wisdom tooth update! its fine im just having Moment about the surgical healing process so ill put this under a readmore

tl;dr im healing fine, and also, it bears repeating that I CANNOT BELIEVE how people go walking around like wisdom tooth surgery is No Big Deal So Normal And Minor You'll Be Fine Right Away. we are now at week 2 and I'm just finally starting to get my mojo back but my face is still very sore and I am still having thrice daily body horror moments every time i have to irrigate the (still massive) wound in my face

posting bc it reassures me and also on the offchance this isnt actually normal and someone else can spot that lmao

proceed w caution if you don't like graphic descriptions or pictures of mouths/minor surgical wounds. no blood/gore, just TMI

frantically doing research about what healing wisdom tooth sockets are supposed to look like bc nobody tells you JUST HOW MUCH OF YOUR FACE they have to carve up to get those suckers out???? i have like an indoor chelsea grin situation going on????? but apparently this is all normal, I think??! MOST of the images I see of healing sockets look a lot less dramatic/have MUCH, MUCH smaller incisions. but i have found a few comparable ones to mine. and it doesn't look infected or anything so yeah ig this is just. normal????

i mean i would really expect my incision to be uhh h smaller by week 2. but idk like i said. its otherwise healing fine?

like. im kidding about the chelsea grin thing obviously but also kinda not really. like my actual jaw, like the joint, like the BACK of my mouth, WAY ABOVE the gums, is still split open. like way way more than you'd think would have been necessary. like an additional half inch above my socket. it's basically 2 sockets. that are attached like 1 big socket that goes from my gums into my cheek.

but im cursed to look at this 3x a day whether i like it or not!

look at that! that's 2 weeks post surgery to the day.

its not my gums. that is fully a half inch up past my gums. tbf that sucker was sideways so they probably had to break it out hamburger style instead of hotdog style or w/e, but also, it's been 2 weeks? i expect it to take longer for bone and tissue to fill in the socket, but an incision should be closing up after 2 weeks, shouldnt it????

idk cus like, this is the only "complication" i've had btw, my face/cheek muscles being an issue... nurse suspected I overworked them on days 3-4 in an attempt to get pain relief; I was stretching/massaging/trying to chew too soon. I was only afterwards told how deep the injections go and that they can cause inflammation for weeks afterwards. oops. (i still dont think i'd have been able to talk properly or chew until about day 5 anyway, but i def made it worse. part of me wonders if the incision was even this big to begin with, or if I did that by overworking it.......... 💀)

anyway, my cheek/jaw muscles, right on the incision, hurt way more than my socket. they just keep getting tighter. and tighter. you know that feeling when a tendon/muscle is out of place and then it goes TWONG back into place and you're like "UGHK" ? it's like that inside my jaw, under my tongue and under the socket, except it never twangs back. my face just gets tighter and tighter like a rubber band that won't break, the more i eat/talk/smile the worse it gets. heat helps but it's inflamed as well so im trying to alternate heat/ice.

that said it's gradually getting better every day. vast improvement even from last Friday. but man. that + realizing how far up into my face that incision actually goes has me in a serious recurring body horror moment. i have hated absolutely every single second of this whole process :) this is my personal hell :)

licherally can not BELIEVE the amount of NT people who go walking around like wisdom tooth surgery is NO Big Fuckin Deal Back To Work on Day 3. it's WEEK 2 for me and I am just now getting back to normal, I can eat pretty much anything now (still avoiding crunchy and spicy), but i have to be so careful about how much I use my jaw.

maybe I am just more attached to my teeth and bones than the average guy (i.e. have sensory processing issues) or maybe it's just that ive never had any other surgeries. maybe i hate all surgery this much idk. but what the fuck lol. i do NOT feel I was adequately prepared for this. no way. everyone was like "oh it's fine you'll be in and out in 10 mins, I didnt even take my vicodin bc i didnt even need it, I was back to work on day 3, everybody gets it, they do so many of these all the time." ok but, do you have a fucking adamantium skeleton. you are the creature that god forgot. who are you people. like yeah they cut into my jaw and broke my bones right out of my face, but it's totally fine and im instantly normal again!! couldnt be me!!! what the fuck!!!!

Did our friday shopping. I live for our fridays. It's the only time I get out. Our day is only like 5 hours with a nice long lunch. But this shit is wearing me out. We came home after lunch at about 2 and I was whining the whole way from the car to my bed. 😶💦

I had a vision appointment. I only got my glasses 4 months ago but they said since I'm diabetic I could get another prescription before waiting a year... 👀 I feel like I'm just being picky and sensitive 'cause i dont think my vision could possibly change that much, especially since it ALWAYS does this 4 months after a prescription change. But she did adjust one side's nearsightedness and the astigmatism, so..

I think the trip in december is making me anxious, I wanna get all my shit sorted before then. Even though I'm only gonna be there for 10 days. 😅 And its not like any of these things are gonna affect my trip to the show. (I mean, I WOULD like to see, but I'm literally in the third row,,,👀)

I finally got a call from a rheumatologist today! All my referrals are slowly getting their shit together, so that's good. My appointment isnt until the week before I leave, but at least I have one. I hope they give me some sort of pain management but if not i still have those tramadol.. 👀

I still need to do something about my disc hernia but since I've yet to get a call from ortho, I'm not sure what. I heard about this cold laser therapy chiropractors can do, so I was thinking of asking if thats something i should look into.. Because if this condition is bothering one enough, they just do surgery, and while it's been an issue i dont think its surgery bad... Especially since its a come-and-go thing. But I don't know.

i am so happy to be the cheye of right now, that yesterdays cheye was envious of. I feel so much better already!

(medical vent under read more, exaggerated graphic description/wording of ailment feeling, along w general descriptions of what happened (bt cld still potentially be Gross to some))

Nobody else was at the Dr's office so I didn't have to wait ^_^ my doctor was also finally incredibly gentle for once and also didnt shame me, which im also sure was bc i cld barely move my jaw enough to speak properly at that point + he d**d seriously asked me "so you must be in a LOT of pain, right? :(" after deciphering my desperate gibberish

got my ears minimally slurped (LOL). I always look away frm the TV/camera of what goes on in there bc I dont want to know the horrors happening where i cannot see them but I caught a glimpse and I dont even wanna describe it. They also had to use a thingy to keep the canal open bc my ear was almost swollen shut. Im actually so glad my body cranked up the jaw pain to 15 in exchange for lowering the ear pain to a 4 by the time I got there bc I dont think i wldve survived the cleaning otherwise. There was also a few drops of blood afterwards, which is probably why there was minimal interaction there.

I got ye olde IM injection (IT FELT LIKE IT TOOK 5 MINUTES! GOOD LIRD!), which hit in the next hour, trading the jaw pain for slight inability to walk and sit down fhshkfhsf ^_^ went to pick up meds, shopped at the grocery store while still across the border w my mom with the money we had left + I got myself some snacks. Tried to get my mouth working again on the way back

I am still completely devoid of hearing in the affected ear but I've gone longer without my hearing so its ok ^_^ its only mildly disorienting + also im back to understanding why my parents listen to videos at max volume. It also no longer feels like someone is repeatedly hammering a heated ice pick into my brain thru my ear

Still have to hold jaw to eat w.o pain atm but I can form words + fit a spoon in there again (and I can eat!!!!! I ate food!!!) without it feeling like im pinballing a 300 million volt grapefruit in between my temple and lower teeth

I am able to lie down again ^_^ i can finally sleep! I am waiting for a good time to take meds and then I will be doing that. I am ready to rest up. And also be able to do things again instead of spending the day in unshakeable pain limbo ^_^

*Jay laughs at the comment and snatches the sheet of paper from lilys hand.*

Jay : Yup. A red and blue obese toad.

Lily : Hey give that back!!..... I need to submit it today.. !!!

ok but i think all the planning you do for your fics is really cool!!! the most ive planned for a fic was six pages (handwritten and full of diagrams/room layouts/clothing designs) for like a 75k word slowburn!!!!!!!! a 10k outline is like 🤩🤩🤩🤩 so cool 🤩🤩🤩🤩 which is really nerdy of me ik but i seriously think tjats awesome i love planning my fics out!!!! i cant plan to that point, its just not how my brain works, but im glad youve found a way to plan that still lets you write and enjoy the story!!!!! if you wanna give like, examples, id be so so so so grateful and so so so hyped???? even if you dont its fine!!!! i just think youre really cool!!!!! 💜💜💜

!!!! Planning makes it more fun for sure! That’s how it is for me, anyways. I go pretty hard with outlining and get SUPER excited when I get to “call audibles” and inject new stuff into the plot.

Honestly its like the best feeling in the world when you’re planning a fic and SUDDENLY have this great idea and since you’re in the outlining phase you can just RUN with it! The fact that yours are handwritten.... powerful... I haven’t done room layouts but I drew up a map for Giants just so I could rationalize travel time.

I’m not sure if i’d show my outlines cause they’re very messy but perhaps I’ll show yall a spreadsheet one of these days... as a treat.. cause honestly my process for outlining is very manic lmao gimme the clown nose.

i cant believe its December already tf?!?!?!

2 - today im at igd but joined azkia at vk for a bit to see partus. its not that im scared (maybe not consciously) but when the mom was being stitched i felt lightheaded, nausea, cold extremities, and i even had to squat multiple times because i couldnt stand. But i felt better after the partus so maybe seeing it was the cause. so if u dont know i have chronic pain and i’ve been taking an oral medication for it for a few years now but it hasnt been very affective and my doctor thinks it’s because my body isn’t actually absorbing it so even though i’m taking 25mg i might not actually be getting anywhere close to that. 

so she suggested i start taking my medication by weekly injection which at first i didn’t want to do at all cuz i hate anything that involves needles (i have to get blood tests monthly and just the thought of it makes me sick) and i had like a complete meltdown at my doctor’s office (fun) but i eventually decided to do it cuz according to my doctor it’s the best course of treatment and she obviously knows more than i do cuz only one of us went to medical school and its not me

so my options were to either to go see my doctor every week  and she would do it or i could learn to do it myself. i went with option 2 cuz going to the dr.’s clinic every week sounds like a huge hassle. 

so anyway, i did it myself for the first time today (with supervision and instruction by my doctor cuz im just starting) and i’m really proud of myself for being able to do that but also it’s the weirdest fucking feeling and like, also is kinda a confusing experience. cuz like, all my instincts are like “uhh, hey, maybe, don’t put sharp objects into your body” so i’m trying to convince myself “stabbing yourself is good, actually and will help you” and its just like, kinda weird cuz my body is responding to the situation like it’s in danger but my brain is like, “no actually this is the right thing to be doing.”

i don’t know what the point of this post is except that i’ve just been thinking abt this all day and i doubt my irl friends wanna hear about it asjfkdjaf anway, just wanted to get these thoughts out of me
