there's a stray cat that apparently hangs out around my house at night sometimes (my pa sees them on the security cams, usually crossing in front of the driveway)

and today I finally saw the lil guy. I was taking the dog out, it was already pitch black out, and as we curve around the house I freeze cuz there were two shiny bright eyes staring at me from on top of the fence. I've encountered other animals while taking the dog out before, but this was the first time that a: one had reflective eyes, and b: it wasn't immediately running away. dude was just chilling on the fence. my dog didn't notice (she rarely looks up), even though she's been extra eager to sniff out "intruders" the past few days

couldn't tell if it was a cat or a raccoon at first (even with my headlamp, I could only see a rough silhouette until I got pretty close). brought the dog inside, then went right back out to look at the cat again. cute fella, all black, didn't look like he had a collar. unfortunately he hopped off into the neighbor's yard as soon as I got within fifteen feet, even though I had been closer the first time. really hope the lil guy has somewhere warm he can hangout, it's getting colder and colder at night.

looked surprisingly good for a stray (and a stray who's been around for at least a few months, according to my pa), not too skinny, fur seemed neat and relatively healthy. I wouldn't be surprised if somebody around here sets out food or water for him.
