There’s no life after you. | Dean Winchester x Reader (one-shot)
Summary: Dean felt like he had no other option than to push [Y/N] out of his life completely. When he and Sam find a case in her hometown, he’s hit with all of the emotions he’d tried for so long to bury.
Warnings: swearing, mild-angst, mostly sadness and ending with fluff.
Pairing: Dean Winchester x Reader
Flashbacks are in bold.
Tumblr media
Dean and Sam had found a case in Reno, Nevada—a city that had a lot of memories particularly for the older Winchester. Sure they’d worked a dozen or more cases around here over the years but that wasn’t the type of memories that kept playing on his mind. He only wished it was that simple. Sam had opted to take the backseat, needing some extra rest on the drive and Dean usually drove his precious ‘67 impala anyway. Ever since they’d found this case, the eldest Winchester was uneasy. Not because it was anything special, from the details online it seemed like it was just another vamps nest—maybe even just a handful travelling together.
No, what began to plague his mind was something that cut much deeper than that. All he could think about was you.
It had been roughly two years since he’d last seen you. Every other second of the last year and half had been him fighting the urge to reach out, knowing two things for certain. One: you’d be far better off without him holding you down. Two: even if that wasn’t the case, he’d really hurt you the last time you spoke and despite how much he missed you.. you’d likely never speak to him again—but that’s what he’d wanted right? You to move on, you to live a life that wasn’t plagued by the dangers of all things supernatural. Find a good man, a normal man, settle down.. get married and have kids. Not have to worry about tending to someone who had spent his entire life broken. Shaking his head to try and rid himself of these thoughts, it seemed the universe had other plans.
It seemed at some point in the drive his playlist had changed and delved into the ‘divorced dad rock’ side of things—the first few notes of what he recognized as a Daughtry song began to play. Seemingly just as they’d finally crossed the state lines into Nevada, the lyrics began..
“Ten miles from town and I just broke down, spitting out smoke on the side of the road. I’m out here alone, just trying to get home to tell you I was wrong but you already know. Believe me I won’t stop at nothing to see you so I’ve started running.”
Now Dean knew exactly what song this was and it damn sure wasn’t helping with his desperate need to stop thinking about you. He reached out to change the song but when the chorus hit, he stopped and his finger merely hovered above the button.
“All that I’m after is a life full of laughter, as long as I’m laughing with you—and I think that all that still matters is love ever after, after the life we’ve been through. ‘Cause I know there’s no life after you.”
It was as if the song was delivered down by the hand of God himself, which only made the ache in Dean’s heart that much worse. He’d been in pain ever since he left two years prior, but he had no right to be—he knew that. After all, the reason he didn’t have you by his side was because he left. It was because he walked away. Deeply he’d sigh as the next verse again would line up with the exact thought in his head.
“Last time we talked, the night that I walked burns like an iron in the back of my mind. I must have been high, to say you and I, weren’t meant to be and just wasting my time. Oh why did I ever doubt you? You know I would die here without you.”
Death had truly paled in comparison to how he felt seeing the look in your eyes. All of the pain, the hurt as he watched you break in front of his very eyes. You’d been together three years in total, but what you didn’t know—what he refused to tell you is that his worst fear was becoming a reality. Lucifer had threatened you in order to make Dean comply with his demand. He’d figured out the only way to get to the elder Winchester was through you, seeing as Lucifer himself needed Sam for his own personal vendettas. It wasn’t long after this that Dean knew he had to get as far away from you as possible. All the pain and suffering he’d endured in his lifetime would be nothing if your death was due to him. He couldn’t live with that and more importantly, you deserved more than that out of this life.
“All that I’m after is a life full of laughter, as long as I’m laughing with you—and I think that all that still matters is love ever after, after the life we’ve been through. ‘Cause I know there’s no life after you.”
Sam began to stir in the backseat, which he’s caught sight of through the rear view mirror and so Dean quickly changed the station. He’d use Metallica specifically to shift the mood before his brother woke up and started asking too many questions. Questions that Dean wouldn’t have the answers to and he was already battling his mind to keep it all at bay.
Gripping Baby’s wheel tightly in his hands, he’d continue to path to Reno. About fifteen minutes later was when Sam’s eyes actually opened. “Mornin’ sleeping beauty.” Dean said with a (fake) smile on his face. “Ha-ha, very funny. Wait.. how long was I out? Are we in Nevada already?” He asked, rubbing the sleep from his eyes and noting their desert-like surroundings. “I don’t know, hours Sammy. Yeah we’re in Nevada—about an hour or two ‘til Reno.” Just saying the name of the city was enough to have him nervous again. There was a brief bit of silence between the brothers, Sam had a thought on the tip of his tongue but he didn’t know whether he should say it. Dean’s eyes had fixated on the road ahead and he sensed that his younger brother was gonna bring it up—bring you up, he’d always really liked you. Besides that, he could always seem to tell when things were troubling Dean despite his best efforts to hide it. “You know you could-“ Sam started but knowing it was coming, the elder brother immediately shut it down. “Sam, don’t. Please. I can’t and you know that.” Dean’s voice was shaky and that let him know that he’d already been thinking about things far too long. “You’ve been thinking about it. I know you, man. You think I didn’t see the look on your face when I told you we had something in Reno?” He sighed, knowing that his older brother was struggling with this didn’t make him feel good but he also knew it was making Dean feel worse. “Sammy, please.. I don’t wanna talk about it anymore.”
Sam would shake his head but he let it go, rehashing this with Dean while he was attempting to drive wasn’t gonna end well for either of them. Not to mention an hour and a half of odd tension in such a small place wasn’t ideal either. Instead, the younger brother’s eyes averted from the front of the car altogether as he turned to gaze out the window next to him. Sighing partially in relief and partially from the lingering thoughts, Dean would fully place his attention on the road and on the directions to this particular motel. They needed to get in, solve this case and get out before he did something he’d been trying for quite some time not to do.
Surprisingly this case was a little more difficult to follow through on, these vampires were incredibly elusive and their nest wasn’t the easiest to find. However, after a couple days lingering around they finally located the nest and were able to kill the three vamps that had been killing the locals. As it had become part of the job, Sam and Dean went out to a local dive bar to celebrate the victory—but Dean was trying to do more than that. He was trying to drown the lingering thoughts of you with whiskey, swallowing the liquid and letting it gently burn his throat. This would end up having the opposite effect and only made him think of you more. Over the first hour and change the brothers spent at the bar, three separate girls tried to hit on Dean but he didn’t really pay them any mind. Around the two hour mark the elder of the brothers decided he needed some air, getting up and walking outside. Dragging his dominant hand over his face he was doing anything to cling to that last bit of pride that he had. You were better off and he knew that, but every day that had been lost it was eating at him slowly. He needed a distraction and so he walked over to his precious car, getting into the driver’s seat and sighing. One flick of the wrist and the lights would come on, the radio coming in clear as day: it was that goddamn song again.
“You and I, right or wrong, there’s no other one. After this time spent alone it’s hard to believe that a man with sight could be so blind, thinking about the better times.. must’ve been out of my mind. So I’m running back to tell you.”
Again it seemed like the universe had intervened and Dean Winchester was far too drunk to fight it. Tears threatened to spill from his eyes and right now, all that he needed was you. He opened up the driver’s side door and got out just to come face to face with Sam, who had been worried when he couldn’t locate his brother in the bar. “What is it Dean?” He asked, noting the emotional state it was clear he was in—confused but not entirely. It wasn’t like him to be so open with his emotions, but you’d helped him with that. “I need to see her, Sammy. I can’t do this anymore.” There was enough emotion in his voice for his younger brother to know what he meant. Nodding Sam would approach the driver’s side door. “I’m driving, we’re not risking it with you.” Dean normally would protest but right now? All he needed to do was get to you. It didn’t matter how, he just needed to fill the void that he’d put there himself.
“All that I’m after is a life full of laughter, without you god knows what I’d do.”
Dean’s eyes were technically gazing out the window, but that’s not what he saw. His mind was flashing different images in rotation—one happy memory with you followed up by something he’d done to chase your memory away after he’d run away.
“All that I’m after is a life full of laughter, as long as I’m laughing with you and I think that all that still matters is love ever after—after the life we’ve been through. I know there’s no life after you.”
It seemed fast, but it had probably been about thirty minutes of time that had passed. Not that you lived very far at all, if you were even still at the last address the Winchesters had for you—Sam took a longer route hoping that Dean would sober up a little more before talking with you. Anyone would be able to smell the whiskey on him at this moment, but his words needed to be coherent if there was any chance of you hearing him out. It seemed that he had sort of the same idea because even when the impala had pulled into the driveway, he just sat there. “What if she doesn’t wanna talk?” Dean asked, somber tone to his voice as his eyes remained fixated on the front door of what he hoped was still your home. Mind racing almost as fast as his heart. “Dean, if I know anything about [Y/N], she’ll at least listen—even if she’s incredibly pissed and still hurt.” Sam reassured his older brother. Dean sighed again, not wanting to waste another second and also wanting to see have some alcohol in his system for this conversation. Slowly he opened the passenger side door and stepped out onto the asphalt driveway. Gently closing the door, it had still alerted a dog inside the home who was barking just a little bit every couple of seconds. He carried himself up the few cement steps, turning to see the front door closer than ever. Now more memories of the last time he was here were coming back.
“Dean, please.. why are you doing this? You can’t possibly just have stopped loving me, that’s not..” Her sobs were breaking his heart but he knew this was something he had to do. “Why are you walking away from this? From us? After everything we’ve been through.. after the life we’ve built from the ground up.. you’re just throwing it all away.” She felt as if there was a fire in your chest, she’d been sobbing so intensely for what seemed like forever. Mascara and eyeliner were smudged and made a mess of the space underneath her eyes. “Say something, Dean—please.. why are you pushing me away? What did I do?!” Every word became far more intense and the actual words were hard to discern from the sobs. Dean had just been staring at the floor since the words left his mouth. Three years next to her and he never imagined this day would come, but if you died just so Lucifer could get one up on him? He’d never survive. He’d never be able to carry the weight of your death or your blood on his hands—so this was the only way you got to live a long and happy life without him putting you in harm’s way. “[Y/N/N] I.. I just don’t think we were meant to work out. I’m sorry, I just-“ he was cut off by her intense sobs hearing him saying it again. “Please Dean.. don’t do this.. whatever I did wrong, whatever’s not working we can fix it. Please..” She pleaded, voice already hoarse from the crying and the wailing. “Sweetheart you didn’t do anything wrong. It’s me, I’m just, not made out for this relationship stuff.” He’d barely lifted his gaze again to meet her own, but only for a second. Seeing her like that was too hard for his heart to bare. “Why Dean.. please.. it’s been three years. Three years of this and we can talk about it. Whatever it is we can move past it together, don’t you love me anymore?” She sobbed out, arms wrapped around her own chest as Dean looked up to her face and met her gaze one last time. “Honey, I’ll love you ‘til the day I die.” Sighing he turned to walk out the front door, closing it and never looking back. He couldn’t look—his heart had already shattered.
Now here he was again, roughly two years later, taking the last few steps to fully stand at your front door. Lifting his hand which had formed a loose fist, he’d knock three times upon the wooden material of the door. There was no answer and no sign that anyone was home other than the dog barking that he’d heard moments prior. Dean was about to turn and walk back down the pathway when he heard the doorknob turning after the lock clicked out of position. “Do you know how late it is, what do you nee—“ her eyes widened when she realized who had just knocked at her door. “D-Dean.. what are you..” she felt her bottom lip quivering. Dean could tell this was the last thing she’d ever thought would happen. “Hi, sweetheart. I-“ before he could get another word out of his mouth, he was met with a harsh slap to the side of his face. His eyes fell as he collected his thoughts, waiting before speaking again. “I deserve that. I deserve that and so much more. [Y/N/N] I’m so sorry.. I’m so fucking sorry.” He got out, not being able to look back up at her just yet. “You’ve got some kind of nerve showing up here, this late at night.. Dean you broke my heart and you stomped on it to boot. Why do you think after two whole years that I’d listen to whatever the hell you have to say?” It was obvious that there was sadness and hurt laced within her voice, more so than the anger she’s trying to push forward. Slowly his head tilted back into its usual position and his eyes found hers again. “I know there’s no life after you.” It was all he could say in that second and her expression softened, before she’d built the wall back up. “You came all the way to quote a Daughtry song?”
“No, I’m quoting that damn song because for the three days Sam and I have been in Reno I’ve heard it everywhere. My car, in a store, hell in my head—[Y/N] I’ve been trying every day since I left to push your memory from my mind. I wanted so badly to forget about you and know that you were free to have a normal life. I also know that I’ve got no right to stand on your doorstep telling you how much pain I’ve been in since the second I walked out this door two years ago when this whole fucking thing is my fault.” He paused, tears slowly falling as he tried to blink them away. “[Y/N] I was afraid. I was so afraid.. I couldn’t lose you like that-“ Again he was cut off but just by her words this time. “Dean you did lose me, you pushed me away—fuck you pushed me out of your life altogether. You’re absolutely correct, you don’t have any right to stand here talking about your pain. I didn’t eat, I barely slept, for weeks after you left. All I did was lay on that couch and sob. Endlessly. After I couldn’t physically sob any more I thought, there has to be some kind of monster or witch doing this and so I researched for weeks and still barely ate and slept only a fraction more. All I came up with was dead end after dead end and so I finally had to realize the truth.” She sobbed out, pausing to try and steady her own voice. “You chose to leave on your own.” She’d opened her mouth to continue talking but now it was his turn to sob out, which caught her completely off guard. “He made me feel like I had no other choice..”
Now you stood with a perplexed look on your face as tears were streaming down your cheeks. “What.. who-“ before the question could even fully leave her lips, the man she loved began to speak again. “Lucifer. He needed Sammy, you know all that one true vessel shit, so he couldn’t hurt me that way. He knew any threat he put to Sam wouldn’t stick because deep down I knew that Lucifer needed Sam alive and well to complete whatever sick and twisted plan he had thought out.” She felt both her heart and her stomach drop, figuring out exactly where this was going. “[Y/N] he said he’d kill you and not think twice. I couldn’t.. I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if you died all because I love you. I wouldn’t be able to breathe knowing that your death was my fault and I’d never get your blood off my hands.” His confidence had wavered, the alcohol mostly wearing off. You sighed, a silence falling over the two of you as you attempted to process what he’d just said. “Dean.. why didn’t you just talk to me? Tell me what he said and we could’ve talked about it.” She asked, the venom gone from her words and a sadness settling over them. “I was scared. I didn’t know how to admit that I was scared especially to you, I’m the one that was supposed to keep you safe. I know that’s not an excuse and I’m not trying to excuse me hurting you like I did—that image of you hugging yourself and crying the hardest I’d ever seen someone cry has haunted me all this time. I never wanna hurt anyone but I damn sure never wanted to hurt you.. at all—let alone like that..”
Again a silence fell between them, it felt like a lifetime between their words and the action she’d finally take. Stepping forward she used both of her hands to cup his face, both having glassy hues due to all the tears. “I forgive you, Dean.” She said almost in a whisper. He felt his heart racing and he eyes searched hers for any sign that this might not be true. Seconds felt like hours but he couldn’t find any sign of deception and instinctively, he plunged forward to connect his lips with her own. It had caught her off guard but she was returning the kiss with an explosion of passion. They chased the other’s lips in a back and forth motion until they both couldn’t breathe. After pushing the limit a little further they’d separate but remain forehead-to-forehead. “I know there’s no life after you.” She spoke in a soft tone before pulling Dean inside of her home and re-locking the door.

zoro loves to watch you clean. he likes to stay back with you while the others explore a new island, knowing that you like to take advantage of the time alone. he’ll make himself scarce to let you work in peace but he's always there, keeping you company.
sometimes he closes his eyes to rest, enjoying the comfortable silence of the empty ship, hearing only the sound of you humming or singing softly; although most often, all he does is watch. it doesn't really matter to him; so long as he's near you, he's content.
there’s something endearing to him about the way you zone out, moving from one thing to another as if all the chore work came naturally to you.
she’d make a perfect housewife, he thinks to himself, knowing full well that if he ever uttered those words aloud, you and your tiny frame would make sure he hurt (and that thought is only further proof to him that you would be).
he likes it most when you play your loud latin music and sing along to it, almost always sounding terribly though he's convinced if you bothered to try you'd sound like an angel.
you hold the broom like a mic, singing each syllable like you feel it in the depths of your soul and zoro wonders what the hell you could be singing about; he rarely asks anymore, knowing well enough that it'll likely be a feeling you've never actually felt before.
you're dramatic and loud and he's certain that you wouldn't act this foolishly around anyone else. something he couldn't be more thankful for.
"y aquí estoy rendida a tus pies." you drop to your knees in front of him and the swordsman raises a brow, silently wondering how long it'll take you to sweep the room this time.
"y sé que no hay nada que perder..." you stand, stepping closer to him and your hand rests on his cheek and he thinks it might take at least another ten minutes for you to be done.
"pensando en ti," you lean in close, your hand falling into his and all that's left on his mind is that he could kiss you for those next ten minutes instead.
but you pull away before your lips can touch, fingers slipping from his as you sing the next line. "hasta que no me dejes ir."
you sing the chorus as you twirl around the room, picking things up from the floor, your eyes meeting zoro's enough for him to know that this time the song is about a feeling you know.
"no quiero vivir sin tu amor jamás..." you take a seat on his lap, your legs on either side of him and zoro's hands find their place on your waist, deciding not to let you stand up again.
"what're you singing about this time?" he grunts, his thumbs drawing circles into your skin.
"nothing special. just loving you and needing you and never wanting to let you go..." you say, pressing kisses to his face between every few words.
"what was that last line?" zoro questions, somehow knowing that whatever it was, you'd left it out. a part of him thinks he deserves a nice little treat for the spanish he's inadvertently learned from you.
you think about the line for a moment before translating it, "i don't want to live without your love, not ever."
and there's something left hanging in the air when you've said it. a twinkle of uncertainty in your eyes. something left unspoken.
"you won't."
it's the kind of oath that is rooted in regret. the kind that feels certain — set in stone, despite the impossibility of it. like he's promising you the stars and there's nothing you can do but believe him. it's not up to him whether you get to be at his side forever or not, but you believe it when he says you will.
"i missed you a lot." you can't help but say it and it feels pointless to mention, but you can’t put it out of your mind either. those two years taught you what eternity can feel like.
"i know," zoro’s lips brush yours without kissing you. instead, you feel his breath, the warmth coming from his body, and you wish you could get to know a different kind of eternity with him. closing the gap between you and him, you think this is the next best thing — the little taste of eternity on his lips.
"‘m going to love you for a long, long time…"
zoro doesn’t mean for the words to come off as romantic, doesn’t intend for them to make your heartbeat stutter, and you know that as well as you know him but they do regardless. the swordsman doesn’t even realize the sweetness of his blunt sincerity and you couldn’t love him more for it.
“i love you,” you utter the words in a faint whisper, pressing another gentle kiss to his lips before resting your head on his chest and listening to the music still playing. you could sit there in his arms forever, you think, until a familiar rapid beat meets your ears.
"da-ddy yan-keh..."
and zoro doesn’t fight it when you leave the warmth of his arms to dance again. he still has an eternity to hold you and to love you, anyway.

she's just too soft for all of it
Tumblr media
steve harrington x fem!soccer player
word count: [2.2K]
warnings: warnings: no use of y/n, established relationship, mentions of reader being tough / mean to her teammates, cursing, fluff, stevie being a supportive bf, flirty steve & an even more flirty reader
summary: you're captain of hawkins soccer team, known for being a bit tough on your girls but stevie knows you're not a meanie -- you're really just too soft for all of it... or at least when it comes to him.
Tumblr media
“Get it to-fucking-gether, Jackie! You’re fucking up the momentum.”
Your hands clapped sharply against each other, chest rising in order to catch your breath from the last play. But in that same breath, not wasting the precious time out using it to rally your teammates together.
It had been a brutal first half of the game, and the pressure was on. Everything was on the line for the chance to qualify for nationals and win it big for Hawkins High. It wasn’t the best performance all around for you or your team, but you were determined to get everyone on the same page in order to walk off the field victorious.
“Is she always this mean?” Dustin muttered, nudging Steve with his elbow.
Front row in the stands sat your boyfriend and your supportive friends. The home crowd surrounding them, keeping their eyes and ears peeled, trying to get a glimmer of what the captain had been shouting in the huddle.
For the people farther in the back they could only make out a few words over the noise and by your facial expression alone, they could you weren’t being the nicest — when it came to this type of pressure, there was no room to play nice captain anymore.
It was time to toughen your girls up and light the fire under their ass to get it together.
“Listen to me, we all need to start pulling our fucking weight! Pay attention to the goddamn ball and for fuck sake don’t let them slip you up!”
Steve didn’t tear his eyes away from you, watching as you tightened your ponytail with a snug pull before gesturing your hands towards the field, eyes darting between each of your teammates as you told them what worked during that last play and what needed to change.
He nudged the young boy back, eyes still on you as he shook his head, “She’s not being mean. She’s just doing what she has to do to get everyone on track.”
Sure, Steve wasn’t the basketball captain for long nor was he ever the leader that you were, but he knew a thing or two about getting everyone’s head in the game. Truth be told, Steve thought it was pretty cute when you asked him for a little advice to help you be the best captain you could be for your team.
He surely didn’t tell you to go cursing like a sailor….that was all you. But he loved it — it showed how passionate you were and how much you wanted this not only for yourself but for the entire team.
The red head Max butted in, poking at Dustin’s cheeks, “You can’t handle a little profanity? You know she’s a softie at heart. She never speaks to anyone like that when she isn’t on the field.”
Steve grinned, chuckling at the banter from the kids, something about the boys always getting cursed at but never El and Max because they were you favorites — he knew it was true, but it was fun hearing the girls pretend like they didn’t know it.
Mike scoffed, turning his attention back onto the field. “I don’t know why we’re even having this conversation right now when the only person she’s ever going to be soft for is Steve.”
“Maybe if you didn’t ditch your girlfriend for some stupid board game, my girl wouldn’t have to curse you out for being such a douche bag.” Steve reminded half-jokingly.
Laughter filled the already noisy bench until they heard a chorus of claps.
“Don’t fuck this up! If we can make this play, then we can take it home, got it?”
He watched as you patted the girls’ backs, shooting each of them a tight smile that others would read as passive aggressive, but it was far from that. It was stern yet loving, encouraging and sure that whatever was going to happen next was going to be okay — that you were proud of all of them for their hard work and there was always going to be a next time.
There was a harshness to you when it came to the sport you loved, but it was all for the greater good of making your teammates better and ensuring you always left the field winners in your heart…even if you didn’t get the score.
“Got it!” The girls all chorused around you before you all jogged back onto the field.
“C’mon baby,” Steve murmured to himself, elbows resting on his knees as he zeroed in on the game, leaning closer to make sure he didn’t miss a single second of it.
Green jerseys got into position, but the only one Steve was paying attention to was you. Even from your side profile, he can tell you still had that crease between your brows and your eyes were staring daggers through the opposing team.
Games days were intense ones, no matter if they were away or at home. You took each game seriously and nothing was going to throw off your focus, not even him, which is why he never took it personally when you didn’t wave hello to him when he and your friends arrived.
Still, he never missed out an opportunity to hoot from the sidelines as you warmed up, whistling a “That’s my baby!” every time you drove the ball into the net.
Even with your game mode on, he could see the smile and blush creeping up on your face followed by the giggles of the rest of your teammates teasing you.
But there was a sort of guilty pleasure that he felt when you were riled up and in the zone. It was the complete opposite of who you were when you weren’t on the field.
Off the field, you were the sweetest girl he’d ever known, so gentle and easy going. But out here, there was a completely different side to you, almost animalistic, stalking your prey, doing everything in your will power to tear them apart.
Was it bad that he wished he got to see that side of you more often than not?
“Let’s go, girls!” You shouted, nodding your head to yourself as the game resumed.
The brisk air floated across your skin while your feet picked up the pace. Eyes darting in all directions of the field, watching the ball carefully. Cleats dribbling the ball, back and forth and side to side, just waiting for the right moment to strike.
“I’m open, Nat!” you called out, sliding away from one of the girls on the other team, as the ball made its way towards you before you could even finish the sentence.
Your lungs take in a deep breath, trying to stabilize the rush in your veins. The only thing you’re listening for are the commands of your teammates and the encouraging whispers coming from the boy on the bleachers.
Even in a moment like this, where time seems to freeze, you can still make out his hushed cheering, careful not to throw you off focus, but he won’t — never does. In fact, you feel like it’s some sort of superpower when you’re in the zone and can still feel him in your bones.
An out-of-body experience, as you take the opening right when you see it, not letting a second go to waste as you scurry to the right, keeping the ball close, but never far enough to let it get away. It’s only a millisecond later that you seize that exact moment, swinging your foot back as your girl’s watch yours.
And like that, you knew it was up to skill…but Steve knew yours never failed.
His body shot out of the bleachers with his fists held up high before the ball even made it fully into the net because in his bones he knew.
“That’s my girl!” He shouted loudly.
The crowd erupt with claps and cheers all around him as the whistle blew, and the refs held their arms up, signaling the victory.
“Oh, my god!”
You spun around, jumping up and down as you felt your teammates surround you with a hug. Kisses to cheeks and curses of victories screamed in the best way possible. You instantly searched for Jackie, swinging your arms around her neck as you hugged her tight.
“Sorry for being a bitch,” you whispered in her ear, as you felt her laugh against your neck, hugging you impossibly tighter, “Your bitchiness got my head in the game, so thank you.”
“Good game,” and “thank you for the opportunity,” were exchanged with the girls on the opposing team. Sure, you had stalked them like your prey, but at the end the one thing you all had in common was the love for the game. And for that, it meant a lot getting to share the field with anyone who loved it as much as you did.
Only then, when made your way back to the sidelines, did your waist meet the hands of your biggest fan. A giggle escaped your lips as screeched, being lifted off your feet with kisses pressed all over your sweaty cheeks with no care in the world.
“You did incredible.” Steve beamed, cupping your face in his hands and finally laying one on your lips.
Quickly you pressed back, relishing in the feeling of something this rewarding after a game like that, “I can’t believe I did it.”
It’s quite endearing to see you in such disbelief while he knew you would be able to do it from the get go. Your cheeks are flushed red with excitement and your eyes are still wide like how you’d been out on the field watching the ball shoot into the goal.
He can’t help but pepper away those feelings of disbelief, replacing it with laughter and squeals as he continues laying kisses all over your face.
“Well, believe baby, because you’re going to nationals, and you’re gonna kick ass…again!”
You don’t try to stop him no matter how sweaty you are — you’ve gotten too used to these kisses and receiving them after a big win is just as special as the ones he gives you on any other given day.
“Did my score look cool?” You sought when he finally pulls back to stare at you once more.
“The coolest ever.” He smirks, squeezing your waist.
Steve says that about every goal and intends to until the end of time because every kick is the coolest.
“I hope they got it on tape so I could watch it back.” You say, jutting your chin out to the videographer up top on the bleachers.
“Hmm, I hope they got your little pep talk, too.” Steve teases, voice lifting.
You pout, raising a weak fist that meets his shoulder with no impact. You know I hate having to be mean.”
“I know, but it’s cute. They all know you’re just doing it to get their head in the game.”
“Yeah, I know… but I could get my head somewhere else, too.”
It’s your turn to wiggle your brows with a smirk while Steve’s cheeks go pink with a wide smile appearing on his features. There was a never dull moment between you both, not after a win, and surely not even after a loss.
“You just scored a winning goal and you’re trying to get into my pants already?” He accuses, shaking his head with feign disbelief.
You shrug your shoulders, tightening your arms around his neck to bring you closer to him.
“What can I say? I’m ready to celebrate my way.”
“Am I just an object for you?”
“Yup, an object of my affection and love that is.”
You press a kiss to his lips, letting go of all the pent up pressure from the game and leaving all that toughness on the field. When you’re with Steve, there’s no need to act mean or tough — no need to worry about winning or losing.
There’s a sense of peace when it’s just you two together — even out here on the crowded field where everyone is ogling their sights on the Hawkins so called bitchy soccer captain who actually isn’t such a thing.
Steve brings himself to pull away, patting the small of your back. “Go celebrate with your team you minx then I’ll take you home and we can have our own little celebration kay?”
“On it.” You give him a stern nod, spinning out of his arms and back towards your teammates who are already whistling and teasing you about lover boy.
It isn’t much longer until you’re hoisted up on the shoulders of your teammates and a chant starting to ring through the air.
Steve knows that you’re a winner every day on this field and off — but he also knows he’s one too when you’re the one he gets to call his girl.

The Music In Me
Fandom: Ted Lasso
Pairing: Jamie Tartt x F!Reader
Summary: You and the AFC Richmond team go to a karaoke bar to celebrate a win.
A/N: phil dunster, pls serenade me. i beg.
Tumblr media
Your relationship with Jamie was fairly new. You were a photographer that Keeley hired to do some campaign shots of the team. Jamie made you laugh when it was time for his shots and the rest is history.
You two were definitely still in the honeymoon phase of the relationship. Something new and exciting. You thought being with a hotshot like Jamie would be difficult, with his fame and notoriety, but it wasn't. It was the complete opposite. He made things so easy. You enjoyed his company, he made you laugh, was considerate of your feelings. You felt seen and heard by him.
You were smitten and everyone can tell he felt the same.
"Cheers!" you holler with the Richmond boys, clinking your shot glasses and beers together. Jamie was the only one drinking water now, since Roy gave him a limit of two beers.
You down your shot and wince. Jamie snickers, "Strong?" he asks, offering you his water.
"Very," you gulp some of it down and hand it back to him, "Think I'm done for shots tonight."
Jamie nods, "Probably best. Don't want you completely plastered when we go up there," he points to the stage where Dani is getting ready to sing his song.
You look at him in surprise, "You signed us up?"
He nods, "Yup. I need everyone to know that me girl's got a voice of an angel."
You snort, "Think you're exaggerating a bit, babes, but it's fine. What song did you pick?"
He smirks at you, "You'll see."
_________________
You, Jamie, and the guys burst into hollers and whoops as Sam and Bumbercatch hop down from the stage after their rendition of "No Scrubs".
The emcee walks up and speaks into the mic, "Wow! That was surprisingly really well done. Anyway, next up we have," she pauses to look at the clipboard of names, "Jamie and Y/N!"
The boys are no cheering for you and Jamie as you stand and make your way to the stage. Jamie hops up first, offering his hand out to you to help you onto the platform.
You shyly smile at him as he guides you to one mic stand and he stands at the other. There's a a screen at the corner of the stage so you can see the words "Everything Has Changed by Taylor Swift ft. Ed Sheeran" appear.
You smile widely at Jamie and he gives you a wink. He knows you love to listen to Taylor Swift.
The acoustic guitar rang out from the speakers and the screen told you to get ready to sing in 3..2...1.
All I knew this morning when I woke Is I know something now, know something now I didn't before And all I've seen since 18 hours ago Is green eyes and freckles And your smile in the back of my mind making me feel like
You turn to Jamie smiling from ear to ear and he's looking at you like you hung up the stars in the sky.
I just wanna know you better Know you better, know you better now I just wanna know you better Know you better, know you better now
Jamie joins in and takes you a bit off guard,
I just wanna know you better Know you better, know you better now I just want to know you, know you, know you
The both of you go into the chorus and you stare at Jamie wide-eyed because you didn't know he sings so well. Sure you've heard him singing under his breath or humming, but never so loud and confident like this.
Then he goes into the next few lines and you just stare at him in awe. He moves closer to you, having you face him while he sings. He knows this song by heart because not once has he glanced at the screen as he serenades you. You're caught up in him that you forget to sing, jumping back into the chorus with him.
You two continue this song and dance. He twirls you around while singing with you and you do your best to keep up. Your heart and stomach are fluttering in the best way as he pulls you in as you both finish the last line of the song
All I know since yesterday Is everything has changed
The guys are absolutely losing their minds. It's clear none of them knew that Jamie could sing.
Jamie hops down from the stage, offering his hand again as you jump down as well. He kisses your temple and wraps and arm around your waist, guiding you back to the group while everyone applauds.
As you two reach them, the guys are patting you and Jamie on the shoulders.
"Bruv, how come you didn't tell us you can sing?!" Isaac asks in disbelief.
Jamie shrugs, "Not really important in football, is it?"
"Still. You got mad talent," Isaac says.
Dani chimes in, "A voice of an angel!"
You snort and nudge Jamie, "So much for showing me off. You took my spotlight," you say jokingly.
Jamie winces, "Sorry, babe."
You chuckle, shaking your head, "No, no it's fine. Really. I'm more upset at the fact you never sang around me like that before. You know you definitely have to sing more around me now, right?"
He grins at you, "Whatever you want, love," he kisses your cheek.

“You guys won’t believe who’s about to join us!” From where you were hiding behind the curtain, you heard the interviewer talk with the audience, already causing thunderous yelling from the fans watching the panel. “Y/N Y/L/N!”
You walked on the stage with a smile as you waved to the fans cheering for you. Sitting in high chairs right in the middle were the main cast of the Multiverse of Madness and, sitting a few feet from them, was the woman leading the interview. It was the last day of the event and the last panel your fiancée, Elizabeth, would have to attend. You had just left your last panel with some other castmates and you intended to wait for Elizabeth so you could walk to the last moment of the convention - the line for the autographs. After that, you were both free to go and you honestly couldn’t wait to get home and rest. You were sure your girlfriend felt the same way, although you both endured those three days with smiles and no complaints.
It has been an eventful convention, after all.
The ring on your finger was proof enough.
“Hi,” you greeted people when you were handed a microphone by someone who rushed behind the curtains and returned just as fast once their job was done. “I was just walking back from my panel and someone grabbed me, and now here I am,” you explained with a laugh while you shook the woman’s hand before turning around to wave at your colleagues.
“That’s because the fans can’t get enough of you!” The interviewer joked. “You should join us!”
“Oh, no!” You really didn’t want to spend more time answering questions and having to smile at the cameras. You were ready to be out of there. As much as you loved the fans' passion and their devotion, you needed a break from it so you wouldn’t lose your mind when it was time to sign some shirts and comic books. “I will just say ‘hi’ and I will be gone. You already have some amazing actors and actresses to ask some questions,” you added with a chuckle while pointing at your friends, who seemed to be just as happy as the fans were.
“You can answer some questions for me, I don’t mind,” Benedict spoke up into his microphone, drawing out some laughs and agreements while you rolled your eyes at him playfully. “I think you will love to answer the question someone just made,” he teased happily and a chorus of fans yelling and asking for you to do it was heard.
“Okay, fine,” you ended up saying with a sigh. “But only one question!” You warned while walking to stand behind your friends’ chairs. You didn’t want to risk sitting down and being there for the entire panel, so you leaned over with your forearm behind Benedict’s chair and smiled. “Hit me with the question, old man.”
“Fans want to know what are our plans for the summer,” he said.
“What are you doing this summer?” You decided to ask, actually interested in his answer. You guys didn’t usually get those mundane questions at the events and you were kind of tired of answering how hard the stunts you had to do were or what was your favorite scene to shoot.
“Nothing special,” Benedict replied with a shrug. “Just work and help my son with his homework.”
“That’s cute,” you told him.
“And you?”
“Uh, well,” you considered his question for a second. “You know what I think would be nice?”
“What?”
You raised your hand, showing off your engagement ring with a huge smile that took over your face. “I think a wedding in summer is a good idea, don’t you think?”
While the entire room erupted in screams, claps and whistles, you laughed and high-fived Benedict, who still didn’t have the time to congratulate you and Elizabeth on the engagement. You were interrupted, though, by a voice that you would recognize anywhere.
“Really?” You turned around in time to see Elizabeth looking at you with a quirked eyebrow and a tiny smirk that you almost missed. “A summer wedding?”
You nodded and crossed your arms to get in a more upright position since your back was already screaming in pain because of the uncomfortable position you were in. You held the microphone with one hand so you would be heard, but it was easy to forget everything else while you engaged in Elizabeth’s little teasing. “You don’t think that would be great? A nice beach, the sunset, bare feet on the sand… I think it sounds nice.”
You could see how her green eyes sparkled while you talked - just like you, she could see the humor of discussing your wedding plans as if they weren’t plans you were both making for yourselves. Neither of you knew how no one else had crept into your private life to find out about the secret relationship you held with Elizabeth for the past years, but you couldn’t be more grateful. It gave you both the time to get to know each other without pressure or without other people trying to poke your business. It also allowed your relationship to grow without being torn apart by people who didn’t even know you and, in the end, it allowed both you and Elizabeth to love each other fully.
And now you were discussing your wedding plans after Elizabeth proposed to you.
You had no idea what you did in your life to get so lucky, but you weren’t about to start asking questions either.
“I’m more of a spring wedding kind of girl,” Elizabeth ended up replying with a larger smile now.
“Why am I not surprised, garden girl?” You teased her lightly. “But you can’t be barefoot then.”
“Why do you want to be barefoot?” Your fiancée wondered with a shake of her head.
You shrugged. “I don’t know. Sounds comfortable.”
Elizabeth laughed freely at that and leaned over to place her hand on your arm without thinking about it. You knew people couldn’t exactly overthink the gesture as anything other than friendship, but you still threw her a discreet look as if asking Elizabeth if she remembered you weren’t alone. Her answer was to just squeeze your arm reassuring before letting go to turn back in her chair.
“The flowers look better during spring,” she added.
“What do you say, Benedict?” You turned to look at the man, who had been watching you both with a small content smile. “Spring or summer?”
“Oh, don’t put me in the fire like this,” he jokingly waved you off. “Winter, I don’t know.”
Everyone laughed at the man’s reply and you were already preparing yourself to say goodbye to the fans and walk out of the stage again when the interviewer decided to intervene to take control of the conversation again - even if she seemed happy to have the actors taking over for a while. “What about you, Elizabeth? What are your plans for the summer?”
“Well…” Elizabeth started but, before she said anything, you noticed that she turned her head back and your eyes met.
A quiet conversation took place and you were suddenly reminded about the conversation you both had at the hotel room the night before. You had just returned from a busy day with more panels and interviews, which only got a bit more chaotic after you announced you were engaged. Every fan, every reporter, every person wanted to ask you questions and find out more details about the woman that proposed to you. Elizabeth was feeling bad for letting you handle all of it on your own, even if you told her it was fine and you didn’t mind. You were great at using humor to avoid answering the questions you didn’t actually want to answer.
However, that made Elizabeth confess that she felt comfortable enough sharing your relationship with the rest of the world. You both agreed to let it happen. There wouldn’t be an Instagram post, or an official announcement made by your PR team, or a staged interview with practiced questions. It would just happen. You wouldn’t try to hide it and, eventually, people would put two and two together, and you just wouldn’t deny it.
So, after you nodded at her, Elizabeth finally answered the question with just a hint of humor: “Oh, I don’t know, yet. I will have to let you know if the wedding is happening in summer or spring now.”
Later, while you waited for the autograph line to be officially open, you saw that fans online were divided between thinking Elizabeth meant she was going to attend your wedding or wondering if Elizabeth was your mysterious fiancée. You had fun seeing the theories popping up and you even shared the best ones with Elizabeth, though you both kept the agreement to just don’t deny things if people asked. And fans had asked while you signed things, sure, but you just laughed and asked for their names to write it down, and that has been it.
Of course that, not denying it, started to inflame the rumors to the point where you couldn’t keep it under the rugs any longer. So, when your wedding finally took place - spring, because you wanted to see Elizabeth’s smile when she saw the flowers - you allowed all of your friends and family to post the pictures they took of the ceremony and the party afterward. Elizabeth didn’t use social media anymore, but you also didn’t post anything on your own Instagram other than the picture of your suitcases when you were taking a plane to your honeymoon. You lived the best month of your life with Elizabeth, so much so that you both decided to just extend your honeymoon for a while longer - and that’s how you ended up spending three months away from everything.
Once you came back, though, you had to face work again. There were a hundred requests for interviews with both of you and, after debating about it for a while, you decided the best course of action would be to give one single interview to finally get people out of your back. However, since Elizabeth suffered from severe anxiety, you offered to do it alone and get it done.
“I don’t think it’s fair,” Elizabeth had said when you suggested it.
“Babe, you know I’m way more comfortable doing those things than you are. Besides, I don’t mind doing it. I mean, the worst that can happen is someone asks a stupid question and I have to use humor to tell them to fuck off.” After saying that, you wiggled your eyebrows at her, raising your hand to show her your wedding band. “It worked pretty well for me last time.”
Elizabeth rolled her eyes, although the smile on her lips made it clear she found it as funny as you did. Even so, she leaned closer to you and sat on your lap, taking advantage of the fact that you were sitting with your back against the headboard. You let your hands rest on her naked thighs, your short nails running up and down her skin, going just under her sleeping shorts before going back to her knees. “Well, if you do that, I’m going to cook you anything you want to eat.”
You raised your eyebrows and smirked. “What if you’re all I want to eat?” You joked and, before Elizabeth could reply, you flipped you both over on the bed to pin her down. She yelped in surprise at first but she soon let out one of her loud laughs that always made you feel like the sun itself was smiling down at you.
That’s how you ended up, a week later, walking over the studio while waving at people until you reached Jimmy Fallon, who was waiting for you standing in front of his table with a huge grin. You leaned over to kiss his cheek, waved at people again, and you sat down at the chair he pointed. The conversation started lightly as usual. You had been interviewed by him before and it was usually a fun experience, so you weren’t nervous about it. Jimmy asked about your work, about upcoming projects, about the premier of your new Marvel movie, and he slowly found a way to approach the subject that everyone was dying to know about. He started by showing some pictures that were posted of your wedding, then he asked about how it started and you tried to keep your answers short and simple.
Once you got back home, Elizabeth had kept her promise of cooking you the best dinner ever and, even if all you wanted was to drag her to the bedroom, you thanked her with a kiss on her cheek and you sat down to eat.
You were lucky enough to have all your life to spend with her, after all.

Notes: This fic is in the growing pain collaboration with the awesome @napofamoon. Haven’t written this much in a long time and this really inspired me so thank you.
Warnings: shy!reader, rockstar!gyu, musician!reader, vocalist!reader, unprotected sex(don’t.), public sex, implied squirting, dom!gyu, light choking, mention of trauma.
Summary: When Beomgyu and his band meet yn at auditions in his hometown for an opener he finds he’s attracted to more than just her voice and insane guitar skills. Beomgyu makes it his mission to get her alone while on tour and really give her something to sing about. He fears she’s already his new favorite.
Sometimes you think you do a little too much trying to justify your hopes and dreams. Maybe it’s the trauma, the copious amounts of coffee or the fact that you have not shut the fuck up since you discovered your ability to talk and sing. You pant as you wipe down the tables of the diner in preparation to close shop as your coworker, Mark, laughs at the way you hastily switch from table to table.
You had an audition to get to early in the morning and after classes you only had a thirty minute gap to rehearse your song before you had to clock in for the lunch rush.
“Excited for auditions tomorrow?” You crack a smile at him and give a shrug.
“I hope it goes well. Apparently the lead singer, Beomgyu, is super picky so there’s a chance I won’t make it past the first note.” Your stomach plummets at the thought but you chuckle to alleviate your apprehension. Mark rolls his eyes as he pulls out a chair to sit on to give you his undivided attention.
“You release good music and people listen. You’re gonna kick ass yn.” He encourages sincerely.
You smile at the boy shyly and nod.
“Thank you. That means a lot.”
“Of course. Don’t forget me when you're famous.” He quips, rising up from the chair before he pushes it back in.
“Forget you? Never that.”
Mark’s stomach drops at your words but he shakes it off, playfully shoving you before urging you to go home. You insist on staying to close with him but he denies you the pleasure when he snatches the rag from your hands.
-
You carefully cross the busy street of the city as you look around constantly, anxious that you might be in the wrong place but your doubts are put to rest when you see the line outside of the exact building you suspected. The people in the line converse while fans are occasionally getting escorted out for showing up in hopes to meet their heart throb of a boy band. You are wide eyed and curious at the things happening in front of you. Reality starts to set in as you realize you can’t mess this up.
Taking deep breaths is the way you choose to ground yourself as the line gets shorter and shorter until it is your turn to walk on the stage where a table is set up with three of the members sitting with varying expressions. You make a note to yourself to not make eye contact or hold it too long but before you can take your own advice your eyes lock with one of them in particular. He’s dark eyed and his hair is cut to a length that frames his face so beautifully. He smirks as his eyes examine you from head to toe.
“Contestant 7Z please set up your equipment and introduce yourself when you are done.”
You are brought back from your trance at the sound of the man who sits next to the one you were shamelessly drooling over before you begin setting up your electric guitar swiftly. You strum a few times to ensure it is in tune. When that is done with , you put your soundboard on the stand before standing up straight in front of the mic with a wide smile decorating your beautiful face.
“Hi, my name is yn. Hope you enjoy my sound.”
Your fingers begin picking at your strings as you nod your head to the sound before moving over to your soundboard and picking the bass option and singing your first note confidently into the mic. Your performance is not yet interrupted so you continue singing verse to verse and chorus to chorus until you get to the last line and stop your soundboard before playing the last chord.
“Thank you.” You say softly before stepping back and letting out a breath you didn’t know you were holding. Disconnecting your equipment from the jack hastily you zip your guitar back into its case.
“Yn please make your way to one of the seats in the auditorium.” Beomgyu speaks loudly. Your eyes meet his again when he smiles promptly and leans in to whisper something in his bandmates ear, all while keeping eye contact with you. Your stomach turns as you walk down the steps and find a seat. Keeping an eye on the fact that no one else has made an appearance on the stage for the past thirty minutes has you gaslighting yourself into believing that you passed the audition. That or the lead singer is fucking with you and not in the way you would prefer. You stare down at your feet and pout at your anxious state before a shadow looms over your figure and you look up to be greeted with Beomgyu. He startled you and there’s no way you were subtle about the fact.
He chuckles, “ I really liked your song. Best one we’ve heard all day.”
“T-thank you.”
I am going to go home and bury myself in the deepest hole ever.
You think to yourself but if anything it draws Beomgyu in. Who would have thought the girl that can shred on the guitar is so modest with the way she carries herself. You know you’re good but you don’t gloat about it. You seem a little shy too but he doesn’t want to assume since he hasn't gotten the chance to know you yet.
“That being said. It’ll be a pleasure to have you on the road with us.” He leans in closer as his voice lowers to a whisper. Your eyes drop to his lips that he bites down on, attempting to hide his smirk. He’s flirting. He has to be. Your thighs squeeze together at how close he is to you. His skin shines in the auditorium light and you’re quickly realizing you would peel back all your morals if he asked you to.
“Is that a yes, darling?”
“Yeah I’d like that.” You nod and answer softly.
“Good.” He leans in more, making your lips slightly graze his and your pussy jumps at the gesture and Beomgyu’s rationale has flown out the window at this point as he presses his lips to yours gently. He’s testing the waters by trying to be gentle although he wants to bend you over the auditorium chair and make a mess of it. Your body responds late as you didn’t expect to have him on you this soon. Your hand has a mind of it’s own when it finds the way to his long tendrils to tug on them slightly, eliciting a groan from him that vibrates through your whole being.
“Hey! Beomgyu stop eating our opener please?” A voice booms. Beomgyu looks back at his bandmate and smiles mischievously.
“Can’t make any promises!” He shouts back with a wink before turning to face you again.
“Come with me will you?” Beomgyu asks, holds out a tempting hand
All while flustered you nod and take his hand before you are dragged to god-knows-where.
-
You swear your skin is hot as asphalt as Beomgyu kisses every inch of exposed skin he can find before his lips meet yours again and your hands are finding their way under his shirt. His skin is as soft as you imagined and the thought makes you moan into his mouth before you can stop it.
“Fuck. I love your pretty noises.” His hands palm at your tits and your body is leaning into his touch and your questioning what has gotten into you to make you act this way.
“I don-I don’t usually do this.” You say between each of his lustful kisses that fall onto your lips.
“Do what, Pretty?” His voice has your panties soaked and you can’t help but let out a giggle.
“We just met and I’m considering letting you- ya know.” You shy away from saying the term and his eyes that burn holes into you. You know after tonight you won’t be able to mix business with pleasure so the pros seem to be outweighing the cons.
“Stop thinking so much. Do what you think is right. We can stop whenever. Do you want me to stop, Darling?” He tilts his head. You shake your head. Not trusting your voice to not waver.
“You're so quiet. Let’s fix that.” He says lowering himself onto the floor of the bathroom stall, letting his head disappear beneath your skirt. Your teeth gnaw at your bottom lip in anticipation and you feel the rough pads of his fingers move your dampened panties to the side.
“You are soaked, pretty.”
You squeeze your eyes shut in embarrassment, maybe if you pray hard enough you’ll disappear into thin air. He blows onto your wet folds before wrapping his lips around your clit without warning causing your breath to hitch before your mouth falls open in pleasure. Your hands bunch up the frills of your skirt to give you a better view of the beautiful man devouring you like you're his last meal that he will ever have. Audible squeals are leaving your mouth as you try to force yourself to be quiet but Beomgyu finds entertainment in the fact that because of him you are struggling to keep your quiet and shy act going much longer.
“Want you so bad.” You moan out.
His eyes meet yours as he his mouth makes out with your clit and your hands frantically search for something to hold on to and before you have time to solve the issue yourself Beomgyu is lacing his fingers through yours as he sucks on your clit in the most perfect way. So perfect that it has your mouth falling open and your eyes rolling to the back of your head.
“Ungh yes right there! Mm-”
Your body is on the edge of finishing when he breaks away from your center and kisses your lips with your essence glistening on his lips and chin. It’s messy and in any other case you’d find it gross but here in this bathroom stall you want him to take his dick out and ravish you mercilessly.
“Taste so fucking good.” He whispers against your lips.
“Please.” You say, looking into his eyes.
“Please, what baby?” He smirks cockily.
“Fuck me, Gyu.”
He’s shocked at your words as you stare at him all docile and doe-eyed while speaking such vulgar words. Your hands trail down to the button of his ripped jeans and undo them slowly before following up with his zipper. You keep eye contact with him as the plush of your pink lips are gnawed on by his teeth. Your movements are slow and cautious as you stare at his face to gauge hiseaction.
You’re taken aback when he smacks your hand away and turns you around so your ass is facing him and your cheek is pressed to the cold wall of the stall.
“If that’s what you want.” He breathes out as he palms at his hard length. Letting his other hand touch your center slowly. You’re soaked and with every touch he’s becoming more and more full of pride that it’s because of him. His tip grazes you, testing the waters as he lets his length rub your clit as you hiss, sensitive from all his ministrations and you release a breath you didn't know you were holding when he enters you. Your whole body shivers in content as he starts thrusting into you at a brutal pace.
“Fuck, you’re so tight. Taking me so good.” His hand finds the back of your neck ,pushing you further into the cool wall, keeping a firm hold on you. You know you’re not gonna last long at this rate. You’re struggling to keep quiet as moans tumble out of your mouth.
“Does it feel good, baby?” He whispers, warm breath hitting your scorching skin.
“Yes-please right there-”
He gives a particularly rough thrust, eliciting a gasp from you as he leans forward to place a gentle kiss on your cheek. The gesture is quite romantic, out of bounds for the image you created for Beomgyu but you’re too far gone to dwell on it.
“Gyu, I’m gonna cum-” You whimper out, feeling tears form in your eyes.
Beomgyu tuts at your words, pulling out of you and flipping you around so you’re facing him now. His lips capture yours in a rough kiss as he lifts you on the ground, guiding your legs to sit around his waist.
“Wanna see that pretty face when you cum.” He says, keeping intense eye contact that you attempt to stray away from but he realizes and he’s having none of it. His hand grabs your face firmly, getting the timing just right as he thrusts into you once again.
“Look at me. Or I’ll stop.” He’s stoic although he’s enjoying this more than you are. You, wet as can be as you hang around his neck like the finest diamond. Finer than any Cuban link that’s ever adorned his neck. You’re a moaning, squelching mess and he knows you're close as you struggle to keep your eyes open.
“T-too much-fuck,Gyu don’t stop.” Your eyes roll back in ecstasy and his thrusts become more brutal as he’s determined to give you what you’ve been waiting for.
“Nuh-uh eyes on me, he adjusts your gaze with his hand again. Your fucked put face bringing him to his end as he puts his fingers in your mouth and fucks you roughly.
“I’m-right there, yeah.” You mumble around his fingers, body shivering.
“There?” He teases, knowing the answer.
“There!” You clench around him so beautifully as he watches moisture fall out of you onto the ground.
“Fuck baby.”
His hand that isn’t occupied toys with your clit as he pulls out of you to let his hand bring you to another dimension and that it does as you scream in pleasure and push his hand away from your center.
“Want me to stop?” He asks, searching your face.
“Yes-no-fuck. S’ just a lot.” You speak clearly when he removes his fingers from between your pretty lips. He smiles, drunk on you and your body. His new favorite. You.

hello! do u have any new music recommendations?
of course!!! going to throw some general pop/indie/rock/instrumental all over vibes at you? these are some of the ones that i've been having on repeat a lot lately because they bring something bright and fun into my days - hope you enjoy them !! 💛
if i'm honest (trousdale) – oh the absolute vibes of this one. the harmonies. the beat. the slow downs and build ups? that ending? it's like easy, slow, growing ease and joy. that point 3/4 of the ways through the song, that building of things? the payoff? those background horns? the drums? i cannot sit through it without some kind of air guitar / drums / chair dance type beat. it's too good that you cannot help it, it just goes so hard.
close one (fizz) – i have been writing so much love poetry to this song. it is soft and slow and serene like light, all golden hour, the soft golden hues of almost, of here, like this, with me? that little 'fuck it' before the chorus is so fun. this group is made of insanely popular individuals (dodie/orla gartland/greta isaac/martin luke brown???) and together .... they are so powerful. cannot wait to see what they create next !!
run (maisie peters) – there is such a fun vibe to this song. that line of the chorus, that 'i've been lied to / i've been cut and deleted / i've heard some things i will leave unrepeated' is sooooo good, that rhyme scheme that syllable count balance? it immediately went onto my writing playlist w/ that fun beat, that synth, that catchy repetition? the whole album this comes off of is so very good too, esp. 'the band and i'? i really enjoy her sound!!
like a brother (hey, nothing) – this song feels like a lullaby, in the way of being swung in a hammock? all late summer, early winter winds? but there is such a lyricism that gets stuck in my brain, the whole layout of the chorus and is just so soft. i feel so many things. another easy one for the poetry playlist.
margo (sally boy) – oh the orchestral, string opening? the easy flow of it, instrumental and light, before hitting that small bit of silence before the guitar and lyrics come in? and then the absolute hit that is the beat of the chorus hitting? obsessed. phenomenal. i love the balance of gentle, light instruments and the slow instruction of the drumbeat, it feels like a whole story that you can experience, the flow of it!
eightball girl (maddie zahm) – i can leave this song for a few days and then out of nowhere it'll just be in my head again, the vibes of it, that beat of the chorus? the layered voice effects? sometimes songs have this balance to them that my brain just sucks up like a sponge and this is one of them. soooo good. i'll be in the supermarket and my brain will just go eightball girllll, tell me how you feel about meeee and it's perfect.
snow angel (reneé rapp) – this was one of the first ones i found on my daylist that was just like, how did i go so long without you. how did i not know about you. and since then it's been a daily listen. the slow, gentle breeze of that beginning? there is such a rising and falling to this song, like seasons, like the breeze? all tide, all here and there and back again, all resilience and ferocity, softness and violence? that electric guitar and the piano and the feedback just makes me want to just. aaaaaaa. this whole album is just banger after banger too!!
grace (henrik) – it's so fun!!! it brings me so much joy and energy, the easy breezy pop vibes, it's so hopeful and gentle and loving. i have it set as my alarm rn because i really do think it'll last through the sisyphean task of getting me out of bed in the mornings, it just feels like sunlight.

Survive the first day. Should be easy right? The first few classes weren’t so bad, but you dreaded the lunch bell ringing.
11:05 am, the bell shrills.
“Well class I look forward to a successful year with you, see you all tomorrow.” Suddenly a sea of crimped hair and letterman’s jackets rushed out the classroom door before you even had the chance to get up. You followed the sounds of popping bubble gum and slamming lockers towards the cafeteria double doors. Unlucky you were stuck with school lunch. First day at a new school and you couldn’t even get a home lunch. To be fair, you were more concerned with getting all of your supplies together for the next day instead of packing a lunch last night but it’s not worth thinking about now.
You hopped in the lunch line behind some guys talking about the basketball game happening later that week. You ignored their conversation and made your way through the line. By the end of the line your lunch tray was less than exciting. A sandwich that probably had some nutritional value to it but it certainly didn’t look that way, chips, and a fruit punch juice pouch. Lunch is lunch you thought to yourself. Now released from the lunch line, you were faced with tables of clubs and social cliques. If you sat at the wrong table you could become a social pariah. Ideally, this wouldn’t happen.
You searched and scanned each table, finding who was gossiping and who was studying, then of course everyone in between. Somewhere in the middle you found a group of boys, they were loud and boisterous. From the table, a boy with shaggy brown hair looked up at you. His eyes locked in with yours. Everything around you slowed, his jaw shifted as if it were going to drop.
Something cold and wet splashed on your face. “Holy shit Carver no way, the new girl???” You looked down at your lunch try, the fruit punch was gone. Carver, you’re assuming, held the emptied pouch tightly in his fist. He and a few others stood in front of you laughing. Your purple blouse now soaked in the sugary beverage stuck to your skin.
“What? Did you think we wouldn’t have seen you staring at the freak table? Should have been paying attention, new girl.” Jason laughed at you. The entire cafeteria stared at you. Some of them murmuring, others laughing. You placed your tray gently on the table beside you.
“Yeah, I guess I should have.”
“So sad to see a new girl get punched on the first day isn’t it?” The crowd of letterman’s jackets chuckled in a chorus behind him.
“What’s your name?” You asked him. A roar of oooohs echoed behind him.
“Who wants to know? Hm? Little miss gawking at the freaks of Hawkins?” Jason’s hand came up beneath your chin, tilting your head upward. The boys giggled, mocking you with fake pouts plastered on their faces.
Anger erupted through your body, and without hesitation your fist flew upwards knocking into his jaw. The cafeteria fell silent, jaws and eyes wide as you peeled each knuckle from his face. “Touch me again and I will make sure you never lay a finger on someone ever again.” You huffed reaching for your lunch tray to walk out of the cafeteria. You turned to walk out of the double doors but were stopped by a loud cheering.
“HELL YEAH NEW GIRL.”
One voice shouted over the entire student body. The crowd watched as the shaggy haired boy sauntered over to you. The entire cafeteria turned their gaze to watch him approach.
“The hell do you want freak?” Jason sputtered out, wiping blood from his swelling lip. He ignored Jason, making a grand bowing gesture in front of you. The boy held out his hand and whipped his head up, “Eddie Munson, may I ask what name belongs to such a bold woman as you?”
“Oh, uhm,” you hesitated.
“A mystery it shall remain.” He smiled, standing upright again. “You may want to leave, mystery girl. School admin will be here any second.”
Shit. He was right. “Thank you,” you dropped the tray and pushed back the double doors. You didn’t hear them slam shut despite being halfway down the hall. So you turned to see Eddie and his shaggy hair chasing you down the hall.
“You- you didn’t- food mystery girl.” Eddie was out of breath. Food? He caught up to you, extending a pack of chips. “You didn’t get to eat. I figured if you’re going to end up here longer today, you know in detention, you probably need to eat.”
You grabbed the bag from his hands, “You didn’t have to do that, thank you, uhm, again.”
Eddie shook his head, “no need to thank me, I should be thanking you, actually.”
“What for?”
“Punching Jason. Nobody has ever really stood up to him successfully before. Nobody has ever done it in such a hot way either.”
“I- oh, we’ll be just,” Eddie had you flustered.
The cafeteria doors burst open again, both of you jumped turning backwards. Out stormed Jason, a couple of his teammates, and Ms. Kelly- the school guidance counselor.
“There she is Ms. Kelly, that’s the girl who punched me.”
Eddie turned to you and grabbed your hand. “Run, new girl, run.” The both of you ran hand in hand down the hall, out the front doors of Hawkins High. Your freedom was only temporary as more admin surrounded you both outside.
“Mr. Munson, I see you have a friend with you for detention today.”
“I do, a very pretty one at that.” He chuckled, beaming at you.
“I will see you both in the cafeteria at 3 o’clock sharp.”
Maybe your first day wasn’t so bad. After all, you did make a friend, or maybe something a little more.  Tags: @micheledawn1975 @ali-r3n @roxiehorrorshow @luumunson @sataniicsex

Note: THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVES! Yunho, Yeosang, Mingi, and Wooyoung’s are my absolute favorites. They’re the ones I really got immersed in while writing them and I just love the plots. I’m very proud of them 🥹

The North Pole was covered in snow, the usual weather for Santa's Headquarters. Large, fluffy snowflakes came down in a flurry, adding to the inches of white snow that blanketed the ground.
You were hard at work in the workshop, painting and assembling toys. Christmas was only a month away and it was crunch-time at Santa's workshop. Every elf was hard at work preparing for the upcoming holiday. The sound of hammers tapping and the low hum of the assembly line machines were the only thing that could be heard in the building as every elf stayed laser focused on their job.
Mingi, a new elf in training, walked across the workshop with a box of completed toys in his hands. He was heading to the room next door where the toys were being collected. As he proceeded towards his destination, his head collidided with the top of the doorframe, a thud sound following after. You instinctively winced at the sight. Mingi was always bumping his head on the doorway. Unlike other elves, he was rather tall and towered over everyone. The average height of elves was around five feet, Mingi was six feet tall.
You hated seeing him always hurting himself on the doorframe and wondered why no one had done anything about it. At this rate he would give himself a concussion if nothing was done about the low doorframe.
A chorus of chuckles from nearby elves could be heard after Mingi's little incident. You abruptly abandoned your work station and hurried after Mingi, calling for him. He turned around, looking down at you with bright eyes and an expectant expression.
"Are you okay?" You asked.
A soft smile spread across his face.
"I'm fine. Thanks, Y/n."
"You don't need an ice pack or something?"
He shook his head. "I'm kinda used to it."
You gave him a sympathetic look.
"You should get back to work. Christmas is coming soon." He told you.
“What about you?”
“I’ll be just fine.”
As much as you didn't want to, you turned around and hesitantly made your way back to your station, picking up where you left off.
It was difficult to focus. All you could think about was Mingi and the way everyone always laughed at him. It made you angry. There was no reason for it. He's an elf just like the rest of you.
Lunch was called and you were able to step away from your work and take a break. You congregated in the cafeteria with the other elves where you got a slice of extra sweet cake and a mug of hot chocolate. As you made your way to your seat, you overheard a few comments from some of your fellow workers.
"Did you see Mingi?" Chuckled one elf. "He bumped his head on the doorframe again. That klutz."
"He's such a giant, no wonder he's always hitting his head."
"He's a weirdo."
"He's a misfit."
"He doesn't belong here."
"He's not an elf, he's a giant."
The comments angered you immensely. Everything in you screamed to speak up and say something, but you fought it, pushing that urge down deep. You didn't want to start something and cause a scene. However, your temper got the best of you and pushed aside all reason. Your grip tightened on your mug of hot chocolate as you harshly spun around to face the chattering elves.
"That's not very jolly of you to be saying such hateful things about a fellow elf." You punctuated the last word. "Surely, you know Santa is fully aware of what you're saying now."
None of them said a word.
"That's what I thought." You huffed, turning away.
Santa knows everything and they still had the nerve to say such rude things about Mingi. It was shameful, really.
You then spotted Mingi sitting alone at the end of a table, rubbing his forehead. You immediately set your sights on him, making your way over without hesitation.
"Hi." You greeted, taking a seat across from him.
"Hi."
"How's your head?"
"It's okay." He reached up to lightly rub it again. “Hurts a little."
"I'm sure it does. Are you sure you don't want an ice pack?"
"I'm sure. Thank you, though. I appreciate you always checking up on me."
You smiled. "I just want to make sure you're alright."
"Thank you for that. It's nice to know someone cares."
"So, it's been a few weeks since you joined the team. How are things?"
"Good." He nodded with a smile. "Work is easier and more enjoyable than I though. Turns out I'm pretty good at assembling toys. I'm the fastest elf in my group." He beamed proudly.
"That's great to hear. It seems you're fitting in just fine."
"Well, almost."
"Almost?"
"In case you haven't noticed, I'm a whole foot taller than everyone here." He stated.
"I have noticed, but it doesn't bother me."
"It seems to bother everyone else. They all stare at me and whisper things."
"You just need to ignore them. They're not worth your time. Santa should give them more work since they seem to have time to make hateful comments about you for no reason." You huffed, feeling your temper rising again.
"What if I'm not a real elf?" Mingi asked unexpectedly, his tone weaker than before.
"What? That's nonsense. Of course you're a real elf."
"But what if I'm not? I clearly don't fit in."
You abruptly reached over and grabbed hold of his ear, giving it a good tug.
"Ow!" He yelped.
"Is that proof enough?" You inquired, quirking a brow.
"I guess so." He muttered, rubbing his ear with a pout.
"Mingi, you need to stop doubting yourself. You're an elf just like the rest of us."
"But I'm different."
"Unique." You corrected. "I think your height is your charming point."
"My charming point?" He asked, looking at you with round, glittering eyes.
"Yes. It's what makes you, you."
His face seemed to soften a bit after you told him that. He appreciated your words greatly, more than you would know. You and Santa seemed to be the only ones who treated him as an equal and not as some freak.
You stayed and kept Mingi company throughout lunch, sharing funny stories about past mishaps at the workshop. His heart fluttered in his chest whenever you laughed at your own story. The giggles spilling from your lips made Mingi feel light as air, and the way your eyes crinkled up when you smiled made him grin himself. Your happiness was contagious.
He was a bit of a slow eater and yet you stayed with him the whole time, which only made his growing attraction towards you bloom even more.
That night, you laid in bed staring at the ceiling. You really needed to get some rest, as you knew you'd need the energy for work the next day. Christmas was quickly approaching and everyone needed to be at peak performance, but you couldn't seem to stop thinking about Mingi. Yes, he could just duck to get through the doorway, but that's an inconvenience, plus he seems to forget how short the doorways are.
Unable to sleep, you threw the covers off and changed into your uniform, hurrying out of your room. With a mission on your mind, you trekked through the snow and to the workshop, making your way up the large staircase that led to Santa's office. You gave a soft knock on the oak wood doors and waited for an answer.
"Come in." A voice bellowed from the other side.
You slowly twisted the doorknob and stepped into the room.
"Y/n, what on earth are you doing here? It's nearly 1 AM.”
"I could ask you same thing." You chuckled.
"Oh, you know, checking it once, checking it twice." He responded with a smile as he glanced down at the long list that stretched across his desk and spilled onto floor. "But seriously, what are you doing awake at this hour?”
"I couldn't sleep, sir." You answered honestly.
"Why is that?" He inquired, concern lacing his warm voice.
"It's Mingi. He's always bumping his head on the doorframe in the workshop that leads to the stock room." You informed him.
"Oh no." He frowned.
"It pains me to keep seeing him hit his head, so I was wondering if I could make some adjustments to the doorframe."
"I'm sure I could make time to do it. You don't have to take that on all by yourself."
"Sir, with all due respect, I want to do it on my own. Plus, you're already very busy."
"Are you sure?" Santa asked.
"Yes. I can handle this."
"Very well."
"Thank you, sir."
"Of course. This is very nice of you, Y/n."
You gave him a soft smile before exiting his office, bounding down the stairs, and hurrying over to your work station, grabbing an armful of tools. There was no time to waste.
Mingi got out of his bed that was thankfully the right size for him. Santa was kind enough to make some accommodations for him like getting a larger bed and furniture so he could. The elf stretched his stiff muscles before shuffling over to his closet to grab his uniform.
He made his short commute across the small North Pole village, trudging through the large amount of snow that was constantly covering the ground. He stepped into the workshop, ready to start his day. To his surprise, the shop was completely empty. Mingi simply brushed it off, going to his work station where he found a box of toys that he forgot to put into the stock room the day before. He lifted the box and carried it across the shop. As he passed the entryway to the stock room, he instinctively flinched, his head being thrust backwards by a phantom force.
The pain he had anticipated never arrived, causing him to stop for a moment and turn around to look at the doorway he just walked through. To his surprise, it appeared to be reconstructed and there was now a circular head shape at the top of the doorway.
Mingi was quick to set the box of toys down, hurrying back into the workshop where elves were starting to come in to begin their work day. His eyes searched desperately, wanting to find out who had done this. His first thought was Santa. He was about to head up to the big man's office when he spotted you asleep at your work station, tools strewn across the desk. As he moved closer, he noticed sawdust all over your work space, your clothes, and even stuck in your hair.
A fond smile painted Mingi's features as he gazed down at you, a warm and fuzzy feeling blossoming in his chest.
You did that for him?
You began to stir, which caused Mingi to scurry off, not wanting you to see him. Once he got to his work station, he watched you lift your head, your eyes going wide at the mess in front of you. He tried to hold back a chuckle as you scrambled to clean the sawdust off the tabletop, clearing your workspace of any tools and powdery wood particles.
He found it amusing how you went about your business after you tidied up, pretending that you weren't just snoozing at your work table amongst tools and sawdust.
His gaze drifted to the doorway that seemed to be attracting attention from some of the elves. Mingi could feel his cheeks warm as he looked at the newly-shaped doorway that was exactly the same size as him.
He would make sure to thank you later.
You yawned as you tinkered away on a toy. Running on little to no sleep had you working a little slower than usual, but knowing Mingi would no longer hurt himself put you at ease and, in a way, kept you going.
You worked until you felt someone's presence near you. Glancing up, you saw Mingi who stood by your station.
"Oh. Hi Mingi." You greeted with a smile.
"Do you have a minute?" He asked.
"Sure. Is something wrong?"
"I just wanna talk to you for a moment. Is that okay?"
"Of course."
Mingi led you outside to a nearby bench where the two of you could talk alone.
"I saw what you did for me." He said.
"Hm?" You furrowed your brows. "What do you mean?"
"The doorway. I know it was you."
"Me? No. I didn't do that."
"Y/n." Chuckled Mingi. "I saw you asleep at your workstation with sawdust all over you and tools everywhere."
You started to make up another excuse, but snapped your mouth shut after processing what Mingi said. You meant to clean up your workstation, but you were so tired you accidentally fell asleep.
"You don't have to pretend it wasn't you." He spoke softly.
"I wanted to stay anonymous."
"I would have figured out it was you, anyway. No one else would do that for me except you and Santa."
"Did you like it?" You asked.
He nodded with a smile. "It was really nice to be able to walk through a doorway normally."
"I'm glad. I hated seeing you hit your head all the time and it seemed like no one was going to do anything about it."
"I hated hitting my head too, and I always seem to forget to crouch down."
"Crouching down seems like an inconvenience."
"It is. I don't feel like I'm getting work done fast enough."
You nodded in understanding.
As the two of you sat, snow began to fall from the overcast sky above. You looked up, watching as the flakes got bigger.
"I still can't believe you worked all night to alter one doorframe for me." Mingi spoke up suddenly.
"You deserve it, Mingi." You told him.
"You have such a kind soul."
You couldn't stop the warmth that ticked your cheeks at his words. “I would change all the other doorframes for you in a heartbeat."
The elf beside you seemed to get flustered as he avoided eye contact with you for a moment. When he looked back at you, a heartwarming grin spread across his face.
"You're getting covered in snow." Mingi giggled.
"You are too."
"Why don't we go somewhere else? How about that gazebo over there?" He pointed to a nearby wooden pavilion with lights wrapped around the roof and railing.
"Good idea."
The two of you hurried through the flurries and under the gazebo, but as you stepped underneath the shelter, you heard a loud thud. Turning around, you saw Mingi wincing with his hand pressed to his forehead.
"Oh no." You frowned, watching as he ducked to get underneath the gazebo.
Thankfully, the roof was a hollow cone shape, so he was able to stand up properly when he got inside.
"I forgot." He muttered.
"Come here." You held your palms up towards Mingi's face, gesturing for him to move closer.
He bent down a little, allowing you to get on your tiptoes and grab his cheeks, pressing a soft kiss to his forehead.
His eyes widened, as his cheeks tinted pink, even the tips of his pointed ears held a blush-colored hue.
"Ah." You turned your head away. "Sorry. I don't know why—"
"It's okay." Mingi cut you off. "I... liked it."
"You did?"
He nodded, shyly.
You couldn't deny the fact that Mingi was a good-looking guy. In fact, he's the only elf that ever caught your eye, and it wasn't because of his height. He was stunning. You loved his eyes. They could be sharp at times, almost intimidating, but also innocent, big, and bright. You loved his lips too. They were full, pink, and when he concentrated really hard, very pouty. You'd be lying if you said you didn't think about how it would feel to kiss them.
Did he feel the same as you?
"So..." You trailed off, unsure of what to say next.
"I like you." Mingi blurted.
Your brows raised, not expecting him to come out with it so quickly.
"You're the only elf that's shown me kindness. Ever since I first showed up here, you made sure I was getting the hang of things and constantly asked if I needed help. Despite me being different, you still spoke to me and treated me like everyone else."
"That's because you are like everyone else. To me, you're not different. You're you."
Mingi's glossy eyes twinkled a bit when you said that. His large hands found yours, clasping onto them; you could feel them shaking—or maybe it was your own. You glanced down, seeing the way his hands swallowed yours whole. It made your heart leap in your chest.
"Can I kiss you?" Mingi asked tentatively.
"I thought you'd never ask." You chuckled.
Mingi bent down to get closer to your height as you stood straighter to get closer to his. Your hands rested on the sides of his face as the two of you leaned in, closing the space between you.
Mingi's lips felt exactly the way you thought they would, only 10 times better. They were pliant, soft, and oh-so gentle. He was kissing you so delicately, it made your heart swell. You could tell he was a little nervous about what he was doing, but so were you.
One of Mingi's large hands moved to cup the back of your neck, holding you in place as he  began to deepen the kiss.
You could feel your whole body heat up like fresh hot cocoa. The warmth sent a rush through you from head to toe as your hands moved to clutch onto the collar of Mingi's uniform, pulling him even closer. You couldn't get enough, you were desperate for more.
Mingi seemed to get the hint as he straightened his posture, not once disconnecting the kiss. You stood up on your tiptoes to keep the contact as his free hand slid around your waist, his arm wrapping around your torso, holding you flush against him. He paused for a moment, relocating the hand that cupped the back of your neck to your waist. He held onto you tightly as he stood up fully. You gasped against his lips as the tips of your shoes lost contact with the wooden flooring of the gazebo.
He only pulled away long enough to mutter,
"I got you."
You trusted him, closing your eyes once again as you allowed his full lips to fully encase yours, sending another rush of heat throughout your body.
Unfortunately, breathing was something you needed to do to survive, so you had to pull away, ultimately ending the blissful moment. Mingi slowly lowered you to where your feet touched the ground again. The two of you huffed, your breaths coming out in puffs thanks to the wintry weather.
"As much as I'd like to stay out here and kiss you, we've got work to do." You reminded him.
"I know." His shoulders drooped a bit.
"We can always hang out later."
He smiled after hearing that.
The two of you stepped back out into the open and headed back towards the workshop hand-in-hand.
"I have a question." Mingi spoke up.
"Yes?"
"What now?"
"What now?" You parroted.
"Yeah. What are we?"
You didn't wanna get ahead of yourself, so you turned the question on him. "What do you want us to be?"
"Honestly... I'd love to be able to call you my girlfriend."
You smiled at his answer. "Good. Because I'd like to call you my boyfriend."
"Really?"
The fact that he was still surprised after the two of you had just kissed was adorable.
"You won't be ashamed to be seen with me?"
"When have I ever been ashamed to be seen with you?" You questioned.
"Touché." He chuckled.
You came to a stop at the large workshop doors, turning to Mingi.
"I'll see you after work." You told him, pressing a soft kiss to the back of his hand.
He grinned bashfully in response as he opened the doors. You both kept your hands clasped together, parting ways to go to your respective stations. As you separated, you gave Mingi a small smile and a wave.
Your entrance attracted quite a bit of attention, but you didn't care. The only thing you cared about was getting toys finished so you could spend more time with Mingi... and kiss him some more, of course.

A Worthy Sacrifice
Going on a food run for this spaceship usually didn’t end up in a debate over whose body parts are more expendable. Never, as a matter of fact. Today was the first. And it could have easily been our last.
The trip had such a peaceful start, too. Along with the usual supplies that we paid real money for, Captain Sunlight sent a handful of us to pick up a local delicacy: some plant. I honestly missed the name. I was more interested in the location — inside a vast cave complex with shafts of light filtering in from above, and multiple lakes of poison to make the perfect growing environment. Or maybe they were acid lakes. At any rate, extremely dangerous, and completely at odds with the lovely sun-dappled scenery and brightly colored plantlife.
I stood with some trepidation at the edge of the cave maze, holding an empty bag and wondering if there was maybe an entrance somewhere big enough for a hoverbike. Beside me, the hulking forms of the Frillian twins were similarly hesitant. You can’t punch an acid lake, after all, or lift weights at it.
Down closer to ground level, Mur just looked annoyed. “It’s fine,” he said, flipping a blue-black tentacle forward. “The locals pick these plants daily.” His own bag was on a dinky little hoversled that followed him like a flying puppy, leash and all. The sled also held a couple pairs of pruning shears in case the stems gave us trouble. Mur could have ridden on the sled himself, pushing off the ground like a squid-shaped kid on a snow disk, but that would have been undignified. Strongarms are proud of that tentacle-walking, after all.
And apparently they’re not phased by giant lakes of acid.
“If you say so,” I told him. “Lead the way.”
He did, grumbling. I followed, taking care not to trip over the sled, while Blip and Blop stood tall and brought up the rear.
The entrance tunnel was small, alongside many others, and a few turned out to lead to the same big cavern. My first impression was warmth. I regretted wearing a sweater, thin and utilitarian though it was. I took it off as we walked, tying it around my waist, glad that I at least had my hair tied back in its usual long braid. I didn’t need any extra sweat about my neck today.
Once the sweater was secure, I was free to appreciate the scenery. It really was pretty. The walls were a wash of reds and golds, with multiple types of greenery sprouting from every level surface and a few that weren’t. The lake far below was an evil purple, fading to the innocent blue of tropical seas at the edges. A solid fence lined the cliff edge, which I appreciated.
The wall behind us was awash in climbing vines with dangling blueberry-looking things that sure would be convenient if they were the plants we were here for.
No such luck. Those were on the far side. Lots of them. A vast jungle of treelike things, most of which were bent under the weight of head-sized yellow fruit. As I watched, one particularly spindly trunk lost its biggest fruit to gravity, and sprung upwards to fling the smaller ones away in a comical fashion. I could almost hear the splats against the cave wall.
“Well, they sure look ripe,” I said.
Mur wasn’t interested. “Where’s the— Oh, there it is. We took the wrong door. C’mon.” He slapped away along the path beside that fence, over to where a single large hover platform waited like a ferry.
We were just getting on, with me trying to hide my misgivings and the Frillians doing the same, when a chorus of more slapping tentacle-steps approached at speed.
“Wait!” commanded the large reddish Strongarm in the lead, who was colored much like the cavern walls. She was also shaped more like an octopus than a squid, as was the green one behind her. The beige-gray one had a pointy squid head like Mur.
Mur waited. He’d already figured out the controls for the platform, and he stood there in silence while I clutched the railing with the Frillians, and the newcomers climbed on.
With nods all around, Mur pressed a button to close the gate. Then he removed the lid of the fancy pottery jar big enough for a child to hide inside — I’d assumed somebody had left it behind and he scooped out a bunch of those blueberry things. As I watched in curiosity, he opened a different lid, this one over a part of the control console that stuck out, baring a dark tunnel like an ominous toilet bowl.
He threw the berries in. The platform’s engine started.
Mur steered us out over the deadly lake, engines humming happily, throwing clusters of berries in every so often. I exchanged looks with the Frillians. The other Strongarms didn’t look impressed.
“Are those fuel berries?” I asked.
“Only for this engine,” Mur said, tapping a sign. “It takes anything organic. Nice of the locals to make sure there’s always a full pot here. There is a note here to refill what we use if possible, and I think we definitely should, but I’m sure that not everyone does.”
The red Strongarm made a flapping noise that I recognized as the equivalent of a snort. Yeah, she probably wouldn’t stick around to do her part.
(And remember that bit about “anything organic”? If you recall how I started this little anecdote, this is where you’ll start to get concerned.)
There was only a moderate level of worry in the air at that point, though. We hadn’t fallen in yet and the rails seemed sturdy, if sparse, and the jungle was approaching at a reasonable pace. The slight breeze even made the temperature pleasant.
When Mur docked the platform headfirst and opened a gate on the other side, I was the first one off among the trees. Picking the yellow fruits turned out to be a great time, especially the way they kept accidentally flying through the air. They were about as heavy as cantaloupes, but with such rubbery outsides that it was like they were made for high-impact comedy. I did my best to pick each tree thoroughly, hanging onto the bent trunk with one hand before letting go. I’d started by taking a single fruit from each tree, but that had not worked.
Blip and Blop had the most efficient strategy: one held a bag and the other shook a tree like they were taking its lunch money. Mur just climbed the lowest trunks and plucked everything he found. One way or another, we filled our bags quickly and met back at the platform.
The strangers were a little slower, but again, we waited politely. Soon enough, we were on the way across the lake that lurked distantly below like malevolent grape jam.
I was just thinking that it had been a while since I’d had a proper PB&J when the trouble happened.
The Strongarms, standing on one side of the platform with their sacks of fruit, produced blasters and demanded ours.
(Yes, Strongarms keep things hidden among their tentacles. Yes, it’s just as gross as it sounds.)
Anyway, they must have taken our politeness and healthy fear of death for the signs of a bunch of pushovers, and wow they were wrong about that.
Blip and Blop swung their sacks of fruit in unison while I dove to one side and Mur took the other. You’d think we did this sort of thing all the time. In reality, there were only so many directions to go in a fenced-in battleground like this.
The would-be bandits were too busy dodging the sacks to aim their blasters properly, though they tried. One shot Blip’s bag of fruit, making her even more angry as yellow globes bounced everywhere. One nearly singed my ear, but didn’t get a second shot when I roundhouse kicked him in the squiddy head.
The other one, the leader, was wrestling Mur, and her shot went right through the center of the berry pot, shattering it and sending the platform’s fuel in every direction.
I mentioned that the railings weren’t exactly close together. And that these looked like blueberries: the little round things. My point is, they rolled. With great talent and speed. Right off the sides and down into that terrifying lake, leaving only a few behind.
“Look what you did!” Mur yelled, wrestling harder.
Blop made an undignified squeak of concern, then tried to find an angle he could help from. He ended up stepping firmly on a red tentacle and pinning the blaster to the floor.
His sister, meanwhile, was slamming an alien cantaloupe against the green guy, whose own weapon was stuck inside a different fruit, making its leisurely way down towards the lake.
The gray dude was out cold, which was a surprise to me. I guess Strongarms are easy to concuss, I thought as I made sure his blaster was safe on our side of the platform. I’d considered throwing it over the side as well, but figured we might want it to keep them in line once they woke up. I sure wasn’t planning on giving it back, though.
Crunch went the third blaster, Ow went the Strongarm holding it, and “Stay down, you arm-dragging limp grub!” went Mur. The red Strongarm stayed down.
So. We won the fight. But we only had a scattered few berries left to fuel the platform, and it had coasted to a stop in what looked to me like the exact stinkin’ center of this terrible, poisonous lake.
Blop looked worried. “Now what?” he asked Mur.
“These?” Blip suggested, holding a yellow fruit out toward the intake.
“No!” Mur shouted, startling everyone. He blocked her path. “Those break the engine. Didn’t you read the sign?”
I glanced at the defeated Strongarms. “I think only you read the sign,” I told him.
“Well, it’s very clear!” he exclaimed, waving dark tentacles like he wanted to tear out hair that he didn’t have. “Only other organics!”
Blip set the fruit down. “What do we have?” she asked, checking her pockets. “I’ve got two shrimp sticks and one of those seednuts that Paint likes.”
We all took stock, coming up with a whole lot of nothing. The unconscious Strongarms woke, and submitted to sitting in the corner with their leader, injured and embarrassed and also not in possession of any spare fuel.
“Let’s at least see how far the berries take us,” Mur said grimly, picking up the nearest.
We gathered all that we could find, and it took us a little way. Pocket snacks and whatnot took us a bit farther. We considered clothes (most were artificial), the fruit-carrying bags (same), and even treating the toilet-looking thing in appropriate but mortifying ways.
As we got increasingly desperate, we were still far from shore.
“Pretty sure this is real leather,” Mur said as he dropped in the leash for his tiny hoversled. “That will take us … not far enough.”
We were sort of close, kind of. Relatively speaking.
“The captain will come looking if we’re gone long enough,” Blop said.
“She doesn’t know which tunnel we took,” Mur reminded him. “Searching could take days.”
“Won’t the locals find us?” Blip asked.
The red Strongarm sneered. “They just finished a work cycle, and it’s a regular holiday. You think we’d try to rob you if they could come in at any moment?”
Both Frillians groaned.
Mur scowled. “Yes, very smart. See where that got you!” Moving slowly for added drama, he picked up a pair of shears from his sled. “Who wants to volunteer something organic?”
There were desperate pleas at that, and stonefaced silence from Mur that I hoped was acting.
“What about them?” the leader said, pointing wildly at the Frillians. “Surely they don’t need all those frills!”
Blip and Blop regarded her with identical shocked expressions. “Yes we do!”
“Well, we need our arms! You think that wouldn’t hurt to cut off?”
The yelling escalated while something very obvious occurred to me. I stepped over to Mur and flopped the braid over my shoulder. “Do you think this would be enough?”
The Strongarms shut up immediately. And they stayed silent while Mur calculated, so silent that I started to wonder.
They answered my question before I could ask it.
“You would volunteer that?” asked the red one quietly.
Ohhh, they think it’s a tentacle covered in hair, I realized. Have they not met a human before? Never mind; let’s see if Mur plays along.
“Yes,” I said solemnly, instead of going “Yeah” like I usually would. “If this is the only way to save all of us, then I will gladly make that sacrifice.” I looked over at Blip and Blop, who were elbowing each other but keeping mum. Good.
Mur ushered me toward the intake with all the grandeur of a high-society attendant. “If you would permit me to do the honors,” he said, “I will be quick.”
So I stood in front of the thing with my back to it so the wide-eyed bandits couldn’t see, told Mur to cut just below the hair tie, and held up my sweater ready to wrap it around my head like a bandage.
Yes, I did feel silly. But the bandits deserved a bit of shame and secondhand anguish. Besides, I’d been wanting to try a short haircut for ages, but never found the right time to chop it all off.
This is definitely the right time, I thought. “Go ahead.”
Mur snipped through the braid with one clean cut — hooray for sharp shears — and I collapsed with an anguished expression and some artful whimpers. Blip helped tie the sweater “bandage,” while Blop shielded us from view and stared down the Strongarms. I didn’t see Mur drop the braid into the intake, since my view was somewhat limited, but I felt the engine kick on with a most welcome hum.
I really hope that was enough, I thought as I lay there with my arms about my head. It’ll suck if we have to snip this down to a buzz cut. That’ll be hard to keep up the act through. And I really don’t want hair THAT short.
But when the engine finally went quiet, it was to a cheer from the Frillians. We were close enough to jump.
Or, more accurately, close enough for Blip to fling Mur across the gap with one of my socks to gather berries in. Mur was a terrible shot when he threw it back, but enough berries reached us that we were able to close the distance.
I pulled the blaster from my waistband and nudged it over the side before I forgot. It was too small for the Frillians to use anyway.
Plus, we didn’t need it. By the sound of her voice, the lead Strongarm had been so humbled by my sacrifice that she might have been considering a career change.
She even offered their collections of fruit, and the other two didn’t object.
Mur accepted graciously. I managed to turn my chuckling into pained noises as strong Frillian arms lifted me. I didn’t uncover my head to look. By the sounds of it, the many fruits were being balanced on Mur’s sled and the shoulders of whichever Frillian wasn’t carrying me.
“Farewell,” Mur said haughtily. “Make better choices in the future.”
We left the cavern to the sound of the ex-bandits promising to do so.
I have no idea if they’ll really go straight, but wouldn’t it be hilarious if they did?
Once we were out of sight, Blip put me down and took her share of the fruit bags. I claimed one too. I felt much lighter without the braid. And the threat of impending death.
I looked at my crewmates cheerfully. “Let’s never do that again.”
“Not without significant backup,” Mur agreed.
“Or more spare headfur!” Blop said.
“I’ve definitely spared enough for one day.” I freed a hand to pull out the hair tie, marveling at how simple a process it was now.
My crewmates all told me I looked incredibly strange with short hair about my face like that.
I told them to wait until I picked a final hairstyle, and I described hair gel to them.

Last Life: The Musical – Audition Masterpost and Song Info (1/2)
Part 2 – please check this out too!
Lots of people have been asking me about auditions for this, so I've decided to make a masterpost. Auditions will be opening sometime within the next week – the specific end date will be specified on the audition form, since it depends when it's sent. It'll likely be three weeks from when the form is sent out.
The Process
There'll be a form posted on my blog. Follow the instructions, answer the questions and fill it in.
You don't have to audition for both speaking and singing roles – there will be opportunities to audition for both, and the same character may not have the same person playing both parts. Likewise, you an audition for vocals for one character and speaking roles for another.
For vocalists: There are no set audition songs. This stage is all about me seeing the different qualities of people's voices, and matching them to characters that fit what I hear. You can specify any preferences, but you may not get them – however, if there are characters you really don't want to play, I will honour that. Because of that, please just sing a song or an extract of a song in a style you're comfortable with (if auditioning for vocals). This should be minimum one minute long, and though there is no maximum, it would be nice for it to be around 2 minutes (though you can very much go over). Try to keep it to one form.
If I think you would fit, I may contact you to be involved in the Watcher Chorus as well – there are no auditions for this, however, and you can turn it down (there's a lot of singing).
For those auditioning for speaking roles: this will take preferences into account more, though I will contact you if I'd like you to try out for somebody else. Please find an extract of the role you want speaking – this can be in a video or in a highly in-character fan work, since those provide good material, and record it. You can submit multiple forms if you're auditioning for multiple speaking roles, due to the higher specificity of audition material.
Note that generally, speaking roles are much more minor than singing roles!
If you're auditioning for both, do both – this is pretty self-explanatory.
You must have a good quality mic, or access to one, to audition. Please have access to discord as well, since everything will be done there.
If you need further information, DM me either on here or on discord (songofthesky_)!
This is all for Stage 1 of auditions – to those who I'm considering for parts, I'll contact you a few weeks after the submissions have ended to describe the next steps.
To help people get an idea of what each part entails, a list of songs, their descriptions, and who sings them is under the cut. I've tried to arrange it so the people who are mentioned first are the people that get more lines. Bear in mind not all of them have names yet!
(There will also be a part 2 coming sometime this week with general atmospheres for each character's songs (only those with solos or duets, as this doesn't apply to those in only group numbers). This should also help you get an idea of what each part entails. However please note these are only getting across the atmospheres, not anything more specific – it's generally to help decide if there's someone you don't want to sing than someone you do.)
Finally, the three characters with the most singing and plot relevance are Martyn, Scott and Grian (in that order) – consider this when auditioning!
Act 1:
Overture/Middle of Nowhere: We’re introduced to the Last Life world by the Chorus as players spawn in. Martyn seems to hear something, but brushes it off. [N/A – finished]
Corners of the World: Through Martyn’s perspective we’re introduced to players and their alliances. He meets Scott and Pearl and chats to them for a while, before heading with them to spawn. Martyn, Lizzie, Bdubs, Etho, Joel [sung]; Martyn, Scott, Pearl [spoken]
“Tales: Down In The Mines″/”The Boogeyman”: At spawn, Bdubs narrates his experience with the boogeyman curse. Grian then shows up, narrates his own experience as the victim, and all around the map the players express what they’ve heard about the Boogeyman curse themselves. Bdubs, Grian [sung – solo parts]; Martyn, Scott, Pearl, Jimmy, Scar, Mumbo, Impulse, Tango, Skizz, Etho [sung – make up a player chorus]; Etho, Grian [spoken].
“A(ha)lliances”: The Southlands ally, making a-ha jokes. Meanwhile, Pearl and Scott solidify their alliance via Pearl gifting Scott a life. Martyn, Grian, Jimmy, Impulse, Mumbo, Scott, Pearl [sung]
“You Bet Your Life”: Tango introduces his game, the different attitudes to it showing us different traits of the characters. Tango [sung].
“The Table Song 1″: Now some time into the series, the Chorus updates us on the alliances that have formed: the Fairy Fort, Team BEST, Magical Mountain, Scott and Pearl, and the Southlands. It also chronicles the journey of the Enchanting Table, now in Magical Mountain, and the Southlands’ trip to enchant which ends with Scar’s Boogeyman kill. Chorus [sung]; all players [spoken, very brief]
“Our Will Be Done (Precursor 1)”: Martyn hears a mysterious voice speaking to him for the first time, telling him to give Ren some Nether Wart. He does so. Martyn’s voice, Martyn [spoken]
“Tales: The Three Skulls”: Seeing Martyn a little distracted (and probably sensing some Watcher influence but shh), Grian offers a bit of excitement to him and the rest of the Southlands: he’s come across news that it is possible to raise a Wither, a mystical being of destruction – which they could use to get the upper hand on others should they need it – and that they only need to gather 3 Wither skulls to do so. Martyn is distrustful of his intentions. Grian, Martyn, Jimmy, Impulse, Mumbo. Grian has the vast majority of lines.
“Debts (instrumental with dialogue)”: Martyn extinguishes Ren’s burning tower and Ren tells him of his alliance and pledge to Lizzie, reminding him of his time in 3rd Life. Martyn, Ren [spoken]
“In Spring We Met”: After returning to the Southlands, Martyn thinks about the conflicting loyalties he feels between the Southlands and the remaining ties he feels to Ren, despite it being a new life. As he falls asleep, the voice whispers to him about betraying the Southlands and forming an alliance with Ren to suit its own goals. Martyn [sung]
“The Table Song 2″*: The journey of the Enchanting Table is further chronicled, coming into Scott and Pearl’s possession, who then sell it to Lizzie for a life each, putting Scott up to the same number of lives as Martyn, 4. Chorus [sung]; Scott, Pearl, Lizzie [spoken]
“Green, Crimson, Gold”: The Chorus informs the viewers about more of Joel’s situation – loosing four lives in a single session after rolling Boogey, chronicling each one. News of a Red name is spread throughout the server, as is the mantra of staying away from and severing ties with all Reds, as they can’t be trusted. Chorus, all players but Scott and Joel (singing); Joel, Scott, Pearl [spoken]
“Their Dubious Game”: Scott – now on 4 lives after trading the enchanting table to Lizzie – hears the words being said about Joel, and is also reminded of 3rd Life, recalling how despite his partner turning Red early on, this didn’t seem to lead to a change in loyalties, only capabilities. He begins to realise that this was the case for all Reds back then, and begins to doubt the rules all the players somehow ‘know’. Scott [sung]
“A(ha)lliances (Reprise)”:  Time passes, and Martyn grows closer to the Southlands. However, he’s still meeting up with Ren who offers to introduce him to Lizzie and the rest of the Fairy Fort, potentially considering a betrayal. The Voice prompts him to accept this, as they can be useful in its plan. Martyn, Grian, Jimmy, Impulse, Mumbo, Ren [sung]; Martyn's voice [spoken]
“Their Delicate Game/His Dubious Game”: Martyn comes back from a meeting with Ren just in time for a Southlands meeting, in which Grian informs him and the rest of the Southlands that he has two things to tell them – the first of which is that he’s discovered a way to go beyond the borders of the world. They do so, Grian expressing how it is possible (and enjoyable) to break the rules set out for them – Martyn thinks about this. Grian then informs them of his second piece of news, that Scott and Pearl are in possession of a Wither Skull, and expresses his desire to retrieve it, giving the task to Martyn, Impulse and Mumbo go. They do so – however, Martyn secretly intends to destroy it because of how unprepared everyone is for a Wither fight, and possibly because he’s not entirely on the side of the Southlands, either. Grian, Martyn, Jimmy, Impulse, Mumbo [sung]
“[Unnamed Song]”: The three are found out by Scott, and Impulse and Mumbo flee. Scott informs Martyn that Grian also has a Wither Skull, and Martyn immediately gives the skull back, not knowing Grian already had one. The two talk about their distrust of Grian and his desire to bring complete chaos to the server. However, that night (post-song) the Voice informs him that its goal is to watch the server burn. Martyn, Scott [sung]
“Northern Lament”: Joel, still the only Red, is getting progressively angrier about being treated the way he is simply because he’s a Red name. At the bottom of the mountain, he pledges to get some more allies soon. Meanwhile, Scar, at the top of the mountain, is musing about the same things – he’s also alone because of distrust, but part of the isolation is also because he has the highest life count of anyone, at 7. Joel, Scar [sung]
“The Table Song 3″: The Chorus further chronicles the Enchanting Table’s journey, now in the Fairy Fort, where two members – Ren and BigB – are chosen as the Boogeyman. Team BEST visits and Bdubs gives a life to Lizzie in exchange, giving enchanting to everyone free of charge. Ren manages to kill a member of Team BEST, Skizz, but BigB has not gotten a kill yet, and the session is nearly over. He catches sight of his closest ally Cleo by the side of Ren’s pit trap. Chorus [sung]; Lizzie, Ren, BigB, Cleo, Skizz, Bdubs, Etho, Tango [spoken]
“Green, Crimson, Gold (Reprise)”: Cleo, now Yellow, arrives at Scott and Pearl’s base informing them of BigB’s Boogeyman kill on her, wanting to cut ties. Scott and Pearl accept (song intro). Meanwhile, Joel is getting desperate for allies, now hunting for Yellows to convert to Red with him. Hearing about Grian’s wither skull, he goes to the Nether, where Grian and Mumbo are building a Ghost farm, and shoots Grian off the edge, turning him Red. BDubs, fighting in the Nether, falls and turns Red too. When heading to Scott and Pearl’s base, a Yellow Cleo is killed by Joel’s trap. Chorus, Cleo, Scott, Pearl, Joel [sung]; Grian, Mumbo, Bdubs, Cleo, Joel [spoken]
20. “Friends”: The Southlands are informed of Grian’s death, and, now Red, Grian is to be exiled from the Southlands. He desperately tries to kill Mumbo as Impulse and Jimmy arrive, asking if they can still be friends, while Scott and Pearl mourn the loss of a friendship with Cleo, and Martyn is introduced to the rest of the Shadow Alliance under the gaze of the Moon, giving Ren a life. Grian, Mumbo, Jimmy, Impulse, Martyn, Scott, Pearl, Ren, Lizzie, BigB, Chorus [all sung]
Act 2:
“Walls”: Grian has been exiled from the Southlands, the stone wall he built separating them. In the Snow Fort, Etho and BDubs build a wall to keep them separate until he can gain a life again. Cleo, wanting vengeance on BigB, meets Scott on the other side of his wall, Scott giving her some sugarcane. Post-song, Grian, Joel and Cleo express their desire to gain lives back from Scar. Chorus, Grian, Bdubs, Etho, Cleo, Scott, Joel [sung]; Grian [spoken]
“Their Will”: Martyn relays the aims of the Voice, which he now interprets as the Moon, to the rest of the Shadow Alliance, who agree with it. Martyn, Ren, Lizzie, BigB [sung]
“Die For Me”: In that Shadow Alliance meeting, Martyn asks if there’s anything recent he should know about the Fairy Fort. They tell him the Fairy Fort has burned down at the hands of Cleo, relaying the tale as a flashback (with mainly Cleo singing). Cleo [sung, major part], BigB, Lizzie, Ren [sung, not many lines]; Martyn [spoken]. Functions as a Cleo solo.
“Promises”/“Coal Mine”*: During a Southlands meeting, Jimmy runs away with Martyn’s life. Martyn chases him, spurred on by the Voice. He lies to Jimmy, telling him they can run away from the Southlands together if he gives him back his life. Jimmy expresses his worry about potentially being the first out again in the process, as this has happened before and he is very vulnerable as a Yellow, and agrees. Martyn runs back with his life straight after. Jimmy, Martyn [sung]; Jimmy, Martyn [spoken]. Jimmy has most of the lines – functionally this is a Jimmy solo.
“[Unnamed Wither Theme (Song: Precursor)]*”: During the day, the Southlanders meet Scott, Martyn bringing up the danger of Grian’s Wither Skull as he’s now Red, and they decide to look for it. As Martyn is called away to a Shadow Alliance Meeting, Impulse manages to find it, and entrusts it to Scott. Scott gives it to the Fairy Fort for safekeeping. Martyn, Impulse, Jimmy, Mumbo [sung]; Scott, Impulse [spoken]
“Tales: The Wizard On The Mountain”: a Yellow Grian rejoins the Southlands, telling them (especially Martyn, as he did not know when this happened due to his absences) how he and Joel got a life back from Scar, who’s now Yellow himself, in addition to Cleo getting one too and rejoining Scott. Grian [sung]; Joel, Scar, Cleo [spoken]
“The Trial of Timmy”: The Southlands hold a trial for Jimmy about whether he should be exiled or stay in. They will anonymously vote their verdict in a book, Grian campaigning for Jimmy to leave, while the others, minus Martyn, campaign for him to stay. When it is time for them to vote, Martyn votes him in. Jimmy, Grian, Martyn, Impulse, Mumbo [sung]
“Our Will Be Done (Precursor 2)”: The Voice is angry at Martyn, asking him why he’s still attached to the Southlands when he wishes to join the Shadow, appearing to him and telling him a demonstration is in order... “Lights extinguish/Begin the Slaughter/Our Will Be Done!” Martyn’s voice [spoken]
Unnamed Song: Grian convinces Impulse to help him gather the three Wither Skulls he needs, Impulse musing about how despite the chaos it’ll bring, he wants to stay loyal to his allies. Martyn notices their actions, but doesn’t attempt to stop them, and distracts Bdubs and Etho while the other two take it. Impulse, Grian, Martyn [sung]; Grian, Martyn, Bdubs, Etho [spoken].
“Red, Crimson, Gold (Reprise 2)/The Boogeyman (Reprise)”: As Grian is distracted by this aim, the other members of the South fall to boogeymen, of which there are six of this session, due to the Voice’s promise. Impulse falls to Yellow at Scott’s hands, and Mumbo and Jimmy both become Red, along with many other players on the server, including Lizzie and once more, Joel. Chorus [sung]; Grian, Impulse, Scott, Mumbo, Jimmy, Lizzie, Joel [spoken]
“You Bet Your Life (Reprise)” – Needing a Boogeyman kill, Bdubs kills Tango at Team BEST’s base, leading Tango to rage and Team BEST to fall apart. Bdubs, Tango, Skizz, Etho [sung]; Bdubs, Tango [spoken]
“Friends (Reprise)”: Returning to the Southlands after their mission, Grian, Martyn and Impulse find the South blown up by Mumbo: mourning the loss of the alliance, they mournfully burn the walls in commemoration, while the trust and alliance between Scott, Pearl and Cleo strengthens. Far away, Etho, with Bdubs once again on the other side of the wall, discovers the missing Wither Skull, suspecting the Southlands. Grian, Martyn, Impulse, Scott, Pearl, Cleo [sung]; Etho, Bdubs [spoken]
“[Unnamed Song]”: Martyn and Grian, now the last two Southland members after Impulse is shot by Mumbo in the Nether and becomes Red, mentally comment about their distrust of the other person and about there being something off about them, Martyn due to the Voice’s seeming hatred of Grian and Grian’s apparent apathy to everything apart from causing bloodshed, Grian because he senses something around Martyn (Watcher powers heh) and his relative absence from the Southlands when they were still around, though he does express a wish to protect their last remaining threads of alliance. They express none of this aloud. Martyn, Grian [sung]
“When Will You Learn?”: Heading back to the Southlands, Grian and Martyn meet Jimmy and Mumbo, who attack them. Grian kills them both, to Martyn’s shock, and shocked himself, tries to defend these actions. All of a sudden, the Voice appears again and a Boogeyman curse strikes Martyn. Prompted by the Voice (seeming to have a specific hatred of Grian) and by vengeance for Mumbo and Jimmy, Martyn immediately moves to kill Grian. They confront each other about their various actions against the Southlands, and their apparent detachment from it, and talk about their suspicions that the other person knows more than they seem about the nature of the games – as the Voice tries to stop Martyn from inquiring further. Grian says he experiences this alongside his friends as a decision when prompted by Martyn stating he never cared in the first place. He wonders if Martyn would understand the situation due to his position; however, he does not know what Grian is talking about and distrusts him. Angry, Grian tries to leave, calling Martyn nothing but a follower, but after a pause Martyn manages to boogeyman kill him, though the kill is attributed to a nearby Joel. Angry, the voices swell around Martyn and he falls asleep. Martyn, Grian [sung]; Martyn’s voice [spoken]
“[Unnamed Wither Song]”/“When Will You Learn (Reprise)”: The Wither is raised by a Red Grian and Impulse in Team BEST’s base. Etho wants to run, but Bdubs attacks it, giving him the courage to attack too – however, Bdubs loses a life to it, turning Red once more. The remaining Greens and Yellows flock to fight it, Scott among the first, as the Reds join in, trying to kill the other players. The Wither is defeated by Etho; Impulse falls to Scott’s hand, dying permanently. Bdubs expresses his faith that Etho will give him another chance to come back, at which Grian laughs at and declines – loyalty gets you nowhere. Bdubs takes Lizzie’s final life as he was promised a life in exchange for killing a Red; he is shot by Grian as he runs to Etho to inform him of this. Etho reacts etc. Full cast apart from Jimmy, Mumbo, Skizz and Martyn [sung]; Etho, Bdubs [spoken].
16. “Our Will Be Done”: Waking up all alone, Martyn hallucinates his friends, before they are revealed as fake, the Voice in their places. He finally snaps at it, asking why they’re doing this. Why are they speaking to him? Why are they hell-bent on killing Grian? What did he mean? Why does he have to follow it when he wants to do the opposite of what they tell him? Who are they – why should he do anything they say? However, they pacify him, promising that if he does what they say, they will bring Impulse, Mumbo and Jimmy back. Martyn concedes. Martyn [sung]; Martyn, Martyn’s voice [spoken]
17. “Scott’s Elegy”: The Boogeyman curse falls on Scott, and though he’s complied with it once before, he makes a pledge not to succumb to it, as he doesn’t want to kill any more allies with so few lives left in the game. He lets himself turn Red. Scott [sung]
18. “[Unnamed Depressed c!Martyn Song]”: Martyn thinks on Scott’s decision, thinking about how he had the willpower to choose what he wanted to despite the consequences and the will of the world, and about his inability to do the same – he’s pushed around by the Voices without enough willpower to say no, and though he wishes to make choices, he cannot. He thinks about Grian’s words. Martyn [sung]
19. “Our Will Be Done (Reprise)*”: In a meeting of the Greens and Yellows, the Voice tells Martyn to place an End Crystal in the centre as a test for Scott: if he blows it up, he passes, if he doesn’t, he fails. Scott chooses not to, and as Scott turns Red, the voices talking to Martyn become loud and angry, commanding him to kill Scott for disobeying them, yet again promising him the Southlands back if he does. While walking around, Martyn loses his first life to a trap at Grian’s hands. Martyn’s voice, Scott, Martyn, Grian [spoken]
20. “Boogie Boogie Boogie (On The Dance Floor)”: The Chorus informs us that it is the last day. Pearl is chosen as the Boogeyman, rigging a TNT trap on a disco floor, turning Ren’s red. The others quickly fall to the Reds, including Cleo. Pearl, Chorus [sung]. Functions as a Pearl solo.
21. “Martyn’s Stand”: Now left as the last Yellow, Martyn decides he is tired of hiding, deciding make a last stand against everyone. At first humming the start of “In Spring We Met” as a comfort, he heads to a mountain and pouring lava down the sides as a beacon for the Reds. However, though he puts up a good fight, he doesn’t manage to take any of them down before dying himself, marking the server entirely Red. Chorus, Martyn, Pearl, Scott, Ren, Joel, Etho, Cleo, Grian [sung]. Every player apart from Martyn only has one or two lines as a solo – the rest is singing as a group.
22. “Battle Royale”: With the Reds having turned on each other, the four survivors – Pearl, Scott, Ren and Martyn – agree to a Battle Royale to decide the victor. Pearl dies early on, prompting Scott to grieve and resolve to win this fight, no matter what it takes. Martyn eventually falls to his own End Crystal. Only Scott and Ren are left, and they fight to the voices of dead players telling them to play the game. After a long fight, Scott manages to kill Ren, partially due to a zombie which he interprets as the world maybe doing something after all for his defiance. He is crowned the winner. However, the Voice does not like this, the Chorus supporting this, and Scott is stricken dead with heavenly lightning. Chorus (now combined with all dead players), Scott, Martyn, Ren, Pearl [sung]
23. “Plainly Spoken [Epilogue]”: All is silence, and yet Martyn opens his eyes once more, to the Voice and the Chorus, now joined as they are the same entity, informing him how disappointed they are in him, and that he is heading closer and closer to the light. As he asks questions, he is cut off, and they say he will forget all that has happened with them as he and everyone else moves into the next game. Up above, the land is now in the state it was at the start of the first verse of “Middle of Nowhere”, and they are revealed to be those that run the death loop. Chorus/Martyn’s voice (as one) [sung in a spoken way/vice versa]; Martyn (spoken)

Running into Charles’ arms after his podium and telling him that he better not be too harsh on himself for not being p1
i took this and spun it but i hope its okay
“You did good,” you said, but it didn’t resonate with Charles the way you wanted it to. But you couldn’t blame him, you worked at Mercedes, you should have been the last person to congratulate him in the paddock. Especially as you were wearing the black Mercedes t-shirt, the teal hat, carrying Lewis’ backpack for fuck sakes.
Your relationship with Charles was…complicated to say the least. You met once at a bar last year and by the end of the night you were nothing but tangled limbs and a chorus of ‘oh fucks’ and ‘god, please’
And when he found out you worked for Mercedes, you expected this whole friends acquaintances(?) with benefits thing to end, but it didn't. He sought you out after his poor performances and his proud ones and you were always there, telling him you'll meet him in a few minutes or at least promising you'll go to his hotel room at the end of the night.
It wasn't supposed to be be anything more than sex, really.
So you weren't sure what came over you when you approached him in the paddock following his post-race interview. It wasn't like you could say 'come by my room around 10' in front of the dozens of people that were surrounding him, but the 'you did good' spoke volumes.
Of course you would root for Lewis and George, but seeing Charles cross that line and claiming that third place podium, it just ignited something in you.
And when you noticed that he was disappointed more than anything, god you felt that. You wished there was away to take that pain from him just so he could celebrate with his team for the remainder of the night.
"Could have been better," he muttered and something urged you to grab hold of his wrist and keep him from going anywhere,
"I mean it," you said, eyes locked on his. "Charles, the Red Bulls are in a league of their own, no one can challenge them. You should be proud of your podium, proud that you kept Alonso from another third place finish, hell be proud that your pace was better than a Mercedes today."
He laughed at that. He appreciated that you were able to remove yourself as a Mercedes team member to be his friend, or more than that possibly.
"You did good," you repeated. This time, he knew you meant it. They weren't just empty words. It wasn't an obligatory pity congrats that you had to give him in passing. You wanted him to know that you were cheering for him and was, ultimately, proud of his results.
"Thank you," this time, his gentle smile reached the green of his eyes. Even in the setting sun, even as his name was being called in all directions, even though he had about twelve other people he had to talk to after that race, he took a moment to really thank you.
And thank you, he did.
Charles' hand cupped the side of your face before you could register what he was doing. He pulled your lips to yours, something that was only ever reserved for the privacy of a hotel room. But god he didn't care.
The fact that you cared. That you went out of your way to show him that you cared. Charles couldn't help but ask himself why the hell he wasn't showing you the same courtesy in public.
So he kissed you. In front of fans. In front of the cameras. In front of crew members from various teams that just happened to be walking by. You in your black Mercedes shirt. Him in his red drivers suit.
You didn't want to separate, but you had to. You'd get an earful from Toto and everyone else in the garage regardless, but you knew to at least be a little respectful when it came to public displays of affection.
And if you were being honest, you weren't sure where to go from here. Charles crossed a line, one that he was more than welcome to cross, but now you were both in uncharted waters.
"I, um-" no words came to mind, but you still tried. "I don't know-"
"Let me take you out," Charles cut you off.
Now would have been the point where you would have said you'd meet him later for a quick fuck. But he was putting something new on the table, something public, something that would bring you from hook ups to maybe something more and you didn't hate it.
"You want to take me out? Like on a date?" You asked, totally aware of the prying eyes that surrounded you, but it didn't deter you in the slightest.
"Yeah," he was so sure of his choice. "There's no one else I want to celebrate this podium with but you."
And who were you to turn that down?

the bill wurtz reference gave me a fucking heart attack btw/pos
just so you know
I'm glad people are catching it! :D I know most people know bill wurtz from the history of the world/history of japan videos, but I actually really love his music more than either. It just has a nostalgic vibe to it that it's hard to put into words, and sometimes there are little poignant moments that hit surprisingly hard. long long long journey is one of my favorites, but here are some others since I haven't done a post like this in a while.
i can play - the last few lines of this are so haunting for such a relatively upbeat sounding song. they still pop into my head every now and then.
i like - i like picturing gaster for the first bit of this lol
new canaan - the bit that goes "i'm going crazy and i'm feeling blue/cause i know where i'm going but not what to do/ and i always dream of you/every word i say is true" gets me each time, just makes me think of people i've lost
we could just get high - love this chorus and how it keeps echoing off for the ending
dance the night away - just short and silly
might quit - the free association lyrics in full display here
you're free to do whatever you want to - the bridge of this one is a bit poignant i think

What Makes a Home - The Maze Runner Imagine
Request from Anonymous: I have a lil maze runner request. 🥺 maybe something involving a very motherly reader taking care and keep order of all the glade boys and — girl. yea, that’s all I got 😔 just some nice fluffy maternal stuff.
Warning: Some mentions of blood -- I don't think it's too graphic but it is mentioned.
Author's Note: I hope this is what you wanted! Thank you for your patience!
Word Count: 2.5k
"If you don't tie your shoes, you're going to trip over a rock and crack your head open and get a really ugly scar, and you know what you're going to think then? While you're lying on the ground next to the rock that just cracked your head open? You'll think, 'Gosh, Y/N really was right, just like she always is!' And then you'll die. All because you didn't tie your shoes."
Minho cackled as he bent down. He made a big show of double-knotting his laces, narrating aloud, "First you go left under right, then you make the bunny ears..."
You stood over him, hands on your hips, and tried to hold onto your scowl. You meant business. But then he looked up at you and he smiled and you felt yourself smiling back.
"Thanks, Mom," he teased.
You swatted at his arm but he twisted away, laughing as he shot back in to give you a peck on your cheek. He sprinted off to the Maze, calling out behind him, "Hope you're not too bored without me!"
Slinthead, you thought, but the words that came out of your mouth were, "Be careful!" You watched him until he disappeared into the stone mouth of the Maze, and then you waited a few more minutes, just in case he'd forgotten anything.
Time seemed to pass slower in the morning. The sun crawled up the horizon, creeping into a sky painted with vibrant reds, pinks, and oranges. The Glade began to stir awake.
A group of Slicers passed you on their way to the Blood House. Winston was at the head of the pack, talking with Frankie about something that seemed to require lots of hand gestures. Both boys nodded at you as you waved. Trailing behind them were Mike, Dave, and Geo. Geo was busy trying to step on the back of Dave's shoes, and Dave was busy trying to shove Geo away from him, but Mike slowed to a stop beside you, an easy smile on his face.
"Everything alright?"
You smiled back at him. "Yeah, you? Do you guys need any help?"
Mike shook his head. "I know we don't look the most competent," a few feet away, Dave had slung an arm around Geo's neck and gotten him in a headlock, and was now giving him a noogie, "but we're pretty good at our jobs. I just wanted to say thanks for taking over in the kitchen for me."
"No problem! I like helping Frypan."
Mike's smile grew. "You're the best. Let me know if you need anything!" He squeezed your shoulder and jogged back to his friends. Frankie had separated Dave and Geo and was holding them by the backs of their shirts, but that hadn't deterred Winston from his gesticulating.
You gave the group one last wave, receiving back a chorus of "Bye, Y/N!" and, with a final look at the Maze doors, you headed for the kitchen.
"There's our favorite girl!" Frypan exclaimed when you walked in, his hands deep in a ball of dough. The smell of bacon and eggs made your mouth water, and you saw Jim and Carl manning the flat top grill, bickering whenever they thought the other got in their way. Jack was beside them, providing empty plates and taking away the ones they filled, lining them up on the counter that separated the kitchen from the tables.
"You're just in time. We really knead you." Jack laughed at his own joke, jerking his chin to the dough, his hands full of plates.
Jim and Carl groaned in unison, then went back to arguing. Frypan began to sing, too loud and too off-key, and so perfect for the rambunctious peculiarity of the Glade that it made you feel at home. You smiled, rolled up your sleeves, and got to work.
Your shift in the kitchen ended after lunch with Frypan shooing you out the door. "We've got this handled now, I swear. Clint and Jeff will kill me if I keep you late again," he'd said. Then he'd ruffled your hair and shut the door behind you. A second later, you heard a loud crash, a cacophony of curses from the cooks, and a hurried, "We're fine!"
You made your way to your next job. It was a short walk, just long enough for you to run into Chuck, who tried to tag along with you until Zart, in charge of the boy for the day, hauled him back to the Gardens; and Newt and Alby, who walked with their heads bowed in deep conversation, only looking up to give you a quick greeting.
Gally lingered by the Med-jack Hut, holding his left arm to his body. His eyes were shifty, his face sulky. When he saw you coming, his lips set into a grim line that could have meant he was relieved or pissed off.
"Hey, Gally, you doing okay?" you said brightly, opening the door.
Gally followed you inside. "Fine," he grunted. As soon as he kicked the door shut behind him, he thrust his left arm in your face.
It was drenched in red. "Woah, what'd you do there?" You took a reactionary step back so it didn't drip on you, then peered closer.
"Dumb Greenie. Can't use a clunkin' saw." Gally spat on the ground.
You clucked your tongue at him. "Not indoors," you chided.
Gally frowned but didn't spit again.
"Sit down, I'll fix you right up." You pointed to the cot. Gally followed your directions like an angry toddler: trudging to the bed, sitting down heavily, and letting out a series of irritated sighs while you searched through the drawers. The medical supplies were sorted meticulously by Clint and put into frequent disarray by Jeff. You guessed Clint had been here last because you were able to easily find clean towels, wipes, and antibiotic ointment. You cleaned your hands with a wet wipe, tossed it in the trash, then returned to Gally, your brightest, most eager-to-help smile on your face.
Gally scowled at the floor.
You pulled his arm toward you and went to work wiping away the blood with a towel. "So a new guy did this?"
Gally nodded.
"And how'd that happen?" With the blood mostly cleared away, you could see a long, skinny cut along Gally's forearm. It stretched from just below his wrist halfway to his elbow. Although it had clearly gushed blood before, the rush had slowed. You applied pressure while you waited for Gally's answer.
"Idiot said he could cut the board. Idiot couldn't cut the damn board." Gally gritted his teeth as you pressed harder.
"What are you guys working on right now?" Peeling the towel back, you took a peek at the cut. It had stopped bleeding so heavily, and you could see that it wasn't deep. You let out a quiet, happy hum, then traded out the towel for a wipe. You started to clean the cut, glancing up at Gally every so often.
"We're...uh...working. On the Homestead." Gally's eyes flicked to yours, widened when he saw you were looking at him, then shot back to the floor. "Just normal stuff. Not for anything."
You raised an eyebrow. "Yeah? Not for anything?" Gally's mouth clamped shut. He looked like he wanted to be anywhere but there. "The cut's not too bad," you added after the silence had stretched on for too long.
"So I can leave?" He tensed like he was about to bolt off the bed.
"No! I haven't even bandaged it yet. It's like you're asking for it to get infected." You gave him a light smack on his uninjured arm.
Gally looked affronted. "No, I'm not," he muttered.
"You guys are too tough for your own good sometimes," you mused as you started dabbing the antibiotic ointment on Gally's cut. He grunted in response, which you decided to take as him profusely thanking you for doing such a good job. You bandaged his arm with a smile. "All set."
Gally was striding to the door as soon as the words were out of your mouth. "Thanks," he mumbled.
"No problem!" You started cleaning up, trying to match Clint's keen eye for organization. You were just trying to remember if he stored the creams alphabetically by name or by use when you heard someone clear their throat. You turned.
Gally was still standing by the door. His hands were on his hips and he was glaring a hole into the floor. "It's good," he said, seeming to fight to get every word out, "that we have someone like you. In the Glade." He nodded sharply, then stomped out of the room.
Your chest warmed and a shy, heartfelt smile crept onto your lips. "Thanks, Gally," you said to no one.
The rest of the afternoon was uneventful. Somehow, not a single Glader managed to get injured. Not even Chuck! Or someone working in the general vicinity of Chuck! You’d organized and reorganized the supplies, and when that had become mind-numbingly boring, you’d practiced your sutures and leafed through the medical textbooks. As the sun dipped below the horizon, you headed to dinner alone. Neither Clint nor Jeff had come to get you. Usually one of them would take over while you were gone, or, if all the Runners were back and the Builders and Slicers had finished their work for the day, all three of you would walk to the kitchen together. Leaving the Med-jack hut unattended made you uneasy. You hoped you would run into one of the Med-jacks on the way.
You saw no one. As you neared the kitchen, the air felt too still. The Glade was too quiet, too devoid of all the noises people made as they talked and ate and allowed themselves to unwind. You knew the kitchen and the dining area would be empty before you walked in, but it still made your chest run cold to see a place that was supposed to be so lively be so dead.
Your mind raced as you left the kitchen. Was there a meeting? You started walking toward the Homestead, then running. Why hadn't anyone gotten you? At the back of your mind, in that slimy, creeping voice that you hated, another thought arose: what if the Creators had taken all of them back?
You ran faster.
Suddenly, the doors of the Homestead burst open, and Gladers came pouring out, calling your name. For a split second, you were terrified. For a split second, you thought everything had gone wrong. Then you saw their grins. You heard their happiness. You slowed down.
"What's going on?" you asked, breathless from exertion and shock and excitement.
Newt was at the front of the group. "The boys made a little surprise for you, love." He tilted his head back at the Homestead.
"They did?" Your heart had pounded with panic seconds before, and it kept its same quick beat, only now trickles of warmth began to fill your chest and small butterflies beat against your stomach. Newt moved out of your way, giving you a clear path into the Homestead. Boys lined up on either side of you, more peering out through the open door, and, as you walked inside, a motley group of Keepers and your closest friends waited for you against the back of the room. The group was so thick you couldn't see the wall behind them. Thomas and Minho were front and center, wearing matching smiles of mischief and glee.
"One," Minho said.
"Two," continued Thomas.
"Three!" they shouted in unison, and the group parted to reveal a door.
A new door.
"That isn't--" you started to say, and then you were pushed and pulled forward, and they opened the door for you, and you were inside of the Homestead's newest room.
Your room.
Your friends filled in after you. They wandered around the small space, excitedly pointing out the things they'd brought for you.
"You obviously need a better blanket, so I put my second favorite one there for you." Minho pointed to the bottom of the bed, a roguish grin on his face. Both of you knew that was his favorite blanket.
"And I folded it!" Chuck added.
"I read that the smell of lavender helps with sleeping," Clint said when you saw the vase of flowers on your bedside table.
"And I put them in a glass!" Chuck added.
"Brought some housewarming snacks!" Frypan shouted as he and the other cooks weaved in and out of the Homestead holding trays of mini sliders.
"And I helped bring them over from the kitchen!" Chuck added.
"Newt and I...uh...tried to make some pillows." Thomas scratched the back of his head. "We recruited Jeff to sew them up. I think they'll stay shut?" He smiled bashfully.
"And I helped stuff them!" Chuck added.
"Made a rug out of sheepskin," Winston cut in proudly.
Chuck did not have anything to add.
As the commotion swirled around you, and you nodded and laughed and thanked everyone, you felt a quiet presence beside you. Looking over, you saw Gally, who seemed determined not to stare back at you.
"I thought you said you were just working on normal stuff," you teased. Around you, the room was warm and full of laughter. Your heart felt so full you thought it would burst.
Gally shrugged. You figured that was all you were going to get until he said, “I came up with the idea for the window.”
The window was next to your bed. Its edges were crisp and neat, and, because they couldn’t make glass panes in the Glade, it was framed by wooden shutters so you’d be able to close it. Right now, it was open, and light from the setting sun streamed in and gave everything a comforting orange glow.
“I love it,” you said, and for a second you felt yourself getting choked up, all of your gratitude and care and love for these boys becoming overwhelming. You wanted to wrap all of them in a hug and never let them go, you wanted to tell each and every one of them that you appreciated them, you wanted to make sure none of them ever got hurt again. You wanted them all to know how much you loved them. But maybe, you thought, feeling all of them around you in this room they’d built and designed for you, maybe they already knew.
“It’s got something written on it,” Gally muttered. He nodded to the left shutter.
Swallowing back happy tears, you stepped closer, peering at the shutter's bottom edge. The words were neat, carved in delicate cursive that should have been impossible to do on wood. It said: Thank You.
You couldn’t help yourself. You started to cry.
Gally shifted uncomfortably before reaching out to give you an awkward pat on your shoulder.
You cried harder.
Then Minho’s voice rang out from across the room. “Check the other shutter!” he crowed.
Sniffling and wiping away tears, you squinted at the other shutter. There, painstakingly carved in elegant script on the right side shutter, was the word: Mom.
That slinthead.

An aromantic autistic reading of Joker Out's "Bluza"/"the Blouse"
I have a few words about Bluza. The Blouse.
When I first heard the title, I felt a connection to this song yet in a very tongue-in-cheek way. Because I read the working title was a nod to the white holed sweater blouse (the slut shirt) Bojan forgot at Jere’s place last autumn. But then thanks to JokerOutSubs I realized that this song really speaks to me in another way.
Disclaimer: I am speaking about this from an autistic aroace point of view and as a person who has masked most their lives and doesn’t drink. I hope to explain why this matters in the post below.
The lines that especially spoke to me are these: Ja ko pijana budala Ali čaše nisam popio Jamislim da sam se zaljubio u tebe
I’m acting like a drunk idiot But I haven’t had a single glass I think I’ve fallen in love with you
As a person who has spend most my life being critical about what to say, do, and how I show of myself to people I see the drunkenness described here not as literal but as a form of unmasking. When you find that one person you feel so comfortable around that you know that they won’t leave you or care if you stop being presentable in the eyes of society.
The result is that you may seem drunk and out of character when you are close to them. Drunk as in unlike yourself but also much more yourself. You dare to be authentic and to be silly and vulnerable because this person next to you gets you. No alcohol you could consume would fill you with as much giddiness as being with this person does. There is something about this one person that just speaks to you and let you know that you are safe.
While not having been drunk myself this is what I expect is the feeling most drunk people are searching for: the experience of not caring about what other people might think about them anymore. They just exist outside time and space in a bubble of bliss.
The person in the song is that for Bojan. His bubble of bliss – his safe space.
I’ve been lucky enough to have people like that too for small periods of time. And just like the next line I have felt very strongly connected to the person in those moments thinking “is this was love feels like?”. And here I don’t necessarily mean romantic attraction/love. I mean love as in a deeper, more profound level. The love that is outside of bodily desire. It is two spirits – two beings finding a home in the other person. A home where you can be giddy and drunk without having touch a single drink.
It is no secret that I love the idea of queer platonic love. When I read this, I read it as queer platonic. I read it as beautifully strange, brotherly, romantic, and platonic all at once.
The chorus kind of develops this feeling and adds and aromantic layer to it: Baš ja Koji nisam verovao Da za nekim biću lud
Yes, me who didn’t believe I would be crazy about someone
I read this as a very much an aspec experience.
You may have gone most of your life feeling othered for not experiencing those feelings of romantic attraction the world around you constantly tell you that you should.
Then this person comes along. This person that is your haven, that you can fool around with and open up around. There’s something that seems different, seems honest and so it brings you that feeling of bliss I mentioned earlier. That feeling the world around you have tried to tell you exists for years, yet you never believed would happen to you.
You may have believed yourself to be broken or maybe the world around you too much for seemingly being crazy about love. But now in this moment of bliss, drunk without having drunk, you get it. You want to be with this person, do all the silly things the media tells you are romantic. Not because you are forced to but because it would mean spending more time with your person. And every little second you can spend with your person feels like a blessing.
That is my take on the song at least. Thank you for reading.

— such a heavenly way to die
gn!reader | suna x reader
note from nia: i love kitchen dancing scenes and affectionate suna (said with a wavering voice as i grit my teeth and tear up and drag my nails against wood)
for @sunaslay's heart at home collab (that i think you should all join btw)!!!
"babe, i love you, and you’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me. but why—why does your cupcake look like that?" suna fails to stop his laugh as he stares down at your design. it's not like they had to look particularly incredible—it was only a get together with old classmates. but he licks some icing off of his finger as he waits for your explanation with the little lopsided face on your cupcake looking up at him.
you look over and pout. "what do you mean? you don't think he's perfect?" you pick up your creation and shake it in front of him, making rin raise his brows.
"i didn't say that. i'm just...also happy we have another batch baking," he says passing by you, planting a quick kiss to the top of your head.
"well, fuck you," you respond dramatically. "i think the others will love him."
rin makes a noise, in agreement or maybe just so you know he heard you. there’s not much to do with the oven still going and no cupcakes to decorate, a few beats of silence shared between the both of you.
but rin suddenly walks toward the speaker you set up, and you watch as he raises the volume and beginning to hum along the song playing. it only takes a couple of seconds for you to recognize the melody, and it’s easy to think of what to say next.
"i love the smiths."
rintarou breathes out a laugh, knowing what you were doing in a heartbeat. he turns to you with a slightly shocked and confused expression. "what'd you say?"
"i said i love the smiths." you tilt your head with a teasing smile.
you start to sing as the chorus hits, "and if a double decker bus." rin leans against the counter and watches you walk toward him. you reach for his hands and intertwine your fingers. "crashes into us,"—he takes your hands and places them around his shoulders, his own wrapping around your waist as you continue to sing to him—"to die by your side is such a heavenly way to die."
you look at him expectedly as you finish your line and his smile grows a little. rintarou’s never really been a singer, but if he was going to sing around or to anyone, of course it would be you.  "and if a ten ton truck," he sings, his voice starts soft and a little raspy. he gets a little louder with the next lines as he begins to sway the both of you around the kitchen. "—kills the both of us, to die by your side well the pleasure, the privilege is mine."
"there is a light that never goes out…" he mumbles along. you’re smiling at him when your timer goes off behind you. rin doesn’t attempt to move to get the cupcakes and you try to pull away. "rin, the cupcakes—"
"there is a light that never goes out," he cuts you off, voice louder as he pulls you toward the oven where the beeping continues. he uses one hand to turn it off, the other lifting to spin you. you try to let go after, but rin doesn't let you. he finishes the spin just to dance you away from the cupcakes again.
a laugh escapes you and rin grins before kissing your forehead. and he kisses you again, and again, and again on your cheeks and nose and lips, watching your reaction with a tightening hold around your waist. he continues to sing the last repeating line between kisses until the song's fade-out finishes, to no complaint from you. the both of you giggle as rin presses one more kiss to your temple before mumbling against your skin. “y’think i could draw the smiths on the cupcakes?”
“god, please—” you groan and rin starts to laugh loudly at his question and your face. “please do not try to do that.”
"no? they might match your little guy over there. maybe he's the secret member. you don't know," he teases you.
"yeah, yeah, the secret smith, whatever. i can sense your joke from a mile away you nerd. let's just finish these so we can go take a nap."
