me watching the new fallout series: idk about this ghoul, i think they tried to make him too good looking of a monster, idk if it's working for me

Hi welcome to another instalment of Charlotte's Cooking Corner

Today we're going to be talking about cooking tips I've learned over the years! So without further ado, here we go

If it tastes too strongly of something, mix it into mashed potatoes or rice

If it's not a big enough meal, add mashed potatoes or rice

If you need something cheap and filling, you can make mashed potatoes or rice

If you struggle to cook, it's easy to make mashed potatoes or rice

If you have a ton of sauces and condiments you want to use up, stir them into mashed potatoes or rice

For a pretty good sandwich, just fill it with mashed potatoes or rice

If you're really fancy, you can eat mashed potatoes and rice

So I just started watching House MD and so far every episode feels like this:

Wilson: Hey patient how are things with you

Patient: Well I guess I've been coughing and sneezing a little bit

Wilson: I mean... I guess I could give you some cough syrup and–

House: You absolute mongrol. It's pathetic I even have to work with an utter duence like yourself. The patient clearly suffers from paraoslyconzia tripatronchia neuralmeningitis.

Wilson: House what the hell that doesn't even sound like English anymore–

House: It is a rare disease that only 0 people have been diagnosed with since the dawn of time, but I do believe that this patient is suffering from it

Patient: But how could I have gotten it?

House: Only an idiot would ask something so ridiculously dense. Obviously the disease is contracted if the person has eaten four heads of cabbage and lettuce while riding on a tricycle at an altitude of 4728 meters and reciting the Bible backwards and in ancient sumerian. The only cure is by injecting venom from a live cobra directly into his frontal cortex.

Wilson: House you're mad

House: QUICK! GET THE SNAKE!

[Live cobra is brought into the room]

[One brain surgery later]

Patient: Wow doctor House I feel so much better

House: All in a day's work *snorts lethal amounts of cocaine*

While I love my coffee maker, actually getting it on this table and plugged in was a traumatic experience. In the version of Votv I played when I bought it, there was a bug where the actually power plug spawns under the map which is a slight road block to actually using the thing. I try and be smart about it and use the funni hidden hole near the front door to get under the map and find the plug and then grab the plug and pull it out of under the map back with me! So like the fool I was, I assumed everything was fine now and I started dragging the coffee maker to the main room, expect that I look away for FIVE SECONDS and turn back and find that SOMEHOW the power plug got LODGED INTO A WALL! Not under the map but within the SOLID MATTER OF THE WALL.

I tried to stay calm- If it had just... glitched into the wall then it could surely glitch out, right? RIGHT? So I tried to pull the coffee maker away from the wall to try and force it out- nothing. I tried to ram things into the spot in the wall where it was stuck- nothing. I tried to use to the BROOM to SWEEP IT out of the wall- All that did was make a single corner of the plug poke out to TAUNT ME.

I could not help but think- what had I done to deserve this?? I simply wished to drink coffee but in real life and in the game at the same time! Was that too much to ask?! HAD I HOPED FOR TOO MUCH??? NO. I would not let a mere PLUG best me in such a way! Even if this was some punishment for my hubris then I would merely break their pitiful attempt to stop me! In a last desperate attempt I took the coffee maker into my arms and ran into the first in the dead of night, running further and further away as the coffee maker slowly started lagging behind me as the tension of the cable between it and the plug desperately tried to stop me! And then after running for who knows how long no longer able to even SEE the coffee maker- I let go.

I ran back to base and found nothing, no plug in the wall, no coffee maker- it was like nothing ever even HAPPENED. I searched desperately in and around the base and outside of it- I searched the forest but still found nothing... But then I had a thought- what if me letting go of the coffee maker had given it even momentum to phase through the base itself and come out on the other side and into the river? So I ran to check my hypothesis and... there it was- my coffee maker lying under the bridge plug and all.

I then carefully dragged it back into base by the plug this time and set it on a table and plugged it in! I've been too scared to touch it since.

IDK I keep thinking about that scene from Haven when Nathan, who has a "superpower" where he can't feel anything, realizes he can feel it when Audrey touches him.

But I'm thinking about the Steve version where maybe the reason he can soak up all this abuse is because he doesn't feel it, can't feel it. And that's fine. Who wants to feel pain, really? It just means he can take it longer, bleed and bleed and stay on his feet. He doesn't heal any faster than anyone else would, and sure he has to be careful because he'll be bleeding before he even knows he's hurt, but who cares about the scars when it didn't hurt to get them, right?

But he can't feel it when Nancy touches him either, can't feel the warmth of her skin or how wet she gets or her hands on him. Has to settle for the hitch of her breath when he touches her the right way or her eyes going dark. He's good at getting her off, has always been good at getting the girls he fucks off, because he has to pay such close attention to every flutter and shiver and sound. Because getting them off is the only thing that gets him hard, turns him on. He can feel that, a heated twist growing in his gut, even if he can't feel a hand on his dick.

But then there's Eddie. And he can FEEL Eddie. On his skin. Like a miracle. The overwhelming rush of it. Of something when there was nothing. Like being blind, but he can see this one thing. Like being deaf, but he can hear this one voice. Just a brush of bare fingers feels like he's on fire, like he's coming alive all over. It's almost unbearable how much it feels to feel anything when you're so used to nothing. It's almost unbearable how much he wants it, just a brush of fingers. Just a hand on his hand. Just something. Anything.

BUT THE THING IS. I've also been thinking about Theo in the Haunting of Hill House. And what if Eddie was a touch telepath. And what if Eddie doesn't touch anyone if he can help it because he has enough of his own shit. He doesn't have room for anyone else's. He's seen enough to know there's nobody he wants to know like that. From the inside. He doesn't want to know anyone's ugly secrets. See the things no one is supposed to see. He's all full up on pain, rage, and despair, thanks. So Eddie wears long sleeves and gloves anytime he leaves the house. Eddie doesn't touch anybody. Not if he can help it.

But then, accidentally, he touches Steve. What would it feel like to experience the echo of that touch? That something when there was nothing. To know that was you. Eddie's the only one who can give Steve that, but can he stand it? Could he stand to touch Steve, keep touching him? To know him from the inside?
