VOW BETWEEN MAN AND STAR
Tumblr media
A/N: not me starting a new WIP. All my current works are staring at me with the surprised Pikachu face rn. As you all know, I do most of my fic planning in the shower, and last night, I was wondering whether I'd ever write anything as angsty as Phantasmagoria. My brain said "bet," and lo and behold, Vow Between Man and Star was born.
CW: This story will be extremely NSFW/18+. It will be incredibly violent, angsty, tragic, (but funny), and of course, smutty.
I will upload a synopsis later today, but I don't want to dull the impact of the prologue, included below.
Without further ado!

Tokyo
July 1, 1995
The early morning air was already thick with summer's humidity when he felt the mark form.
Giyuu shot up in his bed with a gasp, blankets sticking to his sweat-slickened body. His good hand instantly seized around his right forearm as he felt a phantom blade carve a single mark into his skin, right beside the others.
Though covered by his rigid grip, the mark burned a bright blue, its glow seeping through his fingers like a siren light on a police cruiser; a warning.
All of his marks had emitted the same, blue light when they'd first appeared, though the tally's nine siblings had long since faded to silver, nearly blending in with the pale skin of his arm. But they'd scarred nonetheless.
Scarred to remind him of the nine times he'd failed his comrades; failed humanity.
Failed her.
In making that vow, he'd doomed not only himself and his seven fellow Pillars to walk the years of the earth alone, never changing or aging, but he'd doomed her as well. He'd damned her to a repetitive loop of birth and death, fated never to age past twenty-five -- the same age she'd been that first time, when, on the precipice of death, he'd begged for the life she'd already lost. And his desperate wish had been granted; he'd secured her ten lives for them to try again -- to try and find the King of the Demons and rid the world of his and his monstrous creations.
Ten lives, the disembodied voice of a star had told him as his heart slowed, all those centuries ago, when he'd cast that last, feeble plea out into the ethos. Ten lives, in exchange for ten Moons.
Nine had been wasted; in nearly every life, he'd found her, and he'd loved her, and he'd lost her; always too late to save her before some calamity, or from Kibutsuji cornering her, this woman who possessed the knowledge to destroy him, and tearing her limb from limb.
The closest they had come to defeating him had been some seventy-odd years prior. They'd been at the pinnacle of their strength, and they'd just managed to breach the gates of victory when Muzan Kibutsuji pulled one final trick; he'd merged with the young Sun Breather -- Tanjiro -- and managed to rip her head clean from her body right before she'd been able to excise him once and for all.
Giyuu's eardrums had burst from how hard he'd been screaming as he watched his beloved's head thud uselessly to the ground, while his former friend licked her blood from his fingers.
He wondered when he was finally permitted to die, if he would even be allowed into heaven, for having damned the woman he loved to suffer, time and again, each death more violent than the last.
Giyuu spied the early hour of the morning displayed on the small alarm clock resting on his bedside table -- 4:07 AM.
Time had begun for her once more, somewhere in the world, where she'd arrived with a mighty cry, only to be quickly bundled in soft, standard hospital blankets and handed to a relieved and exhausted new mother.
He would have to alert the others; as he'd come to learn over the previous nine cycles, she wasn't even guaranteed to reach adulthood, let alone the level of power she'd need to take on Kibutsuji. She would need her watchers.
So, as the hot, relentless burn of the newest mark faded to a sharp sting, the blue glow winking out beneath the press of his hand, Giyuu found himself kicking the covers off his trembling, clammy form, as he prepared to dress for the day.
Because that tenth mark signaled his last chance had arrived.
His last chance to destroy Kibutsuji.
His last chance to help save humanity.
His last chance to save her.
The sand in the final hourglass was already pouring; and they had work to do.
Tumblr media
Someone ask me how I decided to make Giyuu the love interest bc I find it hilarious.

Thing is though-- would Midnight exactly know if Fallenleaf did take away something precious? Unless Sol was originally in her Pantheon she really has no idea where he came from, so she doesn't have any idea what to exactly to teach Fallen. Teaching Fallen Math equations might be Midnight's way in figuring out if the being Fallen locked away is Sol, Star Flower, or something else. If she started off strong she might've taught Fallen the wrong thing then we could of had One-Eye popping up instead of Ashfur at the Lake.
All four gods are from the same pantheon, they're the ones who broke orbit together when the religion ended up splitting into several different groups.
The Lake Religion's death is a good contrast to the Ancestor Rat curse that happened to SkyClan. The Lake Religion split up into several groups and drifted at various points, contributing to Hengest cats, the Guardians, and the Tribe. It didn't have a crumble quite as dramatic as SkyClan's Exile, or a Cloudstar who carried out his life's work even in death.
So Lake... Lakethiesm? Laketheism "died" a standard death. There wasn't a mass collapse, it was split and continued in several groups, the largest of which becoming the Tribe of Endlessness, which also contributed to StarClan. Most of its ancestors fades peacefully, thanks to Half Moon.
So the four seasonal gods are very aware of each other. Midnight and Sol even refer to each other as siblings, but I don't know if it's literal or figurative yet.
And yeah no that means that Midnight is very much dancing around the point, it's not galaxy brain scheming to meaningfully test Fallenleaf. Middy's not really a good planner outside of the mathematic understanding of how physics will interact. She's the least likely of the four to do that, really
The girlie will literally summon a perfect rainstorm to cause a flood and make a branch fall in the water so that two cats will be harmlessly carried to her house because she's lonely and wants company... but be surprised pikachu that one of them saw her badger-face, hissed, and bopped her nose.
She IS good at interacting with Sol though. When he came to ask her about when the True Eclipse was going to happen, she was able to convince him into following some game rules, which he was playing by for all of Po3, HC, and OotS. No mass destruction, no direct murder, no plagues.
So Midnight's not entirely unhelpful. It's just that she really wants to avoid topics that are too heavy, half because some of her questions involve self reflection, half because she is pretty desperate for Fallen and Cinder to not want to leave.

Tumblr media
Kojiro “Joe”  Nanjo
Small warning: talk of injuries but its in a light hearted and teasing way, nothing graphic
Alright
See this guy
He’s gonna think its impressive
Clapping, cheering, the whole bit
You can probably sense a but coming
BUT
He’s watching and he’s like
That cant be THAT hard
Ahaha yeah. Sure joe
So you scour the internet trying to find him a pair for 2in heels (start a little easy on him)
They usually dont make heels in his size but dammit, youre stubborn, you find some. Theyre international shipping so you gotta pay the extra money and wait a little longer, but he tested you and now he gets to reap the benefits
Honestly, i love being petty with kojiro because he wouldn’t get upset he just matches your energy
So these heels come and you take him to a skate park on a less busy night when there aren’t any teenagers around. And bring a helmet just in case
“I haven't worn a helmet skating since i was sixteen!” “I know, and you got a concussion two weeks later. Wear it”
So he does, but makes fun of you for it endlessly
Until he falls on his ass coming down off the halfpipe and slams his head into the concrete. So he was happy for it then
Now he just has a bruised butt and ego, but no bruised BRAIN
(dont get concussions kids, i did and it was not fun)
He gets up, dusts himself off, and grumbles something about how he put his foot in the wrong place and he’ll get it next time
(he’s not used to the gap between the heel of the shoe and his toes. Makes a difference)
After making some excuses he tries again. Falls again, and this time its because “the shoes aren’t broken in”
Several tries and excuses later, he gives up and puts his sneakers back on. He respects your ability a lot more after that
Tumblr media
Langa “Snow” Hasegawa
Shocked pikachu face
Not much more i can say
Langa is a man of few words and i think he’d just stand there staring at you
You decided to show off to him & reki at the skate park randomly one day (they were very curious what the shoes were for) and pull a couple small tricks on the board
Reki’s all sorts of excited and cheering for you because he’s never seen someone DO that before
Langa just. Sits there mouth slightly open
(gets made fun of for it gently lol)
When youre done and skate back over langa begins spinning you around and checking you for injuries or anything because “that can be very dangerous” and he’s worried about you skating in shoes that are not meant to be skated in
But when he’s finally satisfied and knows that youre okay and didn’t pull anything he’s slightly smiley
“That’s very impressive”
“Thanks, langa”
Proceeds to talk about it for the next SEVERAL days with reki, but doesn’t tend to bring it up with you. No one’s sure why, but he just cant stop singing your praises when you’re not around
Not out of malice, he just does that. Talks a lot about the people he loves when theyre not there. Cute habit of his
He thinks youre so cool though and loves to watch you skate when you put your heels on (or just watch you skate in general

Others have already been furrying the Raincode characters and doing a phenomenal job, but when I would peruse Danganrompa fanart I really liked seeing different and wildly varying interpretations for the characters' animal choices and now it is my turn, my GOD GIVEN DUTY TO PROVIDE IN THE GENISIS OF THE RAINCODE FANDOM, FOR THE HONOR OF THOSE WHO HAVE COME BEFORE ME.
For all of them I used their pose from the artbook renders. I'll say it's to keep them recognizable but that is actually a lie I'm just lazy.
Secretary Bird Halara:
Halara I did first and they were the one I was most jazzed to do because I love them dearly. I made them a secretary bird and I think it's a PERFECT fit. Ahem allow me to rattle off. Secretary birds are birds, so doomed by the narrative to have to stay away from cats, they are predatory birds and of course Halara would be at the top of the food chain. Speaking of predetory birds, secretary birds are known for their ability TO KICK VENOUMOUS SNAKES TO DEATH, AND THATS JUST TOO GOOD A FIT. They also have plumage that I could easily shape into Halara's kinda smooth swoopy hairstyle, and face markings that could be sort of representative of their glasses! I think the drawing for them is probably the weakest out of the group just because as I went along I improved and started to translate the human designs in less one to one ways, plus the pose Halara has in the artbook doesn't fit perfectly to the really big wing hand things. I still enjoyed making it because H A L A R A N I G H T M A R E but I'm honestly kinda sad at how lackluster it is compared to Fubuki and Viva who got the most interesting details and texture work. NEVER DO YOUR FAVORITE FIRST IT'S A TRAP.
Guinea Pig Desuhiko:
With Desuhiko I was going back and fourth between a few rodents, I just think he kinda looks like one and already had those pikachu cheeks. My first scetch made him a hamster, and while it DID look like him, it felt a little too... Indistinct. Desuhiko's probably my favorite design in the cast just because he looks so distinctive and has a short stocky bodytype I really really love and makes my character designer brain happy, so I swapped hamster for guinea pig. While the guinea pig face doesn't look like him quite as much as the hamster, they are very interesting and distinctive looking which I loved a lot more even with a bit of accuracy sacrificed if that makes sense. Also there are Guinea pigs with spikey wild fur that make it so I could just kinda give him his actual hair and still have it make sense. Guinea pigs are also the perfect size and shape to be thrown like a large softball and out of all the Master Detectives Desuhiko looks like he'd be the most sadisfying to chuck across a room.
Fish Fubuki:
Fubuki was really hard just because it's difficult to anthropomorphize a fish in the same way as a mammal or a avian cause of their structure. She might look a biitttt more like a fantasy creature inspired by a fish than just a fish but she's charming enough I don't completely mind. I got some SOLID advice and looked at some Splatoon NPCs characteristics to try and make her more appealing. So why fish? I got it as a suggestion that I ended up really liking because fish are notorious for their bad memory, live in tanks their whole lives(Fubuki is the definition of sheltered), and they have fins to mimic the shape of Fubukis cloak and hair. I used beta fish for reference, they don't really fit her but just being a fish was good enough for me and at that point I was prioritizing looks. She doesn't even really look like any specific species like the other three to be honest. She's defiantly the outlier of the group but that's fine, she can be special in her own unique way like always. Got a little lazy with making the hair look all that fin-like, but it's kinda the main event of her human design so I wanted to keep it as true to that as possible but looking at it now I think its tooooo copy and paste looking. Her furry design IS my brothers favorite out of the batch so that's gotta count for something!
Flying Fox Bat Vivia:
The vampire looking man was always gonna be a bat, I am but a slave to the whims of fate. I made him specifically a flying fox because they're the largest bat species and therefore can loom ominously. Vampire bat would have been fun too, but they have more of a squished bastard energy that doesn't really fit Vivia. Bats also are known for their weird sleeping habits, ala upside. Viva isn't sleeping upside down or anything like that but he DOES snooze in some weird places so I think comparing him to a bat in multiple aspects is very apt! His drawing and animal design is probably my favorite, I really like the wings, and the bat feet are super weird I loved doing those. I did have trouble incorperating his hair, flying foxes have pretty smooth heads, but they do have sort of a mane thing going on so I tried to put some of his hair texture and shape there instead. Sorry I did not give him is edgy edgy hair cut, I too love it very much but it was simply not to be. I did try to mimic it's vibe with the patterning on his head though, an illusion of his bangs.
I'm very happy with this lineup overall, they're some neat little designs if I do say so myself! I might do more but I have the chronic problem of not being able to sit still for a long time to do a BUNTCH of guys again(though for the record I would make Seth the most delightfully storm drain gutter looking creature). I also kinda wanna do Makoto and Yuma cause someone suggested a REALLY good idea for them, but the concept for Makoto with this idea would be more of an involved design that I wouldn't be able to use all of his normal outfit for so it'd probably take longer than average.
TLDR: Furries amiright?

goh starter trio meta perhaps? i was ensnared by the goh-scorbunny parallel subpoint in the cubone meta bc i'm making myself unwell thinking about how scorbunny latching on to goh and goh latching on to ash.... but also more generally, sobble's whole thing and the absolute tearjerker drizzile evolution episode, and goh's weird ass dream about his rillaboom parents and then waking up to baby grookey clinging to his arm, you get it, i know you're galaxy brained about this
YESSS I AM *SO* GLAD YOU ASKED!!
so my tl;dr here is that all of the galar starters represent something about goh specifically relating to his childhood. their growth and eventual evolution (or lack thereof!) therefore serve to highlight his character development (as an aside, i think this is a very common theme in anipoke. ash's pikachu not evolving speaks to the fact that ash's growth isn't about becoming someone new but about staying true to himself and embracing a battle style that reflects the creative ingenuity that, in the early os, other characters mocked him for. similarly, dawn's piplup chooses not to evolve because it doesn't want to change how things are between them. does this not seem fitting for the partner of someone like dawn, who has always admired her mother so much that she never even considering doing something other than following in her footsteps? i'm sure there are other examples, but these seem to me the most obvious ones!).
let's break down each one, then!
scorbunny
when we meet scorbunny, goh is still determined that mew will be his first pokemon. this is a point of stubbornness that, while impressive and arguably kind of admirable, is frankly kind of stupid. how is he supposed to get to mew without any pokemon to help him? there's an interesting implication in this resolution, which jn004 and jn005 really highlight for us - goh isn't comfortable with having a pokemon. he knows a lot about them, is interested in researching them, but as far as the bond between pokemon and trainer goes, i don't think he feels prepared for that. it's easier to pick a target that is far from reasonably attainable for him at this point, especially since he does have some history with mew - didn't it take an interest in him? didn't it give him a reason to chase after it?
so meeting scorbunny, he's obviously not thinking about catching it. but he lies to the guy at the scone stand, in an interesting parallel to how scorbunny steps in to protect the nickit. he doesn't even seem to know why he does it. but just before that scene, he sees scorbunny wipe some of the dirt off its face. he doesn't get the whole story and connect all the dots until after, but i think he realizes then that scorbunny is trying to hide itself in some way. that it's performing as something it's not. and on some unconscious level, that motivates him to lie for it. after, we get this whole exchange, where the scone seller tells ash and goh the story
Tumblr media
and this note is what makes goh get up and approach scorbunny and the nickit:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
it's very symbolic that he wipes the mud off scorbunny's face. and then later, he even points out when they see it again that it looks better without all the mud covering it up - it looks more like itself. it's not pretending to be something it's not. goh wiping the mud off its face is him saying that he accepts it as it is. that being resigned to living a certain way just to fit in or just because that's how it's always been is pointless.
and i mean...even ash says in this scene that the things goh is saying are things he's only recently learned himself, right? goh denies it (and tbh when he says that he's always thought the world is big and anyone can explore it if they want to or whatever - i don't think that's untrue! i think it's just that, prior to meeting ash, he didn't have it in him to explore it), but ash has a point. and what goh is doing for scorbunny here is the same thing that ash did for him.
relatedly, scorbunny follows him, right? in the same way that goh "accepts" ash as his friend, scorbunny chooses goh as its trainer. goh recognizes that it travelled far for him, that it saw a vision of its future with him, and changes his mind about not catching it. i think the determination he saw in scorbunny to chase after its dreams resounded with him, because he's only just started doing the same thing. and his entire character is built around this idea of like, learning how to adapt and how to let other people help you find the courage to chase your dreams (and even to help you chase them). how could he possibly deny scorbunny the same thing?
but while scorbunny's enthusiasm helps motivate goh to chase his dreams, he is very flippant and dismissive, as we see when it learns ember and he says it doesn't matter, that scorbunny doesn't need to know a fire-type move and this gut-punch of a line, of course:
Tumblr media
goh is someone who needs a lot of convincing to do things he doesn't think he'll be good at (or enjoy). he only joins project mew because gary goads him into it. he spends most of his life refusing to make friends, because he had one bad experience. he's a fairly black-and-white thinker, which makes sense considering his background. he doesn't really believe in change. he especially doesn't believe that people (or pokemon, in this case) can change their circumstances just through hard work and determination. as we see in jn003 with the ivysaur, he also doesn't think that it's anyone else's place to intervene and "help" others. if you can't change something, then don't. and there's no point in hoping it'll change on its own, either.
when scorbunny storms off here, his expression is interesting. this isn't the expression of someone being judgemental. it's the expression of someone who sympathizes.
Tumblr media
he sees scorbunny trying so hard to do something he thinks it can't do and thinks that scorbunny's determination to change things is, if i had to guess, kind of immature. a lesson scorbunny will have to learn, whether it wants to or not. at first it's kind of endearing, but then he actually gets frustrated, because he feels like scorbunny's determination to learn ember is harmful to them both. here, there's a degree of "why won't you just trust that i know what's best for you?" for sure, but on a deeper level, i think that stems from a place of "can't you see that i'm just trying to protect you?"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
...but obviously, all he really does is wind up lashing out and hurting scorbunny's feelings. he tells ash that he was trying to draw out scorbunny's strengths (and he was, by telling it to use moves it was already good at!), but ash points out that their values weren't aligned and that's kind of the opposite of strength when it comes to pokemon battling. so he reassesses the situation and finds a way to bring out scorbunny's strength that also aligns with what scorbunny wants. that compromise is what makes scorbunny evolve. it was the right call! but then raboot starts ignoring him.
and this is like. a running gag with scorbunny - goh gets distracted by other things and doesn't notice that it's trying to show him things. it happens when they meet and it happens again in this episode with its ember. we see something very similar with goh and his parents in jn032 when he's excited at the prospect of their vacation together, but when he tries to ask what they want to do, he turns around and find they're both asleep (and we see the flashback of something similar happening last time, too).
with raboot, in a lot of ways, goh is grappling with...himself. or at least, the person he was before he met ash - cold and distant, more interested in doing whatever he thinks is worth his time than in school, for example. so if goh saw his child self in scorbunny, he sees his more "adolescent" (i mean. he's still ten so still child, technically. but older child lol) self in raboot. and he actually responds to this in a way that's a lot like how we see his parents responding to him. in jn022, we see him
buy a bunch of apples for raboot, even though he thinks it doesn't need them (and is hurt when it doesn't let him have one, despite raboot seeming pleased that he bought them for it). compare to the device he shows horace in jn032, for example, which he says his parents built for him. or his six computer monitors. his parents reach him best through material means!
question why raboot hates him when it's not responsive to his overtures. contrarily, goh's parents don't think he hates them; they just automatically assume the worst case scenario (like in jn015 when he calls and they immediately wonder if he did something and got kicked out of the institute). but while that's their worst case scenario about him, raboot hating him is kind of goh's worst case scenario, right? it took him time to open up and accept scorbunny as his partner. now that it's evolved and is acting differently, he's terrified that he came to care for it only for it to leave him.
which leads to my last point here, which is that he doesn't actually ask what it wants. in this episode, he concludes that raboot would be happier without him. so he leaves it behind, but he never actually considers how it might feel. goh's parents do the same thing! they worry about him, but they don't share their concerns or ask how he feels. they just assume that he must feel a certain way and they adapt to compensate for that. but they never actually ask him what he wants.
this episode ends with him realizing that he hasn't been reacting to raboot's feelings so much as to his own, of course, and we see their relationship smooth out quite a bit. he's acknowledging that he's done things wrong, but also that it's not all his fault - and raboot's change in temperment is just a consequence of it evolving. they accept each other again and move on.
then, it evolves into cinderace and kind of opens up again more (though it's been doing that little-by-little since jn022). i think the fact that raboot and riolu evolve at the same time was a really cool move by the writers to kind of demonstrate how like...the relationship between ash and goh is reflected in the growth of their pokemon. they trained together! in a way they kind of grew up together! riolu, ash's token baby pokemon in jn, evolving at the same time as goh's starter feels like a very deliberate choice to highlight how ash helped goh's pokemon grow, too - through getting the ball rolling with how he helped goh grow as a person and a trainer. if that makes sense?
anyway, i don't have much to say about cinderace, other than that if he saw himself as a child in scorbunny and as an older child in raboot, then cinderace's level of openness and its enthusiasm aren't just reflexive of it getting back more of its scorbunny-esque personality - it also shows how goh has changed and has learned to embrace these parts of himself, now that he's in that "coming of age" age (well, for pokemon. he is still only ten lmao).
i think we see something similar with his other starters, though maybe a little less on the nose.
sobble
the drizzile episode, as you mentioned, is probably Thing here. but i think the theme with sobble is sort of that, where scorbunny maybe reflects more of the way goh thought about growing up and his aspirations (and how hard it was to open up to people), sobble more so mirrors his social experiences at school and with chloe.
VISUALLY, i think it's really telling that when goh catches sobble, he's...literally speaking to it from the other side of the water:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this whole episode (jn028) is about goh kind of...forcing sobble into positions it's not necessarily comfortable with, and not realizing that it's uncomfortable until it runs away from him. as we saw with raboot, this is a common theme with goh - but it's most obvious with sobble!
he realizes, of course, and says this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
even in flashbacks, goh never comes across as a shy kid. he doesn't exactly relate to sobble, but i think he's drawing a parallel here between them. he wasn't shy, but he was always on the "outside" - that's why he's so good at researching. he strives to see things as they are without getting involved. eventually, this is something that will make him a pretty thoughtful and strategic battler, though at this point he's still learning how to apply that to more than just research for the sake of research.
and then after sobble meets inteleon, we have these bits too:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
goh's childhood motivations on the surface appear to be like...he doesn't want to bother with friends, because they aren't going to be able to serve a purpose for him. he isn't interested in making friends with anyone who is less into pokemon than he is. but after what happens with horace, it seems to get a little more complex, and then we have to wonder if his motivations really were that surface-level to begin with, or if, maybe, his policy of not making friends has always been a way for him to protect himself from betrayals like he experienced with horace.
we see chloe as early as jn001 trying to convince him to make friends, to no success. she doesn't even refer to herself as his friend - he doesn't seem to be willing to let her. he believes he doesn't need friends and is better off alone. but he doesn't realize until after meeting ash that his solitude is more of a self-imposed exile, in that it's hurting him more than other people. he can't improve as a person and reach his goals if he's too busy trying to protect himself to accept that he needs help from other people to do those things. so, again - i think he sees that side of himself in sobble. so it feels very impactful that he reaches out to help sobble become a better battler, but rather than forcing it to battle in a way that makes sense to him, he comes up with a way to have it train that plays off of its strengths of running and hiding.
and then, of course, there's the episode where sobble evolves, jn062. the writers themselves do most of the work here of drawing the parallel between goh's childhood and how drizzile is feeling, but i think it goes even deeper than that. drizzile is unhappy because it wanted to evolve into inteleon, not into drizzile. it's not comfortable in its own skin. and it doesn't necessarily want others to see it, because it feels like it's still growing and it's not ready yet. it kind of just...needs time to sulk and brood. drizzile runs away again, because it's not ready, and while they're looking for it, it's chloe who makes goh start thinking about when he was a kid, by saying this:
Tumblr media
which prompts him to think about how he was searching for a "reason" for why drizzile was acting how it was, just like how adults used to demand reasons from him even when he didn't have them. and then of course we get this scene:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
but i think he does on some level know why, because he talks immediately after this about how his parents weren't home and often felt lonely. he's more comfortable being alone. he's protecting himself. which is reinforced by the fact that he then tells drizzile this:

goh has a hard time putting his feelings into words, which is something we see throughout jn. he sees that drizzile is the same and this is a huge moment for him, because he's saying here that it doesn't matter what inspired its feelings; he understands it is experiencing those feelings and that's enough. he'll wait until it's ready to fully process them or whatever else it needs. drizzile kind of returns the favour when he starts crying here and it reaches up to brush away his tears, then disappears again.
overall, this episode does an amazing job of showing us how goh has become someone who actually acknowledges his and his pokemon's feelings - this is the only time we see him as a child where he's not doing something to try to ignore his feelings, or trying to walk away from them. in flashbacks, his back is often to his parents. in jn032, he gets upset, and then tries to cover his disappointment up immediately with anger and avoidance. the writers set this scene up so that we can see the reason behind his feelings clearly (just like we can see the reason behind drizzile's, even though goh and co. can't), but they rightly emphasize that goh's ability to analyze "why" he or his pokemon are feeling a certain way isn't always helpful. emotions are meant to be felt, not intellectualized. it's a good message, and a huge area of growth!
drizzile's evolution into inteleon also shows us how this acceptance translates into it eventually being comfortable enough to be who it wants to be. and the characters are impressed by it - it even earns kecleon's admiration, the same way that other inteleon earned its when it was a sobble. this is a pretty clear mirror with goh's social life, where he went from being this friendless outcast figure to someone with a lot of friends, and a great willingness to make more, as he became more comfortable and confident and willing to reach out to others.
and lastly,
grookey
the only one of the three that doesn't evolve, for reasons that aren't ever really made clear to us. but i think that as random (...and tone deaf) as his dream sequence at the start of grookey's debut episode is, it actually makes a lot of sense. in the original, the dream has camille and walker transformed into rillaboom, and goh is understandably freaked out. but i think the bigger, more symbolic thing is that even if it is a dream, his parents are the ones that foist grookey upon him. this does seem like a really weird choice, until you start thinking about the parallels, right?
in reality, grookey is team rocket's pokemon. the episode title "when a house is not a home" tells us that grookey obviously doesn't feel like it "belongs" there. but the episode doesn't open in team rocket's base. it opens in goh's apartment. and the part i didn't show in the drizzile scene above is when he says this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the fact that goh was home alone a lot as a kid gets brought up fairly often. it implies that he kind of had to adopt this lone wolf persona, because there was no one else around to take care of him. he had to learn how to console himself and meet his own needs (hence why he's so combative about ash intervening with the ivysaur in jn003!), which is a lot of responsibility for a kid. grookey is handed to him like it's a responsibility in his dream, but then they bond. and he starts to appreciate having grookey around, to the point that he misses it when it returns to team rocket.
to me, the choice to have grookey not evolve kind of comes down to grookey being kind of...emblematic of goh's childhood. like, in his dream, grookey is this burden that's forced on him. someone he has to take care of, even though he isn't really prepared to do that. in reality, grookey is escaping from an environment that doesn't meet its needs. putting those two things together, i mean...that's just my reading of it, anyway. so grookey not evolving, and goh accepting grookey as it is - without any of the "growing up" analogs we have with cinderace and inteleon - is a way of showing that goh has come to terms with his childhood and that he accepts (and cherishes!) his childhood self. which he can only really do after he's done all the growing we see reflected in the evolutions of his other starter mons. (relatedly, grookey is the only starter of goh's who goh considers leaving with other mons in its evolution line. specifically, with two thwackey and their child, i.e. a family unit not unlike goh's!)
anyway! this is a very long post, so thanks for sticking with me if you did. hope my takes are as galaxy-brained as you hoped hehe

hello this has been rotting in my brain for a while and i need to dump it somewhere:
yuu with a mimikyu.
maybe before they arrived in twisted wonderland they found it out in the wild and took pity on it or were like "everyone hates you? mood. get in my damn pokeball." either way, now that they're in a whole new dimension, the two are most definitely on the same page. they both are seen as a freak for being who they naturally are and have to create a fake look/personality so there'll be a chance they get treated normally.
also, imagine the chaos mimikyu would cause at the entrance ceremony. yuu arrives with what everyone assumes to be a poorly made teddy. when grim starts the fire they place the "teddy bear" down and its shadowy arms extend and capture grim. everyone is now horrified. a pomefiore student has passed out. 4 dead 19 injured. once grim is collared by riddle, mimikyu innocently hops back over to yuu and cuddles into them as yuu praises the pokemon. bonus points if grim broke mimikyu's costume and everyone is left wondering how the hell this thing is still alive with a broken neck.
Okay but imagine this:
A younger Yuu. I'm talking child. This is their emotional support "teddy" that they take with them everywhere. Yuu as a kid even helps sew them little mini clothes and variants of their pikachu outfit and fixes and rips from it.
Little baby Yuu is of course very scared as they are in unfamiliar territory and is holding on to their emotional support Mimikyuu(or service teddy) as they go through the entrance ceremony.
Baby yuu waking up in a coffin is scary especially when there's a monster in front of them. Mimikyuu is also there with their own mini ceremonial robes as Yuu runs away only to he dragged back later by Crowley.
The second Grim causes trouble again and makes Yuu cry I can see mimikyuu growing into the giant kraken of a shadow monster that's still hiding their face with a cloth and wreaking havoc on Grim
Why did Crowley put them all alone in Ramshackle. Simple hes a shitty parent. But the kid doesn't mind because Mimikyuu likes it! And they're used to exploring anyways.
Fighting overblots gets very interesting with mimikyuu...

Can you share any lore for Nihilego au?
Sure!!
Nihilego Venom is very different from other pokemon's venom! It's not a sickness that's meant to kill you (it can though), it's meant to rewire your brain so long as it's a consistent feed!
The point of it is to basically unbalance your brain, bringing out the worst side of you and make you feel like it's always been the norm. Hence why someone like Lusamine was craving the Nihilego alone and Ash was racing after Legendaries.
It has a strangle hold of the first thought that comes to your mind and twists it until it's brutal and almost evil in a sense.
It doesnt give you much room to think of much else unless it's in your face.
Ash's love for pokemon get's twisted, a need to protect them by not letting them do anything, but in doing so, he sees them as too fragile to actually hurt. It's why, during battle, Ash refuses to hit them, and is terrified beyond belief when he hits Pikachu away.
It's all really fun to speculate!
Another Lore Piece i added in was that Nihilego mostly consume Aura. And while it can be supplemented in the Ultra World, its just not as strong as the normal world. So it takes a long time to feed and even longer to digest!
The Nihilego that attacks Ash aims for humans and Pokemon with High levels that it can latch onto, enough to eat without killing the creature.
It does almost kill a Riolu, who was barely supplementing enough Aura to stay alive for another day. If Ash hadnt been there that morning, the riolu would have passed midday.
Ash had a better chance because his body was able to consume Energy naturally, but once Seperated he was just too drained by that point to replenish properly.
He only survived because Pikachu learned how to transfer his own aura to Ash. And he only learned because of the whole deal woth Lucario and Mew, too afraid to be in a position where he couldn't help Ash.
Pikachu gave up Half his aura, which lead him to be lethargic and its also why he falls flat on his face almost immediately after :3
And uh... Whoops, went on a rant for this ^^'

I'm kinda debating putting a RDR2 crossover out there, but I don't know if this is something that only works in the recesses of my brain or actually workable... it would defiantly be crack like no tomorrow and would not include the bots. Maybe? still figuring out details.
ehm, an actual fic would be a long ways off and I've been working on this sparingly on the side (OUAT and the next OT&T is actively being worked on, exam madness is over so I want to release one of them before Monday!) but I'm just kinda interested so see if there would be any interest in some gunslinger hijinks.
Soooooo
Ashlyn, Jack, Miko, and Raf are all transported to RDR2 via mission gone wrong/weird cave drawings/MC luck
Ashlyn figures out what happened pretty quickly (she should be getting a universe hoping punch card at this rate)
She does not realize that she isn't alone.
Cue one Ms Moore galavanting around the RDR map while the Kids stick around the Vander Linde gang and are Very Confused.
The Kids experience includes;
Jack being renamed "Big Jack" since Jack Marston complains that it's HIS name. Jack is just having a moment. He's pretty sure he was found and rescued by a cult.
Jack joins Charles on a hunting mission, only to find the previously missing Miko impersonating a bush and doing a surprisingly decent job seeking up on the deer. Miko goes on to join the gang with Jack. She keeps trying to sneak into robberies. Hosea always catches her, and she emerges from very comical locations.
Raf initially panics. Then finds himself at a poker table at a train station. Luck is is only a game of statistics and Raf knows numbers. Becomes the Poker King, the nervous face IS his poker face. Overtime he learns everbodies business. Nice side effect of being the only sober gambler in the state. And the youngest. Via this, he turns up at the camp one day. Swanson's like *surprised pikachu face* He hears rumors about a strange cryptid running around and is like "Yeah that checks out. It's Ashlyn."
Meanwhile Ashlyn Moore is;
Roaming the wilderness treasure hunting and gives Downes's house a gold bar. Just pops up in every other town doing side quests. Stories start spreading about the wild thing looking for the Hooch man.
Eventially captured by O'Driscolls. Probably for insulting their vests, refusing to pay a bridge toll, or making some very interesting insults about not being able to rob a potato. That camp doesn’t exist anymore.
At some point, Micah and Ashlyn meet- or fight as a first meeting. She bites. He was not expecting this. Says she must have rabies, this incurred further wrath. Ashlyn is brought to the camp by Micah, saying she’s an O'Driscoll (kids are absent for the time). The girl proceeds to call out every manipulative sentence and asks for a step-by-step torture breakdown.  Poor Kieran is getting flashbacks whenever she brings up gelding. Begins to creep everyone out when she keeps moving in the night. Still tied to a tree, but it’s a different tree.  Mentions scary camping statistics (how many bugs crawl into the ear). The hotel gains a lot of business suddenly.
Ashlyn finally meets Dutch and the look in her eyes makes the kids panic. Spiderman meme is done when Ashlyn realizes others also came with her.
Ashlyn plays poker. She does not know how to play poker, but she keeps winning. Everyone is convinced she’s either cheating or a poker master while Raf is calculating how some of these moves are possible. Arthur finds this hilarious when she asks what the discs mean. Micah’s brain stops working.
Pulls The Batman references via el rata, Javier loses his mind about the incorrect Spanish. So does Raf. Bonding ensures via trying to keep Ashlyn’s mouth shut.
At a certain point, Ashlyn would make eye contact with Dutch while dropping a gold bar in the donation box. Bonus points if he's in the middle of a moneh rant.
"Who'd ya rob for that, missy?"
"A police station."
She's not telling him its the burned out one down the road.

Am I the only person on planet Earth who finds RE2make Leon incredibly frustrating? Do I LIKE him? Yes. Do I think he's overrated? Also yes. It's because I don't find him cute and naive, I find him outright stupid.
I mean... he's a twenty one year old fighting a hoard of zombies practically all alone, so he deserves some leeway. But by god. That man. That man has never been outside before. He's just so easy to push around and manipulate, that I can't help but whine and roll my eyes. I feel so mean saying it, but I know for a damn fact that if I was caught up in the RC tragedy, RE2make Leon is the last person I'd want to help me, I don't care if I'm unfit and can't use a gun. Our relations would end in violence. If somebody's trying to eat my face, I don't want some shit-for-brains, wah-where's-my-crush, boyscout fucker. Am I likely to die in under ten minutes, because of my sheer lack of patience? Yes, but RE2make Leon isn't some innocent little cutie, he's an overachieving annoying asshole and I'll (literally) die on that hill.
Claire's the best part of RE2make, there I said it. Forever sad at how little she's been utilised since.
i feel like you're conflating RE2make and OGRE2 leon a lot in this and your brain is picking out the worst traits of each of them and mashing them together and unconsciously biasing you into being more pissed than you probably ought to be
RE2make leon's negative traits: + confirmation bias born out of + intense naivety that requires him to + reject the reality in front of him because he + has to believe that there's still an order to things which leads him to having + poor judgment
OGRE2 leon's negative traits: + fucking arrogant dumbass who legit thinks he knows better than the people around him despite not knowing shit + follows ada around blindly because of the aforementioned arrogance making him feel Obligated to Protect The Lady + accepts everything that's said to him as truth on its face without bothering to question it, for no other reason than sheer dumbassery, then has the gall to go full surprised pikachu when it comes out that people lie + basically pulls a "lol it's fine claire u got this" several times throughout the game in order to chase ada, giving the justification that ada's just a civilian, forgetting that claire is ALSO A FUCKING CIVILIAN 19 YEAR OLD
RE2make leon has a brain that's just been kicked into overdrive with defense mechanisms because he's terrified, and he just kind of has to trust that this clearly suspicious lady is actually FBI because he knows that he doesn't actually know what the fuck he's doing.
OGRE2 leon just doesn't have a fucking brain at all lmao he's a walking penis with eyes who's used to being the smartest/most ambitious person in the room, which has skewed his perception of himself and the world around him to such a degree that he actually falls for the "i'm just an innocent lady looking for my boyfriend" schtick

I just wanna say I don't know much at all about Touhou but my friend shows me your art sometimes and I think the way you draw flandre is very good she's so small and so kiddy and it's nice to not see her drawn like a murder-crazy monster keep up the great work
Ohoho! then if you're new around these parts i am absolutely DELIGHTED to inform you that the "murder crazy monster" flandre is one hundred percent a fanon fabrication! (which by the way i loathe with every fiber of my being) now i'll rant to you a little bc i never miss a chance to show Flandre's good character charms sorry its my autistic brain going supercharged, critical mass even, whenever flan is mentioned, shes been a character ive held very dear to me since i was barely 13 (almost twelve years ago!) so you have to imagine my brain sizzling like soda with mentos as i'm typing this
Y'see, this uh. portrayal dates back from when our only source of flandres character was her introduction in touhou 6: EoSD (2002). Now. she DID flex about being strong and scary and threatening etc etc but what people dont get is that it was just for show! yknow! like a kid in their ebony dementia raven way phase. You cant tell me you'd see a kid in their edgy mary sue phase who blasts nightcore evanescence from the shared family computer all day and take them seriously.
after you defeat her you find out that the child is absolutely clueless on what shes doing, knows ABSOLUTELY nothing about socialization 101 and thought scaring the hell out of you was how you make pals, but if you play the reimu route she offers to give you a cake to thank you for playing with her (which has blood as an ingredient so reimu refuses but flan doesnt KNOW that humans dont drink their own blood. also she doesnt hunt her own food like remi does so thats actually sakuya's cooking)
Tumblr media
so she DOES try to be your friend. basically the kids confused to an absurd degree but shes absolutely got the spirit
My second point: there are little character sheets written from the PoV of Akyuu which serve as official references (called Perfect Memento in Strict Sense, 2007! I always recommend this as a must-read for new fans!), and it was the first clue, a little nudge, a little trail of breadcrumbs leading to the fact that Maybe the rumors that remilia locked up her sister are actually just rumors.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But then it got confirmed in Cheating Detective Satori (2019-ongoing official manga written by ZUN w guest artists for each chapter) which portrays flan and not only is she super excited about showing off her collection of dolls and stuffed animals to sakuya but also she says this.
Tumblr media
Flan is actually very introverted and CHOOSES to stay in the basement. None of that "remilia locked her up" bs, it's officially debunked!
Tumblr media
(and the day i stop showing this panel of CDS to defend her characterization, you can assume that i am deceased)
ALSO. LITTLE RASCAL SAVED GENSOKYO T W I C E. First, she used her destruction powers to disintegrate a METEOR that was headed for the scarlet devil mansion and would have an impact radius that would reach all the way to youkai mountain. She made it explode and went back to her basement to take a nap (and Remilia tried to take the credit for that but failed horribly)
AND THEN theres touhou 17.5 where she's the ONLY playable character that actually solves the incident. Again, her power to destroy anything made her the ONLY gensokyo resident able to face Yuuma without her eating Flan's bullet for lunch.
So yeah! her reputation is atrocious but the gal's not even closely as bad as people make her seem.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk i am here every day same hour and i will talk your hear off about Flandre Scarlet and i will defend her portrayal until my last breath.
PS: little headcanon moment yeah woo yeah but uhh in my head i always pictured her voiced by Ikue Otani, best known as the voice of pikachu, but specifically >her role as Hana from Ojamajo Doremi<
PPS: if you're new around here; despite everything, flandre is not actually my favorite touhou. no, nononono she is only second. Nah, the honor of the gold medal goes to ✨Her✨. do NOT get me started. I will talk for days without taking a breath between sentences.

Yes I'm still taking them! Thank you very much for this lovely prompt! Just sprinkling in some of my personal headcanons here and there. Hopefully it's a nice little read!
Series: Pokemon Horizons
Characters: Friede, Cap
--
On a peaceful night, one soul laid awake while everyone else slumbered.
Laying on his bed, Friede stared at the ceiling like it had the solution for his awaken state. Just one of those nights where his thoughts mimicked that of bells in his head; an incessant chime that left him unable to fall asleep. Nothing that a mug of Murdock's special nighttime blend couldn't fix but after the day they had, he didn't want to bother his friend more than necessary.
The Rising Volt Tacklers had lofty goals. Wanting to solve the mysteries of the world meant that danger remained a constant presence in their adventures. While they had plenty of peaceful days, the ones that left them all a little bruised at the end of the day acted as a reminder of this path they took.
Being their leader, the responsibility of the crew's safety rested heavily on his shoulders. None of them blamed him for whatever mishaps they came across but such encounters still repeat itself in his head once they had some breathing room. Friede's role in scouting with his Charizard factored heavily on how well informed they'd be. Anything lacking could spell the difference between a good trip or a bad one.
Today was one where things could've tipped into dangerous territories had they not make their escape. Friede had to push Orla and the Fire-types in the engine room so they had the speed to get away in time. Cap and him were focused on navigating through the storm they flew into, being the only route they could take.
At the end, they managed to dock the ship at an uninhabited island for the night. Friede and Orla will properly take stock on the ship's damages tomorrow but for tonight, they unanimously agreed to take it easy and get some much needed rest.
Friede wanted to sleep; once the adrenaline wore off, he remained on his feet solely from his need to present a strong front for his crew. He thought he'd be out like a light once he crashed onto bed but his brain just wouldn't turn off.
He heaved out a deep sigh--stirring Cap that curled into a ball on his stomach. His partner stretched, then rubbed one beady eye with his paw.
"Sorry about that. Didn't mean to wake you up," he murmured. Friede reached to Cap so he could lightly scratch the Pikachu between his ears. "You can go back to sleep."
"Pikapi?"
"Me? I'll be heading to sleep in a bit. Just got stuff on my mind, you know that."
Instead of curling himself back into a tight ball, Cap instead crawled his way up Friede's stomach to settle himself by the crook of his neck. His partner turned his head so Friede could see his quizzical expression.
"Pika Pi-Pika?"
"You wanna know? Well..." Yellow eyes became downcast. "Guess just 'bout what happened today. 's a lot. Things could've been a lot worse than it did."
Cap tilted his head, deep in thought before he perked up in acknowledgement. He gave a single nod. "Pika." Another head tilt, this time with questioning look on his face. "Pika?"
"Yeah, I get that it didn't but... I guess the what ifs just settled into this ol' noggin. Hard to shake them off."
Cap's expression remained puzzled, as if to say 'and why's that?'
A small huff of laughter, empty of its usual warmth. "Cause the crew's safety is my responsibility. I can't fail that. If I do... I don't wanna put them into unnecessary danger. They're like family to me." Friede's voice dropped into a whisper. "You're my family too, y'know that Cap?"
Cap pushed himself up till he sat on Friede's torso. His eyes seemingly bore into the other's soul with how intense they got. Then Cap thwacked him on the nose with his paw.
The surprise snapped Friede out of the black mood he was slowly falling into. One hand immediately went to his aching nose.
"Ow! What was that for?"
Cap's paws settled onto his hip. What proceeded was a long string of Pikachu noises that Friede could interpret as a lecture. The more Cap went at it complete with animated paw gestures, he found tendrils of amusement creeping in.
"Alright, alright I get it," Friede conceded at last once there was a pause in Cap's spiel. Lips curled into a fond smile, he said, "You're saying that I should put more trust in the crew and not shoulder everything myself, yeah?"
It spoke volumes of the bond they have that he understood his partner on this level. To others, they would hear the chattering of an excited, slightly agitated Pikachu.
To Friede, he understood the intent. Once Cap nodded his head with a self satisfied smirk, warmth blossomed in his chest. He reached out once more to settle a gentle hand on Cap's head.
"I heard it loud and clear. Thanks Cap. Guess I needed the reminder."
"Pi-Pikachu!"
Friede found himself cracking a yawn. After working out the gunk in his head, he finally felt sleepy. He turned on his side, which had Cap repositioning himself to tuck himself by Friede's chest.
"Night Cap. We have a busy day ahead of us."
Soon, two sets of deep breathing filled the cabin, both human and Pokemon finally getting the sleep they deserved.

Avatar Ash & Co. Pokémon Teams
So obviously traveling in a new region with new companions means new Pokémon, but I've never actually said what any of those new Pokémon are. So here we go!
(I'll draw the new new ones at some point. Also by the current point in the AU timeline the group's almost but not quite at the third gym (Anime Pacing Baybeeee!) so most of them haven't evolved yet. And they're in catch order.)
Ash's Team
Pikachu (obviously)
Bullot The Peashooter Pokémon Grass/Flying Ability: Sniper Description: A green parrot with a disproportionately large head and beak, and a circular hole in the front of the beak in place of nostril holes, which it fires seeds from at high speeds.
Jellobe The Jelly Fish Pokémon Water/Psychic Ability: Gooey Description: You know those goldfish with the big lumpy foreheads. This is one of those exaggerated so it looks like it's about 70% brain by mass (because it is), which is floating inside a levitating, spherical, water-filled jellyfish. Based on brains in jars, fish in bowls, and symbiotic relationships. The Water-Type Starter.
Pengaz The Pingas Pokémon Normal Ability: E E G It's that one meme Fakemon that looks like a Robotnik head.
Ralts (Mutant Forme) The Altered Pokémon Poison/Dark A mutated version of Ralts created by a mad scientist bent on world domination. It was created by splicing Ralts DNA with Alolan Grimer DNA, resulting in it consisting mainly of dark purple goo, which it has trouble controlling the consistency of. Its hair is uneven and an even darker shade of purple than the rest of it, its horns are jagged, overgrown and toxic green (its eyes are also green but you can't usually see that thanks to the hair), and its right arm has the little crystals Alolan Grimer and Muk have while the left only exists at all when Ralts focuses on it. Despite all the oddities and how painful they look at first glance, by all accounts Ralts is a perfectly happy, healthy Pokémon.
Miku's Team
Farfetch'd (already mentioned) Ability: Defiant
Flindit The Sharpshooter Pokémon Fire/Rock Ability: Blaze Description: A small red and grey rattlesnake with a piece of flint in place of a rattle and two rows of smaller flint spines running down its back. It can crack the flint on the end of its tail like a whip to shoot high-speed sparks at far-off opponents. The Fire-Type Starter.
Rolitroli The Transport Pokémon Type: Bug/Steel Ability: Off-Road (Certain Moves and terrain cause the Pokémon to change Forme) Description: Has two Forms. In On-Road Forme it looks like a cross between a centipede and a bus, while in Off-Road Forme it curls up into a wheel. It On-road is the default, and it changes into Off-road if it uses a Ground or Rock type move or is battling on rugged terrain. This boosts its speed and Physical Defense, but lowers its Physical Attack. It's the middle stage of one of the region's Early Route Bugs.
Cherrim ...This Pokémon already exists and only has one possible ability.
Meowth (Mutant Forme) The Cheshire Pokémon Type: Ghost Ability: Shadow Tag Description: Made by the same scientist as Ralts. A tall, lanky Meowth that's very obviously made of fabric. Mostly purple and stripey, with actual socks for paws, a button in place of a coin, eyes with alternating green and blue rings, the head of a broom in place of the usual curl at the end of its tail, and a massive shark-tooth grin. Based on the Cheshire Cat, a witch's cat, sock monkeys, and haunted dolls.
Jet's Team
Pyukumuku Ability: Innards Out
Snugleaf The Bundled Pokémon Grass/Bug Ability: Grass Pelt Description: A pale yellowish-green spider wrapped up in a big bundle of bright green leaves, with only its nervous-looking face and front four legs peeking out. The second stage of the Grass Starter.
Bob-Omb The Detonation Pokémon Fire/Steel Ability: Blast Shield (The Pokémon is immune to explosion-based moves, and can use Self-Destruct, Explosion, and Misty Explosion without fainting) Description: It's a Bob-Omb, what do you want from me?
Eevee Ability: Adaptability
Psyduck (Mutant Forme) The Fucking Snapped Pokémon Psychic/Electric Ability: Electrokinesis (Electric Type Moves also do Psychic Type damage [follows similar rules to Flying Press]) Description: Yep, all three of them ended up with one of that nutjob's creations. Jagged black-and-yellow feather pattern, ruffled feathers, angry eyes. Its eternal headache now effects a different part of its brain due to overexposure to electricity, unlocking the full extent of its psychic abilities, overriding its original type, and changing the pain's effect from confusion to white-hot unending RAGE.
SMG29's Team
Nidorina Ability: Poison Point Well, Female Nidoran is #29 after all.
Eggdog The Eggdog Pokémon Egg/Dog Ability: Bork
SMG30's Team
Glimmet Ability: Toxic Debris
Donandan Shuckle (yeah I settled on Donanda as the region name. Luke's Australian, sue me.) The Mold Pokemon Bug/Steel Ability: Heatproof Description: The shell is bigger, kind of blocky, and dull green and metallic grey instead of red and white. The head and legs look more-or-less the same.
Jessie's Team
Note: Jessie and James decided to stick to two previous team members each (outside of emergencies) so they could focus on training the new recruits.
Wobbuffet Ability: Telepathy (by process of elimination because there is no way that any of Team Rocket's Pokémon have Shadow Tag)
Seviper Ability: Shed Skin
Donandan Pikachu The Scorpion Mouse Pokémon Electric/Poison Ability: Contagious (Any physical contact will either poison the other Pokémon, change their ability to Contagious, or both) Description: A bit shorter and bulkier than the usual Pikachu, with darker fur, a long vertical stripe running from the top of its head to the base of its tail (it still has the two horizontal stripes on its back), the cheek pouches are now raised and angular like frills or tufts of fur, the tail is mostly the same except it has that black marking on the end people used to keep thinking the normal one had and a long stinger thing running down from the bottom corner of the end, the black on the ears is bigger and a bit jagged like Pikachutwo's. The idea of Jessie just randomly ending up with a special Pikachu that isn't Ash's amuses me for some reason.
Vineper The Scrawny Pokémon Grass/Normal Ability: Dry Skin Description: Look up blunt-headed tree snakes. That but as a cartoon character.
James's Team
Amoongus Ability: Regenerator This is partially because I'm planning on introducing a regional variant of Foongus with a new evolution, the third gym leader has that evolution as their Ace, and I want James's Amoongus to develop a rivalry with that Pokémon. Because Pokémon Anime.
Mime Jr. Ability: Filter
Grattle The Padded Pokémon Grass/Ground Ability: Thick Fat Description: Cross between a rattlesnake and the Tsuchinoko. It's a counterpart to Vineper.
Geomatrix The Singularity Pokémon Ghost/Psychic Ability: Event Horizon (Prevents all Pokémon on the field from escaping until this Pokémon either faints or wins) Description: A bunch of colorful geometric shapes orbiting a single point. At that point is the actual Pokémon, which is microscopic and can only interact with anything on the Macro scale by using its powerful telekinetic abilities.
Not Caught but Follows the Characters
Doodoll The Hand-Drawn Pokémon Ghost Ability: Patch Job (When the Pokémon is switched out, the Pokémon that replaces it regains some HP) Description: A black-and-white paper doll. Doodoll and its evolutions feel the pain of nearby people and Pokémon as if it was its own, and will do whatever it can to heal them so that the pain stops, though some will actually use this ability to actively seek out those who need help. This one in particular has decided to be the TRio's new medic and isn't taking no for an answer, and none of them have thought to just catch it because they're idiots.
Grant's Team
Bunnelby Ability: Pickup
Donandan Bidoof The Plump Mouse Pokémon Dark/Normal Ability: Contrary Description: Its fur is now a dark muddy brown instead of the usual bright brown, and is so soggy and shaggy that it covers its eyes. Unlike most Regional variants, there is no difference in behavior or personality from the usual version.
Snizzle The Frost Pokémon Ice Ability: Icy Scales Description: Ice Snake.
Laser's Team
Buneary Ability: Clutz
Heeliant The Heel Pokémon Bug/Dark Ability: Prankster Description: Anthropomorphic ant that cheats at boxing. It and a Bug/Fighting Type called Roughiant (the Comeback Pokémon) are branching evolutions of a pure Bug type called Sgrub (the Larva Pokémon). Sgrub has absolutely terrible stats and the ability Defeatist, and evolves into Roughiant if it knocks out 100 Pokémon or Heeliant if it faints 100 times. It's a sports movie Pokémon line. With ants.
Pondypus The Platypus Pokemon Water Ability: Poison Point Actually I have a picture of this one
Tumblr media
It's an old picture, admittedly, so I'll redo it when I draw the other ones.
