Kerry's situation is a very painful reminder of how fucked up the game's canon society is, even to the rich people. Which is maybe my biggest gripe with the game. A game where I'm not given even the slightlest chance to change shit around me, a game that's just so pessimistic and cruel in how it treats its characters, so hopeless, is not punk. but that's smth else entirely to talk about.

Back to Kerry. He's less suicidal at the end of the game when V reached out and helped some to sooth his trauma about Johnny, even if one could argue it's maybe just, well, putting him back where he started or indulging a toxic fixation. Depends on your interpretation. But his situation hasn't actually changed, he's still held by his label in a death grip, even if at least his current manager's supposedly out of the picture. But even that i don't believe. All we know for sure is that we burned his yatch. Like. Kerry tells us that his MSM Record manager (can't remember his name and be bothered to check) makes him drink on purpose to get him to sign shit, which is blatant abuse and all we get to do is fucking burn a boat? Let me make the dude a corpse, even if you make me have to work for it jfc.

I really love when fanfic writers actually address that issue btw, because it really hurts me to think about him being left in this bullshit. And in so many endings we know his situation is less than ideal even with V.

Kerry's profound unhappiness is visible in many ways: the state of his house, his insinuated addictions, his impulsive, self-destructive behaviors, his tendency to lash out and paranoia to assume people are against him, and overall defensiveness, his fear of the unknown, his clinging to fame, his refusal to see his kids, his mentioned and hinted suicide attempts. He's a guy who, at 89, doesn't seem to me like he knows what he wants, what he needs.

Personally, it both hurts me and makes me really like him, because I find him relatable in how he reacts to despair. In that aspect, I find him very well-written, even if a lot of shitty tropes and pop star stereotypes are used. Yes, pop stars one.

(One other thing that's devastating about Kerry is that he's a rocker, but he doesn't act like one, according to his own definition (which seems to really just be Johnny's shitty macho definition altho it's a whole label that precedes both of them in the TTRPG lore). Which wouldn't be a problem to me if he also didn't find the genre inferior to rock.)

But what fucks me up the most is that he's dealing with despair at all, when out of the four LIs, he's the one that has the safest, most stable life. Hell, he could even easily leave Night City and never look back, and still create, he's got the money for it, it might sound terribly materialistic of me but the man has enough money to just no longer be dealing with all this shit. But he's stuck there because even at nearly fucking nine decades of life, he's not yet felt seen, heard, or acknowledged. He's still scrambling for his roots and something to look forward at once.

Kerry is 89 and has the self-esteem of a 23 years old still.

If I just listen to my basest instincts, I blame Johnny for a lot of that, but that's the easy way, actually. If I actually think about it, Kerry's responsible of his own life too, and Johnny got nothing to do with how he feels out of touch with his Filipino roots, or him being a burnt out rockstar, Johnny is not that powerful at all, and mostly I blame Arasaka and the corps, and i blame the music industry in the game especially actually, i blame the media and the fans for how Kerry bit by bit stops feeling human in the spotlight, but the thing is, it's harder to be angry at those, even in game. Because we're not actually given meaningful ways to do something about inequality in game, and when you're unable to fight something, your brain becomes apathetic to it. It's just a survival thing. my brain does that a lot. i prize my anger a lot because of that (probably why i am so attached to Johnny tbh).

I think Kerry craves to be seen as the man he is, but his ways to try and fix that is to feed the demigod image his career upholds. I'm mad we can't do something about it, nor see the change he deserves happen. I'm mad a game with "punk" in its name is so hopeless and cynical.

Sometimes, Kurt will pretend that Finn isn’t gone, just away. He imagines that his brother is just back in the military or taking a gap year and traversing the pacific northwest. He’d always wanted to see the pacific ocean, after all.

How have you been? He imagines asking his step-brother. Are you bored with Lima yet?

Well, the weather ain’t been bad, Finn would say.

And then Kurt would snort a sort of scoff and retort with, Yeah, if you’re into masochistic bullshit.

Now, sitting in his car before his shift at the Lima Bean, Kurt realizes the well of imaginary responses from Finn has run dry. 

It should’ve been him. Finn shouldn’t have been alone.

Kurt knows he shouldn’t think like that, it’s not what his brother would have wanted. And god knows if Blaine ever found out the extent of his guilt he would do everything in his power to assuage it, but Kurt doesn’t deserve it.

He needs to feel it slither between his bones and constrict around his heart until he can no longer breathe. He needs it to press down on him until tears stream from his eyes and he’s got none more to cry. If he feels shitty it’s because that is what he deserves. Not the sympathy his friends have shown him, not the understanding he’s been granted from Carole, and certainly not Blaine’s healing love that Kurt knows would endure until their hearts expired.

It’s not an emphatic, purposeful decision at all. It’s not really a whim either. It’s just the sinking weight of dread. It’s the hairs standing on the back of his neck like someone is always watching him, judging him. It’s the tightness in his throat when the real world rips him out of his daydreams and reminds him that his brother is gone, and it’s all his fault. It’s the overwhelming realization that if he doesn’t get out, one day Kurt will die, too. He’ll die in the house he grew up in—in the home he wrecked.

For years, Kurt’s been fantasizing of getting out of Lima, but there was nothing tangible enough for him to follow out of it.

He shifts the car in reverse and starts heading west.

Turns out he didn’t need something to chase, just something to run from.

unfortunately, the horrific and unnecessary plotline of valentine/magnus body-switching completely put me specifically off of it for shadowhunters and especially when involving malec.

It had been a long week for travis with helping his father in the church, or going to work but he finally had a chance to relax and go out a get coffee.

Walking down the pebbled path of the cafe, a small chim of the bell rang when travis pushed open the blue glass door. The smell of coffee floated about in the air as he walked up to the counter.

"Hello how can I help you!" A young man asked with short brown hair and glasses "I'll have two regular black coffees" Travis said rolling his eyes at the punk style the man was wearing. "Okay! That will be ready soon. can I get your name" "Travis phelps." He said bluntly.

After getting his coffee and walking home travis sat on his couch thinking about the guy from the coffee shop. Something about him caught travis' attention wether it was his punk style or his pins on the jacket he was wearing but what ever it was it wasn't leaving travis' mind anytime soon.

For the past few weeks travis kept going to the coffee shop for one reason and that was the cashier but he refused to admit that was the reason. "Hello again! A regular black coffees?" (Y/n) said. "Yes...." Travis said grabbing money out of his back pocket. "How come you always come to this coffee shop i can tell you there are way better one...." (y/n) asked.

Travis' face was a slight red as he waited for his coffee to be finished. The more he waited the more he released that the cashier was the reason he kept coming to this shitty coffee shop. It infuriated him every time he thought about it. But he knew there was nothing he could do about his feelings not with his father still hovering over his life all the time....

oh im sorry anon! i know exactly how you feel with dentists and i do have a few things!!

i can offer some snippets of a more lighthearted and comedic brutim i have planned! hopefully you enjoy them!

but aside from that i do have some burgeoning ideas for brutim like how even before they get together, tim served as bruce's "voice" in a sense. as brucie bruce can't really speak his mind so tim does it for him <3. rejecting more alcoholic drinks because he's had enough. another thing is when they go out to a new restaurant and he orders for bruce because he has a habit of ordering things he thinks sound good but he won't like (so tim goes a few days early to try everything and scope out what bruce will enjoy).

tim just being overall very thoughtful and mindful towards bruce and his comfort which is what catches bruce's attention. tim knows that when bruce is in a slump or unhappy, or angry he can't make him feel less of those things so instead he does his best to make sure that bruce is at ease so he can work through those feelings.

tim just being the most considerate person in bruce's life and bruce falling for it ❤️❤️❤️❤️

and YES!! im a HUGE fan of dexdefyingstunts their tim fics are absolutely IMPECCABLE!!!!! and their soft and sweet series!!!!! just the overall tenderness present within a universe where its normalized for omegas to be “taken care of” by their packs! like its the perfect balance between gentle love and explicitness!! you can see in their actions and words that the alphas just want to help out their lovely little omegas that can’t help their biology <333!

BUT then adding in dimension travel!!!!! oh i cannot stress how much i LOVE that trope!!!! the canon bats and their purely platonic or familial dynamics being confronted with this- like to them so many things would be wrong, to them it’s be like ‘oh this is like a BAD universe, we’re not evil but everything else is just pretty shitty’. i love the contrast and drama brought about by their discomfort and how everything they stand for and believe says they need to put a stop to this, they need to save who they think are the victims. but this isn’t their universe and the general rule set up by the justice league is that unless another universe is an active threat to their own, it’s best if things be left alone.

but they’re still not happy because the canon bats are now sitting in a world so much like their own but with some pretty significant biological and societal differences. anything related to sex is hidden away and private

“so it’s shameful to you” they ask. a version of tim is in front of them so soft, so...young. they’re desperatly trying to ignore how they can see the red seam of his pussy where fingers are stuffed inside. the batman from this universe is casually speaking to them while his lap is occupied by a red-faced and panting tim. there is no indication that the action is forced.

if it was there’s not a single bat that would’ve stayed still but they don’t want another incident like what occurred when they first arrived. 

the sight of tim laid on on the mats, pants completely gone leaving him naked below as this bruce stuffed another finger into him, garnering a fresh flow of tears from his crying face.

to them it’d been clear what was happening. they reacted as they would’ve to the sight of an adult hovering over a child and touching them in an inappropriate manner.

“inappropriate?” this batman asks. “how is it inappropriate to alleviate a young omega’s suffering? do you know the health risks of an omega going their entire childhood without this kind of assistance? it could cause delays in puberty, contribute to an increased chance for depression and anxiety-”

realistically this batman could be lying. he could be just a perverse man who’s twisted this tim’s mind to believe that he needs this. he could be trying to twist their minds to make them think it’s alright. 

even while researching this universe they find information that corroborates this batman’s words. their are medical and pediatric journals published about what this batman is doing. 

they try to argue, point out facts about tim’s age, about how even in this universe his brain isn’t finished developing until he’s in his early 20s. there’s no way he’s mature enough to understand this. but this tim protests, saying he’s plenty mature and he can make as many choices as any omega!

it’s uncomfortable for them, not just because of the actions but because that’s their faces.

how can dick ever look at tim and bruce together again and not think of the sight of bruce fingerbanging tim who looked all of 13 years old.

bruce is also uncomfortable but for different reasons. he’s met other versions of himself. good, evil, neither, and something in between. bruce knows that just because he became a different person in another universe, it doesn’t necessarily indicate anything about him or his life.

but this batman...he can see the tenderness. the love in his eyes when he kisses his tim (on the mouth). there’s a gentle, parental air about him that contrasts so sharply with the image projected in front of them.

they’re all uncomfortable, the sight and being in that universe just messes with their heads.

tim, surprisingly, takes it the easiest. he can always reason himself into accepting anything. dick questions him on it when they’re back because they all see how bruce hasn’t made much of an effort to touch tim since they returned. no pats on the back no, small smiles. just an odd distance between them. it makes tim sad but he gets it, he tells as much to dick who’s still trying to process it all.

“aren’t you weirded out?” dick asks. “i mean that universe was kind of...intense.”

that’s a nice way of putting it. immediately after they returned they each drifted to their own corner of the manor and didn’t even look at each other until dinner.

but tim just shakes his head. 

“my parents were anthropologists, dick.” 

tim’s mom and dad always liked collecting artifacts more than they liked business meetings. it was their passion and when they were home they’d show tim some new piece they were adding to their collection. they liked to talk about it at the dinner table so tim picked up on those conversations.

“there’s this thing in anthropology when you’re studying a different culture, community that sort of thing. when you’re doing that you run the risk of finding something that clashes with what has been established in your culture as moral.”

adults fucking children, touching them intimately. it’s all around pretty firmly established as something very bad. yet in that universe, it was fine. encouraged even.

but it’s still immoral.

by their standards.

“when observing other cultures you can only determine or call something immoral so long as that society enforces that it’s unacceptable. if they don’t...well...”

tim remembers being nine years old and listening to his dad talk about the sambia of papa new guinea where boys his age are taken from their mothers and enter initiations to become men. initiations that could have people clutching their pearls and gasping at how “savage” they are.

“there are things in our world that are probably seen as immoral and grotesque not just by western sensibilities and standards but for other universes too.”

dick’s forehead is still creased, he’s biting his bottom lip. tim tells him about young boys who live in a culture that believes that to become a man you must undergo certain rites. rites like performing fellatio on older men in their tribe and being encouraged to drink the semen as often as possible in order to be virile. he tells about how anthropologists like his parents studied and asked the boys about what the most terrifying part of the rites were, and those boys who they expected to say some variation related to the sexual abuse- they said it was being ripped from the arms of their mother. 

to those boys, to those men, to that tribe, and in that culture. there was nothing sexual about the act. it was not an act of pleasure but one of duty.

that baman. that tim drake. 

it was simply a father caring for his beloved little child

“i do get it dick. those were our faces, that was us in another life but....but it’s not like we were the ones doing it.”

rather, shouldn’t they be happy to know that the tim from that universe was so clearly cared for and loved?

dick’s expression wasn’t satisfied, his eyes kept darting. and tim saw the brief flash on his face of disbelief.

tim decided to just leave it at that.

it’s not that dick was close minded. tim knew that but still...

sometimes he thought of that tim. thought of his blushy cheeks and his sweet smiles and how he clung to that bruce and that bruce clung to him back.

he thought of himself at that age. just as small but three times as desperate for his parent’s love.

it was weird. tim knew that but still...they seemed happy.

I’m kinda obsessed with how, like, okay so yknow all those otome-game-based isekai stories that focus on “villainesses”? I remember when I first saw them I was SO confused ‘cause like, Big Bad lady antagonists are not really much of a thing in otome games,, LIKE we’ve got a a few love rival-y minor antagonist girls out there, mostly in older stat-raisey full-out-dating-sim otome games that were never translated sdfjadldkjsfs but most of the high stakes Main Villain type roles tend to go to some sexy anime boy or weird little creature or unknowable force or whatever else, if anything I see the trope a lot of these isekai stories are playing off of far more often in like, shoujo manga from the 80s lol WAIT IM getting sidetracked WHAT i was going to say is im obsessed with how like, that one otome isekai story, the big famous one, is getting an actual otome game adaptation, i think that absolutely rules, i love it, its like art imitates art imitates art. the two paths have converged. the circle is complete

And I've been kinda annoyed because I feel like a lot of people there are really snobby about shounen and think ONE is making fun of it all the time. I mean he is sometimes but i don't think he always is. And they're always like "this is a deconstruction of blah blah" when shounen already talks about the issue. oh, anon. i have so much to say (read: rant). which should not come as a surprise since all i ever do is rant about how much of a cesspool the OPM subreddit is (sorry). not sure who you sent your other ask to, but i'd be curious to see what they have to say!

but yes, several people there are unbearably pretentious and snobby about shounen and desperately want ONE to be as pretentious and snobby as they are. a perfect example is how many people are like, "garou is Deconstructing The Shounen Trope of borderline suicidal training being a good thing." like, uh, no. what the fuck are you talking about?? (what irritates me about this one is that i know exactly who started this take, along with several other shitty takes, and seeing it grow like weeds is...god.)

the actual trope is "he pushed too hard and now he might cause himself permanent damage, because it's unhealthy." shounen goes out of its way to show how it's a character flaw, and a tragic one at that. so, basically, exactly what OPM is doing with garou. so no, it's not a fucking deconstruction. that is absolutely a shounen trope played straight. but people don't want to hear that their precious hyper-intellectual story might maybe, just maybe, not have as much disdain for shounen as they do. and that maybe garou doesn't exist to make fun of shounen protagonists (which i could also write a whole essay on btw).

like, uhh. naruto nearly losing his chakra altogether? sasuke literally going blind? gon pushing himself so hard he needs a deus ex machina to resolve his coma and then loses all his power? and midoriya is literally the poster boy of how self destructive this habit is, and he's one of the best known shounen protags ever. i could go on, but that’s just one of the “Shounen Bad” takes i see a lot.

shounen manga is flawed, and a lot of the tropes are silly. they sometimes prioritize battle aesthetics over substantive plot, and the characters can be shallowly written. but that doesn't suddenly mean everything about them is bad. i think ONE knows this. he absolutely plays with shounen tropes and laughs at them sometimes, but it's teasing, not malicious. he knows there's a time and a place to play shounen tropes because they're good.

this is also why the stupid ass "ONE isn't writing the story anymore" takes have started cropping up. these people cannot stand the idea that ONE actually does have an affection for shounen.

TL;DR you're right, and i've noticed the same phenomenon of pretentious users who use the subreddit as an outlet for their self congratulatory psuedo-intellectual masturbation. if it makes you feel any better, they're more of a vocal minority than anything.

fwiw I do NOT recommend the mdzs novel, and that's as someone who's been following the property since 2018. it's a well-written, engaging piece of literature that ultimately really disappointed me by emulating a lot of tasteless genre tropes I was hoping it would avoid. what you are missing is, basically, the explicitly gay content, and that explicitly gay content is BL; if you are not the kind of person who can deliberately ignore all the bad parts of a typical "fujo" targeted relationship dynamic you will not like the novel. I'm kind of underselling how bad it gets because I don't want to spoil your enjoyment of the show lol, I've had that happen with a few friends.

my friend said something to me once that summorizes why i like zukka and not zutara. like, she said most straight ships, people have to mold the character to fit heteronormative expectations. in zutara shippers heads, katara has to be a sweet girl who will heal all her brave and edgy boyfriend who took a lighting for her (also firelady!katara can fuck off). that is shitty and it doesnt fit neither zuko's or katara's character. gay shipps, in the other hand (1/2)

either m/m or f/f, dont have that problem. zukka is good because zuko and sokka fit each other perfectly. they both have different personalities. zuko is emotional and impulsive and sokka repress his feelings and is rational. they complete each other, and you dont have to change the characters or disrespect important parts of them to make zukka's relationship work. (sorry for my bad english btw). 2/2.

okay. so. i do agree that from pretty much everything i’ve seen when it comes to shipping katara with zuko, people want a more reductive, watered-down, tropey version of the characters. and shipping rot brain is definitely the cause for why people want them to fit some prescribed mold that canon katara and zuko would (and do) reject. 

but i don’t think gay people are exempt from shipping rot brain. even though i do think sokka and zuko are romantically compatible, i don’t think everyone who ships them truly understands why. shipping rot brain is a disease with no immunity, and thus, now that sokka/zuko is *shudders* popular (gay rights was a mistake bring back the phrase “no homo”) i can’t help but be inundated with almost as many heinous takes on sokka/zuko than i have been with katara/zuko in years prior. 

you mentioned fire lady katara, which is a decidedly racist trope. well, acting as if sokka would live in the fire nation full-time to be with zuko is almost as bad (i say “almost” because it inherently lacks the Misogyny, but like. still). so many people make claims and want things for a relationship between them that goes against their characters, and undermines the actual good writing of the show, the same way people do for katara/zuko, just applying different tropes. 

sokka/zuko isn’t better than katara/zuko because it’s gay, like i’ve seen some people imply (either in favor of or against said ship). katara/zuko isn’t bad because it’s straight, or even because it’s corny. i wouldn’t dislike a ship just because its shippers are terrible, because then i would also dislike bubbline just because people liked fitting them into an ooc mold (to be fair, you need a really high IQ to understand adventure time) and most ships, actually (i mean i do dislike most ships, but that’s a me problem). 

the reason i never vibed with katara/zuko as a ship is just because i don’t think they’d be romantically compatible. whereas i do think sokka and zuko could work as a couple, and i just try to ignore the people who agree with me for the wrong reasons (sigh). cause like, if i thought sokka was just boy katara, i’d just like or dislike both ships equally??? obviously, katara and sokka are two different characters, and are clearly established as having different beliefs, values, and personalities, and their relationships to zuko are different based on their roles in the show. 

frankly, i have much more respect for anyone who does not ship either because zuko is a colonizer (and besides, sokka already has the world’s coolest girlfriend (not to mention his ldr w the moon)) than someone who claims zukka is good because it’s gay but zvtara is bad because it’s straight. ultimately, i disagree that people won’t fit a ship into a tropey mold just because it’s gay, but i do agree that when it comes to sokka/zuko, they shouldn’t have to.

pros:

- the characters were lovely. cyn could’ve been a super boring perfect main character but actually I think they did a great job showing her “perfection” as actually being flaws that manifested themselves throughout the show so she was easy to like and empathize with. mark was an icon and frankly carried the whole show. mate was a cutie omg, again kinda “perfect” main character but just quirky enough that I really liked him :)

- a main female character that’s not stick thin (nothing wrong with it btw, just pointing out how it’s the thai drama norm), that’s actually a bit tan AND both of these traits are not commented on or mocked??? I frankly thought I was dreaming, the whole time I was waiting for them to insult her and when it never happened I felt sooooo happy which... is kinda sad in itself tbh. sure, cyn’s character is supposed to not be super attractive but still, I’ll still take the fact that they didn’t belittle her & ride this happiness until I die lmao

- this show honestly has some great lessons about dealing with grief, not being too nice, unlikely friendships, etc. &... honestly there were some moments I was pretty damn moved, almost cried a couple of times.

- the ship was super cute, I really loved how respectful they were of each other and that most of the show is a game of push and pull with one another.

- also they had cyn carry mate, like... full on carry his full ass tall man weight as a short woman and it was shown as cute & romantic??? and I’ve seen the trope used in two kdramas before, and it’s always bc the woman has insane strength compared to the man but here cyn doesn’t, she just has regular strength and is carrying her wounded man and frankly... that was so pure & cute and changed so much from usual thai dramas where the woman always needs to be protected by the man like a poor fragile being. it was nice to see that it went both ways & frankly I adore that scene, it was so cute!!!

- the show was fun and entertaining, even if each episode was 2 hours long (yes I’m insane)

- kinda super specific to off jumpol’s fans, but... off playing a ship with leo saussay :)))

- the acting was good except for mark (see the cons), and I feel like the actors both did great in over the top funny scenes as well as more emotional scenes, especially mate’s actor towards the end of the show, loved it.

cons:

- what’s a lakorn without its villains, right? well here the villains were so damn over the top I wanted to punch their faces in a couple of times. which I guess is the goal, but take it down a notch please lmao

- the whole show feels pretty childish tbh, which again I’m pretty sure is the point but yeah it did feel like I was watching a show for 13 years old at times which also constrated greatly with some of the heavier tones of the show. I think it should’ve picked a demographic and stuck fully to it instead of doing this half & half thing.

- as much as it pains me bc I really like mark as a character, his actor’s acting... wasn’t really it for me. it wasn’t terrible either & I genuinely felt like in the last few eps he’d gotten better, but it did throw me off a lot during the show bc he would be smiling instead of looking sad & I was disturbed lmao

- as most thai shows, sadly this one also portrays more effeminate gay men as inherently flirty, seductive and frankly bordering on harrassment which obviously fucking sucks & needs to stop. I’m not saying they can’t ever have an effeminate gay man be flirty, but it being the only representation of effeminate gay men in thai media is definitely problematic. especially since here it’s on a show that promotes equality and love towards others.

would I rewatch: probably not bc it’s hella long

Overall this was pretty fun & I did like how different from usual lakorns it seems to be. It had some good social commentary & also advice and I really enjoyed the characters. It’s not the best show ever but I would still recommend it!

But to boil down all of Lucas R’s time on the show to the (shitty af) Lucas/Kasim relationship is disingenuous, when in s1 he challenged the trope that gay dudes are underhanded little shits who want to ruin his crush’s relationship, a trope Eva invoked and he rebuked. And then, on his youtube channel, he covered things that even Skam didn’t cover, and on the topic of gay/Muslim relations, he and Amira had the best take on the bench scene on said youtube channel. 

I really don’t agree with you that Druck fans don’t criticize the show enough. I’ve even seen posts saying that Druck stans are so fucking intense and obsessive about calling out every shitty choice that it makes casual fans feel bad about enjoying Druck without noticing the flaws lmao. I really have no idea which Druck fans you’re talking about that “scream about how good their rep is without usually mentioning some of the issues” that you included, because that’s not at all my experience with Druck fandom. Hell, this was a fandom that had to be told to stop saying they liked s6 “despite its flaws” gvhvh. Druck stans will talk about David’s public outing until the cows come home, and lol Druck breaking winterberg up and including an eleventh hour female LI for Mia was such an unpopular choice that saying you like Victoria gets you side eyed.

Skam France is shit, but like, most of its stans know that and roundly mock the show for it? I think it’s mostly Elu stans who have claimed elu is better than evak. I honestly can’t think of many current Skam France stans who would defend the writing. (Either way I don’t really hang out much in the skamit, skamfr or wtfock fandoms.)

Once again, you’re making your question about quantity vs quality, because it’s not difficult for you to relate to/project on cis white mlm boys. So, for you, all these storylines are created equal and are equally relatable/projectable. And, once again, I will tell you that some people prefer to see storylines that reflect their own experience closer, such as a wlw or a trans dude sl. And yes, they will consider that better because they will like it more. I just can’t get over you calling people hypocritical for hyping up a storyline they see themselves in. If we all judged the writing in the Skams the way you judge the writing in (only) the remakes, none of these shows would pass muster. Not even Skam. In fact, Skam wouldn’t be near the top because, throughout the whole show, it kept mocking wlws in a way that a lot of the other remakes didn’t (including Skam France!!!). Like, you’d think for a show as praised as Skam for its gay rep, sexualities other than gay men wouldn’t be mocked (not even talking about queer women here!), and yet pansexuality is treated as the punchline to a joke in one of the two occasions the word is uttered! Once again, not mocking other sexualities is a low bar that a lot of the remakes you mentioned managed to clear.

Like I said, I like Victoria (I just find Tijan Marei such a delight tbh!) and I would like to see approximately 99% less legit criticism of her.
