a rough concept for how Dongos (engl. dondon?) work in my rewrite, i want them to actually … be something beside a gem vending maschine :(

more info, both from the image and extra

they are ridable and tameable

slow movement

can climb almost any wall and dig through rocks and ore deposits quickly

they hang on walls here and there in the underground

big mole like front paws for digging and climbing, hooves at the back legs with one big claw so they can hang securely on a wall

two saddles can be attached (for link and zelda)

they have little appendages on their chin for sensing food

Gigama (frox) prey on them, hence their shell and pattern like the ground for hiding (if they get hit by a gigama they will burrow away and you have to call them again)

big orange-white eyes like cave or deep sea creatures so they can take in as much of the little light avaible in the dark

they are now found in small herds but were nearly driven to extinction twice as both the sonau and later the ancient shiekah mined for luminous stones which is their primary food source (hence the glowing of the horns, teeth and claws)

(idea? the yiga have little mini stables in the underground bc they also use the Dongos to get around, once you have at least the mask OR have koga as sage unlocked you can register Dongos at their places and call them while in the depths anywhere as long as they are not in the stable)

i dont think they should be able to get to the surface, or if they do they can only be used at night bc the light of the sun would damage their eyes and/or hurt them otherwise, given that they evolved in nigh total darkness

I’m in love with how they are giving so many subtle hints about Alhaitham and Kaveh’s relationship and how important it is to Alhaitham, despite the way they always seem to be bickering.

Throughout the 3.2 archon quest Alhaitham tells us that the reason why he is so interested in helping Sumeru is because he doesn’t want his daily life to change. After that Kaveh starts being mentioned very frequently by him or we hear other people in the akademiya complain about how they daily argue.

Then, of course, we meet them both arguing with each other in the House of Daena, which was quite the argument. We also know many of their casual interactions and how they go to the café/bar frequently together. Furthermore, Alhaitham pays all of Kaveh’s bills (something no one would do for someone they don't care for).

And now, during Alhaitham’s quest, their tones were so soft (At least in JP and CN) and also domestic. Kaveh seems to worry a lot about Alhaitham and exchanges glances with him, which made me melt inside. I also love how Alhaitham is constantly smiling while bickering with kaveh. Remember, we dont see him smiling like this that often. Which means he really enjoys it. I really liked how after the second time Kaveh asked him if he is okay, he replied with a tease about the painting Kaveh had mentioned before. Also smiling.

But most importantly, something I see no one talking about: the moment when Alhaitham was explaining why he resigned from being the Grand Sage to being the scribe again and he tells us that “It’s important to keep your priorities straight”, the camera points at Kaveh.

I know this game will probably never have any canon ship because they need to make everyone happy, but we do get hints like this from time to time and I think this was one of them.

After all, why would they bother to add all of those scenes with Kaveh when the quests had already concluded, if not for showing us how is what is Alhaitham’s daily life he wants to protect that much? We saw how happy he is, how eager he was to get home and go have dinner with Kaveh. We also see how Kaveh had been waiting for him as well.

I’d like to know more about their relationship, even if it ends up not being romantic (though how do you explain that face Kaveh made when paimon asked if they are friends).

thinking about him and chip, first of all. thinking about how chip saw this little kid and he saw himself, and so he desperately began to scramble to be everything he needed as a kid that he never got. chip ended up getting caught between 'do cool shit to impress him' and 'keep him safe'. and you can practically see and mark the exact moment where it teetered over into 'keep him safe'. chip's found people that make him want to be a better person and it's so gahgdjhkjwehtjk to think about.

thinking about chip chastising ollie for cursing despite ollie picking up every bit of it from chip.

thinking about ollie calling for chip when things go awry.

thinking about chip just taking the time to check on ollie every time he gets the opportunity.

thinking about ollie clinging onto him and begging not to go home just yet because of the adventures chip's brought him on.

and thinking about the way it haunts chip to hear it because he so desperately wants ollie safe and the albatross isn't always safe. ollie shouldn't be as violent and rowdy as he is at 12 or 10 or 9 or whatever his canon age is.

thinking about ollie and gillion. thinking about gillion being this massive immovable force, this strong warrior in the eyes of a child. thinking about how gillion likely doesn't know how to act around ollie at first because he was never socialized around other kids growing up. but he and ollie actually have so much in common and their friendship is so fucking precious too.

thinking about ollie telling gillion about his journal before he tells chpi and jay.

THINKING ABOUT THE BATTLE THE 2ND TIME THEY WERE IN ALLPORT. thinking about gillion very clearly prioritizing ollie's safety; telling kuba kenta (paraphrased) 'youre going to let him run back to the ship and youre not gonna fucking hurt him' and preparing to use magic or some other spell to protect ollie.

thinking about ollie probably asking to hold gillion's sword. gill's probably like 'hell yeah, but only the worthy can support its weight!' and he lets ollie hold it but magically or however tf holds some of the weight himself so that ollie can actually keep it upright.

THINKING ABOUT OLLIE AND JAY OH MY GOD. thinking about how ollie calls her 'miss jay' which is just fucking adorable. thinking about how he seems to think she's the coolest one on the albatross,, thinking about how he's probably enthralled by jay's inventions and the things she tinkers together.

thinking about how, after jay got her 'wings' (the magical tattoo that allowed her to cast flight), the first thing she did was fly ollie around.

thinking about her trying to be a good role model for ollie because she's like 'well the other two are kind of idiots but i think i can do this right at least'.

thinking about her watching ollie talk about his mother and thinking about her own mother, her own family, and just silently whispering a prayer to the stars, please let this boy's family be good (and as far as i know, his family is good).

i did attempt to not make this zedango. alas it is inevitable when it comes to my writing

"Would you look at that," Zedaph mutters, mostly to himself. (Herself? She's trying to stay in character here.) He turns his face this way and that, drinking in his reflection, all long lashes and rosy cheeks. He never did get a good look at it in his hurry. "Don't I look gorgeous."

Zedaph makes a mental note to thank Cleo after all this.

...Though, honestly, whoever's in charge of shining this tray should also really get a round of applause, Zedaph thinks. It's like a mirror.

Footsteps come up behind him, stopping at his side. Ah.

"So," Tango starts, "Grian's dead."

"Griande," Zedaph corrects.

"Right, sorry. Griande's dead."

"Shame."

Tango's lips quirk up, "Did you kill her?" Zedaph sighs.

"Unfortunately not."

Tango laughs, "I don't know what I expected."

"Neither do I," Zedaph mutters. He— ah, to hell with it. She pulls her lipstick out of her purse, "The others seem to have it handled, though."

Zedaph touches up the lipstick, pressing her lips together the way she's seen others do, smiling a little just to see the way it looks. Tango quiets at her side.

Then, "Hate to break character here, but Zed, you helping or what?"

Zedaph tsks, not bothering to turn from the mirror. "I don't know a Zed. My name is Rosamund, darling."

Tango rolls his eyes. At least, Zed assumes he did. Very Tango thing to do, that.

"Well, Rosamund," Tango— Mr. Waltz, tonight. Grian thinks he's funny— says. "There's a super interesting murder mystery going on right now, and you've been in front of this tray for," He checks his watch. It's golden, fancy, and laughably easy to break. "About 90 percent of it. Care to share with the class?"

Zedaph doesn't answer. Instead, she pulls back, tucks her red lipstick away into her purse. She squints her eyes, messing with her curls.

"Do you think this suits me?" Zedaph asks, her voice smaller. Quieter. Almost a whisper. "I mean— the getup. Makeup and dress and all that."

"It does," Tango replies easily, voice softer to match hers. Zedaph's not good with tone on a good day, but... "You look pretty."

Her heart does a thing. She doesn't know what, but it did a thing. Should get that checked.

Zedaph turns to face Tango— she needs to know if he's joking, red eyes alight with humor and a stupid grin on his face. Needs to know if by pretty he meant pretty silly, why would you even ask—

She looks, and then her thoughts falter and fade into oblivion.

Tango's looking at her, too, something warm in his gaze that makes Zed want to squirm or wipe off with a stupid comment. His cheeks are flushed pink.

It's piercing in the way Tango's gaze always is, slightly intense and burning right through her. Zedaph thought she had gotten used to it, and she has, mostly.

But right now it's kind of disconcerting.

(...Or, it's kind of nice.)

(Who said that.)

"I might be a girl," Zedaph says, instead of literally any of that. Tango blinks. "Tonight has been pretty eye-opening."

Zedaph frowns, "Except for Griande, I guess."

That startles a laugh out of Tango. "That's messed up!"

"She's fake dead, it's fine!"

"She'll make you real dead if you aren't careful," Tango tells her. "But— yeah? You think so?"

Zedaph shrugs, "I've been wondering about it for a while. This just hammered it in."

"Well, congrats," Tango nudges her with his side, grinning as he looks back at their reflections, seeing them side by side. "And welcome to the club, uh...?"

Something blossoms in Zedaph's chest, happy and tingly as she leans against Tango.

"Still Zedaph," she says. "And... He or she works. I think."

Then, only loud enough for the two of them, "Thanks, Tango."

Is this what Happiness is?

- hey so I haven't seen an interpretation of the bar scenes in Half that I fully agree with, so I wanted to throw my own two cents out there into the void and pray that it makes sense !!!

so, in the bar scenes in Half we see what I interpret as a hangout with old friends (or, hangout with old friend + his wife.) These scenes used to be the biggest piece of evidence for the cheater theory, but now that that's been debunked by the man himself, I have a new way of looking at them

~ before I go any further, I just wanted to say that I'll be calling the brown-haired woman whiskey for simplicity's sake

In this scene, Kazui turns to look at Whiskey, saying the lyrics:

"laughing together, side by side, this distance in our relationship is misleading me, is this what happiness is?"

With my guess (cuz that's really what it is there's no evidence for it) that Whiskey is the Bartender's wife i think this scene is Kazui being conflicted with what he's been told is true, that marrying Hinako is "true love", versus what he feels is true, that marrying Hinako has brought distance into their relationship.

He looks at Whiskey, a woman happily married, and wonders why his relationship with Hinako isn't like that.

in this post he points out that Hinako and Kazui's rings are silver in Cat, not gold like they were in Half, yet Bartender's ring colour stays the same.

For the sake of this writing I'm going to go with the first meaning they put out, that Bartender's ring is gold because his marriage is genuine.

But wait!! I hear you ask. This is Half and Kazui's ring is still gold in Half!! EXACTLY MY FRIEND!!

Kazui's ring IS still gold in Half because at the time of these scenes he's still fooling himself that this relationship is good, that he will eventually garner real romantic feelings for Hianko.

Remember this lyric that plays during the Whiskey -> Hinako scene. You know what other scene in Half this lyric reminds me of?

He's beginning to doubt if what he believes is true, he's beginning to believe the feelings telling him something's wrong (and remember, the scene right after this one is when he confesses (?) his secret to Hinako) ARE infact true, and that maybe the logic he's been following for so long has a couple holes in it.

I think these scenes are meant to show Kazui gradually realising that his relationship with Hinako will not work out. It just won't, no matter how hard he tries.

He's able to laugh together and talk with Whiskey because she's his friend, yet he can't do the same with his own wife? Even though, according to his gold ring, their relationship is supposed to be real and true and genuine?
