I feel like I'm a weird combination of overly logical and also emotionally ungood and it balances out.
I'm pretty good at rationalizing when I find myself thinking or feeling bad. Like, I've logicked my way through (withdrawal caused) panic attacks before (it still sucked but I was disconnected enough emotionally that it sucked LESS. I do NOT expect anyone else to be able to do this and especially not with naturally occurring ones)

Imagine losing your rudder out at sea and sending out a distress call. And then the largest ocean-going wooden sailing ship in the world comes to your rescue. [...] To our knowledge it is the first time that an east indiaman, and the first time for Götheborg, to engage in such a rescue.
Tuesday last week, the 25th of April [2023], Götheborg of Sweden was heading for the upcoming portstop in Jersey. Just after 4pm, a distress call was sent by the MRCC regarding a sailing vessel that had lost its rudder and was drifting. Being the closest ship to the sailing boat, Götheborg answered the call. The sailing boat was towed after the Götheborg during the night from the 25th to the 26th of April. In the morning the 26th of April, a French search and rescue boat from the port of Paimpol came and met up off the French coast.
Text from the sailors on the sailing vessel Corto:
On April 25th at 01:00, we left Cherbourg and set sail for Camaret (the tip of Brittany). We are two experienced sailors on board (Simon and me) with the objective of bringing the boat to Southern Brittany.
At 15:30, we were at sea, more than 50 nautical miles from the coast, when our rudder broke. After sending a PAN-PAN call on the VHF radio, the three-masted sailboat Götheborg quickly responded to our call, offering to tow us to Paimpol (France).
We repeatedly emphasized that we were aboard a small 8-meter sailboat, but the response was the same each time: "We are a 50-meter three-masted sailboat, and we offer our assistance in towing you to Paimpol." We were perplexed by the size difference between our two boats, as we feared being towed by a boat that was too large and at too fast a speed that could damage our boat.
The arrival of the Götheborg on the scene was rapid and surprising, as we did not expect to see a merchant ship from the East India Company of the XVIII century. This moment was very strange, and we wondered if we were dreaming. Where were we? What time period was it? The Götheborg approached very close to us to throw the line and pass a large rope. The mooring went well, and our destinies were linked for very long hours, during which we shared the same radio frequency to communicate with each other.
The crew of the Götheborg showed great professionalism and kindness towards us. They adapted their speed to the size of our boat and the weather conditions. We felt accompanied by very professional sailors. Every hour, the officer on duty of the Götheborg called us to ensure everything was going well.
The next day, as we approached the French coast, we radioed for another boat to help us enter the port, but no one responded positively. Around noon, the Götheborg approached us as closely as possible and stayed by our side until the arrival of a French rescue boat to ensure that everything would go well for us before letting us go.
This adventure, very real, was an incredible experience for us. We were extremely lucky to cross paths with the Götheborg by chance and especially to meet such a caring crew.
Dear commander and crew of the Götheborg, your kindness, and generosity have shown that your ship is much more than just a boat. It embodies the noblest values of the sea, and we are honored to have had the chance to cross your path and benefit from your help.
We thank you again for everything you have done for us.
Sincerely,
David Moeneclaey (skipper of the sailboat Corto)

Common Dreams

Scientists are so alarmed by a new study on ocean warming that some declined to speak about it on the record, the BBC reported Tuesday.
"One spoke of being 'extremely worried and completely stressed,'" the outlet reported regarding a scientist who was approached about research published in the journal Earth System Science Data on April 17, as the study warned that the ocean is heating up more rapidly than experts previously realized—posing a greater risk for sea-level rise, extreme weather, and the loss of marine ecosystems.
Scientists from institutions including Mercator Ocean International in France, Scripps Institution of Oceanography in the United States, and Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research collaborated to discover that as the planet has accumulated as much heat in the past 15 years as it did in the previous 45 years, the majority of the excess heat has been absorbed by the oceans.
In March, researchers examining the ocean off the east coast of North America found that the water's surface was 13.8°C, or 14.8°F, hotter than the average temperature between 1981 and 2011.
The study notes that a rapid drop in shipping-related pollution could be behind some of the most recent warming, since fuel regulations introduced in 2020 by the International Maritime Organization reduced the heat-reflecting aerosol particles in the atmosphere and caused the ocean to absorb more energy.
But that doesn't account for the average global ocean surface temperature rising by 0.9°C from preindustrial levels, with 0.6°C taking place in the last four decades.
The study represents "one of those 'sit up and read very carefully' moments," said former BBC science editor David Shukman.
Lead study author Karina Von Schuckmann of Mercator Ocean International told the BBC that "it's not yet well established, why such a rapid change, and such a huge change is happening."
"We have doubled the heat in the climate system the last 15 years, I don't want to say this is climate change, or natural variability or a mixture of both, we don't know yet," she said. "But we do see this change."
Scientists have consistently warned that the continued burning of fossil fuels by humans is heating the planet, including the oceans. Hotter oceans could lead to further glacial melting—in turn weakening ocean currents that carry warm water across the globe and support the global food chain—as well as intensified hurricanes and tropical storms, ocean acidification, and rising sea levels due to thermal expansion.
A study published earlier this year also found that rising ocean temperatures combined with high levels of salinity lead to the "stratification" of the oceans, and in turn, a loss of oxygen in the water.
"Deoxygenation itself is a nightmare for not only marine life and ecosystems but also for humans and our terrestrial ecosystems," researchers from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the National Center for Atmospheric Research, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said in January. "Reducing oceanic diversity and displacing important species can wreak havoc on fishing-dependent communities and their economies, and this can have a ripple effect on the way most people are able to interact with their environment."
The unusual warming trend over recent years has been detected as a strong El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO) is expected to form in the coming months—a naturally occurring phenomenon that warms oceans and will reverse the cooling impact of La Niña, which has been in effect for the past three years.
"If a new El Niño comes on top of it, we will probably have additional global warming of 0.2-0.25°C," Dr. Josef Ludescher of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Research told the BBC.
The world's oceans are a crucial tool in moderating the climate, as they absorb heat trapped in the atmosphere by greenhouse gases.
Too much warming has led to concerns among scientists that "as more heat goes into the ocean, the waters may be less able to store excess energy," the BBC reported.
The anxiety of climate experts regarding the new findings, said the global climate action movement Extinction Rebellion, drives home the point that "scientists are just people with lives and families who've learnt to understand the implications of data better."

Sunken Temples of Aphrodite and Amun Found off Egyptian Coast
New discoveries off Egyptian coast reveal ‘treasures and secrets
New “treasures and secrets” have been revealed at the site of a sunken temple off Egypt’s Mediterranean coast, the European Institute for Underwater Archaeology (IEASM) announced in a news release Tuesday.
An underwater archaeological team, led by French marine archaeologist Franck Goddio, has made further discoveries at the site of a temple to god Amun in the ancient port city of Thonis-Heracleion in the Bay of Aboukir, the institute said.
The team investigated the city’s south canal, where huge blocks of stone from the ancient temple collapsed “during a cataclysmic event dated to the mid-second century BC,” the institute said.
The temple to god Amun was where pharaohs came “to receive the titles of their power as universal kings from the supreme god of the ancient Egyptian pantheon,” it said.
Tumblr media
“Precious objects belonging to the temple treasury have been unearthed, such as silver ritual instruments, gold jewelry and fragile alabaster containers for perfumes or unguents,” IEASM said. “They bear witness to the wealth of this sanctuary and the piety of the former inhabitants of the port city.”
The archaeological excavations, conducted jointly by Goddio’s team and the Department of Underwater Archaeology of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities of Egypt, revealed underground structures “supported by very well-preserved wooden posts and beams dating from the 5th century BC,” the institute said.
“It is extremely moving to discover such delicate objects, which survived intact despite the violence and magnitude of the cataclysm,” said Goddio, who is president of IEASM and director of excavations.
The discoveries were made possible thanks to the development and use of new geophysical prospecting technologies that can detect cavities and objects “buried under layers of clay several meters thick,” the institute said.

Relics from Greek presence, too
East of the Amun temple, a Greek sanctuary devoted to Aphrodite was discovered containing bronze and ceramic objects.
“This illustrates that Greeks who were allowed to trade and settle in the city during the time of the Pharaohs of the Saïte dynasty (664 - 525 BC) had their sanctuaries to their own gods,” the institute said.
The discoveries of Greek weapons also reveal the presence of Greek mercenaries in the area, IEASM said. “They were defending the access to the Kingdom at the mouth of the Canopic Branch of the Nile. This branch was the largest and the best navigable one in antiquity.”
The remains of Thonis-Heracleion are now located under the sea, 7 kilometers (4.3 miles) from the present coast of Egypt, IEASM said. The city was for centuries Egypt’s largest port on the Mediterranean before the founding of Alexandria by Alexander the Great in 331 BC.
“Rising sea levels and earthquakes followed by tidal waves triggering land liquefaction events, caused a 110 square kilometer portion of the Nile delta to totally disappear under the sea, taking with it the city of Thonis-Heracleion,” the institute said.
The city was discovered by the IEASM in 2000.

An Embrace at the Edge of the World
WC: 509 | Prompt: Edge | Rating: T | Tags: Established Relationship, Hurt/Comfort | @steddiemicrofic
Steve’s had his fair share of bad days at work. On a scale of ‘bad’ to ‘fucking awful’, he’d label today a resounding ‘pretty shitty overall’. Robin was out for the week- she was visiting family on the east coast- which left Steve to work with Keith, which actually meant that Steve worked alone while Keith smoked and sorted returns in the stock room. To make matters worse, it was two-for-one Tuesday at Family Video. Steve was faced with a steady stream of customers, which led to crowded aisles and the inevitable knocked-over endcap. On top of all that, he got chewed out by an older woman who was pissed about being denied the ability to rent (she had five overdue rentals, so Steve was literally not allowed to rent to her- it was company policy).
By the time he clocked out, he was ready to curl up in bed and have Eddie read him to sleep.
That didn’t happen, though. Steve got home, trudged up the stairs to his room, expecting that Eddie was already up there and strumming on his guitar (as was routine nowadays). Instead, he opened the door to find Eddie sitting on the edge of the bed, face in his hands. His shoulders were shaking, and muffled sobs filled the room.
Steve left his bad day at the door and crossed the room in an instant, taking a seat next to Eddie and wrapping his hands around Eddie’s middle. “Hey, baby. What’s goin’ on?”
Eddie turned, burying his face in Steve’s neck and wrapping his arms around Steve. “’S stupid.”
“No, no sweetheart. It’s not stupid. Not if it’s you.”
Eddie let out a wet-sounding, humorless laugh in response. “I went to the store today and some assholes started harassing me. I should be used to it by now, but… just got to me today.”
Steve leaned back to take Eddie’s face in his hands, inspecting him for any injuries. “They didn’t hurt you, did they?”
Eddie shook his head, his eyes downcast. Steve tilted Eddie’s head up with his hand, smiling reassuringly when Eddie’s wet eyes met his.
“You’re allowed to be upset, Eds. The way that you're treated- most people would leave town the first chance they got if they were faced with even an ounce of the shit that’s thrown at you every single day. You are the strongest man that I know, Eddie Munson. A man that I love more than words.”
Eddie’s face crumpled, indicative of another round of sobs, and Steve pulled him back into a tight embrace, running a hand through his boyfriend’s curls. “I’ve got you, baby.”
Yeah, Steve had a pretty shitty day. He could put all that aside, though, and be here with Eddie- sit at the edge of his bed, hold his boyfriend close, and remind him how much he was loved. Because in times like these, it’s just the two of them existing in their own little world- and at the end of the day, that’s all they really needed: each other.

Murwillumbah NSW
Demi a fan from Murwillumbah, in the Tweed Shire far north NSW asked Sam and Duncan about heading to Murwillumbah today and Tuesday. They were like deer caught in headlights 👀. She totally caught them both out.
I chatted with her and she is a girl in the KNOW! Demi was a very serious bidder for the t-shirts. In the high thousands. Just missed out. I hope she gets her beach photo with the guys.
They are headed there for sure. Perfect place to stay outside of Byron which is hectic.
Rounding out the East coast sojourn. Sam returning and Duncan first time.
Raes at Watego for lunch tomorrow?

In the pouring rain, upwards of 100 people marched outside of Warner Bros. Discovery’s Park Avenue South building Tuesday afternoon in New York as part of a themed Writers Guild picket that doubled as a promise to unionize east coast animation writers. “This has been a long, horrible battle trying to get animation writing covered. We are not giving up. I’m really just here to say that when the strike is over, when we have won the contract we deserve, we are circling back to animation,” Susan Kim, WGA East animation caucus co-chair and a writer/story editor behind hits like Arthur, Bubble Guppies, Courage the Cowardly Dog and Clifford the Big Red Dog, told a drenched crowd of picketers. “We are going to be back. We’re going to be better than ever. And we are going to get this goddamn industry organized.”

I'm going to do it.
This is going to be a final goodbye to you and the world.
I've been suc!d!al for almost a decade.Today is finally the day.I'm not scared anymore.
I just hope that people will be able to forgive me I don't want to hurt anyone I just want the pain to go away and it's foolish for me to think it will go any other way.
But I want to you to know that I care for you, all of you regardless that I don't know anything about you that you deserve life.
Try other ways to make the pain stop,it's hopeless for me but not you.
You still have a chance. You still have a chance to do everything.
Not just exist but live, truly live. Feel alive again. You could travel the world, make an actual impact in this distainful world we live in at the moment. Find meaningful connections. Find someone or something that will make life worth living, actually look for it.
Before I go a few things about myself. My real name is theo, though it technically isn't the name on my birth certificate, it is mine. I have green eyes and blonde hair. I have braces and glasses (near sighted). I'm somewhere between 5'3 & 5'6, I weigh anywhere between 150 and 125. I am a minor so do with that what you will. I struggle with depression anxiety and adhd, as well as asthma.
I have two rabbits, a guinea pig, a wonderful boyfriend best friend and multiple other friends that I appreciate dearly but won't name for privacy reasons, two brothers that I wish I knew better and wish knew me better, a decent mom and a wonderful dad. Three grandparents, two aunts, three uncles, and seven cousins.
I play dnd on Tuesdays and Fridays. Ride horses on Sunday. Am In a joke crab cult that was originally created by a now eighteen year old man on Tiktok that spread to my school by me. I go to school on the east coast in America. My absolute favorite band is the crane wives and my favorite songs by them are pretty little things, I ain't done, ribs and the hand that feeds although I love all of their songs. I like to draw and paint. I prefer the night over any other time cause I like the dark and being alone. And most importantly I love the woods, it is my favorite place. I will probably think of more which will be in the other posts
And with that I will send myself off with a few more set of posts that will show my life off of social media things that make me, me.
Also I apologize for any mistakes and errors.

Before Taylor Swift was sparking headlines about "squad goals" or attracting throngs of Hollywood stars to The Eras Tour, she and Dianna Agron were nearly inseparable.
The "Style" singer and "Glee" star became close in 2012 and were quickly identified in the media as "blonde BFFs." However, the following year, Swift and Agron suddenly seemed to lose touch. They haven't been spotted together since 2014.
Keep scrolling to see everything we know about the once-close pair.
They became friends while Swift was working on 'Red'
It's unclear how and when Swift and Agron met. In 2010 and 2011, Swift became friendly with "Glee" stars like Cory Monteith and Chord Overstreet, so it's possible the women were introduced by Agron's castmates. They both attended the 2011 Vanity Fair Oscar Party, but there's no evidence they interacted.
Swift and Agron were spotted in public for the first time on September 4, 2011 at a flea market in Los Angeles. Swift was between shows on the Speak Now World Tour, while Agron had recently wrapped a series of Glee Live! concerts.
By this time, we know that Swift was in the process of creating her fourth album because she had already written "All Too Well."
According to her diary excerpts (released alongside "Lover" in 2019), the beloved song was conceived in February 2011. She decided to name the album "Red" in September 2011.
Dianna Agron and Taylor Swift in 2012.
Tumblr media
January 7, 2012: Agron tweeted that Swift looked 'beautiful' on the cover of Vogue
Swift was photographed by Mario Testino for the February 2012 issue of Vogue, for which she was given retro-style bangs. According to a behind-the-scenes video, the photoshoot took place on the eve of her 22nd birthday.
"Taylor looks all kinds of 70's beautiful....and love a hat! Great job," Agron wrote on Twitter, tagging both Vogue and Swift.
March 25, 2012: Swift and Agron went to see 'The Hunger Games' together
A group of fans snapped a photo with Swift and Agron at the theater during the movie's opening weekend.
April 12, 2012: Agron shut down rumors that she was in a 'love triangle' with Swift and Tim Tebow
For some reason, in early 2012, tabloids ran wild with a theory that Agron was dating NFL quarterback Tim Tebow while Swift was harboring a "puppy dog" crush on him.
During an appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," Agron quashed the rumors. She clarified that she had a "10-minute chat" with Tebow and hadn't seen him since.
Kimmel also asked her to address her relationship with Swift: "Are you dating her? That would be great."
"Wouldn't that be juicy?" Agron replied, blowing a kiss to the camera and adding, "Hi Taylor."
April 24, 2012: They wore vintage gowns and flower crowns to celebrate Shirley MacLaine's birthday
Swift, who costarred with MacLaine in the 2010 film "Valentine's Day," played dress-up with Agron and two more friends in honor of the actor's 78th birthday. The small group shared photos of the occasion on social media, though most have since been deleted.
"We dressed up full-time fancy and went out in celebration of Shirley MacLaine's birthday," Swift wrote on Twitter, per E! News.
"Had a long day & don't know what to celebrate later…? Because you need a moment to be young? Find your moments," Agron added in her own tweet.
April 28, 2012: Swift celebrated Agron's 26th birthday
Tumblr media
Swift wore a tiger costume for Agron's circus-themed birthday party, which she called "the most magical night" on Twitter.
"The blonde BFFs have been spending a lot of time together as of late," E! News wrote.
May 15, 2012: They dined together in Los Angeles
Paparazzi caught Swift and Agron leaving Dominick's, an Italian restaurant in West Hollywood, after a Tuesday night dinner.
July 4, 2012: Swift and Agron spent the holiday in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts
Swift was spotted in the famous East Coast town during Fourth of July weekend, mostly hanging out at the Kennedy compound. She was accompanied by Agron and their friend Claire Kislinger (neé Winter), according to the Boston Herald and Us Weekly.
Kerry Townsend, the granddaughter of Ethel Kennedy, tweeted at the time: "Arrived at my Grandma's house to find her chilling with Taylor Swift and Dianna Agron. I hope I'm this cool when I'm 83!"
October 22, 2012: Swift released 'Red,' which includes a dedication to Agron
Swift is known for leaving coded messages for fans in the liner notes of her album. The secret message for "22" was four names: "Ashley Dianna Claire Selena."
In addition to Agron and Kislinger, these most likely refer to stylist Ashley Avignone and Selena Gomez. The song is about spending a carefree night with friends, though hints of ill-advised romance are sprinkled in: "You look like bad news / I gotta have you."
There could be another reference to Agron in the liner notes for "Everything Has Changed." The song's secret message is "Hyannis Port," where Swift spent some time with green-eyed Conor Kennedy that summer. ("All I've seen since 18 hours ago / Is green eyes and freckles and your smile," Swift sings.)
However, many fans have noticed that "Hyannis Port" is actually misspelled in the liner notes as "Hyiannis Port," which mirrors the spelling of Dianna (who also has green eyes).
The day that "Red" was released, Agron congratulated Swift on Twitter with a screenshot of her phone playing "Everything Has Changed."
Tumblr media
December 3, 2012: Swift and Agron both attended the Ripple of Hope gala
Swift and Conor Kennedy reportedly split in October 2012 after a few months of dating. However, later that year, Swift was still honored with the Ripple of Hope Award from the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice & Human Rights.
The annual gala was held at the Mariott Marquis in New York City. According to E! News, Swift had Agron "by her side" throughout the event. She also performed "Starlight," a song from "Red" that was inspired by Ethel and Bobby Kennedy.
"Was a beautiful night last night. The RFK foundation provides help to so many truly deserving," Agron tweeted. "Plus @taylorswift13 was truly lovely."
Tumblr media
April 2013: A fake artice, which claimed Swift and Agron were dating, went semi-viral
Shortly after Swift embarked on the Red Tour, a doctored screenshot from a fake tabloid began circulating on Twitter. The headline from Stars Daily, which does not exist, said "Taylor Swift is in a new relationship...but it's not what you expected."
"Country pop singer Taylor Swift has confirmed being in a relationship with Glee star Dianna Agron," the fake article continued. "Lesbi-honest! Right after the rumors were confirmed, the two were spotted out on a dinner date." (The attached photo was from Swift and Agron's dinner at Dominick's in 2012.)
On April 23, 2013, "Skins" actor Dakota Blue Richards tweeted about the rumor: "So apparently Taylor Swift and Dianna Agron are dating. Sorry Brangelina, you just got taken over as the worlds hottest couple."
Neither Swift nor Agron publicly responded to the rumor. But Richards' reaction seemed to increase its virality, and the following day, Agron deleted her Tumblr.
"Thank you friends for following the journey," she wrote in her final post. "But as an old chapter closes, a new chapter begins."
September 4, 2013: Swift, Agron, and other friends went to a Fun. concert
"Modern Family" star Sarah Hyland shared a video from backstage at the Fun. concert, which took place at the Greek in Los Angeles. Swift is featured in the short clip, while Agron is briefly shown standing off to the side.
"Watching @OurNameIsFun live tonight at the Greek was unforgettable," Swift wrote on Twitter, per Taste of Country. "Such incredible musicians and showmen. It was just SO good."
Two days later, Agron also tweeted an inside joke about the concert, tagging Swift.
This seemed to be the last time they intentionally hung out (at least in public).
October 27, 2014: Swift released the deluxe version of '1989,' which includes a breakup song called 'Wonderland'
The lyrics of "Wonderland" clearly reference "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland," the 1865 novel by Lewis Carroll. When Swift performed the "1989" deluxe track as a surprise song on The Eras Tour, she said it was a "twisted" take on the fairy tale.
In the song, Swift describes her muse as having green eyes and a "Cheshire Cat smile." She says they "fell down the rabbit hole" and got lost in Wonderland, all without considering the consequences.
"Haven't you heard what becomes of curious minds?" she sings in the pre-chorus, a reference to Alice's observation that "curiosity often leads to trouble."
Swift concludes in the bridge: "In the end, in Wonderland / We both went mad."
Some fans have drawn a connection between "Wonderland" and Agron, who has repeatedly tweeted about her love for Alice.
"I love 'Alice in Wonderland' and 'The Hobbit,'" Agron said in a 2011 interview with Elle. "Those books got me into reading and storytelling — I could escape to a different world."
Indeed, Agron reportedly had a Tumblr, deleted in 2013, that was called "felldowntherabbithole."
She also had a reference to "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" tattooed on her ribcage: "We're all mad here," which is a quote from the Cheshire Cat. Fans noticed that Agron was in the process of removing her tattoo in 2017.
November 23, 2014: They had a brief interaction at the 2014 American Music Awards
Tumblr media
Although she spent most of the evening with Karlie Kloss, photographers did catch Swift having a moment with Agron at the 2014 AMAs, where she also performed her single "Blank Space."
This was the last time Swift and Agron were seen together in public. Notably, Agron did not appear among Swift's many celebrity friends in the 2015 "Bad Blood" music video, which seemed to confirm they were no longer close.
October 5, 2019: Agron went to 'SNL' when Swift was the musical guest
Agron was photographed leaving 30 Rock after "Saturday Night Live" finished filming. Swift was that night's musical guest — she performed "False God" and the title track from "Lover" — but there's no evidence she interacted with Agron inside.
May 7, 2023: Agron was asked about rumors that she and Swift were 'in a relationship'
During an interview with Rolling Stone, Agron was asked about her influence on Swift's music, specifically "22."
"Me? Oh, if only! That's more because of a friendship than being the inspiration for the song," she replied. "But I would not be the person to ask about that. I cannot claim that!"
The reporter also asked how Agron felt about being "shipped" with Swift, which he explained as, "You two were made out by the media and some fans to be in a relationship."
In response, Agron described the speculation as "so interesting."
"I… I mean, there have been many stories about my dating life that are so wildly untrue. That's funny," she said.
