#it's minimal mcu salt but still

Hello hi, finally made an account on this website. Heres a neat little Mcu fanfilm pitch ive been brainstorming for a week or too, please enjoy.
Tumblr media
Movie name: STARK
Runtime: 3 hr 7 min
A pinch of salt: so, endgame starts with a bit of regrouping and tying up the loose end of infinity war with everyone begrudgingly going to Paradise and beating thanos' shit, yeah? Now, in order for *this* movie to work, im gunna rework endgame a bit. All of endgame, right up to the still of thor at the porch after saying he finally "went for the head" is actually the beginning of this movie. Endgame starts on its own accord. With the rat, or what have you. It picks up after this film. This film, STARK, is the Blip movie.
Movie idea
This entire film takes place during the 5 year period that endgame would have timeskiped. This film is the paramount film that entirely encompases what the world of the mcu, and the world of tony stark, did with their lives after the events of infinity war. It is by far the most tonally distinct film in the mcu. Its basically directed like an indie film. The amount of music is minimal and almost entirely diagetic, there is no set goal or hero's journey structure, and it doesnt end on some high note. It just kinda ends after some narrative buildup and a very mild foreshadowing of the beginning of endgame.
The movies story follows tony stark, almost like a biographic documentary, just not narrated or anything like that. Stark spends the film struggling with his broken world both personally and universally. Just overall a really depressing movie. The first half has a majority of the other superhero cameos. People like the avengers, families of the characters that were lost, discussions with shield on what to do going forward, and heartbreaking meltdowns of characters like hawkeye who literally had his entire family dusted during a picnic even though he had mothing to do with it.
The second half of the movie is more focused on tony and his family. We get to see their stressful steering of stark industries what with half of its workforce being killed off internationally, maybe we get some Happy Hogan backstory where he takes a large amount of leave to try and reconsile with what little family he has left, and a very heartbreaking farewell between him and tony, lifelong friends. They know he'll be back, but it hurts to see him go after what tony's through. Maybe tony even becomes a bit controlling and tries to make him stay and they fight, who knows. Also, some daddystark and mommypotts scenes with both of them having a really hard time handling the newborn.
On that note...
I want this movie to genuinely portray stark as an incredibly agonized, broken character. Almost villify him. I want him to be paranoid, i want him to be aggressive, i want him to yell at his loved ones (ex: with painful, uncomfortable domestic arguments with pepper, one maybe in front of their newborn). I want him to cry and break down and i want him to showcase poor coping mechanisms. I want this movie to portray the most grim era of his life, and of everyones. I want him to have marital issues, be a bad father at the start, be a control freak with his coworkers, all that crap. But i dont want him to just, be an antagonist. No. I want him to be a broken man. A tragic character for a tragedy film. Someone who, thanks to several traumatic experiences has become somewhat of a bad person, but shows the ability to better themselves and have enough merit for the audience to feel bad for and have empathy for.
I also want this movie to explain a majority of the statuses of the mcu. Mainly in the first half. Maybe a press conference with shield that honorably attempts to explain everything that happened. Or better yet, maybe when that doesnt work and the press conference goes to hell, a different interview is privately held by a couple of retired avengers involved, like tony, steve, banner, and natalie, Where they painfully and unrestrainedly dump every bit of info on what happened and why it happened and who was responsible. The movie will discuss the status of the avengers, go over whos who, whos where, and why theyre gone. It'll give us insight on how shield is doing themselves, and maybe it would have foreshadowed the kree shenanigans we see in nwh and eventually in secret invasion later this year.
The reason this movie is so long is because its covering at least 4 whole years of mcu history. But it wont be too difficult or take too long to produce because of the simplicity of the filmmaking. Like i said, its gunna be an indie soap movie. A tragedy among the likes of macbeth more than a comic book film. Very, very little cgi or vfx. Maybe just with the hulk or some flying by thor, or the gang traveling back to earth after killing thanos. Not that much in terms of well known mcu superhero shenaningans, just sadness and reality. Tony will enter his iron man suits zero times. Not a single flight. Not a single crime fighting scene or badguy outside of asshole characters. Also, since this is a hypothetical fanfilm and i have creative merit over everything, this movie will actually have zero mcu humor! None! Not a single joke! At the VERY BEST, it'll have some wholesome banter between tony and potts morgan, maybe happy, near the end of the film. Some stuff that kinda makes you snicker but is more just soulfood than genuine comedy. Like the ILY 3000 convo between pepper and tony in endgame.
As for how this movie would end, im not entirely sure. It wouldnt directly lead into endgame, no, maybe end 6 or so months before. Id like for it to end with stark finishing some kind of psychiatric support treatment or therapy plan that would have been followed by the film throughout the entire runtime, with in-between scenes of stark summarizing his day with his therapist, or the events of the post months throughout the movie. The movies could end on a bittersweet note with tony on his porch. Better yet, maybe it will be an (at the time of release) somewhat cliffhanger pan-away, a perfectly matching leadup end scene to when the avengers gang initially pull up to tony's house in endgame.

[Aw shit, I just read that in The Wakanda Files that just came out, there’s a section of Shuri’s notes on Bucky. Under the cut in case you don’t want to know...
Apparently Shuri’s notes talk about how she believed the emotional stimulus of having Steve around was one of the only ways Bucky kept himself free of the effects of his brainwashing for so long, and apparently she didn’t believe the brainwashing was successfully reversed. As if it wasn’t already painfully obvious that he needed Steve, and mcu fucked them both.
Excuse me while I go cry for Bucky and the death of mcu Steve’s character forever, and try not to think about how painful fatws might be.
Note: because people have started this, I'd appreciate if you all could please do not reblog this post. This is a roleplaying blog and I am now blocking people who do.

Save Me - Chapter 7
Tumblr media
Pairing: Steve Rogers x Reader, multiple MCU characters
Word Count: 2619
Summary: Y/N has finally landed her dream job as a lifeguard on Midgard Beach, but how well will she fit in with the team and how will she cope after grabbing the attention of the blue-eyed Captain?
***Masterlist***
A/N: So I’ve decided that there will be 10 chapters for this story so I’ve only got three more to post which I’m actually quite sad about. I’ll probs post a bunch of oneshots that can tie into the story cause I’m actually really in love with this AU but the official storyline will end after the tenth chapter :( . Anyway I hope you all enjoy the update and feedback is always appreciated xxx
Monday had viciously attacked you from behind, the weekend having seemingly disappeared before your very eyes. The chilly air tried to penetrate your blanket’s defences, failing as you wrapped your bed covers further around you successfully encompassing your body in the warmth of your bed once more.
Your alarm came to life from its position on your bedside table, having awoken once more after snoozing it several times, each time only prolonging the inevitable as you refused to believe that your sleep was coming to an end. Stretching your limbs out you quickly reached over and turned your alarm off, retreating quickly under the warmth of your blankets once more.
You revelled in the comfort of your bed for a few more minutes before begrudgingly throwing the covers away, wincing as the cold air attacked your warm skin. Hastily pulling a hoodie over your figure you slowly made your way through your home, getting ready for the day with your eyes still half lidded from sleep.
After having scoffed down a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast you lazily returned to your bedroom, locating a clean uniform before readying yourself for the chill that would encompass your body as you removed your clothes. Breathing in several times you finally gained enough courage to face the cold, ripping your hoodie and pyjama shirt off quickly as you kicked your pyjama shorts to the floor. Sliding your bathing suit on took up the most time as goosebumps began to form on your skin, ignoring them as you slid the uniformed shorts and shirt on before layering it with your lifeguard hoodie.
Even though you had changed as quickly as possible the lack of warmth from your new outfit caused a shiver to run down your spine as you slid your shoes on before heading in to the bathroom to brush your teeth. A pile of old makeup lay discarded on the vanity, ancient and most likely past their use-by date. Since you worked in the ocean makeup would only act as a hindrance so it had never played a large part in your morning routine.
After brushing your teeth you applied SPF moisturiser to your skin, rubbing it in until it had disappeared. You tried for several minutes to brush your hair, getting more frustrated by the minute as your brush continued to get stuck on several knots. Giving up, you threw the brush back down instead electing to mask your mane by whipping your hair into a messy bun.
You weren’t altogether satisfied with your appearance as you stared at yourself in the mirror but knew that you didn’t have the resolve to fix it any further. With one last glance at your reflection you grabbed your keys and helmet from their position by the door, wheeling your bike out alongside you.
Slinging your backpack over your shoulders you mounted your bike with ease, pedalling off towards the faint sound of crashing waves. You were glad that you lived so close to the ocean, the smell of salt and the familiar seaside sounds often sending you to sleep at night. The small house that you rented from an old lady down the street was quaint and old, yet it had a homey feeling about it that caused you to fall in love with it the first time you had stumbled across the ‘for rent’ sign that had stood tall on the lawn.
The ride to work was short as the wind whipped at your face causing you to snuggle further into your oversized hoodie. After only a few minutes you rounded the bend coming face to face with the spectacular view of the ocean from the top of the hill. You ceased your pedalling as gravity began to pull you downwards, reaching the tower in record time.
Most of your coworkers were already present in the room, laying on the couches as they talked amongst themselves. Peter greeted you first as you entered the room, heading straight to your locker to store your backpack away before joining the small group on the couch to join in on the conversation.
The rest of the team trickled in one by one until Tony was the only one missing. Steve, electing that he was probably just running late, began his morning briefing before the front door was opened with an unnecessary amount of force.
“I’m here and I have an announcement!” Tony called dramatically, causing Steve to stop what he was saying and turn to him in confusion.
“Tony, you’re late, I’m already halfway through the briefing,” he tried to say before being cut off once more.
“And I do apologise for that Captain but I think I have more exciting news. As you all know my birthday is coming up this weekend so I’ve decided to have a little get together. You’re all invited to my birthday party this Saturday at The Black Panther. Dress nice and don’t buy me clothes as a gift; I don’t have time to return them.” A few cheers erupted around the room, the team clearly excited for the upcoming event.
“Thanks for the pressing news, Tony,” Steve said sarcastically with a small grin leaking from his authoritative exterior.
“No problems Cap,” Tony responded playfully, slapping him on the back before slouching down on the couch beside you.
“As I was saying,” the Captain continued. “Peter and Y/N are at position one, Tony and Bruce at position two, Sam and I are at position 3, and Nat and Thor are in the watch tower today.”
***
Friday had slowly meandered its way towards you, taking its time throughout the slow week to finally make an appearance. Sunlight filtered in from the window in front of you, warming your face as you closed your eyes, revelling in the warmth. You stayed like that for quite some time, listening to the waves crash down on the beach below.
Steve struggled to open the door to the watch tower, his hands full with the two coffee cups as the bag containing the pastry was gripped tightly between his teeth. You opened your eyes and glanced at the door when you heard the ruckus, smiling to yourself as you watched the large man push the door open with his leg.
“Do you need some help?” You called to him causing his gaze to flick up and meet your own, your heart beating slightly faster as he smiled at you.
He grunted in negation as he made his way over to you, placing the cup down on the desk. Your brows furrowed in confusion as you finally caught sight of the cups, their glass bodies and plastic lids a major contrast to the normal styrofoam cups.
“They’re reusable cups!” Steve declared, interrupting your train of thought as he noticed the confusion on your face. “Since you got so angry about the plastic in the ocean last week I thought I’d help contribute to saving the environment.”
A sweet smile was plastered across his features, clearly proud of his purchase, as your mouth fell open in shock. It wasn’t a very big action to most but it meant everything to you. Without thinking you stood from your chair and wrapped your arms around Steve’s broad form. He instantly became tense, a shocked expression forming on his features, before his muscles relaxed and he brought his own arms to rest on your back gently.
The hug lasted longer than you expected, your body unconsciously relaxing as it clung to Steve’s broad form. He was warm and comforting and smelt so good that you closed your eyes as you took him in, revelling in the feeling of his arms around you.
“It’s only a cup,” he chuckled awkwardly.
“It means a lot to me Steve,” you responded as you pulled away, your heart aching to hug him again. “I know it’s only a small gesture but I really do appreciate it.”
A broad smile covered his face as he saw just how grateful you were, his heart aching slightly as he watched your face light up. If he had known that a reusable cup would bring you so much joy he would have bought one weeks ago. He couldn’t help himself as he continued to stare at you, the smile only growing bigger as you admired the cup before you.
His heart tugged painfully at his chest.
“When you’re done give me your cup and I’ll use them next week to get our coffees,” you said excitedly, looking up from your drink to find Steve’s gaze lingering on yours. His gaze dropped for a split second and you swore that he had glanced at your lips.
Your train of thought was interrupted as the door to the watch tower swung open as Natasha and Clint wondered in, greeting you when they spotted you by the windows. Wanda, Sam and Bucky entered not long after them, causing Steve to leave your side as he got ready for the morning briefing. He smiled to you as he walked away, wondering over to Bucky and Sam to greet them.
“So what are you planning to wear to Tony’s?” Wanda asked as she took a seat next to you.
To be honest you hadn’t really given any thought to Tony’s party, knowing you would put together a last minute outfit from the minimal clothes in your wardrobe. But the more you thought about it the more you realised that all of your clothes were mainly workout related since you rarely ever went out.
“I don’t know actually. I don’t really have anything party appropriate,” you confided in the girls as Natasha’s eyes lit up in shock.
“And you wait until the day before the party to tell us that?”
“I’m sure it’ll be fine. I’ll find something.” You tried your best to ease Natasha’s worry.
“No, not good enough. This is your first official outing with the work group; this is the first time anyone’s going to see you out of the uniform,” Wanda interjected.
You hadn’t thought about that.
“Plus I’m sure you want to catch someone’s attention at the party,” Natasha whispered as she not-so-subtly glanced from you to Steve, quirking an eyebrow suggestively.
Before you had time to object Wanda cut in.
“That’s it, we’re taking you shopping after work.”
***
You had to admit that shopping definitely wasn’t your favourite pastime. The shopping centre was crowded and noisy, seemingly full of people who were determined to walk in front of you at a snails pace.
Nevertheless you had to admit that hanging out with Natasha and Wanda outside of work was quite fun. You chatted and joked, the conversation never once coming to a stop as you weaved your way in and out of several different stores.
“That jacket is stunning,” Wanda announced as you came out of the change room.
“The top is not,” Natasha chimed in earning a nod in agreement from Wanda.
Turning around you inspected yourself in the full length mirror. The jacket was cute, you admitted, as you changed position, viewing the item from a different angle. It was a simple cropped leather jacket, the fake leather falling around your figure in just the right way.
“If you don’t get it, I will,” Natasha spoke up, eyeing the jacket jealously.
“No I like it. I reckon I’ll get it.” Wanda squealed in excitement at your first purchase of the night.
Time seemed to fly by as the bags in your hands seemed to double in number. It had felt nice to treat yourself to some new clothes, something you didn’t do very often. You became more and more disheartened the more stores you visited, the search for an outfit for the party wielding nothing so far.
Wanda and Natasha, also holding numerous bags between them, had located outfits for the event several stores ago, but nothing had yet caught your eye.
Your mouth widened involuntarily as a yawn escaped from your lips.
“I think I’m all shopped out, guys,” you stated, rearranging the bags in your arms so that they sat more comfortably.
“But you haven’t found anything for the party!” Wanda protested.
You raised your arms towards her. “I’m sure I can find something among this haul.”
“Alright, one more shop and then we’ll call it quits,” Natasha conceded before leading you into the last store of the night.
The bright lights scattered around the room blinded you for a few seconds as your eyes adjusted, the overwhelming aroma of a nearby diffuser filling your nostrils. The store clerk welcomed you as she saw you enter before leaving the three of you to browse.
You all split up, branching off as you went to explore seperate parts of the store. Since the room was void of any other customers you didn’t feel embarrassed when the other girls called over to you to show off an item they had found.
“Y/N!” Your head whipped up as you heard Natasha’s voice. “What do you reckon?”
She was holding up a black lace bodysuit which appeared as if it wouldn’t cover much of your skin if worn.
“I think it’s more your style than mine!” You called back.
“I was hoping you’d say that,” Natasha grinned, folding it over her arm to try on later as she continued to browse.
You were flicking through a rack of dresses when one fell from the hangar onto the floor. Reaching down you awkwardly tried to hang it back up, finding it difficult due to your already full hands. However as you grasped it before you you began to admire it.
It was a sweater dress with long sleeves and a high neckline. Its dark green texture stood out among the rack, the thick material feeling extremely light as you held it. The hem was quite short, you noticed, expecting it to fall further up your thighs than you were comfortable with.
You held it up nonetheless.
“Thoughts?” You called to Nat and Wanda, catching their attention.
“Love love love,” Natasha replied as she walked over to inspect the dress.
“You have to try it on,” Wanda urged, following close behind Nat.
They practically dragged you to the change rooms as they shoved you inside, closing the curtain behind you as they grabbed your bags from you hands.
The dress was nice, you thought to yourself as you inspected yourself in the mirror. It was tighter than you realised, hugging every curve of your body in just the right way. You sighed with relief when the material stretched down further than you had first thought, the hem of the dress resting around the middle of your thighs. The green looked nice on you, contrasting the tan you had accumulated during your patrols, the long sleeves and high neckline doing a good job in hiding the hideous tan lines that were the consequence of your bathing suit.
You opened the curtain that led out into the store finding Nat and Wanda waiting patiently behind it. Their eyes grew wide as their eyes locked with yours.
“What?” You questioned with a hint of panic in your voice, fearful that they hated the dress. “Don’t you like it?”
They stood silent before you before Natasha finally spoke up, “If I was gay I would totally have the hots for you right now.”
You chuckled at her remark, blushing slightly.
“All I’m gonna say is that if you don’t buy that dress I will happily buy it for you,” Wanda chimed in.
A smile encompassed your face as you took in the girls before you, wondering what you could possibly have done to deserve such beautiful friends.

Steve Rogers is a walking contradiction: the anti military soldier
After reading this meta on a gifset about Steve and Tony i got carried away and wrote essentially an essay about the analysis that had been made. and while i agree with the general sentiment of the post, some things didn’t sit right with me. btw i decided to make this my own separate post because this isn’t intended to start an argument or derail the original post, i know it can be annoying for gif makers to have dozens of comments added onto their posts.
Tumblr media
(the meta in question)
ok so full disclaimer I’m not American and I’m not white. i just felt like this analysis was really interesting and when I read it I couldn’t stop all these thoughts that formed in my head, next thing I know I had written all of this in like 30 minutes. I’m not trying to argue or start shit, this is my own personal analysis of Steve’s character and why I don’t agree with some things said above.
First of all, let’s get this out of the way: Steve does not trust the US government. at least not blindly. the fact that he’s still the little shit that had a real problem w authority figures is something they touch upon on catfa a lot. he changed on the outside but on the inside he’s still that idiot punk kid and like, I get what the tags above me are saying but also Steve’s arc is more than that? and let’s not forget this stupid movie was written and directed by thanos Joss “I’m the true feminist ally” whedon so I would take this exchange with a grain of salt. I mean this is the movie that gave us “gOllY tHeRe’S OnLy oNe gOd m'Am” and “sOn oF a GuN” Stephen Rogers which is the most ooc thing I’ve seen since endgame’s Steve. Steve is a fucking potty mouth ffs he’s Irish and a soldier, so that doesn’t even make sense. but anyway, my point is something else, nvm this movie’s portrayal of Steve in general.
I guess we could probably argue all day long abt which Steve portrayal is the most accurate one since his character in the MCU is the one that’s suffered the most at the hands of inconsistent characterization, but I prefer thinking he already WAS someone that was well aware of the horrors of war and how unfair it was to recruit people w lies and the promises of education opportunities and loans for the poor to join the army, because he LIVED that he grew up dirt poor and had to see his mom take on three different jobs to support herself and him, so he’d consider this attempt to bring civilians into the military life by preying on their needs disgusting, he’d be fucking seething with anger. and if he had lived through the 60s (which I think it’s better for everyone involved that he didn’t, can u imagine poor guy would’ve died from the disappointment in what his country had become) I highly doubt he would’ve been the bitter WWII vet that defended Vietnam and shit on the protestors……. Steve would support the citizens’ rights to ask for accountability and demand justice!! even the hippie movement I think he would’ve been ok with when he saw that they were advocating FOR PEACE. that’s why he enlisted on the war after all, to bring the fight to an end and to have Bucky come HOME. I think Steve rogers would be all for peace. I mean, civil disobedience and telling the government to shove it? that’s Steve Rogers’ goddamn ethos. he would be all over that shit.
I agree w op’s tags where they say Steve doesn’t represent America, he represents what America wishes it had been. and I think Steve himself would be well aware he’s the anomaly here, the one that should have been America’s highest ideal. and I think that makes Steve very wary of his own image, anything he endorses becomes what America endorses. Steve rogers isn’t important, Captain America is. but I think Steve’s response here has more to do with his coping mechanisms to deal with loss, rather than coming from a place of “oh we’re soldiers, it’s what we do, we die for our country.” while Tony’s response comes from a place of anger (we are NOT soldiers!!! fuck u old man, i never asked for this!!! coulson didn’t ask for this!!!!!) Steve’s reaction comes from the intrinsic nihilism and dadaism product of his own time. it’s not that he’s minimizing Coulson’s death, it’s more that he’s so used to losing people, the thousands he met that died in European soil, the sick and ill from his ma’s work that died everyday, his own father whom he never even met, that his mechanism is to just. shut down. shrug it off a bit, even. people die. every day. “for believing” means for standing for something, because Steve is WELL aware that people that stand for nothing will fall for anything, and standing for something gives counterbalance to the official agenda. in his eyes, Coulson died not because he’s a soldier and winning the war means being prepared to make a few sacrifices. Coulson died because he chose to believe in something that the majority didn’t care about or even actively sought to destroy (the wsc over fury’s shoulder) and he died because he would not back down from the fight. I can do this all day is something Steve feeds off of because he knows that when you stop getting up from the ground, anyone and anything can strike you down.
but on another note, I get that Avengers happens literally 6 fucking days after he woke up from the ice, he probably had no time to catch up on all the atrocities the US had done on his behalf, or rather on what they said he represented, on the ideal he died defending and the US took and twisted and tore apart until it was no longer recognizable. Steve being a week out of the ice is super sad and to me, the biggest crime this movie did was literally brushing off Steve’s trauma, being riddled with PTSD and shocked from waking up seventy years in the future was not even addressed. at all. this could’ve been easily avoided by setting the movie at least a couple of months AFTER he wakes up. but whatever. After learning of all the shit the US has done, I think Steve rogers would be the first to walk out of there and be like “fuck it, I died for this country and you took it and fucked it up and now young people and people who’ve been killed for protesting your shitty ass decisions genuinely believe I would side with the government. they think I’M the stubborn baby boomer who kisses government boots and would approve of the Gulf War or the Vietnam War or the Central American coups or the war on terror or any of the stupid shit you’ve pulled in the 70 years I was gone!!! YOU MADE ME A SYMBOL FOR YOUR BIGOTRY WHAT THE FUCK”. so he obviously needs time to catch up on all of that before realizing how bad they fucked up his memory and how corrupt the system has become. but Steve’s depiction as a boy scout who believes the US can do nothing bad is inherently wrong and something only this one movie tries to do. no other movie featuring Cap tries to drive the point home that Cap is a goodie two shoes who still believes in american exceptionalism.
CATWS was the gold standard because it truly touched upon the cognitive dissonance Steve experiences coming out of a 70 year nap. the loss he experiences not only for being “the man out of time”, but the true man behind the symbol. heavy are the shoulders that carry the world indeed. and he’s been carrying the entire world on his since he decided to become Captain America. I truly believe the tragedy of Steve Rogers comes from the lack of agency he has over the Captain image, one that has been used to prop up political agendas over and over again. of course, he’s the one that decides to be Captain America as much as he is Steve rogers, blurring the lines between the two men. he could’ve retired, he could’ve adopted a new mantle or even go the old reliable route and try to keep a civilian life away from the superhero gig. but he didn’t. even in the comics whenever he tried to do that it didn’t stick for more than a few issues. so, you know in CATWS he truly experiments what it’s like to pull back the curtain and see the wizard behind it, he faces this disenchantment with the institutions that created him, both SHIELD and the US government. this helps pinpoint the moment he grows super distrustful of politics and agendas, because up until this point he’d only been in the battlefield, and he realizes governments cannot be trusted to make the right decision or even act in benefit of their people.
this way, Civil War does make sense when you see how Steve has grown so disappointed with modern politics that he sees the Sokovia accords as one big red flag, and the first step in a direction that only points toward authoritarianism and civil control. this movie deals with many things poorly of course, but one thing that doesn’t feel ooc is Steve telling the UN to fuck off. He wasn’t around to see the formation of the united nations remember? he literally has no background on what collective security and globalized autonomy are. there’s many things that could’ve been different in CW, but Steve was on the “right” side of the conflict for his character. (i’m NOT saying there’s a wrong and a right side on the Civil war dilemma. that whole thing was badly written so let’s just say it made sense in a hypothetical way). supporting the government in any capacity isn’t a part of Steve’s “thing”, but even when/if he sided with the US govt, he’d never endorse a political agenda that he perceives as “wrong”, knowing it’s hypocritical to do so.
he doesn’t think the end justify the means, which is highly different from Tony’s pragmatism. if Steve and Tony represented opposing philosophical movements, Tony would be utilitarianism and Steve would be deontology. this brings the analysis full circle by pointing out that yes, Tony and Steve operate differently in theory, but in practice they both work for the same objective. Tony is the cynic product of his own doing, he understands how war can destroy and he knows the US has a bad track record of owning up to its own shit. and because of that, he believes that the most good he can do is in his own hands (and because of his extremist way of thinking, he also equates that with being the only one who can do it and therefore, he must, no matter the personal cost). On the other hand, Steve is the idealist product of other’s people efforts, he understands how sometimes war can be the only way to save what is worth saving, but also how it can corrupt even the noblest of men. and because of that, he believes that the most good he can do must be done because other people believe in him, and because by setting the example, others can follow and make the world a better place. (and because of his very stubborn nature, he also equates that with being the ‘tree that must plant itself in the ground and say no, you move’.)
so what I guess I’m trying to say, is that to me at least, saying that Steve Rogers would be in favor of US militarism or that he equates the word “soldier” with hero is a huge disservice to his character. the fact that he’s a fictional character that was first conceived as WWII propaganda is not relevant, because I choose to believe the idea that says fiction stops being the creator’s own the moment it’s out in the world. And Steve Rogers NOW is a different character and serves a different purpose than what he was originally intended to. His entire origin is based on being a soldier, yes, but what makes his character so compelling is the juxtaposition between being a soldier and being essentially opposed to what the US military complex entails. he embodies a lot of american values ofc, like freedom and right of free speech and so, but my take is that he defends this values in a way that is distinctly non American. setting aside discussions of propaganda and the integrity of an art form, i think he’s been written in a way that evokes patriotism without being exclusively american. i mean heck, Steve rogers makes me proud to be from my own country, and inspires me to be better while never reminding me of the fact that he’s from an imperialist super power. Star spangled suit aside, he’s probably a fair enough representation of what one's love for their own country can bring to the surface, no matter which country specifically. i could delve more into that, but this is already getting too long and, since i already mentioned, I’m not from the US and my cultural upbringing is far different from the US. so i’m not sure i could make such a poignant analysis about the military culture and the way it impacts characters such as Steve.

“Steve, you do realize that I’m not a child, right?” You cross your arms over your chest, looking at the tall blonde with a scowl.
Steve sighs, nodding. “Yes Y/n. But you aren’t ready to-“
“To what? Go on a mission with you guys?!” You motion to the rest of the team who is silently watching you twos’ exchange.
Steve opens his mouth, but you interrupt him before he could even speak. “If not now, then when Steve?”
Captain America averts his gaze, not responding. You can feel tears fill the back of your eyes. “Okay.” Your voice is low. “I’ll start packing my shit then.”
You whirl around, beginning to walk away. “Woah! Hold on for a bit there buttercup!” Tony blocks your way, his dark brows raised in surprise and his hands held up.
“Come on, you can’t leave just because-“
“What was I asked here for Tony?” You snap.
He seems baffled by the question, dazed, for a few seconds at least, before he lets his hands drop to his side limply.
“To train you so you could join the team.” He mumbles.
“Mhmm. And what have I been doing for the past four years?” Your voice is as sharp as a whip.
Tony sighs. “C’mon buttercup you-“
“Answer.”
His shoulders drop. “Training.”
“Exactly.” You smile bitterly, turning to face a silent team. “Natasha.” She looks at you instantly. “How many missions have I been on?”
She clears her throat. “None.” Is all she responds with, prompting a sarcastic smile to spread over your face.
“Yup.” You turn to look at a slightly down-cast and guilty Steve. “Captain, you told me that you believed in me. That you could see the good in me and that my powers could be used for good if I trained hard enough. And I have, for the past four years all I’ve done is train. And yet...” you pause, sucking in a shaky breath. “You’re keeping me cooped up in this gold cage. And the only thing I can credit that to is that you were wrong.” You hold back tears, your voice hoarse.
Steve’s eyes widen and he looks at you with urgency, “Oh gosh no, Y/n! I do believe in you. I-I just...” He trails off, looking conflicted. Waiting for him to say something makes the air feel tense. But you have hope that he’ll think it through and allow you to go.
Alas, he comes up with nothing.
So you nod sadly and sniffle. “Right then. If all I’m here for is to be hidden away from the world because you’re ashamed of me, I can just ask director Fury to transfer me to another base. Where I’ll actually be of use.” You spit the words out as if you’d meant them. Various of your team members flinch at your coldness, but you ignore them, turning around and bumping your shoulder with Tony’s on your way to your room.

“Fucking Steve and his protective ass. I. Need. A. Mission.” You stuff your clothes in harshly, wiping at tears furiously.
“Why?” You whirl around at the slightly familiar voice. James Buchanan Barnes is standing on the doorway, his face contorted slightly into pain.
“Bucky?” your voice comes out as more of a question and less of a statement, prompting you to blush. You stop packing, motioning for him to come in. He sends you a small timid grin but walks in nonetheless.
You don’t miss the way he glances at your colorful room and all the band posters put up on the walls in awe. Your room was in great contrast to the rest of the team’s and even his. It had colors...and a theme.
He stands awkwardly by the foot of your bed, refusing to meet your eyes. You snort, picking up your only picture frame and placing it in between your clothes to keep it from breaking.
“I don’t bite ya know?” You muse, patting a spot besides your suitcase. He glances at it with a strange look. “Where are you going?”
You shrug as he stiffly sits on your queen sized bed, watching you shuffle around your room.
“I’m thinking of leaving sometime next week. I hear the crime rates in Russia are pretty high and the organization needs help.” You refrain from saying ‘crime’ actually meant HYDRA rates because you knew of his past with them. “Maybe I could go undercover there, start out slow and work my-“
“Don’t leave.” Bucky blurts the words out so randomly, you can’t help but jump a bit, startled.
You turn to look at him, perplexed. “Wha-“ He isn’t looking at you. His gaze is penetrating...the floor. “I said; don’t leave.” He raises his head slightly, looking at you with caution. Scared of your reaction to his heated confession.
You’re stunned into silence. Bucky had never talked to you as much as he had just now. And you’d known him for almost a year. Aside from the polite “G’morning” or “pass me the salt please” now and again, he’d always been quiet around you. No idea why.
He amazed the fuck out of you though. How someone that was controlled and tortured for so long and forced to do such horrendous things yet was able to get up every morning was something you admired very much.
He takes your silence as some sort of weirded-out rejection and stands up, shaking his head lightly. “I’m sorry. Disregard anything-“
“Wait!” before he could make it far your hand shoots out faster than your brain can process and you grip his muscular forearm. Leaving you a stammering mess when Bucky glances at you with expectant aqua blue eyes.
“Uhh...I-i uh.” You lick your lips, shaking your head. “Uh to answer your question...” you offer him a smile, letting go of his arm tenderly and rubbing your own. It was strange to touch him. Granted, the minimal contact you’d have with him was really minimal so you weren’t used to being so close to him. Meaning you couldn’t exactly voice the fact that you suddenly felt the need to hear every word that came out of his mouth.
“I need a mission in order to prove myself to,” you laugh a little, “well...everyone.”
Bucky shakes his head, remaining silent for a while. “You really don’t.” he finally whispers, fiddling with his fingers. Something you’d recognized, as a nervous habit of his.
Tilting your head sideways, you frown. “Why would you say that? I-I’m the weak link in this team. I have zero experience out in the field and now I doubt I ever will.” you sigh, plopping down on your bed.
You can hear Bucky let out a disapproving huff from above you and you look up at him. “What?”
He shakes his head, disbelievingly. “Nothing. It’s just...” he chuckles a little and you try not to admire his rare small smile if even for a bit. “How could you ever think you’re the weak link in this team when y-you’re so...you.” he seemed to be struggling to find the right words to say, but you understood him nonetheless. This prompted a small blush and a racing heart.
You scoff at his notion, ignoring the fluttering in your heart. “Yeah so me. A monster.” your confession is so low, you’re surprised he even managed to hear you.
Silently, he sits next to you. ‘Fuck why did you have to say that out loud? Now he’s gonna ask what you meant.’ you curse yourself mentally, clenching your fists so hard, you thought your nails would pierce your skin.
He seems to take notice of your regretful gesture. “You know, if you’re a monster than I’m thirty-five years old.” his voice is still low, but slightly amused. You look at him in shock. Bucky almost never joked. Except for with Steve.
He clears his throat, his expression strangely doubtful. “Not funny?”
You snap out of it, chuckling a little. “No, it’s funny. I’ve just never heard you joke with anyone except Steve,” you mutter truthfully.
He sighs. “Yeah, I just don’t trust many people will find my humor that funny.” his voice is breathy. As if it’s hard for him to speak. You jokingly bump your shoulder with his and he looks at you with a slightly startled expression.
“Hey, don’t sweat it. You’re talking to the girl who spends more time joking about death than she actually does worrying about it.” you offer a shy smile and he chuckles a little, the corners of his eyes crinkling. It was a rare but heart-warming view.
“Yeah, I know. I heard you talking with Wanda about how cremation is your last hope for a smokin’ body.” he laughs loudly, throwing his head back and clutching his stomach. You feel the breath get knocked out of your lungs for a few seconds at the beautiful view. You don’t really notice that he’s stopped laughing and is now gazing at you with a small smile. Once you realize he’s probably caught you staring at him like an idiot, you can’t help bite your lip, averting your gaze from his.
You can feel your cheeks heat up and rubbing your arm nervously, you let out a soft laugh. “Yeah...it’s true though.” you can feel his warm body beside you all of a sudden and you try not to shift closer to it, despite itching to touch him again.
He immediately stops laughing and you face him. “No. I p-personally think you’re really beautiful Y/n.” his voice is shaky, nervous. But his eyes...oh his eyes are so sincere. You immediately stiffen up at his words, your heart skipping a beat and your face heating up for what felt like the millionth time in the span of a few minutes.
You bite your cheek, suppressing a small smile. “Are you sure Banner checked all of you out? Maybe he missed your eyes?” you shrug his comment off smoothly.
He chuckles. “Nope. I have a twenty-twenty vision.”
You shrug. “If you say so.”
You remain engulfed in a comfortable silence for a few seconds before he stands up, a small smile on his face. “I’ve gotta go catch up with the rest of the team, Y/n. Are you gonna be okay?” he sends you a small concerned frown. You purse your lips.
“Yeah, I’ll be fine, thanks.” you bite your lip and he sucks in a small breath. “Okay then, see you ‘round I guess.” he nods at you and you immediately smile at the small promise.
You respond with a small one of your own. “That I will, Bucky.” you send him a small wave and he smiles, slipping silently out of your room.

Stu,cky, that piece of the crap ship, wouldn’t be as disgusting as it is if it wasn’t for shippers, which to be true - can be said about 99% of ships anyway.
Still, I cringe mentally anytime I see it anywhere at this point so badly I need to block it out.
First of all: a lot of stuc,ky shippers take a lot of it from comics, and guess what, comic b,ucky is freaking awful and i hate everything about him. But the point is that when they meet, bu,cky is a minor, looks up to ste,ve, and stev,e drags him into ww2 battlefield which ends up with bucky dead.
Still; too close of mentor-prodigy, superhero-sidekick relationship for me to stomach it. Like. Just no. It’s teacher and pet situation stop.
Welp since bucky and steve in comic is awful let’s look at the not so awful movie relationship.
Honestly, I love the way they reworked Bu,cky in ste,ve/buc,ky relationship. In the end - even if bucky would still be a kid it’d not stop anyone (st*rker is awful let it die).
Two guys, having an amazing friendship the one that goes out and beyond, one where the other will always take care of one another, could kill and die for him, and would stay by his side forever. Awesome.
Honestly, it isn’t that this is a bad relationship to ship, it’s just that... there are so many reasons not to.
First of all - for some god damn reason this awful ship is one of the most popular ships in existence.
Meanwhile, Ir,onHusbands (R,hodey/Ton,y) barely exists in this fandom
I guess that’s where it goes down to: way too many shippers smell of gay fetishization
I know, I know - not all of them
But god damn do I puke whenever I see “uwu  cute white boys”
Every time when I see posts about how men cannot possibly be affectionate towards each other without making “no homo, but actually totally homo ;)))” posts
Every fucking time I see people straight up attack people who don’t ship St.ucky, who say that actual canon ships between buc.ky/nata.sha or ste.ve/pegg.y are better
Attacking both artists, rpers, fucking movie makers for homophobia just because they dont wanna play into your gay fantasy couple
Is fucking disgusting.
I got attacked because I sided with peggy roleplayer who rightfully got angry about erasing that awesome character for the sake of this awful ship. People actually got angry that st.eve is obviously still in love with her in movies and are like “he shouldve get over it by now ://// theyre just homophobic :///”
because they dont want to see that the undying love crap that can survive anything doesnt apply to their ship but actually canon relationship and they're god damn salty about this.
I hate more of Stucky shippers than the relationship itself tbh
I STILL HAVE MORE SALT TO COME DONT WORRY
The whole mcu plot line would be of ste.ve saving his uwu cute boyfriend
alright then
Not only Bucky obviously had been either cheating or they were not in a relationship in the war. And then Steve either cheated on him or they were not in the relationship during war.
I really dont think anything about stucky is considered healthy
I really don’t think burning through 117 countries, minimalizing the trauma that he went through (’it wasnt him’ bullshit is bullshit and fight me about it) THE FACT THAT HE’D BETRAY TONY IN SECOND OF SNAP OF HIS FINGERS FOR HIS LOVED ONES (stucky anti tony cunts can go fuck themselves)
and guess what - bucky still wanted to remain at wakanda, in peace while steve was out there fighting as its the only thing he freaking does
steve visited him, bucky was capable of fighting, he just didnt want to
bucky would be never happy by steve rogers side because steve’s nightmare in ultron is knowing that he can never have a happy domestic life because hes a soldier
So let’s sum up:
stucky in comics is awful on so many levels lets just leave it at that
stucky in mcu would be an unhappy, unhealthy relationship with either one of them sacrificing themselves for the other and probably not being able to survive it for long
James and Steve were fighting about morals in first cap right before james left, like
how some people think they are so similiar when every piece of evidence just shows us theyre literally opposites in a way. That’s why they got so much along as friends. That’s why they’d never be able to truly coexist in long lasting romantic relationship.
Stucky is bad.
Stucky shippers are evil part of this community.
