Hello! Just wondering what dr ships are rotting your brain or thinking about for the past few weeks. What are your Mikan ships as well? Btw I love your art you're so awesome :))
omg u have no idea how happy this ask made me lol!!! hahaha!!! thank u for enabling me c:<
DR ships that i have like. quite consistent brain rot for been attacking me the last few weeks. I just find Ougoku so fucking cute and precious i love it so much and Naegiri has reared its head and im in a constant state of komahina+nami feels bc im writing a fic for them rn!!
Soulfriends!!Soulfriends too oh my God soulfriends like Destroys me it hit me so hard when I played SDR2 for the first time. I really loved Kaz (despite everything :')) so i did all his fte's and just. Oh my god they're so special to each other!!!!!!! I also hc Hajime as being Kaz's bi awakening lol (tho im p.sure thats a popular headcannon) bc it just makes too much sense. But also like. I just think they'd make such good and like special friends. IDK its weird i ship them but its more like the most intense BroTP i've ever had but i defo think Kaz goes through having a crush on Hajime for the longest time OHAEROGO I like to think Hajime would be very physically affectionate to him too? Mostly bc he thinks its funny the way Souda gets so riled up by it but I think he'd love giving him like forehead kisses and ruffling his hair in like. A platonic/flirty way???? The song for them that really gets me (bc im very musically inclined and also ask me about my character playlists OTJRIGJOIEA) is that Stev en Unive rse one no matter what . like i litro get so emotional listening to it imagining them!!!!! the "through whoever you've been, through whoever you'll be, through whatever you lose, you will always have me, at the end of your rope, i'll be holding you tight, im gonna be right by your side no matter what" bit. *slams my head into a pillow and screams* just!!!! They could both do w/ each other you know??? Someone who loves them and trusts them and believes in them and someone to just have fun and be themselves w/ and joke w/ and oh my god oh ym god its literally so important !!!!!!!
Funny you should mention Mikan ships tho bc actually! A mikan ship has been fuckin me up recently haha! I've suddenly become like. SO soft for hajime/mikan. I wasn't too into it when i played her route in SDR2 and it ended w/ marriage, but like. looking back on it. theres very few characters Hajime is like. actually soft and gentle w/. Chiaki is one and Mikan is another and just. oh ym god that makes me m e lt . like he cares for her so much? and he's so worried for her? and he just wanted to hold her and protect her!!!! and yes! she deserves it!!!!!!!!she deserves someone who'll love her properly!!!! truly!!! She's been through so much and Hajime being that safe space for her just. dont touch me. dont look at me. I genuine think he'd be SO protective of her. and patient. and she wont know what to do bc she's never had that before and it'd be so scary for her but he'd help her through it all ARGH!!!! Not to reference another SU song but. god. dont listen to Found while imagingn Hajime singing it to her. dont do it. oh ym god. AND ALSO their like. Omg the way they can both relate (depending on how much of Izuru you believe hajime can rememebr) and understand each other's relationship w/ Junko in a way that like. really. the other despairs couldn't. bc only they had such a close relationship w/ her. I mean maybe Nagito could but. LOLLLL DO NOT PUT THEM IN A ROOM TOGETHER TO TALK ABOUT JUNKO OIAHJGIAI that'd be insane. no actually do it i want to see it i want to see Mikan go crazy and flat pack his ass like ikea furniture.
I'm also of the intense opinion that Mikan and Nagito do Not and Will not ever get on. Only because they're just. simultaneously too similar and too different. Like they're SO similar but they go about it in such different ways that i just think they'll never be able to fully understand each other so just cannot get along DESPITE having so much in common. like even before junko but ESPECIALLY after Junko. Also because its fucking hilarious to imagine. like its so funny. I think they should be allowed to hate each other actually. it'll probably be good for them.
I also. ofc. love the classics. I love Bandaid. its probably my main mikan ship tbh even tho i've become so fond of hajime/mikan. I just think. Ibuki would be like so good to balance her out. Bc ofc mikan is SO reserved and self-concious and Ibuki couldnt be either of those things if she tried. opposites attract. Also Ibuki is like. So emotionally intelligent? Idk if people really give her credit for that but like. God I loved her then i did her fte and that last bit where she reveals that like she just wanted Hajime to relax and shit oh my god i was blown out the water. Like OFC!!! OFC she's highly in tune w/ others emotions!! she wouldnt be able to form a band w/o that!! So i think that even though it may be a very intense version of opposites attract and Ibuki is very/...intense. oijaejoi . I think she'd be able to see where Mikan's true limits are and not force her past them, but be able to push her just far enough that she'd realise that like. it's okay to be yourself! its okay to say what you want! In that sense I think Mikan could probably grow as a character way more w/ Ibuki than w/ Hajime bc i think Hajime would treat her just too softly and not have the guts to push her in the ways she probably needs. Also i hc mikan as a hardcore lesbian so. Ya know OIGjoi
Wow ok i didnt think i'd have that much to say but u lit a fire under my ass anon! This is the most i've drawn in months LOL! There is a severe lack of Mikan on this blog considering how much i adore her so heres her w/ a few of my fave ships of hers. I love u so much i kiss ur forehead and tuck you into a rlly comfy bed and give u hot chocolate then read u a bedtime story. Also this is the treat at the end for anyone who actually read through all that bullshit OUHSEIOAJIOIJAIOJ

I saw your post about Kaz and Nikolai and I agree. I think they would be amazing friends. Do you have headcannons about that?
Tumblr media
thanks pal ive been DYING to ramble about this
When first meeting, Kaz develops some sort of respect for Nikolai cause A_man developed an entire alter ego for literally no reason and B_He was completely honest with him. He also seems to work by his own rules and Kaz relates to that.
Nikolai also respects Kaz, he can see hes a very intelligent young man (i mean he read him like an open book). He was quite impressed cause up till that point no one read thru him like that.
He also has the time of his life seeing all of kaz's plan unfold, he didnt know any of it (though he suspected something wouldnt go as planned). Everything was chaos and all he could do was look in amazement and try to figure out what his thought process was
While going back to ravka he IMPLORES nina to tell him everything about the heist and the auction and hes just amazed at A-the absolute CHAOS, B-the adventure (there where you see him hes quite an adventure and mistery novels fan) and C the fact that he managed to get that damn money.
But hey kaz isnt the only one who can read people, Nikolai can see that theres many gears working within Kaz, and sort of feels sympathy for him, not too sure why not like theyre literal parallel characters or anything but the gloves are a dead giveaway
Nikolai also feels sort lf protective over him for no reason. He feels the same way about Nina.
Listen, Kaz somehow enters in Nikolais bedchambers at the embassy. he has like maximum security. However, he doesnt calculate well enough so while hes still there, Zoya and Nikolai enter (i mean, i dont think theyd have a fixed schedule while in kerch at the time, considering the circumstances). Zoya suggests hes imprisoned and even killed for stealthing into the kings chambers and "possibly attempting regicide" but Nikolai is just impressed he kind of needs to ask him how he managed to enter.
And thats the story of how kaz taught nikolai lantsov king of ravka grand duke of udova how to open any kind of lock.
Kaz finds himself trustung Nikolai. He knows he shouldnt and he knows most of it is Political Charm™ but still
Nikolai reads him like a book and most of it is cause he can see himself in Kaz. Hes not called the King of Scars for nothing ad he can tell Kaz has some too
Oh and he confronts him about it, real big brother shit or whatever
(similarly to how he told alina to stop bitching and either get over mal or do something about him which is still iconic)
weirdly enough kaz listens to him 😶 character desvelopment yall special thanks to inej ghafa and nikolai lantsov king of ravka you know the rest
Kaz asks him about inejs parents pretty much as if asking a favour from a friend, its cute and extrangely vulnerable. Nikolai tells him that "he has a ton of money, he certainly can try"
Kaz is all scary and black clothes and sharp bone structure but to nikolai hes just a boy in need of a good time and hes very fond of him
They totally get drinks in kerch, as payment for teaching nikolai his Thief Secrets™. Its a good time, Nikolai talks a lot and Kaz listens to his stories and plans and opinions. Its good info and quite fun.
THE BANTER, they bounce off each other so well.
Kaz admires Nikolais ability to charm anyone. Not like he cant be charismatic himself, but the kings ways to make himself respected and not necessarily scary seem very useful to him.
Kaz picks up the "improbable" line
they have the same scheming face. I like to think zoya and jesper are quite freaked out about it. So is nina.
When nikolai goes back to ravka, they write to each other. It starts with the whole thing about inej's parents but it quickly becomes routine. Not too often, but at least once every three months.
Nik buys stocks at the Crow Club. When hes in ketterdam he likes to have a couple of drinks there and chat with kaz and some other people.
He like to joke with Kaz about hiring him to make his dads life impossible. and not gonns lie hes this 👌close to actually doing it.
Theres kind of an unspoken rule between them to not ask too much, but kaz is dying to know about the whole sturmhond stuff.
Oh Nikolai has definetely offered kaz a job in os alta but he refused
he also often offers him actual haircuts 😶
they have good laughs, i mean, its what hating the exact same kinds of people does to a relationship
Overall good partners in crime with a strangely fraternal bond

Six of Crows
Ketterdam is a city known for both its bustling trade and criminal underground—a place where anything can be bought for the proper price. Kaz Brekker, a lieutenant within a gang known as the Dregs, decides that his services can be bought for 30 million kruge. With the help of his elite crew of six members total, Kaz intends to free a Shu scientist, Bo Yul-Bayur, (known for his development of the drug jurda parem), from the impenetrable Fjerdan Ice Court. Can Kaz and his team succeed in carrying out the greatest heist of their lives?
I was so excited to finally both get my hands on this book and take the time to read it—its premise intrigued me and unique subject matter made it hard to resist. Unfortunately, Leigh Bardugo’s Six of Crows wasn’t everything I had hoped for. At first, I found the novel to be disorienting because it jumps right into things. As it progresses, it slows to a crawl that made it difficult for me to get through. I feel as though this stems from the amount of detail Bardugo poured into her novel, (e.g. about the setting and how the Dregs run). If these details were thinned, the novel would have moved at a far better clip.
Second, I longed for more detailed fight scenes. I felt as though combat was often glossed over or basic and generic—I would have loved to see something a little more creative from Bardugo. I also wanted some of my questions about Bardugo’s world, (which have been with me since I read the Shadow and Bone Trilogy), to be receive answers—they did not. I really want to know more about how the grisha small sciences work. What is the source of their power? How great is the hereditary component hinted at in the Shadow and Bone Trilogy? Etc.
Furthermore, I felt as though all of the major characters had an excessive back story but lacked distinct personalities and motivations outside of extremely basic longings for wealth, freedom, and the ability to start over. I would have liked to see more complexity within both these characters and their motivations, something to distinguish them outside of their skillset. For example, when Inej lived with her family, she was an acrobat who was taught to walk the ropes by her father and how to fall. Later, she was captured by slavers and became an indentured servant at the Menagerie until she was saved by Kaz when she whispered that she could help him. Nina grew up during the Ravkan Civil War. She was too young to fight and was sent into hiding with the other children, which led to an abrupt end to her training at the Palace. After the war, she was sent out to help find both rogue grisha and those in hiding because of her talent with languages. During this time, she was captured by the druskelle before making her way to freedom after surviving a shipwreck. If work at the White Rose and within the Dregs could be called freedom…
I believe that Bardugo relies on the detailed histories I’m describing to both make her characters likeable and relatable. Many individuals find themselves in scary situations, are separated from their parents… but it’s not enough for me. I want to feel as though each character within a story has their own unique personality as opposed to having merely a unique set of skills, (which helped with Kaz’s heist). I want to feel as though they’re reacting to an obstacle because of who they are as a person and in the way they are because of their personality, not just because they are being faced with one. And I didn’t feel as though this was the case here—I felt like each character merely reacted to stimuli in a way that suited their talents and nothing more. They didn’t feel like full, well-rounded people to me and that made it difficult to like or become invested in any of them.
Finally, I wondered where Kaz’s and Inej’s affection toward one another came from. It didn’t seem to make much sense—they didn’t seem to talk to each other very often or see eye to eye on most matters. My only consolation was that it didn’t encompass a large portion of the novel.
Honestly, the ending saved this novel. My only concern was that it might not have been worth the wait.
Rating: 3/5 stars

between the moodboards and some random blurbs/half-requests i’m feeling a little #scattered so this post is me getting shit all in one place, more for my own sake than anyone else’s.
my three kids so far (links to mary and evelyn’s moodboards included):
mary macallister / 24 / stray (undergrad) / hurricane child
evelyn carrow / early 30s / fangs alum (currently a liaison of some kind) / ice queen
kaz takigawa / 26 / faction tbd (undergrad) / sugar-and-ice
more deets on each of them and wanted plots are behind a cut bc i don’t want my wall-of-text to make the tag ugly, whoops.
mary is my baby and is basically an adaptation of a character i play on hp sites (i did not do much to change her name so if you’re at all familiar w marauders era stuff you should be able to figure out who she is lmao).
personality stuff: istp / sagg-scorpio cusp sun, scorpio moon, sagg rising / a mess of gryffindor and slytherin / 7w8
trajectory: since lore details aren’t all out yet, this isn’t Quite nailed down yet (is she promised to the military/intelligence community? just trying to get through excelsior and then do her own thing? dunno yet), but my intention is to have her be one of the subjects of Shadier experiments. her powers are definitely engineered rather than innate, so there’s maybe some ongoing “how far can her powers go” thing there.
currently torn between weather manipulation, enhanced senses, and adaptive intellect for her so, uh, stay tuned?? mary herself has mixed feelings about her powers; part of her is like “these is all more trouble than its worth” but the other part Loves having these abilities. she’s def a stray and i’ll probably be keeping her that way, at least to start.
plots i’d love for her: see here! tl;dr: slow build found family dynamics
evelyn is also a rough adaptation of a character i’ve played on hp sites bc i’m a character recycler, oops. she’s the eldest of three sisters, the children of the esteemed carrow family. she and her sisters were born with their powers, and evelyn is exactly the type that thinks that fact elevates her. she is the result of being the eldest child, of being born into a successful family, of having parents that have high expectations, and as a result she has insecurities and anxieties as big as the mountains excelsior is nestled in. not that you’ll ever know—she’s not the type to show vulnerability. like ever.
personality stuff:  intj or entj / some mess of scorpio and capricorn and maybe virgo? / slytherin oh my god such a slytherin / 3w4
trajectory: after she graduated from exelsior she probably moved into some position in the u.s. intelligence community (i’m leaning towards cia but may stick her in military intelligence, tbd), and then at some point became a sort of liaison between them and excelsior. she is, in some ways, a dressed-up headhunter, but ultimately: she’s looking to make sure she has her finger in as many pies as possible. she’s out to improve the lot of herself and her family and everything else is... completely secondary, ngl.
i’m still figuring out her ability; it may be related to emotional/mental manipulation of some kind, or intellect-focused, or it might be something unrelated and she’s just a natural at manipulating folks—tbd.
plots i’d love for her: a jaded/bitter ex (i imagine it did not End Well, lingering sexual tension optional but not required—i’d be down to explore either dynamic), the baby carrow sister (see here for more info), some budding “talent” she’s trying to recruit, faculty dynamics (i’m sure plenty don’t like/trust her, which i would love to play out), someone that gets under her skin and pushes her button, a rival of some kind?? idk what that last one would look which means i’m basically Open (probably someone she went to excelsior with, lbr)
kaz is a new character for me in some ways and familiar in others—he’s loosely based on a character i used to (and still do on the rare occasion) write a lot of fic for.
personality stuff: intj or istj, tbd / scorpio sun w gemini and taurus somewhere in there? tbd / slytherin w dashes of puff / type 8 (yeah just the 8)
trajectory: he’s just kind of starting to figure out that people are maybe starting to look up to him within his faction? he’s really into war games stuff bc it’s his outlet to proving he’s Worth Something (he’s, uh, got some family baggage he pointedly refuses to work through), and it’s kind of become central to his identity at excelsior. he’s a late entry to excelsior bc he was trying for a degree at a “normal” uni like his dad wanted (dad doesn’t have powers, mom did, mom is also currently... absent) but ultimately he made the switch, blah blah blah—beyond this i don’t have a whole lot of Specifics nailed down for him (which works bc he won’t have it all figured out either bc he’s also ignoring questions of “what comes after this” bc, uh... the future is scary, guys).
“em do you not have his power nailed down yet either?? really??” listen,,,,,,
plots i’d love for him: see here!

Little Crow 3
Masterlist
A lot of different people show up to the Slat looking for a job or just for solitude. The slat offered a home to grown men in trouble with the law and teenagers who have too many debts to pay. When the dregs open the door one day and see a cradle, offering only a note for explanation will their leader take the baby in or throw her back to let Ketterdam have it’s way with her?
A/N: Idk what this chapter was supposed to be about but here
“Crow’s made him soft.”
“Dirtyhands died the moment we brought that thing in the door.”
“Its been two years, has anyone seen him kill someone? Ruffed someone up for cheating at his club? No.”
The last comment was badly timed, as it was said just as the front door to the Slat swung open and the subject of their conversation walked in. Everyone was silent as they watched him calmly remove his hat, hanging it on a rarely used hook next to the door, he slid off his jacket, hanging that as well before turning around to face the few Crows sitting in the room that afternoon. They stared wide eyed at his gloved hands rolling his sleeved up to his elbows, there was something a bit too normal about the act to be done by Kaz Brekker. He didn’t do normal.
“Walls are thin in the Barrel, thought you were all smart,” he tsked, “thank you, Squealer, loyalty is always appreciated.” The red-haired boy earned the name for a reason, he smirked at his groups before dashing up the stairs, not eager to stick around for what was to come. The rest scowled after him, he was new to the team, still gaining their leader’s trust. “Don’t worry, he’ll be dealt with, if he snitches on you why should I expect him not to do the same to me.” They all nervously laughed at his statement, not willing to anger him anymore by staying silent. “Now, what is this I hear about me going soft?”
“It was nothing, we swear,” one said, his voice cracked but Kaz only looked at him, as if bored by the situation entirely.
The lone girl in the room looked around at her crew and scoffed, Kaz wasn’t surprised, Duchess wasn’t one to stand down from a confrontation. “Scaredy cats, all ya,” she said before standing. Despite her significant height disadvantage from the rest of the world, her stance made her always seem like the biggest person in the room, that is, when Kaz Brekker wasn’t present. He could see the ever-present unease people felt when he was around, he reveled in it. “Your little girl’s made ya soft, Brekker, you just ain’t the same as you were.” He admired her ability to tell things straight, however, he didn’t appreciate that she spoke to him like that.
“Get out, Viktorya,” he commanded. She was taken aback by her name, no one knew her real name, she’d never said it out loud since she moved to the city. Not even once. “Are you going to stare at me or get out before you make me angrier than I already am?” She gave one last look behind her and stormed out through where he’d just come. Kaz didn’t even flinch when the door slammed, he just watched the uneasy shifting of the men sitting in front of him. “She’s lucky she’s new, she doesn’t know enough for me to care where she runs off to,” he said, the three men jumped when the cane was lifted and pointed to them, “you all, however,” he shrugged, “different story.”
-
Up in his room he stared at himself in the mirror as he cleaned off. What they were saying was true, Dirtyhands seemed to be no more, and people were starting to notice. It wasn’t that he was actively trying to do better for Crow, it just sort of happened when she came along. He started giving second chances when he wouldn’t have before, he’d hit to prove a point and not to kill, he was changing and there was something he didn’t like about it. He needed to find someone who hadn’t paid their debt to make himself feel better.
Heading back down to his office to do paperwork, he found himself the subject of everyone’s attention. Everyone too scared to move an inch or say the wrong thing as he passed, making the trek down from his room eerie with the silence and all eyes on him. He expected it, he’d just crippled three of them to prove a point, it seemed to have worked. It wasn’t until he noticed a familiar mop of red hair poking out of a room did he stop.
“Squealer, follow me,” was all he said before continuing.
The young boy hurried after him, all confidence from before vanishing when he got knowing looks from everyone. This was routine, after all. When they reached his office, Squealer hovered at the door. “Come in and shut the door.” He quickly did as he was told but stayed as far from where Kaz took a seat as he possibly could. Kaz didn’t say a word, for almost ten minutes the boy was forced to stand quietly as he watched his leader shuffle around some papers and write some things down. Just as he opened his mouth the ask why he was there, Kaz looked up at him. “You’re not the first Squealer we’ve had,” he started. The boy gulped, already knowing the story of his predecessor. “A girl, younger than you, she told me about a few members who were planning a coup. Of course, I stopped it and got rid of the planners, dropped them one by one head first into shallow canals,” this part of the story didn’t worry him, it was what was coming next that had him growing more and more ready to run away. “She was good to me for a while, but then I learned she was feeding secrets to my enemies.”
“Mr. Brekker, I swear I won’t do that-”
“I know you won’t, Ilya, because your tongue will be fed to the same rats that took hers and you’ll join her scrubbing the floors of the Crows Club on your hands and knees until you’re too old and frail to be of any use to me,” he threatened, “you’re my personal mole and I hope you take this job seriously. You did good today and if it stays like that, you can expect to have this job for much longer than the last one.” He was finished talking but Ilya stood at the door, unsure if he was allowed to leave or not. “Get out, and clean yourself up I don’t need my crew smelling like urine.” He dashed out the second the words left his mouth, but before Kaz went back to his work, the door squeaked open, Ilya’s head popping back in.
“Flattery won’t get me anywhere, I know, but everyone who says your going soft is wrong. You’re still as scary as the day I heard about you, Mr Brekker,” he said. Kaz wanted to smile at the crack of his voice, when the door closed again he allowed himself to. The boy was young, only thirteen years old, he’d be scared of a mouse if it gave him the right look. Looking back down at his papers he sighed, if only everyone was like thirteen-year-old boys, but unfortunately that wasn’t the case and Dirtyhands had to make a few more appearances to make sure his reputation didn’t completely deteriorate.
-
Watching Crow sleep was a new favourite pass time of his. Ketterdam was a city that was always bustling with activity, Crow was the one thing that pulled him away from all that. Clutching her stuffed crow, which she had recently named Breck, she was completely at peace in a city that didn’t even know the word. He came over expecting her to still be awake, was actually surprised by finding her like this. She’d come to figure out his schedule for visiting, would even stay up for hours when he was late just to watch him creep into her room thinking she would be asleep. The first time it happened she’d managed to surprise him, the only person to ever accomplish such a thing. He was quiet, so quiet, but then he heard a scream and a giggle coming from the bed he jumped, not expecting it in the slightest.  Today was more of a surprise than then, however, her being fast asleep was a rarity that Wylan and Jesper celebrated every time it happened.
“I’ve changed because of you,” Kaz whispered, moving a piece of hair out of the girl’s face, “I might lose everything I built just because you took over my life.” Her eyes opened sleepily and he froze, scared that he’d woken her up.
“Da,” she said, her eyes closing again.
Kaz was frozen. Da. Did she think he was her father? If she would call anyone da is should be Wylan, he was the one who did the most for the girl. Kaz knew she grew an attachment to him but not on that scale. He was probably just being stupid, it was probably just baby gibberish that didn’t mean anything. Pulling on his coat and grabbing his cane, he couldn’t help but give the girl another confused look before walking out.
-
Sitting down at his old desk, he stared at the tiny piece of canvas he now kept with him. Crow stared back at him, smiling, Marya had done well with the painting. Wylan always joked that Crow didn’t have to hide from the world, she was too happy to have any relation to Kaz. Kaz wondered if he’d be better off if she was left on the Van Eck Mansion’s doorstep instead of his own. He’d have cared much less about the baby that way. He wouldn’t care about the man he was if she wasn’t left in his care. Even better, she wouldn’t have a care for him either.
Da. Her small voice kept replying in his mind and he couldn’t shake it no matter how hard he tried. He was not her father. He’d done nothing to provoke such an opinion in the last two years.
He often read the letter that he kept from her cradle, wondering why he’d been chosen by whoever it was to watch over the child. “She is one of you, I hope you will treat her as such.” He read that line over and over again. It was true but being one of him meant a life that no one should be forced to live. Leaving her with him had already forced him into thoughts about having the girl work in his gang when she was old enough, he hadn’t had a thought like that in ages but just the memory of giving her those slippers made him hate himself even more. This year her present was just a book filled with blank drawing for her to colour in. It was done by one of his more talented Dregs, a series of old gang symbols and places Kaz had done jobs, she wouldn’t understand it but he would find it amusing that she’d be scribbling all over places and people he did the same too, in his own way of course.
Maybe he was okay with Crow thinking of him as her father, he wouldn’t deny her being his to anyone who asked. Well, those he’d be willing not to lie to of course. If Jesper referred to her as his daughter, he’d take pride in saying yes, Crow was his. He'd secretly given her his family's name anyway. Maybe changing isn’t such a bad thing either, she could grow up knowing that Kaz Brekker wasn’t a monster without it being a total lie. He still had old reputations to draw on for intimidation, he was still Dirtyhands, just one that no longer needed to get his hands dirty is all.
A knock on the door pulled his attention away from the painting, no one ever bothered him when he was in his own room, it was an unspoken rule. However, he was thankful for the letter he was handed when he answered it.
“I’ll be on a ship to Ketterdam in one week, make sure there’s waffles” was all it said.
Kaz smirked at the paper, though it wasn’t signed, he knew exactly who wrote it by the neatly looped letters and just the mention of a crew favourite.
-
Nina Zenik had not changed in the last five years Kaz hadn’t seen her. She still wore her figure hugging dress, her brunette hair still fell down past her shoulders, and she still had crumbs in her cleavage. She hugged Jesper once she stepped off the ship and Kaz surprised even himself when he allowed her to wrap her arms around him as well.
“Getting soft, Brekker?” She asked, Kaz smiled and shrugged.
“Might be.”

CREEPYPASTA - HiHi Puffy AmiYumi ~ Episode 40
OBS: I purely made it out of creativity and entretainment pruposes. I don’t have the intention of offending any fan of the show Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi, because I’m one of them.
As you may know,HiHi Puffy AmiYumi was cancelled on October 2002,making five episodes be unaired for the public of United States (those five episodes were aired on other countries, from what I heard). Then, you may be wondering,”why the heck you are talking about a Episode 40″?
Calm down,I will explain.
My name is Pamela, and before this incident,I was a innocent fan of this show, having a collection of their dolls, the CDs avaliable on my city and I even played their two video-games,who were released on Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS. And soon,I devolped a curiosity to see the unaired episodes of the show. It was tough, because I had to learn Japanese, because of my decision to see the unaired episodes in Japanese.
I watched them with the help of Justin,my cousin that is three years older than me. He was a bit of a japan nerd, studying japanese language and trying to find every possible episode, cancelled or not, from all the shows he ever watched. Normally, they were animes or American cartoons with heavy influence from Japanse cartoons. Since HiHi Puffy AmiYumi is on the second category,he helped me on my search for the unaired episodes. After watching the 39th episode,I thought our search was over. At least, until he turned his head towards me.
“I actually found out a extra episode.“,he said.
“Oh really?”,I said, obviously, not believing on his word at first glance.
“Yeah,it was supposed to be a special episode to give a ending to the series. A friend of mine, who was a ex-worker on Cartoon Network, gave me the CD with the episode.“,he said, and showed to me the square box with the CD. It had a very simple lable, with the writting “HI HI PUFFY AMI YUMI - EPISODE 40″.
“Alright...“,I said, reluctantly, picking the square box containing the CD. That CD lable didn’t look like a normal CD lable you would find in a store. It was very homemade, and it had no Cartoon Network symbol, neither the original logo of the show, and much less the title of the episode, just the number. For a moment,I thought that this friend of Justin made up the episode and he felt for the prank. But nevertheless,I decided to watch it. Maybe this friend of Justin just edited an aired episode, combining scenes from various episodes,or even trying to make it more gore.
I decided I would watch the episode in the next day,but since Justin had a compromise to do,involving his father,he couldn’t watch the episode with me on the morning and neither on the afternoon. I wans’t exactly a coward,so I accepted the fate chillingly. I picked some water, inserted the CD on the CD Player, that appeared to be scratched but still useable, sitted on my couch, and waited for the opening.
The Opening was the regular one,but the animation was slower, the colors were slightly darker, and the music was slower as well. Nothing of demoniac. Actually, looked more like a video edition that failed on looking scary. Oddly, the title card showing the episode wans’t in the normal style, with the episode’s writter, the title of the episode on the upper left corner, and the mini-me’s of Ami and Yumi making a action that points the plot of the episode. It was a plain black screen with white letters.
“SPECIAL EPISODE - 40
      JULIE’S END”
When I saw the title of the episode,I thought the episode’s antagonist would be Julie from the episode ‘Julie AmiYumi’,one of those five episodes I talked about earlier. At first,it sounded cool and interesing for me. I remember that,on the end of Julie AmiYumi,Julie swore revenge on the rain while holding her keyboard guitar,so the thought that immediately came to me was that this episode would be about this revenge and her final defeat.
Suddenly, another white text appeared on the screen. It looked like the plot of the episode, because it was a simple phrase.
“Julie fulfills her revenge going to America. Ami and Yumi must stop her.“
...this plot was weird. I was aware that,in the pilot of the show, the protagonists moved from Japan to discover how America is weird, but its still weird. Maybe they wished to finish the series with a revamped and extended version of the show’s pilot. The black screen faded out,to a night scenary.
On the first scene of the episode,Ami and Yumi were searching for their manager,Kaz,trought the whole tour bus. In the end, they didn’t find him,but they found a letter. The camera zoomed to the letter. The letters were written on a green paint. This is what was written on it.
You won’t find Kaz on Japan anymore.
Go to America. I and my ‘friends’ will be waiting for you two...
KYAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
~Julie
Personally, for me,on that hour,I thought Julie’s plan would probably involve something related to steal all of Puffy AmiYumi’s American fans, since, apparently, she only wished to be as much loved as them. But also,a part of it sounded evil...after a dialogue between the heroines, they decided that they would go to the airport for America. Kaz meant well behind his actions, they said.
The screen filled with black, and a white text appeared, written “THREE AND A HALF HOURS LATER”.
After this message, the scene of the airplane arriving on Florida appeared. The pilot of the airplane said for Ami and Yumi an creepy-sounding “Good luck...and be careful”. I asked for myself why the tone about being careful. And suddenly, after a genuinely horrified gasp from the two...I found out the reason.
Many kinds of fans and paparazzi, walking around like zombies. Their bodies were normal, but their eyes were pure leaf green, and glowing savagely. They were hurting, kicking, punching the people that weren’t ‘possesed’,and some of them were even claiming more people to their side. And the worst. There was blood and serious wounds. Thankfully,in a cartoon style, but it didn’t low the brutality.
The duo had a dialogue about the shock their felt, the fear Kaz had suffered a similar fate, and their final decision: they would need to fight to free those people from the hypnosis. A fight montage began, with they punching the hypnotized people and, afterwards, recovering them with their music. This is what I would expect from a normal HiHi Puffy AmiYumi episode, excluding the blood of light cherry color that flied over the screen, some drops even hitting the screen and sliding down after hitting the screen.
After this, the episode began for sure.
It was a very long episode,it felt like I was actually watching a movie. Lets say that, until the final scenes,I remember the general happenings, but I don’t remember the extreme details. But to not keep this text longer, the duo had to go trought all the Florida state (oddly, the rest of the United States wans’t taken over by the hypnosis, strangely) to save everyone from the hypnosis, stop the zombies from invading the rest of America, and discover the responsible for it. Finally, before the really final scenes, the duo would discover that Julie was the very responsible one, trying to make a army to take over Japan, and also kill Ami,Yumi and Kaz for absolute revenge.
...I honestly don’t know what to say about it. It sounds like a stupid fanfic a 12-years-old wrote out,but at the same time,it sounded terrible, and suddenly the atmosphere was more serious. Julie, suddenly appeared, with a psychotic smile.
On the dialogue,Yumi and Ami tried to make Julie abandon this craziness and tell to them where Kaz is. Julie ignored. Finally, the heroines asked for the former member of their band about why she was doing it.
And she answered.
“Simple: you two stole my place, and I am here to claim it back.“
Then,a battle scene began. All the battle scenes of this movie/episode had blood, but this one had the most blood out of them. Julie was using two katanas,in a attempt to kill Ami and Yumi, and they were fighting back, but it looked more like a war between two mouses and a large, furious snake. To worse it up,every civilian that entered trying to stop the battle was somehow fatally injured and some were even killed.
On the middle of the battle,Ami and Yumi asked again where Kaz was. Julie stopped attacking and laughed, pointing to a hill. The camera paned there to show a stick of wood, with a recognizable head...
“NO!!”,Ami and Yumi said in unision.
“YES!”,Julie said,before resuming to laugh. She...killed Kaz.
Words couldn’t describe the shock I felt that hour. Seeing a character from one of your favorite shows being killed in a brutal way like that...
...I bet Ami and Yumi felt extreme sadness, because when they ran towards the stick, they kneeled and cried. Julie was right behind them, ready to kill them both and fulfill her revenge for sure. I screamed, thinking they would get stabbed, but right after I screamed, they turned around and pushed Julie.
Julie dropped the katanas, and Ami and Yumi picked them. They pointed it towards her head and suddenly, she kneeled, begging for mercy. Yumi told to her that she was a monster, and couldn’t believe she was once her friend. Ami told to her she was a ‘meanie’ who wished nothing but blood. Julie turned around, and she noticed that there was a cliff between her and her enemies. Then, suddenly, she got up,and released her last demented laughter. She closed her eyes and felt towards her back. The camera planned for the water as her body sinked on the water and a splash was heard. She killed herself, throwing herself on the water to drown up.
Ami and Yumi were shocked, even while they were honored as the Florida heroes. After burying their manager Kaz,they sadly returned to Japan, sad about their big loss. I really thought Kaz’ death would be faked out on the end,but it wans’t. He was dead, for sure. The series would end with Kaz dying.
Ami and Yumi returned to their tour bus,and decided that they would honor Kaz,despite the fact that he wans’t the bestest manager around.
Then, the credits played, with the theme music ‘remixed’ to a calm orchestra with female ‘ahhh’ vocals for the acapella. As the credits played and I enjoyed the calmer atmosphere of the credits,I began to reflect about why this episode wasn’t even known. The excessively long duration and the gore were the most logical answers for me. Maybe it would force the show,in the future,to be re-aired on adultswim, and it was directed for children,so the idea was dropped. But,how this friend of Justin found out the CD with the episode in the times he worked for Cartoon Network?...I must make Justin ask that to this friend.
Then,I saw there was a post credit scene,on the lake Julie drowned. Julie’s body (who had the same clothing she always wore, including on the episode ‘Julie AmiYumi’) was floating on the water, with a light blue skin color. The eyes were closed and she had a neutral mouth. Then, after four minutes,I thought the CD stopped working and I went to the CD Player to press the stop button. Then, out of NOWHERE,the camera locked on Julie’s face. Now,her eyes were widely open, black eyes with dark green pupils that looked like they were staring at me. Her mouth was open as well, purely black and dripping a black liquid. A horrid scream got out from the TV. I screamed and quickly pressed the stop button. I picked the CD and inserted it back on the square box.
“What was that?!”,that was my only thought. Now I found out good reasons about why information about this episode ins’t avaliable.
Right on the hour, which was midnight,my cousin Justin came home. He said a friendly “Hello!” for me,and I ran towards him to tell him about the episode.
“This is horrible!!”,I spoke in a furious, but scared voice.
“W-what? What are you talking about?”,Justin asked to me.
“You must see that until the end.”,I said to him, slowly calming down.
I inserted the CD back, and I rewatched the episode with him that midnight. He was as much as scared as me after the experience. I said that I wans’t angry at him,but I was wishing to know why his friend gave to him that CD. And he answered to me:
“Actually...he was the writter of the episode’s plot...he was kicked out of Cartoon Network because of the episode. He told me it,but he never told to me what was the episode.”
On that night,we destroyed the CD and threw it on the trash. When his friend called to him on the phone,Justin invented a excuse to escape with the fact that he helped me break the CD.
When I sleeped,I had one of the most terrible nightmares of them all. I was in my couch, with the TV in-front of it. But besides me,the TV,the couch, and a visible part of the ground, everything else was black. The TV was emitting static. Someone hands hanged on the TV’s screen and crawled out of it,in Samara’s fashion. I screamed in horror, but a suffocated noise came from my mouth. When I noticed,it was the dead Julie who was crawling out of the TV. A realistic version of her.
Screams and more screams came to my ear as she slowly got out of the TV,crawled towards me and grabbed me by my shirt’s collar, forcing me to stare at her smile. Her terrible smile with dead eyes. The screams slowly faded out,and before I could be fully consumed by the darkness,I heard her speak:
“Its not over,Pamela. You destroyed the CD,the mistake you should have never done. I am free now. I can’t kill you,but I’ll torment you and your family as long as you exist.“
It has been three months since the incident. My family,my sisters,my mother,my father and my aunt, all of them claim to see a creepy figure with apple green hair on their nightmares, and hallucinations of them. I know about who they are talking about, because I can see her. I can see Julie, staring at me trought my windows,my bed,my computer screen, trought the TV...I see everywhere on my house. I even became more of a person that travels alot just to escape from her.
So,if you still are reading this...please,understand. HiHi Puffy AmiYumi ins’t as innocent as we all are lead to believe.
I have to move to my cousin’s house. Its the only way I can escape from her.
Julie.

Crooked Kingdom (So/c 2)
(2/5*)
I still just can’t get on board with this one.. I really wanted to. I enjoyed SoC, well, the last half of SoC, and was told it all gets better once you get to that point. I was told that Crooked Kingdom is all go, totally action packed and awesome. Boy howdy what a letdown. I suppose it was action packed, but it was all over the place and not very gripping. Not once did this really pull me in.
It gets long, and spoilery at the end.
The Good:
Nina! I thought I was going to hate her back in the beginning of SoC but she was possibly the most dynamic character out of all of them even to the end. Her story (besides that One Terrible Thing) was done justice. She was fleshed out. And then done a terrible injustice with that One Terrible Thing. Nina was struggling through withdrawals on top of her demons and figuring out who she is again, all while still being a badass involved in the many shenanigans of this book.
Wylan & Jesper. Again they are cute idiots and I love them. They both felt more real this time around, more meat to their personalities and neither of them got killed off. that’s the dream. That’s the real gay agenda.
The Bad:
Kaz. He’s the most boring main character ever. Everything is way too easy for him. Everything goes exactly according to some crazy plan he *just thought of*. He gets out of sticky situations with ease, even with a busted leg. Every time one of his plans went how it was supposed to (spoilers: every damn time) he makes some like *mic drop* comment that makes me hate him even more. The way his plans are written sometimes isolates the reader. “It worked because this thing I did that I didn’t tell anyone about and I’m the best” *mic drop*. He is written as someone Much older than we’re supposed to believe he is, which has always been my struggle with all of these characters. I think it just shows so much more blindingly with Kaz. Even if his whole life has been a struggle and he’s a hardened criminal... he still doesn’t have the thought processes of a 17 year old. He’s talked about as being some genius more than it is actually shown.
Only maybe Jesper & Wylan kinda seem like teenagers. I’m pretty convinced Bardugo was writing this book as adult fiction and then decided she wanted it to be YA after all and just reduced their ages down in number but nothing else. If I read them as 30-40 year olds it’s much more pleasant, but she has to keep reminding everyone they are ~17~ and that just ruins it all over again.
Inej. I liked her enough in SoC, but here she is reduced to just.. not much. Everything about her, in reference to her, that she says or thinks, is repetitive. I know I read the same line about her several times throughout this book. Her storyline in Crooked Kingdom felt like a constant backpedal. Like ooo we’re getting somewhere, she’s going to overcome something... and then we loop back to the starting position again. Just.. frustrating. No growth. Treading water.
A few paragraphs ago I say it is action packed. And it is, but that is not a good thing here. The fast pacing was a major downfall. There’s so much going on, so many odd plot lines. The beginning of SoC felt the same way for me. It feels like running loosely related errands. “We have to do this thing before we can do this but we also have several more things to do and...” ok. It’s like questing on Runescape but Worse. Do we need to pick up some milk on the way over also, Kaz? A lot of these plot lines / devices also kinda got abandoned. Really just feels like trying to rush through these smaller events to get to the Big Bad Event, not giving anyone time to process what just happened. There are no feelings, its just happening. There’s no real consulting about what they’re going to do, because Kaz is the ~mastermind~ and hes so ~witty~ and always just has the perfect plan that will go off without a single problem. I guess she is writing another book? But I’m pretty sure that is an afterthought. No Grisha uprising? No actual problems with Parem? hokay. sure. just gonna build to an actually interesting and good plot and flush it down the harbor in favor of a) another heist basically b) a boring ass villain who is really just a rich dude in a suit.
Dunyasha. Another rush through plot device. She’s incredible. She’s lovely. She’s going to murder Inej.. but nope. She was not done justice. Inej was so worthless during their fight, just getting stabbed left and right and not being able to fight back. I wanted more Dunyasha. Not just ~defeated~ and then is nothing more.
Van Eck was underwhelming as a villain. He was too easily defeated because ~kaz the mastermind~ He gets hauled off to jail.. for “committing” fraud... h’okay. and the gang gets all his money. woo. hoo. he did not have enough face time. there was basically no interaction with him. He was just some dull politician.. oo scary.
The vicious coupling. I’m literally just going to paste from my SoC review because its the SAME THING. “ It may actually be possible, wait wait hear me out, to end a YA series without pairing up EVERYONE. You can even end it without pairing up anyone. I mean yay a little nibble of lgbt rep, I’ll take what I can get. But ugh does everyone have to be together? It doesn’t bode well for plot/character development in the next book. Because that just sounds like a good plot device- oh wait! that is what it is! With Inej being kidnapped!”
Ummm this was basically SoC but just like. slightly different plot. Exact. Same. Algorithm.
The Really Bad.
KAZ OWNS INEJ KAZ, A STRAIGHT WHITE MALE, OWNS A SULI GIRL “The Suli, being a nomadic, stateless people, may have been influenced by Jewish or Romani cultures.” and the main character of this book. OWNS ONE. ONE WHO HE CALLS HIS INVESTMENT CONSTANTLY. THE BROWN GIRL HE OWNS IS ALSO HIS LOVE INTEREST???????” PLEASE. STOP SWEEPING THIS UNDER THE RUG. THIS SHOULD NOT BE OVERLOOKED. tHIS WAS PUBLISHED IN 2016 HOW IS THIS OKAY yall really out here ignoring some severe issues just because you love this ~tortured past~ ~witty haha~ ~genius schemer~ nasty vile 1 dimensional boring brick of a character
Matthias.
The character with growth and depth. The love interest of the other character with depth.... suddenly dead. His death was so dumb. It really came out of nowhere. We go through all this with him just for him to be expendable. No one even cared? Nina did, but the others didn’t have any thoughts about it. He did not deserve this. Nina did not deserve this. If anyone had to be viciously coupled, it should have been them. It made sense for them.
I wasn’t really planning on doing a full review, I didn’t want to put the effort in. But it kept bothering me, and I’d remember more things that bothered me. So here we are. I didn’t want to just hate on a book without thoroughly getting into it.

17, 18, 31, 41
17. character you don’t understand the hype over?
fuckin. big boss dude. i mean i like him alright but i just don’t understand the popularity? he ain’t that great. solid is, like, waaaay more interesting as a character imo (ppl are free to like him ofc i’m just not rly Invested like i am w/snake)
18. game you think is underrated?
okay lloyd we both know why u asked this and we both know what i’m gonna say
its mgs2
like ok in the tumblr fandom its decently popular but when i was a wee lad on the internet i used to run into cishet dudebros who thought 2 sucked bc of raiden and i would get in fights with said dudebros (mostly on like. random forums where i’d make an account just to fight and then leave) because i love mgs2 with every fiber of my being and i realize now that a lot of people also love mgs2 with a similar passion but i still maintain that until every soul on earth loves mgs2 it is underrated ok its so fucking good
31. a character you relate to?
i think we all already know how much i relate to raiden so i’m actually gonna talk about another character i relate to bc i don’t wanna bore the world with me talking abt how i relate to raiden again. so uh actually i also really, really relate to kaz??? which alright i could have guessed going into peacewalker and mgsv (and then coming back around to mg2 when i realized i still relate to miller when he’s old and sad and not just young and sad, go figure). like idk i relate to his younger peacewalker persona w/the performative charm and the trying to get laid mostly to avoid thinking about being sad, and in like a totally different way i can relate to the whole anger/vengeance thing in mgsv and i my bpd ass rly rly relates to the way he clings to bb and hates and loves him at the same time bc that’s classic borderline behavior and i have done the same thing to so many ppl so many times dude
41. how did you play the games: chronologically or by release date? which order do you think is better?
alright so, originally i played mgs2 first bc my friend’s brother had it and i wanted to play it bc i saw raiden and he was cute and then like.,.. that was it. i read a summary of mgs1 so i could figure out what was actually happening when i replayed it (tho i ended up playing it like... four times before mgs4 came out). i didn’t play 1 bc i was like “ew ps1 game those are hard and scary” (keep in mind i was literally 8) and i skipped mgs3 bc i didn’t care about big boss (some things never change lmao). i played mgs4 when it came out when i was like 12-ish and basically cried myself to sleep for like months and had a mini gay awakening when i realized how gay hal and dave are for each other (once again, some things never change). and then after watching a lp of mgs1 and a year of perusing fanfic and writing things that were once posted on ff.net but have since been lost to the ether, i left the fandom for like 6 years. and then last january i showed my best friend and my bf that part in mgs4 where otacon tells u to change the disc and then he’s like “o wait this is a ps3 lol” and that somehow convinced them that it was time for them to experience the series and we played thru the entire thing in order of release.
