Rules: We would like to ask you to recommend us 3 of YOUR fics: 1 that is “most popular” and 2 that are “hidden gems”! (Thanks for the tag @fangirleaconmigo) I’ve ever had a fic be “popular” (Everyone talking about it, hundreds of kudos on the first chapter, featured on rec lists etc). I’m not a big writer, my current WIP, Little Bird, only has about five people reading it. So I just went with the three “single numbers”, kudos, subs and bookmarks. I didn’t include comments, even though they are my favourite metric, because the same person can leave more than one comment, especially on multichapter fics. Also wasn’t sure if we were just discussing witcher fandom, or multi, so I am “bending” the rules for Most Popular Fic.  So my most popular fic on my account is Blue Screen in the Detroit: Become Human fandom. Which doesn’t suprise me. I wrote it in the first half of 2018, in a popular fandom with a popular pairing, so it’s had a long time to build up its numbers. In the witcher fandom my most popular fic is also my first entry, There is a Monster Attacking Jaskier. I got the timing right with this one, with a popular pairing right after the first season of the netflix series came out, so it got a lot of attention at the time, and has slowly built up numbers since. And now Hidden gems. The one that immediately comes to mind is Them, which was my Dudu & Zoltan friendship fic. I’m not saying it’s the best I’ve written, but I did a lot of work for this fic, researching, asking questions, and just doing my darndest to make sure that I got the subject as right as I could, so it was difficult to then not see it do that well afterwards (It remains the second worst performing fic on my account).
I mentioned Little Bird earlier in this post, and I suppose my second “hidden gem” is  And the Greener Grass Beneath my Feet, which it is a sequel to. It is Lambert Centic AU in which he runs away from Kaer Morhen and joins the Viper School, and I spent over a year working on this, and remain very proud of it even though it never saw the popularity of other similar fics during its run. It is the longest and perhaps the most complicated fanfic I’ve ever written, and I put a lot of work into researching both lore and the various subject matters. It is also the first fic where I used a beta reader, TheLookoutRogue, who is very much responsible for this fic being as good as it is :-) <3 <3 I wish it could have made waves. I feel like it deserved to do better than it did :-( It still seemed to be liked by the people who did read it though <3 <3 <3 I tag anyone who reads this and wants to take part :-)

0: i didn't know you liked spy x family!
i do!!! i’m an absolute sucker for a good shoujo romance, so i’ve been on this ride since chapter two came out!!! :D
#asks#i found it via a popular tumblr post that became popular when chapter two came out#so i'm guessing that's how a lot of people found the manga#but that's how i started looking through the 'recently updated' or 'new series' sections of manga sites#bc i wanted to find more hidden gems like those#and boy have i found a few hidden gems#but the problem with the hidden manga gems is that uhhhh they rarely update bc scanlators have very little demand for them ;w;#it's not like with hidden gem fanfics where you can comment on a chapter or leave a kudos or smth to let the author know people are out the#what i'm saying is someone please translate the next chapter of shiori experience ;___;#it's weird but like really really good!!!#another series i never talk about it actually a korean manhwa called survive as the hero's wife#and every single manga/manhwa abt a girl reincarnating into the villain of an otome game#WANTS what survive as the hero's wife has#and the art improvement is just??? so fucking good??? like it was good from the start#but every chapter that comes out i stop and go 'god that is so beautifully drawn'#the scanlators are looking for typesetters and i've been thinking of joining for a while but#i'd rather join a scanlation group that scanned things from chinese or japanese y'feel?#bc i'm not interested in learning korean to the point where it'd be better than my chinese or japanese#and i'm sure i'd pick some up along the way of being part of a scanlation group#but like damn i just really admire the hella fucking good scanlation work lunalotusscans does like it is some GOURMET SHIT RIGHT THERE#anonymous

day 6: lesser known creators and creations- the hidden gems of fandom
Belated for @roswellnewmexicocreate [last few days have been challenging!]
New creators are the lifeblood of fandom, because not everyone stays in fandom or stays inspired to write for it. While there are times I just want to re-read a classic, there really is something fun about clicking on a new name to see what they think of our beloved alien show.
We have very long hiatuses, and sometimes people pull away until the show comes back, so I thought I would also highlight some lessor known creations as well from our last hiatus. As we are blessed in the malex side of fandom, there’s a small but mighty group of fans and creators, churning out new works every day, so maybe you might have missed these works.
***
calamitous by @bubblesyoh (3,962) - Two times they apologize to each other and three times they are so in love they can't even fool one another.
why i like it: most of us know bubblesyoh as being a supportive friend, reblogging and commenting so prolifically- but they are also an author! Malex have without a doubt hurt one another in canon, and there is an art to writing a good apology fic and this story does it well.
***
kill me tonight, darling by u1ltsa (4.867)-Alex and Michael have a memorable first meeting at a party. They keep running into each other and can't seem to get enough of one another.
why i like it: It’s a human AU where over the course of months, these two keep running into each other. Michael is so smitten in this story and can’t help chasing Alex and how Alex makes him feel. It’s sexy and kinky and ends happily ever after. My favorite meeting is still the bar scene that ends up at a hotel- wow.
***
next time will be the last time by kit alridge (1,715) "It's not how it's going to happen, next time. Because next time will be the last time we do the falling-back-together thing." After a close shave, Alex and Michael come close to falling back into old patterns, but have a much-needed conversation instead.
why i like it: I’m so weak for the “we survived let’s fuck to celebrate” trope, and this story explores what it means for Malex to fall into it, and how closely it mirrors some of their past, unhealthy behaviors. Anyway this hits all the notes that I pray we get in the second half of season 3, where these two finally talk and admit what they want.
***
tell me what you’ll do, please by @entropychanges (3,054) So, Michael, dripping like a wet mop on the restaurant’s tile floor, stood silently as he looked between the sister of the girl whose murder he covered up only two months ago, and his lover who would rather be sent off to war than be with him. Great. He swallowed, figuring he may as well break the silence.“Sorry, I wasn’t sure if-”“The kitchen is closed,” Liz interrupted, looking him up and down before saying, “but you can stay until the storm lets up.” Or, in which Michael gets caught out in the rain while sleeping in his truck, and ends up taking shelter in the last place he wants to be.
why i like it: Sometimes I like to cry about Michael, especially Michael at 17-18, after the shed. This story serves up all the angst of what his life looked like then, along with the grief that Liz was living in and the grim determination that Alex had about his own fate. They were all such babies and they were in such pain, and ugh that breaks my heart.
***
I’ll take care of you by @cosmiceverafter (2,055)  When Alex stops by Michael's airstream to confess how he's feeling, he ends up taking care of the alien he loves so much instead.
why i like it: classic hurt-comfort here, which I always eat up with a spoon. Highlights for me in this story was Michael was hurt working on a project from a natural disaster, and not anything self-inflicted, and then Alex finding that iconic picture of the two of them in the desert with guitars. Ooof so many feels!
***
look after you by @ravens-words  Everyone checks in on Kyle. 3x04 Coda
why i like it: well before we had it in 3x06, EJ delivered the whole found-family feels of everyone coming together to make sure Kyle is okay. As they should. Kyle holds the only brain cell. EJ has been a coda-writing machine since returning to RNM with the show, so definitely check out the whole collection for season 3, and not just the chapter I linked to because they are all so good.
***
honey, i’m going to love you all my life by wwwjudedotcom (3,729) Alex leaves Michael a voicemail after he loses his leg because he doesn't want to die without telling Michael that he loves him.
why i like it: this part of a great little series of fics surrounding prompts about ‘ways to say i love you’ - I’ve probably imagined Alex’s life post-injury in Iraq a million times, I so badly want to know if he dared to call Michael, did he call out for him in his morphine daze, is that how Greg knew about Michael? And I’m unsure if the show will ever answer this question, so it’s up to fanfic writers. Anyway, I love this little AU that lets Maria know just how important Michael is to Alex right from the start and where Isobel sends them to be with Alex in Germany. Ugh what a sweet thought (probably too sweet for the angst machine that is RNM).

Shimmer in the Sea: Chapter 2
Everyone in this fanfic is a merman/woman Roman is 17 Virgil is also 17 Roman can activate camouflage because e is from a royal bloodline I’m working on character sketches Humans in this universe are seen as myth because all human artifacts are kept hidden to prevent panic The boarder between the kingdom and the outside targets any VISABLE people in or out, hence Roman can get through The boarder also makes the kingdom invisible to anyone outside it who does not have magic I figured I would post both of these today because they are a bit of a package deal to understand some things going on and meet some main characters Senpai is what Virgil called his master who is master is will be revieled later Feel free to leave comments questions and suggestions!!
Chapter 2 Virgil- 1293 I swim out of the cave quickly. Senpai has been asleep for a while and I wanted to wake up early to get some practice before working with her this afternoon. Just as I am about to round the corner I hear something, it's stifled quickly and I turn quickly around to look for the source, I wait for a few seconds looking before I turn back around to continue. Now my anxiety’s up, but it's nothing I'm not used to, I tend to hear things in the ocean whenever I'm by myself. I try to convince myself that I'm just hearing things… but I can't shake the feeling that I'm being watched. After a bit of swimming in the quiet morning hours I stop. I raise my hand slightly and mutter an incantation, the water sparkles as I dissolve the cloaking spell on the underwater plane crash site. I look around again, still feeling uncomfortably watched, I scan the area carefully, not seeing anything. I swim into the plane through a hole in the back where the tail wings should be. The planes mostly cleared out and many of the seats are gone, after finding this plane I cleared them with a disappearance spell along with the bones and such. I move to the box I keep in here and sift through it taking out my favorite human item, I refer to it as my ‘siren box’ but Senpai told me it's a ‘phone’ I place the ear pieces over my ears and press start. I listen as the drums kick in playing through the headphones, according to the small touch screen box this is called My Chemical Romance, they're my favorite band. Senpai noticed my interest in human items and culture, so she tells me the names of the things I bring back home with me. I take a deep breath and pull some of my human items out of another box, in order to use them I typically have to waterproof them with a spell and then renew them with another spell. The spells aren't difficult to cast but there's so many items that I've gathered, so I have to do them a few at a time each morning. I take out another hoodie, waterproofing it before renewing it, my magic causes a blanket of purple to wash over the item, then it sparkles for a bit and turns back to its original colors. I do the same thing to a computer, another pair of headphones and some kind of jewelry, it looks small enough to go around your wrist, it's small and skinny made of leather I think, woven together with a magnetic clasp on the end. I clip it on to my wrist after fixing it with a smile. I feel satisfied with my human items of the day and glance at my reflection in one of the plane windows across from me, I touch under my eye gently noticing my dark magic usage circles are already forming. I frown slightly at it and stand up swimming up to the window to see my reflection clearer, my eyes must have already been dark, I didn't sleep all that well last night… another nightmare. I turn and move away taking my hoodie off so that I can practice my swordsmanship, I toss the hoodie to the side and take my sword from where it hangs on the wall unsheathing it. I set the scabbard off to the side and toss my sword up in the water before catching it, the sleek black blade fitting perfectly in my hand. The hilt is silver with a few black stripes snaking their way around it, small purple amethyst gems stud the onyx stripes on the hilt. I have some unbreakable and sharp enchantments on it and I used magic to design it to my liking. I move through some sword skills I was taught with it for a while, I'm not sure how long it's been but it's now light outside and I feel more tired than I was before. My sweat mixes into the already salty water as I sheath my sword and pull my hoodie back on before putting my scabbard on my back. I leave my headphones on as I gather my human items for the day and place them in the hoodie pocket before swimming back out of the plane. On the outside I recast the concealment spell and start to swim back to the caves, in my tired daze I didn't even notice that I nicked myself with my sword when sheithing it. While swimming my spine chills like something behind me and I stop and stiffen my headphones off my ears carefully placing them around my neck before drawing my sword turning around in one fluid motion. My steely confidant gaze meets the bleak hungry ones of a shark. My blood goes cold. I whisper a protection spell on instinct before my lungs tighten and make it hard to breathe. My sword falls from my hand as I freeze shaking and hyperventilating in the water, eyes closed as my paralyzing fear of sharks takes over. I should have been more careful. What was I thinking! I should have checked to make sure I wasn't hurt. I shouldn't have trained with my sword today. I shouldn't have swam out alone.
My breathing progressively gets worse along with the ringing in my ears as I wait for the shark attack… that doesn't come. I don't dare open my eyes in fear that they are merely toying with me. Something touches my shoulder and I flinch away hard, I hear them yelp in pain and absentmindedly think that my protection spell worked. Then I realize sharks don't yelp. I open my eyes timidly, my head is still tucked down so I see their tale first, a brilliant crimson red flecked with sparkling gold. The tale has a few white marks that almost look like shark bites on it along with a white stripe down the tailfin. My breath, that was just starting to even out, catches again but this time for a different reason. I trail my eyes up the tail in shock meeting the face that goes with it and confirming my suspicions. I meet his brilliant gold eyes with a quiet gasp of surprise.
 “R-roman…?” The question escapes me before I have time to catch it. I wave my hand and the protection spell falls, my breathing light and airy. I swim closer to him slowly, my eyes scanning his features. He's tall, somewhere around seven feet, he's wearing a nightshirt seemingly, the little gold crowns against the red fabric rippling in the water. His eyes are still the same deep gold that they've always been though the childish gleam in them that I had grown used to is gone. His copper bronze hair is styled nearly perfectly to the side yet still shows that he recently got out of bed. His red scales sparkle as he shifts some, “Roman!” I repeat his name louder this time in surprise and happiness before hugging him. “I-I thought… I thought you were dead… Wait- oh or I'm dead.” I say anxiously separating from him again. I look at his eyes once more and confusion clouds his features, he didn't return the hug either. “How do you know my n- why do I recognize you?” He asks in confusion watching me as I float in front of him, my eyebrows draw themselves together matching his confusion. He doesn't remember me…? That's when I notice my sword in his hand and the shark is dead on the ground behind him… bleeding. Questions can wait we need to get out of here.

MagiTale - Chapter 1
“So, how’s it gonna be?” – the voice rose up, surging from the darkness. A white weasel cat like creature.
“Go away!” – another voice, female now, hissed back. The figure of this voice was hidden by the shadows of the collapsed walls around her – “I don’t want to have anything to do with you. You tricked all of them! Their innocent minds, into becoming something they’d rather not!”
“I really don’t understand.” – the cat spoke – “You might as well be labeled as a Human, your ideals and concepts are roughly the same. But I digress.” – it stopped momentarily – “My offer is still on the table. You know where to find me.”
The cat turned away, seamingly wanting to distance itself from the other individual. It felt as if its time was wasted, but that didn’t exactly matter at the moment, as it knew what the next actions would turn out to be.
“Wait!” – the other voice jumped from the darkness – “Can you.. Can you really make anything come true?” – she questioned.
“Yes. Of course, as you already know, the true effects and consequences depend from your Karmic Weight, but you shouldn’t have any kind of problem with that.”
The other being made a pause. Her voice was calm, motherly, but sprinkled with a dash of urgency. As if her worst nightmares could finally end. Now her dreams, her ideal life, her past, it would all come back to her.
“Okay then. I’ve decided.” – she replied.
“Very well. Then what is the wish you’re willing to sacrifice your Soul for, your highness?”

Chapter 1: Fallen Down
╚═══*.·:·.☽✧ ✦ ✧☾.·:·.*═══╝
Dark. Darker. Yet darker. I don’t even know if my eyes are open or not, but all I can see is darkness. Well, that and a distant voice echoes, as if I was deep underwater. A cold shiver envelops my whole body. But within that darkness, the voice gets louder. It’s lifting me up. With that, the darkness gets a bit more clearer. I open my eyes, slowly, and everything starts coming to me, bit by bit.
“Frisk! Oh, please tell me that you’re okay!”
I avert my gaze to the point of origin of the voice. A girl sitting on the same bed of flowers as I am looks at me, worried. Her hair is dark brown, just like me, and her eyes are a striking, vibrant red, just like my own. Except mine are usually closed. The girl is slightly see through. I can look at her and see the wall behind her at the same time. I know this girl. Yes, she’s important to me.
I was roughly 5 when I started noticing her presence. Everyone treated her as an imaginary friend, but I knew more. She was real. She IS real. She has a real story, and a real life. But now she’s a ghost that got stuck me. I don’t exactly know why though. She told me about Humans and Monsters. About Souls and Soul Gems. About Magical Girls and Witches. She told me everything. Even her name.
“Chara. Yes, yes, I’m okay.” – I managed to reply back at her.
“Oh, thank God! That fall was sure to put in you in a coma for at least half a year! I’m so sorry I’ve put you through this…” – she replied back at me, a clear worry in her voice.
“Don’t worry Chara. I signed up for this. I want to do this.” – it’s funny. My brain knows what to say, but it can’t remember why it’s saying what it is. I look around myself. I’m now sitting on a bed of flowers, golden buttercups. Giant walls of stone surround us, with vines covering them. The light above shines on us, warming our bodies. And just like that, more pieces of the puzzle fall back into my mind.
“Now that everything’s cleared up, what is your wish?”
“Frisk, you don’t have to do this, for real.”
“No, I have to. You’re stuck to me. You can’t exactly walk around and go back to the Underground. I’m going to help you. We’re gonna save them Chara.” – my voice fills my brain, alongside Chara’s and… his.
“Incubator. I wish for the power of salvation.”
“Can you specify that please?”
Yes, that’s it. I remember now. I get up, and see a small corridor, leading to a huge gateway entrance. Sparkles of light come out from it. There’s some kind of light source coming from it. We decide to move towards it.
As we reach it, we look inwards and find a single golden flower, similar to those earlier. We step into the wide area, and suddenly, the flower jumps to life.
“Howdy there! I’m Flowey – Flowey the Flower!” – it said happily. Chara warned me about how sudden Monsters could be, but I wasn’t expecting something like this.
“Say, you’re new around here, aren’t ya? You need someone to guide you through the Underground!” – it said happily.
“Well, actually--” – I tried to object, as I had Chara right next to me, but the flower just interrupted me.
“I guess little ol’ me will have to do it!” – it winked.
Suddenly, I felt a huge wave crushing my chest, as my surroundings lose its color. It becomes a mash-up of black and white. And just as it came, it left.
“Huh?” – the happy flower looked at me with very confused eyes – “Let’s try that again!” – he said cheerfully, as the feeling came back, pushing me downwards once more, but suddenly stopping. I wasn’t hurt, nor exhausted. It’s as if I just sneezed, for no apparent reason.
“Heh, hehe.. Okay…” – it continued, clearly starting to get annoyed – “Let’s try that one more time!” – I felt that energy again, but it no longer phased me. It’s now a very uninteresting movie for me.
“Hey, hey.. What’s going on, huh?!” – the tone of Flowey changed drastically. From a very friendly one to a tone filled with a thousand year anger – “You’re a Human, aren’t you? Where the hell is your Soul?!” – it hissed.
“Oh!” – I was taken by surprise, with such a direct approach, but I tried my best to befriend the friendly monster – “That’s right…” – I extend my hand, as the ring in my left middle finger glows and morphs into an egg shaped Gem, resting on my palm – “Here!”
There was a small pause. The flower starred in disbelief at my Soul Gem. It was a vibrant red, the same color as my eyes. Right at the top of it, was a heart symbol, and at the bottom, surrounded by a small circle, a four pointed star. The flower suddenly smirked, and was emitting an uneasy light cackle.
“Frisk, I don’t really trust this guy… he’s giving me really weird vibes….” – Chara spoke to me. Good thing only I can see and hear her, makes some of her comments easier to bear with. But still, now I’m worried. Chara lived quite some time with Monsters. For even her to be set back.. This “flower” must be something she has never seen.
Flowey’s laughter grew louder and louder, as vines erupt from the ground below him into the air, keen to claws of a starving wolf. He sprung his head upwards and looked straight into my eyes. His face was contorted. He no longer had his friendly smile, it was a monstrous look. His eyes void of life.
“WELL, THEN YOU’RE COMPLETELY USELESS TO ME, AREN’T YOU?! THIS WILL BE FAR TOO EASY FOR ME.” – a wall of bullets surround me in a perfect sphere – “D I E.”
I can see his vines lunging towards me, and the bullets dashing into me. I have my Soul Gem in my hand. Transforming takes only a second, I can protect myself from this. But I can’t. I froze in place, clinging to my own life, as the last bits of my life flash through my mind.
“I wish to have the power to save the Monsters. To save them from the Barrier and their thousand year prison. That’s what I want. The power of salvation.”
“I see. I don’t know why, but your Karmic Weight is quite heavy on you. Frisk, your wish will most certainly come true, but in order for it to come into fruition, you must go break the Barrier yourself.”
“That’s something I’m willing to do unconditionally. Nothing will stop me.”
‘Nothing’. Yet here I am, praying for someone to come help me. Please, anyone.
But… Someone did come.
As I waited for the impact of Flowey’s bullets and thorned vines, I suddenly hear a scorching sound and warmth, followed by Flowey’s screams. I open my eyes to find the unscrupulous flower burning in flames, and the bullets are now cinders slowly dancing and falling to the ground, as the flower retreats to whatever hellish hole it came from. From the other side of the room, a figure approaches.
She’s tall, and covered in white fur. She has small horns on her head and floppy ears at the side of her head. She’s wearing a dressing gown, purple with a crest on her chest – a circle with wings, and three triangles right under it. I can feel Chara’s intense gaze at her as she whispers – “Mom..”
“Oh, what a horrible creature torturing such a poor and innocent youth.” – she spoke to me, her voice calm, motherly, tender. Happy – “My name is Toriel, caretaker of the Ruins. Come my darling, let me guide you through them.”
She quickly grabbed my hand. I can feel her warmth warming me up from the inside out. Her aura, her presence. I enjoy being next to her. I feel like wanting to be with her forever. I can see Chara crying. This must be a hard moment for her. We make haste for the next room, where I can see red rose petals scattered around the floor. I catch a glimpse of a yellow shine, but it quickly disappeared.

Chapter 10 ~ Lost From Within
Announcement: Since we are halfway to twenty chapters, I am going to take a break from posting for a couple of weeks(possibly after chapter 11 next week..maybe). I need time to catch up and write out the rest of the story. My focus has mainly been on other writing projects and one-shot requests. So this fanfic needs some much needed love. I want to thank you all for those who love and support this story. I enjoy reading the comments and seeing what each and every one of you have to say. Don't worry I'm not giving up on this story. I just need a break so I don't burn out and leave it incomplete.
I also want to quickly add that twenty chapters is the goal. Doesn't mean I'll stop there however...well hopefully.
Love yall lots! Enjoy!!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The courtyard was full of lined path bushes, trees and many flowers. Insects were crawling, flying and helping the nature surrounding them. Connie at first wondered how this was possible, then Peridot had explained that Steven had ordered a few gems to retrieve things like this back on earth. She and many other gems like herself were ordered to replicate earth's nature. It wasn't too difficult to manage. Though was mainly an excuse to annoy the Diamonds out of spite. However glancing up at Steven, for the part of his face she could see, something in her gut told her he liked it more than he let on.
Her gaze moved from his face to their entwined hands. Through the leather gloves she still felt the warmth between them. It made her blush a little as she looked away. Suddenly she felt him stop, following suit as her eyes followed where Steven was looking.
"Here we are." Connie gasped at the sight before her. The view of the pavilion was beautiful. Circular and well hidden yet also stood out amongst the Garden. A small river with a bridge laid beside it. What laid underneath the roof was a array of foods and a table setting. Along with candelabras everywhere.
"It's beautiful..." Feeling her hand being pulled forward she quickly followed him over the bridge and under the pavilion. He gestured for her to sit as he did the same. The scent of all the gourmet stuff before them truly was intoxicating. "I don't understand."
"Well then that makes two of us." Steven spoke having opened what appeared to be a wine bottle and poured them both a glass. So much so that the sound pulled Connie out of her thoughts from his comment.
"Oh I don't-"
"There is no alcohol in this, I assure you." Once finished he set the wine bottle down before gracefully picking up his glass. Smirking a tad before gesturing her to do the same. After a moment Connie picked her's up, trying to imitate how others back on earth held a glass of wine. It felt weird for her to do so but since there was no alcohol, she supposed there wasn't any harm. After they clinked their glasses, she brought hers upon her lips. Allowing the smooth, cool and tasteful drink in her mouth and down her throat.
"Thank you." Steven had taken another sip before leaning back a tad in his chair. Watching as she set her's down gently on the table. The glow of the candlelight and fireflies illuminated her beauty. Still he had to focus on why he brought her here in the first place. For the next few moments they sat in silence. The sounds of silverware tapping their plates and crickets echoed in the background. He almost hardly ate a thing, watching her the entire time. Wondering why ti was her that caused him the most confusion recently. After awhile, as he wiped his hands with the cloth napkin and she dabbed her lips with er own, he spoke up. Finally getting to the point of there little get together.
"You have many questions for me." Her gaze met his immediately at his statement, reassuring that what he said was correct.
"I thought I wasn't allowed to ask any questions." Her tone full of subtle sarcasm.
"Perhaps that was so, however it would appear things have changed." He swirled the glass slightly, watching as drops of the red liquid stuck to the inside; as if bleeding upwards. "I have told you of...him." The expressions on her face turned from a cloud of confusion, to clear and transparent realization of what he was implying.
"Yes... I'm assuming he looks like you." He chuckled slightly before setting the glass down.
"In a way yes, however you have seen him before..." Connie tilted her head as her brows furrowed in confusion. When it suddenly struck her. Images of Steven turning pinkish red flashed through her mind. Her eyes widened as she pieced it together.
"That was him, wasn't it...."
"Ah, you finally made the connection, well somewhat actually."
"What do you mean somewhat?"
"The physical image of him is what you saw. But he hardly has any emotion without me." He folding his hands together on the table. Connie looked down at her own hands contemplating all he gave so far.
"Then what he spoke to me... the emotion came from you, the human half of you." His smirk faded as her narrowed his eyes slightly, using his power to not let the blush he was feeling show. Still Connie realized she was spot on with her assumption, as she watched him falter a bit.
"He learned it from me..." Was all Steven spoke before regaining his composure. Connie nodded as her curiosity grew from the burning question lingering in her mind since she first heard that voice.
"I see... but I suppose, if I may be so bold as to inquire, my only question is this." She took in a deep breath before answering. "Why can I hear him? I'm no creature of magic."
"While that is true, I think you know more than you're letting on." His statement made her froze in place.
"What? I don't know anything!" His eyes began to glow as if she was prey. It was becoming more and more uncomfortable as she stood up, her chair falling with a loud thump behind her. He had followed her actions, though a tad more eloquently.
"Oh but I believe you do..." The tone in his voice low and almost sensual. As he approached her, she took a step back, continuing the pattern until her back reached a pavilion column. Steven pressed his hand beside her head, his other holding her chin and cheeks between his fingers and palm.
"Maybe not on the surface... the answer is hidden." the tone and implication in his voice made her tremble slightly.
"Y-you can't do this!" Her voice was shaking as well.  "I-I don't know anything!"
"Oh have you forgotten? I OWN you...well I will shortly. Unless you want innocent lives to be destroyed. Now, let's find out." Without warning he pressed his lips against her own, not caring if the mask scraped against her skin this time. Her hands pushed against his chest, but was was useless as he pressed his hands on her back as he kept her in his arms. The kiss much more rough than before.
'STOP!'
It was the voice again, only this time it made Connie take action. Something inside of him didn't want this, but she couldn't focus to much on that now. With a free hand she slapped his bare cheek so hard he pulled back and groaned, taking in a sharp breath. The sound echoing between them as he held a hand to his face. Their breathing was hard and deep as she began to step away from him.
"You are a horrible man! I don't belong to you!" She shouted before running away from the scene. Wanting to get as far away as possible, wiping away the sensation from her lips though failing at the same time. Steven watched as she fled from him. Eyes wide as the sting on his cheek began to fade.
'You drove her away, this is your fault'
'I thought if we... I never meant....' His thoughts were incomplete sentences but it didn't matter. Couldn't turn back time or change what he had done. And for the first time in years, he felt weak. Mixed into the overwhelming feelings of guilt.
'Intentions or not, you hurt her.'
With that he shouted so loudly it was almost inhuman. Lifting the table up and flipping it to the side. Pushing the candelabras down, the force so quick it blew out the flames before it could destroy the pavilion. Walking out he began to destroy all in site. A few gems were unfortunately caught in his raged poofed within a matter of seconds. Their gems falling upon the grass. Some were accidentally cracked from impact whilst falling on the concrete path.
The glow he was emitting was a lot more brighter than usual. Spikes from hand tore down everything that stood in his way. Upon seeing the human zoo he paused before slowly walking up towards the door.
'Do you want to loose her?'
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Over the next couple of days, Connie avoided Steven like the plaque. Keeping busy as she practiced her sword-training with Pearl, the Library organizing and writing down her notes for when she got back to earth. Thoughts swirled around and around her mind as she hardly slept, barely ate and just kept on distracting herself from any intrusive thoughts.
It was obvious to everyone else that something had happened between them. Especially since Steven had disappeared for a few days. Connie couldn't help but feel inward joy knowing that. Although that was little energy spent since she had almost non at all. Her eyes barely kept open, scrapes covered her body and muscles aching. Pearl was in charge so she couldn't train like before. But that didn't stop her from training on her own.
The next day, she had finished her extensive training, drank loads of water and began to help with the work about the library. While standing on a high ladder step, rearranging some books, she yawned and began to lean backwards. At first it was just a tad , then more and more. Until suddenly she was falling backwards.
Letting out a slight scream as her feet swept out from under her with the wind. Then all at once she felt still. No wind brushing fast against her ears, stayng perfectly still in mid air. Of course she knew it wasn't her levitating. Lapis was right there, thankfully, just in time before anything serious happened. Bringing her down to a chair, the others gathered around.
"Okay Connie, you need to rest and get some sleep!" Lapis stated a bit to loudly. It was obvious she quite literally fell into an intervention of sorts. Karma really does catch up with a person.
"I don't have any-"
"You can cut the excuses Connie." Bismuth spoke firmly, crossing her arms. "We know something has been bothering you and are apparently doing a lot to avoid it."
"I mean it's not like it's serious" Connie lied with a small smile. "I might have overdone it a tad, big deal."
"A tad, hm?" Bismuth repeated slowly. Obviously they were not convinced. "Peridot, please give me your diagnosis on our friend here." Her tone softened a bit on that word.
"Affirmative!" Peridot got closer to her face making Connie leaning away slightly into the chair back. "Dark circles, eyes strained." Moving back she circled around her. "Muscles are showing signs of aching, Got a tad more thinner, and not in a good way, hair is a bit messed up..."
"What does my hair got to do-"
"...and from what I gather" Peridot continued ignoring Connie's question. "I would diagnosis this as, avoiding whatever is making her stressed out."
"Okay I get it!" She stood up only to have both Lapis and Bismuth pull her back down.
"Connie, whatever is bothering you, we can help. We are worried about you too." Lapis spoke while kneeling down on the floor beside her. Connie looked at her hands, unable to focus her gaze nor stop from continuously shaking. She couldn't deny her rest any longer. Closing her eyes for a brief moment, images from the night she last saw Steven, and the feeling of being used came flooding back instantly. Tears threatened to pour out as she bit her lip and sighed out any emotions she felt right then.  Instead she smiled faintly with a sort of defeated look.
"You all are right, I have been pushing myself more than usual. I guess it's because I'm facing the reality that I will be loosing my own home planet soon." It was strange and beyond bizarre. Of course she was upset over that. Feeling the prejudice of not belonging in his highness' court? Or here amongst gem kind period. Unfortunately she was used to that.
She already knew what was to happen. But did she accept it truly? Or did she just learn to deal with it and pushed away all her emotions on the matter? At the moment she couldn't face those questions. Right now all that clouded her mind was the person that she tried to distance herself from. When it came to Steven, everything was a blur. Her heart was pounding every time she was near him, and he has kept his promise to her so far.
However he was using her. Blaming her for the voice, or other half, surfacing from within himself as if it's her fault. Like she was responsible. Not to mention all the times he held her close without hardly any consent. Still she couldn't deny either that she grew sort of fond of it. In a strange, messed up and (in her mind) sick sense. So before her thoughts could spiral out of control, Connie shook her head and breathed in deeply.
"I think I need to sleep, I'll see you around!" With that she quickly ran out of the room. Needing to get away and be alone. Alone with her thoughts for the first time in weeks.
"Wait! Connie! We can help you!" They all cried out to her, in vain. Already out of earshot.
That night she tossed and turned in her sleep. Images of them together flashed in her mind. When he held her during the first session, carried her away in his arms, the pavilion picnic, the kiss... Everything swirled around and around in her mind. ...
Then she saw him turning towards her. Eyes glowing pink as he advanced in her direction. Connie instantly backed up until she hit the wall. Or what she thought was the wall. Turning around slowly she gasped and took a step back. It was his other half, all pink with pitch black eyes. Screaming she tried to run, but the human half pulled her back in his arms. Blood covered his hands.
"Where are you going? You can't run away from me." She struggled to push him off or pull herself away. But nothing seemed to work. Then the gem half gripped her chin and both her cheeks with one hand. Pulling her closer.
"He's right you know" Both held her down against them as her eyes darted back and forth between them. They laughed and laughed as the human half moved in closer. Lips almost touching hers. The gem half caressing her waist and middle. Almost like they were chaining her to them both. With no key.
"You belong to us" They laughed maniacally so while out of her peripheral vision, the earth exploded into a million pieces...along with multiple human corpses and blood. Reaching out to a familiar body that was her father, tears pouring down her face, she froze.
There on her own hands was drops of blood. Her father's blood.
"NO!!!" She shouted jolting herself up from her nap. For the second time since she arrived. Holding her chest while trying to control her breathing. But it didn't last long, flashes of dead corpses and the blood on her hands etched in her mind, as she covered her mouth. Racing towards the bathroom and leaned over the toilet. All the bile that rose from her stomach to her throat, she couldn't keep down any longer.
After hacking up everything in the span of five minutes, which shocked her since she hardly ate previously. Perhaps this was another side affect to that. Leaning against he wall she took another couple of minutes before reaching out and turning on the water in the tub. Washing her face from before and allowing the warm waters to ease any aches she had. Slowly allowing the tub to fill before putting her entire head under. Trying to let the water wash away any worries she had. But to no avail. Still it was soothing and helped to at least ease the tension.
It had only been an hour but she wasn't going back to sleep again. Once fully calmed from her dream, face and hair cleaned and dried up from before, she got up towards the balcony to get some fresh air. Putting her hair in a long braid and using her fingers to detangle while doing so. Still feeling a bit sore from before, but was okay for now.
Tying the end of her braid she pushed the door open and breathed in the cool she felt. Placing her hands upon the railing and leaning forward. Taking a few minutes to think of nothing and just breath. Moments later she faintly heard what sounded like fighting in the courtyard. Looking down below she saw Amethyst and Jasper going at it like one would poof the other.
Amethyst used her whip to wrap around a stone pillar. With a large tug she pulled the pillar out from the foundation. Causing it to crumble on top of Jasper. However she dodged it before any debris could hit her. Punching a few stone out with her bare fists as she laughed at the sight before her. Then she rolled herself into a sort of 'sonic-the-hedgehog' move and raced towards Amethyst.
She dodged the attack and landed right on the opposite end of the pathway. Using her whip she flung it towards Jasper. However in a haze of spinning orange and flowing hair, what happened next shocked them both to the core. Instead of wrapping around Jasper, it only got her arm. She smirked and laughed while pulling her arm back which in turn pulled Amethyst closer since she held the other end of the whip.
Before Amethyst could retaliate, Jasper punched her to the ground below. Watching as she slid deep in the grass, making fresh dirt appear beneath her. Hitting her head and upper body against another pillar. Groaning she tried getting up but Jasper kicked her down.
Again...again....again...
Continuously until Amethyst could barely see. Then she felt her throat being encased and tightened in a large hand. Jasper held her in the air and laughed at the sight before her. Watching as Amethyst waved her arms around and tried to break free and fight back. But it was useless since Jasper did have the upper hand when it came to brutal strength.
"I can't believe you, a prime kinder-garden gem would come out so pathetic. And yet are still willing to fight, even though you are the most useless gem in the entire universe! I mean look at you! A prime kindergarden gem loosing to the strongest Beta gem! Well not so surprising know me. However this doesn't change who you are. A runt, a pathetic weakling, a failure!"
"Let her go Jasper! If you're the strongest gem here, why don't you prove it and fight me!" Both gems turned to see Connie, sword in hand. Though not nearly full on energy, she had just enough to scale down the strong vines from the balcony to the garden and ready for a fight. What she was was brutal. Cruel didn't even begin to describe what she felt form what she saw. Jasper let go of Amethyst and walked towards her new opponent.
"Looks like we have a foolish challenger here." She growled a bit annoyed that she interrupted her fight. "I'll give you one chance to walk away before I pulverize you for good!" Connie didn't say a word. Only adjusted her stance to show she wasn't going to back down. Especially not after all she saw.
Everything begins with your stance. Keep it wide, body lowered and as your moving forward balance is the key.
Words from Pearl served her well as she was able to dodge Jasper's first attack. Blocking it well as she ducked and swung her sword against her arm. For gems they didn't get hurt the same way humans do of course. But Jasper was less in pain and more annoyed that Connie got him so easily.
Right foot, Left foot, now go even faster
Raising her fist and flung it towards her middle as quick as she could. However Connie had a smaller frame and was a lot more limber. So she dodged and rolled under Jasper's legs. Turning while standing up from the other side and kicking her backside. Causing Jasper to stumble forward from both moments of the kick and her fist.
On the battlefield when everything is chaos and you have nothing but the way you feel, your strategy and a sword.
After that it was a constant motion of dodging attack after attack. Connie used her sword to block her fists and kept advancing backwards. Carefully looking around to see where she can gain the advantage here. Spotting a tree with a very special looking branch, she smiled and began to use her footwork to make them go in that direction. Then at the precise moment, she ducked and rolled backward. Jasper hitting the tree branch and watching as the tree itself fell down.
Deep down you know, you weren't built for fighting, but that doesn't mean you're not prepared to try.
Connie took a few more steps back away from Jasper. Just enough distance to paused before going at it again. Her back hit a wall suddenly and with one glance she instantly recognized it. The wall that separated the courtyard from the human zoo. It was strong and durable through the most horrific of fights, but this wasn't a good time to test it when Jasper was beyond furious with her. Speaking of which Jasper came almost flying at her, another blow to give her. Jumping up at the last second she landed on top of the wall. Jasper followed her as they adjusted for the small foot space beneath them.
Hitting her in the head she watched as she stumbled back. Laughing as her helmet reformed and cracked her knuckles. Pushing her off the wall forcefully, Connie used her sword to scrape the wall and slow her speed. Then kicking herself off she landed back on the grass. Watching as Jasper jumped towards her and in the last second, flung her sword towards her body. Hoping to poof her and end the fight. Connie had already begun to feel the fatigue inside her. But she wasn't giving up. With a cloud of dust from her landing, in that moment everything was silent.
Until Connie gasped in shock
There was Jasper, still standing as she laughed louder and louder. Taunting her with every passing second as she pulled out the sword. Breaking it in half with her knee and letting it almost disintegrate right before her eyes. Connie's eyes were wide in fear. Knowing full well that without the sword she wasn't going to win this fight. Jasper smirked and finally stopped laughing so hard.
"Well, newbie, I didn't think you had this in you. I must admit you are a tough fighter, for a human."
"Is that you forfeiting the fight?" Connie asked sarcastically, brows furrowed and fists ready to fight.
"No"
With that Jasper punched her back so hard, she hit a tree. Thankfully not enough to have any spinal damage or broken bones. However just enough to knock her out of her senses. Shaking she put both her hands on the ground and tried getting up. Failing to do so as she fell and moaned in pain. Eyes closed she heard Jasper's footsteps getting closer. The ground shaking beneath her slightly from the heavy footsteps she took. Bracing herself for the impact that was too come.
"I win this fight, newbie."

https://archiveofourown.org/works/157220?view_full_work=true Here’s bobbiejelly’s talk about how much Sex & Caring in Seattle is the very best ever. Full link above, Chapter 1 on Ao3 link is here:   https://archiveofourown.org/works/157220/chapters/226527   So this is probably one of the most classical Meredith/Addison fanfictions on the planet. It’s an epic WIP that still has potential to be finished. And I haven’t given up hope! Bluefall on Ao3 can be found here: https://archiveofourown.org/users/Bluefall/pseuds/Bluefall     DISCLAIMER: Everything that I’m about to say next maybe I have no right to say or share or promote or whatever, but for all that it’s worth, the links are still up and nothing required a signup (except to comment) and all of it’s public soooooo….   Anyone could have found this as I have. And I want it to be found easier. Because it’s so worth it.   So where do I, bobbiejelly, come in? Recently, I personally have been compiling an archive of all the places to read Meredith/Addison fanfiction ever. And in this search I have come across a lot of hidden gems. And the following are some of them… So, I’m taking a shot in the dark here, and Bluefall if you ever reach out to me on here or on Dreamwidth and tell me you’d like me to deleted this I will in a heartbeat. But allow me to say that I’ve been searching the internet recently for Addison/Meredith fics. And I found on the LiveJournal tag for Bluefall here: https://ga-fanfic.livejournal.com/tag/author:%20bluefall   Which has all broken links due to the purged account that there at some point was a piece called “Epilogue” a one-shot that’s interconnected-but-not-really that was written alongside the back half chapters of Sex & Caring.   ·   Description from LiveJournal here: ·   ·   BLUEFALL ·   April 16th, 2008, 11:41 pm Epilogue Title: Epilogue Characters/Pairings: Meredith/Addison Rating: PG Summary: Meredith and Addison through the years. Assumes an established relationship (hence the title).   (Follow the fake cut) · TAGS   author: bluefall, shipper: addison/meredith · · 3 · LEAVE A COMMENT         Anyway, so I found that there and then went on a goose chase to find that fanfiction, and I was pleasantly surprised when I took a shot in the dark on the platform Dreamwidth, that a lot of people into the ga-fanfic community on LiveJournal were also into.   And I found that Bluefall’s Dreamwidth site was not actually purged at the same time as the LJ one. And that the epilogue fic is there. AND that there are two interlude fics for Sex & Caring there. AND that there are more MerAdd one-shots written by Bluefall even before this author wrote Sex & Caring all of those years ago (maybe? The timeline is fuzzy here because at some point that author first posted it on FF where it disappeared from so it’s hard to tell what came first…).   But I digress, here is Bluefall’s Dreamwidth page:   https://bluefall.dreamwidth.org/     Here is the link to the Sex & Caring page: https://bluefall.dreamwidth.org/tag/sex+%26+caring   On that, here are the two interludes between (I won’t spoiler this here) but they are amazing! As the original author recommended, I’d say also don’t read these until you’ve finished (currently Chapter 19) the fic because of spoilers, but if you’re already here in the comments like me asking for more, well, here it is : https://bluefall.dreamwidth.org/30581.html   And finally, here is the piece called “Epilogue” a standalone that is NOT a true ending to Sex & Caring, but not-not that either. What? Erm, allow the original author’s words to explain:   Bluefall An Autumn Shade of Azure GREY'S: EPILOGUE Grey's: Epilogue Apr. 16th, 2008 11:00 pm bluefall Title: Epilogue Fandom: Grey's Anatomy Warnings: none Summary: Mer and Ads, through the years. A/N: I wrote this originally as an epilogue to Sex & Caring, but I have been a true champion about not finishing that story, and I realize that this doesn't entirely fit with it, and works better as a standalone anyway, so here it is.   The link is here: https://bluefall.dreamwidth.org/14961.html   And the link to all of their other Grey’s One-Shots are here:   https://bluefall.dreamwidth.org/?tag=grey%27s+anatomy&skip=20   And individually here:   Honesty: https://bluefall.dreamwidth.org/10895.html   Grey's - Hypotenuse : https://bluefall.dreamwidth.org/9109.html   SOOOOOO There you have it. And I’ll even post a link to the Sex & Caring Dreamwidth Chpater 1 page in case for some obscure reason you’d rather actually read Chapter 1-18 on that platform:   https://bluefall.dreamwidth.org/18872.html   Anyway, so that’s what I’ve found in my research.   Have a great day and take from that what you will.   And there’s also a lot of comments on the chapters on Dreamwidth and LiveJournal for this fanfic that are really cool to read. A lot of familiar usernames from Ao3 and Dreamwidth, Livejournal, from back in the day. It’s really fascinating to see the reactions that were then, in real time, and now, a decade ago.   Fanfiction is truly timeless, and I welcome you to check out these archives if you want. I certainly have. And it made my day!!! bobbiejelly https://archiveofourown.org/users/bobbiejelly

Anyway, tagged all these people because they’ve liked one of my MerAdd meddison posts and/or followed me at some point, and thought you’d all want to know this.
All responsibility goes to @bobbiejelly if the original author Bluefall emerges from the floorboards and is upset that their old Dreamwidth is being disseminated widely for people to fawn over a decade later :D.
This has also been commented widely on Ao3 in the replies to chapter 19, where people were asking for another chapter, and I just linked them these things...
CHEERS!

I'm sorry if you've been asked this before but what fanfiction platform do you think has the most reader engagement? I cross post to ffn and Ao3 and I was considering making a wattpad account, but I was nervous because wattpad seems to have a bad reputation in the fanfic community?
Thanks for the question! I have already talked about this a bit, [x] but I certainly don’t mind elaborating more. 😊
I don’t think there is a definitive answer to your first question. Engagement depends on too many factors to determinate which site yields the highest engagement in an absolute way, I think it’s something to look at on a case-by-case basis.
Concerning FFN and AO3, I’m pretty sure of my conclusion that, while FNN’s audience can be interested in a wide range of genres, AO3′s one mostly only care about shipping. (Or I could even say porn, actually.) So, if you’re writing genfics, FNN would generally be a safer bet. The difference isn’t so great, but I think there is one. However, this isn’t absolute. I have one story (White Lies) that initially didn’t do very well on FNN (compared to my other stories) but got a lot more feedback than I was used to on AO3. This story is completely gen, so I cannot explain the reason. The same can also be true on a chapter-by-chapter basis, actually… I’ve had instances where I didn’t get as many reviews as I was used to on FNN, only to get more on AO3. I don’t have any explanation.
However, there is something else I should point out. On FNN, I can even get an engagement that is almost close to some of the popular writers around, genfics or not. (Contemporary writers, clearly – making a comparison with older fics is useless as the feedback used to be much richer.) In contrast, on AO3 my feedback is definitely a lot lower than most other writers, especially those who write romance. This could be because their fics are much higher quality than mine, of course. However, it’s a phenomenon I have observed quite consistently. This would bring me to the conclusion that, while posting a genfic on a site or another doesn’t make such a big difference, the difference may be more significative for shipping fics, that get a much a higher engagement on AO3. (Of course, this is, once again, not absolute. And it always depends on the ship and many other factors.)
But that’s only for AO3 and FFN. As far as Wattpad is concerned, instead… as I have already mentioned, the site not being built for fanfiction but simply allowing it along with original fiction generates a lot of issues in terms of tagging and classification. I think that both AO3 and FFN are better than Wattpad for posting fanfiction. This doesn’t mean one couldn’t also crosspost on Wattpad in the hope of getting a few more readers, however. I just wouldn’t recommend it as primary posting site.
As you mentioned, Wattpad has a bad reputation. To be perfectly honest, I think it’s earned: from what I was able to see, the writing quality is generally abysmal. You can find some hidden gems, of course, but they’re few and far in between. I don’t think this should discourage you from posting there, however. The quality of your fics doesn’t depend on the site you post them on. If you write good fics, they will be among the rare good ones you can find on Wattpad. 😊
You should also be aware that the userbase tends to be quite young, though – young teens and even pre-teens. I actually don’t think I would have made an account on Wattpad if I had known this, it feels kind of too childish. But I didn’t realize this until I had already posted a few fics and gained a few readers who only use Wattpad, so deleting everything felt unfair to them.
The main reason I wouldn’t recommend Wattpad is that new stories are really hard to see. There is only one way to see stories in chronological order, but it’s not straight-forward and I suspect not many people use it. (And it doesn’t even always work.) In general, people read stories because, when you click on a work, you also get a list of recommended ‘similar’ stories. How they get recommended, however, I have no idea. In general, the recommended stories are already a bit popular. You need to already have a bit of engagement for your story to be recommended. I really don’t have the slightest idea of how you can get from a completely new story with no engagement to having just enough engagement to get your story circulating through recs. For months, I didn’t have a single comment or like. I don’t know what made things change.
On a more positive note, Wattpad users tend to be very generous with their comments. Since you can leave a comment for each paragraph, you can also follow their impressions and reactions as they read the chapter, something I really like. I should probably also mention that you get a lot of comments that aren’t relevant to the story in a way I have never seen on other sites, however. That’s the price of getting a lot of comments, I guess. But, there is no guarantee your fic will get noticed quickly, if at all. It could also be a complete flop, due to the navigation issues I have mentioned above.
In conclusion, if you feel like crossposting on another site as well, I’d say to ignore Wattpad’s reputation and go for it, but don’t expect too much. Especially at first. And, if you are intentioned to go through with this, don’t delete your fics if you haven’t gotten any feedback in a couple of days or even weeks. Due to the odd algorithm, it may even take months for them to be noticed – but once they do, they’ll quickly find a wider audience. 😊
I hope this was useful, and good luck with your fics! 😘
Edit: I just saw another thing that’s relevant to the discussion. To give you an idea of how much Wattpad’s algorithm to recommend stories sucks…
Tumblr media
…I keep getting recommended my own stories. And it’s not even the first time. [x]
…We’re on a Tumblr-like level of bad. 😅

asks for fanfic writers: #10-30
 Oh wow *_* First off thank you for the ask??? and your curiosity too lmaoo I know a lot of my answers will probably be boring but oh well, here goes!
how do you do your researches?
Well, I feel like I don’t write super complex AUs, so I rarely go into super in depth research, but when I do I usually just start with a google search or visit writing help blogs. I have several bookmarks on character analyses, strengths, virtues, and ways of showing emotion that really help me write sometimes when I’m struggling. Reading fics that are similar to what I’m going for also helps A TON omg. So yeah, nothing specific, but I do have my go-tos ^^
do you listen to music when writing?
Yes lol all the time. Half of my fics are based on specific songs as is? Like seriously name one and I could give you the song behind it honestly lmfao. So usually when a fic is inspired by a song or genre I tend to listen to it while I write!
favorite place to write
I’d say I write most productively when I’m sitting at a desk or table to be honest, when I’m on break from school I write at my parents’ dining room table because it’s really peaceful and in a closed off section of the house. Otherwise though, I write in bed because I’m lazy af orz
hardest character to write
For K, I’d say Yata (besides all the minor characters, who can be tough too, but I feel like I have a bit of wiggle room for them at least). While I don’t dislike how I write Yata, it’s always a lot harder for me than writing Saruhiko for some reason. Plus there’s lots of authors who I admire that write him SO AMAZINGLY and I’m just…I am but a pleb.
easiest character to write
Saruhiko because I am difficult and emo just like he is -shot- In all honestly though, it’s mostly because exploring his character and thinking about how he’d act in certain situations is a lot easier and more fun for me for some reason, I don’t know ha. But yeah, I’d say writing Saruhiko is a lot more fluid for me!
hardest verse to write
Oh man, definitely Shaking in My Skull for K project pft. It’s my favorite verse really, but sometimes it gives me a lot of issues plot wise. I worry about making it too boring or slow, and sometimes I wonder if I explain things enough, and it’s always a fight between dialogue and actions klsdnfkdsj *cough* But yeah, it’s troublesome but it’s one of my favorite ideas so I must go on lol
easiest verse to write
Nothing is easy for me to write because I suffer lmfao. But errr, maybe There You Are? Mm don’t get me wrong I know I must’ve struggled with it when I was writing it but compared to the stuff I write now, I think I finished it rather quickly, and even wrote a sequel pretty painlessly so ^^
favorite AU to write
I love weird AUs lmaooo, like as much as coffee shops and model aus and fake dating are the best (I could read them all day ffff) I love stuff involving supernatural elements and special abilities or really weird first meetings? Like even if it’s not supernatural force just…really strange, unique scenarios always get me very excited
favorite pairing to write
HOW DARE LOL I have no idea orz Tbh I’ve written saru-mi for so long that it’ll always hold a special place in my heart, and while I’m expanding my fandoms, it’ll definitely hold one of my top spots for a long time ^^ I love my boys ; ;
favorite fandom to write
I really haven’t written for many fandoms so I can’t say either way honestly fffff, I love K, but I also love HQ (especially right now ahh) but it really depends on the mood I’m in. Lately I’ve had pretty bad writer’s block too so I haven’t been writing much for either orz
favorite character to write
Again I’d say Saruhiko for this, because exploring his personality and thought process is so interesting and fun to me, he’s really complex but also a pain in the butt and I love him *_*
least favorite character to write
Probably Mikoto xD I really don’t get why, he’s just so reserved with words and I am a dialogue whore so that’s probably why haha
favorite story you’ve ever written
I don’t think I can pick honestly, I’m very attached to my ideas ha (whether or not I execute them well) but fffff out of my finished stuff I’d say At Your Service or Keep It in the Chat, mostly because they were super fun and silly and those are my favorite types of fics ^^
least favorite story you’ve ever written
Pencils and Paper probably, I just personally don’t think it was my best writing looking back. I wish I could’ve done it more justice, because the request was super cute and amazing, but weh I think it was wasted on me because I was still a newcomer in the fandom :P
favorite scene you’ve ever written
Oooo that’s so hard *sweats* FFF I feel like its from a fic I haven’t posted yet honestly lmao but out of what I have posted, maybe the scene in Shaking in My Skill chapter 5 where the S4 squad mourns Saruhiko, I just really love writing S4 family ughhh I adore them so much, and I got to write my brotp SaruSeri too so it was great!
favorite line you’ve ever written
Damn lmao that’s so many to choose from…hmm this one from my kuro-tsuki fic? It’s the most recent one I remember ha
Kuroo closed the gap between them as if he were the tide pulled by the moon, giving into the gravitational forces of his emotions, of Tsukishima standing so closed off but there, willing despite it all.
story you’re most proud of
Either Shaking in My Skull or one I have not yet finished or posted, it’s a saru-mi fic lmao so hopefully one day it sees the light of day.
best review you ever got
I got a really sweet review on Chasing the Rush a little over a month ago from ckttt_sabi and it honestly made my day. Especially to get a comment so nice on my first fic for the pairing…it honestly made me so happy. They told me they loved my characterizations and how the characters interacted and how they wanted to see more from me, so I was really flattered. It meant a lot
worst review you ever got
I’ve gotten quite a few where people would complain about how my smut fics shouldn’t be misaru they should be saru-mi, and it was just really annoying. Not necessarily negative but meh, its a big letdown to get a comment and that’s all it says -shrugs-
favorite story/poem of another author
If we are talking fanfic, from K one of my favorite fics (tho there are a ton) would have to be Peak (Call Time) by melonsflesh on ao3 @yatatsukki
and for HQ I would have to say…Hidden Gem by realmSpinner omg it’s ongoing but it’s an amazing fic *_*
hardest part of writing
Everything lmao (just kidding), ummm for me, it’s definitely trying to keep the story from being too stiff. As in like…I feel like I tend to just rattle off actions in fics like “oh this happened and then he did this and then he said this” and I always have to try to flesh stuff out and put in details to make it more real and entertaining I think.
Once again, thanks so much for the ask!
