in breath of the wild it´s implied society in hyrule consists mostly of isolated villages (i know some are called cities but honestly no location seen is big enough for a city) which ok makes sense, society got thrown back to early sedentarism, before humanity developed complex states

but then why do the stables exist. by implication random travellers must be the main clientele and reason for existing of the stables, but if there is no greater state why would people travel all that much? not only that, who keeps the roads safe from monsters (of which there are a lot) and bandits (which there aren´t but realistically would exist)? in summary breath of the wild is a 0/10 game because stables exist
