synopsis: you can't sleep so castiel helps you

It wasn’t supposed to be like this.
It was supposed to go: hunting a monster in the woods and returning to some dingy motel that Dean found at the end of the day. Instead, the chase led you and the rest of the squad so deep into the woods that it was wiser to set up camp than try and trek back to civilization. The camp included a rock outcropping to protect from the weather, a shitty fire, and a lack of comfortable sleeping arrangements. Sam and Dean were used to sleeping on almost anything so they could pass out immediately. You, on the other hand, had insomnia sleeping in a regular bed and knew you were going to struggle to fall asleep with nothing more than the moss covering the ground.
Castiel didn’t sleep, so he was keeping watch. You had your jacket balled up as a pillow under your head, and instead of closing your eyes and trying to encourage rest in your body, you were staring at Cas through thick lashes. He looked up at the sky, a serene expression on his face like he was thinking about what each star meant. The light from the fire flickered across his cheekbones, the bridge of his nose, even his cupid’s bow. Sometimes, you were struck by just how beautiful he was, like some Greek artists, the idea of the perfect man, sculpted to perfection and thrown at your feet for just you to enjoy. You wondered how you ended up so lucky to be blessed with his presence.
“Why do humans enjoy looking at the stars?” Castiel asks you in a soft voice to not rouse Sam and Dean. You should’ve guessed that he would notice that you were awake.
“I think…it’s nice to think about things far away from your own life,” you hum, giving up on your rock bed and sitting up, brushing leaves and other debris out of your hair. Cas looks at you, the blue in his eyes a shifting kaleidoscope from the dancing lights around you. “And the concept of stars is beautiful,” you sighed, curling your legs up and under. Cas tilted his head at that, brows slightly furrowed. It was your favorite expression on him.
“Stars are just clouds of gas and light,” Castiel answers.
“But they’ve traveled thousands of light years to reach us, even if they don’t realize it,” you smile, your eyes tracing the path of various constellations. You can feel Cas’ gaze, but don’t dare look over. Looking into Cas’ eyes is falling headfirst into an abyss you didn’t prepare for.
“I like that,” Castiel exclaims, a hint of a smile on his lips. “That’s a…human way of looking at it.”
“I am human,” you chuckle.
“Yes, you are,” he resumes, staring at the stars. It’s silent again; the only sound is the crackling of the fire and your breaths. Sometimes, the quiet is interrupted by Sam’s snoring, but you don’t mind. Your boys deserve the rest.
“Why aren’t you sleeping?” Castiel inquires.
“It’s hard for me to sleep, especially out here,” you say, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear. Castiel looks troubled by that statement like he is personally responsible for your ability to sleep. “When I was little, sometimes my Mom would put me in the car and drive me around in circles, singing or telling stories until I passed out.” You remember fondly, smiling a little to yourself. “I don’t think the ground is as comfortable as a car seat, though.”
“Would you like me to tell you a story?” Castiel asks. “If you need a pillow…you can use me.” He looks slightly uncomfortable, and the tips of his ears turn red, making you grin. He never fails to be adorable when he wants to be, and you know he’s offering out of the goodness of his heart. Still, the ID part of your brain is brainstorming all the ways he could profess his love for you, something that you stamp down as you shuffle over to him. He leans his back against one of the rock walls, stretching his legs out. He had already removed his trench coat, offering it to you as a blanket. It was large enough to swallow you and smelled precisely like Castiel in a way you wanted to remember for the rest of your life. You took your makeshift pillow and set it on his lap, laying your head there and curling up under his arm, which he hesitantly rested on your shoulder. You knew you had to coax your ever-beating heart to calm down if you were ever going to sleep, but it was hard when you were lying on the lap of an angel you had a crush on. Still, Castiel was a gentleman who didn’t do anything to make you uncomfortable.
“What’s your story?” you ask, voice small as you close your eyes and relax your body.
“Early before humans won the race for my Father’s next creation, there was a pool going on for what Earth’s next great invention would be…”
Castiel’s voice, in its low timbre, started to lull you to sleep as you listened to his story. You liked listening to him talk, and he occasionally added funny anecdotes that would make you smile. You started tuning out of the story, instead focusing on the warmth from his lap, the smell of the open air and him, and especially how his fingers had started to absentmindedly stroke shapes on your arm. Eventually, you were pulled into a deep sleep, lingering in that space where you were only slightly conscious but not awake. That space was the only way you could feel Castiel petting your hair, brushing his fingers down your scalp to your neck and back to your shoulder. Even in your dreams that night, you swear you could feel his weight everywhere.
You slept peacefully, without interruption, the whole night. Until morning, when the sound of voices roused you from your slumber.
“...did you get a girl in your lap?” Dean asked, sounding incredulous.
“She is not in my lap. She is lying on half of my lap,” Castiel answered, ever the stickler for exact estimates. You could hear Dean’s groan and sarcastic retort.
“Can you shut up? I’m trying to sleep?” you mumbled, screwing your eyes shut and pushing your face more profoundly into your pillow-jacket-thing.
“C’mon, Sleeping Beauty, time to go hunting,” Dean called out. You let out a curse word, relaxing as you felt Castiel pat your head reassuringly.
“You are much more Sleeping Beauty than I am,” you responded, finally opening your eyes to the daylight but not making a move to get up. Eventually, you realized you’d have to move, so you begrudgingly sat up, cracking your neck as you did so. “Thanks for the story, Cas,” you said, averting eye contact with the angel to avoid him seeing the light flush on your cheeks. You gave him back his coat, and he kindly removed a twig that got stuck in your sweater.
“Did you sleep alright?” he inquired. You thought back to it and realized that for the first time in years, you slept through the whole night.
“Yeah, I… slept well.”
With that, Castiel smiled and helped you up. You were more alert on a hunt than you had been in a long time, all because a particular angel helped you achieve the best sleep of your life.

remember in 1x12 (faith) when dean has the conversation with the faith healer and he says, "why? why me? out of all the sick people, why save me?" and the healer answers, "well, like i said before, the lord guides me. i looked into your heart and you just... stood out from all the rest." and dean asks, "what did you see in my heart?" and the faith healer answers, "a young man with an important purpose- a job to do. and it isn't finished."
and then remember when in 2x13 (houses of the holy) when sam asks dean, "why can't you even consider the possibility?" and dean says "what, that this is an angel?" and sam says "yes. maybe we're hunting an angel here, and we should stop. maybe this is god's will." and then dean says "okay. all right. you know what? i get it. you've got faith. that's -- hey, that's good for you. i'm sure it makes things easier. i'll tell you who else had faith like that -- mom. she used to tell me when she tucked me in that angels were watching over us. in fact, that was the last thing she ever said to me." and sam says, "you never told me that." and dean responds, "what's to tell? she was wrong. there was nothing protecting her. there's no higher power. there's no god. there's just chaos and violence. and random, unpredictable evil that comes out of nowhere and rips you to shreds. so you want me to believe in this stuff? i'm gonna need to see some hard proof. you got any?"
and then remember in 4x01 (lazarus rising) when dean meets castiel and asks "who are you?" and castiel says, "i'm the one who gripped you tight and raised you from perdition." and then again dean asks, "who are you?" and castiel responds, "castiel." and dean says, "yeah i figured that much, i mean what are you?" and cas says, "i'm an angel of the lord." and dean says, "get the hell out of here. there's no such thing." and cas shows him the fearsome wrath of heaven and later dean says, "look pal i'm not buying what you're selling, so who are you really?" and cas says, "i told you." and dean says, "right. and why would an angel, rescue me from hell?" and cas tells him, "good things do happen, dean." and dean says, "not in my experience." and cas asks him, "what's the matter?" and then tells him, "you don't think you deserve to be saved." and dean asks, "why'd you do it?" and cas tells him "because god commanded it. because we have work for you."
and then remember when in 4x16 (on the head of a pin) when cas is talking to dean in the hospital and dean asks, "is it true? did i start all of this?" and cas has to say, "yes. when we discovered lilith's plan for you... we laid siege to hell, and we fought our way to get to you before you --" and dean cuts in to say "jump-started the apocalypse." and cas' gaze turns skyward as he says, "but we were too late." and dean asks, "why didn't you just leave me there, then?" and cas, with eyes still upward says, "it's not... blame that falls on you, dean. it's fate." and cas turns his gaze downward once more as he says, "and the righteous man who begins it is the only one who can finish it." and then he turns to dean, looking at him for the first time, and says, "you have to stop it." and dean asks, "lucifer? the apocalypse? what does that mean?" and cas looks away from him and says nothing so dean says, "hey. don't you go disappearing on me, you son of a bitch. what does that mean?" and cas is staring resolutely forward as he says, "i don't know." and dean exclaims "bull!" and cas once more says, "i don't." before looking at dean again and saying, "dean, they don't tell me much. i know... how our fate rests with you." and then dean, with tears in his eyes says, "well, then you guys are screwed." and then he says, "i can't do it, cas. it's too big." and then he says, "alastair was right. i'm not all here. i'm not -- i'm not strong enough." and then cas looks back and dean and dean looks away from cas for the first time since the conversation started and says, "well, i guess i'm not the man either of our dads wanted me to be." and cas looks away and dean says "find someone else. it's not me." and the tears dean has been trying so hard to hold back finally fall.
anyway. i just thought all of that was kinda interesting.

Puppy eyes- Castiel
Tumblr media
summary: at Bobby's house when Dean is trying to bribe you into going at and getting food, you not budging until Dean tells Cass to ask.
A/n: feel free to message me for any requests, I'll try my best for any character you wish.
---------------------------------------------
You and the boys, including Cass, were all at Bobby's house, doing research. "Y/n come on please?" Dean asks you again. He's been practically begging you to go and and get him pie.
"Dean no I told you. We need to get this research done." You say for the thousandth time.
"Quit moaning Dean. If you want it so bad go get it yourself." Bobby says as he's pouring another glass of whiskey.
Dean groans something and goes back to reading his book. Suddenly Dean perks up and walks over to Castiel, whispering something in his ear.
"Y/n, will you please go to the store and get us some snacks?" Cass asks me, his eyes alone are so powerful, its like he's got puppy eyes.
Your heart flutters just my making eye contact.
"Yeah sure. Everyone write down what you want." You get up and walk to the kitchen to grab your wallet.
"That's all it took?" You hear Sam ask. "Whatever it takes." Dean says smiling and grabbing a pen and paper.
The paper goes around the room and soon enough you have your list. "Dean do you want homemade pie?" You ask him. His eyes light up. "Yes please." He smiles and you can't help but laugh.
"Cass wanna come with me?" you ask him hopefully.
"Yes." He says. "Ok come on then. We'll be back in a bit." You walk out the door looking over the list.
You climb into your truck and start it. On the way there Cass asks you a question you were not ready to answer.
"Why did you only ask me to come with you?" He asks. You look over at him and his head is tilted, with his signature confused look.
"You're my favorite Cass. That's why." It was true, but you weren't going to tell the angel the other half of it. A human falling for an angel? Ridiculous. He'd never return the feelings.
"I am sensing there is something more you're not telling me. " He says, his voice deepens a little bit.
"And what would that be Cass? I've got nothing to hide." Obviously you were lying.
"Y/n."
"Castiel."
"Tell me."
You sigh, not sure how to come about this.
"I love you Cass. And not just like friend wise, I love love you. More then friends." Your grip on the steering wheel tightens waiting for his reaction.
"I love you y/n." He then disappears. You're not quite sure how to take his reaction.
You pull up into the parking lot of a store. You open your door and step out, facing into the truck, collecting your things in your purse.
You turn around and Cass is standing right there behind you. "My god Cass you scared me." You place your hand on your heart, trying to calm yourself down.
He stares at you for a moment before placing his hand under your jaw and pulling you into a kiss. And mind you, it was a damn good one.
"Where'd you learn that?" you ask, slightly surprised.
"Pizza man." He smiles slightly and disappears again. You laugh and go an with shopping. You arrive home and walk in, still happy from the occurrence.
You set the stuff on the counter and get the stuff out to make Deans pie.
"What's got you so happy?" Sam asks when you hand him the snacks he requested.
"Watch this." You tell him, catching Deans and Bobby's attention. You walk over to Cass who's reading a random book he found.
Grabbing his jaw just as he did to you and pulling him into a kiss. You pull away and smile at him. "I love you." You say still smiling down as him. "I love you." He says back. You press. another quick kiss to his lips and look back at the boys and Bobby.
"Now if you'll excuse me I have a pie to make." And with that you walk off into the kitchen, radiating happiness.

The sky has turned into grey, dark clouds threatening too cover the earth with its darkness, the smell of rain is everywhere as it nourishes the earth, as you stand under the pouring rain, listening too him say, goodbye, letting the rain mix with the tears on your cheeks. Not being able too move a muscle, you just stood there unable to make a single sound, unable to ask him why, why after this long, did he want to break up with you, did he want to throw away the life you built. Weren't you enough for him no more,? Is there someone else? Why Now?
The way he said goodbye wasn't with a voice filled with anger, no, his emerald green eyes was sad, his voice almost breaking when he said "I need too let you go sweetheart" and his lips found yours instinctively, it was a soft, kiss, mixed with the taste of him, salt and rain. You didn't want him too leave, you wanted to grab ahold of him, and beg him too stay, but before you could, he got in that Chevy Impala, the engine roared and the tires screeched, as he drove off into the darkness, not a single star in the sky, its almost as if the magic of the moonlight left with him.
Tumblr media
Its been a little over three months since he left you standing in the rain, like some dumb country song, but you somehow found a way too move through your everyday life, you were a hunter before you met Dean, and you still are, well in all honesty saving people is the only thing that got you through the days.
It isn't really a job you tell everyone about, oh heck no!, its more a work you keep too yourself, letting your family believe, your just a traveling failure, well you always did kind of feel like you lost your way over the years, but these days your numb. Your best friend Sam doesn't even talk too you anymore, you don't really have a lot of folks who you could call, and say "hey, ya know I'm not really doing well, I need a pick me up or a damn hug" no you always kept too yourself, not trusting anyone, but the day you met Dean and Sam on a hunt it changed.! Sam quickly became your best friend and well Dean soon became the only man you'll ever love, even though he had his issues. And then there was Castiel the angel, he has always felt like a beacon of hope, making you laugh with his "I don't understand that reference" sayings. But the day Dean walked out they all left, leaving you completely alone in this damn scary world. It's not the monsters that scares you, no that you get, but it's the people. Every single person you have met in your life has a hidden agenda, why can't they just be good people.
Sitting at the diner in the small town, were you were investigating strange disappearances, ordering a black coffee, the display with the different pies catching your eye. Your mind wanders off to Dean's birthday... You prepared all his favorite foods, burgers, bacon, fries, the greaser the better, and then you started with the making of his favorite pies. But somewhere along the way you forgot about the pie's in the oven, letting them burn to a crisp, after you rushed in, trying to save what's left of the charred goods, seeing it was disaster, you wouldn't be able to save it, you burst into tears, cussing yourself for messing up what's supposed to be the perfect day, you felt his strong arms pulling you towards his chest, staining his shirt with the wetness of your cheeks. He's breathe hot as he kissed you, in a loving, comforting way, reassuring you everything will be okay, it's just pie's not the end off the world.
He always did know how too comfort you, how too chase the darkness away, he was your lighthouse, so to say, showing you the way, back too the light. And now, now there's no more light too go home. No more home, just nothing.
Taking a sip of the now cold bitter coffee, that kind of taste like, old shoes, not that you'll know how that would taste like, but betting its something like this. Placing the cup down, sliding the dollar's underneath the half full cup on the diner table, you get up, throwing your ball cap on, hair hanging loose on your shoulders, taking your leather jacket and phone, you start too head out of the small town diner.  Walking towards your Harley Davidson, you've always liked the way, that bunch of metal, felt roaring as you sat on that leather seat, the wind rushing through your hair, the way those gas fumes, flowed through your veins, not even to talk about the adrenaline that went with it, oh damn, you felt about your Harley like Dean felt about his impala. Seeing a giant creep checking out your bike, leaning on it, irritation in your voice "excuse, what are you doing?"
His voice rough and unpleasant "why do you care, little missy"
Walking closer, your eyes darker than usual "that's my bike"
The bald man, with his long beard, hiding his tatted neck, started to laugh "No way such a small little thing can handle that sort of horse power"
"I'm only going to ask you nicely one more time, get off my damn bike!"
Crossing his arms in front of him, "Or what? You gonna call the little cops"
"No! I'm going to make you get off my bike"
"I'd like to see you try missy"
She really wasn't in the mood for this. So she tried to shove him off, but he was on the larger side and didn't really move a single damn inch. It just made him irritated "hey come here missy" he said as he grabbed a hold of your arm, you smiled, that made him look at you all confused, but he soon realized, he should not have messed with you, as you took his fingers, and started bending them backwards, bringing the big guy down to your size. With your free hand, you punched the sucker in the face. Got up on your bike, and drove down the road too the nearest bar you could find, for information and while you where there you might as well get something to drink.
The Black Chevy Impala roared as it parked in front of the diner, Dean and Sam got out, a big guy, with a black eye, just got off the ground as they started making their way towards the door, Dean looked at the guy a smirk on his face "What happened to you buddy?"
The man mumbled "crazy biker chick"
Dean just laughed, as he figured this chick was probably part of his gang, as the beaten up guy had a biker jacket with their logo on. He still smiled but he felt stabbing pains in his heart. His sweetheart was a 'biker chick' a swell, she could handle that roaring horsepower better than most men, and man!, was she tough, so fierce and fiery, so passionate and yet so gentle, vulnerable at times, so fragile, she cared more than most, people, and beautiful, so freaking beautiful, her smile could light up a room, he fell hard for her the first time he saw her, and it just grew from there he loved her , he still loved her, but he just had too walk away, for her own safety, everyone close too him get hurt or dies. And especially with everything going on, he couldn't risk it, if someone found out, that she wasn't just another hunter, no she was the love of his life, he'd never forgive himself if something would happen too her. Sam calling his name for the fourth time pulled him out of his deep thoughts, "Hey man, you with me?"
"Yeah, yeah, just thinking I need a drink not coffee"
Sam gave him a sympathetic smile, knowing his brother probably thought of her again, he just nods and says "okay sure let's go"
The only information she got was that, some of the missing folks were last seen close too a pig farm , on the outskirts of this town.
And now, now she just sat here swallowing the vodka, it was easier than too think that Dean aren't coming back, hating how she felt , how alone and miserable, how heartbroken, she really thought that she was stronger than this, but no, she's weak and pathetic, sobbing about a man, a damn man who left her in the pouring rain. What the hell was wrong with her, she never was the kind, to be good little wife material, who would cook for her husband and bake brownies for her children's school, but the sad truth was she wanted too be all that with Dean, she would've gave up hunting, too be his wife and the mother of his children. But clearly he didn't feel the same. Thumbing away a stray tear, she gestures to the bartender , for another. The music was loud and the alcohol made her slightly lightheaded, she knew she needed some air, sliding off the barstool, walking towards the exit, fumbling in her pockets for a packet of cigarettes, she only smokes when she drinks. Some guy, lit her cigarette, she just nods, thanking him with a smile as she stood in the crisp evening air, the air mixed with nicotine hit her lungs, letting a little cough escapes her lips. As she blows out the smoke, she heard that damn Chevy pull in, she couldn't miss it , Dean had a certain way if driving and it was him for sure. She just stood there, frozen in the darkness. "What the hell is he doing here" whispering underneath her breath. Hoping that he doesn't see her, knowing that she will burst out in tears the moment she tried to speak too him.
Tumblr media
He wales past a couple of bikes, that's when he saw it, her bike, hard too miss it, on the rear bumper the lyrics of her favorite Bon Jovi song. He elbows his brother "Sam, she's here"
Sam looked at him shocked, "What? Are you sure"
Running his hand over his face "Of course I'm damn sure" clearing his throat "I can't see her, man, I just can't, I've missed her so much, it was hard enough too walk away from her that night, I won't be able to do it again"
Sam places his hand on his big brother shoulder "Don't you think, this whole protection thing your trying is dumb"
Dean's jaw clenched, "No, Everybody around me dies, and there's nothing I can do about it, I have to let her go"
Sam just shook his head, his known his brother felt like this for a while now, but it's gotten worse, his unsure why, but he will try and get through too him, Dean's only been happy, whenever he was with her. "Okay let's go"
Tumblr media
Dean and Sam made their way towards the car, they're about to get in when they heard a spine chilling scream , Dean recognized her voice. He searches in the darkness, when he catches a glimpse of four men, throwing her in a black van. He didn't even realized it but he started running towards the van, as the last of them jumped in, he saw a glimpse of her, the last thing he heard, was her screaming his name and a gun shot, which brought him to a stop as he fell to the ground, chanting her name over and over, until his eyes fell closed.
Sam fired his gun towards the van, but couldn't get decent shots from that angle. He fell to his knees next to his brother, glancing at the bullet wound in his chest, the blood gushing out, he applied pressure on the wound, he could feel the life draining from his brother as he begged Castiel to come. Sam's eyes damp with tears, his heart pounding in his throat, a silent scream escaping his lip "Cas, please man, I need you Dean need's you"
You could hear the flutter of wings, when the celestial being landed, his face struck with concern "What happened?"
Sam glanced at the man in the trench coat, holding his brother in arms, "please, just help him Cas"
The angel approached his best friend, there was nothing quite as bad, as seeing him, in pain, placing his hand on Dean's shoulder and Sam's, the three men found themselves in a motel, Dean was still unconscious but breathing, Sam glanced at the angel, mouthing a "thank you"
Traces of the tears still evident on her cheeks as she recalled Dean getting shot, he was there, running towards her, he stilled cared. The four men watched her like a hawk, she cradled her legs in the corner, as if she's a animal trying too hide herself from the prey.
The van came to a stop, she knew something had to be done, so she took the knife she hid in her boots, covered it in her hand, she knew taking all four men was asking to much, so she'll have to isolate them. Take them one by one. The men double, maybe triple her size, but she aren't going down this way, without a fight.
As the two men , opened the door, she saw what looked like a barn, there where cages, with other people inside, seeing she's not the only one that needed saving, she slid the knife back in her boot. She needed more information than this, so she went with it. The man held her by her hair, threw her into a cage which had two other girls probably about round about 16 and 18, and much older man, in his late 60's maybe. Hitting the the floor, scraping her palms.
The older man helped her up, "you okay?"
"Yeah thanks never been better" the sarcasm rolled over her pressed lips.
A big guy, came standing against the cage, with a stupid smug on his round face. "When Ricky there told me about this little woman, who punched him, just for leaning against her bike, I knew I had too throw you in the ring"
She got to a standing position, striding closer, too this gigantic man, "What are you? A human trafficker , organ? What"
He laughed "None of the above, just a business man," he started walking away.
"What is he talking about?" Her eyes intensified "Does anyone know why we are here?"
She heard a man's voice coming from another cage, he was beaten pretty bad, "We are here too fight against each other, like the movie Condemned, apparently it happens in really life" he let out a defeated laugh. The whole barn filled with chatter, people gasping for air, as the initial shock took over. Those who haven't seen the movie, quickly got enlighten by those who have, the rich of the rich, places bets on the person, who they think will survive and it gets streamed on the dark web for everyone to watch.
There's a clock with a timer and the one who have killed all the other 'players' in that amount of time, gets to live another round. Some just cried, the others just quietly, sat in the corners of their cages, holding on too their knees, as if that's going to help, everywhere in that barn there's cages filled with silence and then those with chatter.
Then in the cage she's in, the two young teenage girls just hold on too each other, clinging for dear Life. The grey old guy, just kept mumbling too himself, "I can't kill these people" over and over.
Probably not the most polite thing in this situation but damn, it worked on her nerves, she's trying think of a solution, a plan something to save these people. But she was all out of ideas, to be honest, except maybe one, her back was against the cage, she silently started to talk to Cas, asking him to come and find her, but nothing, he didn't hear or he didn't want too, either way it was up too her.
Glancing down at the ground, then her leather boots she remembered the knife, she could use that too unlock the cage door, then start freeing the others, she took the last bit of hope in her hand, starting to put the blade in, turning and wiggling it, until she heard the click sound, she was overjoyed, she slowly opened the screeching steel door, every noise sounded as loud as thunder.
She could see the different keys, close to the barn entrance, almost walking on the balls of her feet, so that she didn't make a single sound, reaching for the keys, her fingertips barely touching it, she jumped into the air, grabbing ahold if it, she started making her way towards the first cage. Searching for the key that fits, the barn doors flung open, she recognized the guy, Ricky from earlier, and some other dude, who made her skin crawl , "Hey how'd you get out?" Ricky shouted.
"What you can see me?" She joked, something she always did, when she was very nervous.
The other guy ran to her, but she kicked him before he even could touch her, she still had the knife in hand, this big fella didn't say, much, he charged towards her, when that silver blade touched his arm, it made him squirm, "Oh that's just freaking lovely, what are you, a vamp? A wolfie?" She sneered
The moment he showed his, teeth she knew it was a werewolf, the other folks in the cages screamed, as they never saw such a creature.
"So this games rigged? Normal human being and creatures from the night, joining the game"
Surprised the wolf looked at her , a growl "your a hunter?"
Mischievous smile on her lips "why would you say that?" The wolf growled once again, as he charged towards your position, clawing your back, as he flung you against a cage, everything is swimming before her eyes, all you could make out was that she was flung against the beaten up man, he had the bluest eyes, which kind of reminded her about Castiel's eyes.
The wolf like creature came closer, looking for your blood, that's when the man stood up, black coat drenched in blood, unsure if it was his own, or some of the creature's his killed, the last time, his blue orbs, illuminated, bloodshot veins stretched like a roadmap in his eyes , his fangs came out revealing that his a vampire.
Laying there, you where left at the mercy of these two, but you were surprised when the vamp, took ahold of the wolf, smashing his head against the bars, he had this deep old time southern voice "leave her alone"
The man, glared at her and the vamp, picking her up, letting her sway like a sack of potatoes in the air. Ricky quickly came to open the cage, throwing her in by the vampire, "You can have her".
Knowing the open wounds made the situation worse, as it was like a magnet for the vamp, she tried too get up, too defend herself but, in that moment she was too weak.
The vamp, came closer towards her, his features returned to those of a man, his voice kind "I'm not going to hurt you, I'm Benny"
Shocked "Benny, like in Benny Lafitte? Dean's friend?"
He smiled, "I thought I recognized you, saw you once on his lock screen, asked him about this new women in his life, he told me you are the love of his life"
Smirking, "Yeah that's awhile ago I guess"
Confusion written all over his face, but before he could ask, the barn filled with gas, hearing Benny say "its to knock us out so they can take us to the next location" before you could find out more, the knock out gas started taking its toll.
His eyes flutter open, Sam and Cas both sharing the same concerned facial expressions, his voice croaky "what did something happen? Is.." struggling to form the words "is she gone?"
Sam spoke quickly, trying to reassure his big brother "No! We don't know, Cas can't pick up her location"
 Cas spoke "Wherever she's at, must be warded off with sigils"
Dean groaned when he sat up, "we have to save her, I can't loose her"
The three of them turned their heads when they heard the familiar phrase from Crowley "Hello Boys"
Dean immediately got up, pointing a finger at him, "Do you have something to do with her disappearance, tell me now!"
 Crowley gave him a sympathetic look, that lasted about an second "Squirrel I had nothing to do with her, but I know where you can find her"
Dean could not control the anger that intensified in his chest, he smashed Crowley against the nearest wall, his arm pressing against his throat his forest green eyes pierced the black ones, his voice low, and stern "Crowley if your messing with me, I will kill you, I swear I'll kill"
 With the flick of Crowley's fingers Dean flew across the room, he shouts, this whole situation clearly upsetting him as well. "She saved my damn life, why would I want something to happen to her, she cared enough to save me, ME!!!" Crowley shouted.
Sam hurried to help Dean up, recalling the saving Crowley is talking about, he was stuck in a devils trap, bounded with chains around his hands and neck, as some other hunter took out all his anger on Crowley, stabbing him over and over, when she came in, tried talking the man down, but he didn't see any reason as he thought Crowley was to blame for the death of his family, but he wasn't, he had nothing to do with it. As she was talking to this guy, she slowly started  to scratch the round red chalked circle on the floor with the heel of her boots, so that Crowley can break free, the line was finally broken, by clicking his fingers the chains shook loose and fell into a thousand pieces, the other hunter saw what she did, ran towards her, pushed the blade right through her upper torso. That's when Dean and Sam ran into, her for the first time, they where hunting the hunter who they thought was possessed but turns out he had such an amount of rage inside him, that whom ever got in his way, he'd kill.
Dean's harsh voice pulled Sam out of his thoughts, "Where is she Crowley"
"Well not only her , but other people as well, even Werewolves and vampires, you named it they have it, I know the location, but we have to go now," he clears his throat, "there's only one snag, neither can I nor Cass get in their, the damn sigils on the barns wall, wont let us through"
Dean's already halfway across the room, towards the door, "what are we waiting for"
In a matter of seconds the four of them stood In front of the barn on the pig farm, Sam is busy discussing a plan of action but Dean, already pushed the barn doors open, "what the hell Dean" the loudness in Sam's voice makes Dean face him, but he just shakes him off, not answering, too determined to safe her, he walks in, gun in hand, ready for anything, everywhere you look, all the cage doors stands open, not a single trace of anyone, something glistening on the floor catches his eye, its a rose gold chain with a heart shaped locket, he didn't need to turn it around, to see the engraved 'love you always D.W' to know its hers, he opens it anyways, glaring at the picture, both off them laughing, the way they looked at each other, you could feel the electricity, the love they shared, he folds it closed in his fisted hand, his eyes damp with emotion. He runs outside, punches Crowley straight in the face. Cas takes ahold of Dean's arm's demanding him to stop. The defeated look on his face is too much too bare for the three men looking at Dean, disappointed and unsure where to look next they start looking around the farm for clues, for something that can give him a glimpse of hope.
The strong sunrays, burning her eyes, as she opens them, the pain from last night's fight, let's her realize what's happening, she tries too move, but can't, searching for the reason, she sees the rope wrapped around her arms, and waist, too a tree, she tries too wiggle, to get out off the tight grip, that's when she hears a ticking of a clock tick-tock, tick-tock, it sounded incredibly loud, looking up to where the sounds came from, seeing giant speakers blaring the sound of a clock. A rough unpleasant voice spoke, game rules: "Everything goes, you can use any weapon you can find, to kill your opponent, and also remember the last one standing gets too live" he lets out a snotty laugh. "Oh yes, and contestants, we made the first kill very easy, if you can find contestant five, she's tied up and ready to kill, oh and give us a show" he laughs harder, then all of the sudden its dead silence, figuring she's contestant no: five, she'd better think of something to get out if this situation. Her words barely a whisper, "I don't even know why I try, but Cas are you there, Crowley, can someone hear me? Please I need someone"
The rustling of the leaves, let's her know there's someone, maybe it's Cas or Crowley, maybe its someone's who wants to take her as their first kill.
The large man with his black coat walks towards her.
He's voice hushed, "let me get you outta here"
"Oh darn, I'm so thankful its you Benny"
As he unties her, they hear rustling in the bushes, he hands her a knife, and they stand ready for action, back against back, three people came closer, it's the three she shared the cage with, she and Benny suggested they walk behind them, so that the two of them can protect them.
The further they walk the more danger they seem too run into, Benny takes the most werewolves, windigos and Leviathan's , as for you, you take most of the other human beings, who wants to attack the two teenage girls and old man.
You are bruised, beaten and torn up, unsure if your body is covered in your own blood or those of the enemies, you keep on going, grateful, that you had these people to protect, because if you had to be honest, if it weren't for them, you wouldn't fight so hard to survive, every now and then you get flashbacks of how Dean got shot, knowing it was fatal, you don't want to allow yourself to think that he could be really gone, there's this glimmer of hope that he might still be alive, maybe Sam helped him, maybe Cas or Crowley.
 Resting against a tree to catch your breath, you see the blood gushing down your arm, one of the men came at you with a damn axe, and in the fight he threw the axe towards you, pinning you against a tree, it must've been the adrenaline but you wiggled that axe, out of you arm, screaming while throwing it back at him, which ended up between his eyes.  You fell too your knees, the emotion welling up behind your eyes, you get caught off guard when someone or something picks you up in the air. A little weak, and confused all you can see is that your draped over the large man, with multiple tattoos shoulder, it didn't take long, too lose consciousness.
Dean could not believe what he just heard, both Cas and Crowley told him, that they heard you call out too them, they knew where you were, you where caught in Purgatory, damn Purgatory. What the hell is going on. It felt like someone took his very last breath. His been too Purgatory, It's no joke for sure, it changed him, the only person who made him whole was her, his sweetheart and now, now she's going through all of that.
Crowley spoke with his people, which revealed, that the one and only Dick Roman sits behind it all, with a connection in the real world, who takes normal people, of all ages just to make money, and feed his obsession of killing people.
His quiet, as he drives too the place where the portal opens to Purgatory, thinking about all the things there, so many monsters, dangers around every corner. He just hopes, his going to make it in time, she just has too be okay, has to be alive, squinting his eyes as he recalls what he had too do, too survive.
Tumblr media
"Sweetheart you awake?" Rolling over too the right side of the bed, emerald green eyes looking back at you, "Baby?"
"Why do you look so surprised sweetheart"
"Uhmmm I'm not really sure, it feels so right yet so wrong" she smiled
Without a single word, Dean cups your face, places his lips on yours, its sweet, it's sensual, yet filled with passion. Breaking the kiss, you look at him, studying his face, the speck of hazel around the black pupil, the way, his freckles runs across his nose, almost like the milky way, the corners of his mouth, that is slightly curled in a smile, his plumps lips, that's slightly swollen from the kiss, the little stubble on his chin and cheeks, the way his jawline just kind of frames his picture perfect face, the way his deep smoky voice fills the air, and your body with a exhilarating energy, "Why are you looking at me like that?" He asked.
Your voice barely audible and brittle, "I just love you, I love you more than life itself"
 His voice calm, but certain "Marry Me"
Your jaw dropped, "What?"
He started to kiss your lips softly, his breathe hot as he said "Yes babe, I want you to be my wife?"
Searching his eyes your lips crept upwards into a smile, your voice sounded more brittle than you intended "Yes, yes Dean Winchester, I'll marry you"
The joy dancing in his green eyes, made you happy, even though a few stray tears rolled over your cheeks.
Feeling like your walking on cloud nine, then all of the sudden, you get this sharp pain in you ribs, unwillingly your eyes flutter open, gasping for air "what the hell?"
Looking around you, seeing your in some kind of room, chains around your wrists, hanging from what looks like the ceiling, clothing blood-soaked. Hair sticking to your face, sweat mixed with blood. Your feet barely touching the floor, it feels as if your arms is getting pulled out of their sockets if you move to much, your throat dry, realizing you must've been passed out, it wasn't really a dream, more like a memory, Dean did ask you too marry him, and then outta nowhere, two days later, you where left standing in the rain, the tears streaming down your face, unsure if it's about the way Dean left things, or the situation your currently thrown in.
Sighing, whispering to no one really "I'm tired, I'm so tired, I can't anymore and I don't want to anymore" head hanging down, looking at the floor, closing your eyes, wishing all this could be over, you heard heavy footsteps, laughter filling the dark air.
His voice smooth "All this turned out better than I could've imagined"
Confused you glare at him "okay, fine you win, get it over with"
Walking closer towards you, big smug on his face, "see, I can't deal with you yet, I know who you are" getting angrier now "I'll finally get my revenge, Dean will watch you die, he wanted to send me here, now I will take something precious from him"
Shocked to hear that he thinks Dean is still alive , she plays along maybe, it's her way out, Scoffing "Well sorry to hear you think he'd be coming to look for me, because we aren't together no more"
He laughs, "oh no, he is already here, searching for you, my men left him a little bread trail, as to where you are"
Furious now, you shake, trying to get loose, shouting "You leave Dean alone, kill me , but let him go please"
Clapping his hands together, "Ah, young love" he laughs harder "I am going to kill you, but Dean needs to watch, then I'll kill Sam, Cas and even Crowley, all while Dean has to watch"
Eyes wide, barely audible "They're all here"
His smug smile never leaving his face "oh yes, all of them, clearly they care, its so pathetic, you humans, you know that?"
Squinting her eyes, trying too fight the tears threatening to spill over, you care about all of them, more than you care to admit.  He just simply walks out of sight. The silence is deafening, the only thing she can hear is her heart racing, Dean's alive, he came looking for her. Somewhere between the excitement of hearing Dean's alive and the spine chilling silence, she lost consciousness.
 They hardly had too beat the crap out of some of the men, on their road to this half torn down, factory like building, all of them agreed, it felt like a trap, but Dean didn't give a damn, he needed to find her, save her and bring her home, he has been cursing himself internally, the whole damn way, if only he didn't freak out, but the moment he realized he wanted to marry her, be her husband, wishing he never said that, went on that hunt, saw how that ghost threw her against the wall, the pain she must've felt, he couldn't bear the thought of her getting hurt or worst getting killed, just because that's what he did, so saying goodbye, felt like the best thing to do, hoping she'll give up hunting, but he should've known better. He should have stayed by her side, he should have discussed his fears, the way he felt, but instead he went and broke her heart.
The four of them split up, there's to many halls, and doors too search, mostly the halls are filled with darkness, its filthy and disgusting, dried splattered blood on the walls, scattered human bones on the cement floors. There's scratching sounds coming from one of the rooms, the gun in Dean's hand is loaded, opening the door, unsure of what he's going to find, he's skin crawling as a bunch of rats, runs past him, some over his feet, slapping against his legs, whispering underneath his breath, "damn filth". He's heart, beating out of his chest, the more he walks in the darkness the more he can feel the darkness entering his mind, his heart, every grain of his very being.
He stopped in his tracks, the moment he saw her, hanging by chain's, her whole body is slumped over, hair covering her face, he can't make out if she's still breathing, for what felt like an eternity, he froze, almost too afraid to take a closer look. Striding closer till he's right in front of her, he gently takes her face in his hands, concern painted on his face, a burning pain in his chest, her beautiful face is bruised, and bloodied, her breathing faint, but still there, his voice hushed "Sweetheart, can you hear me"
Watching her open her eyes, was a beautiful site, she looked tired, a smile across her busted lips, "Dean,"
"Yes sweetheart I'm here, I'm sorry, I love you" he declared.
Sobbing now, "I... I thought I lost you forever"
"Baby, you'll always have me, always you hear me" he pleaded
Before she could answer a couple of men appeared out of the shadows. There were maybe six or seven, Dean got up, in a fighting stance ready to beat the crap out of them, he started punching and kicking his way, through the men, it wasn't until the last one hit the ground that he'd stop, blood splatters across his face, glancing over at her, he hears the familiar voice of Dick Roman "crashing the party are we?"
Tumblr media
"Yeah well I didn't receive an invite so thought I'll invite myself" Dean smirked. He drew his gun, knowing it won't really help, but it's more a habit, "What do you want?" He questioned
Crude laughter fills the air, "I want you to pay Dean" he snapped his fingers, more men came running towards Dean, he tried his best, but he was one against, all of them, they over powered him, one clocked him against the head, in his unconscious state, they were tying him to a chair with chains, facing you.
It didn't take long before they were beating you, biting your lower lip, not wanting to give them the pleasure of seeing you in so much pain, you could taste the blood on the tip on your lip.
Dick Roman came walking towards you, dagger in hand, hoping he couldn't see the pain, and fear in your eyes, your eyes pierced his, he didn't say a single word, he pushed that dagger, through the skin and bone, wedging it between your ribs. Your scream filling the dark room.
Dean's eyes flung open, he's jaw clenched, he's voice angered and defeated "NO BABE" he shouted.
"Ah poor Dean Winchester" he laughed
Dean's green eyes, now almost black, "I'm going to kill, I promise you that"
Laughter filled the air, once again, it didn't last long though, surprised he glanced at them, Sam, Cas, Crowley and Benny, all four off them stood their bloodied and beaten, but ready to fight. All four of them started fighting and killing their way towards Dean and you, Crowley was the first one to stand next too Dean, his British voice almost inaudible "This belongs to you" he's face lit up with a sly smile.
Dean looked at him all confused, "I thought you threw this in the sea somewhere"
Crowley just shrugs his shoulders. The moment he placed that blade in Dean's hands he could feel the mark, turning a fiery red, the power pulsing through his veins, it didn't take long for the effects to take control of him, breaking loose out of the chain's, he faces Dick Roman, a smirk on his lips, he's features darkens. Taking that blade right too his chest, he kept going over and over, not stopping for a second, driving the blade further and deeper into his now lifeless body.
Sam tried to make him stop, even Cas, Benny and Crowley, but it didn't work.
Your voice brittle, revealing the pain, "Dean stop, please Baby"
Immediately stopping, he threw the blade down, running towards you, his eyes pleading, his voice soft "Sweetheart I'm so sorry" cupping your face, kissing your lips, holding you close to him, as Cas and Sam unlocks the chains, your body went limb, all you could feel is his hands holding you upright. Staring into his emerald green eyes, mouthing "I love you" the last thing you catches a glimpse off, was the light in his eyes as he replied "I love you too, Sweetheart, come back to me, come home please"
 It's been almost three years since that dreadful day, smiling now, if it weren't for Dean begging Cas to save you, you wouldn't be here baking your husband his birthday pie, getting ready for the barbeque, with your good friends Sam, Cas, Benny and yes even dear old Crowley.
Did you and the Winchester Brothers stop hunting, no, of course not, but the two of you have each other and that's all you'll ever need, whenever your lost, knowing Dean's your lighthouse showing you the way home, with those beautiful green eyes.

"Dean?"
And Dean doesn't know what to make of the tone in the voice calling out for him.
"In the kitchen, Cas." He calls back, keeping an eye on the tomato sauce he was in the middle of making.
He hears Castiel entering the room, "you okay?" He asks, without turning around.
"I turned on my phone." And that something is still there, in his tone, something quiet and fragile, he sounds a bit choked up.
"Okay." Dean replies, slowly, wondering where this is going. "Something happened to it? We can get you a new one."
"You texted me."
Dean decides the tomato sauce can burn for all he cares, his grip on the wooden spoon he was using to stir it tightens.
"He doesn't quite know what he is feeling, it's not shame, he thinks, he just had forgotten about those texts. It feels a bit silly now.
He clears his throat, still not turning around, "I guess I did, yeah."
is this you?
The text says.
Then a picture of a small bird, a colorful starling, staring right at the camera. Head slightly tilted to the left.
"That guy over there landed on my hood, and it was staring at me, in that unnerving way," like it was trying to tell him something, Dean was desperate, like it knew him, Dean felt so lost," it wouldn't leave, guess it was tired or something." He shrugs. "It's pretty fucking stupid, I know." The bird ended up leaving, joining the flock waiting for him up in the sky, leaving Dean behind, staring at him until his eyes couldn't find him anymore among the other birds heading south.
There is another text, from that very same day, sent just a couple hours later.
i miss you.
He never texted Cas again, after that, didn't make any sense, it took him a bit longer to stop praying to him. Even if he knew his prayers could never reach him where he was, that darkness would have never allowed the tiniest spark of light to reach its twisted insides.
Strong arms wrap themselves around his waist, and he can feel Castiel's forehead pressed against his shoulderblade. It's tentative, the way he moves, like he thinks Dean will tell him to step back, he is testing the unknown waters they are navigating together now.
"Dean."
"It's fine Cas, really."
He gets some sauce in the spoon, lifting it over his shoulder, "here, try this." And Castiel does, humming thoughtfully, allowing Dean to distract him from the matter in hands.
"It's really good." He says, resuming his previous position, leaving Dean to quietly turn off the stove and put a lid over the sauce.
Dean turns around, putting his own arms around Cas, who rests his head on his shoulder.
"I would have found a way to see you once again if I had been able, I hope you know that."
Dean nods before realizing Castiel can't actually see them, he has to talk, through this heavy lump in his throat, "I know." He hushes.
Dean decides then that, as impractical as it might could be, he would very much like to stay right here, holding Cas close. He rests his cheek on the top of his head and he has never been hugged like this, for so long, so tenderly. Cas hasn't either, Dean doesn't need to ask to know, and that makes him hold on even more tightly.
Dean can't help but smile dopily at the way Cas sways them side to side, from time to time, as they stand there, intertwined, in the middle of the kitchen.
"Dean?" His tone is lighter now, like he can breathe again.
"Yeah?"
"Did it really remind you of me because of its unnerving staring?" There is no heat or offense behind his words so Dean laughs lightly.
"No, of course not, maybe just a little bit."
It was the color of its feathers, actually, because he pictured Castiel's wings when he saw them.
He doesn't say it out loud.
He can't, there are many things he can't say yet, he isn't ready yet. But Castiel understands, Castiel would wait a thousand years for him if it was necessary.
Not only in that bird did he see Cas. He saw him in the most beautiful sunsets, in the brightest stars.
He doesn't say it out loud.
He moves back a little instead, making Castiel move with him, but now allowing him to move back any further, keeping them tangles in this neverending embrace, he leans in, questioningly, Castiel crosses the distance that is left between them, kissing him.

Tumblr media
The Impala drove down a dark road, no other cars for miles. They had just got a case two states over. They had just finished a hunt so they didn't have any time to rest. Dean is in the driver's seat, Sam in the passenger, Y/N in the back passed out. She wasn't new to the game, but it always wore her out like a newbie.
Dean went through all the channels on the radio, either they were static or they were playing some new top 40 song. He wasn't a fan of this new generation's music. He was getting annoyed, he settled on silence.
"All this new technology and they can't get better signal out here" Dean grumbled, mostly to himself.
"People don't listen to the radio anymore, Dean" Sam mumbled, fighting his sleep. He was exhausted, he got four hours of sleep in the past two days. He was always on edge, afraid something would happen when he slept.
"Shh, Y/N's sleeping"
"Must be nice" Dean said looking up at the rearview mirror. "Jesus!" He said startled.
Sam jumped, the tired leaving his body. His hand immediately reaching for his handgun, snapping his back to look in the back seat.
"Cas, you have to stop popping up out of nowhere" Dean sighed
"Sorry, I figured this was better than showing up in the middle of the road."
"I wanted to come with you guys on this hunt, I had nothing better to do" Castiel explained.
"Why didn't you just call?" Sam asked
"I uh- I lost my cellphone" He replied, he had no idea where it was. Probably some country in Europe, he's been to too many places this week.
"Whatever just give us a warning next time" Dean said
-
The four of them drove in silence for another thirty minutes. Y/N is still sound asleep. As much as Dean loved to drive, looking at a bunch of nothing is boring. He was trying to think of a game to keep him occupied, maybe like 'count how many trees you see' he probably couldn't count that high.
Checking the mirror once more, he saw a faint smile on Y/N's sleeping face. She was always a peaceful sleeper, he wondered how after all the things they had seen. How could anyone sleep after that? He was happy she could sleep, he never wanted her to know the feeling of running off adrenaline and bad coffee.
He got an idea, not his best work but he had to deal with what he had.
"Hey Cas" The angel looked up, he didn't know road trips were this boring.
"Yeah?" He answered
"Why don't you hop into Y/N's dream, see why she's got that smile on her face"
"Dean-" Sam started
"C'mon it's harmless Sammy. Just a little bit of fun" Dean said before his brother could tell him how that it was an invasion of privacy blah blah.
"I don't think that's a good Idea, Dean" Castiel didn't understand how this would be "fun" But he knew humans found entertainment in weird ways.
"Don't be a buzzkill. Just use your little angel powers and see what she's doing."
"She's probably running through a field of flowers or something"
"Fine. I'll do it, but don't ask me to do anything weird for at least a week"
"Deal, now go" Dean said, he could feel his brother's disappointed glare as Cass disappeared.
"What?" he asked
"Boundaries Dean, boundaries." Sam sighed
"Oh please it's not like Cas doesn't show up in our dreams three times a week"
Silence.
"No, he doesn't" Sam said confused
"Whatever, you know what I mean" Dean nervously squeezed the steering wheel. Oh god, do I dream about Cas? he thought.
"Right.." Sam replied giving Dean a skeptical look
-
Castiel landed on some unstable surface. Looking down at his feet, his black shoes were sinking in sand with every step. He looked around at his surrounding, he was on a beach. The sun was starting to set, the sound of waves crashing filled the air. It was so picturesque.
He could hear faint music coming from his right. Off into the distance, he could see two people standing. He figured it was Y/N, but he didn't know who the other person was. He walks closer to the pair, he noticed small candles lit around the two.
They were swaying to the tune playing from the small radio on the ground. It was one of those old love songs. It seemed whoever she was with, they were romantically involved. When he got about 6 feet away from them, he could see who the mystery person was.
It was him.
Well, his vessel.
They seemed so happy, in love with the moment. Y/N had her arms wrapped around his torso resting her head on his chest. While dream Castiel's hands were on her waist. He didn't know she felt that way about him, maybe it was just the dream.
He watched them for what felt like forever, as he took in the sight. He had a strong love for Y/N, he had trouble figuring out what kind of love. She was one of the most beautiful humans he'd ever met. She's smart, funny, caring, in his eyes she was perfect.
Though, he wasn't sure how relationships between humans and angels would be seen by the man upstairs. Honestly, he didn't care.
He guessed he had been standing there so long Y/N felt his presence. She looked over and saw him. "Castiel?" her eyes went wide.
He freaked out and didn't know what to say, he vanished out of the dream landing back in the Impala.
Shortly after, Y/N woke up from her sleep. She looked over and saw Castiel. Her hope of that meeting being a part of her dream went out the window. He saw what she was doing. She prayed to anyone who was listening that he didn't think anything of it.
"Morning sunshine" Dean said when he saw she was awake.
"How'd you sleep?" He asked, he could see she was disheveled.
"Fine" She replied, trying to keep it together
"Did you see anything in there, Cas?"
"Nope. Just like you said, fields." He came up with the lie on the spot, he didn't want to embarrass Y/N anymore.
"That's boring-"
"Hang on, you told him to go into my dream?" Annoyance in her voice
"It was just for fun Y/N, plus like he said, he didn't see anything" He said in defense.
"You son of a bitch" she said flicking his ear
"Ough!"
-
The rest of the drive was mainly silent. Y/N didn't talk to Dean much and didn't say a word to Castiel. She was so embarrassed, out of all the dreams he could've walked in on it was that one.
It had been reoccurring for months, she and Cass on a beach in each other's arms. Not one problem in the world, it was just them. Her crush grew stronger as the dream progressed. She had done so well hiding her feelings for the angel. Now all of that is gone because Dean is nosy.
They finally made it to their next case, pulling up to a motel parking lot. Sam and Dean went inside the office to get a room, leaving Cass and Y/N alone.
They stood outside the car waiting for them to get back. Needless to say, it was pretty damn awkward. The silence was killing Y/N, she spoke up.
"Thank you" she said
"What?" Castiel was confused
"Thanks for not telling them what you saw." she kept her head down
"Oh, you're welcome... I didn't think it was my place to tell them about your dream."
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to invade your privacy" he felt so bad about this.
"It's alright. At least now you know." she sighed
"Know what?"
"You're gonna make me say it?" she looked up at him. He looked very confused
"That I like you, Castiel."
"Oh," he swallowed "I didn't want to assume anything, I had no idea about this"
"No one knew, I didn't want it getting in the way of the job. Plus I know there's no chance you feel the same way-"
"You're wrong" he cut her off
"Huh?"
"About how I feel, I do feel the same. I guess I've been keeping a secret too." He looked deep into her eyes to make sure she knew he was telling the truth. " There hasn't been a day that's gone by where I haven't thought about you, how kind and sweet you are. Not to mention how stunning you are."
Y/N thought she was still dreaming. She couldn't believe what he was saying, her heart started to race. She couldn't find any words, so she used her actions.
Her eyes flickered down to his lips back to his eyes, leaning in slow in case he wanted to back out. He matched her actions, leaning in connecting their lips. She runs her hand through his hair deepening the kiss.
"What the hell did we miss?" Dean's voice pulled them out of their daze, pulling apart from each other.
"Hey guys" she nervously smiled
"Hey" Dean mocked "Should we get you two lovebirds your own room?" he laughed
"Leave them alone" Sam said "c'mon rooms this way" he led the group towards the motel room
Dean walked in between Castiel and Y/N one arm on each of them pulling them in for an awkward hug.
"Isn't this great, my two best pals together. I can hear the wedding bells already!"

AU Dean angst filled drabble no one asked for (NOT MY GIF)
I've never written anything for AU Dean but I liked this idea when it popped into my head so it's told partially from his pov
Making it through the portal was shock then seeing doppelgangers of Sam and himself? That was a little unsettling.
Dean had just gotten settled in the library with the other Dean and Sam when he heard a voice that nearly made him drop the beer in his hand. "Dean?"
Sam cut his eyes at him wordlessly telling him he'd heard it too, that the recent trauma of their world collapsing and universe jumping hadn't made him lose his mind completely.
He felt like his air had been cut off when you came walking into the room. You were wearing jeans and a black t-shirt with a dark red flannel. Even in clothing so damn simple you were the most beautiful thing he'd ever laid his eyes on "Y/N?" He was on his feet without thinking but your eyes widened and you ducked closer to the other Dean who spoke up "Woah buddy. Slow down there"
He realized what he'd done and quickly felt his face flush with embarrassment "I am so sorry" he walked out the room, unsure where he was headed but he couldn't face you. He'd listened to his heart instead of his head. He knew you were gone or well his version of you. He'd held her as she died. It was of some consolation too see that this Dean hadn't made his mistakes, he'd kept you safe.
------------
Everyone was silent after AU Dean walked out. You looked up at Dean who still an arm protectively around you "What was that about?" AU Sam half raised his hand and when you looked at him he smiled in that so achingly familiar way. Guess your Winchesters and the AU Winchesters weren't so different after all.
"You look just like his Y/N" Dean looked from you to AU Sam "What happened to her?"
AU Sam took a deep breath "I don't know if the three of you ran across Eve in this universe?" You nodded so he continued "She caught Y/N..... we tried so damn hard to get to her in enough time... our Castiel was killed in battle so there was no one capable of saving her....she died in his arms"
Dean's arm tightened around you, no doubt remembering every close call you'd ever had "No wonder he acted like that seeing you. I would've too"
---------
After he was sure he could be around you Dean headed back to the library. You were sitting next to the other version of him with your head laid over on his shoulder. Both Sams had disappeared.
"Y/N, Dean I apologize for earlier" the other Dean spoke first "Your Sam explained man. It's ok" you smiled softly at him before standing up "Is it ok if I hug you?" He looked to your Dean who shrugged "She makes her own decisions man. I trust her"
At that answer he nodded "Of course" you slipped your arms around him and he pulled you into his chest. He closed your eyes at the feeling of you in his arms, you even used the same shampoo and perfume she had.
After a moment you pulled away and he let you. You looked over at your Dean then back at him "I know I'm not her but if she loved you like I love him, she didn't blame you and she'd be happy to know you were still alive and still fighting" "Thank you Y/N" He replied with a small smile. You nodded "Of course"

Tumblr media
"Well, Sammy. There's no need to lie about it.", Dean speaks, while leaning back in his chair. He is sitting in front of his brother in the library of the bunker. On the table are multiple piles of ancient books about witchcraft and mysticism, however, Dean chooses to ignore them:" After all those years of begging you, I am actually very happy that you listened to my advice. You do look much better like this. Even though, I probably wouldn't have cut it this short, just-."
Sam closes his eyes and rubs the bridge of his nose in pure frustration. After all, this has been going on for three days now. He takes another book into his hands and sighs:" I really don’t know how many times I have to tell you that I didn’t do it."
“Didn’t do what?”, Y/N who wanders into the room tilts her head, she places her pink “best sister in the whole world” mug on the table before sitting down next to Dean. He scoffs and playfully nudges her arm:” Our drill Sergeant over there claims that he didn’t cut his hair.”
It takes her a few seconds, but eventually, her carefree smile begins to turn into an irritated one: "W-What?" Dean, who didn't catch his sister's change of expression chuckles as if it's the funniest thing in the whole world:" I know, right?" Y/N clenches her jaw before she stands up again. She steps over to one of the large bookshelves and scans the old (and occasionally dusty) books. A few seconds later she pulls one out and opens it up. Her y/e/ced eyes skip over the chapters rather nervously.
"What's wrong?", Dean asks, still grinning from ear to ear as he takes a sip of his beer. However, when the huntress doesn't respond he turns around. "Y/N?", Sam shuts his laptop and blinks in bewilderment:" What are you looking for?"
His sister looks up, a worried look on her face:" You promise that you didn't simply cut your hair?" The younger Winchester wrinkles his forehead while letting out a breathless chuckle:" Hold on a second, Y/N, what-." "I need you to promise me?" "I promise." There is something flashing up in her eyes, that tells him this situation just took a dark turn.
Y/N takes a deep breath before nearly slamming the book on the table. The two brothers move closer towards it and for a few seconds they simply stare at the brownish paper, before looking back up. "What…what are we looking at?", Dean asks, while scratching his temple, his green eyes move back towards the pages. Y/N's right index finger finds its way to the little caricature:" This!" "And that's…?"
"Two days ago, while I was reading the newspaper I happened to stumble across an article about some guy who needed to be institutionalized after he started ripping off his own skin. He claimed, that a little goblin-like creature took his late mother's gold necklace.", Y/N explains:" I thought it was funny, you know. Small Goblins, taking people's prized possessions." She clears her throat:" Anyway. Yesterday, I read another article. A woman started to cut her arm off, declaring that she couldn't care less about her limbs after a small green creature grabbed her cat's ashes. She had to be institutionalized as well."
"So what? How does that have anything to do with me?", Sam asks and Y/N runs a hand through her hair. "Well.", she starts and sits down:" I looked into it, and turns out this little goblin actually exists. It's Irish folklore, and the opposite of that whole "golden pot at the end of the rainbow" myth. They're called "Cavecrackler". They primarily come during the night and steal something that's very meaningful to the individual in order to kind of bond with the victim. And then…"
Y/N stops talking and bites her lips. "Then what?", Dean asks, while Sam's eyes move down to the page. They widen as soon as he reads the last paragraph:" They slowly steal their souls."

Valley of God [Read chapters 1-4]
a deancas horror au by valleydean (emmbrancsxx0) halloween horror series
SUMMARY: Dean and Castiel have been dating for a little under a year, and things are going great - or, at least, that's what Dean thought. On the weekend before the summer solstice, Cas is hired to take a group of campers on an excursion through the Appalachian Trail in the Hundred-Mile Wilderness. Much to Cas' shock, Dean tags along. When the campers are attacked by mysterious forces in the forest, they end up in a peculiar town hidden under an eternal mist. Soon, members of their group start to go missing, and Dean can't shake the feeling that something led them to town for a purpose.
PREVIEW:
“Start from the beginning,” Ishim said.
At once, Charlie, Jo, and Victor began talking over each other.
Ishim held up his hand, silencing them. “One at a time.”
Everyone was quiet then, waiting for someone else to talk. When it became apparent no one would, Dean opened his mouth, figuring somebody had to do it.
Cas beat him to the punch: “We were hiking the Appalachian Trail and took a small detour to the ruins at the top of the mountain—”
“The old temple ruins?” Ishim confirmed.
Cas nodded. “We made camp not far from them. Some time in the middle of the night, we were awoken by… To be frank, I’m not sure what it was. Something attacked us. It shook our tents like it was trying to get inside.”
“An animal?” Ishim asked.
Cas shook his head. “No. I… We heard screaming. There were whispers. Some of us saw people in the forest.”
“Can you describe these people?”
“We didn’t get a good look at their faces. It was too dark.”
Ishim hummed. Then, “What happened then?”
“I thought it would be safer if we got off the mountain. I told the others to run,” Cas explained, and Dean narrowed his eyes at the back of his head. He remembered what Cas had said before he left the tent. Something about Dean being safer there. And now he was saying they hadn’t been safe at camp?
It didn’t make a lick of sense.
“We lost each other as we came down the mountain,” Cas was saying. “One of us may still be in the forest. If he isn’t here…” Cas shook his head mournfully down at his lap, but there was something in the line of his shoulders. Dean couldn’t place it. “I’m afraid he might be hurt.”
“Look, is it possible it was people from the town playing a prank?” Victor cut in.
Ishim sat back in his chair, not taking a second to mull it over. He shook his head immediately. “No. We keep to ourselves. We don’t get many outsiders.”
“You’re telling me,” Jo grumbled, probably thinking the same things Dean was.
The clothes, the streetlamps, the cobblestones, the town marshal? It all looked like something out of a 1800s period drama. Dean felt like he’d just stepped out of a time machine.
“Where are we?” Charlie asked.
Ishim said, “Nahaliel.”
Dean frowned. “That’s the name of the town? Kinda a mouthful.”
“It means Valley of God,” Ishim told him, shooting Dean a hostile look. Dean didn’t really care what the name meant!
Suddenly, the door swung open again. Dean jolted, at the end of his rope. He wasn’t the only one, because everyone whipped around, too.
Benjamin came back inside, two other people in tow. First was a slender guy who, even though it was the middle of the night, was dressed in a three-piece suit with a collarless shirt held together by a diamond stickpin. His shoulders were held back, making him look taller and more imposing than he actually was. Behind him, there was a stern-looking woman in a white blouse tucked into a long skirt. Her hair was pulled into a tight bun. An antique carved ivory cameo brooch was pinned to her collar.
Ishim stood up and said, “This is Raphael. He’s Nahaliel’s acting leader.”
Leader. Not mayor or governor. Leader.
Acting leader, actually. Dean didn’t know if it was worth it to ask what happened to their regular one. He really didn’t give a shit, anyway, considering how many other things were going on. Either way, these people were weird as hell.
Dean figured they must be Mennonite or something. That was the only explanation he could come up with.
“Raphael, these people were camping near the ruins on the mountain. They said something attacked them. One of them is still missing.”
“I see,” Raphael said. His tone was deep and dark, baritone. It shook inside the hollow of Dean’s bones. He spoke with absolutely no inflection at all. “Your friend?” He stood to the side of Ishim’s desk and gave them all the once-over. Dean felt himself tense when the guy’s eyes briefly passed over him. Like Raphael’s voice, his expression was unyielding and emotionless.
“Their friend,” Cas corrected. “They were on a tour. I’m their guide.” He said the last part sullenly, like he was blaming himself for what happened. For losing Garth. Dean’s heart tugged before he remembered he was mad at Cas.
Recovering, Cas looked up at Raphael again and said, “My name is Castiel.”
“Castiel,” Raphael repeated. “You were the guide for all…” He inspected everyone else again, like he was counting them. “Six of them?”
Dean’s forehead wrinkled. It was kind of a weird thing to say. Maybe the guy was just trying to figure out if everyone else was accounted for.
Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Cas pull his shoulders back. “Yes. Including Garth.”
“The one who is missing?”
Cas nodded. “We thought, maybe, he saw the lights of your town and came here but…” He paused, and Dean could practically hear the cogs in his head turning. When he spoke again, he asked, “This town. How long have you been here?”
“A long time,” Raphael answered. “We were founded centuries ago.”
“That’s impossible. I’ve been this way hundreds of times. I’ve never seen this place.”
Dean tensed his fists on his lap, because Garth was still out there and they were getting off topic.
“Yet, here we are,” Raphael said.
“But—” Cas started.
Dean cut him off, “Who the hell cares?” He stood up, ready to go back into the damn woods and find Garth himself if he had to. “We’re wasting time standing around here with our dicks in our hands. Meanwhile, Garth’s still out there with who the hell knows what!”
“We will find your friend,” Raphael told him, slow and measured, and maybe Dean was just freaked out and overreacting, but this didn’t feel like the usual removed, calm public service guy attitude found in cops taking witness statements. Raphael was starting to piss him off.
Finally, Raphael turned to Ishim and said, “Form a search party and begin looking immediately.”
Ishim nodded, seeming ready to hop to it.
“Great!” Dean bit out. “I’m coming, too.”
“Me, too,” Victor said, his chair legs scraping on the wooden floor as he got up. Benny leaned off the wall.
“Don’t be ridiculous. You’ve all been through an ordeal,” the woman who’d walked in with Raphael finally spoke. Everyone in the room turned to her. “You should rest. Let us handle the search.”
Dean told her, “Look, lady—”
“Naomi.”
“Right. Naomi,” he said, trying not to lose his patience. “I don’t think any of us are gonna rest very well until we find Garth. He’s our buddy.”
“And our people know these woods,” Naomi returned pleasantly. “There’s no sense in another one of you getting lost out there. Our marshal will find your friend quicker without you. In the meantime, there’s space for each of you at the inn. I’ll take you there. It isn’t far.”
Dean was still wary, even though the reasoning made sense. He looked at the others, trying to gauge what they were thinking. All of them shared uncertain looks with one another.
Cas sighed and relented, “Yes. Thank you.”
“Excellent. If you’ll follow me.”
Maybe all of them were just too bone-tired to do anything but go with the flow, but they all followed Naomi out of the marshal’s office. Together, they started down the street.
Ahead of him, Charlie and Jo had their arms around each other as they spoke in soft voices. Victor and Benny were looking around at their surroundings. Cas kept his head down, his shoulders tucked up to his ears.
Dean figured now was as good a time as any.
He rushed to Cas’ side and demanded, “You wanna tell me what the fuck all that was about at camp?”
Cas looked at him, expression drawn but eyes deep wells of emotion. “Dean, I promise, I’ll explain everything later.”
No way. Not good enough.
Dean stopped walking abruptly and grabbed Cas’ arm, manhandling him around. “Yeah, how ‘bout you explain now?”
Cas’ gaze roamed Dean’s face. His mouth was open, like he’d start talking at any second, but he never did. Dean didn’t know if he was searching for an excuse or what, but his patience was running out.
Cas inhaled. “Dean—”
“Please keep up! The mist is thick tonight. We wouldn’t want you losing your way,” Naomi called from up ahead, pausing to look back at them. The others did, too, all of them blinking Dean and Cas’ way.
Slight embarrassment uncurled in Dean’s gut. He looked back at Cas, whose face was shored up into a neutral mask again. Cas dipped his chin down and started walking after the others.
Dean flapped his arms against his sides in defeat and stomped after him.

hey berk :/ i’m in dire need of a reminder that healing can happen and that there is such a thing as a soft sequel to a harsher story—and i have come to humbly ask for, as one does, any destiel fic recs that you have where they just. get to go somewhere quiet and sunny and slow and. heal. and grow. and have a gentle epilogue.
so if you have a spare moment at some point… please send some my way <3
hello! here are some stories that make me feel soft!!
the lovers choice : “Give me the short version,” says Bobby, and Dean looks at Cas, and Cas just shrugs.
“Uh,” says Dean. “I kind of adopted God.”
or: andrew dabb i see your request for the return of fan favourites and i raise you “jack resurrects them all bc he thinks his dads should have more friends”
things happen (they do, they do, and they do) : So, the first thing that happens is Castiel comes back.
~~~
"Right," Dean says eventually, gruffly. He looks down at his shoes. "I'm not gonna tell you how to live your life, man. It's—you know, yours. Do your thing, love who you love, whatever. I can't really stop you from loving me, if that's what you've decided to do, but I don't—I can't—"
"I know," Castiel murmurs, still just smiling a little, not looking heartbroken at all. "Don't worry about it, Dean, that's all I ask."
"So we're—" Dean risks a glance up, swallowing thickly. "We're good?"
Castiel hums. "We're good."
for which no words exist : 'a prayer for which no words exist' // richard siken
"Dear Cas who art in my bathtub, give me the strength to be honest about how I feel. For your sake and for mine. Forgive me all the times I wasn’t in the past, all the words I should have said but didn’t. And please stay. Please stay with me when all is said and done. Amen. "
Dean rescues a newly human Cas from the Empty. That's the easy step.
until the end and after : A year ago, the world didn't end. Now it's summer and the cicadas are buzzing, and something is changing. Something is going to give.
and this one is my own fic, but it fits what you’re asking for nearly to the letter so i’m including it.
one more sweet boy to be butchered by men : Daddy’s blunt little instrument.
It’s all he had ever known because it’s all he was ever shown. He was only as good as his last kill. His worth came from his ability to take care of Sam. He existed to take care of others. And Dean had been okay with that, or at least he thought he had been.
Everything changed for Dean when he met Castiel. And everything changed again with the love that came from knowing Castiel.
or; love changes everything, doesn’t it?
i hope you enjoy these!!
Summary: Cas has been getting progressively worried about Dean’s drinking for a while but mentioning it only causes tension in their marriage. The sudden death of Dean’s father brings everything to the breaking point. After a particularly bad fight, his husband seeks solace in whiskey and flirty women in the aftermath. When Cas finds out, he decides he’s had his fill, packs his bags, and leaves. Sam lives in California and has built a career as a well respected addictions counselor. When Cas calls to tell him that Dean is missing on a bender and their marriage is likely over, he drops everything to come to Kansas to find his brother. Dean clearly needs help. Sam convinces him to go with him to California and go through a rehab program. Dean only agrees because Cas refuses to have anything to do with him unless he stops drinking permanently. If he can't, their marriage is finished. Along the way, Sam and Dean discover that their father left them with more than just painful memories of a traumatic childhood. Their half-brother Adam might be exactly who they need to help pull all the fractured pieces together. Cas is giving Dean one last chance to turn things around. Nothing is easy, but maybe it’s still worth fighting for.
Excerpt: “You know the only difference that would have made was that you would be as miserable as he was.” Cas grabbed both of their toothbrushes and toothpaste from the ensuite bathroom, tossing Dean’s his way. “I could’ve tried harder to get him to quit, go to rehab or something.” The toiletries went in the bag with some deodorant, a flannel, and some denim. He shot Cas a dirty look when he heard him huff in exasperation. “How many times did you ask him to quit? Remember when Sam flew in for an intervention? He’s a professional addictions counselor and the only thing that happened was that Sam flew home with a black eye and a refusal to ever come back.” “That’s just because they’re too much alike and can’t stop themselves from fighting.” Dean was starting to raise his voice. Cas wasn’t having any of it. “No,” he knew he sounded snarky as shit but was so very tired of having the same argument about John Winchester’s parenting skills. “It’s because your father is a narcissistic asshole with undiagnosed mental health issues that he self-medicates with whiskey.” Dean walked around the bed to where Cas was and grabbed his arm. The grip wasn’t rough but it wasn’t gentle either. His green eyes were anguished and pleading.   “Don’t say that, he could be dying right now.” Somewhere deep down Cas knew he should be feeling guilty about just how little empathy he had for John right then. He’d feel more compassion for a complete stranger than he did for the man who had hurt Dean again and again, both as a child and as an adult. He felt a small flash of resentment at having to defend Dean from his own negative thinking. “It was always going to be this way with him, Dean. Every counselor you’ve ever had has told you the same thing for years. You are not responsible for fixing him. Don’t kill yourself trying to be accepted by someone who doesn’t even deserve you.”
It was obvious that your boyfriend hated when you spent time with the Winchesters, it didn't matter that Jack was technically three years old, or that Castiel was an Angel. You didn't tell him about you hunting supernatural creatures—so you could have guessed that he translated you disappearing for days on end with them to be you cheating— even though that wasn’t the case at all. You loved Ethan with every fiber of your being, but when his concern for you turned borderline verbally abusive… not so much.
You had just finished another successful hunt with the miniature family, taking shelter in a bar as everyone joked around and laughed, reveling in another day earned, and more lives saved. You were enjoying your time before your phone rang, everyone pausing what they were doing to give you looks of sympathy. Your body was as equally rigged, but you just halfheartedly smiled, getting up and walking away, heading towards the girl's bathroom.
Listening to Ethan yell at you over the phone was the last thing that you wanted to hear, pinching the bridge of your nose as you got your earful.
Sighing you hung up, lowering your head as you braced yourself on the sink.
“______?” A gruff voice called out to you. “Cas!” Your eyes were wide, “You can't be in here, this is the girl's bathroom!” He looked around before settling on you again. “Both bathrooms look the same.” You chuckled, smiling softly at the clueless being. “Well, what are you doing in here?” You asked, putting your phone in your back pocket.
“I just wanted to make sure that you were okay, it is common knowledge that your boyfriend is a— as Dean would say— an ‘asshole.’” You would laugh at his swearing if he wasn't right, but he was, and you were embarrassed. You knew it was common knowledge that everyone hated your boyfriend, and it was the fact that you still stayed.
“What can I do to make you feel better?” He asked, advancing towards you as he watched you carefully. “I don't — I don't know.” You sighed, rubbing the bridge between your eyes. “I saw that physical pleasure could help.” Your eyes widened as Castiel got on his knees, eye peering up at you. “Cas, you don't,” You gulped, arousal beginning to pool in your jeans shamefully, “You don't have too.” You weren't saying you can't, why weren't you saying you can't?
“I offered, and I would like to do so.” You couldn't say no as his large hands rested on your waistband of jeans. “Okay, yeah.” You said breathlessly. His nimble fingers began to tug them down, eyes focused on yours intently as both your panties and pants fell to your knees. He let out a guttural groan. “You smell delectable.” Your body heated up as his mouth descended to your core, his tongue licking a testing stripe up your slit. Your hand clamped over your mouth as you silenced a moan, realizing that there was a plethora of patrons outside that door.
As he gauged your reaction, he dove his tongue deeper, spreading your legs to get better access to your clit. As he suckled on the hardened bud, you shivered and shook above him, muted noises coming out in weak muffling as your hand gripped onto his hair for dear life. White dotted your vision as your back arched, legs shaking. Cas was satisfied with what he was pulling from you, and he selfishly wanted more, burying one of his fingers deep inside you as he caressed your g-spot.
“Cas, Cas, I'm gonna cum— Cas!” You called out. As you came, he added a second finger to aid you through your orgasm, your juices painting the scruff of the lower half of his face, which itched deliciously between your thighs.
As he pulled away, he looked at you for approval.
“Do you feel better?” He rasped. You could only laugh, carding your fingers through his hair. “I'd say Ethan should be expecting a breakup call sometime soon.”
"I miss you." Castiel mutters as soon as the call disconnects and he knows Dean can't hear him. He sets his phone on the table, staring down at it, a deep sadness settling in his features, the expression familiar at this point.
"It's difficult, isn't it?" A gentle, feminine voice says on his right. "Being away from someone you care so much about I mean." He looks at her and suddenly her expression turns self-conscious, her cheeks turning a deep shade of pink. "I wasn't listening in or anything," she rushes to explain, "I simply came by to ask you if you wanted a refill and I heard you," she lifts the pot filled with coffee she brings with her.
"It's alright," he replies, "and yes, I agree, it's difficult." And painful, he adds in the privacy of his own mind.
She nods along, "my partner is away too, working, so I get it."
This, this generous empathy humans have for others, no matter if they are strangers or not, it's one of the things he loves more about them. The ability to put themselves in other people's shoes, offer comfort and understanding so freely. He doesn't even bother to tell her Dean and him aren't a couple. "I'm sure they appreciate knowing that you miss them."
Castiel nods, keeping to himself the fact he actually didn't tell Dean.
It's complicated, so complicated.
She gives him a sad smile and refills his empty mug, excusing herself when someone calls for her from another table.
Castiel goes back to staring down at his phone. He wonders... Would Dean really appreciate it? Would he take it well if Castiel were to make it all even more complicated than it already is? Would he be angry? Would he joke to avoid a heartfelt moment?
He picks up the phone and opens the text app, selecting Dean's conversation, the first one on the list, he types away, a bit slowly, because it still isn't easy for him. He ignores the emoticons and, before he can think twice about it, he hits send.
> I miss you.
He suppresses the urge to pocket his phone, or even turn it off. He watches the screen instead as three dots appear, signaling Dean is typing something back. He feels such a deep regret, such a exhilarating hope. Such a small gesture for some, Castiel feels as he has just taken the greatest leap of his existence. He just hopes Dean is going to be there to soften the blow when he irremediable has to land.
It maybe takes a century, or just ten seconds, or ten minutes, but suddenly the dots are gone and a new text appears on his screen.
> i miss u too
It says. Castiel stares at his phone, smiling down at it. He promises himself the next time he is going to use his voice to express this sentiment.
(So I forgot that this episode is all Dean. So what I'm going to do is doing in 3rd Person and go along with the episode, with some things added in this. Hope you enjoy!)
*3rd Person POV*
In a motel, Dean and (y/n) were fast asleep. (Y/n) was on her side, her back to Dean's chest as he had her close to him, his left arm under her neck and his right arm drapped over her waist and his chin placed on the space where her neck and shoulder connected.
Sam, who was wide awake, gets up then pauses as he looks at them before leaving the room. A car pulls up and Sam gets in the passenger side, Ruby is driving. "Ready?" She asked him. "Definitely." Sam said and they drive off.
As he sleeps, Dean is dreaming and sees flashes of his terrified face, in red, and the sound of screams. He wakes, suddenly, to find Castiel sitting on his bed. "Hello, Dean. What were you dreaming about?" Castiel asked, plainly, then Dean looks over at (y/n), who didn't wake up. "She won't wake." Castiel said and Dean looks back at him.
"What did you do to her?" He asked, angrily. "Just put her in a deep sleep." Castiel said, plainly, and Dean glares at him. "What do you want?" he asked, annoyed. "Listen to me. You have to stop it." Castiel said. "Stop what?" Dean asked then Castiel puts two fingers to Dean's forehead.
"Move it buddy –" a voice ordered and Dean wakes up to see that he is outside on a bench, the voice belonging to a cop. "...you can't sleep here." said the officer. "Okay...sleep...where?" Dean asked with a groan as he sits up. "Anywhere but here." The officer said and he walks away.
Dean tries to make a call on his cell, but gets no signal. "Perfect." He growls and gets up. Moments later, he enters JAY BIRD's DINER and sits at the diner's counter next to a young dark haired man.
"Hey, where the hell am I?" Dean asked him. "Jay Bird's Diner." the man said. "Yeah, thanks. I mean, uh...city and state." Dean said. "Lawrence, Kansas." The young man replied and Dean is taken aback. "Lawrence." He said, shocked.
"Hey, you okay buddy?" The man asked Dean, concerned. "Yeah, tough night." Dean said as he shakes his head. The young man turns to the waiter and said. "Hey, uh, coffee here, Reg."
"Okay, coming right up." Reg said while Dean pulls his cell phone from his pocket. "Can you tell me where I can get reception on this thing?" Dean asked and the man gives him a confused look. "The USS Enterprise?" The man asked with sarcasm. Dean looks at REG as he brings the coffee over and noticed he is dressed in 1970s hippie gear.
"Thanks...nice threads. You know Sonny and Cher broke up, right?" Dean said after accepting the coffee. "Sonny and Cher broke up?" The young man asked then Dean looks around the diner and notices everyone is dressed in 1970s-era clothes. He looks at the newspaper the young man is reading. The headline reads Nixon accepts resignation of top… and the date is Monday, April 30, 1973. Dean mouths the words Seventy three as another Man enters the diner.
"Hey, Winchester." the man calls out and Dean and the Young Man look around. The Man shakes the hand of the Young Man. "Son of a bitch. How you doing, Corporal?" The man asked. "Hey, Mr. D." The young man greets.
"I heard you were back." said the older man. "Yeah, a little while now." The young man said. "Good to have you home, John, damn good." The older man said and Dean's eyes widen at this, shocked.
"Dad?" he mutters.
"Well, say hello to your old man for me." the man said to John. "You got it, Mr. D." John said and he turns and notices Dean staring at him. "Do we know each other?" John asked him. "I guess not." Dean said then John gets up to leave. "Take it easy, pal." John said after putting Dean's shoulder then walks off. "Yeah." Dean said, his mind still reeling at what just happened.
Later, Dean was following John Winchester when he turns a corner and bumps into Castiel. "What is this?" Dean asked him. "What does it look like?" Castiel asked him and Dean looks around. "Is it real?" Dean asked. "Very." Castiel said.
"Okay, so what? Angels got their hands on some Deloreans?" Dean asked, sarcastically, and Castiel gives him a confused look. "How did I get here?" Dean asked him. "Time is fluid, Dean. It's not easy, but we can bend it on occasion." Castiel replied.
"Well bend it back or tell me what the hell I'm doing here!" Dean yells, angrily. "I told you, you have to stop it." Castiel said. "Stop what? Huh? What, is there something nasty after my Dad?" Dean asked. Then a car horn sounds out and he turns to it. When he turns back, Castiel is gone. "Oh, come on! What, are you allergic to straight answers, you son of a bitch?!" Dean growls, annoyed.
Later that day, at the Rainbow Motors Car Dealership, John was talking to a car salesman as they stand in front of a beige VW van. "A fine young man like yourself, just starting out? How about I take off another 250?" the salesman asked and John considers it for a moment.
"Let's do it." John said and the salesman smiles. "I'll get the paperwork." The salesman said and he walks off while John walks over to the front of the van and rubs the headlights.
"That's not the one you want." a voice said and John looks over and sees Dean leaning on a '67 Chevy Impala. "You following me?" John asked him, suspiciously. "No, no, I was just passing by. I never got to thank you for that cup of coffee this morning. I was a little out of it." Dean said. "More than a little." John chuckles.
"Let me repay the favor." Dean said and he pats the hood of the Impala. "This is the one you want." He said as John walks over to him. "Oh yeah, you – you know something about cars?" John asked. Dean nods his head and looks slightly nostalgic. "Yeah... yeah, my Dad taught me everything I know. And this – this is a great car." Dean said and opens the hood of the Impala and leans in. John joins him on the side of the car.
"327 four barrel, 275 horses. A little TLC and this thing is cherry." Dean said and John looks over, impressed. "You know man, you're right." He said and Dean nods over his shoulder at the van. "Then what are you buying that thing for?" asked Dean. "I kinda promised someone I would." John said. "Over a '67 Chevy? I mean, come on, this is the car of a lifetime. Trust me, this thing's still gonna be badass when it's 40." Dean said.
John considers it for a moment and hold out his hand to Dean. "John Winchester." He introduced and Dean shakes his hand. "Dean Van Halen – and thank you." Dean said and John looks in the open windows of the Impala. "I was in pretty rough shape this morning, huh?" Dean said and John snorts. "No kidding."
"I've been hung over before but, hey, I was, I was getting chills in that diner. You didn't feel any of those cold spots, did you?" Dean asked. "Nope." John replied. "I swore I smelled something weird too, you know? Like...like rotten eggs. You didn't happen to smell any sulfur by chance?" Dean asked. "No." John said with confusion. "No...There been any cattle mutilations in town recently?" Dean asked and John stands up and turns to him.
"Okay, mister! Stop it." he said, firmly. "Yeah, if only I knew what to stop. Listen, uh – watch out for yourself okay?" Dean said and John raises an eyebrow at him. "Yeah, sure." He said, suspiciously. Dean pats the Impala again and leaves just as the salesman comes up. "So?" asked the salesman and John points at the Impala. "I'll take this one." He said.
John pulls up on a suburban street in the Impala. Further down the street Dean pulls up and he watches as a young blonde woman runs from a house to John's car. "Hey." John greets. "What's this?" The girl asked as she looks at the Impala. "My car." John said as the girl walks around the back of the car, and John follows her.
"What happened to the van?" she asked. "Mary, this is better than the van! This has got a 327, a four barrel carburetor." John said and Dean's eyes widen. "Mom?" he said, shocked.
Later, Mary and John are inside with milkshakes while Dean watches them through a window. "Sammy, wherever you are, Mom is a babe." He mutters then thinks over what he just said. "I'm going to hell...again." he mutters as he watches them.
Nothing seemed out of the ordinary as John and Mary sat, talked and ate. At one point, a young man, with (h/c) hair, comes up to then and starts to talking to them. They seemed to get along as they were smiling and laughing but Dean couldn't help but wonder why the young guy looked a bit familiar.
But before he could dwell on it too long, the man leaves and a few moments later, Mary gets up and leaves. John smiles a bit then looks down at something. Dean couldn't see what it was but John looks back, jumps and he stuffs something in his pocket as Mary starts to come back and sit across from him.
"Why are you following my friend and her boyfriend?" a male voice asked. Dean turns around and the young man knees him in the stomach and throws him against a metal container next to the building. He goes to punch Dean, who dodges it and steps sideways.
"Are you crazy?" Dean asked but the man continues his attack.
Dean backs up as the young man comes after him, but Dean manages to grab his arms. "You've been trailing her since her house." The man growls. "I don't know what you're talking about –" Dean said and the man huffs a laugh. "Calling my friend a liar?" He said then he and Dean grapple.
Dean grabs him, holds him against a wall and that's when he got a good look and realized who he was. "(Father's name)?" He said, shocked, and the man's eyes narrow at him. "How do you know my name?" He asked with a growl. "Well, you're a hunter, right?" Dean asked and (Father's name) gives him a bewildered look.
(just to make it better to write, instead of putting (Father's name) I'm gonna put (f/n) instead.)
Later that night, John and Mary pull up to Mary's house in the Impala. "See you later?" John asked her. "If you're lucky." Mary said, smiling. They kiss and Mary gets out of the car. As she approaches the house, Dean and (f/n) appear. "So, this my stalker?" Mary asked, crossing her arms. "Names Dean....and he's a hunter." (F/n) replied. "You know I can speak for myself." Dean said, quickly, to him while Mary looks at Dean, who looks back at Mary.
"Wait, you're a hunter?" He asked and Mary nods in response.
"Wait, if he's a hunter...I'm not sure he should come in." She said. "You can trust me. I mean, come on, we're all hunters, right? I mean, we're – we're practically family." Dean said. "Yeah, thing is, my Dad, he's a little, um..." Mary stops and Dean looks towards the front door then back at Mary.
"Oh, I gotta meet him." He said. "You've heard of him?" Mary asked. "Clearly not enough." Dean said and Mary looks over at (f/n). "You okay with this?" (F/n) asked her. "Yes, I've got this." Mary said and (F/n) nods before he pats Dean's shoulder.
"Okay, well I better get outta here. Good luck, buddy." (F/n) said and he starts to walk off. "What, got a hot date?" Mary teases and (f/n) chuckles. "Maybe..." he said with a smirk. "Could it be a certain waitress from the bar we like to go to?" Mary asked and (f/n)'s face turns red.
Mary giggles then said. "Well, say hello to (mother's name) for me." Dean stands frozen in his spot at this when (f/n) shouts back. "Will do!" Before he heads towards the white truck, gets inside and drives off.
Afterwhile, inside the Campbell house, Mary's father looks Dean over. "So, you're a hunter? Well, tell me something, mister hunter, you kill vampires with wooden stakes or silver?" He asked Dean. "Neither, you cut their heads off." Dean replied and Mary smiles. "So, did I pass your test?" Dean asked. "Yep. Now get out of my house." Her dad ordered.
"Dad!" Mary exclaims. "I don't trust other hunters, Dean, don't want their help, don't want them around my family." Mary's father said as his wife is setting the table in the next room, and calls to Samuel. "Knock it off, Samuel."
"He's a hunter." the father said as his wife walks into the room. "Who passed your little pop quiz, and now I am inviting him to dinner." She said then she turned to Dean. "Are you hungry?" She asked, sweetly. "Starving." Dean said. "Good. I'm Deanna, you've met my husband Samuel, now wash up." She said and Dean looks at Mary. "Samuel and Deanna?" Dean asked and Mary nods. "Really?" He mutters.
Later, Dean, Mary, Samuel and Deanna are sitting around the dining room table, eating dinner. Deanna leans over and touches Dean's arm. "First time in Lawrence, Dean?" She asked him. "Well, it's been a while. Things sure have changed...I think." He replied. "You working a job?" Samuel asked. "Yeah, maybe." Dean said.
"What's that mean?" Samuel asked him. "It means I don't trust other hunters either, Samuel." Dean said and Samuel narrows his eyes.
"Hey, um, so why were you following me and John?" Mary asked Dean. "Mmm, I thought something was after your, um, boyfriend, but um, I don't think that anymore." Dean said. "John Winchester mixing it up with spirits, can you imagine?" Deanna said, chuckling, while Samuel frowns at this.
"I saw that." Mary said to her father. "What?" Samuel asked. "That sour lemon look." Mary replied. "Now hold on, John's a really, really nice...naive civilian." Samuel said. "So what? You'd rather me be with a guy like this?" She said as she nods to Dean. "What? No, no. No." Dean said, quickly. "Or like (f/n)?" Mary asked her father, ignoring Dean.
"Mary, of course not, it's just that I –"
"That's enough, both of you, we have company." Deanna said, firmly, and Samuel and Mary look down.
"So what about you, Samuel, you, uh, working a job?" Dean asked. "Might be." Samuel said. "He's working a job on the Whitshire Farm." Mary said and Samuel gives her a look as Dean clears his throat.
"Whitshire, why does that name sound familiar to me?" Dean asked. "Well, it's been all over the papers. Tom Whitshire. Got tangled up in a combine a few towns over." Samuel replied. "That kind of thing happens." Dean said. "So why was he on it in the first place when his crops are all dead?" Samuel asked him. "Demonic omens?" Dean said, shrugging. "That's what I gotta find out." said Samuel.
"What about the rest of the town? Well, did you find anything on the web...Of information that you have assembled?" Dean asked. "Electrical storms maybe. The weather service graphs should be here on Friday." Deanna said. "By mail?" Dean asked. "No, we hired a jet liner to fly 'em to us overnight." Samuel said.
"You know, it sounds to me like we might be hunting the same thing. You know if we go in there in numbers, we could take care of this real quick." Dean said. What part of "we work alone do you not understand, son?" Samuel growled.
"What about (f/n)? You seem to work with him." Dean tries to defend. "I've known his father since we were kids. So I've known him all his life. I trust him." Samuel said, firmly.
The next morning, at the Whitshire home, Mary and Samuel are sitting in a truck just as a motorcycle, riding by (f/n) comes up behind them. "And I'm here because?" Mary asked. "Family business, Mary...family." Samuel said and Mary scoffs. "What? You'd rather be waving pom-poms at a bunch of dumb jocks?" He asked as Mary sees a boy leaning on a tree nearby and walks towards him. "Where you goin'?" He asked her. "To do the job, Dad." She replied.
(F/n) looks over at her then at Samuel. "I'll go with her." He said and he follows Mary while Samuel walks to the house and knocks on the door.
Dean opens the door, dressed as a priest, which caught Samuel by surprise. "Father, I see you beat me here." he said after recovering from the shock, quickly. "The Lord is funny that way." Dean said then he turns to the woman inside. "Beth Whitshire, this is my associate, our senior, senior priest, Father Chaney." Dean introduced as he and Beth joins Samuel outside on the doorstep.
"Please accept our deepest condolences on behalf of the county diocese." Samuel said. "Thank you." Beth said. "Mrs. Whitshire was just telling me all about Tom, and how normal and ordinary things were the day before his death." Dean said. "I see, so you didn't notice anything unusual, ma'am?" Samuel asked. "You mean like my husband's guts fertilizing the back 40?" She asked.
Samuel is stunned into silence at her response, and Dean, looking amused, turns to leave. "Excuse me." Dean said and he pats Samuel on the back and then makes his way off the porch. Samuel shares an awkward smile with Beth, while Dean approachs Mary, (f/n) and the boy.
Mary notices Dean and turns back to the boy. "Charlie, would you like to tell the Father here what you just toldmus?" she asked the young boy. The boy looks up at Dean then said. "Dad drank sometimes. Sometimes he got rough with Mom."
"And that's when the stranger came?" (f/n) asked. "I just thought he was some Bible thumper, like you all. He showed up about a week ago." Charlie said. "Saying what?" Dean asked. "Did I want the beatings to stop? I just thought he was crazy, I didn't think – and the next thing I know, Dad's dead." Charlie said then he looks between the two.
"Am I going to jail?" he asked and Mary shakes her head. "You didn't do this, Charlie." She assures. "Did the stranger want something in return?" Dean asked him. "He didn't want anything." Charlie replied. "Come on, Chuck, he wasn't just handing out freebies now, was he?" Dean asked and Charles sighs.
"He did say something about comin' a callin' ten years from now. Maybe he'd want something then." he replied. "Something like what?" Dean asked. "I don't know, okay? Look, I told you he was nuts." Charlie said and Mary grabs Dean's and (f/n)'s arms and leads them a few steps away.
"What do you think?" she asked Dean. "I think he just pimped his soul to a demon and doesn't even know it." Dean replied and (f/n) nods. "I was thinking the same." He mutters and Mary returns to Charlie, Dean and (f/n) follow her.
"Charlie, do you remember what this stranger looked like?" Mary asked him. "Yeah, he was about 5'10, white, normal looking really." Charlie replied. "Anything else?" (F/n) asked him. "There was one thing." Charlie said. "What?" Dean asked. "It's just, the light hit his eyes in a weird way and...for a moment I coulda sworn –" he stops and bites his lips.
"What? That they were black? Or red maybe?" Dean asked and Charlie shakes his head. "No, they were yellow. Pale yellow." He replied and Dean looks over at Mary and (f/n).
That night, at the Campbell house, Dean slams a map down on the dining room table. Deanna is in the kitchen chopping bananas. "What do you say we just slow down and talk this thing through." (F/n) said to Dean. "There's nothing to talk about." Dean said. "Except you're saying it's a demon, and none of us has ever heard of a demon with yellow eyes." (F/n) said. "Yeah, well, I have. This thing killed my family." Dean said, angrily.
"Just calm down, son." Samuel said, calmly, but Dean turns to him. "You don't get it, do you? You are in danger, we are all in danger. In fact, you need to get yourself someplace safe." Dean said. "Not until we know what we're dealing with here." Samuel said as Deanna comes in carrying a fruit salad.
"Sam's right, Dean, it could be a demon, it could be a shapeshifter, it could be any number of things." she said. "I know what this thing is!" Dean yells while Deanna goes back into the kitchen. "And I'm gonna kill it, that's all the talking I need to do." Dean growls.
"You're gonna kill a demon? How?" Samuel asked. "There's a hunter named Daniel Elkins. He lives in Colorado, he has Colt's gun." Dean said and (f/n) gives him a confused look. "Whoa, whoa, whoa. Colt's gun? Like The Colt?" He asked and Dean nods.
"I thought that was just a bedtime story?" (F/n) asked and Samuel shrugs. "Well, it's real." Dean said and Samuel looks at Deanna, they don't know what to think. "Alright, say that it is. You got some kind of crystal ball telling you where this demon's gonna be?" Samuel asked. "Yeah, maybe I do." Dean said as he takes John's journal out of his jacket and flips it open on the table.
"What's this?" (f/n) asked him. "It's a list." Dean replied. "Of what?" Samuel asked. "My Dad wrote down anyone he thought ever came in contact with the Yellow Eyed Demon: who, where and when." Dean replied. "Why?" Samuel asked him. "‘Cause the more he could learn about the son of a bitch, the more he could figure out why it killed my Mom." Dean said then he flips the page.
"Look, Whitshire Farm. I told you that name sounded familiar." Dean said and Samuel gives him a confused look. "Whitshire Farms, that was two days ago. How the hell is that on your Dad's list?" He asked. "Uh...my Dad could see the future." Dean replied, quickly, then points at the page. "Look at this, it says he's gonna hit here tomorrow night." He said.
"Liddy Walsh?" Samuel said. "Haleyville, that's close." Dean said. "I mean, yeah, it's about three miles, but..." Samuel said then he looks over at Deanna, who leaning on the door jamb, and she shakes her head slightly at the whole story. Samuel looks back at Dean, who sees that they don't believe him.
"I know you guys think I'm crazy." Dean said. "You seem like a really nice kid, Dean, but yeah, you're crazy." Samuel said and Dean looks between Samuel, Deanna and (f/n). "Yeah, maybe, but I know where this bastard's gonna be, and I'm gonna stop it, once and for all." Dean growls and he takes the journal and walks out of the room.
Mary was sitting in her room, listening to music, when Dean comes up. "I'm shoving off. I just wanted to say, bye." He said and she turns to him. "Really? So soon?" She asked. "Yeah – job to do." Dean said then he stops for a moment then looks back at her. "Hey, I wanted to – to tell you, you know for what it's worth. Um...it doesn't matter what your Dad thinks, I like that John kid." He said and Mary smiles.
"You do?" she asked. "Yeah. Yeah, I think you two are meant to be." He said before mutter, softly. "Hell, I'm depending on it."
"What?" Mary asked and Dean looks back at her. "Nothing. Um, can I ask you a question?" He asked and Mary nods. "What's he like? John." Dean asked. "Why do you ask?" Mary asked him. "Just curious." Dean said and Mary thinks for a moment. "I don't know. He's sweet, kind. Even after the war, after everything, he still believes in happily ever after, you know? He's everything a hunter isn't." She said. "No offense." She adds.
"No, none taken." Dean said
"Can I tell you something?" she asked and Dean nods. "He's gonna ask me to marry him. Tomorrow, I think!" She said, smiling. "Yeah?" Dean said, surprised. "Oh, Dad's gonna explode, but I don't care. I'll run away if I have to, I just…I love John, and..." she said, smiling, before she stops.
"And what?" he asked. "I wanna get out. This job, this life, I hate it. I want a family, I wanna be safe. You know the worst thing I can think of? The very worst thing? Is for my children to be raised into this like I was. No, I won't let it happen." Mary said and Dean blinks back tears. "Yeah..." he mutters.
"Hey, are you okay?" She asked him, worried. "Yeah, no, I'm – I'm fine. Hey, uh, Mary, can I tell you something?" He asked. "Sure." She said. "Even if this sounds really weird. Will you promise me that you will remember?" He asked. "Okay." She said, her eyebrow raised.
"On November 2nd, 1983, don't get out of bed. No matter what you hear, or what you see. Promise me you won't get out of bed." he said and she gives him a confused look. "Okay." she said as a tear runs down Dean's face. He smiles at Mary and leaves.
As Dean walks out, he sees the all too familiar motorcycle while (f/n) was standing by the bike. "Nice bike." Dean compliments and (f/n) looks over at him. "Thanks. Just got it." He said. "You a bike guy?"
"Me? No, no, just know a good bike when I see one...but...my girlfriend has the bike knowledge." Dean said. "Oh, got yourself a bad girl? Better watch out for them." (F/n) teased and Dean chuckles. "You have no idea." He said and (f/n) laughs. "Well, more power to ya, buddy."
"Speaking of girlfriends, how did that date, last night, go for you?" Dean asked and (f/n) smirks. "Honestly...it went amazingly. There's just...I don't know...something about her. I've only been with her for a few months and it's like...she was made for me. And...the more I spend time with her...the more I want to leave this hunting life behind." He replied then he turns to Dean. "Sounds insane, doesn't it?" (F/n) asked and Dean shrugs. "I'd say go for it. But then again, I know crazy talk." Dean said, smirking, and (f/n) laughs.
"Yeah, about that....you sure about it? What you said about the Colt and this...yellow eyed demon?" (F/n) asked him. "I've never been so sure in my life." Dean said and (f/n) looks down, sighs then looks back at him. "Well, if you need any help, have Mary call me." (F/n) said and he climbs on his bike and begins to start it.
"Hey (f/n)!" Dean said and the young man looks back at him with his familiar (e/c) eyes. "You take care. And keep your girlfriend safe, okay? Watch over her and make sure she's safe at all time." Dean warns and (f/n) looks him over before he nods. "I will." He said then he revves up the engine of the bike. "See you around, buddy." (F/n) said before he drives off.
Later that night, Dean is driving when Castiel appears next to him. Dean inhales sharply. "So what? God's my co-pilot, is that it?" He asked, annoyed. Castiel just looks at him, and Dean glances over again. "Well, you're a regular Chatty Cathy. Tell me something. Sam and (y/n) would have wanted in on this, why not bring them back?" Dean asked. "You had to do this alone, Dean." Castiel replied.
"And you don't care that Sam's tearing up the future looking for me right now? Or (y/n)?" Dean asked. "Sam's not looking for you and I told you (y/n) is asleep." Castiel said. "Alright, if I do this, then the family curse breaks, right? Mom and Dad live happily ever after, and – and, Sam and I grow up playing little league and chasing tail? (Y/n)'s parents could live? (Y/n) and I can have a normal life together?" Dean asked.
"You realize, if you do alter the future, your father, you, Sam, (y/n) – you'll never become hunters. And all those people you saved, they'll die." Castiel said. "I realize." Dean grumbles. "And you don't care?" Castiel asked. "Oh, I care. I care a lot, but these are my parents and (y/n)'s dad. I'm not gonna let them die again. I can't. No, not if I can stop it." Dean said then he looks over to the passenger seat, but Castiel is gone.
Dean is kneeling at a safe, from which he pulls out the Colt. A man, Daniel Elkins, appears with a shotgun pointed at Dean's back. "Hold it right there, friend. Drop the gun, be on your way." Daniel threatens. Dean pretends to lay the Colt on the top of the safe, but instead points it at Daniel. "Can't do it, Daniel." Dean said.
"Who the hell are you?" Daniel asked him. "A hunter, just like yourself." Dean tells him. "Thief's more like it." Daniel growls. "I just need it for a few days." Dean said to him. "Not happening, mister." said Daniel. "Look, I have a chance to save my family's lives. My family. But I need this gun to do it. So if you want to stop me? Kill me." Dean said and he lowers the Colt and walks slowly toward the door past Daniel.
Then he turns to look at Daniel, who begins to lower his gun. "There's some hunters in Lawrence, the Campbells." Dean said. "Never heard of them." Daniel said. "That's where she'll be." Dean said and he begins to leave.
Meanwhile, at the Campbell house, Mary and Samuel are sitting at the dining room table cleaning guns when Mary turns to her dad. "Dean say where he was going?" she asked. "Said he was gonna kill a demon." Samuel replied and Mary chuckles. "Kill a demon? That's impossible." She said. "Yep." He dad mutters.
"Where?" She asked. "Uh...oh, I don' know, over in Haleyville, uh, Walsh's maybe." He said, shrugging, and Mary looks up at him. "Wait, not Liddy Walsh?" She asked, worried. "Well, yeah, I- I- I think so." He stutters. "Dad, she's a friend of mine! We gotta help her." She exclaims as Deanna walks to the door of the room, and sees Mary getting up.
"What's wrong?" she asked. "I'll be in the car." Mary replied as she walks off. "Hey –" Deanna said but Samuel speaks up. "I mean, she wants to hunt, she doesn't want to hunt, is this some female time of month thing?" He asked and Deanna sighs and walks back into the other room. "What?" He asked, wondering what he said wrong.
At the Walsh house, Liddy is sitting on the sofa with Dr.Brown as he looks her over. "I'm sorry, Liddy, it's metastasized." He said to her. "Where?" Liddy asked. "His liver, his lungs. It's time we talked about arrangements." said Dr Brown. "No, you have to do something, Dr. Brown." She pleads and he looks at her.
"There is one way, a cure actually, but I'll need your help." he said. "What do I have to do?" she asked. "Nothing. Just in ten years, I'm going to come to you and ask for something then." he said. "What?" she asked him. "Nothing you'll miss." Dr. Brown says as his eyes turn yellow.
The door bursts open and Samuel enters then shoots Brown in the chest while Liddy screams. Brown's eyes open and Samuel cocks the shotgun again. Brown waves his hand and Samuel's shotgun flies across the room. Then Bornw waves his other hand and Samuel flies backwards and gets pinned to the wall behind him.
"Oh, God." Liddy exclaims. "Hold that thought." Brown said and he approaches Samuel. "You son of a bich." Samuel said. Brown leans in to Samuel, but turns around abruptly. Mary is standing behind him with a raised knife. He grabs Mary by the throat.
"Hello there." he greets S Mary slices him with the knife. "Where the hell have they been hiding you?" Brown asked as Mary keeps attacking. Brown grabs her arm and she drops the knife then she punches him. "I like you. You got a lot of spunk." Brown said and Mary kicks him. He grabs her leg, then slams her against a wall.
"Mary!" Samuel shouts and Dean bursts in with the Colt drawn. Brown pulls Mary in front of him as a shield. "Let her go!" Dean yells while Brown looks at Dean, shocked.
"Where'd you get that gun?" he asked and Dean cocks the Colt and nods to Mary, who breaks away from Brown. Black smoke pours from Brown's mouth and goes out a vent in the wall. "Damn..." Dean growls.
"Mary, what else did he say to you?" Dean asked Mary as they stand out on Liddy's yard. "I told you, just that he liked me." Mary said then she looks up at Dean with fear in her eyes. "What did he mean by that?" She asked, fearfully, as Samuel joins them on the lawn.
"Liddy's a strong kid, she'll be fine." Samuel said then he looks at Mary. "Are you okay?" He asked her. "No, Dad, I'm pretty far from okay. Can we go?" Mary said as she turns and walks to the truck. Samuel turns to Dean.
"Nice job in there." he said. "I missed the shot." Dean grumbles. "Take the compliment, son. I'm saying that I was wrong about you." Samuel said and Dean looks at him, then to the truck where Mary went, and looks back at Samuel, obviously upset. "We need to talk alone." He said.
"We have to kill this thing now, or Mary dies." Dean said after they make it to Campbell's house. "What? How do you know that?" Samuel asked and Dean pulls out John's journal. "I just do, okay?" He said.
"When?" Samuel asked. "I don't know, maybe today, probably years from now, but it's happening, trust me." Dean assures. "So what, are you some kind of a psychic now too?" Samuel asked. "No. Alright, listen to me." Dean said and he goes to the table and sits down next to Samuel.
"Now, this is gonna sound a little...actually it's gonna sound massively, massively crazy." Dean said. "Okay." Samuel said, unsure. "Mary is my mother." Dean said. "Excuse me?" Samuel asked.
"And I am your grandson, and I know what the hell I'm talking about." Dean said while Samuel looks at him in disbelief. "You wanna run that by me again, son?" He asked. "My real name is Dean Winchester. I was born January 24th, 1979. My parents are Mary and John Winchester." Dean admits while Samuel gives him a funny look.
"I don't have to listen to this." he grumbles as he starts to get up.. "Mary gets killed by a yellow eyed demon in 1983, and I think that this – what happened tonight – I think this is the moment that he caught her scent. Now, if we don't catch this thing now, and kill it, and it gets away? Then Mary dies. So I am asking you, please." Dean pleads to him.
Meanwhile, Mary runs up to John and throws herself into his arms. "Hey, you – you okay?" John asked her, worried. "You promised you'd take me away." She said, questioning. "Of course I did." John said. "Do it now." Mary said and John opens the door of his car. Mary climbs in, and he shuts it after her, looking concerned.
"How did I know about the Colt? Huh? How did I know about the Yellow Eyed Demon? Or where it would be? I'm not making this up, Samuel." Dean said as Samuel still looks at him. "Every bone in my body is aching to put you six feet under, but there's something about you – I can't shake it. Now, I may be crazier than you, son, but I believe you." Samuel said and Dean sighs with relief. "Thank you." He said.
"I mean, how do we find this bastard?" Samuel asked him. "Right here, the list." Dean said as he opens John's journal. "And with the Colt?" Samuel asked. Dean pulls the Colt out of his jacket and puts it on the table. "Yeah." Dean said. "Here, let me see it." Samuel asked.
Dean hesitates and then moves it further away from Samuel. "Sorry, I don't let anybody hold it." Dean said. "I'm your grandfather." Samuel said. "Nothing personal." Dean tells him. "Sure it is, especially when it's me you're trying to kill."  Samuel said and his eyes turn yellow. He raises his hand and the chair that Dean is sitting slams against the wall. Dean glares, but appears unable to move.
"Future boy, huh?" The Demon said as hewalks over to Dean. "I only know one thing that's got the juice to swing something like that. You must have friends in high places. So, I kill your Mommy? That's why you came all this way? To see little old me?" He asked. "Oh, I came here to kill you." Dean growls.
"Hey, wait a minute, if that slut Mary's your Mommy, are you...are you one of my psychic kids?" The demon asked and he leans in and sniffs Dean. "No, not you. Maybe you got a sis, or a bro. That's terrific, means it all worked out. After all, it's why I'm here." He said, smiling.
"So that's what this is about, these deals you're making. You don't want these people's souls." Dean said. "No, I just want their children. I'm here to choose the perfect parents, like your Mommy." The demon said. "Why her? Why any of them?" Dean asked. "Because they're strong." The demon said as Deanna peeks around the corner of the kitchen doorway and sees what is happening.
"They're pure, and they eat their Wheaties. My own little master race – they're ideal breeders." the demon said and Dean furrows his brow. "Oh, get your mind out of the gutter. No one's breeding with me. Though, Mary? Man, I'd like to make an exception. So far, she's my favorite." the demon said and Dean looks furious and tries to move, but can't.
Deanna watches from the next room. "So why make the deals?" Dean asked him. "I need permission." the demon said as Deanna comes quietly into the room. "I need to be invited, into their houses, I know, I know, the – the red tape'll drive you nuts, but in ten short years, it'll all be worth it. ‘Cause you know what I'm gonna do to your sibling? I'm gonna stand over their crib and I'm gonna bleed into their mouth. Demon blood is better than Ovaltine, vitamins, minerals – it makes you big and strong." The demon explains.
"For what? So they can lead your discount demon army? Is that your big plan?" Dean asked.  Please, my end game's a hell of a lot bigger than that kid." The demon scoffs. "End game? What end game?" Dean asked, confused. "Like I'm gonna tell you, or those angels sitting on your shoulder. No, I'm gonna cover my tracks good." The demon said.
"You can cover whatever the hell you want, but I'm still gonna kill you." Dean spat. "Right. Now that, I'd like to see." the demon laughs. "Maybe not today, but you look into my eyes, you son of a bitch, ‘cause I'm the one that kills you." Dean growls.
"So, you're gonna save everybody, is that right? Is that it? Well, I'll tell you one person that you're not gonna save." The demon takes out a knife. "Your Grandpappy." The demon said and he winks and plunges the knife into Samuel.
"No!" Dean and Deanna say at the same time. Then the demon  goes for Deanna, while Dean struggles to free himself. The demon sends Deanna flying and breaks her neck in the kitchen as she tries to crawl away. Dean grabs the Colt and rushes in to find her dead, and the demon gone. "Mary...Mary!" Dean shouts and he starts to run.
John and Mary were sitting in the Impala, which is parked next to a river. "I guess it's no secret why I brought you way out here." John said and Mary turns to him. "John –" she said but John continues. "I just – just let me get through this, okay?" He asked and Mary nods. "Okay, wait. There's things you don't know about me, John." She said.
"So?" John said and he opens the ring box and shows it to her. "I will always love you for exactly who you are." He said when there is a bang at the window.
"What did I tell you?" Samuel, still possessed, asked. "Dad!" Mary shouts. "Sir, just listen!" John said but Samuel pulls Mary out of the car. John gets out the other side.
"Ow! Dad! You're hurting me!" Mary shouts as John runs over and tries to pull Samuel off Mary. "Hey, take it easy!" John said and Samuel grabs John's head and wrenches it sideways, breaking his neck and killing him instantly.
"No!" Mary screams as John falls to the ground. Mary drops to her knees to cradle him. The demon kicks John's legs. "You killed him." Mary cries as she looks up at him. "Oh, not just John, sweetie-pie. Mommy and Daddy too." The demon said and he unzips his jacket to show Mary the knife wound in Samuel's stomach.
"No..." she cries, softly. "Yup, afraid so. You're little orphan Mary now." the demon sniggers. "You son of a bitch!" Mary growls. "Oh, sticks and stones may break my bones, and they won't bring your family back either." The demon said. "I'll kill you, I swear to God." Mary spat. "Oh, let's not get nasty." The demon said and he sits down next to Mary.
"Now look, we both said some things that we regret. Let's, um...kiss and make up." the demon said while Mary is crying and holding John. "I'll tell you what, I'll arrange to have lover boy here brought back breathing." the demon said and Mary looks over at him.
"My parents too?" she asked. "Nope, sorry doll, that's not on the table. But, think about it, you could be done with hunting forever. The white picket fence, station wagon, couple of kids, no more monsters or fear. I'll make sure of it." said the demon. "What? And all it costs is my soul?" Mary asked him, scoffing. "Oh, no, you can keep your soul, I just need permission." The demon said. "For what?" She asked. "Mmm, in ten years I need to swing by your house for a little something, that's all." The demon said.
"For what?!" Mary asked, angrily. "Relax. As long as I'm not interrupted, nobody gets hurt, I promise. Or you can spend the rest of your life, desperate and alone." The demon said while Mary is sobbing. "Mary? It's a good deal. So what do you say?" The demon asked.
Dean drives up and sees demon kissing Mary and he gets out of the car. "No!" Dean shouts and he rushes forward with the Colt drawn. Before he can shoot, black smoke flows from Samuel's mouth and John comes back to life. "Mary?" John asked and Mary sobs with relief. "John." She said.
Castiel appears beside Dean and places a hand on his shoulder. When Mary looks up from John, Dean is gone and Samuel lies dead on the ground.
Dean was asleep in bed until gasps and wakes up. Castiel is standing near the foot of the bed. "I couldn't stop any of it. She still made the deal. She still died in the nursery, didn't she?" Dean asked as he sits up and Castiel nods. "W-What about (f/n)? Him and (m/n)? I need to..." Dean said but Castiel shakes his head. "They still die. (F/n) was in an accident a month after that. (M/n) made a deal with Azazel to save (f/n)." Castiel informs and Dean looks down, defeated.
"Don't be too hard on yourself. You couldn't have stopped it." Castiel said and Dean stands up. "What?" he asked. "Destiny can't be changed, Dean. All roads lead to the same destination." Castiel said. "Then why'd you send me back?" Dean asked, angrily. "For the truth. Now you know everything we do." Castiel said.
"What the hell are you talking about?" Dean asked and  Castiel looks at the other bed, which hasn't been slept in, and Dean follows his gaze.
"Where's Sam?" Dean asked. "We know what Azazel did to your brother and your girlfriend. What we don't know is why – what his endgame is. He went to great lengths to cover that up." Castiel said.
"Where's Sam?" Dean asked. "425 Waterman." Castiel replied and Dean grabs his keys and his jacket. "You brother is headed down a dangerous road, Dean, and we're not sure where it leads. So stop it. Or we will." Castiel said and he disappears.
"Dean?" A voice asked and Dean turns to see (y/n) waking up. "You okay?" She asked, worried. "Get up, we've got to go." He said and she sits up. "What's wrong?" She asked. "It's Sam." He replied as he puts his boots on and (y/n) looks over to the other bed and sees Sam is gone.
"Where's Sam?" She asked, worried, and Dean gives her a look. "425 Waterman." He replies. "How do you know that." She asked. "It's a long story but we need to go now." He said and (y/n), quickly, gets up and changes.
