It was an ancient city that became famous for its brown wool and pottery.⁣ ⁣ Today it is home to the University of Gastronomic Sciences, which offers degrees in food tourism. In fact, there are many easy walks to go on whether it's up to Verrès Castle in the lower part of the valley or the Châtel Argent above Villeneuve at the upper end.⁣ ⁣ This is a photo I took while walking from the Castello di Saint Pierre to Castello Sarriod de La Tour. I like how the layer of landscapes here: from the orchard in the foreground to the Alps in the background. It goes to show how varied and spectacular the scenery can be in such a small region like the Aosta Valley.⁣ ⁣ 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲:⁣ ⁣ Catch a bus from Aosta heading to Courmayeur. ⁣ Canon EOS 250D | 18mm | 1/500s | f/6.3 | ISO 100⁣ Taken on 29/05/2021.⁣ ⁣ Located on the north-western tip of Parma, just 8km south of the River Po that marks the border between Emilia-Romagna and Lombardy, is a town rich in history called Busseto.⁣ ⁣ Busseto owes its importance to the composer Giuseppe Verdi, who was born in a nearby village called Roncole and who lived in Busseto for a great part of his life.⁣ ⁣ The 'Maestro', as he is known, still fascinates music lovers to this day. Even locals occasionally glance at the bronze monument dedicated to Verdi in 'Piazza Verdi', part of which I captured in this photo.⁣ ⁣ It goes without saying, then, that Busseto is the right place to discover the most significant sights linked to the life of this composer, starting from Piazza Verdi.⁣ ⁣ A visit to the 'Teatro Giuseppe Verdi', dating back to between 1856 and 1868, is a must as well as 'Casa Barezzi' where the composer lived with his wife, Margherita Barezzi. The house holds many relics – evidence of the education and future career of Verdi – autographed letters, iconographic documents, and original portraits of the Maestro and of his performers during the last century.⁣ ⁣ 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲:⁣ ⁣ Busseto is reachable by train on the Cremona–Fidenza line. ⁣ Canon EOS 250D | 18mm | 1/640s | f/5 | ISO 100⁣ Taken on 28/02/2021.⁣ ⁣ Located about 30km northwest of Turin, at the mouth of the 'Valli di Lanzo' (the Lanzo Valleys), is a little-known medieval town called Lanzo Torinese.⁣ ⁣ Here's a snapshot of 'La Torre civica di Aymone di Challant', which is all that remains of the ancient walls that used to surround Lanzo Torinese.⁣ ⁣ Stylistically, the tower is about 20 meters high and is a typical 14th-century fortification with its terracotta arch that contrasts the light grey stone. It's an impressive piece of architecture that still marks the entrance to the medieval borgo.⁣ ⁣ 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲:⁣ ⁣ First take a bus from Torino Porta Susa to Borgaro Torinese with 'GTT' and then take the train heading for Germagnano. ⁣ Canon EOS 250D | 110mm | 1/250s | f/16 | ISO 100⁣ Taken on 06/04/2021.⁣ ⁣ Even on a hazy day, the unspoiled scenery around Monferraro never ceases to amaze me.⁣ ⁣ Treville is one of many tiny hilltop villages dotted around this wine-growing area in Piedmont and offers a 360° panorama including the mighty Monte Rosa.⁣ ⁣ The village framed in the centre is Morano sul Po which lies on the other side of the River Po where the landscape begins to change dramatically: out with the hills and in with the paddy fields.⁣ ⁣ 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲:⁣ ⁣ Treville can be reached by bus on the Casale Monferrato–Ottiglio line with 'Gruppo Stat'. Situated between two of Italy’s most famous lakes, Lake Garda and Lake Iseo, Brescia is often overlooked by visitors who bypass the city itself and head straight to the undeniably beautiful lakes. A great pity, as Brescia boasts one of the most beautiful historic centres in the region, and some of the best Roman and Lombard remains in northern Italy.⁣ ⁣ As well as boasting two beautiful squares – Piazza della Loggia and Piazza Paolo VI – Brescia is the home of some of the best Roman remains in Northern Italy which can be found in the Capitoline Temple, constructed by the Emperor Vespasian in 73 AD. Alongside are the remains of the theatre, thought to have held 15,000 spectators in its heyday. It was in use as a theatre until the 12th century.⁣ ⁣ Last but not least, set in a salubrious park atop a hill, Brescia’s impressive castle is a great place for aimless wandering, soaking up views and absorbing a tangible sense of history thanks to the information boards.⁣ ⁣ In this photo I intended to capture three elements of Brescia: its past (the tower), its present (the bluish hills) and its future (the industrial zone).⁣ ⁣ 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲:⁣ ⁣ Brescia is about an hour from Milan and 40 minutes from Verona by Regional train.
