BAC: SECOND VIEWING NOTES!
Yeah i went again on sunday and really wanted to cry after because it's over forever Q_Q i am inconsolable but for the fact that there may be a halloween party... but uhhhhhhh anyway here's what I noticed this time!!
(also here's the notes from my first time for reference [x])
Ad libs:
Final show energy & lots of ad libs! Which were apparently real unscripted ad libs!! A lot of them were just little things (so I can't recount most of them) but they were very very good. the blorbos became real people for a second there
When Rich is looking for Mountain Dew Red at the party, Jenna appears and says "I have Mountain Dew Blue?" and he explodes at her (possibly "Not now, Jenna!")
When Christine and Jeremy talk together at the party, they're sitting on beanbags; after they get scared off by the skeleton guy, they're laughing and crawling back to their seats - Christine, through laughter: "oh where's the beanbag...."
Changes (?)
VIMH: Rich: "The ladies are gonna get to know the real Richard Goranski... And the dudes." Then he stares into the distance for like 30 seconds (a very long time), making calculating gestures in the air (like the woman with math meme) before going "Oh. My god............... I am totally bi!"
Maybe wrong, but I swear there was a wind part added to the middle of Michael in the Bathroom??? I thought it might be a flute or digital flute..... but as a flautist I might be projecting.....
The Play: Multiple thin green lights flickered down on people as they got squipped, with a cute video game chime sound. But fairly certain this was always there and I just noticed it this time lmao
Smartphone Hour: Background acting on the little platform at the very back of the stage: a scooby-doo esque chase sequence where a firefighter rushes on from SR and disappears SL (implied Jake's house is SL); the fireman reappears with Jake in his arms and runs back SR to safety. Then Jake runs back across to get something from his house and the fireman is trying to stop him. Then Jake runs back out of the house holding a teddy bear he saved from the fire; the fireman is chasing him back out of the house. It was fucking hilarious 10/10 especially because I couldn't be sure if it was a new addition or if I just completely filtered it out last time like a basketball gorilla dslfjdslfk
Also on Jake: between the teddy bear and the Upgrade scene (also detailed by Dani) where he's talking about archery while holding a plush duck - unsure dramaturgically if it's supposed to be a real dead duck or a toy, but anyway.... Jake who likes stuffies??? IDK if I buy it but I don't know enough about Jake to NOT buy it and its also a very fun headcanon I think so it's going on the pile for me. he can collect plushies with jeremy as far as im concerned dsljfsdkfjs
Oh yeah Jeremy also had a big white duck plush on his bed. edit: this is actually a seagull plush! Its name is Katie and it belongs to stage crew member Anya!
More details I saw this time
General
Christine actor was actually amazing she has this giggly honk voice she uses when being like obnoxiously loud and silly and idk how to describe it but such intense LOUD SILLYGIRL ENERGY. A little different than the chris im used to and it was fun to see another version of her!!
Maybe I'm insane but I think Christine also pronounced Jeremy kinda like 2 syllables (Jare - me). This extremely slight difference somehow led to me perceiving her singing "Is he worth it? Germyyyyyyy!" IDK Sorry Jaclyn if you are reading this ldksfjdlsk
Lots of times when Jeremy is talking about becoming cool he does little hip gyrations (think Rich at the urinal i guess but more subtle)
Jeremy does this thing where he holds his hand bent stiff with his fingers all together and taps hard on his right temple to express some kind of frustration with the SQUIP- e.g. when he's trying to get the SQUIP to turn on after the first day; during the end of the Halloween party, etc. Actually it very much has the same conceptual energy as "C'c'c'come on....." now that I think about it
Michael blows a cloud of smoke during a few of his entrances (MTS and maybe Halloween - or that was Dustin maybe)
He also uses a vape pen I think? When he says 'we gotta get stoned in my basement'
Preshow montage
Before the show, there's a montage of screenshots from the teens' lives on the back wall --- that is, their selfies and their text convos. Pretty sure the texts were that gossip submitted by fans? I only remember two:
"i heard that guy who wears hoodies all the time only listens to weezer" <- (I only noticed this one 'cause it KILLED ME honestly I feel like Jeremy would love Weezer and Michael would hate it sdjkfljdsf ) edit: this text was submitted by @/thesquirrelqueer!
I don't remember who was on which side, but Brooke or Chloe sending Chloe or Brooke a big comforting text after her breakup and making plans to go get ice cream I think?
MTS
"Dad haven't you ever heard of privacy?" He says this while putting on his belt after the opening.
Jeremy's actually gesturing towards his locker for like the entire conversation between Brooke, Chloe, Jenna; when they notice him finally it kinda looks like he's just pointing at them and that's part of why they think he's weird I think?
M: "Humanity has stopped evolving!" Jeremy then takes like 20 seconds of looking confused before going (approximately) "is that supposed to be good...?"
"Christiiiiiine Canigula!" Each Christine section he eventually (around 3rd time) starts using this fanboy totally-losing-his-mind-over-this voice which is REALLY hard to describe but i'll try: like lower & less articulate, like how it sounds when you raise your soft palate (?), and going up at the end kind of laugh-like like he's really excited. (For a bmc reference maybe sounds a little like will roland's tone in i even got some blood flowing / with no computer screen around). Anyway i'm not gonna lie it did make him sound really lame jsdlkfjdsf
"Why can't someone just help me out?" As Jeremy sings this bridge it's all dark except for a light on him. Students line up chairs behind him and sit down. At this line, two guys walk forwards on either side and touch his shoulders (looking kind of solemn / sympathetic) , and guide him back to sit in the chair in the middle. Then the lights come up on everyone and more group choreo wheeee
Post-ILPR MTS reprise
Christine: "Sorry, Jeremy, did you say something?" -> after this scene, she runs off giggling loudly, apparently glad to not be interrupted and VERY visibly excited about Jake asking her out
Jeremy sings "I don't wanna be special / Don't even want to survive...." (Instead of usual "Don't even need to survive.") Not sure if it was intentional but it happened at both shows I saw and made me sad both times noooooo........... guy...........
Squip song
Rich actually rubs his hands all over Jeremy's face (in addition to his arms)
"Top secret can't even look it up on the internet type shit": Rich looks to the side and mimes a rectangle (computer screen) then mimes typing where the keyboard would be
2PG
"I don't want that to be my future! Sad, and alone, and ... " - The music cuts out at "sad" instead of at the beginning of this line.
On their relationship in general, I think Michael irritates Jeremy more than fanon typically has it lol. Very excitable Michael who kinda lacks volume control (in several scenes - including VIMH even after Jeremy tells him to be quieter). Constructive interference of autism etc etc
(Again fun to see this!! as a jeremy stan i am definitely guilty of making michael a godlike perfect friend to jeremy and like.. no... they don't actually mesh that well even just in the script!! Often times Jeremy doesn't understand or care about the things Michael says. So yeah absorbing this into my headcanons now thank you)
Also back wall was this like vaporwave looking low-poly 2 person first person shooter game footage (think wolfenstein but with a very different aesthetic - purple and blue, and i think with some objects depicted in mesh).
BMC P1
When Jeremy's spasming on the ground (last time I thought he looked mostly in pain - this time he was vibrating a bit more like he lost muscle control) - local build-a-bear employee Jared Kleinman (JARED KLEINMAN...) and some other people start filming him.
Jared keeps filming him through the scene until SQUIP: "All they see is you having an animated conversation... with yourself." Jeremy turns and notices him; Jared doesn't stop filming but just waves at him nonchalantly (in a mocking way like hey buddy welcome back to reality)
Jared also has a BaB apron and BaB backpack on (or a bear sticking out of his backpack i dont remember). Pretty sure he also had a bear with him in another scene, probably Halloween?
"Lookin pretty sexy, brooke" -- says it in like a low Elvisy voice (like will connolly)
BMC P2
"Everything about you is going to be wonderful" -- Jeremy rolls up his cardigan sleeves so they're just below the elbow. (One of them slipped back down and he put it up again but I didnt think it was intentional lol). I was surprised how much instantly cooler that made him look but maybe that's just because my older brother wears his sleeves like that ljdsfkdsfklsfdlk
......also note that MICHAEL usually wears his sleeves rolled up like that in this production.... inch resting.....
MTS reprise
When the lights first come up, Jeremy is snoring with his head hanging off the side of the bed. He stops breathing for a second, then jerks awake.
GTIKBI
Chris: "I know you and Jake used to date...." Chloe and Brooke simultaneously go "Oh my god, no!!!" --- Chloe to Christine (mockingly), meanwhile Brooke is unrelatedly browsing her phone and says it in distress because she (implied) has just seen that Eminem died. As convo continues, Brooke sits next to another student (Leo Collins?) and shows them the article. (She still says 'yeah jake is so gross' to Chloe, just sounding upset)
Upgrade
I ALREADY SAID THIS BUT JEREMY AND BROOKE WERE SO CUTE TOGETHER JLKSDFLDFSJ. I decided to only watch them during this song (/ _ \) Based on their acting when they walked near the stage stairs, they had climbed to the back of the bleachers and were walking precariously on the outside of the railing - specifically, they went over the stair railings - first Brooke and she teeters a bit and jokingly pretends like she's gonna fall off; Jeremy goes under the rail, comes up on the other side and does a gesture like *tada!*. Then they sit down together and are talking and its just really cute. making me ship puppy love over here jdsifojdslkfdjsflk
Halloween
Michael was at the dance in costume - during a certain point (I think right before Rich starts losing it) Michael gets lost out of the group choreo, seems to be stressed out and runs off stage (presumably to the bathroom)
One of the guys is dressed up like Guy Fieri and it's really good. Like I remember last time I even had a moment where I realized I was interpreting this actor as playing The Real Guy Fieri At Jake's Halloween Party. Also in MITB he uses his hat (which is a combo of visor and fake hair) to knock on the door.
DYWH
Chloe: "...rock this baby fast asleep" then, laughing: "Goo goo ga ga!!" and she kinda topples onto him. The actress said she got this from the West End production!
When Jeremy says "I can't stand up." It was kind of implied it's because he has an erection not because his legs are frozen; right before this line he stands up then sits down and puts a pillow in his lap. Either way though ig it was still the SQUIP stopping him (S: "you're welcome.")
GTIKBI reprise
as Dani pointed out, Christine was sitting kinda numbly on the beanbag with headphones on; she takes them off when Jeremy starts talking to her.
Voices in my Head
Jeremy's wearing an X-Men shirt!
Re: expensive headphones - Michael's rubbing Rich's shoulders (???) when he says "I'm sure someone would be lucky to have you" (and then of course he still says but not meeeee while sending him flying)
"Throw you a rope home slice if you need some dope advice" Jake fist bumps with Jeremy (or equivalent gesture i dont remember)
Stagedorks kiss: after C says yes, they walk to the center of the stage. Jeremy rushes forwards and puts his hands on her cheeks (i think?) to pull her into a kiss. They separate, beat, then Christine goes forwards again and they have a long slow kiss while the ensemble keeps dancing and singing around them.
Not intentional i dont think but Patrick the Jeremy actor was crying a bit at the end /( T_ T \ )
OK YEAH i might add more to this if I remember and/or edit it back into the first post...... but hope that was fun to read????

Just some blue guy is back again! As much as I want to share my collection with pictures…I cannot due to anxiety. But! And I hope you don’t mind. I can describe some of the things to give an idea (and also because I really want to! I’m not very good at talking or coming up words but I love describing things!!! If that makes sense)
So to start, I have a lot of plushies and my favorites usually have blue in them. I have a few that are gifts! Like my vivid blue monkey and my white fox puffpal with blue accent I mentioned before in another ask. I also have a collection of eeyore in various sizes and my precious donald duck nuimos plush (he is so very cute) I want to get more donald duck plushies but for some reason he is hard to come by at cheeper prices. I have a small Bluey plush! Her sister Bingo too since she is my favorite. The delivery package they came in said “Set of 2. Do not separate.” So Bingo is allowed in my blue collection even though she is orange :3 Lastly I have my tiny bedtime bear carebear plush i’ve had since a very young age. I used to have more but they got lost in moving a long time ago. He was my first plush I ever became attached to so I am very grateful he is still here.
I didn’t realize this would be this long…I only talked about my plushies! I will still continue though. Most of everything else is random stuff. I have a lot of stationary but if you look at it will be very obvious what color I prefer. My favorite is all my Japanese stationery! When I look for lighter blue stationary, the Japanese brands always have it and sometimes come with cute animals on it! My favorite is a baby blue notebook with penguins on it from Daiso, all my blue Sarasa pens, and my blue Kuru Toga pencil.
This might be too long now so I will speed up. Some little things I have: a pair of vivd blue crocs I use as house shoes! Most of my handheld Nintendo systems are blue or teal! My DSi, 2DS XL, and my Switch lite is the teal one. If I buy earbuds they are always blue! I’m working to get a permanent and more expensive pair right now so I don’t continue to temp myself to keep any pair that breaks due to the color. Oh! This is new but I have a toy chest for my plushies and its blue tooo as well as a small blue box covered in stickers for my stim toys! And I have a kinda large collection of blue cups, bowls, jars, thermos, food containers, etc. (I use them all!) my bedroom walls are purplish blue! But that’s because i’m lucky, my mom picked the color a long time ago before I moved in this room. Maybe one day I’ll change it to my favorite blue?
This is like an essay now so i’ll finish with my two current favorite blue things! First my purely a vivid sky blue umbrella that I had sitting in my wishlist for 2 years since it was a 40$ unnecessary buy. Last year in November it went on sell for 15 dollars and I was so so happy to get it!!! I always wanted one just like it since I was a little kid so i’m so happy to have it :D Lastly, is a gift from my sister: a small keyboard with very loud and clicky blue and white keys!! It also has LED backlights i made blue!! I love it so much!! Its like a giant stim toy that I can use all the time!!! And its so cute!!!!
ok I am done. I have more blue things and I didn’t get to mention any of my teal and indigo stuff but this is enough I think! Thank you for reading all this if you do and for letting me ramble. I just really wanted to talk about my blue stuff. I want my collection to to get big and strong :]
Omg thank you for this!!! This has made me so happy to read!! I love your collection!!
I also have a toy box full of stuff, but it's not blue! It's mostly stim toys, stationary stuff, and bags of stickers, crayons and colouring books!
May your blue collection grow!!! 💙🩵💙🩵💙🩵

my dream room
the rest of the house wouldnt matter, i wouldnt leave my room.
the walls would be painted black. pink shelves sit, cluttered and haphazardly nailed apon them. manga of all colors cover the many of shelves, while the rest hold sakura hatsune miku and my melody and kuromi figures. the door is too close to it's second wall to hold a shelf. on the other side of the door, theres a metal coat hanger covered in black hoodies and coats and my white plush bunny backpack.
following the wall to the right-hand corner is a big stuffed animal pile. soft plushies of sanrio characters and my little ponies and gloomy bears and gloomy bunnies (my favorites). against both the right wall and the wall parallel to the door sits my bed. my cute pastel-rainbow comforter is kicked off the end of the bed, showing the black sheets underneath. white you cant see the blood stains very well, suspiciously places white smears shine throughout the sea of black. my big unicorn lays on top, against the wall with one of his arms out reaching as if he is saying "itll be okay, come give me a hug." his head rests apon my vintage carebears pillowcases, ive had thouse since i was a little kid. my favorite gloomy bunny, the pink one with rainbow ears and feet, sit on my pillows. even with the cum and blood and crumbs in the bed, it seems so welcoming and comforting. as if nothing more in the world would feel safer than snuggling up in that dirty bed.
the wall next to the bed has a nightstand. small and wood, shittily painted white. atop it sits a bottle of vodka, a boxcutter, and 2 razor blades. one of them is new, i guess the other one is getting dull. My computer's here too, kinda surprised i didnt just leave it on the bed again.
next to that, a window with both blackout curtains and sheer pink curtains. you dont need to see the sun if you cant bare it, but if you can, you can at least see it cute and sweet like candy.
most of the shelves sit on this wall. between two of them sits a collage of both Kurt Cobain and photos of my mother when she was my age. Kurt and Courtney's love sweetly contrast my mother's red hair blue cardigan vodka holding teen photos. Theres some photos of her at Rocky, too. my grandpa used to tell me never to become my mother, before he got cancer. i didnt become her, pop-pop, i became worse.
the final corner of the room, basically in front of the door, sits a dresser overflowing with black and white and red and pink clothing. most of my clothes are stolen from clothing donation boxes outside the grocery store. i tear them up and dye them with arylic paint and scribble on them with sharpies in and pathetic attempt to feel unique and express myself. as if i change my clothes enough to need all of them.
on top of the dresser if another old photo of my mom. black and white, wearing my favorite sweater. next to it sits Shadow's ashes and leash. i can never bring myself to get rid of it. next to that, a spider corpse i preserved when i was 13. somehow it still hasnt decomposed, ive never changed the alcohol in it. next to that, the skull of a deer. i watched that deer decompose over a year or so when i was 14. ill never know how it died, but ill cherish its beautiful life forever as it sits on my dresser.
you can watch me walk back into my room now. i act like youre not standing oddly at my dresser as i stumble back into my bed. im wearing a black tank top and pastel purple velvety shorts. god knows how long ive been ana, yet somehow my fatass is still 140lbs. my left arm is covered in cuts, to the point it looks like there isnt even skin there anymore. my right arm just has a few deep ones, same with my left thigh. my right thigh has a huge heart carving within it, right above the knee. i hope you think its as pretty as i do, ive been working on it since i was 12. i curl up into the arms on my unicorn, wrapping them around me. i reach for my laptop and turn it slightly so it doesnt hurt my eyes to look at.
i think its time for you to go.
thank you for stepping into my mind.

🎠Laughing Jack🎠|| Carousel
Fluff one-shot x gn!reader— only warning is angst (2.6k)
Inspired by: Melanie Martinez
Tumblr media
After months of endless nagging you finally convinced Laughing Jack to let you visit his amusement park. He had claimed it was too scary and you would get creeped out but you weren’t one to take no for an answer.
Giving you a piece of candy so the trans-dementional trip wouldn’t be too hard on you. Tasting the sour lemon taffy he gave you and making a tense face as the flavor pulled at your taste buds and stuck to your teeth.
Your head getting dizzy as your surroundings warped and his room became red and white vertical stripes. Blinking a couple times as he leaned into your face, “are you alright?”
“I’m fine!” You told him, almost falling back at how close he was. As soon as your perception adjusted you looked for the exit to the tent you were inside. “Onward!” You said excited, marching comedically to the entrance flap.
“This isn’t exactly the safest place”, he called from behind, catching up with ease because his legs were so long. “You need to stay close to me at all times” you smiled at him, it’s not like you were complaining, “got that?”
Giving him a keen nod you stepped out of the grand tent. Squinting at the sky, which was tainted a dusty gray, swirly clouds amber of scattered around in the background. The carnival was beautifully revolting, with littered attractions as far as the eye could see.
The place looked somewhat abandoned, if you get past the faint cries of children, from their souls stored in toys. Rides that once colored a vibrant red had paint chipped, specks of dull metal flaked over the bars.
Game stands broken down and leaning unsteadily, disturbing toys with eyes and limbs missing hanging from the top. It looked like it might fall down at any minute, but you couldn’t help but notice the newer looking boxes of supplies lying around next to the stands.
Fairy lights hung from the tilted signs, decorating the food court. A fresh trail had been made between the rides.
It warmed your heart that he had made subtle efforts to fix the place up, he certainly didn’t think you would notice.
Looking back at his nervous smile, Jack was terrified you would hate the place. You thought all but the opposite, giving him a big grin. Your expression relaxed him, assuring him that you wouldn’t think he was a freak and leave. His whole demeanor shifting, making him more comfortable and even enthusiastic.
Straightening out and giving you jazz hands, “what are you waiting for?” putting one hand on his hip to motion you to the park with the other “lets go have fun!”
Following behind you with a giggle as you approached the carnival games. The ring toss looking somewhat appealing in between the other activities, so you told him you wanted to play.
“Basically you get 5 rings, if you get at least 3 in the pins you win a prize” he explained.
“Alright alright lemme try” you waved him off, snatching the rings and giving one a toss. It missed, you brushed it off. The second one made it in and Jack gave a little cheer, it still wasn’t enough.
Hyperfocusing on the pin in the middle make a soft throw upward, the edge hitting the top of the pin and falling to the side. You gave a groan, calculating your last two throws.
Your forth throw made the pin to the side, and you only had one more try left. Aiming for another pin at the side to release, the ring clanging against it and falling to the floor.
You went to look at Jack with a frown but he wore a happy expression, “you won!” He exclaimed. Confused you turned back, finding the ring you had just tossed around the last pin. You were completely certain you had missed it, racking your mind for an explanation as jack handed you a small purple bunny that was missing an arm.
Realizing that Jack had manipulating the game so you could win, throwing him a knowing glance. He just happened to be looking away, whistling guiltily.
Squeezing the bunny you moved onto the next game, it was ballon dart toss. The stand had pale red and black balloons scattered across a board. Excitement was written all over his face, you cocked an eyebrow in question.
“It’s a two person game!” He said, “whoever pops more balloons wins!”
He handed you four darts and kept four for himself, “you can go first” he motioned with a grin. Pacing the dart in two fingers a couple times before throwing at a balloon. Giving a groan when you missed and waiting for him to go.
Being as skilled as he was he managed to land one in a bullseye. “Oh it’s on” you dared, getting one point yourself. LJ got the second one too, staring at you intensely as you evened out the score.
Giving him a small smile as the dart broke the surface of the balloon with a sharp noise “pop goes the weasel right?” You laughed, referring to his famous song.
He looked at you almost in shock, taken aback by your joke. Shaking himself into reality he broke out in a light blush, a part of him touched, as if you were accepting him for who he was.
Too distracted by your eyes on him to play the game with concentration. Missing the third one with a growl he waited for you to take your turn, which you lost. It was the last point and Jack was a shoe in, so obviously he took the victory.
You were happy for him, passing along a “good job!” as he retrieved the big brown teddy bear that was half his size, and all of yours. It was missing an eye, thin stands of makeshift fur pulled out and a silky red bow around it’s neck.
“Here” he said, dangling it in front of you.
“For me?” You asked, “but you won”, trying to look up at him but the bear blocked most of your view, only letting you see above his nose.
“Just take it” he practically pushed it into you, making you blow out an oof.
Holding it to the side at the torso with one hand you broke out in a grin “thank you for the plushie” you said, hugging him from the side and squeezing his torso “but I want you to be my teddy” you laughed. He looked incredibly flustered, frozen as you broke away.
“You’re big and tall” you tippy toed up to give his shoulder pad feathers a ruffle “and fluffy”
The man looked like he was about to faint so you decided to knock it off, laughing and telling him you wanted to go on the carousel next. Quickly, LJ happily led you too it, skipping in front of you (mostly to hide his blush).
Standing at the controls to cue a round, watching you walk around to find a pretty horse. Given, all of them had dark spots and chipped paint, but they worked all the same. Leaving the bear on another horse and climbing onto a white one that had a yellow saddle, intricate lacy designs patterned on the sides. Royal blue reigns across it’s chest and a lion on a crest.
It was beautiful, and you traced your fingers on the drawing. It must have been stunning, but the weathering of time and agony had gotten to it. A painful reminder of what was, a mere reflection of the chipping away of a joyful being.
Prying away from your thoughts as you felt the vibrations of Jack stepping onto the walkway- with one of his big smiles. Even after everything, he still wore a smile. It made you want to tear up, he really needed all the love he could get.
He was too tall to get on a horse, so he just stood by you. His big hand gracing the golden pole and holding on, watching as you peeked up at him. Even though his eyes were constantly bright he displayed something…deeper. It was a sort of shine, a sparkle if you will, luminosity glazed over in such a way that one can only get lost in its vastness.
The looped music in the background was secondary as you rose up and down with the horse, giving Jack a little smile and thanking him for bringing you here. “I’m having a lot of fun with you” you noted.
“Well of course you are! It’s a carnival” he said with joy.
“No I mean with you” you clarified “you’re pretty great Jack”. This time he didn’t avoid your gaze, his mouth open slightly, not knowing how to react to the sincerity of the compliment.
The ride slowly came to a stop, and you were feeling slightly tingly. Maybe it was the air, or the loss of focus. “How about a roller coaster?” You dared, to which he gave a tense face.
“Those are pretty broken, you’ll probably die riding one and that’s not what we want” he said, stepping off the carousel. “How about some cotton candy instead?”
You nodded your head vigorously, following him in the pursuit for the fairy floss, the bear falling behind forgotten. Passing by more unused rides that had long past rusted and a house of mirrors to get to the food court.
Jack humming happily as he dipped a paper cone into the bowl of revolving fibers of sugar. Whipping up a swirly pink and blue cotton candy and handing it to you with a proud smile.
He went to make another treat until you spoke, “I’m not that hungry so we can share” you proposed. “If you want”
“Are you sure?” He asked, concerned that you didn’t have much appetite. “Do you want some candy or maybe a funnel cake?”
You shook him off, taking a bite out of the cloud-like dessert. It was absolutely delicious, honeyed and saccharine on your tongue in a blend of flavor you had never tasted had before.
Soft as it disintegrated onto your mouth, leaving behind a remanence of something too sweet. Bringing it up to Jack, who was so tall you had to extend your arm fully to get it to his mouth.
He simply laughed at your struggle, taking a bite before giving you a thin smile and taking it from your hand. Sitting down at a bench so that you could both share comfortably.
By the time the candy had finished you noticed little bits of the silky texture stuck on his nose. Painfully stifling a laugh you turned away.
“What’s so funny?” He asked with a genuine smile.
When you didn’t answer his tone changed, “what’s so funny huh?” he sounded a bit angered.
Hiccuping through your laughter you faced him, leaning in real close to his face, enough so that you could feel the heat emanating from it; taking a bite of the pink woven candy on his nose and holding it in your teeth.
His face went red at the sight, embarrassed that he had cotton candy on his nose. Well, that and for a moment he thought you were going to kiss him.
Noticing your hands were all sticky you asked him if there was a sink somewhere. After both of you washed your hands you sat back down at the bench.
The sky was going dark, the poofs of dusty cloud fading in with the night but still managing to remain visible. You heard a whirr as Jack turned on all the rides at the carnival, lighting the whole thing up.
You sat in awe, a mere spectator in the empty yet live amusement park. Admiring the music that added to the ambiance, watching Jack approach you.
“Wanna take a walk?” He asked, but there was something…off. LJ seemed nervous as you got up and walked next to him.
He had been thinking about it for a while now, probably even before he brought you to the carnival. Even though he had washed the gooey candy from his hands they were still sticky, but it was from sweat. Giving you side glances as you paced the trail with him.
Debating to himself whether or not he should do it, if you would hate him for it. Telling himself that he would regret it if he didn’t, but thinking about the potential negative reactions you could give.
Passing the carousel once again as you noticed the usually loud and happy clown was silent, lost in thought as he stared into the distance, his lips forming a tensing line.
Wondering if he was ok, but brining up the topic might make him uneasy. Perhaps you being there at his haunted amusement park was ticking him off, or if you taking that cotton floss off his nose was too much, or if you were pushing your luck, or worse what if you triggered hi-
All thoughts faded from your mind the moment you felt a slow, shaky hand grasp onto yours. You had to look to where he held you because he was so gentile you thought it was the wind. Holding onto you softly enough that it felt like a feather, somehow still creating a little pocket of warmth between you.
A glowing thump of heat pulsing inside your chest, happiness digging into your cells and giving you the confidence to squeeze his hand.
He let out a sharp inhale at the feel, still avoiding your gaze as he relaxed into your touch. Not daring to move his hand too much or he might risk ruining the moment, afraid of hurting you with his claws.
Approaching the Ferris wheel he finally spoke, “this is probably the one ride that won’t break”, not a peep about holding you. “Do you want to go on?”
You finally caught his gaze, absolutely melting at the smile in his eyes. Responding with a ‘yes’ and letting him open the door for you. Sustaining his grip with you as he helped you on, not letting go even after you sat.
The cart wasn’t exactly small, but with a guy the size of Jack it was pretty compacted. It’s not like you minded, the lack of space gave you an excuse to bunch up alongside him. The feathers from his pads tickling your face as you rested on him.
Watching the view as the cart took you higher and higher, it was perfect. The evening set in the rich obscurity of the night, lights of the festival blinking as if they had a life of their own. The bulbs on the stands making z’s as they illuminated the red and white drapes of the far off tents.
Jack held your hand with such care and caress, you gave him a reassuring press to let him know it was ok. He was so enveloped with the passionate act that he squeezed as well. Letting you feel all the dips and curves of his hand. Clutching onto you, as if you might disappear too.
Facing him to cup his cheek with your free hand, caressing him and tucking a stand of hair behind his ear. Trailing your thumb across his skin and feeling him lean into your touch, swearing that between the lines on the pad of your finger there was a tear that you had wiped away.
Getting lost in the breaths you shared as you inched closer to his lips, giving him a second of warmth longer to prove that you weren’t going anywhere.

Cotton Candy
Pairing: Lotor x gn!reader
Genre: Fluff
Warnings: Saying "Shit" twice
Word count: 2,076 (yay) (also, I edited this, I still need to update the word count)
Author’s Note: I'm crap at writing dialogues, and this is my first time writing for a gay couple. I'm so sorry if it seems forced or unnatural or shitty. Don't be afraid to call me out.
Story Moodboard!
Tumblr media
It’s with a grunt of effort that I manage to lift the carton containing the cotton-candy-maker.
‘Here, dad,’ I say as my dad takes the box from my hands. ‘That’s all?’
‘Yep, that’s all of it. We’ll conquer this carnival with our delicious cotton candy,’ I nod, doing jazz hands while saying the last part. Dad chuckles. I grin.
‘Hey, Honey!’ I turn back, squinting to spot where my other dad is in the crowd of bustling people. Where, where…? Yep, there he is – in his embarrassingly brilliant sunshine yellow and bottle green striped shirt and hot pink trousers, a sharp contrast to his natural bright red hair. Don’t say that it can’t look that bright; you’ll never know just how blindingly bright bottle green can really be until you see the shirt my dad’s wearing. And trust me, he usually dresses in simpler tones; such bland tones that you’d be surprised to know he was capable of wearing colourful hues as well. It’s only that he’s very passionate about his job, and so whenever we set up a booth in fetes such as the current one, he never misses to match the shop logo.
‘Hul-lo, father dearest, how seems to go your day?’
‘Oh, quite lovely, if I do say so.’
‘Well, that’s simply charming –’
‘Alright, enough,’ my other, not redhead dad snaps with an exasperated sort of smile on his visage. You see, my not redhead, a.k.a. brown-haired dad happens to be British. And that means that me and dad would rather paint our teeth blue than to not tease him. ‘You both need to shut it and start helping me with the decorations, now. You know I’m trash at all that.’
‘Aw, now don’t get discouraged,’ I say, patting dad on the back. ‘After all, not everyone can be as blessed as me, can they?’
‘Hey, why don’t you go look around for a bit? You’ve been helping out since before I have.’
‘Yeah, he’s right, pet. You should.’
I huff, rubbing my palms on the fabric of my jeans. ‘You guys sure? I’m not tired, if that’s what you’re worried about.’
‘We’re not worried, we’re just saying you should also get a look, you know? There’s a lot of surprising booths this time around. I mean, there are aliens participating too, so…’
‘Hmm,’ I play with my bottom lip a little, then, ‘yeah, okay. I’ll be back in like, an hour? Forty five minutes? Sound okay?’
‘Sounds great.’
‘Bye, then.’ And with that, I turn on the heels of my Converse, wandering about the pretty stalls and eager children and kissy couples and aliens with curious features.
It really feels bizarre, just how astonishingly fast mankind has accepted the existence of aliens. It seems simultaneously ages and just a day before when conspiracy theorists raged all around the world, presenting baseless theories and concepts as to why and how the three-man squad on the Kerberos mission disappeared. Then came the Galra, bringing along with them global terror – because alien life, intelligent alien life existed and humanity remained oblivious all these millennia, and now they were actually attacking us. It could’ve been, perhaps even was, in some other dimension, the end of Earth. But then a defender appeared; Voltron appeared in all its glory, bringing along with it proof that however much these purple aliens claim that humans are scum of the universe, humans were, in the grand scheme of things, the ones that saved the universe too.
It feels even more puzzling to actually be on a first-name basis with the leader of Voltron; that’s right, I’m personally acquainted with Keith Kogane. It was around six months after him leaving the Garrison did I come across him. He’d been loitering around the neighbourhood, had ended up in a fistfight with some other kids, and along with that a split lip and bruised cheek. I’d been watching. When the fight ended, I (somehow) persuaded him to come along so that I could at the very least provide him with a band-aid.
Long story short, we’d bonded over how our moms were no-shows and how dads were the best and we became surprisingly close friends; the only difference was that after the death of his old man, he lived alone. I’d been adopted by my two current fathers. I told him about how when they’d initially adopted me, I was excruciatingly shy. I wouldn’t even come out of my room except meals. It was only when I came to know that they knew how to make candy floss had I timidly approached them if I could have some, because previously I’d always been grossed out at the thought of having to eat that. I’d overheard this group of kids saying that cotton candy was actually just dyed granny hair, so that’s where that came from.
I love cotton candy now. So much so, that even at the age of twenty-six, I will pout if someone takes some of mine without my permission. As if I’d ever allow them to.
Speaking of Keith, I haven’t seen him in years. We lost all contact when he turned eighteen, and then he went off into space, and even when he came back, I didn’t get a chance to meet him. I bear no ill will, though. He must have formed some close relationships. Our past friendship is comparatively much more trivial.
I spot a booth selling grilled corn. I instantly head there.
As I’m about join the crowd of humans and aliens who also want corn, a familiar call of my name leads me to pull a three sixty.
Lo and behold. Keith Kogane.
Despite him having obviously grown a lot, the face was still the same. I’m sure that, if he gets a split lip and bruise on his cheek right now, he won’t look all that different.
There’s a questioning hesitance on his features; he’s probably wondering if he’s got the right person. My pleasantly surprised smile and raised eyebrows assure him. As I step away from the grilled corn stall, I notice a motley crowd behind him; some are purple, some are holding Voltron plushies, and some look way too curious to be in a carnival. The introduction is going to be fun.
‘Keith! You're gonna live a hundred years - I was just thinking about you. But anyways, it’s – it’s great to see you,’ I say with a little giggle. ‘Though I am kind of surprised you actually approached me. The sixteen-year-old you would never.’
He smiles awkwardly in return. ‘Y – yeah… I, just… oh God, this is – I’m sorry,’ he says, his inner turmoil evident.
‘It’s all good. I know you’re shit at small talk, so… like, introduce me? Maybe?’
He nods rapidly, brows furrowed. ‘Yeah, um,’ he turns to the people behind him, telling them my name, how we met, the whole affair. I give them a wave. Most of them greet me back.
‘And, this is Shiro and Curtis,’ he points to the tall, white-haired yet young man, holding hands with a tanner guy, ‘Lance, Pidge and Hunk,’ he points to a lanky, bright-smiled guy, a buffer, kind-seeming person, and a short chestnut-haired woman who, despite wearing baggy jeans and a baggier tee, looks somehow better dressed than me. ‘Then that’s Allura, Coran, and Romelle, they’re Alteans,’ a woman with enchanting beauty and a regal aura surrounding her, a redhead who’s significantly older than the rest with an impressive moustache, and a youthful appearing girl with a big grin, ‘and Lotor, he’s Galran. The Galran Emperor, in fact.’ Lotor is a tall, lilac-skinned man with aristocratic features who shares the same cheek markings as the Alteans. Oh, and he’s unfairly gorgeous, his hair a luscious mane of white which I just know will be soft. It’s hard not to stare. You remember how I said Allura looked like royalty? Yeah, the way this man carries himself, he has the aura and visage of a God. Even in a white tee-shirt and jeans he looks way better than should be legal.
I rip my eyes away.
‘So…are Noah and Oliver here too? I’d love to see them. I mean, I never did get to thank them to permit a possible criminal to sleep in their house.’
I laugh. ‘Never mind that, but we actually sit up a stall here. I could, you know, maybe even get you guys something to eat.’
‘Free? Please don’t.’
‘It’s nothing, really, just… I don’t know, accept it as a small thank you present for not letting the planet go to shit.’
A bit of thinking. Even after a nod from Shiro, it was Lance who said yes. Good ol’ Keith.
When we reach the stall, my British dad is the only one we find there. He looks up, about to say something to me, when he notices Keith.
‘Dad. You remember Keith?’
‘Your possible criminal friend who turned out to be the saviour of the universe Keith?’
‘That Keith. He wanted to see you.’
‘Oh? Well then,’ he dusts his hands, stands up, and greets Keith. Both of them engage in a conversation.
‘You guys wanna try something?’
‘What do you got?’ asks Pidge.
‘What do we got? Um, we got chocolates, candy, marshmallows, jellybeans, tortilla chips, ice cream, popcorn – butter, cheese, caramel, peri peri – Lays, like, a lot of Lays, and the good old cotton candy. What d’you want?’
So, after providing the humans with two Cream n’ Onion Lays, a pack of tortilla chips, a double scoop of butterscotch and chocolate, a small tub of popcorn, and three cotton candy sticks, I turned to the aliens.
‘I’m assuming you guys aren’t familiar with a lot of this stuff, so you could either pick whatever looks to be good, ask your friends, or I could recommend something. What’ll it be?’
Romelle was the one who asked, ‘What’s ice cream like?’
‘It’s sweet. It’s cold. And it’s like… heaven in mouth.’
‘Ooh. I want an ice cream. The… pink one?’
‘That’s strawberry. You can eat it in a cone, or in a cup.
‘What’s the difference?’
‘Well, the cup you can’t eat. The cone is like a crispy biscuit,’ judging by her face, she didn’t know what biscuit was. ‘I’ll just give you a cone. It’s all on the house, so no worries if you don’t like it.’
I watched eagerly as she licked the ice cream. An unreadable look crossed her face. Then – ‘This is almost as good as Hunk’s cookies!’
‘Really?’ Coran asked, twirling his moustache. ‘Well, then…’ he squinted to read the names of the various flavours. ‘I would like “cookies and cream”. Yes.’ A cone of cookies n’ cream was served.
‘Allura?’
‘Do you have something that isn’t sweet?’ That was a plot twist. I’d have taken her as someone who appreciated sweeter foods.
‘We do. You want spicy?’
‘…Sure.’ Peri Peri popcorn was given and enjoyed.
And last… ‘Lotor. What would you like to have?’
It takes me a lot of will to not laugh at Lotor’s way too analytical expression. ‘What would you recommend?’
‘Me?’
‘Yes.’
‘Out of all this stuff, candy floss is my favourite.’
‘Candy floss… the item that looks simultaneously like a cloud and an old woman’s hair?’
‘Yeah.’
‘I would like a helping of candy floss, then.’
As I hand Lotor a stick of cotton candy, I wait with anticipation for his reaction.
‘How am I supposed to eat this?’
It takes me a moment to process that. ‘Uh, you just… pinch a little of the stuff in between your fingers, then eat it. Or you could just, um, go in directly, which I’m thinking isn’t really your style.’
He narrows his eyes, but follows my instructions nonetheless. Only a second after putting the stuff in his mouth, Lotor purrs.
Everyone around him, being me, Coran and Romelle (Allura’s off telling Lance how great Earth food is), looks with wide eyes and raised eyebrows. Lotor appears as if he’s just died inside. The berry-shaded blush on his face is adorable, though.
'I didn't, like, poison you or something, right?'
'No. It's that... I would never in my lifetimes have expected something so tooth-rottingly sweet to be this delicious.'
'So you're okay?'
‘Yes. In fact, I quite like… this cotton candy.’
I grin.

Headcanon: A week without you
You plan to set out on a week-long trip with Anna, Kiki and Willow.
How do the guys react to the news and cope during your absence?
Tumblr media
🌹VICTOR🌹
Before you leave
As the day of your long-awaited trip approaches, you can barely rein in your excitement
Meanwhile, Victor gets more and more grumpy
“Are you sure you should be going on a trip at this time?”
“Wouldn’t your company end up in shambles with half the staff gone?”
“Goldman informed me that your ticket is refundable.”
Despite his attempts to stop you from leaving his side for the trip, he also sees how much you’ve been looking forward to it
So he eventually relents, and even offers suggestions to include in your list of itinerary
Victor isn’t the type to show affection in public, so you’re surprised when he suddenly wraps his fingers around your wrist at the airport
He lifts it up gently, strapping a wine-coloured watch onto your wrist
It has an incredibly cute design - the face of the watch features an adorable white bunny, with its tiny paws pointing towards the time
“Whenever you look at it, you’ll know that I’m waiting for you to come home.”
(Meanwhile, Anna, Kiki and Willow are standing at the side and screaming internally)
During the trip
He understands how rare it is for you to have a proper break, so he doesn’t disturb you unnecessarily
In fact, you are the one who disturbs him at 3am when his phone gets flooded with photographs of your trip, each one accompanied with a notification chime
Luckily for you, he doesn’t mind it too much
He sighs while scrolling through the photos with a look of affection
“That dummy forgot about the time zone differences.”
Once you’re back
Brings you to Souvenir and whips up a FEAST
Ends the magnificent meal with a dessert you’ve never seen before
“I created it in the week you were gone. Let me know what you think.”
It’s a petite, cube-shaped cake layered with Chantilly cream and drizzled with chocolate, a rose petal resting on top of it
You bring the dessert fork to your mouth
It tastes sweet, but there’s also slight tinge of bitterness that gives it a certain mellow flavour
“I’ll give it an A+, as expected of the finest chef in Loveland City. Is this going to be a new item on Souvenir’s menu?”
“Yes.”
“What is it called?”
He pauses before answering.
“The Taste of Longing.”
You suddenly feel a little shy, and try to change the topic. You hand him the fork.
“H-have you tried it?”
He lets out a sigh, sets the fork aside, and pulls you into a deep, intoxicating kiss
After he draws back, he stares at your flustered expression and responds with the smug grin you missed so dearly over the past week
“I just did.”
Tumblr media
🌻KIRO🌻
Before you leave
The day before the trip, he literally refuses to let you go
Especially after he realises he wouldn’t get to see you off at the airport in person due to a scheduled interview
So he has been latching onto your arm and following you everywhere
“I need to use the bathroom Kiro.”
“I’ll keep my eyes closed, I promise!”
As the dusk settles in and the hours left together dwindles, Kiro grows quieter
His head is resting on your lap as he stares at you intently, as though engraving your face into his memory
You try to cheer him up, tousling his golden blonde hair
“On the bright side, you’ll have the bed all to yourself!”
Kiro brightens up for split second before his expression returns to a pout
“It’s not fun when you’re not in it...”
During the trip
Tries to cope by stuffing himself with tidbits and ice-cream
Savin does not approve.
But snacks don’t taste as good when he doesn’t have you to share them with (or snatch them from)
Tries to cope by playing games past midnight
Savin does not approve.
But games aren’t as fun when he doesn’t hear your voice congratulating him for achieving a new high score
Tries to cope by drowning himself in work
Savin approves... but senses that something is off with Kiro
Savin spends more time with Kiro this week, even bringing him to his favourite hotpot place and treating him to extra desserts
Once you’re back
You decide to surprise Kiro in the studio after receiving a bunch of texts from a worried Savin
Kiro almost bursts into tears
He might not have Gavin’s Evol, but that doesn’t stop him from flying across the room to wrap you in a bear hug, almost tripping over his violin case in the process
After dinner, you’re both on the couch as he listens to you ramble on and on about how fun the trip was
Kiro interrupts you with a long, impatient kiss
After he pulls away, the both of you a little breathless, the cheeky glint in his eyes doesn’t go unnoticed
“You want fun? I’ll show you just how much fun we can have together.”
Tumblr media
🎐GAVIN🎐
Before you leave
Even though you’re used to spending long periods of time apart given the nature of his work, it never gets easier
“Maybe I could come along as a bodyguard?”
As tempted as you are at the prospect, you turn him down gently
It’s meant to be an all-girls trip after all
At the airport, Gavin goes into full-blown maternal mode:
“Remember to check the weather forecast every morning.”
“Yes Officer Gavin.”
“Remember to apply sunscreen before going outdoors.”
“Yes Officer Gavin.”
“Remember to sleep early.”
“Yes Officer Gavin.”
He sighs and encases you in a long hug, pressing a kiss to the top of your head.
“And remember... to think of me often.”
You almost tear up in response to the sheer sadness in his voice
“That’s not something I need to remember. It happens naturally.”
During the trip
He’s not used to returning to a quiet, lifeless house
Sends you little updates about his day
[Text from Gavin:] Saw the stars on my way home tonight. Even though you’re halfway across the world, I feel as though I can sense you, just like how we can still see the faraway stars.
[Text from Gavin:] I saw a squirrel today. It’s cute. It reminded me of you.
[Text from Gavin:] Hung out with Minor today. He told me how lonely he feels in the office these days without you girls around. Seems like we finally found something in common. I miss you.
Purchases a succulent and places it beside Thorny because he doesn’t want it to feel lonely
He names it Mrs Thorny
Once you’re back
Arrives at the airport at least an hour early to wait for you
Sends Anna, Kiki and Willow home by car as a gesture of gratitude for taking care of you over the past week
“He’s a keeper,” whispers Anna.
Helps you unpack while you take a bath
Chances upon the overtly sensual lingerie you bought during the trip (thanks to Kiki’s persuasive skills)
You happen to step out of the bathroom at this very moment, watching as Gavin lifts the dark blue lace from the luggage
The blood drains from your face as you scramble to snatch it out of his hands
“Ahh! That’s meant for your birthday!”
Poor Birdcop is still reeling from shock
So he responds with whatever comes to mind
“For me? But I don’t wear lingerie.”
The both of you just stare at each other, processing this whole situation
It’s not long before every corner of the house gets filled with your laughters mingling together
Both your faces flushed from a mixture of embarrassment and laughter, you collapse into his embrace, soaking up his warmth...
...and you’re finally home.
Tumblr media
⚡️SHAW⚡️
Before you leave
You kind of expected Shaw’s response when you told him about your plans...
“Sure, have fun.”
“You aren’t even going to pretend that you’d miss me?”
“Nah, it’s not like you’d be gone for a decade. Pretty sure I’ll survive.”
He does skip his morning class to send you off at the airport though
His heart suddenly feels the slightest bit heavier once you disappear from view with the girls in the departure hall
Shrugs it off and heads back to school
During the trip
While Shaw isn’t the clingy sort, he does get bored easily
Especially since his partner in crime isn’t around
Sends you pictures of the shark plushie in different poses
e.g. sitting upright on the dining chair
[Text from Shaw:] Sharkie says he misses you. Gave him a talk on how to be a big, independent boy.
e.g. leaning against a spray paint can
[Text from Shaw:] Sharkie tried spray-painting today but got a little bit of paint on himself. Do you know if he’s machine washable?
e.g. wearing one your hairbands
[Text from Shaw:] Sharkie rummaged through your wardrobe today. Doesn’t he look handsome?
Changes his phone’s lockscreen to a different picture of you every day
Of course, he selects photos that should never see the light of day - a picture of your mouth wide open in an unladylike manner as you prepare to bite into a hamburger, a picture of you almost falling off a skateboard, a picture of you sleeping with drool trailing from the corner of your mouth onto the sheets...
You really need to do a thorough cleansing of his photo gallery.
Since his usual source of entertainment is enjoying herself without him halfway across the globe, this is as close as he gets to having fun
Once you’re back
The moment you set down your luggage at home, he drags you to Live House
The intense strobe lights shroud the way Shaw gazes at you with a rare tenderness
Immersed in the loud music, you have no idea that clouds have gathered outside, followed by the gentle patter of rain
You almost miss Shaw’s words as his lips brush against your ear
“I missed you.”
Tumblr media
🦋LUCIEN🦋 (I’m not kidding when I say I can’t write Lucien. For all of our sakes, this shall be the first and last time 😂)
Before you leave
Takes you to see the fireflies
Catches one and names it “Angst”
During your trip
Exists sadly
Attempts to make conversation with Angst
When you’re back
Exists happily
Sets Angst free since his favourite butterfly has returned to his side

Inside Out and Upside Down || Qian Kun
Tumblr media
Genre: fluffy fluffy fluff fluff
Pairing: idol boyfriend!kun x fem reader
Warning/s: would you count a bad day as a warning?
Word Count: 0.9k
Synopsis: You were never one to properly express your emotions through words and an octopus plush seemed to do the talking for you. But the last thing Kun wanted to see when he got home was a frowning octopus and a upset girlfriend
A/N: Another request from my luv, @peachy-beomie aka EMMA! I had very little knowledge of these plushies going into this but I think it’s such a clever idea. Thank you for requesting luv!
Tumblr media
Work. Everyone had to do it at some point in their lives. It was unavoidable, if you wanted a stable source of income that is. So, just like you do every other morning, four out of the five weekdays, you got up at 5am, busied yourself with making breakfast, getting dressed and ready and making sure to take enough time to make your boyfriend, Kun, his lunch. And by 6:30, you were out the door.
However, today had not gone your way. At all.
The coffee machine broke during your busiest hour, the eggs in the fridge had gone past their expiration date without any of the other employees noticing, which mean you had the delight of taking them out, through the kitchen and out the back to the dumpster, found two teenagers doing less than appropriate things behind that dumpsters, you had dealt with four rude customers in a row and at this point, you were ready to curl up in a ball and cry until your tears made a big enough river to drift your sad self all the way back home.
You pushed through ‘like a trooper’ your boss, Denise, put it and you almost sighed with relief when you clocked out. Waving goodbye to your coworkers, you left the coffee shop and dragging yourself into the car to drag yourself home.
Tumblr media
You reached home and unlocked the front door and groaned as soon as you stepped through the threshold. The warm homely feeling wrapped your body comfortable, but it didn’t do anything to help your current headspace. You entered the bedroom you shared with Kun, scurrying around the room, snatching up a pair of your sweats and your favourite shirt of Kun’s, a light blue colour that reached your mid-thigh.
You changed quickly and flopped onto your bed, releasing an exasperated sigh before your eye caught something. The tiny soft plush of a octopus.
Kun had gifted it to you for your birthday. He knew you weren’t very good at expressing your emotions through words. There were times where he’d come home to you crying into your pillow or sulking on your bed, but no matter what he tried to try and coax you into telling him what was wrong, you always just ended up communicating through grunts. It was a better way to communicate anyway, only having to signify your emotions by flipping the octopus’ soft insides to face you with a tiny frown on its blanket soft face.
You huffed and grabbed the plush toy, flipping the pretty royal purple colour into a red colour, the stitched on frowny face staring back at you. You continued to stare at it before hugging it to your chest and letting your emotions crash over you.
Tumblr media
The sound of keys jingling together on a keyring caught your attention. You glanced at your appearance, puffy eyes, red cheeks, hair sticking in every possible direction. You looked like an emotional train wreck. Well, at least you were expressing your feelings.
Kun, your wonderfully talented boyfriend, waltzed into the house and shimmied his way to the bedroom.
“Baby~” He called out as he opened the door, eyes connecting to the emotional wreck of you, his face contorting into concern. “Hey hey hey, what’s wrong?” He rushed to your side, leaning down and grabbing your hand, his thumb rubbing over the back of your hand. You shook his head at him before you buried your face into the covers and began to sob uncontrollably.
If there was one thing Qian Kun hated, it was seeing you cry.
Kun sat on the bed, gathering you up in his arms and squeezed you tightly, rocking his body back and forth, like a mother soothing her upset child. He noticed the octopus plush in your arms and saw the colour. Red. She’s upset.
“Oh my darling princess.” He cooed as he embraced you tightly once more. He released you from his bear hug and sighed. You had stopped crying but you were shaking and looked like a mess. A very adorable one in his own humble opinion, but that was beside the point.
“Work didn’t go well. Hell, today didn’t go well. I’ve just had the worst day. I’m surprised I didn’t stub my toe on the way through the door.” You admit that you were being a little over dramatic but with your emotions mixed together like some strange cocktail, it makes more sense than it would if they weren’t.
Kun heard you sniff, absorbing everything you just told him and kissed your temple. “I’m sorry today didn’t go your way, my love. Anything I can do to make my princess feel better?” He asked you, pulling you away from his shoulder and looking you with his sparkly brown eyes. You pondered on his words for a moment, nodding your head in return.
“Yes. There is.”

“When I asked you if there was anything I could to help you feel better, this wasn’t exactly what I pictured.” Kun said as you tied his hair into tiny ponytails, his eyeshadow done meticulously and his eyeliner miraculously even. You only giggled as you applied a light layer of blush to his cheeks, occasionally slapping his arm to stop him from moving away from the brush (he claimed it was tickling him)
“You said I could do whatever I wanted, and this is what I want.” You playfully huffed, turning his face closer to the light so you could see your artistry in a better view.
Kun smiles. “As long as you’re happy, I really don’t care.”

Trinket
hey friends!! been a while, I know... but hey, here’s some modern AU perc’ahlia! inspired by the prompt ‘carnival’ and kind of sad but also kind of happy (my favourite)
Pairing: perc’ahlia Words: 4580 Rated: T Link: ao3
a modern au about winning bears at carnivals
The first time Vex’ahlia saw Trinket, she let out a delighted chuckle.
Gilmore was showing them all of the prizes the kids could win at his shooting game at the annual Emon carnival. He’d pulled it all together at record speed. Apparently, his diner was going through just a tiny bit of a dip in visits, so he wanted to lure in some more families with younger kids by participating in the carnival and plastering his logo on everything he sold. He told Vex and Vax about it a couple of weeks ago and flirted with both of them until they gave in and promised that they’d help out. Vax would help out at the waffle stand and Vex was going to run the shooting game stand a few lanes over.
The game was fairly simple: customers had to hit a couple of unicorn-themed targets with a small plastic gun that shot tiny squishy balls. If they couldn’t hit any, they got a consolation prize, a discount for a waffle at Gilmore’s other stand. But if they did manage to get some hits in, there was a variety of small, cute prizes for them to pick from. And the biggest prize was a huge bear plushie.
Vex’s eyes shone brightly as she looked the bear over. When her brother saw what she was looking at, he snorted. Then he reached out and took her hand. He got it, of course.
When they were six, their mother took them to a carnival. The big prize for one of the games was a huge bear plushie just like this one. Weirdly realistic, kind of menacing, absolutely perfect for her. She’d spent a stupid amount of time trying to win it, but money was tight, and when she noticed her mom’s guilty expression every time she opened her wallet, she let it go. It didn’t stop her from walking by the stall a couple of more times, just to see the bear. She made up a story where she’d rescue him from his carnival prison and he would be her best friend. Together, they’d go an adventure. Vax too, of course. He was part of all of her adventures.
Quietly giving up on that bear was a turning point in her life. It was the moment she realised that her mom needed her help. Her mom needed her to be strong and happy with the tiniest things. Her mom needed her to stop wanting things.
Vex’ahlia never stopped wanting things.
She hadn’t thought of that bear in years. Her life had a bunch of other turning points that kind of took the spotlight away from it. Losing their mother to cancer. Moving in with their horrible father. Finally leaving his house the second she and Vax turned eighteen.
That last one got their lives onto a better track, though. Things got better after they left the Vessar family behind. It was rough at first, of course, trying to make a living, but they’d saved up money while they still lived with their father for that exact purpose, so things never got out of hand. They took any jobs they could for a while, and then they went into the food business. They opened their bakery when they were twenty-four. Thanks to Vax’s creativity and Vex’s eye for business, it took off after a year.
It was a little poetic that the bear came back into her life after all that.
She walked up to it and patted one of its arms, greeting it like an old friend. Gilmore had no idea what was happening and his head was too full to ask, so he just told her to get acquainted with the place before the opening the day after and dragged Vax off to see to the waffle stand.
Vex watched them go with a smile on her face and turned back to the bear. “It’s you and me again, buddy,” she told it. She grabbed its paw and shook it. “Nice to finally meet you. This is going to be fun.”
And it was fun.
Their bakery hadn’t made it through the selection process for the food stands at the carnival, but this way she could still show her face to prospective customers. People knew her as Vex from the bakery, so every time she chatted with them and handed out prizes to the children, she knew that she was putting her bakery back into their heads. The bakery was open, of course; their employees were running it during these weeks. Vex knew exactly how to pepper that fact into conversation.
Gilmore’s game was deceptively simple, so most customers left with a nice prize. The discount system worked too: Vax told her that most of the people who won a discount code showed up to get their waffles and spent some extra money on drinks and special toppings. Gilmore’s business was booming. And according to JP, the bakery was seeing customers too, despite the carnival.
The shifts were very long, but Vex didn’t mind. After the carnival she’d be beat for a couple of days, but for now she was thriving. She loved commerce. She loved carnivals. And Vax brought her waffles.
She ran the stand by herself, which kept her very busy during rush hours, but she preferred it that way. She liked having full control over the entire place. It reminded her of the first year at the bakery, when Vax and her were the only people keeping the place together. It was a little weird not to have Vax there, sometimes, considering that comparison, but every time she felt that she could just turn to Trinket.
She named him Trinket because all of the prizes were trinkets, and because he was adorable. Every morning when she came in, she patted him on his arm and told him good morning. A few days into the carnival, everyone knew that Vex had made friends with the giant bear at the shooting stand. She would stand next to it when the children were shooting and pretend to talk to it about how incredible their aim was. She’d frown and nod like she was listening to a response and tell the children that Trinket thought that they were awesome. No one came close to winning him, of course. You needed seriously good aim to get all of the targets, and for the big prize there was a time limit too.
Of course, some people couldn’t resist teasing her about her friendship with the bear. Like the handsome engineer who fixed broken games all day
He caught her eye as early as the second day of the carnival. He was called in to fix the Wack-A-Mole came right opposite to Vex’s stand and Vex absolutely did a double take when he came walking up.
He was wearing the same blue uniform as all the other engineers at the carnival did, but there was something different about him. He held himself as straight as a rod, every movement efficient and sharp. He wore glasses, golden-rimmed, and his shoes might be well-worn, they were clearly very high quality.
Money, she concluded with a surprise. You didn’t usually spot people with money doing jobs like this. He must enjoy it.
There was a lull in business around the time the engineer worked the Wack-A-Mole, so she had all the time in the world to send glances his way and check him out as he worked. He disappeared behind the machine for a while, but eventually he came back out, covered in grime and dirt and slightly sweaty. He wiped his hand over his forehead, still holding a wrench, and then he looked up and stared straight at her.
He looked eerily composed for someone who had just done some very dirty work. Something inside of Vex jumped to attention.
The engineer turned back to the guy running the Wack-A-Mole without saying anything and told him that there shouldn’t be any more problems with the machine. Vex made sure to busy herself at the till as they said their goodbyes, somehow knowing that he wouldn’t just leave. And she was right. Footsteps came up to her stand and halted, and when she looked up with her customer service smile, she found the handsome engineer.
“You must be bored,” he said. His voice was smooth and perfect, like whiskey down her throat. Lovely.
“It is rather quiet at the moment,” she replied, her smile fading into a more sincere one, “But the past half hour has been pretty entertaining.”
He smiled back. “You have a pretty intense stare.”
She leaned against the counter. “Being subtle is overrated, don’t you think?”
“Oh yes,” he said, “It has a time and a place.” He smiled again. “I’m Percy. I’d shake your hand, but…” He wiggled his grimy fingers. “Perhaps some other time.”
“I suppose we could do introductions without the traditional handshake,” Vex teased, “I’m Vex’ahlia.”
“Vex’ahlia,” he repeated, “Nice to meet you. You work with Gilmore?”
“Temporarily. He’s a friend. My brother and I own the bakery on sixth.”
“You didn’t get a spot with the stands?”
She shrugged. “Too many applicants. We’ll try again next year.”
“Shame. You make a mean cinnamon roll.”
Vex laughed. She was very proud of their cinnamon rolls. “You’re a fan, are you? I don’t remember seeing you around. I’m sure I would.”
He patted his head. “Is it the hair?”
He did have a very distinctive shock of white hair. But they’d already established her opinion on subtlety.
“That, and your face.”
He snorted and shot her a look. She just grinned back at him unabashedly.
“My sister usually picks them up,” he said, ignoring her compliment, “We have them for our Sunday brunch.”
Vex smiled. “What a lovely idea. We also have a great brioche every week. It makes for some really delicious French toast. Perfect for a brunch.”
He arched an eyebrow at her. “Are you trying to flirt me into spending more money, Vex’ahlia?”
She laughed and sent him a mischievous look. “I merely want you to have the best brunch experience as possible, Percy. We just happen to offer the best product.”
He looked her over and waved his finger at her. “You’re dangerous,” he concluded.
“Absolutely. But you don’t look like you scare easily.”
He grinned. “I do not.”
“Then I expect I’ll see you around.”
“You’d be wise to.”
“I am so wise.”
He came by every day after that. Usually, he just chatted her up during one of his shifts. His work took him everywhere around the carnival and he passed by her stand often enough to just have a brief moment to flirt with her. He was a good flirter. She was enjoying herself.
The first time he caught her doing her little act with Trinket in front of some kids, he hid his laughter behind a fist. It was busy, so he didn’t say anything at the time, but when he came back later that day he had a twinkle in his eye that told her that he hadn’t forgotten.
“You never introduced us,” he said as he approached.
Vex sighed, catching his meaning, and patted Trinket on his arm. “Do you hear that, buddy? We’ve made Percy question himself.”
“Well, the two of you are clearly very close.” Percy leaned against the counter, cocking his head at her. “A man can’t help but wonder if there’s a reason you didn’t want us to meet.”
She crossed her arms. “Not every guy gets to meet my pet bear.”
“You wound me.”
She laughed. Over the days, Percy had really made an impression on her. There was something about the way he looked at her, something sharp and perceptive, that made her feel seen in a way that she usually didn’t. Plus, he could dish it out as well as he took it. That was rare, in her experience.
She was called away to let some kids play the game and his gaze drifted over to the targets. Sometimes, when he watched someone play it, he started tapping his fingers against his thigh. There was a nervous energy to him when he watched someone shoot.
Vex smiled to herself and told Trinket that the girl was doing incredible. Once the child left with her prize, a plastic unicorn the size of a microwave, she sauntered back over to Percy.
“Just do it,” she said.
He turned his gaze on her. “Do what?”
She nodded to the game. “Give it a try. You clearly want to.”
He laughed.
She absolutely adored his laughter.
“It does seem fun,” he admitted, his eyes still twinkling joyfully.
“Well, go for it.” She winked at him. “Give me your money, Percy.”
“You won’t even give me a discount?”
“Percy, I am a businesswoman.”
He snorted and flexed his fingers, looking back at the targets. “Alright. Sure.” He dug into his pockets and pulled out some coins, depositing them in Vex’s outstretched hand. She put them in the till as he picked up the tiny plastic gun. It looked ridiculous in his large hands; a hilarious sight that she was trying not to laugh at. She didn’t want to break his concentration.
He weighed the thing in his hands for a second and then brought it up. His fingers flexed one more time. Then he pulled the trigger.
He hit the first target easily. “A strong start,” Vex told Trinket appreciatively.
His lips quirked up into a lop-sided smile, but he didn’t look away from the game. He shot again.
Hit.
Again.
Hit.
By this point, Vex was watching him with a bemused grin. He was good. Where did he get that kind of aim?
She checked the prize ratings to see what he was going to get if he kept this up.
He missed the next one and cursed, but Vex felt a rush of relief as she realised he wasn’t going to get a perfect score. She patted Trinket’s arm.
He hit the next three, then missed the last two. All in all, it was the best score anyone had gotten as of yet.
“Impressive,” she said as he put the plastic gun back down. She turned to the prizes to pull down an extensive embroidery set (unicorn-pattern included). “Much experience with fire arms?”
“In a way. I work at the paintball range just out of town.”
“Really?”
This man really loved to get down and dirty, huh?
She held out his prize to him. “That’s pretty cool. Is everyone there as good as you are?”
Percy tentatively took the embroidery set out of her hands, looking at it like it was a lost child he had no idea what to do with. “Not really. But they’re decent enough.”
She laughed at his expression and his blunt confidence. The sound of it drew his gaze back to her, and he sent her that enticing half-smile again.
“Well, I’m certainly impressed,” she told him, trying not to blush. Her heart skipped a beat whenever he smiled at her like that, and it was ridiculously embarrassing, even if he couldn’t tell.
Percy hummed and looked back at the game. “Don’t be impressed yet.”
She arched an eyebrow at him, but he didn’t give her an explanation. Instead, he got back to work, leaving her with a wave of his hand and a row of question marks on her mind, the embroidery set tucked underneath his arm. The question marks disappeared soon enough, because business picked up again after that.
Something in had changed, though. After that, he tried the game every day. He started hitting the fourth target pretty quickly, but the last two still eluded him. They were pretty challenging, and the little plastic gun clearly wasn’t his preferred weapon.
It was Vex’s favourite part of the day. Percy would come by, usually bringing her a drink or a snack or just a snarky comment about someone at the carnival, he’d hand her some cash and then he’d try the game. He didn’t get frustrated when he couldn’t hit everything, but he was never truly content with his work either. He just stared at the last two targets sometimes, cogs in his head clearly whirling, trying to figure out how to make this work. But he never stayed too long – he always got back to work right when he was supposed to. Percy was nothing if not punctual. Plus, he loved his work here. She could tell from the way he talked about it.
Vex was having the time of her life. Not even her brother’s teasing about Percy could dull her sheer joy.
Then one day, Percy hit the eighth target.
Vex couldn’t deny the way her stomach dropped when the squishy little ball hit the target. Percy looked better than he ever did, staring at it with a fire in his eyes that made him seem invincible. But Vex couldn’t focus on it, because she was too busy clutching the huge artificial bear beside her.
Percy brought up the gun again, and part of her wanted to call out for him to stop. Panic hit her like a freight train and she held her breath.
He missed.
Vex breathed out and tried to still her shaking fingers. Percy was frowning at the target, clearly discontent. She laughed to relieve some of her own tension.
“Don’t feel bad, darling,” she said, “The last one is a real killer. I think it was made to be impossible.”
“Nothing is impossible,” Percy said. He eyed the ninth target again, still holding the gun as if he might try again.
“Until when were you on break?” Vex asked quickly, “Five to? Because then you should be getting back to work.”
Percy nodded and put down the gun, turning to smile at her. “You’re right. I’ll see you tomorrow, Vex’ahlia.”
“Looking forward to it.”
She waved at him before he disappeared into the crowd. Then her smile dropped from her face.
She tried to shake off the tension in her neck and shoulders. She was doing customer service, for God’s sake. She had to look welcoming.
She plastered her smile back on and tried to forget.
She thought it worked right up until Percy came back the next day, a smile on his face and his money already in his hand. Immediately, her shoulders tensed up again.
She smiled back at him. “Back to give it another try, then?”
“I’m going to get it one of these days.”
“Oh, well… There’s only five days left. You might have to concede.”
Percy handed her the money, his eyes already on the targets. “Not I, Vex’ahlia. Not I.”
Vex’s heart was in her throat from the moment he picked up the gun to the second he put it back down. He still couldn’t hit the ninth target, but she was getting seriously nervous. He’d managed to go from hitting the first seven to the first eight in What, three days? There were still five days of the carnival left. The ninth target was definitely the hardest to hit, but, contrary to what she said before, it wasn’t impossible. He just needed some seriously good aim and a healthy dose of luck.
She looked at her bear. She felt jittery and uncomfortable, like she’d had too much caffeine.
“Are you alright?” Percy asked, a worried frown between his eyes.
Vex almost jumped. “What? Yes. I’m fine.”
She was being short with him, but for some reason he was annoying her right then.
He didn’t seem to pick up on it. Instead, he just nodded and said his goodbyes before heading back out into the fray.
Vex couldn’t calm down for the rest of the day. She kept glancing at Trinket, standing beside her all big and strong and dependable. She wouldn’t admit to it, but she’d been secretly thinking about taking him home after the carnival was done. She was sure she could give Gilmore a fair price for him. After all, she was now at an age where she could indulge herself. She could have the huge bear plushie if she wanted to. She could take him if no one else did.
After her shift ended that night, she looked up Gilmore. She couldn’t help herself.
“Shaun,” she said, making her voice and smile as warm and inviting as possible.
He arched an eyebrow at her, already suspicious.
Vex dropped the act. She frowned. “Is there a way to make sure that no one wins the main prize?”
“What?”
She was about to repeat her question when he held up a hand to silence her. “That’s illegal,  Vex. We’re not doing that.”
“But is there?” she pushed.
Gilmore sighed and stepped up to her, sending her one of his own signature dazzling grins. “Vex’ahlia. Darling. If you mess with the mechanics of my game, I will snap your neck like a twig.”
Vex repressed an angry pout and turned away from him. “I was just joking,” she snapped. She straightened out her shirt and left him.
The next few days, she had to physically restrain herself from biting her nails while on shift. The jittery energy she’d felt the day Percy hit the eighth target was a constant now. She kept bouncing her leg and rolling a coin between her fingers. She did breathing exercises to keep herself from rushing the customers, but she couldn’t help the turbulent river of nervousness that coursed through her own body. The sight of Percy’s white shock of hair in the crowd was no longer something that she looked forward to. Instead, every day she crossed her fingers that that day he’d be too busy to visit.
He never was, of course. No, he showed up every day, at a different moment, catching her off guard just as business lulled for a moment. First, she’d draw him into conversation, asking him about his work, his family, his hobbies, anything. She flirted excessively, trying to keep his attention fully occupied. But, about five minutes before his break would end, he’d hand her the money and pick up the gun.
She hated him a little bit in those moments. Couldn’t this guy take a fucking hint?
But he still hadn’t hit the ninth target by the time the last day of the carnival arrived. Vex dared to be a little hopeful. The odds were against him, at least, and she’d talked to Gilmore about taking Trinket home after the carnival. As long as they got through this day, her buddy would have a permanent place in her living room. But she hadn’t yet cleared out a spot. She didn’t have that kind of confidence yet.
When Percy came to the shooting stand that day, it felt like the moment that the entirety of these two weeks had led up to. She kind of felt like there should be a crowd for this. Someone should be paying attention, at least. Instead, everyone around them was just having their regular fun. Someone was cackling at the Wack-A-Mole stand. A mother was chastising her child for holding their ice-cream a little loosely. In the distance, they could hear the excited yelling of people on one of the more exciting rides.
Percy smiled at her as he gave her the money for the game. “One more try,” he said conspiratorially.
Vex forced a laugh that sounded hollow to her own ears, clutching the money in her hands.
She refused to hold onto Trinket as Percy picked up the gun. Instead, she crossed her arms, hunching her shoulders a little. She felt small, and she hated it. She hated that she cared about this. She hated that she couldn’t talk about it.
She was six years old again, walking past that carnival game just to steal another glance.
Percy hit the first five targets easily. He moved in a smooth line now, quick as a dancer. He was beautiful.
He took a breath before he hit the sixth. Took a second. Hit the seventh. The eighth.
Vex’ahlia held her breath. Her heart was racing. For some reason, fight or flight was kicking in, and she had the incredible urge to break something. She wanted to punch his pretty face.
Percy angled the gun. He moved his hand a hairbreadth. Settled.
Vex followed the little ball with her eyes as it shot towards the ninth target. She watched it sail right into it with an audible plop.
Bells went off. She was pretty sure a confetti gun covered the entire place in colourful paper. She didn’t care.
Tears rushed into her eyes. She was six years old, and she had to walk past the carnival stand. She had to give up the bear.
She looked up and caught the tail-end of an adorable dorky victory dance that Percy was doing. He had a grin on his face that could light up the night sky.
She turned away quickly, palming at her eyes to get rid of the tears. She took a deep breath.
She was twenty-seven. It was time to give up the bear.
“Congratulations!” she said, turning back to Percy with a smile.
His grin had faded into a content smirk. “I knew I could do it. I just had to get it right.”
“It’s a real feat.”
She tried to keep her voice peppy. Percy was a good guy. She liked Percy. It was just a bear.
He was basking in his own satisfaction. “Can I come pet him?” he asked her, a tease to his voice.
Vex forced a laugh and waved him over to the stand’s entry point. “Of course. He’s all yours.”
Percy entered the stand and stepped up into her space since the first time she met him. He was a little taller than she was, and he smelled like oil and caramel apples. He had her favourite smile on his face, but she couldn’t enjoy it.
She turned her face away and led him to Trinket. “Here he is! The man himself.”
“An honour to finally meet you,” Percy said, patting Trinket’s paw with his hand.
Vex bit her cheek.
“So,” Percy said casually, glancing at her, “What are you going to do with him?”
She blinked slowly. “What?”
“The bear,” Percy said, “Where are you going to put him? He’s pretty big.”
“Where am I going to put him?”
“Well, yes.” Percy turned his body towards her and crossed his arms, smiling down at her. His eyes had a boyish glint to them. “I’m not going to separate a lady from her pet bear. What do you take me for?”
Vex needed another few moments to wrap her head around what he was telling her. “What? You… What, you’re… You’re… Wait, you’re giving me the bear? You won it.”
“I think you’ll give him a better home than I would. Besides, isn’t this customary? Winning a prize for your date?”
“You…” Vex’ahlia let out a laugh. All of the tension she’d accumulated dispersed in one cackling bout of laughter. When she finally wiped the tears from her eyes, Percy was looking at her a little weird, although not at all displeased.
“I didn’t know we were on a date,” she said finally. Her hand reached for Trinket instinctively, and when she touched him, she knew that she could finally take him home.
She was twenty-seven. This bear was hers.

BUILD A BEAR
Tumblr media
“Teddy Bear!” Your daughter pointed, her head and arm peeking from the pillow fort you helped her build in your living room. “Big Teddy Bear!” She pointed at her father.
You chuckled, realizing that Jake has returned from running errands.
“You learned new words? I’m very proud of you, sweetheart!” Jake frowned, confused, as he planted a kiss on your forehead, then your daughter’s. Proud was an understatement. He would brag about how smart your daughter was at the simplest thing. Whether she fed herself without making a mess, drew an absolute chaotic art piece with her crayons or found her way to snuggle up in her parents’ bed despite being told not to, he was so proud. She amazed him.
It amazed him how she looked exactly like the two of you combined. She had his piercing blue eyes, but they had your shape, soft and cheerful. She had a bright smile like him. She had your button nose. She had that little curl in her hair that resembled yours. A bad encounter with the coffee table during a tickling session left her with a tiny scar on her chin, which looked exactly like one of Jake’s shaving accidents when he was young and innocent.
It amazed him how fast time flew by. Not even yesterday, the two of you were hearing her first cry and hugging her for the first time. It amazed him how much love he had to give this bundle of joy, while he believed he could never love someone or something as much as he loved you.
Rose repeated the nickname again and again. Maybe it was her new obsession. Last week, she tasted her very first lemon and kept screaming lemon all the time. Quite the learning experience, she had her father’s vocal chords that was for sure.
Jake shrugged it off and brought the mail to the kitchen table. He did not bother taking off his jacket, he kneeled with the two of you. He opened his legs and arms, hoping Rose would crawl and sit with him, but she just laughed and pointed at his face again. “Bear, Daddy is a bear!”
It finally hit you and you brust into laughter, leaving Jake in his confusion.
Rose pretended that her fingers were scissors and she mimicked the snip snip sound as she ran her little hand around Jake’s beard.
“She thinks you look like a bear.” You, too, brought your hand to Jake’s face and you stroked it lovingly. Rose agreed by nodding her head frantically. “You know, with the beard.”
“That’s not nice! I’m not a bear!” Jake pouted and pretended to be sad, which resulted in your daughter covering his face with kisses.
“No sad Daddy, I love my teddy bear!” She hugged him tight and Jake widened his eyes. He mouthed that she didn’t have a teddy bear and suddenly this looked like the biggest emergency in the world.
He scooped her up like she was as light as a feather, pulling out the cutest giggles out of her tiny body. “Get in, sweetheart, we’re going shopping!”
You told Jake you preferred to stay at home and clean around the house. He insisted he would prefer to have his princesses with him, but you gave him a wink. He was quicker to understand it meant you were clearing their evening schedule for something more entertaining than laundry, baby food making and bento box lunches binge watching.
So Jake got the little toddler ready. He let her pick her hat, her scarf and her mittens while he put on her boots. She usually hated that part, but he had this magic trick of singing a silly tune as he did so. It made her want to sing too, and forget about the heartbreaking moment her feet leave her favourite slippers. She opted for teal mittens, an orange hat with a pink pompom and a purple scarf with stripes. “She’s New York Fashion Week ready!”
You laughed, kissing them good bye.
*~*~*
Jake drove to the nearest mall and carried Rose over his shoulder until they reached the door of the shopping center.
“Where are we going?” She kept asking, from the moment she was in the car to now, when Jake was all scrunched over to hold her tiny hand.
“It’s a surprise, Rosie!”
“I love surprises!”
He made the walk to the Build a Bear store fun. He went to grab a muffin from a food stand and shared it with her, washing her hands so she would not stick them every where. He even stopped by a clothing store, taking notes of the pieces she liked from the front windows so he could get her new outfits. And when they finally made it to the store... She was running and dragging Jake along. He was surprised by her strength, but he really should not be. Ever since she was a baby she was strong like the Hulk, or like her mother. He liked to think she got it from you, his super woman with super strength and super everything.
“You can pick one, okay? And we’ll bring it to life together! Poof!” He added sounds to his explanations, catching her attention.
Rosie was impossible to control. She ran from one corner to the other, apologizing adorably when she bumped into a friendly employee. She would pick up a giraffe, no a cat, no, a dog, no, a dragon... Honestly Jake wanted to buy them all. He was aware the mall was closing soon, and he knew better than to torture these poor employees with an excited child who skipped her nap and would crash at any moment (or well, she would when he would stop giving her M&Ms to buy her concentration).
She finally made up her mind on a light golden bear. It came with a flower on its ear and pink paws. “It’s perfect, just like you!” Jake exclaimed and booped her nose. He let the employees teach Rose how to fill the plushie with stuffing until it was the best cuddle buddy in the world.
“How should we name her?”
“Jake!”
He shook his head, trying not to be insulted by the fact she still associated bears with him.
“No!” She listed possibly fifteen names that made less and less sense and gave the employees a headache.
Rose pulled on Jake’s pants, asking him to come down to her level, which he did. “What is Mommy’s favourite flower?” She asked and he answered.
“Daisy!” They both said in sync. It was a perfect name, because the bear had a daisy on it and Jake and you really had this flower theme going on. You, in fact, hesitated between so many flower names for your kid.
“Let’s show Mom your new friend!”
*~*~*
Jake managed to spend the entire car ride without a cry, a scream or a word of complaint until he accidentally woke Rose up from her nap by picking her up. She was tired and fussy. It was dinner time, but you and Jake decided it was better if she slept a bit more before. Your plans for the evening got bumped to tomorrow, but you could not care any less. Rose and Daisy were the new partners in crime and they were too adorable to resist.
“I have another idea!” Jake announced and set Rose down on the couch, inviting you to do the same. He disappeared in the laundry room, where he threw a soft blanket in the dryer with a dryer sheet. He then ran to the kitchen and prepared a platter of hot chocolate. He made sure that Rose’s was just warm enough and he placed a big marshmallow on it. He set the platter down and left again, only to come back with a warm blanket.
He turned on the television to play Frozen and sat on the couch with Rose in between the two of you. Your bodies were wrapped in a coccoon of warmth. And your heart felt the same. Rose quickly fell asleep, she did not even make it to the pat where Olaf appeared, and it was her favourite moment. She snored lightly, clutching on Daisy.
Your head was resting on Jake’s shoulder and you looked up to him.
If somebody told you a couple of years ago that you would live a life like this, you would have never believed it.
You have a beautiful house to live in. A job you love that allowed you as much family time as you wanted. A significant other that was nothing less than your soulmate. And you had this precious soul sleeping soundly with her mouth covered with hot cocoa.
You took a deep breath and Jake stared back into your eyes. The silence said it all.
You wanted nothing more in life than this: the taste of hot chocolate, your child being so peaceful and happy, Jake’s content face lighting up the evening sky and this never ending smell of fresh laundry. Your family was like a basket of clean laundry. So warm, so satisfying, so comforting.
Jake built Rose a bear.
And Jake, Rose and you built a home.

A Gekkering Mess
Summary: Renata and Minnie go to a toy store where something interesting happens.
Word Count: 2605
Read on AO3:
It was a beautiful day in the town of Richmond. The sky was a bright, clear blue, the white clouds were rolling lazily by and the air had a freshness that made the huldra’s tail curl into a question mark. Renata’s tail twitched this way and that as she felt a cool breeze blow and tickle the opening in her back. Her brown eyes caught sight of a small flock of birds that flew through the sky. Her animal instincts kicked in and she wanted to run after them and see what would happen. But she quickly shook that urge away with a feeling that was much stronger. There was a different bird that she was really excited to see. A tall, cool, redhead harpy that had flown in and stolen her heart. The way Minnie made her feel was exhilarating and made her heart all warm and fuzzy each time she saw her. Renata was practically counting down the seconds it took her to get to the harpy’s house as she ran forward. The fur on her tail blew through the wind as her shoes whacked against the pavement. She couldn’t help but sprint towards her house, ignoring all the strange and horrified looks she got because of her monster features as she made her way down the street.
Once she saw the house in the near distance she skidded to a halt and began to walk casually forward, a little bounce in her steps as her excitement bubbled over. Any second now she’d get to see her girlfriend. The huldra walked to the front door, gave it a friendly knock and waited as patiently as she could for the door to be answered. Her body swayed back and forth as she waited until she noticed that the doorknob was turning. Her eyes grew large as she waited to see Minnie’s warm smile. Instead her head tilted to the side when she saw no one there at first. It only took the huldra a second to get what was happening.
“Hey, Tenn,” Renata’s fangs poked out with her friendly smile as the ghost boy slipped out of the door and formed into his usual fairly transparent appearance.
“Hey, Renata,” Tenn returned the smile with a shy expression and began to fidget with his fingers. “Minnie should be ready any minute now, but you’re welcome to come inside.”
“Thanks!” Renata strolled forward and heard frantic chirping and other sounds coming from the second floor. After a few minutes the soft clicking of talons could be heard coming down the stairs and Renata’s face immediately brightened when she saw it was Minnie.
“Hey, Ren,” Minnie jogged down the last few steps and stopped in front of her girlfriend. “Sorry, I hope I didn’t make you wait too long,” An apologetic twitter left her lips as she looked at the huldra.
“Nope! Not at all.” Renata leaned forward, getting on her tippy toes and placing a soft kiss on Minnie’s cheek. That made the harpy’s face turn a bright red. The huldra smiled proudly at that; she loved whenever she flustered Minnie. Minnie cleared her throat “Ready to go?”
“Yep!” Renata’s smile grew when she felt Minnie’s hand slip into hers, her fingers intertwining with Renata’s as they headed towards the door.
“We’re heading out. Make sure to not let Sophie eat all the chocolate chip bug cookies.” Minnie looked back at her brother who gave a nod in understanding. There had been far too many times that Sophie had gotten overwhelmed by the deliciousness of a snack and eaten all of it in minutes.
With that the couple was off, walking down the sidewalk slowly as they made their way towards the location of their date: A monster-friendly toy store run by a human the different monsters around Richmond swore was one of the most welcoming and friendly in the whole town. Still, on the way there there would still be humans that would give odd looks and whispered comments, but neither of the monsters seemed to mind. Minnie and Renata were happy in each other’s presence, enjoying the casual conversation and knowing it was a short walk to Swellington’s Toy Emporium.
“So have you ever been to the store before?” Minnie looked over at her girlfriend with a soft expression.
“Hmm, nope! But I’m happy to have my first time at the toy store be with you!” Renata’s tail curled around and brushed Minnie’s feathers. Minnie’s feathers puffed up for a second due to the sudden touch but she quickly gave a smile and continued on.
“Me too. I’ve never been but I’ve heard from Brody that they have really high-quality, soft plushies.”
That caused an excited smile to appear on the huldra’s face, her fangs poking out as she moved a bit faster. “Ooo, now I definitely can’t wait to get to the store!” Renata hummed happily as the two continued down the street. After a twenty minute walk they had reached the store. It was bright and colorful with a big sign. A train display was slowly making its way around the front of the store’s window causing a curious tweet to leave Minnie’s lips. The couple moved forward and opened the door. They were immediately greeted by a lady with brown hair pulled back into a ponytail. Fuzzy toy animal ears were on her head and she was showing them off to some kids who seemed in awe of them.
“Welcome to Swellington’s Toy Emporium,” She gave a friendly wave. “My name’s Edith. If you have any questions just let me know.”
“Thanks, we will,” Minnie gave a friendly smile and was surprised for a moment that for the most part everyone in this store seemed fine with them being there. Without having to worry about that fear, the two monsters wandered around the store. Their eyes admired all the different types of toys and exhibits on display. Renata’s tail was constantly curled in the shape of a question mark and her eyes were bright and shiny.
“Ooo! Ooo!” Renata’s soft hand gripped onto Minnie’s tighter as she pulled her forward. “I found the stuffed animal display!” The huldra and harpy stood before a display that towered over them. All types of creatures stood before them. Dragons, chickens, cats, bears, if there was a stuffed animal you wanted it seemed like this store had it.
Minnie’s eyes searched the different options. Excited, happy chirps left her lips as she saw the array of choices before her. Her hands immediately went to a fox plushie. Its orange fur reminded Minnie of Renata’s tail and the happy yet slightly mischievous look in its eyes was spot on. The harpy shook her head; maybe she was just reading too much into the fox plushie. She placed it down and decided to give herself time to consider purchasing it or not when suddenly a throaty sound appeared beside her.
The harpy glanced over and was alarmed to see Renata’s teeth bared and her tail slightly puffed. A high pitched sound emitted from her throat as her eyes were glued to the fox plushie. She began to slowly move towards it and continue the sound, the hole in her back vibrating from the volume of her gekkering until she caught sight of Minnie’s surprised face. Renata felt her tail go limp and she awkwardly scratched the back of her head.
“Oops, guess my animal instinct kicked in and all. Again,” She awkwardly picked up a rabbit plushie that she had chewed on. Her fangs had bits of fluff on them from the innards of the plushie. The poor thing looked rather sad now. “I’m gonna go pay for this and apologize. I’ll be right back,” Renata jogged over and gave Minnie a quick kiss on the check then scampered off towards Edith.
The harpy watched as the huldra apologized again and again. Edith simply waved her hand and put it on Renata’s shoulder which surprised the huldra. She gave some kind words with a soft smile and Renata handed over some money. Minnie turned her attention back onto the fox plushie. She wondered what gave Renata such a strong reaction. Was she jealous of a plushie? If so that was actually kind of cute. The harpy smiled and picked up the fox plushie; now she felt like she had to get it. Sneaking over to the cashier she purchased the plushie, tucking it away safely in the bag given to her. Suddenly she felt arms wrap around her waist. The harpy let out a surprised yet happy twitter and looked back at her girlfriend who gave a warm smile. “Hey, everything go alright?” The harpy’s question made the huldra nod her head.
“Yep! Wanna check out some more plushies? Ooo, or I saw this really cool display over by that corner over there.”
“Let’s check out the display,” Minnie’s words caused the huldra’s eyes to sparkle more which made the harpy’s heart flutter. Minnie leaned forward and placed a gentle kiss on Renata’s cheek. The sudden romantic gesture had Renata’s eyes flickering with surprise before the playfulness returned to them. Her tail brushed against Minnie’s feathers and she grabbed her girlfriend’s hand, guiding her over to the display.
The two continued to explore the wonders of the toy shop, both of them getting overwhelmed by the sheer amount of cool stuff they saw. Minnie ended up buying a Lego set and Renata bought a yo yo that supposedly lit up whenever you spun it. Happy with their purchases, the couple walked out of there hand in hand and back to Minnie’s house. When they had reached the destination and said their goodbyes, Renata snuck in one final kiss, capturing Minnie’s lips and making her feathers bristle in happy alarment. With a playful smile, Renata began to walk backwards. “I’ll see you soon,” The huldra had a happy, casual smile on her face that Minnie matched as she waved goodbye.
“Can’t wait,” The harpy watched her girlfriend for a moment longer then closed the door. Her hand immediately got out the small fox plushie, a giddy twitter slipping from her lips as she ran up the stairs, her talons whacking against the wood until she couldn’t wait any longer and flew the rest of the way. “Come on, Foxy, I got the perfect spot in mind for you.”
------
“So what do you want to do today, Ren? Bug eating contest? Go Fish? Want me to fly you over the neighborhood again?” Sophie leaned forward in her bed, her talons tucked comfily away in her little nest.
Renata sat on the floor and tilted her head to the side. “Hmm, those all sound great… Let’s do them all!” Her fangs poked out with her smile when she saw that her best friend was clearly just as excited.
“Awesome! Let me just grab some stuff and we can start with the fly over the neighborhood.” Sophie fluttered her wings and got out of her nest. The harpy went over to the desk to grab something when suddenly she heard a throaty, high pitched growling sound. Alarmed, Sophie spun around to see her best friend slowly moving towards Minnie’s bed. There, tucked away in the nest was a small fox plushie with a cute smile. Sophie was confused for a second until she remembered Renata had mentioned before that foxes gekker when they see a rival. Which meant that Renata was jealous and competitive of a small, soft fox plushie. Renata’s tail was puffy and her teeth were bared as she lunged forward.
“Renata, no!” Sophie ran forward but it was too late. Renata’s teeth were already tearing apart the fox plushie, her eyes holding nothing but jealousy and anger for this innocent toy. The harpy flew up and wrapped her talons around the huldra’s arms. As she began to try to pull Renata away, a familiar voice called out.
“I’m home!” Minnie’s talons clicked up the stairs. “Hey, do we have any more grub ravi-” Minnie froze when she saw the scene before her. “Oli…”
Renata’s eyes grew large and her tail went limp as she spit out the toy.She looked into Minnie’s eyes for a moment then tried to speak but nothing came out. An awkward silence filled the room before the huldra spoke once more. ‘I’m really sorry,” She ran past Minnie and down the stairs.
“Ren, wait!” Minnie called out but the front door slammed shut and the twins were left alone, confused and with a torn up toy. Minnie took a spot on her bed and held the toy. She really didn’t think that this would happen. Her pale blue eyes wandered over to the open door. She just hoped Renata wouldn’t kick herself too much over this.
-----
The next day Minnie was surprised when she heard a knock on the door. She flew down to open it, hoping to see her girlfriend’s playful smile and bright eyes. But instead no one was there. The harpy’s eyes traveled down to the ground. There lay a dozen fox plushies and a big apology card with the words I’m sorry I got jealous over a plushie. Minnie picked up the card and was immediately hit with the familiar, comforting scent of cinnamon. Renata had definitely left this. The harpy stared at the collection of plushies for a moment before scooping them up and plopping them inside the house by the door. She didn’t want Renata to feel guilty over this silly thing. “I’m heading out for a bit!” Minnie didn’t wait for a response and sprinted out the door, pulling her hoodie over her feathered arms as she made her way to act out her brilliant idea.
-----
Renata lay on her bed. Her poorly resewn bunny plushie from Swellington’s was on her desk next to a pile of homework she hadn’t done yet. She hugged her pillow close to her chest. She hoped Minnie liked the apology gift. Her mind continued to focus on that until she heard a knock at her door. Curious, the huldra walked forward and opened the door to be surprised to find Minnie who was out of breath. A big yellow bird plushie was wrapped in her arms.
“Hey, Ren, I thought...” Minnie took a moment to catch her breath, “Since you gave me a bunch of plushies that remind me of you I’d get you one that hopefully reminds you of me.” The harpy's arms shot out, red feathers falling to the ground as she held forth the big plushie. Renata’s tail twitched this way and that as she accepted it.
“It's a big bird because, y’know, I’m a big bird,” Minnie gave a nervous smile.
Renata hugged the plushie close to her before she set it down and tackled Minnie with a hug.
“I love it!” The huldra peppered the harpy with kisses.
Minnie laughed and wrapped her arms around Renata, embracing her warmth. “I’m glad.”
The pair cherished that hug for a moment longer before Renata pulled back. “So, you're not mad at me?” “Mad? Nah, I think your gekkering is pretty cute.” Minnie’s smile grew when she saw that she had flustered Renata for a moment. “But just between you and me, those plushies have got nothing on you.”
Those words made Renata beam as she pulled Minnie into another hug. The harpy looked down at her girlfriend and laughed. Yep, there was no one like Renata. The huldra who had snuck her way into Minnie’s heart. The harpy hoped she stayed there for a really long time.

Isolation update! I was planning on doing the prompt of "Sight" for @gumnut-logic challenge for the next chapter of the big fat fic (which I'm still gonna do) but this came out too. So I let the boys roll with it.
Day 76 of Isolation on Tracy Island
“Scott?”
“Hmm?”
“Do you know anything about this?” I held up my headphones, which had been previously missing for maybe the last eight months and that I had just found in the cutlery drawer.
“Yeah, they’re headphones.”
“Thank you Captain Obvious, I meant why are they in with the knives and forks?”
He shrugged. “Why are you asking me?”
“Because you were hiding socks around the place for over three weeks.”
“Only because it took you so long to give them back to me. I started after we watched Half Blood Prince, I thought it would make you laugh but you just kept ignoring them.”
“Oh, I’m so sorry I didn’t realise you needed to be freed!”
“Of course I did! I was your house elf!”
“House elves do chores! They don’t sit around being fed and demanding attention!”
“I’m a progressive house elf that is fighting for elf rights!”
“No you aren't, you’re a lazy bum!”
“Lazy? Me?”
“Yes, you!”
“I will never understand the conversations you two have,” John muttered as he pushed past us to fill his mug with the coffee I had just brewed.
“It’s affectionate arguing,” Scott laughed, sliding his mug over to John for a top up.
“So no one knows why my headphones have just suddenly turned up from wherever they vanished to and magicked themselves into the kitchen?”
“Nope,” Scott gave up waiting for John to pour him a drink and stole mine. I narrowed my eyes in his general direction. John slid a fresh cup over to me. Such a great guy.
“You know,” John mused. “I found one of my world geography books in the bathroom cupboard.”
“I found my utility knife in the piano stool,” Virgil added, wandering over to snag some toast that had just popped up.
“I just made that,” I told him.
“Thank you,” he continued to butter it. I stared at his plaid clad back for a few seconds but when he failed to burst into flames I gave up and dropped some more bread into the toaster.
“Now that I think about it,” Scott mused, “I found my guitar pick in the fruit bowl, the one that I got from that little shop in Texas. I thought I lost it for good years ago but it just appeared out of nowhere.”
“Something strange is going on,” Virgil declared. “If stuff we lost is returning there has to be a reason for it.”
“Parallel universe,” I answered confidently.
“I don’t think that's a thing,” Scott said gently.
“Apports then?” I offered.
“No, I don’t think...what’s an apport?” Virgil asked.
“An object conjured out of nothing by a ghost, obviously.”
“I don’t think this is the work of a ghost, love," John said, squeezing my shoulder as he passed by to take a seat. “There’s only one person that borrows things without asking and that’s Gordon.”
“That was going to be my next guess,” I admitted.
“Yet you went straight for ghosts and different universes?” Scott asked, clearly bemused.
“Well, maybe, just for once, I wanted something interesting to happen around here that I could actually deal with,” I huffed. “Sue me.”
“Only you could think ghosts and different realms were something that’s easy to deal with when you were the one that screamed and climbed me like a monkey because a crab ran over your foot on the beach last night,” John laughed.
“Crabs have pincers, any sane person would get away from one of them,” I pouted, reaching for some toast off Virgil’s plate. Honestly I don’t know why we don't just have communal plates in this house, no one seems to eat their own food.
“So what are we going to do about Gordon being a kleptomaniac?” I asked.
“We’ll deal with him after breakfast,” Scott decided, leaning over and biting the corner off my toast. See? No boundaries whatsoever.
***
The klepto in question was sneaking suspiciously around the lounge when we tracked him down and we caught him in the act of leaving a magnifying glass behind a book on the bookcase.
“Busted,” Scott yelled, making Gordon jump about a foot in the air.
“So it was you that’s been leaving our belongings scattered around the house,” Virgil sighed.
“Why are you doing this?” John asked, although his tone said he was debating the wiseness of even posing the question and was unsure he actually wanted an answer.
“Can’t a guy do something nice for his family?”
“He can when he’s not the one thats been stealing things in the first place,” I shot back, arms folded, foot tapping.
“I’m offended!” Gordon gasped dramatically. “A Tracy doesn’t steal unless its Virgil and a bell takes his fancy-”
“That was one time and it was an accident!”
“I may borrow things,” Gordon continued.
“For three years?” Scott snorted.
“I borrow on extended loan-”
“Without permission,” John added.
“But you always get them back eventually,” Gordon finished triumphantly. “I got bored and cleaned my room and it was like unearthing buried treasure. I may have forgotten that I borrowed a few things but you’ve got them back now, so no harm no foul.”
“Is that all you needed to return?” Virgil sighed.
“There might be a few other things scattered around,” Gordon admitted.
“Go and get them,” Scott ordered.
Gordon staggered in half an hour later weighed down by a massive box overflowing with his plundered loot.
“Seriously?” Scott gaped as the box thumped down on the table.
“All of that?” Virgil couldn't believe his eyes.
“Not surprised,” John muttered.
“How did you manage to borrow all that?” Alan asked in awe, having been summoned from his pit to claim any lost items that may have fallen into Gordons possession. “I’m not even allowed to borrow a pen.”
“It’s because he doesn’t bother asking,” John told him.
“That’s where I’ve been going wrong!”
Gordon shooty finger winked at him.
“No!” I yelped, intervening for the first time and grabbing Alan, pulling him into my arms. “Do not corrupt this precious bean.”
“Too...late,” Alan wheezed, trying to escape my python like grasp.
“Oh, sorry,” I let go and Alan took a dramatically deep breath.
“What’s in the box, Squid?” Scott asked.
Gordon tipped the box up and out tumbled a mass of things that shocked even me.
“That’s my baseball cap,” Scott snagged it.
“My gloves,” Virgil claimed them.
“That’s my camera,” John snatched it up. “I thought I left that behind on the beach and the sea took it.”
“Well, technically the sea’s representative did,” I giggled, then noticed something in the middle of the pile. “Why do you have my headscarf? You know that I use that when you guys force me to get in a boat, it makes me feel fancy.”
“Are those my sunglasses?”
“Yes, I broke mine and was going fishing.”
“Is that my lipstick?”
“Yeah, I used it to draw blood on my neck so I could be a zombie at halloween.”
“There’s my ocarina.”
“It was so weird I had to try it.”
“Is that my belt?”
“Yeah, remember that date I went on with Penny? It went really well with those navy pants.”
“I thought I lost that harmonica.”
“I was going through a depressed week and wanted to play the blues.”
“Is that my cologne?”
“Same date.”
“Why do you have my toothbrush?”
“I used it to clean the sand out of one of Four’s filters.”
“My playing cards!”
“Yeah, I wanted to learn card tricks.”
“My travel chess set!”
“Four of the pawns are missing now, sorry.
“Seriously, my drill?”
“I wanted to put up a picture.”
“Why did you need my tie?”
“That's classified.”
“That’s my favorite pen.”
“Yeah, I’ve got no excuse for that, I used it, put it in my pocket and forgot about it.”
“Gordon, why do you have my flip flops?”
“Mine broke and your’s were nearest.”
An endless stream of lost objects had suddenly returned home and it was a tad overwhelming but along with his more recent acquisitions were items that hadn’t been seen in forever.
“I remember this game!” Alan exclaimed, grabbing the box. “John and I used to play it all the time when I was little. You had to be astronauts and fly through the meteor showers and land on different planets and fight aliens. It was great. We had the best scores, no one could beat us.”
“Actually, I had the best scores,” John corrected him.
“No way, it was a team effort, we played that together every night after I got home from school.”
Virgil chuckled.
“What?” Alan looked confused. “Why are you laughing?”
“I may have taken the batteries out of your controller and just let you think you were playing.” John admitted.
“What! That was one of my greatest achievements in life!”
“Alan, you went into space when you were thirteen,” John pointed out.
“Oh yeah!”
Virgil spotted a book and picked it up. “I haven’t seen this since we were little.”
“Oh, I remember that one,” Scott smiled. “Mom had it when she was small and she used to read it to us every thanksgiving.”
John was busy sifting through the pile. “Hey, my first star globe, why do you have this?”
“Remember when I used to get upset when Dad went away? Well you used to point out all the different stars to me on it and where the moon was near them.”
“Oh yeah,” John smiled, “I remember that, I let you borrow it to keep beside your bed so you could see where Dad was every night.”
“That’s my old teddy bear,” Scott smiled, picking it up and sitting it on his lap. “I left him with you when I went to college.”
“I know, I told you that I was too old to have a plushie in my room but you insisted. I passed him on to Alan and when we moved I guess he got packed up with my things.”
“That’s the children’s guitar that Mom taught us to play,” Virgil picked it up and strummed a few cords but the tuning was terrible.
“I’ve never seen that before,” Alan said quietly. “In fact, I don’t remember much of any of this stuff.” He gestured to the pile of things that still remained scattered on the table top. “I don’t know that pencil sharpener, that snow globe or those shell bracelets, I don’t know any of it.”
“Neither do I,” I reminded him, wrapping an arm around his shoulders.
“I don’t have any memories of them so they don’t mean anything to me.”
“But that’s what’s so great about things and why I keep telling your brother that not everything has to have a use all the time. Things are there to remind us of the good times, just the sight of them can conjure up images, but they are also there to encourage us to share those memories. I used to love looking through my Nan and Grandad’s cupboards because I discovered so many things that were interesting,” I told him. “I’d ask them about them and they would tell me where they got them or who they belonged to before they got them and it was so nice to see the joy that the memories brought them. Pick something and ask about them, let’s share memories.”
Slowly Alan reached out to touch the small pile of shell bracelets.
“Where did these come from?”
“We were on a trip to the beach,” Scott started.
“Gordon was running all over picking up little shells and bringing them back to Mom,” Virgil continued.
“She ended up with a huge pile of them,” John laughed. “But Gordon didn't want her to put them back.”
“She ended up asking Dad to drill a tiny hole through each of them and she made them into bracelets for us as a reminder of the vacation,” Scott picked up the story.
“We wore them for a few days but Gordon kept stealing them because he loved the shells,” Virgil added.
“I remember that,” Gordon smiled. “There’s a picture in the album of me wearing them all, I don’t look any older than five.”
Alan picked them up, rubbing one of the shells between thumb and finger. “Why are there five of them?”
“Because Mom was pregnant with you at the time and said that you were there too so you should have a bracelet,” Scott smiled, reaching over to take one. “This was mine.”
One by one the others each claimed a bracelet, leaving Alan with just one.
“You’re right, that’s a nice story to hear,” he admitted, slipping the bracelet over his hand.
“Hey, here’s an idea,” I suggested. “This has been a mad few months, how about we start a new memory box and in ten years time we’ll look back in it and remember the longest vacation ever.”
“Yeah,” Alan nodded. “That could be cool.”
The box slowly filled up with bits and pieces.
Here are some of them.
-Some of our finished colouring pages.
-Gordon’s tablet that hadn’t recovered from its unscheduled dip in the bath.
-Brains’s broken glasses and a broken piece of his microscope that fell off of Alan when we played human buckaroo
-A small pile of post-it’s which Scott had used on April fools day to label everything in the lounge.
-The rubber spider John had pranked me with.
-A pair of the bunny ears the boys wore to deliver Easter eggs.
-The empty bottle of ‘Chill Pills’ Scott got for his birthday.
-A selection of our pictionary artwork.
-The beauty blender Virgil ruined on Gordon’s face.
-An empty popcorn bag Alan found stuffed between the couch cushions from one of our many movie nights.
-One of Scott’s socks that hadn’t been found before.
-A gaudy necklace from our lip sync battle
-A clue list from our scavenger hunt
-A shell I picked up on the beach the day they taught me to surf.
-The evil Furby
-The purple wig we made John wear (he was very glad to donate it to the memory box)
“OK, so, we don’t take anything out but we can add more for as long as isolation goes on?” Alan confirmed.
“Yep,” I nodded. “Who’s going to be in charge of keeping it safe?”
“Gordon should,” Alan said. “Since he seems to be the keeper of everyone’s things.”
“Even without permission,” John muttered, tucking his pen into his pocket in case it went walkies again.
“Actually,” Gordon said, “I think Alan should look after it for us.”
“Really? You mean that?” Alan grinned.
“Sure, kiddo,” Scott agreed. “After all, they’re your memories too

tell me the first song that made you stan your current fave group and why did your faves attract you so much?
of course, none other than king943 hSJADJSAJHAS. He’s a little secret I’ll let you all in on: the first person I actually noticed in TXT was,,,,,,, Kang Taehyun hSDHJAHJSDAHSA but he wasn’t my bias. I just thought he was cute (also amused me bc my BTS bias was Taehyung and I found a guy named Taehyun cute), but I didn’t stan them then. I started stanning when I saw ONE DREAM.TXT where they talked to BTS and found them really cute and endearing. Looking into them, they were wild, and chaotic and so fun and also i got rEAAAALLY attached to Soobin. So here I am. There u go, my stanning story.

rule: answer the ten questions and write your own!
what’s your unrealistic goal for life?
becoming a famous actress or singer hJSHADJSA
if you had known that we would be in a global pandemic, what’s one thing that you would’ve done before things shut down (if they have for you)?
Went to a theme park. I miss going to theme parks 🥺
what’s an unconventional thing that you carry around with you when you go out?
hmmm most of the time i just go out with just my phone and money unless I need to bring a bag due to safety concerns/more items needed. So I’d say nothing unconventional.
favourite type of plushies and why?
God do I seem boring hsahsajjsa but i wasn’t too big on plushies. I had a gigantic teddy bear named Justin when I was a kid (it’s a bear with shades that my brother gave me) and I used to buy plushies whenever I’m in disneyland, it’s all in my sister’s reading lounge. The only plushie in my room now is a Mollang doll wearing like a blue shirt/dress, it’s my favorite rn It’s squishyyyy
favourite song right now?
right now, it’s Work It by Sabrina Carpenter.
something that you’ve always wanted to learn?
Dancing (i literally suck. i have no idea how. no joke), Vocal Lessons (had some lessons briefly for like a year but i stopped and want to take some again), music production, acting, hosting
tell a funny story about yourself (or just something that you’ve witnessed)
ok okok so one time in our class groupchat we were talking about class elections for officers. There were muse votes and some people were saying they want me to be the muse but i didnt want to bc i was busy with work. Then they started saying that they want me to be the muse and this guy that i rejected be the escort. while this is happening, i was simping hard for soobin in another chat. anyways, i got everything mixed up and accidentally sent the soobin simp stuff to the class chat and everyone thought i was simping for the classmate i rejected i was so asHAMED.
headphones or speakers? why?
speakers! idk i just like blastic the music loud.
craving any food right now? what are you craving?
anything with cheese
which music streaming platform do you prefer? why?
spotify since its free for me askjjksad someone pays for my subscription lmaooo
😌✌️
Tumblr media
questions from cj to me:
android or apple? why?
APPLE because im loyal 😌 and i guess im just used to it so its easier to use for me + all my gadgets at home are mac
words of affirmation or physical affection? why?
I think there should be a good balance of both. The words will have the ability to give you this sense of comfort and satisfaction and you know just overall a peace of mind when you hear the right words??? and physical affection bc sometimes it’s just better to get a hug or a kiss isntead of talking yk? actions speak louder than words sometimes
bean bag or rocking chair? why?
Honestly, this would depend. If I’m reading a book and feeling very vintage with a hot cup of coffee, definitely a rocking chair. If I’m watching TV and basically just chilling I’d go for Bean Bag. I like maintaining the atmosphere.
do you view a half-filled glass as half-full or half-empty or an in-between? why? (go as deep as you can)
I view it as in-between, because there’s always room for improvement. There’s always things to change, and consider, and make better. There’s no such thing as perfect.
If someone were to grant your wish right now, what would it be and why?
Please stop corona right now and let everyone go back to their daily lives and please let me attend a TXT concert bls im begging on my kNEES
if someone were to give you anything you want right now, what would it be and why? (something that can be held)
Give me Soobin I just want to give him a hug. this is valid i can hold him
favorite season and why
Winter! Even if I’ve never experienced snow or winter before, the whole idea of snow is just really fun and endearing to me. One of my bucketlists is to see snow in real life. I think it has to do with the fact that I’ve always been this person to prefer the cold over heat.
what made you enter tumblr?
I’ve always been here! Just not in kpop tumblr. I’ve since deleted my old accounts and shame  but i came back to write. It’s always been so stress-relieving to me, to write without any expectations on my back because I’m thinking about grades or a competition. Also Soobin simping is a daily thing and I gotta release it somewhere man
are you happy with where you are in life right now? why or why not?
Yes. I may not be the richest or the prettiest, or smartest or whatever, but I have a good family that loves me. I have good friends that support me and I have TXT and BTS to help me cope when things get overwhelming. I have a job that gives me a little bit of income (it’s not too common for college students here to get jobs like in the US, most of them just focus on acads) and all the means to continue my education amidst the pandemic. So really, I’m grateful for where I am now.
to see the boys in real life but for it to happen only once in your lifetime, or to meet the boys via online fan meeting as many times as you can in your lifetime? why?
Why do you have to do me dirty cj,,,,, prolly online. I may not get to hug them or anything but I get to talk to them still. As may times as I want to. And as a girl whose sanity literally just depends on Soobin giggles rn it’ll be very therapeutic to me to see them and talk to them as much as I could, even just through a screen.
QUESTIONS FROM ME TO YOU:
Cinema or Netflix? Why?
Fire or Rain? Why?
What’s the worst experience you’ve had as a KPOP stan?
How do you handle stress?
Favorite Disney Princess and why?
Which fictional character do you say you relate the most to?
How did you get into KPOP?
What kind of merch you got 👀
Would you date a KPOP idol? What would you do if you do date one? (doesnt have to be your bias, just wanna see what y’all would do)
Would you rather be with someone you love but doesn’t love you back or be with someone that loves yu but you don’t love them back? (Or, as the Filipinos would say, Mahal ko o Mahal Ako)

Apologize P1 & 2
REAL LIFE: X CREATIVE COUPLE: TBS X READER RATING: DARK + SAD
Tumblr media
It was raining, Or so my mother told me.
August 24th At 00:02 am,
I made my grand Arrival into this world.
Loudly, Or so my family told me.
They liked to joke that my screams woke everyone who lived within five miles of the hospital when I was born.
I was Named After my Great Grandmother who we had just lost a few months before I was born.
I was taken to a little Semi-detached house on a little road with a big sister and a Puppy to keep me company.
I remember the tree in our garden that always summoned butterflies.
I remember the Buttercups in the garden flower pots, I do believe I ate the dirt from one of them once,
I don't remember much of being a little girl I just remember being happy and giggly
I think i would have revelled in it a little longer if I knew what was coming,
I Remember the first day of school, My mother never sent me to Preschool as she thought it was expensive and it was far easier to just have me at home as she worked from home anyway, But I remember the first day away from that house.
I stood in a little striped white and blue dress with grey socks and Shinny black shoes that squeaked if they touched each other My Thick hair Pulled tight into a painful ponytail holding a Plush Bear, Looking up at the high green gates that where taller then the buildings themselves the buildings grey and boring bricks with Strangely arranged doors with children running around of all sorts of ages most of the year groups staying to themselves,
And suddenly I was alone with a million eyes on me in every possible direction I felt like I wanted to cry so I ran as fast as my little feet would carry me over to my big sister who stood with some friends
"what do you want?" she asked,
"play?" I asked
"Go play with kids in your class," she says pushing me over to a kids my own age "Go Make friends Y/n"
so I sat on the concrete floor rocks poking my legs and bottom, till something hit my arm
"Owww!" I complained as my arm began hurting
"Are you okay?" A voice asked I turned to look and it was a boy the same age as me with a football and a little plushie seal tucked into his shirt pocket he was tall for his age and quite lanky with a blonde mop of hair and big brown eyes
"yeah" I nodded
"Then Get out the way next time!" He yelled before he ran off,
Not long after someone came out with a bell so I went to the class they told me too and the teacher lead me to a desk with my name written on it I looked at the name next to me
'Thomas Brodie Sangster' I looked to the person taking the seat beside me it was the boy who hit me with the ball
"Ohh its you?" He sighed "Why did I have to sit with the Ugly girl!" He whined to the teacher
"Thomas thats not very nice!" The teacher said
"I Don't wanna sit next to the fat girl!" He yelled
"Thomas sit down and appologize to Y/n" the teacher orders
I didn't know why but I was already crying so I held my ear tight and ran to the toilets sitting under the sinks with my bear
I sat at my desk a little excited as I did some maths work Looking at my table, I was the only one in class who didn't share a table with someone else, as Thomas threw a fit and knowone else would willingly sit with me, it was nice as I got a whole desk to myself and I put my bear in the spare chair, however, everyone had someone to talk to... everyone but me.
I glanced up at the board with the problems written all over it we were meant to be solving even if most people were just messing around with each other I saw Thomas across the room doing his work sitting with his freind mark who was making paper aeroplanes and throwing them at various people Thomas was looking at me leaning his head on his hand his elbow on the table he was looking right at me the second I looked over he stuck his tounge out at me so I looked away back to my work
"Right everyone, hand back your work and get your bags ready for swimming lessons," the teacher said so I passed my work to the next table and got up going out to the coat hooks getting my little swimming bag, it was clear blue plastic with all my things wrapped up in it I felt a shove almost hitting my head on the wall
"Surprised you didn't crack the wall!" Thomas's Voice Yelled as he grabbed his stuff and went back to the classroom I sighed taking my things back to the classroom lining up in alphabet order, Once the teacher said so we all walked out to the bus, as usual, I sat on my own Looking out the window watching the water run up and down the window as it had gathered in between the layers of the glass in the window I ignored the paper planes and sandwich wrappers being thrown at me the whole journey rushing into the girls changing room at the pool, I almost ran hiding in a little cubicle not watching to be around the other girls changing into my blue and white swimsuit, I went outputting my stuff away in a locker and lining up at the back of the rest of the girls in there cute little pink bikini's and costumes with butterflies and flowers There Young Bodies starting to slowly mature some of them in training bar's and a few of them using makeup already Once it was time to go out I tried to stay away from view best I could not wanting anyone to make fun of me we walked out to the pool complex the smell of clorine and the heat in the air, the little waves in the empty pool, all the girls sitting on the ledge waiting for the instructor all of them making eyes at the boys who sat around on the other ledge
"Ohh my god!" A voice laughed I looked and noticed, ever girl was sat and there was no space for me meaning everyone was looking at me being the only one stood up. Their eyes felt like knives Like There glares burnt my skin like acid as they all looked at me judging every inch of my body there were whispers and laughs amongst each other until
"Look, Everyone" A Familiar voice laughed It was Thomas stood, his mop of blonde hair tussled in his hand his thin lanky body exposes all but his blue loose-fitting shorts "Its Y/n The Manatee!"
and within seconds the name stuck and everyone was pointing and laughing at me
"Y/n the manatee! Y/n the Manatee!" over and over and over again.
"Ohh what's the matter you gonna cry?" he asked me grabbing the strap of my swimsuit pulling it high and letting go causing it to painfully snap on my skin "Oh no Manatee Cry those ugly little eyes out!"
"Thomas Brodie Sangster!" A voice yelled it was the instructor man with his whistle "Is that any way to treat a young Lady?"
"Hardly a lady is she" He argued
"You Apologize this second young man!"
"NO!" He screamed grabbing my hair by my ponytail My immediate reaction was to scream at the top of my lungs as he pulled my hair hard and threw me into the pool ...
I stood putting my coat on the hook outside the classroom as well as my other things getting my thick heavy books to use almost as a shield from people's eyes as I took my seat we didn't have any work to do today so I put my head in my books trying to ignore the groups of people talking about the new school, there were three in the area we could attend, the Gramma school, The Academy and the other school. I was hoping maybe people from here wouldn't be going to the same school as me so I'd get a new start away from these people but more than anything I hoped I'd e away from Thomas.
I had begged my mother to let me stay home from school somedays,
Or to take me on holiday,
Or to transfer me to another school,
this horrible comments had made me cry myself to sleep more nights than I dare to count,
I hoped with all my heart that he wouldn't be coming to the same school as me,
If he was I wouldn't be able to escape his torment for another four years.
I almost finished my book when the teacher wished us all luck for September and bid us all goodbye so I went putting my books in my bag when I suddenly felt a slap on my butt I panicked and almost screamed
"So where are you going in September Y/n Manatee?"
"None of your Business Thomas"
"Well we will find out won't we Y/n" he smirked
I remember being overwhelmed looking at this huge school filled with people fighting, running and yelling at each other I looked at the map in my hand slightly struggling to read it heading to the block and room that was to be my form room for the next four years opening the door
"Ohh come in really! I think I'm stuck in this fuckers gravitational pull!" Thomas laughed
"Thomas Brodie Sangster! Don't use that word!' the teacher yelled
"Which one?" He asked
"The f word, one more time and I'll give you detention" the teacher warns
"I'm not sitting with her!" He complained
"Well I'm sure if you two had a talk you could become best friends" the teacher suggested
"I don't want anything to do with... Her" he groaned
"Thomas you will sit with her" the teacher says "go on dear"
I sighed and took the seat next to Thomas he groaned moving his chair away from me as far as he could get, I put my books down on the desk and began to read while he was sat drawing something in a superhero notebook, his black trousers very loose to his skinny form infact they had been turned up at the bottom so they wouldn't drag on the floor, his white shirt so loose it was almost falling off him, his black blazer miles to big for him, his messy mop of blonde hair I noticed was starting to turn dark brown at the roots his hair slightly neat almost like a 50's giff
"What the fuck are you looking at?" He asked me "Y/n manatee"
"I like your drawing" I answered
He looked shocked by my words shutting his notebook avoiding my eyes
"Thanks Y/n"
"Your welcome Thomas" I smiled
"Thomas... Why did you, you know, on our last day at school?"
"Why do you care?" He laughs
"Curious" I shrugged
"None of your fucking business!"
"Thomas Brodie Sangster! Go to the office emmediatly!" The teacher yelled
I took my pe bag to the bathroom in the changing room locking the stall door and sitting in the toilet as I opened my bag starting to change pulling off my blazer and undoing my shirt revealing my white t-shirt bra the straps digging into my plump skin, the cups having a little space but not much where my chest was starting to painfully grow I pushed off my skirt and tights leaving me in my little white underwear the fabric breaking away from the elastic, I put my shirt and shorts on hiding my stuff in a little corner in the changing room while the girls all stood giggling and having fun while they got changed I waited outside the changing room till everyone else had gone
"Hey? You alright Miss Lewis?" One of the PE teachers asked as he walked past
"Yeah, fine sir" I answered walking out to the field hiding behind everyone I could see the boys on the other side of the field running around the muddy grass in their shorts and little shirts running around playing football as well as trying to check out the girls
"Alright, Boys come on over!" The teacher yelled and the boys all ran other excited "Right today we are playing boy's Vs Girl's at rounders"
I did my best for the whole game to hide away from people until I spotted him...
Thomas, He was feilding currently his hard crossed against his chest looking a little bored and he was looking... at me
"Miss Lewis Your Up!" The teacher yelled I went up going to take the bat from one of the boys who was feilding but he dropped it on the floor
"Ohh sorry Manatee" He laughs so I kneeled down to pick it up and he kicked dust on my face it instantly getting in my eyes and irritating me but I ignore it best I could The boy who was pitching smirked and threw the ball at me so low and so hard that it hit my leg I wanted to scream but I bit my mouth hard holding my leg in pain
"You Alright?" The teacher asks and I nodded even if I was lying they threw it again and I managed to hit it so I started running even if my leg was making me limp
"Run Y/n Manatee run! Run Manatee Run!" A voice shouted it sounded like Thomas but before I could even get to the first base the whole of the class of girls and the class of boys were singing it at me I kept going trying to fight back tears "Ohh whats the matter Manatee you gonna cry?" Thomas yelled as he grabbed the ball "Hey Manatee Catch!" before I knew what was going on I was on the ground In a pile of mud and dirt my head felt like it was bleeding my ankle in agony I knew I was crying
"Thomas Brodie Sangster! Go to the Headmasters office Immediately!" I heard a teacher scream at the top of her lungs
"Oh my god, you okay Y/n?" A voice asks carefully helping me up but I screamed as I tried to put the weight on my hands or feet "Miss! I think Y/n's Really hurt!" I looked to see this boy he must have been one of the base guys or something, I didn't recognise him he had a skinny figure like Thomas but a mop of brown messy hair, chocolate brown eyes and an Ashsma Inhaler in his hand
"Dan go get the nurse!" The teacher yelled and this boy got up and sprinted towards the buildings
"Y/n you okay hun?" she asks me
"I can't get up," I told her
"It's okay we're going to get to checked out" she says
I sat at home in my bed doing school work with my ankle in plaster, I had broken my ankle in the fall, as well as dislocating my wrist, as well as having a massive bruise on my head from the ball that was thrown at me so I'd been home, technically the doctor said I could return to school by now after all the time I've had off but I didn't want to go back for as long as I could convince my mother and in all honestly she didn't want me to go back yet, she had been into meetings and had so many calls to the school angry about Thomas getting one-week detention, that was it thats all he got for breaking my ankle.
"Knock knock? How you doing Y/n?" A voice asks at my door I looked at it was Dan from school, the boy who came to check I was okay after the accident, He had been visiting me because my house was actually on his walk home and he was delivering my homework and such as well as keeping me up to date with stuff that was going on
"Okay" I shrug
"Uhhh Here, I got some a little something to help you get better," He says showing the little bunch of daisies
"Ohh Dan thats so sweet" I smiled as he came over giving me them they looked really nice
"Thomas's a dick" He sighed
"Yeah" I sighed looking out the window
"You okay?" He asked
"Yeah... Just don't really wanna think about it"
"Sorry"
"Y/n... I hope you get better soon" He says giving my head a kiss close to my bruise "here's your maths homework, You think you might be back in class Monday?"
"Maybe Dan"
"Okay... see ya Y/n"
I sat reading my book when I heard steps up the stairs
"Hey, Y/n? How are you feeling?" Dan asks as he came giving me a hug in his loose blue jeans and his grey superhero shirt his blue hoodie over him loosely
"Better... doctors say a few more weeks till my ankle is better," I said
"Does that mean you can come back to school soon?"
"maybe" I shrugged as he sat with me
"what are you reading?"
"Lord of the rings" I smiled
"ooohhh..." He smiled
"So? why are you visiting today?" I asked
"You know a Saturday out the house plus I was headed this way anyway" He shrugs
"why where you headed this way?"
"Uhhhh.... look Y/n I uhh-"
"You done yet Kiss ass?" A voice asks from my door I looked and I froze with fear it was Thomas stood in his black jeans and a blue button-down "Hey manatee"
"What's he doing here?" I asked in a panic
"Please Thomas can't you just go and see your girlfriend already" Dan complained
"Fine... don't let her sit on your face Danmi she'll break your neck" He laughed before he left again
"Thomas is my brother Y/n" he answered, "Didn't you notice we look like almost identical apart from our hair?" he laughed "He was heading off to see his girlfriend so I thought I'd pop in here"
"Thomas has a girlfriend?" I asked
"Yeah, Linsdey,"
"Linsdey?" I asked very confused
"tall, Blonde, plays hockey? has the Gucci handbag for class?"
"Ohh I think she's in my English class"
"Yeah, she's nice a bit... uhhh stupid. shes been over to ours a few times I normally go outside and play football in the garden as they want the bedroom all to themselves" He explained "I don't get it"
"get what?"
"why he's dating her?"
"Well why not? she's pretty, I'm sure Thomas must like her"
"I guess Y/n, You... kinda like Thomas don't you?"
"Why would I?" I asked "He's tormented me for as long as I can remember, he's made every weekday of my life a living hell, he's called me names, he's sent me to hospital, he's had be crying myself to sleep more times then I can count, he's made me skip school so much, he's made me feel so bad that... I've stopped eating because of what he says about me, I've made myself sick, I've... I'm afraid of him." I explain "And I don't know what I did to make him do this to me"
"You... don't get how guys work do you Y/n?" He says holding my hand "when a girl flirts with us, we're not interested. When a girl says no and walks away, We're obsessed. When a Boy makes fun of a girl... it means he likes her."
"Thomas hates me..."
"Y/n Listen to me... my brother is a fucking idiot who knows what to do with his emotions about as well as you know what to do with a dick" he laughs "I wouldn't tell you this if I didn't think it was true Y/n"
"I Just want Thomas to leave me alone, I just want to blend in... I don't want to be popular or a sports star or anything I just wanna blend into the background so knowone sees me"
"I know Y/n," He says giving my hand a kiss "Anyway... do you think you can help me out for what to say on my date with mark?"
"Course Dan" I laughed

Review of Kaitogirl’s Underfell
Tumblr media
Plot & Other Details
Like many works that trace Frisk’s journey through the Underground, the plot is pretty simple and linear. Frisk rewinding time when killed slightly complicates the timeline, but Frisk has only died three times so far.
As Underfell works go, the work is mild. As expected, there's sometimes blood (though rarely in large amounts), and plenty of swearing. Despite the setting, characters are often mean, cynical, and aggressive rather than outright evil or murderous, and are easily pacified. Situations are also rarely very frightening or violent. Along with its simple, rounded, relatively well-lit style, it's much milder than HorrorTale or the famous Flowey is Not a Good Life Coach.
Characterization
Frisk
Tumblr media
Given the situation, Frisk is rather bold, though still friendly and pacifistic. At first, they think they’re dreaming, explaining their unworried approach. However, when Toriel kills them in an escape attempt, they realize they’re not dreaming and break down, sobbing. Yet they quickly recover after dreadful realizations, fights and even death, becoming a happy camper once more. Literally: it's like Frisk is just an experienced camper lost in a bear-filled forest, rather than a strange land of monsters trying to kill them. They even feel safe enough for Flowey to read books and history plaques to them, despite Flowey’s reminder they’re in a hurry. (This might be explained by Frisk being too young to understand the danger they’re in, or realize their power makes them unkillable)
While friendly and forgiving, sometimes Frisk is insistent, such as yanking Flowey out of the ground to put him in a boot and thus carry him into Toriel’s house.
Flowey
In many Underfell works, monsters' morality is basically flipped: good characters are now 'evil'. Thus, the murderous, sociopathic Flowey is now a helpful companion, often carried by Frisk. Though that's true here, Flowey is not sweet or innocent. He is prone to anger, frustration, and indignant outbursts, and sometimes intimidates weaker monsters with a scary face. He says he "can't console people", and smacks Frisk to make them stop sobbing. Flowey knows "in this world, it's kill or be killed", but is sad and resigned about it. Overall, he might be as Flowey once was before choosing murder runs.
In this work, Asriel was once a jerk: he took Chara to his parents while eagerly asking about killing them. Thus, it's likely Flowey is only 'good' because Asriel was once bad. Notably, Flowey mentally calls himself 'Asriel', apparently only coming up with 'Flowey' when Frisk asked for his name.
Toriel
As expected, Toriel is meaner and more violent than in canon. Indeed, Flowey is afraid she'll kill him and Frisk if she spots the two of them, and is surprised when she doesn't. It's likely she outright kills monsters in the Ruins: Flowey notices one hallway is "dustier than usual", and afterward her clothes have dust stains. She’s more disdainful of Flowey than in canon, calling him a 'weed', threatening him, and initially refusing to let him into her house.
Her sadness and long isolation apparently damaged her social skills, or even sanity. Her pie is very burnt, and has so much cinnamon it makes Frisk cough. Having run out of butterscotch, she put in monster dust instead, which isn't at all reasonable. Though she would surely know how bad the pie was, she aggressively insists Frisk eat it and not even think of throwing up afterward. When Frisk tricks her to escape, she calls them ungrateful and burns them alive at the exit.
Yet, she can still be kind: she sheltered Frisk, gave them food, tucked them in and gave them a plushie as they slept. (Though she glares at Flowey for noticing the latter two) Frisk points out her kindness in the fight: they say they don't really want to leave, and that's she's not evil, just lonely and sad. Toriel is stunned. She breaks down, sobs, and says: "Why are you being...so nice to me?” However, she is so deranged she soon "realizes" Frisk's kindness is a trick, a prelude to greater horrors, and she chases them out of the Ruins.
Papyrus & Sans
Sans hasn’t actually changed much. He has a taste for meaner, darker jokes. Compared to other characters, he is uncommitted: he’s neither especially helpful nor harmful to Frisk, though a few of his actions could have gotten Frisk hurt or killed anyway. While he does kill Frisk with an electric shock from a joy buzzer, when Frisk reloads and refuses to shake his hand, he guesses that the buzzer would have probably killed them anyway.
Here, Sans definitely knows about Flowey. Though he knows Alphys had been looking for Flowey, he didn't report him: he found it more entertaining to keep seeing Alphys throw a fit. (Notably, he asks Frisk's name, unlike in canon.)
Papyrus is even more confident and egotistic than before, as shown by the even more muscular snow sculpture of himself. While canon Papyrus never dismissed others for his self-enhancement, this Papyrus does just that, calling Frisk a "pathetic weakling". He is still a skeleton with high standards: while more vicious, he insists on fair puzzles and fights. (despite talking about how much he'll benefit from capturing Frisk)

Left: The first page. Right: A re-do of the first page, showing improvements in shading and lighting.
Though not as polished and precise as other comics, the art improves over time. Indeed, there's a big jump in quality on the last page of the Snowdin arc and later in Waterfall, too. The lineart is crisper, the shading better, and the colors richer. (if very purple) While the hand-lettering has tight and irregular spacing at first, it improves a lot midway through the Snowdin arc.
As appropriate for an "edgy" setting, characters are toothier and spikier, to the point even Moldsmal and Papyrus's house (using icicles) are spiky. As expected for Underfell, characters look scarier, with duller, darker colors. Red and black (unsurprisingly) dominate the work: not only are many characters’ clothes red and black, but even attacks are often red. (Except fire, oddly enough: that's blue instead.) Colors are changed to darker, duller, and redder shades overall.

The right image illustrates about half the colors in Snowdin.
Often, this results in shades one could broadly call "purple", especially reddish purple. For example, the walls of the Ruins are reddish-purple, and sometimes Snowdin's snow is purplish-taupe. The purple-ification is especially obvious with the Echo Flowers (once cyan, now phlox), Waterfall (once dark blue/indigo, now dark bluish purple) and the gratuitous purple Moldsmals. Indeed, it's so purple one could easily call this work "that purple Underfell".
Yet, one could also call this "that low-green Underfell". Other than Flowey's (often dull) green stem, there is practically no green in the Ruins. Things get greener in Snowdin, though the trees are a fairly dull shade. (Oddly so: the trees were actually blue in-game). In Waterfall, green becomes rare once again.
Yellow and orange are rare, too, if less so. Frisk's skin is not mango-yellow, but an only slightly yellowish beige. Monster Kid is mostly a washed-out orange (who gets even less yellow by Waterfall), and wears red-and-black clothes. Even monsters' outfits have less yellow, such as Papyrus, Shopkeeper Temmie and especially the Nice Cream Man. In some cases, though, the work adds yellow: Napstablook and Toriel have yellow eyes, Sans has a yellow tooth, and Undyne's armor has yellow accents.
One can get used to the limited color scheme over its hundreds of pages. But the bright, green-and-yellow palette of Flowey’s dream sequence in Page 126 and Waterfall’s yellow history-plaque flashbacks remind the reader of the limited colors.Even the comic itself lampshades its dark, limited palette: Papyrus's color tile puzzle is various shades of grey, black, and white.
Conclusion
For those who want something a little scarier and unhappier than canon Undertale, but aren't quite ready for darkfic or standard Underfell approaches, Kaitogirl's Underfell is a perfect middle ground.
