WIP Wednesday
Tagged by @merge-conflict and oml i actually have something to share that isn't just. a brief line of dialogue and loose vibes.
don't have the brain power to tag anyone rn sorry folks 🫠
The trail doesn’t so much as end as it is unfinished, her steps slowing with the sound of desperate pleading just beyond what would be a doorway, if one of its heavy wooden doors wasn’t lying shattered and the other barely holding onto its hinges.
“—ever they’re paying you! I’ll double it! I’ll—”
A familiar sound answers; the distinct slide and click of panels, a building hum. They always try begging for their life first, sobbing about the family they’ll leave, appealing to a humanity she doubts was ever there. And when that fails, well…Smasher’s a merc through and through, and eddies are their lifeblood.
“T-triple! Triple it!”
It never works. The pleading suit manages one last sob before their head paints the white walls of their office. Victoria steps in then and casts a critical eye over the room. Ugh, a minimalist. The only colour was the splatter of red on the wall behind their desk.
Smasher stands out all the more starkly for it; a great obsidian beast in an office of marble. He left distinct prints in the white-furred carpet, bloody and two-pronged as if the devil had stepped through. “I told you to wait.”
“You did.” Something squishes under heel as she follows the crimson trail, soft and unpleasantly meaty. A smear is left in her own wake, her foot dragged across the carpet to wipe whatever it was off. “But her,” a nod towards what was left of the dead suit, “little friends started to swarm. You were the safer option.”
His optics brighten, an amused sound escaping as his arm’s panels click back into place. “You might want to get your head checked, Blondie.”
“I’ll consider it. Are we done here?”
“Get what you can from her computer. The cunt gave me nothing.” There’s shouts far down the hallway; outrage, disgust. Someone gags, another heaves. She rolls her eyes as she makes her way to the desktop.
“Not true.” She says, kicking the chair out of the way and ignoring the headless body as it thuds against the floor. “She offered you triple the pay.”
