Prefacing this by admitting I'm at the whims of hyperfixation when it comes to fandoms and I am apparently incapable of sticking to one. My interest in DMC came back and I have too many feelings about Vergil.

Vergil x GN Reader

summary: Vergil is there to protect you when a demon unsuspectingly threatens your life. content/warnings: SDT Vergil, canon-typical violence, angst with a happy ending (aka the only angst I will write) semi-fluff?

A sudden flash of steel enters your vision. Before you can so much as make a sound, a shadow is beside you. Vergil’s Sin Devil Trigger, Yamato clenched tightly between his claws as the blade clashes with a demon’s scythe-like arms. A sharp hiss rumbles in the demon’s throat as one of its bladed arms bounces harmlessly off of Yamato, though Vergil remains almost still. The only movement coming from his tail, as it wraps around your waist, ushering you behind him. The wings on his back stiffen, before unfurling slightly as the opposing demon rears back for another attack.

As if to shield you should the demon reach for you instead.

Unable to see past his Sin Devil Trigger’s bulk, you can only remain still behind him as both combatants let out a low growl. The demon screeches as it attacks. Vergil remains still, until his arms thrust forward in an instant. You hear the sound of the Yamato piercing flesh, followed by the demon’s cry of agony, gradually fading into blood-soaked gurgles as it’s split open by Yamato.

A thud rings in your ears as yourr would-be attacker falls to the ground, lifeless after a single thrust from Yamato. The tail coiled around your waist tightens its grip slightly, his shoulder still stiff, his grip on Yamato unrelenting even after the threat has passed.

You call out his name to no avail. His head doesn’t even turn to glance behind him. Whether it’s because he didn’t hear you or he’s ignoring you. you aren't entirely sure.

“Vergil!” You call out again, louder this time.

His tail squeezes you again, but still, he refuses to move. Without thinking, you reach forward, your hand touching one of his arms. You barely have an opportunity to feel the shudder that runs beneath his scales before he suddenly turns to face you. Blood is splashed across his face, his jaws parted slightly as his chest heaves. The glowering blue of his eyes slowly fades as he recognizes you, his grip on Yamato relaxing as he finally lowers the blade. Though his tail remains tightly coiled around your waist, unwilling to let go.

You swallow, your fingers curling gently around his arm. “I-It’s gone now, Vergil. I’m here, I’m safe.” Your voice comes out softer than you intend, but it still seems to reach him. Gradually, you feel the iron grip of his tail begin to loosen, one of his wings adjusting to drape itself over you. His eyes still glimmer their familiar molten blue, but less intense than before.

A soft growl rumbles in his throat before his tail finally uncoils itself from your waist. You release his arm as a shroud of darkness engulfs him. After a moment, the shroud fades, leaving Vergil standing before you once more. Now as the man you fell in love with all those moons ago, rather than his inner demon made manifest.

He remains silent, his expression as impassive as ever. And yet, you can see the familiar heaviness in his eyes. The weight of his nightmares on him when they become even too much for him to bear.

You close your eyes, loosening your inner restraint as you embrace him tightly.

He stiffens beneath your hands initially, before gradually returning your embrace. He brings your head to rest against his chest. A long-held breath escapes him as you gently nuzzle against him.

“I’m here now, Vergil.” You murmur softly, a similar heaviness filling your own eyes now as you will tears not to fall right now. “I will... I will always be here with you.” He offers no verbal response, but brings a hand to the top of your head, his fingers gently running through your hair.

“I know, little one.” He murmurs after a long silence, his voice strained as his fingertips scratch lightly against your scalp. You hum softly in response, knowing in your heart this is as vulnerable as he can be with you out in the open like this. It does not matter if any of the surrounding people fled at the glimpse of the first demon, let alone his Sin Devil Trigger. That feeling of being exposed still remains, a feeling that is all too familiar to you too.

“Let me take you home. You should rest after today.” He says, the strain no longer present in his voice. Gradually, he loosens his grip around you, letting you slip from his embrace as you give him a curt nod. You bring one of your hands to his own, gently squeezing it before he begins to guide you through the now barren streets.

I love seeing all these attumaxreaderxnamora anons! I've been hyperfixating thinking about those two for a while now 🤪😵

Just wanted to share a lil idea I've had lately about how the whole thing could start

For some context, I've always seen Attuma and Namora as frenemies, thus some sort of 50/50 between agreeing/tolerating each other and competing/bickering

1. So I feel like the first time they both saw reader they were both star-strucked by her; they both were left speechless by her beauty and strength

2. Being as blunt and possessive as he is, Attuma probably went after reader first; something clicking in his mind and making him go all mine, not caring about anything nor anyone else in the world; probably didn't even notice Namora also staring at her, he was just blinded by that pull

3. I have a feeling Namora is way more reserved and diplomatic? composed? than Attuma and as soon as she saw him charging towards reader, she could only roll her eyes at how much of a brute he could be (guess Namora is more sensual and gentle so she could be a "gentleman" like that lol)

4. Since Namora is not as blunt as Attuma, I imagine she kept her distance and observed, trying to gather as much information about reader as possible; however, that also made her lose leverage as she basically gave Attuma enough room to woo/court reader

5. Sensing defeat, I imagine Namora taking a rather harsh stance against reader every time she would be around with Attuma but only because she doesn't know how to approach her and also doesn't want Attuma to notice her having a big ol' crush on her; her being so distant and rather dry towards reader also comes from how jealous Namora actually feels, she's also possessive and she also saw reader first and she very well knows she could do a better damn job than Attuma

6. Sparring with reader would probably be the few times Namora has a chance to be near her, like physically near her; she would be so distracted by the way reader moves, her scent, the way her skin feels against hers whenever they clash against one another, and most importantly, by the way reader sounds; oh Namora would pay close attention to every huff or whimper or groan that would escape reader's mouth and would wonder if that's how she sounds whenever she's with Attuma...or if she could make reader sound even sweeter if she had her way with her

7. Eventually Attuma connects the dots and realizes Namora's harshness and distance/coldness towards reader is not because she doesn't like her but because she feels the same pull as him; being the cocky asshole that he is, I'm pretty sure he would tease Namora endlessly about it until she snaps at him and bickers about why would reader choose him over her

Anyways, these lil snippets have been driving me insane lately so I thought I might as well share them here hehe

And yes, I like drama and angsty stuff like that sue me

How Namora and Attuma would approach the reader is absolutely accurate! ASDFGHJKLKJHGFDS I mean, in my opinion Attuma is kind of the guy who would start looking for the reader almost like a predator goes after its prey (I think he would also use his size to put more emphasis on it, I mean we looked at it all the mask scene with shuri yeah?)

Namora would literally watch him from afar already understanding what plan he has in mind, and click her tongue at her palate in annoyance. In my opinion Namora thinks Attuma 'plays a little too much' with things, if I'm not mistaken she herself in the film tells him "Stop playing Attuma" after he kept challenging Okoye.

In my opinion, yeah, Namora would feel a little put off by Attuma's way of doing things, believing that there is no room for her in your heart. However, I don't think she's the type to drop the bone so easily. I think she would wait patiently (even without jumping for joy) for the right moment where you and Attuma have an argument or something goes a bit wrong between you two, to be able to jump in and support you in that difficult moment. Namora would support you at any cost, even if you are wrong to Attuma in the argument and I think she would say things like: "I would never have done that to you…" or "I would never have told you…"

Obviously your relationship grows stronger knowing that I would always have support from her and it is at that moment that in my opinion the challenge really begins between Namora and Attuma: who will be able to win your heart.

ive been thinking about his costume. i was never totally stoked on the most popular rendition of it, and i think its just because baron draxums shapes are completely incompatible with leos shapes... hes still so much fun to draw, and the clashing was actually addressed by huginn/muginn, when they were discussing the new dark green color of his uniform. it "doesnt look right" on him, so i suppose he wasnt meant to look like leo anyways.

I’ve been on an eso hyperfixation for a while now and Feylith makes me so happy, she is currently my main comfort oc and I am rotating her in my mind like in a microwave at all times. She is actually a part of an extensive family of ocs I made for eso and its youngest member (age-wise) as of now. Raised in a Telvanni mushroom tower by two mothers and being the youngest of three sisters, she is generally shy and aloof, but has a kind heart. She is a trained mycologist and alchemist and loves travelling across Tamriel cataloguing foreign fungi and flora; yet she always finds herself entangled in some adventure or another. She is my main eso oc and I ship her with Verandis because he deserves some happiness in the world. :3c

She never really fit in with her clan much, keeping spirits and forest animals as her company. She romances Solas because I love suffering and I am all here for the big bad wolf / soft and kind woman vibe I just want to punch Solas in the mouth and also kiss him.

It’s not that she is mean by choice or intent, Odetta simply cannot stand fools, tardiness, or incompetence. She is brutally honest, follows a personal code and has a sense of lawfulness around her. She believes she is doing the right thing and she has no time to consider other people’s feelings. She is also a very hot evil mommy and she can step on me anytime.

She is my go-to oc and an inspiration behind a lot of others. In fact, she could be considered as a base source I base a lot of my other pink soft and gentle ocs around or a multi-verse oc. She is a fey abandoned at birth and raised by a mortal family. It goes without saying that in p:wotr she chooses the Azata mythic path. She has been known for having very vivid dreams and Desna often contacted her through visions, leading her towards Kenabres and her destiny. Faerene’s story is a story about self-discovery and realizing one’s self-worth. In a way, she is an inspiration to myself as well.

I don’t talk about Dorothea much, or dragon’s dogma for that matter, but she is very dear to my heart. She has selective mutism and often keeps to herself. Known as The Lady of Moths, she has a peculiar ability that allows her to speak to moths (specifically, and only moths) who often whisper the events happening around the world to her. She and Grigori, the big bad dragon, are both connected souls and partners destined to clash together again and again, only to earn a brief respite in the afterlife before the Cycle begins anew.

It’s not that she is actually dumb (she is a quite smart mechanic but there are different types of intelligence, obviously), it’s the stubbornness and the absolutely crazy and strange drive which propels her to dive into any dangerous situation with her head forwards, guns blazing. Fay has strong determination to not let the Wasteland break her and her enthusiasm is contagious. She is here to turn the Commonwealth into a better place and helps people in need without thinking. Also, she is physically impervious to flirting and Hancock needs to blatantly tell her he likes her only for her to go “Ah he is just nice.”

Alethea is one of my favorite ocs of all time. She is a plant-based necromancer and a healer who lives in a witchy cottage in the middle of the woods. Being a seeker of knowledge, Alethea managed to collect a lot of books and scriptures on a variety of subjects. Despite being a necromancer, she is quite a talented healer as well, folks seeking her for her remedies from time to time.

Artvsartist2023 for the year!

You can tell I seriously hyperfixated on Sleep Token this year heh. And of course Sonic is still there. Not gonna lie, its funny seeing these two together on the same board, feels like they clash esthetically. Although, as I've been gravitating toward a darker pallet due to my Sleep Token art, I feel it might have rubbed off on my Sonic art? I've definitely changed up my rendering style. Maybe next year I'll focus on refining that style to be more cohesive.

PRIME SPOILERS about shadow & sonic's dynamic because i have MANY thoughts o(-(

@hot-topic-wannabe made a post about this already (that puts is super well), but im actually obsessed with shadow's characterisation myself and didn't want to hijack her post lol.

i really like how we got to see the progression of shadow's frustration and anger. he gives sonic a chance to answer, and sonic jokes around and teases shadow. they push each other's buttons and piss the other off and its so perfect imo!!! i liked how we got to see sonic's actions and how it trigger's shadow own opposed to 'shadow got mad and then acted completely irrational and refused to listen to reason.' shadow WAS trying to reason with sonic. he's the only one who can truly keep up with him. he doesn't immediately antagonise sonic, he just tries to get him to SLOW THE HELL DOWN.

like hot-topic-wannabe already wrote much more intelligently than i can put it, i think it came from a place of respect. at no point in prime was shadow in a "im the ultimate life form, y'all are below me" mentality. sonic fucked up because he was impulsive & shadow responds accordingly, because sonic just destroyed their home (or so they think/we know so far).

their communication style clashes, baby! prime!sonic is impulsive from emotional triggers and doesn't listen to logic once he ramps up. shadow ramps up from not being listened to/answered logically, causing his frustration to get out of control. they are the end to each other's beginning, etc. etc.

i mentioned protag bias in another post, but shadow really isn't in the wrong---we're just experiencing sonic's pov throughout the show. shadow was just wanted an answer, and he provoked sonic and didn't approach him in a way that would make *sonic* listen. sonic can't communicate with shadow when he doesn't know him & the interaction is started *by shadow*. so they fight. an eye for an eye; it'll never stop unless they both communicate, which i'm sure is going to happen next season since the fate of the shatterverse is kind of up to them atm.

shadow clearly gets frustrated when sonic doesn't listen. i can't imagine how he's feeling, ignored in the void, after sonic's impulsiveness and inability to listen just destroyed what he had. we already know in past (good) characterisation that shadow reacts... passionately. it just depends on which character's pov we look through on whether his actions are "good" or "bad." even then it's not that simple.

anyway im SUPER EXCITED to see where this goes. this is some of the best writing we've seen of shadow in AGES. sorry if there are spelling errors on here/it's a little all over the place as i no longer have spoons. im running on knives and sonic hyperfix fuel.

OHHHH my god pls i’ve been waiting ages for someone to ask. this is long sry. im kissing u on the mouth btw

ok realistically i know a perfect hyyh live action would not be how i imagine it bcs it hinges so heavily on specific korean working-class experiences which a good soundtrack would help emphasize. and unfortunately i dont know enough about korean culture circa 2000-2010 to build smt truly loyal to this vision. so obviously my playlists are incredibly self indulgent and tailored to the music i listen to and very much wips anyways so obvs not perfect :’))

REGARDLESS tho i think an effective hyyh soundtrack should ground the characters in the setting and express the conflict between their ideals and desires vs their reality. i think it would need to be used to anchor characters in their own and their parent's past in a way that still feels very modern? and a good way to do that would be to play around with american music. seok-jin spends time in america and very well might be american, my heart of hearts tells me yoon-gi loves jazz as well as hip hop, hell even just the fact that bts' style came from a lot of american influences makes american music smt that could rly help build that clash between the low-income korean setting and the trapped and hyperfixated-on-utopia characters if used correctly.

as for when each song in my playlist would come in, it depends! some are there for vibes, others are there for rly specific reasons and i could write whole essays for each but here's some commentary on a fave few <3:

dr dog - where'd all the time go: my perfect hyyh adaptation would explore seok-jin's american identity/non identity much more than the notes. i picture this one as an credits scene of him landing back in seoul from the states circa 2010

st vincent - laughing with a mouth of blood: mostly vibes but i can see as seok-jin refamiliarizing himself with song-ju and slowly hears how everyone is doing now

bruce springsteen - backstreets: mostly vibes but i can see it as a tae-hyung song, same as most of the 70s music on here

j cole - for whom the bell tolls: an introductory nam-joon scene, maybe 17 december year 21

f+tm - back in town: on seok-jin's walk home after his drink with nam-joon on 14 july year 22 (in my perfect adaptation seok-jin is in love with nam-joon. nam-joon knows this. seok-jin doesn't. they stay not for each other but bcs of each other)

AAH HI!! i literally woke up today thinking about jsab (and ja&b especially) and im really excited to see this ask because despite how long its been i still love talking abt it

Swears is okay! they've still got a crack from being shattered, but that's about the worst of it and they're proud of it because "haha yeah that sucked but i SURVIVED >:D"! the original plan wasnt for Sovereign (powered-up Sovi) to be able to full-on shatter TIO: instead they would've forcibly depowered them and everyone would've had to split up again to find another way. except when i started drawing the panels i changed the plan on the fly and had to run with the consequences

the reason Sovereign was able to shatter TIO in the first place was a mix of "Sovi is using the entire treeangle to power themself" and "Swears stole a fraction of their power". so, enough to transform, but not the same as having two triangle pieces making them completely invincible against Annihilate's single piece.

Friend's happy to have Swears back and as themself again, although they've still got some stuff to work through - something that came up a couple of times and that i wanted to focus more on sometime as part of Friend's storyline was how they were more prone to temporary shattering (and got completely knocked out of the fight against Annihilate) and how they felt useless compared to Swears as a result. when Swears seemingly got perma-shattered again, Friend tried to take up their mantle as the reckless afraid-of-nothing one.. except that also fell flat.

the plan was for this to eventually pay off with Friend helping Cube's sister Anvil (who'd gotten teased a couple times) against the next big threat and holding their own without Swears's help! and Swears would've realized how they contributed to Friend's insecurity (eg the argument they had in Clash that caused Awoo to get dunked) and do the whole "you don't need to prove yourself to me, i already know you're awesome" thing and try to be more outwardly supportive

me and my co-muns had a LOT of plans for how justasksandbeats was gonna go, but constant tech issues + burnout + life issues + general strife with the fandom combined into me not being able to do it anymore. if the other muns are okay with it though i can probably scrape together a recap of what was gonna happen! or at least the broad strokes of it, i tried to keep things loose to account for anon intervention or my own tendency to write on the fly :p

thank you so much for enjoying it!! despite the difficulties (dear god, the difficulties.. my poor tablet and computer...) ja&b was a lot of fun to make and it means a lot to me whenever people bring it up. glad to hear people are still discovering it even today!!

Okie so the last for now of my new mianite head canon's (unless anyone wants to hear my new capsize or nadeshot head canons)

It'll be easy to think that Ianite's weapon is a sword after all the sabers often weilded by her followers are well feared but their weapon of choice is a bow. Every ianite devotee is trained to wield a bow in both long range and short ranged scenerios. Ianite's follows were historically nomadic and use of the bow for hunting and defense is deeply ingrained in them. Though their nomadic lifestyle and ... unique sense of morals often leads them to acts of piracy or banditry living in tightly knit groups where the strongest of the group would either set sell to plunder or leave their campsites to raid and steal supplies. Though the worship of ianite was never widely spread outside kf these communities so the goddess was often forgotten by the wider world. Of course some worked honestly becoming traveling peddlers. This changed when a group of former pirates found a small set of islands and began to build there first a temple to their goddess the first in the overworld (before this ianite was worshipped through small shrines that were brought along everywhere they went. Seeing her people attempting to make a home for themselves ianite came down to those islands and blessed them offering her heart so that the land would always remain safe. And this land became known as Ianarea.

Sparklez is a bit of an enigma. No one is quite sure where he comes from. Some think he's the last prince of a kingdom fallen to ruin, a child of a merchant killed by bandits, some even claim he's a monster wearing human skin as a disguise. As a young child he traveled to many places and trained his skills all alone. Once while on the road he was taken in at a temple of mianite where he met the young Jericho who he became fast friends with and, often found himself clashing with worshippers of dianite including a particularly violent acolyte named synhd who he also grew quite close too over their many heated battles. Sparklez respect grew for him especially more each time as even if he cut down all of syn's friends or fellow acolytes syn would seem to get stronger or manage to fight harder than before. There was even a time that syn almost managed to talk the young sparklez into becoming a dianitee but he never quite agreed to join up. He also had the offer to join team mianite but he always felt the call for something else. Something inside him a voice or a feeling that pushed him to continue wandering. Just when did he become the champion of ianite.

Firstly, I love the lore you've written for the background of Ianite's followers I think it works so well, especially them being nomadic and that being why Ianite is less known than her brothers. Using the bows to hunt and survive (and probably also to rob people given the whole piracy thing). Like it works so well that their goddess would start to be associated with the weapons they use to provide for themselves rather than the one that outsiders see them as most skilled at using.

I also love them settling Ianerea and Ianite placing her heart there, like it adds so much to the wreck of Ianerea if it was destroyed so Dianite could get her heart.

Yes yes yes to mystery boy Jordan making friends with Tucker and enemies to friends with Tom. Also I really really love Ianite being an established goddess that Jordan joins despite knowing nothing about her, like its really funny to me but I also love it.

I definitely wanna hear the headcanons you have about Capsize!!! I'll be happy to hear about Nadeshot too (though Capsize is such a big hyperfixation character so she is the one I'm so so excited to hear about)

guys my mbav hyperfixation COMPLETELY died down but i want to continue talking about it anyways bc of how fucking small this fandom is.

soo early 2000′s scene kid rory and early 2000′s nerd benny (the way he is already but LIKE... AMPED UP)  glasses!benny and noglasses!rory even before his vampire transformation they would have. so many clashing opinions. benny would call rory’s music trash and then turn around and play mcr when no one else is around to hear it (spoiler alert, rory can, he is a fucking vampire and your headphones are loud, benny.) arguing about science but rory tries to make everything fandom or supernatural related bc.. he wants to. there is no valid reasoning or arguments he just likes fucking with benny at this point.

bringing artist!rory into this bc its something i hold so near and dear to me. rory drawing fanart of his favorite bands and benny secretly thinking theyre fucking AMAZING but refusing to say anything. pining from afar benny. oblivious rory. lets goo guys im so braindead right now i only have this as a small offering

college au hcs college au hcs !!!

we always talk about les amis studying what they canonically study but what about cosette and eponine !!! (even though i have no knowledge about how college works in america, forgive my british self)

- cosette 100% does something in social sciences like anthropology but then has a dual degree with something that seems random like classics or art history but it makes sense for her despite everyone thinking its cliche that the new money girl that came from a very poor background but elevated socially with her dad majors in anthropology especially since she’s dating marius and ep’ and everyone’s like « oh yeah she’s dating pontmercy of course she’s into social studies » but it goes so much further than wanting to right the wrongs of society !! she wants to understand why people are the way they are and how povs clashes between metaphysical and physical experiences and she loves debating and getting everyone’s opinion and every point of view she can on every event which is why she loves history as well because everything is factual and it allows her to be grounded in something and to have the stability she needs. also she has a greek mythology and ancient politics hyperfixation so it was just the obvious study path for her

- eponine on the other hand is a woman in STEM ill always be an engineering ‘ponine truther !!!! she either does mechanical or electrical engineering because she likes building things and feeling useful and she always pitches the best ideas in her group projects and assignments!! she gets internships so fast and every factory wants to hire her for their internship she’s literally THE woman in STEM !!

Cosette has ALWAYS been a dual major in my heart, I've always felt she would go into law or something adjacent after Valjean told her the story of her mother right as she's deciding to leave home to go to college, and from that point on she's determined to become a public defender of sorts to make sure people get help the way Fantine wasn't able to, but she also loves history (i'm obsessed with the greek mythology thing wow) and decides to make that her other major in that and hopes to someday retire from being a lawyer and work in a museum. her minor is either dance or theatre because she's been taking ballet since she was a kid and she's really good, realistically she could go join a company or something but she wants to LEARN (plus in my head all of the Amis are doing SOMETHING in the arts, even just recreationally, and that how they mostly all met)

I LOVE Ep as a kickass STEM lady yessssss I love it. Personally I'm leaning towards her getting into like cyber security or something, since (because of her parents) she knows how people hack and steal money really well, and she even though she doesn't really have the money or a formal education background the school just lets her in once they see how proficient she is and they try to keep plausible deniability by not asking too many questions a la frank abagnale jr. She really likes what she does and likes feeling like she overcame her shitty background to do something really useful in stopping criminals from hurting people, but mostly she's in it for the money. she wants to buy a big ass house for her and gavroche to live in and a few guest rooms for everybody, with more than enough fine clothing and furniture and food whenever they need it, never having to worry about going without and doing it all on the up-and-up. That's really Ep's biggest dream, is to be successful and provide for herself and gavroche without having to resort to crime the way her folks did when she was young, as a way to prove to herself that she's better than them (everybody already knows she is)
