hello. I'm new to tumblr and i want to follow epic mickey or mickey mouse blogs in general, can you maybe recommend me a couple blogs?
Hello, Welcome to Tumblr.
This site can be a bit confusing at first, but eventually, you get the hang of it.
One thing I do recommend however it to search for a topic you are interested in like: Mickey Mouse, Epic Mickey, Mickey and Friends, Mickey Mouse and Friends, Disney, etc. and then follow the tags (you should be able to do this on both mobile and computer). That way posts that have that tag will appear on your dash.
As for blogs to recommend that focus on either Epic Mickey or Mickey stuff in general. Honestly, there are so many great people and again I really recommend checking out the tags, as they also will show you cool people to follow. But to give some to start with:
@local-meme-lord posts a lot of great Mickey and Friend memes that tend to come from the comics, but also covers other media as well. (check out @memelordotherblog too)
@applestabs will post really nice scanlations for Mickey Mouse comics every once in a while.
@memekeymouse posts a lot about Mickey as well.
Some great artists who post great Mickey and Friends art include:
@skullsemi (check out: @thebackupdetectives), @alioks-blog, @a-little-birdy-told-me, @mice-ducks-and-blots, @huntthemouse
Some artists make great specifically for Epic Mickey art are: @mickedy, @toonycryptid, @waci-illstr, and @kevinarsenault
And this is really just the beginning. I wish I could put everyone but this post is already getting so long and my memory isn't that good. There are also a lot of cool people who post awesome Duck stuff and even cool Horace Horsecollar stuff (@dalia1784) and Phantom Blot stuff (@theinkphantom, @masterhallmark), so I would look into that as well.
But I hope you enjoy it here. I've been here for a while and everyone has been so amazing.
I also assume you are the one who asked @mafik-sun the same question and the people she recommended are great too and she is also great.

Happy tdov to fat trans people. 🏳️⚧️ Biggest thing that helped me as a trans kid was seeing older fat trans people. There were a lot of really irritating "advice" posts going around early in my time on the internet with a lot of misinformation in them, but one that I constantly saw (in addition to people claiming you should wear your pants rediculously low or only wear button ups) were posts saying you had to lose weight to transition. Can confidently confirm that is completely untrue. 👍

i was having a chuckle to myself last night about Gristol, and how his plans are basically:
Restore Ford Cruller's memory
Find Maligula
???
Profit
but then... of course they are, right? this is Gristol we're talking about. Fatherland Follies drives home again and again that he's still operating on a child's logic, a warped and reductive version of the world that he never bothered to grow out of. both of his memory vaults center on the images of his childhood, this idealized version of the past that he clings to no matter what. and that's still how he remembers Maligula, too - as this saviour figure, who rushes in to help him when he's in trouble.
[ID: Two slides from Gristol's memory vault, Glory to Grulovia! Left: Gristol clings to Maligula's back as she summons waves to sweep away his assailants. Right: Gristol and Maligula waving from a balcony as the people cheer. Gzar Theodore brandishes a dagger in the background.]
like so much else, Maligula represents a return to this idyllic childhood - to the peace and simplicity of his youth, when he was free from worries and responsibilities. in his mind, he doesn't need to make any further plans - once Maligula's back, everything will go back to normal. Maligula will make everything better.
...is what i thought, but then i remembered this line:
[Screenshot source. ID: Gristol, in Truman's body, bows on his hands and knees in front of the newly-awaked Maligula. The caption reads: "Yes, High Priestess! I am here to correct the mistakes made by my father!"]
and that's kind of interesting, right?
to be clear: this happens directly after Maligula sees Helmut-in-Gristol's-body, and recognises him. her line before this is:
"Little Gzesaravich! Have you come to pay for your father's sins?"
my first thought was that Gristol hadn't expected to still be in Truman's body by the time he managed to find Maligula, and this was him trying to placate her and buy some time until he could explain the situation. but watching the cutscene back, that's clearly not what's happening here. Gristol is answering as himself, and his response of throwing himself to his knees before her is, as far as i can tell, genuine.
so what is going on here?
in Fatherland Follies, there's this line in the ride narration that stuck out to me:
"Why didn't the Gzar help Maligula in her time of need? No one knows, but historians agree - it is Gzar Theodore's biggest failure."
other lines mention Gzar Theodore's "mistake", and it's wording Gristol himself echoes in the screencap above. evidently, he believes that his father abandoned Maligula, leaving her to her fate at the hands of the Psychonauts, and it was that mistake that lead to them being driven out of the country - that mistake which he seeks to correct. maybe he even feels like he has a debt to repay to her for his family turning their backs on her all those years ago.
the 'High Priestess' thing, though - that's kinda weird, and threw me for a loop the first time i played the game. it took me until my second playthrough to connect the dots, and remember how the room in the Lady Luctopus - Gristol's room - was full of Delugionist scribblings and symbols.
[Screenshot source. ID: left, the walls of the hidden backroom in Gristol's hotel suite, covered in scrawlings of eyeballs and Maligula's name. Right, the pinboard from the hidden backroom. On its surface are photographs and newspaper clippings connected by pieces of string.]
i mean, look at this stuff! he had a whole conspiracy board and everything!
we learn very little about the Delugionists and their beliefs as a whole during the game, but i think drawing the connection here suggests two important things. one: that Gristol was in deep with this stuff. i don't know how he linked up with them - maybe via old family connections, or just good old-fashioned digging (we know he's skilled at worming his way into peoples' good graces, after all) - but it seems likely that he's begun to internalise their ideas, maybe even warping his own memories of events. and two: the Delugionists themselves are, if you'll pardon the pun, pretty far off the deep end.
like... i understand why PN2 didn't go heavy on the "mass-murderer cult worship" aspect of things, in the end, but man this is such a tantalising glimpse into the wider mythos around Maligula. Gristol is proud and haughty and thinks himself above everyone else; the fact that his first reaction seeing Maligula is to throw himself to the ground at her feet says so much about the way he's come to see her. he's not just trying to bring back Maligula, his childhood bodyguard. he's trying to bring back Maligula, the High Priestess of the deluge, the semi-mythical figure whose supporters believe even death couldn't stop. he doesn't even flinch at the way she confronts him, and maybe it's because he's bought in so completely to this deified figurehead, this idea of Maligula; more a living force of nature than a person. and it all comes back to the same place: an abdication of responsibility, not just to the person who protected him when he was little but to this avatar of floods and destruction. Maligula will make everything better.
i'd write more about my thoughts on the Delugionists but that'd be taking a hard turn into speculation, and this is already kind of long and rambling so i'd better end it here. but what an unexpected and evocative line, right? it's some of the only stuff we have to go off of regarding the Delugionists as a whole, but i think it does such a good job of hinting at the wider story - at teasing another layer to the mythos surrounding Maligula, one whose ripples we see throughout the game but which never quite breaches the surface.

Hey, so I find it hard to believe that I have to say this, but it's become a massive problem for me recently and continues to repeat. If I have blocked you in the past and you have hurt me (which you have come to now realize), do not reach out to me, dude. Do not reach out even just to apologize. I don't want to hear from you, and it's extremely upsetting to be continuously receiving asks from people I've specifically cut out from my life because they know I run this blog. It's shitty, it's sometimes triggering, and it's invasive of my boundaries, so stop. Leave me be, and go on your merry way. I've had to restrict who can message me, and STILL people choose to reach out to me through my asks now! I've had to turn them off temporarily because the problem is getting so ridiculous. It's nice that you want to apologize, but some of you have deeply traumatized me in ways I am still reconciling. Please, just leave me be. Stop reaching out on your other/new accounts; you will be immediately blocked the second I find out it's you.
If I've blocked you, Do. Not. Reach. Out. To. Me. If I wanted to talk to you, I would. Move on with your life, please, and respect my boundaries if you truly care.

Having of those moments where I wish to yeet the like button into the sun or maybe make it so there was setting you could turn on so that people can only reblog posts (even better with the minimum requirement of adding at least one tag)!!
It's kind of absurd that one of my fics is getting close to 500 notes while simultaneously being one I've had the least actual human interactions come from. Like...... come on, that's now how it should be AT ALL!
Don't get me wrong, I'm so thrilled people are clearly finding it and I guess enjoying it(??) but just having endless likes without people letting me know what they enjoyed about it or even if they liked it kind of makes me sad. That's not why I want to share my writing here!
I love having those little human connections with others. I don't ever want my writing to feel transactional. I would love to talk to more people about things I've written. It's truly one of the best feelings and I would hate to lose that, the more I write or the more notes my fics get. Please don't be shy!! I get the social anxiety, but there is no reason to be. I am truly just a Din Djarin obsessed loser.
Anyway, whine over. I don't want to focus on the negatives here and I appreciate every single person who has ever left a positive interaction with something I've written. You are truly a light!

Gonna put myself out here for a hot minute to remind everyone that the runner of a poll or little event on tumblr is not responsible for the replies/posts of everyone else in the fandom, nor do they have the power to stop people from reacting in any which way in the notes of their post without turning off reblogs and shutting down the entire thing full stop. I think we can all agree on that? They are not a discord mod, or the fandom's babysitter. Tumblr is the Wild West and by god none of us are the sheriff.
That's all ok keep on keeping everyone

I once again feel the need to bring back the PSA that if you see me posting/reblogging on the dashboard but I have not answered something you have sent in asks or messages yet or a comment you've left - I promise I am not mad at you in any way shape or form. Interacting online is a weird thing and sometimes I just don't have the mental energy in me to get to something right away or I don't feel like talking, and it is very much not a personal thing.
A lot of times there can be this misunderstanding when people are not answering us/prioritizing answering us and we feel slighted, but please remember that everyone - especially online - has to interact at their own pace and it's not personal.
Also, sometimes Tumblr eats my asks and notifications so please be patient with me, sometimes I discover a days old notif that I never responded to.
Please remember that the people you're interacting with have full lives, emotional levels, energy levels, and are people just trying to navigate life and that sometimes a lack of response most of the time means nothing bad!

About your tags: is there more that you can share about the OW fandom and fics? This was a phenomenon I wonder about too. It was one of the most popular fandoms around 2017-2018, but the way the fandom stopped on its tracks around 2019 was hard not to notice. Especially from people who didn't play the game but were aware of it's fandom.
oh! overwatch is one of about 50-ish fandoms i track for this one spreadsheet project i do as a hobby (which i Technically blog about @fandom-data-scientist, but i've been too lazy to do a proper writeup to explain what the hell it is i do), wherein i try to answer the age-old question: when did the weebs move to ao3?
(the answer is late 2015/early 2016. most likely this was in large part a result of undertale and sports anime, but that's currently just my own conjecture)
According To My Research(tm), the overwatch fandom peaked in late 2016/early 2017 when it comes to the number of new fics posted per month. after this, it declined quite rapidly, as it didn't even get to enjoy a plateau period.
(there's a reason why the plots are really wonky towards the end of this graph-- it's bc i found the past dates for number of fics archived to a particular site via the wayback machine. since those snapshots are typically bot crawls, the number of fics shown on the fandoms listings will not include fics that have been archive-locked. although i technically started this project in august 2022, i did not add overwatch to my tracking list until this june/july or so. my current guess for the small uptick in the rate of ow fics published to ao3 in october 2022 is that the sequel came out? and then the rate plunged for january 2023 bc of the ai scraping scare that happened at around that time-- nearly every single fandom i track had a significant drop right then bc everyone was archive-locking their fics. the rate shooting up in like july 2023 on this chart is bc like i said, that's when i added ow to my list of tracked fandoms; because i'm logged into my own ao3 acct when checking these numbers live, i get access to the archive-locked fics and so the display number goes up.)
in my experience, fandoms will generally kind of plateau in their fic production after their peak, which will ofc normally gradually taper off. games that receive regular lore or story updates probably have fairly long or stable plateaus, although i haven't made scatterplots or made any comparing analyses to prove this rigorously. this plateau period generally represents a time of fandom stability as the fair-weather, casual, or migratory slash fans run off to the next big thing.
if we ignore the fact the plague and quarantine happened, we can see a nice, steady, and very consistent plateau period for the danganronpa fandom from about 2018-2020!
let's look at an older fandom, like my archnemesis final fantasy:
granted, the ao3 numbers are kind of all over the place these days, but you kind of get my point by now, right? that healthy fandoms tend to plateau as the wind carries away the faintly-interested and leaves the long-haulers behind to form their communities.
overwatch struck me as unusual when i was on one of my long wayback machine trips because of the way there was a net increase of only two fics published from 1 july 2021 to 1 october 2021, when before then it had usually been in the hundreds or so. i then went on a work tangent n googled around n more or less concluded it had Something to do with some kind of scandal with the development company, but otherwise i don't really have any more comments on it hahaha.

Absolutely diabolical how a fic will have over 500 likes and only 30 reblogs, with only ONE of those reblogs having tags/comments like what the fuck people really need to get with it and REBLOG the things they like. This is literally the Reblog website like. There's no reason there should be THAT much of a discrepancy between likes and reblogs it's fucking ridiculous I'm so mad about this

Someone said you of said some things and said you made a hit piece on someone while Also sent your post to lemoncritiques in the process. Saying that they blocked you for "a reason" n saying that you usually make "hit pieces" aka "long posts"... As a fan of you I'm tired of people trash talking you for no reason. You have done nothing wrong at All. All you done was spread the word on Viv and educated people about Viv and stuff going on in the world and that Alone doesn't deserve the hate you got. People really are miserable nowadays making up stuff that isn't true.
The fact that the LemonCritiques never responded to me actually trying to help them by warning them about that "impersonator" while still talking about me is starting to make me feel suspicious on whether that was an impersonator at all. Especially when that "impersonator" said the same stuff Lemon said here, except before this post was made since that was before you mentioned it.
The lack of compassion here is actually disgusting.
-and though Lemon is defending me here, which is nice and all, did they actually try to block me for telling them not to try to reveal the identity of someone they know would be attacked if they did so?!
The fact that they're trying to get that kid attacked, over a blog that isn't even her, all because they want her here again to harass her that badly that they'd even try to get her identity out there if I was Star is fucking atrocious. Hell, I even said that I did not like them to be harassed yet they block for telling them not to harass someone?
Also "HIT PIECES!" Lmao, they really constantly criticize Vivziepop yet the moment people say even a thing about their behavior or has a single critique they either go full on white knight for people that are cool with me as a desperate attempt to demonize me or this part of the fandom goes on to harass kids, harass each other for disagreements, etc. The fandom as a whole is just a trashfire, and it's come to a point where there's so few I can trust because the fandom as a whole is just outright terrible on both sides... 💀
They just want to harass Star again. She said that their community wasn't "perfect" and they're out to find her by any means to the level of obsessing over random people. It's super ironic to see a group saying how the stans are "harassing them for criticism!" meanwhile they still act like people are harassing them for critique, multiple times, both with what's shown below and that ask that was just to Lemon. Certain people in the "hazbin critical tag" are legit hellbent on demonizing that kid and harassing her with racial slurs and sexual harassment as a way to try to force her to reveal her actual blog, so for Lemon to defend people like that by trying to also get her blog out there again to harass her again is vile. They never even said anything about the hate, in fact, they're contributing to it!
What dumpster fire... and then you people wonder why I no longer have Tumblr as a hobby anymore. This is why.
The standom, the hatedom and the critiquedom are terrible.
-and though i'd take the critiquedom's crap over the standom's crap anyway since at least, unlike what Ayy Lmao said by showing a completely unrelated fandom to demonize anyone that critiques the show, bad or not, to encourage people to dogpile/harass innocent people who critiqued a cartoon even once to get them harassed even more while they continue to be a hatedom themselves towards the "critics" (fans, other regular people) which is disgusting, the critiquedom's foundation and majority behavior is at least reasonable and even somewhat kind to people, despite their shortcomings with their own harassment moments that only happens at times (all harassment occurances being so big on both sides, regardless of the amount of them happening, which is terrible, seeing how many of them support it on both sides, but you get the gist of what im saying here. Hopefully...) meanwhile the stan(hate)dom legit harass people daily, including the main creators such as Vivziepop or Adam, including the Cartoonishi and Dirg^ntlemn situation (oh god...), and are a hatedom themselves since the foundation of the majority of the standom's behavior is, you guessed it- harassment!
So are people really a "hatedom" for critiqueing the show like Ayy Lmao is trying to claim to make people think that critiqueing the show and the Doom gore shit are somehow the "same" thing?
No.
But is the standom a hatedom for constantly harassing people as the main foundation of their behavior as a whole outside of talking about yaoi and Loona porn all the time?
YES!

also not to to make vague and whining posts...but to make vague and whining posts, since I am actively sick and so dizzy I can barely stand upright for five minutes at a time, ergo sorely lack the required brainpower needed to express this w any of like, grace and precision, much less eloquence.
man oh man I am so fucking done with the way people approach art and media. how all of it is now perceived as "content" and the only metric by which they judge whether or not it is good is how hashtag relatable it is to the consumer, how the point of it is, or should be, as far as these people are concerned, to be Nice and Inoffensive and Digestible and About Me, The Specialest And Most Importantest Little Princeling, actually. how they perceive themselves as a customer, essentially. shopper weighing you, the artist / creative, like a product in his hands and tutting. and more than anything I loathe the incredibly dangerous entitlement bred by this attitude.
also, people have gotten waaaaayyyyyy too comfortable with just wandering into the DMs / inboxes of strangers they encounter at random on the internet with increasingly bizarre grievances. main character syndrome is sosososo real, deranged and common. I want to scream!! I AM screaming!!!!

"That's not how systems work. You're taking this too far. You don't know what its like to feel so out of control, to have memory blackouts, to wake up years later, to have someone in your system grieve someone they didn't know was dead."
Bec. Becayse... hecause i didnt talk about experiencing it? Or. Because i said that i like my system or that i have a majority positive experiences over negative ones?
Because i did. I absolutely have been thru every single one of these things and I've had multiple people talk down to me as if I'm stupid and perpetuating false information, or just simply being super disrespectful. I never assume, i never make blanket statements, and i go forward knowing that everyone collectively is new to studying this stuff in a modern way, though its been around for a while.
All i want is to demedicalize a part of the community (because OBVIOUSLY some will have need for the medical part) and be honest about myself, and listen to others being honest about THEMSELVES.
Systems are. Extraordinary. Every single one of them, and every individual within them. Talk about your experiences, be annoying. Talk too much. Talk only about the good. Talk about how you adore them. Talk about the bad. Talk about any part of it you deem important even if others think its silly, or cringe, or wrong or bad or stupid or anything else. Whatever YOU think of it, it must be.
I promise you aren't the only system experiencing whatever it is you're experiencing and that there is a community for you. Find the people who will listen, and speak.
