have you guys heard about the “barricade brigade” fiasco? having been at the barricade at multiple shows, have you run into these people or can testify to the negative imoact they have at shows? or are you (like me) confused because it seemed like there was a good community and system in the line at shows and now there’s suddenly so much hate geared at these people? Now that you finished Scarlet I’m curious about any thoughts you may have on the professors. My personal opinion is that they were a bad parent in that they focused so much on creating their dream paradise in Area Zero that they neglected to give Arven the proper care and attention he needed growing up. However I also truly believe they sincerely loved Arven as evidenced by some of their journal entries, the photo of Arven in their lab, and the implication in one of their journals that the paradise they wanted to create was for Arven as much as for themselves.

It’s also one of my HCs that they spent their final moments after being fatally wounded bitter and furious at themselves for the distance they created between themselves and their son and for dying in the paradise they tried so desperately to create….without ever getting to see or hold or say goodbye or apologize to one of their dearest treasures again.

Yeah basically I’m on team “professors fucked up a ton and Arven deserved better but their fuck ups and their love for their son make them more interesting of a character than if it was just one way or the other”

tbh i agree with you. turo/sada (depending on the version) does love arven. theyre ateast better than their other half who walked out after arvens birth (in this case i dnt think arven knows his absent mom/dad n the parent who stayed became a single parent)

but also the time machine project became an obsession to sada (im gonna use sadas name since i play scarlet) tht her dreams start to cloud her judgement and love for arven. she still loves arven but that doesnt deny the denial and neglect and abandonment she laid upon her son. yes yes she wanted a paradise for her family to live in but she also chose to fully ignore the ecological destruction if ancient pokemon starts to combine with the present ones

sada does have her moments of momhood esp when arven was still young but shes still a bad parent the moment she got so caught up with her project

also the fact that they died so long ago and arven didnt realize it until the finale of the game.....love it when pokemon writes fucked up moments

Hanging out with your family is wild because one minute you're just watching some paranormal junk on travel channel about a guy who saw a monster while he was fishing.
