y’all were right about Lower Decks it is the best new Star Trek show by far.  It’s truly an ensemble cast. There’s a good balance of action and drama, just in a quicker format for comedy which works well, much better than the action-only new series.  Most of all it’s FUN again.  I love the dull, mundane tasks they are always doing and how they are all nerdily excited about it in different ways. 

Also I’m only a few episodes in, so this is just my first impression.  But how old is Beckett Mariner supposed to be?  She’s treated like a teenager.  I’m interested to see where they go with the villainization of the captain.  Right now it’s in the level of “controlling parent” and “glory chaser” but how far will she compromise her ethics?  When will she cross that line for good?

I’m excited to learn more about Orion culture too!

So, i'm currently travelling acrosd country by train. And it's still early. And the sun is rising. And when i look out the window i can see the shadow the train makes. I'm all the way up front, so i can see the nose of the train in the shadow.

And there's something to special about it. Knowing you are casting a shadow, but it's not you. Your shadow currently doesn't exist. Yet you are casting a shadow. A communal one. With all of the people and personnel on board. We are all sharing a shadow at the moment, through the shadow of the train.
