Its called a lovelock I think, not a rat tail
How dare you make that abomination sound so pleasant
But also-
I mean i googled it and it's closer yeah
Zhongli's hair would qualify as a rat tail more than Kaeya's
Love locks were apparently usually seen amongst european men though wich... Mondstadt IS based on Germany but Kaeya's a foreigner....? He was raised there so i guess it sorta works out until..
"A Lovelock was popular amongst European "men of fashion" from the end of the 16th century until well into the 17th century. The lovelock was a long lock of hair, often plaited (braided) and made to rest over the left shoulder (the heart side) to show devotion to a loved one.[1]"
It was usually braided. Kaeya's hair is Ganyu level of floof. Sure as hell ain't close to plaited... and i don't see who it's be showing devotion to. Diluc? If it doesn't necessarily symbolize romantic love, but a loved one as in a close friend or family member..? Then i guess it'd work? Like, devotion to his past relationship with Diluc, who he clearly misses. Various voice lines indicate that while they still fuel their deeply rooted rivalry/distaste for each other, they still miss their past relationship. Wich i can level with since i have a very simmilar situation to a past sister-in-law. Growing up together since age 3 and now we never talk to each other. Parents divorced, but most of all we've grown into total opposites and we're constantly at each other's faces. But yeah, i miss it, i miss her. If Kaeya's anything like that maybe he'd do that. Dramatic bitch. I wouldn't. That thing is still fcking...like what? On the side??? Can't he be a normal person and do it at the back like a horrifyingly long mullet-rat-tail? He has to go all dramatic european fair with it? I speak french myself and i am disgusted dear sir.
Buuut i think the people who designed him just. Did it. Though. Doubt they went that far. If it symbolizes devotion to someone else we don't know about from Kaeya's life then that's interesting i guess. Maybe it's there to play on his charming flirty side too. Who knows. As an artist, i'd say if they went that deep, props to them. Somewhat. They didn't really make it accurate. If it's just, there. Well. Whatever. Looked great until i noticed it 😔
Question becomes: if the emotional intent is not there, is it still a lovelock? Can i still call it an abomination either way??💔
