Risking everything - part two
I’m finally posting the second part. I hope you guys liked the first one!
Warnings: mention of shootings and gunfire
Tumblr media
sum: you have a violent father who tries to keep you as close as possible to him, especially since he discovered that you started dating J. He knew about his family, which you didn’t. One night your father has to leave for “business”, but he doesn’t leave you alone, and has paid two guards to stay with you. You got rid of them and you managed to stay at J’s place. But it won’t go as planned.
_______________________________________________________________________
You were sleeping peacefully (for once) in J’s arms. It felt good, finally resting, sleeping knowing no one will burst through the door and take you somewhere, beat you. J was holding you tight, refusing to let you go. He will not loose you. But a big noise woke both of you.
“What was that?” I said my heart racing.
“I don’t know” he got up. “Don’t move” he quietly walked towards the window.
“do you see anything?” I whispered.
“People, I- shit” He quickly came back to the bed.
“What is it?” He looked at me while grabbing something under his bed. “J” He pulled out a gun and charged it.
“you stay here”
“It’s my dad isn't it”
“It’s going to be okay. Just hide in the closet okay? If you hear anything, you DON’T move” the door suddenly opened, J turned and was about to shoot.
“Fuck sake, Pope!”
“they’re here”
“yeah no shit”
“there are many, at least 5/6 guys”
“shit. Where’s smurf?”
“I don’t know, she’s not here. I’ll go get Deran and Craig” then he left.
“y/n, go in the closet” I didn’t say anything, just did what he said. I heard him leaving. I was trying not to panic, everything was because of me. I put everyone in danger. Then suddenly, I heard gunshots. I gasped. I was hoping that no one would be heart because of me. Then I heard yelling.
“WHERE IS SHE” I recognised the voice, my father. I knew he would come, he won’t leave me alone. I don’t know why he wants to keep me, I’m not very useful for him, more like a burden.
I didn’t hear anything for some time, so I quietly opened the door. I didn’t see any one so I got out. When I arrived at the door, I check but didn’t see anyone. It was so dark, I could barely see. Then I heard something behind me. I slowly turned my head to see that someone was at the window, and was about to shot me. shit. I quickly ran outside the room, not knowing where to go. I was looking for J, or anyone that could help me. Then someone grabbed me, I was about to scream but the guy put his hand on my mouth.
“Ssh don’t make a sound”
“who are you?” I whispered.
“Deran”
“Oh okay good, someone good”
“you should have stayed where you were hiding”
“I know, but I didn’t hear anything, so.. I thought I was over” he gave me this bitch-are-you-stupid-look.
“you haven’t watched enough movies? That’s the thing they all do and they die or get kidnapped because of that” I rolled my eyes.
“anyway. where’s J?”
“I don’t know, I think outside”
I don’t know how it happened, but J was in fact outside, on the ground covered in blood, because my father was beating him. Someone was holding me tight. Deran was being held too. He ran out of bullets and we got caught. Then someone shot from the roof. Everyone went on the ground. I took advantage of that and ran inside. I was hiding behind the counter in the kitchen. I was hearing gunshots outside.
“DON’T SHOOT OR I’LL KILL HIM” I stood up a little, just enough to stay hidden. I saw that my father was pointing the gun towards J. Then I heard noise from the roof, and two people fell from it. I gasped.
“shit” I said.
“Y/N !! I know you’re not really far, come outside” I was wondering what I was supposed to do. Everyone got caught, they could not help me. More guys would probably be in the rest of the house, I literally have no issues. Then my eyes wondered on the table on my right. There was still some guns. I crawled there, and took one.
“I can’t do this, I can’t do this” I whispered. “but if I don’t, they’re all going to die, I can’t let that happen, I'll be dead anyway” I took a deep breath and crawled back where I was. I was on my knees, trying to point to the guards holding Deran. “You can do this, you can do this. You don’t have the choice.” I closed my eyes, took a deep breath, and I pulled the trigger. I heard a scream. I hid under the counter again. “did I do this? Was it someone else? Smurf?” I couldn’t watch, it was too much. Then I heard an other gunshot. I opened my eyes, realising it wasn't me. I didn't do that. I stood up to look outside to see two guards on the ground. My father was nowhere to be found and J was gone too. This was too much. I put the gun under my shirt and went outside, holding my hands in the air. “STOP PLEASE STOP” I screamed.
“y/n no!” I heard J screamed, but I couldn't find him anywhere. Then I saw my father standing up from behind the bar, holding J really tight, the gun pointed to his head.
“Don’t hurt him please”
“It’s a little too late honey. I told you to stay away from him and his family”
“They’re less dangerous than you”
“Since when you answer me back”
“Since I'm not scared of you anymore”
“Is that so?” he smiled.
“Let him go”
“never” I could see something move behind him. It was Pope. It was about to burst out of the room and kill him, at least I thought I was about to do that. But instead, he walked slowly outside.
“Put the gun down” he simply said.
“Like I would” my father responded, not even looking at him. Then I heard something behind me. I quickly turned around, to see the last guard who was holding Craig I think, try to shoot Pope. But Craig stopped him, not he was holding him. Deran was injured and couldn’t move. Before I could think, I pulled out the gun I had on my back, and pointed it to my father.
“I said let him go” I had tears in my eyes.
“You won’t pull the trigger”
“You really think I can’t do it?
“You don’t have the guts to do it, just like your mom never did” It took a few seconds to realise what he just said.
“What did you just say?”
“You really heard me. You really think she had a heart attack that led to a car accident?”
“Y-You killed her?” I was shaking, the tears were running down on my face. I could see that J was getting more and more upset. Suddenly, J hit my father and before he could shoot, I shot him. I don’t know where I hit him but he fell to the ground. J ran to me.
“You okay?” He asked me. I was shocked. Tears were still running down my face, not because for what I’ve done, but for what I just did. I finally looked at J who was concerned.
“He deserved it”
“he did” we looked at each other for a second.
“I’m sorry”
“Don’t be, you’re going to be okay” he smiled then hugged me. I held him tight. I could see Pope checking on him. Deran finally got up and joined him. Craig was taking care of the last guard.
“Did he hurt you?” I asked him. He had blood everywhere on his face
“I’ll be fine, don’t worry”
“We need to check the house” Pope said.
“You stay here” said J, before leaving with Pope and Deran inside. I walked towards my father. I simply looked at him, then suddenly he coughed. I pointed my gun at him. He just laughed.
“I-I really didn’t t-think you could do it”
“After everything you did, that’s the only thing that matters?”
“Y-Yes, because n-now, I know that you’re t-tr-truly my daughter”
“I could have been if you acted like a father. I hope you’ll rot in hell, like you deserve it” I said, very angry. He seemed surprised by what I said. I was about to shoot him again, but blood ran from his eyes, he choked for a few seconds then he finally died.
“the house is clear” said J as he stepped outside the kitchen, followed by Pope.
“what do we do about him?” Asked Craig, still holding tight the last guard.
“I’ll take care of him” said Pope. J walked towards me.
“You did what you had to do” I looked at him.
“I know. It’s just- I thought it would devastate me, but- I don’t feel a thing”
“It’s because you knew he deserved it” I simply nodded. Deran and Craig went inside to take care of Deran’s injuries, Pope and J put the bodies in a truck, Pope then left, and J and I started cleaning the house.
After we finished cleaning, I sat outside for a minute. The sun was rising, the day was starting as if nothing happened. I could see through the window that Craig was going to bed. I turned my face towards the kitchen when Deran stepped out with two beers.
“You want one?”
“no thank you”
“I’ll take it” J said as he arrived behind him. “Are you okay?” Asked J to Deran.
“It hurts but I’ll be fine”
“I’m sorry” I said.
“It’s not your fault”
“Kind of, we’re in this situation because of me”
“It was not because of you y/n” said J.
“Whatever, it’s over now, you can rest, we can all rest” finally said Deran as he laid down on a sun lounger. J and I looked at each other.
“I think I’m going to bed, if I can sleep” I said. “Thank you guys, for everything” then I left.
I was trying to fall asleep, but I couldn’t help and think of what happened tonight again. I heard the door open.
“I knew you wouldn’t be sleeping”
“I can’t get it off my head”
“It’s normal” J got undressed and joined me in bed. “But now, you can finally rest, and sleep, I’m here, I’ll always be here to protect you.” I looked at him then kissed him.
“Thank you” you laid on his chest, and finally fell asleep, really knowing that nothing would happen to you.

“You Used To Love Me” Michael Gray Fan Fiction - Chapter 10
A/N: Alright this one broke and mended my heart all at once while I was writing it - goddamn these characters hahahahaha.
WARNINGS: Swearing, Violence, Guns, Death, Alcohol -
I know I’ve used swear words in previous chapters but this one is quite heavily riddled with it, I also thought I’d warn that there are mentions of death in this one my loves - it’s nothing too full on and I don’t go into heavy descriptions but I just felt like this one needed a warning just incase x
As always, please enjoy xx
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As the alarm goes off, Charlie and I both jolt awake in bed. It only takes a few moments to realise that it’s almost half an hour past when we were supposed to be up.
“Fuck!” He shouts as he jumps out of the bed, ripping the sheets back. He’s going on a work trip this weekend with his brother, and if the time on the clock is correct, then the car should be pulling up any moment.
I tear myself out of the bed after him, frantically running around with him to help him get ready.
“Charlie your suit case is in here!” I call as I hear him fumbling around my apartment for his luggage. He runs back into the room, tearing through the cupboards for his suit.
He strips naked right in front of me, and I can’t help but laugh at how much of a mess this is as I try and help him get his suit on.
“He’s gonna kill me if I’m late” he stresses, his hands desperately trying to do up his buttons but he fails. This is a big weekend for their business. If he’s late or messes his up, I know how horrible he will feel about it for a long time.
“Hey, just breathe okay, let me do this” I coo, swatting his hands away as I do his buttons up for him.
He nods, closing his eyes and drawing in a deep breath. Once his shirt is buttoned up he takes off again, scurrying around gathering all his paper work, luggage and some how wriggling his shoes on. We both jump in fright as the beeping of a horn below signals that his car is here.
Swearing repeatedly, he runs to the door, but freezes right before he walks out. “I’m sorry, I’m so sorry” he breathes, turning back to me with a shaking his head.
“Stop, it’s okay” I promise him, my hands on his chest as I straighten his tie and jacket “You’re gonna be amazing”
With a relieved smile, he presses his lips against mine. I hold his face, trying to soak up as much of him as I can.
“I’ll miss you, don’t get in any trouble while I’m gone eh?”
“Me?” I furrow my brows “I have no idea what you’re talking about”
He laughs, pulling me in for another kiss.
“Okay, okay you have to go” I chuckle as the car horn continues to beep downstairs. He gives me a few last pecks and before I know it he’s gone, running down the hallway, leaving me flustered in his wake.
I run over to the window, watching as he gets in the car and gives me one last wave. I return the gesture, blowing him a kiss that he pretends to catch as the car pulls away and disappears from my sight.
Slinking back through my apartment I collapse lazily back into my bed, arms and legs flailed in every direction as I fall back asleep.
LATER THAT AFTERNOON
“Hello?”
“Hi you”
I smile as Charlie’s voice speaks like honey through the phone line.
“Miss me already?” I tease.
“Most definitely” he replies, when suddenly the sound of excitement and hollering fills the phone.
“The deal went well then?” I chuckle at his excitement.
“The deal went… incredibly,” he begins, trying to speak over the mens in the background “Actually, we made an ever bigger deal than we originally planned on… they want to financially support the entire business, Izzy”
“Oh my god, Charlie, that’s amazing!” I exclaim
“I was gonna wait to tell you when I got home but… Izzy I think we’re going to move up here”
My jaw drops as I press the phone closer to my ear to make sure I heard him right. When I don’t reply, he begins to fill in the blanks eagerly.
“They want us to move up here Izzy, they want to support us and the whole business-“
The weight of what he’s actually saying begins to wash over me as a million questions leap and bound through my mind.
“Charlie-“ I stutter “You’ve been there for 5 hours” I blurt out, glancing at the clock. 5 hours. That’s barely enough time to decide you want to move 3 hours away. Permanently.
“I know, I know, but we just made the biggest deal of our lives… I’ve gotta follow this Izzy”
“Oh my god” I breathe, trying to sound excited but doing an absolutely horrid job of hiding my shock.
“That’s not why I wanted to call you though, I think I have a proposition for you” I hold my breath. So far, I couldn’t have predicted this conversation even if I tried. I have no idea what is about to come out of his mouth.
“Well you see, I told him I wasn’t moving up here unless they set us up with a proper home because…” He takes a deep breath before blurting out his next words “I want you to come with me, Izzy”
The second the words leave his mouth I freeze. Go with him. Did he just ask me to move away with him? Move three hours away? Away from my home. The place I grew up. Away from my job. Away from the Shelby’s.
“Izzy? Izzy are you there? What do you think?” I hear his muffled voice asking through the phone as I snap back into reality. Heat rises up my neck and over my face as I fumble for my words.
“What do I think?” I echo his words. I don’t know what I think. Actually, I’m thinking way to much.
“I know it’s a lot. You don’t have to pack your bags right now. I’ll tell you all about it when I get home”
Pack my bags?
My breath quickens as do my racing thoughts and heart rate.
“Okay, I have to go!” he rushes quickly as the shouting and hollering behind him gets louder, urging him to go and join the celebrations.
And just like that, the phone line goes silent. I stand in the lurch for minute after minute trying to digest what just happened. I fumble for a chair,  trying to steady myself as I sit down. The whole conversation was such a rush and a whirlwind that I feel physically light headed.
We’ve only been together for a month.
But if I don’t move away with him, is that the end of us? We would hardly be able to visit one another during the week. And even weekends aren’t always free. Between both of our work schedules, how would we ever make time. Three hours away. That’s no short trip. If anything happened back here, I wouldn’t be able to get back in a hurry. What if Tommy got into trouble? And Arthur? What if Polly needed me? And then the most regretful, dreaded thought crosses my mind. What about Michael?
I feel physically ill. I can’t move. I can’t do this. The phone that’s rested in my lap begins to ring obnoxiously, frightening me so badly I almost throw it clean across the room. Maybe I should. Maybe I should break the goddamn thing.
“Shit” I hiss, running a hand through my hair as my heart pounds so hard it feels like it might just jump straight out of my chest.
I yank the phone towards my ear, completely exhausted and flustered.
“Izzy? Darling it’s Polly”
I sigh, trying to calm myself down enough to sound somewhat normal and coherent.
“Hi Poll, what’s up?”
“Look don’t panic, we just need you to come down here okay”
The tight nervousness of her voice snaps me straight out of my cloudy, foggy state.
“Polly what’s going on?” I reply urgently, standing up from my chair in a panic.
“It’s alright. Just come down to the office okay? We’ve got a client here and-” she pauses as voices in the background get louder and I strain desperately to hear who is there “We just need you to go over some things”
“I’m coming now” I hang up the phone immediately.
Something isn’t right.
I race out the door without my coat, my hand bag, anything. I don’t even bother trying to be subtle as I run through the streets, tearing my way through people and around corners until I see the office ahead. As I get closer the fear in the pit of my stomach grows bigger and bigger.
Polly never sounds like that. What the hell is going on. What am I about to find inside.
The sound of sudden shouting from inside sends a crashing wave of fear and adrenaline through me as I burst into the office through the back door. What I find when I walk in sends my stomach into back flips. I freeze, almost tripping over my own feet from stopping to abruptly.
All heads shoot towards me. Tommy, Arthur, Polly and Michael. They look terrified, there eyes wide with panic as they’re stood at the edges of the room, their backs practically up against the walls. And it doesn’t take me long to figure out why. My eye’s immediately fall over a man stood in the middle of the room.
He’s standing amidst the office desks which have been flipped and smashed all over the floor. Paper is thrown everywhere. I would call him a stranger, but he’s not. I know this man. We all know this man. He is a client. Bill Rodgers.
I have seen him a few times. Met with him. Met his wife and children. He pays donations to us once a month, in return, we look after his family if they ever need anything. A simple agreement. We do that for a lot of families around here. He’s never been overly warm. But friendly enough. And I don’t know him incredibly well. But it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realise there is something wrong. Besides the fact that the office is a mess. With chairs, desks and tables scattered across the room. Paper work everywhere. Bill stands in the middle of it all.
His doing I assume.
And he is completely wasted. I can smell it on him. All the way from the door way, my nose catches the distinct smell of whiskey. It almost fills the room. You have to drink bottles of whiskey, or spend days on end inside of a pub to smell like that. Even the way he stands, head to the floor, grumbling, swaying. Muttering to himself. But that’s not even the most concerning thing. No. The most concerning thing about Mr Rodgers is not his drunken stupor.
But the pistol that he is clutching in his hand.
I swallow hard when I see it. I glance to the floor, where I realise they have placed all of their guns.
He must have demanded them to drop their guns.
What I cannot figure out, about Bill, is what the hell he wants. He has never caused any trouble. Never gotten in trouble with the law. Never betrayed us. What the hell is doing here in a drunken rage with a gun?
“Bill,” Tommy begins, his arms outstretched to him “This is Isabelle”
I glance nervously at Tommy as he signals for me to come over to stand beside him. I rush over to his side, and he steps in front of me ever so slightly.  Bill looks up at me gravely, through the disheveled hair falling in his face.  I try to hold his eyes, staying calm and gentle. In his state, anything could set him off.
“And what is she gonna do about it huh?” He growls “They’re dead Tommy”
“Bill-“
“No, Tommy” he shouts “I pay you donations every month, yeah, and you look after my family in return. BUT THEY’RE GONE! THEY’RE GONE TOMMY!” His voice grows louder as he waves his arms in the air, and we all take a few steps back as we watch the pistol in his clutch nervously.
Tommy opens his mouth to speak, but I beat him to it.
“Bill,” I say gently and he shoots his eyes in my direction “Just tell me what happened, and I can help you. Whatever you need. But I have to know how to help you first”
He stares at me, reluctantly, angrily, before something seems to give.
“They’re dead” He breathes “Sarah, and my boys. I was out, and the house was robbed. They stole everything and killed my fucking family”
My heart drops. He lost his family. All of them. This man is hurting. He is in pain.  We are supposed to provide protection. His house being robbed is something none of us could have prevented, or helped, but he has just lost his entire family, and he’s looking for someone to blame.
I can’t believe my own actions when I find myself walking slowly towards him. I feel everyone in the room tense, as I do. This man may normally be harmless, but right now he is intoxicated and armed. And I’m walking straight into it.
“Izzy, don’t” I hear Tommy’s voice hiss so silently I almost miss it. But I ignore him.
“Bill, we can help you okay” I take another slow, weary step towards him treading so lightly I barely make a sound “We can find the men who did this, but I just need you to put your gun down for me”
He sways, seeming to lose his stability. The whiskey coursing through him right now must be making him see double.
Suddenly he bursts into sobs, and I almost jump out of my skin. He sinks to the floor, falling among the debris in a pile of sobs and cries.
Keeping my eyes firmly glued on the gun, I lower myself to his level.
“No one can help me” he whimpers in between cries.
“We can help you, I promise” I breathe, the stench of whiskey slapping me in the face and burning my nostrils as I shuffle closer and closer. I’m only inches away from him. Close enough to reach out and take the gun from his lose grip. With one head in his hands, and the other hanging by his side, he’s so distraught I don’t even think he would notice.
I hear feet shuffling around me, as they all begin to reach for their guns just incase.
I hold my breath, praying over and over again silently to myself as I extend my arm. My hand shaking as I close in on the pistol.
But the second my skin touches his, my hand brushing the pistol ever so slightly as I almost grab a hold of it, it sets him off like a match igniting a bomb.  His giant stature lurches upwards as he roars with rage. Happening all to fast for me to comprehend, or even try to escape, he shoves me with a brute force that I’ve never felt before. He pummels me, bashing me up against the wall, the back of my head colliding with it so loudly against it that I think I black out momentarily as everything goes white. My ears, are ringing, piercing and loud and I only just begin to comprehend what’s happening when I feel his hands around my throat.
His forehead is pressed roughly against mine, his thick breath hot and drenched in pungent alcohol as his chest rises and falls heavily. I grab at his hands, clawing desperately to try and pry them off as his grip tightens. He shakes me like a rag doll, shoving me so harshly into the wall that I’m just waiting for it to give way. He stares at me with rage, with ferocity that I have never seen before. Frozen, paralysed in fear, all I can do is stare back into them.
The sound of gun chambers cocking all around us catches his attention, and suddenly I’m being pulled away from the wall. He spins me around, and the blow to my head as well as lack of oxygen disorients me completely. It’s not until I feel the burning of cold metal against my temple that I come back to my senses. Bill is stood behind me, one arm around my chest to keep me still, my back pressed against him. The other hand, is pressing the barrel of his pistol against the side of my skull.
I stiffen immediately, not even breathing as he faces me towards the Tommy, Arthur, Polly and Michael, who all have their guns aimed at him.
“PUT THE FUCKING GUNS DOWN OR I’LL BLOW HER BRAINS OUT ALL OVER THESE WALLS” He screams at them, his booming voice almost defeating me in one ear as he presses the pistol harder against my head.
Tommy, Polly and Arthur drops their guns to the floor immediately.
But Michael doesn’t budge.
Our eyes lock, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen him so terrified. He is completely pale, all the blood drained from his face as he aims the gun at Bill’s head.
“Just put the gun down” I whimper, and he shakes his head frantically, refusing to.
“Let go of her” he growls through clenched teeth, his voice cracking and shaking.
My ears prick as Bill cocks the gun, the chamber clicking.
“An eye for an eye huh,” Bill breathes, beginning to sob again “I fucking kill her and then we’re even for you not protecting my fucking boys”
“Bill let her go” Tommy warms, holding his arms out to him “We are going to find the men that did this and when we do, they are going to get what they deserve. But this…” she shakes his head “This isn’t the answer”
My eyes dart from Tommy back to Michael, who has not moved an inch, gun still aimed.
“I TOLD YOU TO PUT THAT FUCKING GUN DOWN” Bill shouts at Michael, completely ignoring Tommy’s words.
“Michael” I plead desperately, dread washing over me so heavily that I feel ill. I watch as he shakes his head, refusing. His wide open, panic strike eyes have turned glassy, and I can feel tears stinging and biting at my own eyes.
“It’s okay,” I breathe, giving him the smallest nod I can manage with the pistol against my head “Just put it down”
His eyes flicker between me and Bill, and I have to fight to not release a harsh exhale of relief as he lowers his gun to the ground.
“There you go Bill, all the guns are down, now let us talk to you eh?” Tommy negotiates, trying to sound as calm and gentle as he can. But I can see his palpating jaw. His tense body. The veins in his neck bulging from holding his breath. He is the furthest thing from calm.
For a moment I feel Bill’s grip loosen, and in my peripheral I can see the pistol fall away from my head as his arms falls to his side.
He’s letting his guard down.
I shut my eyes, taking a shaky breath in through my nose.
“You’re going to find them” he growls his orders at Tommy “And when you find them, I’m going to kill them”
“Bill…” Tommy shakes his head, trying to be as polite as possible “Bill I can’t let you do that. If you kill them, they’ll only send you to jail… just let us take care of it-“
“TAKE CARE OF IT!” He screams, and I can’t help a whimper from escaping my mouth “YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO TAKE CARE OF MY FAMILY. BUT YOU DIDN’T-“
Tommy opens his mouth, to try and say anything that will calm him, appease him. But once bill has been set off, there is no taming the fire that is his rage. I should have known. There is no reasoning with a drunk man.
With a grieving man.
“No, no, this is your fault” I feel him nodding his head behind me as he points the gun at all of them “This is your fault, and you’re the ones who are going to fucking pay. YOU’RE ALL GOING TO FUCKING PAY”
His cry is the one of a final war cry, and I know what’s coming next.
The next moments of my life feel like they are in slow motion. Suddenly the barrel of the gun is pressed straight up against my head again as he shoves it against my temple. The last thing I see is Tommy, Polly, and Arthur lunging forward, all shouting and begging for Bill to stop before it’s to late.
This is it.  This is the last thing I’m going to hear.  The last thing I’m going to feel is the end of a pistol pressed again my skull, before I feel nothing at all. Please let it be painless.
A single gun shot fires into the atmosphere.
I expect nothingness. More black. Maybe heaven. Or hell. Though I’m not ever sure if I believed in God.
But I feel myself breathing, my chest still rising and falling. I hadn’t even realised I had squeezed my eyes shut when they shoot open to find myself still in the office.
I’m alive.
The first thing I see is Michael. His gun aimed not at me, but at where Bill had been standing.
It wasn’t Bill’s gun that fired. It was Michael’s.
Bill is dead.
Everything washes over me all at once. Relief. Horror. Fear. Adrenaline. My head is pounding, and entire body feels like I’m floating. Completely weak and empty. Not strong enough to stand, and having lost all feeling in my body, I feel myself collapsing to the floor.
Right before I hit the ground, I find myself falling right into a pair of arms. All noise is muffled, and I feel completely numb as I almost completely pass out for a moment. The only thing I can hear is the throbbing and pounding of my head. It’s not until I come back around moments later that I realise whose arms I’m in.
They’re familiar arms. Strong. Firm. I’ve felt this exact grip before. They way the seem to hold me together. I thought I had forgotten how they felt. But I still know them anywhere.
Michael.
He scoops me up with desperation, and I don’t know who is clinging on to who as he holds onto me like its his life that depends on it. The only thing stopping me from crashing to the floor is him. His arms has envelope me completely, engulfing me in like a safety net. Wrapping me up in a way that I’ve only ever experienced with Michael.
My body and mind still completely disoriented, I find myself only being able to cry. That’s the only thing that comes out. With my face buried in his chest, he holds the back of my head, pressing me so close to him I can barely even breath. But I don’t care. I’m alive.
“You’re okay, you’re okay, I’ve got you” He chants frantically against my ear, and I can’t tell who he is trying to calm down more. Me or himself.
Beneath his chest, I can hear his heart racing. It pounds loudly against my ear. His grip on me never lets up, he doesn’t budge whatsoever. He just holds me. Let’s me sob, staining through his shirt. Everything else fades out. Everything seems to go away. Not just Bill’s attack. It’s like the last few months haven’t even happened. Nothing else matters right now except for the fact that I’m in his arms.
I feel a pair of trembling hands on my face and when I look up I find my eyes opening into Michael’s. His eyes are wide, panic filled and pooling with tears. As we stare at one another, it’s almost like he can’t quite believe I’m in his arms right now. Even though it’s over now, he still has residue terror all over his face. I know he thought that he was about to lose me for good. Forever.
Up until now I’ve barely been able to take a full breath or even begin to stop hyperventilating. But something about the hold his eyes have on me begins to centre me. I feel myself being grounded. Like I’m coming back to my surroundings. Those serene blue eyes give me something to anchor to as the panic slowly but surely leaves my system.
Without even meaning to we find our foreheads pressed to each others, his grip on my face still firm.
“Look at me” his voice is barely a whisper, as it shakes, threatening to break completely “You’re safe”
Pulling me back into a hug, he grips onto me so tightly as if I’m going to disappear if he doesn’t. And I don’t want him to let go, because I feel like I might just break and crumble if I don’t have him holding all my pieces together.

I am scared..I am scared that if J*ey or J*skier confirm that they are gay that I will be sent hate mail/death threats for being in love with an actor/fictional character who’s gay when I’m a cis straight female..I fear that because I have seen it happen to a friend when a fictional character/actor she loved was confirmed to be gay, she was always getting death threats, and I’m scared it will happen to be with my crush on J*skier/J*ey (I am not homophobic btw before people send me hate messages)
Oh babe. I’m not trying to be mean, I want to support you! But I’m just unsure why you or your friend would receive hate for this. Jaskier is fictional and Joey is an actor.
I personally can relate to loving a gay actor. Cody Fern is gay and I fucking love that man. I’m not even afraid to admit it. I will sing about it all day long😂
Babe, if Joey confirms his sexuality, it’s okay to have a crush on him. He’s a celebrity. You, as a human being, are allowed to love him and enjoy his work and all of that good stuff that comes with being a fan of such an incredibly talented artist. Sexuality doesn’t matter. It’s just a part of who he is. It doesn’t define him and it doesn’t define you as a fan of him and his work, babe.
You’ve got to be comfortable enough with your own sexuality as a straight person to be okay with crushing on a gay man. That’s what it comes down to in my opinion, babe. People are gonna say what they want to because people are shitty but you’ve just got to know who you are and not take that shit.

The Whole Marvelous Super Ultra Cosmic Magical Comic Book Universe
The produce of imagination and business that was Marvel Comics was a synchronic harmony sounded by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko and every one of the creators and craftsmen and inkers and colorists who worked there. Everything began during the mid 1960's the point at which the Fantastic Four and Spider-man and the X-men (The Uncanny X-Men) were framed from the creative mind of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.
X-men was a film industry crush the previous summer. I'm certain you additionally recall the profoundly effective Hulk TV show.
The most punctual X-men comprised of Jean (Marvel Girl) Gray (who later turned into the amazingly well known Phoenix), Professor X (Xavier), Cyclops (Scott Summers), the insightful Beast (Hank McCoy), and Iceman (Bobbie). Freaks brought into the world with exceptional "super-freak" capacities.
Later came the New Mutants with more youthful characters having freak controls that occasionally appeared to have them (the main sort of comic book story I don't care for).
These characters from X-men including (Nightcrawler, Wolverine, Storm, Banshee, Kitty) advanced with the appearance of the imagination of John Byrne (beginning in issue #108 of X-men) and Chris Claremont (Giant Sized X-men #1 and Uncanny X-men #94 now esteemed at $500. up in "mint" condition. The most famous person was the principle star in the X-men film- - Wolverine. There makes certain to be a continuation for this film industry crush.
X-men Comics instructed kids that bias is shrewd. Individuals who live in dread and in this way eagerness attempt to annihilate what they don't comprehend.
Fascinating that both the latest Star Wars film and X-men film truly investigated lawmakers (Congress). In the event that force undermines totally is it conceivable our framework is totally bad? The Senator in the X-men film took in his example somewhat late.
Insect man- - the new Marvel film in progress - is about a typical young child anxiety (menaces thumping him, not getting any darlings, skin break out, etc is gentle stuff contrasted with the present school encounters -, for example, not having chance and killed while going to or going to the everyday schedule lured by a destructive medication or tainted by a stellar infection) is only nibbled by a radioactive bug (revolutionary stuff for the mid 1960's).
This gives Peter Parker super powers- - creepy crawly controls - whenever intensified a man could lift a truck and convey it 20 miles as insects do. (Try not to get me going discussing Henry Pym the Antman who became Giant Man in the Marvel's Avengers ((Capt. America, Thor the Thunder God etc.))). Add to that Peter Parker was likewise a splendid understudy who had the option to concoct a web shooter and other extraordinary innovations. What's more, Spider-man was brought into the world as a bi-result of the bi-item known as radioactive material (which Science actually doesn't have the foggiest idea how to dispose of). (Take a stab at telling that to the Bush organization). Everything is energy! Recall Tesla curls.
However, Marvel was not by any means the only spot strutting superpowered characters.
D.C. Funnies (Time Warner), as well, used folklore and accounts of Biblical extents to entrain, invigorate and energize ages of youngsters, children and grown-ups from the 1940's to introduce.
A few characters like Superman, Atom, Flash, Batman, Green Lantern, JLA and others and even D.C's. adaptation of Capt. Wonder might have been propelled by profound writing which recounted Hindu Gods and Goddesses and surprisingly Biblical personages who could remain in fire and so forth
Contents and Wit
Superheroes: starting through human creative mind and from writing, folklore, religion.
Tumblr media
However most likely comic makers just made up their wondrous stories.
When I talked with Gerry Conway for the Comics Journal he conceded to me that he had investigated a portion of the funnies he composed. Conway's companion accomplice Roy Thomas no question investigated Conan and Thor and other material while author and supervisor at Marvel. They cooperated on the incredible enlivened Fire and Ice film. (Ralph Bakshi/Frank Frazetta).
Also, at first Thomas got the Conan property over to Marvel from Edgar Rice Burroughs in Tarzana, CA. (Tarzana- - Tarzan...get it? That's right, it also is a comic.)
More seasoned society know and love the endless Films and TV shows and serials highlighting these and other most loved brilliant characters: Buck Rogers, Flash Gordon, Commander Cody (which might have enlivened the Rocketeer comic and film).
COMIC BOOKS - Born by the sheer exhurberance of the actual Universe through the vehicle of the Human Being!
The Comic Industry is an analogy forever. An inestimable dramatization unfurling. In any case, not to place old wine into new containers: Many occasions in the past Marvel and D.C. have joined to do specials that helps the play of imagination. I initially met Stan Lee while I was the administrator of a Comic Book Store in Studio City, California in the 1970's.
Or then again, more precisely, I met him through his works at Marvel Comics - his exceptional contents and mind in 1961.
Exceptionally astute association with the fans through clubs and letter sections in bygone times caused one to feel like one was a piece of something. With Merry Marvel "we had a place."
Stan Lee's accounts contained genuine person's, finished with issues and the start of incredible groundbreaking thoughts and standards for carrying on with a decent life.
As when Spider-man didn't stop a Burglar - a similar Burglar who later killed his caring Uncle- - Peter Parker (Spider-man) got the message - serve humankind. With extraordinary force comes liability.
Furthermore, obligation is the capacity to react.
Energizing anecdotal stories loaded with experience and energy with ethics. Outlined lavishly.
Wonder Super characters were at first looked on by society as trouble makers. Even subsequent to saving human butt large number of times.
J. Jonah Jameson (modest Editor of the Daily Bugle paper) has abhorred Spider-person for more than 30 years. Jameson really attempted to annihilate Spider-man by turning into a super reprobate.
Adrenaline junkie (blind Attorney yet Batman-esque in capacities and actual strength and spryness - however with uplifted faculties) the Man unafraid was regularly marked a scalawag too from the start.
Similar to the always well known Incredible Hulk - first deified as a comic book during the 1960's. Who went from dull and idiotic to approach virtuoso relying upon the decade where this suffering person is perused.
What we dread we regularly view as shrewd.
Funnies have attempted to instruct us that the means are pretty much as significant as the finishes they produce.
What we do en route decides the outcome we will get. Funnies are distributed in light of the fact that a word sounds great to the distributer. However, a portion of these new youthful free distributers need to find out about the significance inside these words (thus do their clients). However, more capacity to these ambitious youths.
What is Yoga, Meditation, Tai Chi, Mantra? What is Zen? (One youthful upstart distributer of "Harmony - intergalactic Ninja" had never known about Alan Watts - incredible advertiser of Zen until I let him know Alan Watts was a renowned and famous scholar turned maverick Philosopher and Author (one of many) liable for acquainting Eastern Religions with the profoundly starved West- - frequently heard on KPFK radio. Alan Watts is potentially the chief advertiser of Zen. Watts' book " The Wisdom of Insecurity," specifies, for goodness' sake, Comic Books. What are Chakras? The Tao implies what? When children grow up and find out with regards to Meditation will they be spoiled by our ineptitude and insatiability?
Trendy expressions ordinarily lower cognizance and create turmoil. Obviously when I use to distribute stuff as a young person I made up names that sounded great however had almost no significance, for example, Beyond Infinity, مانجا لاند, Eon the Magazine of Graphic Illusions. I know less now than I did then, at that point. What is make, craftsmanship, Love, Truth?
I held a few signature parties with Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in the 1970's and 1980's. I tossed more than 50 effective signature parties with numerous awesome comic book specialists and authors. I'd have the occasion, give rewards, do all the publicizing, realistic workmanship, official statements, and so forth It was an invigorating encounter. It was enjoyable to cooperate with professionals and fans. I parted with a ton of free promotion stuff.
10th Nebula's first signature party was held with Stan Lee, distributer of Marvel Comics. For a considerable length of time my shop suffered in North Hollywood, CA nearby to the world's most seasoned Science Fiction Club (an inherent crowd of companions and fans and PC monsters).
The Stan Lee occasion evoked long queues of Comic Book devotees of any age slobbering for Stan's mark on the sprinkle page of their old and new funnies. These days experts sign funnies on the front of their title en mass which I don't support. (Yet, who pays attention to me).
Funnies structures are frequently manhandled by hopeful youthful distributers who utilize a few pointless full page sprinkles when the impact could be accomplished in a minuscule board - misuse of cash, ink and paper if you were to ask me. Not at all like bygone times when Steve Ditko gave us our best possible value as around 6 boards for each page - he in his manner resembled a Zen Master - the accuracy of his work matched the craft of Chinese Calligraphy (see his one of a kind style in old Atlas Comics from the 1950's). A portion of the new experimentation's by Frank Miller and different gifts have all accomplished outstandingly imaginative work as well.

Hey Fishy! For the fanfic asks, E, J, and L?
Hello my favorite gryphon! How nice of you to stop by! I hope the snek babies are doing well this fine evening.
E: What character do you identify with most?  Is there a certain fic of yours that captures these qualities particularly well?
Hmmm... There is a part of me that really heavily identifies with Obi-Wan and what he went through in Phantom Menace in that whole “This mentor who I’ve looked up to and admired and trusted just kind of threw me under the bus for a super-powered nine year old with a bowl cut and I’m kind of salty about it”. I have been experienced those moments and... they hurt but you have to move on because sometimes the people who are supposed to guide you and help you on your way turn out to be shitty at their job and you just have to levitate yourself out of a plasma cooling shaft and cut your problems in half.
But I, unlike Obi-Wan, do not have a nifty laser sword so I’ll just have to settle for writing about them instead.
But I am also an utter garbage fire at the same time so there is a part of me that also identifies with Anakin “I HAVE ALL THE EMOTIONS ALL THE TIME AND I DON’T WANT THEM BUT I CAN’T GET RID OF THEM AND EVERYONE IS AMAZING AND I’M SHIT AND OBI-WAN LEFT ME ALONE IN A ROOM AND NOW EVERYTHING’S ON FIRE AND I MIGHT HAVE COMMITTED SOME LIGHT TREASON AND/OR A WAR CRIME OR TWO” Skywalker. (And it goes without saying that I have not committed any war crimes... to my knowledge. >___>)
Although unlike Anakin, I am very good at take naps, so there’s that.
I think the character in my fics that best captures at least my current state of affairs is Padawan Kenobi from Tano and Kenobi because he has a delightful mixture of anxiety, low self esteem (Ahsoka is trying, y’all. She is try so hard and Obi-Wan is just digging his heels in.) and very much wants to help all the people all the time and would really just like Qui-Gon to go away so he can read his Star Wars AU fan fiction in peace thank you very much.
Also, just like me, Padawan Kenobi is a serial overpacker and will read everything and promptly bring it up at the slightest provocation when talking to anyone. If I could get this precious space peanut to meet Echo the two would never stop talking about cool things they’ve read.
J:  What’s your favorite fanfic trope?  Have you written it?
Uhmm... I’m not sure I have a favorite fanfic trope but I love me some hurt/comfort and sexy shared dreams. And hidden identities. OH! And mutual pining and slow burn and friends-to-mutual-idiots-to-lovers! Boy howdy do I LOVE me some mutual pining and the best efforts of their friends to try and get them together. And by friends and I mean Fives and the rest of Torrent Company because Cody told Ghost Company to stay out of their general’s business.
Eh-hem. I’m sorry. I got lost. What was I talking about? Tropes in my fics?
Some of these things are on tap for upcoming chapters in After the End and We Three definitely has some mutual pining going on (And, no, it’s not Arulas and Satine. That’s more like respectful adoration from afar and then dedicated and worshipful wooing when the Duchess makes it clear she would welcome his advances.)
I have written stuff with those tropes but a lot of it hasn’t been posted because... *gestures vaguely* reasons. But should I ever finish Captain Shiny and decide to post that it’s going to have literally every trope I listed in it AND NO ONE CAN STOP ME. I mean, Lily could stop me but other than her NO ONE CAN STOP ME EXCEPT FOR ME AND MY ANXIETY
L:  Which of your fanfics was the most emotionally challenging to write?
Ooof! Way to lull me into a false sense of fluffiness and then blam! Angst! ;D
Tano and Kenobi Season Three because I wrote the bulk of that while Lily and I were going through the diagnosis and early stages of understanding her epilepsy diagnosis. It was a heavy, hard season in general and I was really just starting to understand my own mental health issues so... It was hard. It had to happen in order to tell the story I wanted to tell but... that didn’t make it any easier to tell. The only person who missed Ahsoka more than my readers was me.
Thanks for stopping by Glare! And everybody else make sure you go read their amazing works HERE!

tag games, ftw
I was tagged by both @rampagewriting and @heelsamizayn to answer this and it seems like a fun time and my brain’s being a bag of dicks rn, so whhhhy not... Here we go.
0) Name/Nickname? If ya wanna share it.
Ashley, AA, Snark - mostly on here. Oh and lil bit, but... family only.
1) If you could bring any two fictional characters (from books or film/tv) into the same world who would they be, what world would you put them in, and what would their relationship to each other be?
Uhhh... Uhhh... Okay, alright, hm... This is going to be an unconventional answer but.. I’d take Bucky and Cap and I’d drop them right into the middle of The Walking Dead. Hear me out.. They’re both military trained / enhanced superheroes and they can walk that line of having compassion and being totally ruthless if they must. I think it’d be neat. They’d be friends / psuedo brothers, of course.
2) If you could drop yourself into any fictional world from books or film/tv, which would it be?
Oh god, oh noooo.. Every part of the fifteen year old trapped within my old woman body is screaming at me to answer Harry Potter -cos magic.. But.. I’m going with The Walking Dead. Just for the simple fact that I could smack both Lori and Dale Horvath in the back of the fuckin head.
Alternately.. I’d really wanna hunt vampires with Edgar and Allen Frog, and the eighties were my shit, so.. That too.
3) What’s your spirit animal?
A cat or a raccoon. I have under eye circles, stay up late, eat only junk and I’ll bite if you take my food plus kinda chonky ( raccoon) and I like to take naps, I’m... adamant about cleaning / grooming plus, I like to sit around and give people side eye when they’re doing dumb shit. ( cat.)
4) What is the most unpopular opinion you hold?
NO. NOPE. NOT ANSWERING. ISSA TRAP.
Okay, since I obviously have to put something here, I’ll say it. And I’ll start with wrestling:
Seth Rollins is vastly overrated and I don’t get the whole.. Attraction to him. And the same goes for Cody Rhodes. Also, is it just me or are his fucking intros too long? Idk, maybe that’s me and my lack of patience. If you like either of these, sorry, continue to do you, but.. I’m not a fan and I honestly don’t particularly care about either and this is my own personal opinion. I’m allowed to have one. I’m not saying bad shit about either guy here, if you take it that way, it’s your own damn problem? I’m not telling you not to like them. I’m simply saying I do not.
As far as media goes : Fifty Shades of Gray is fucking dumb. I mean.. 10 page contract.. to get what has to be mediocre dick, at best? And it’s not even written with any regards to true BDSM concepts for the most part? Nah. I’ll pass.
And now, for one about our current situation: I think the idiots who hoarded TP at the beginning of this should be allowed to return things.. Provided it’s unopened, they have a receipt, and they don’t see a fucking dime of the money they spent and that the money from the returns goes to masks / other methods of protection for front line workers or straight into the unemployment packages and the stimulus thing. Like literally, the hoarder gets nothing, people who need TP / sanitizer / etc get UNOPENED NEW PRODUCTS and the front line workers get the proceeds of the voided returns. We all win here. (I realize this probably cannot happen, but. It’s one way to kind of... help this current shit show we’re all trapped in.)
5) How do you like to style your hair most often?
Uhh.. Down. I’m too goddamn lazy to be bothered.
6) I always love this overdone question - you’re allowed three books on a desert island, what do you bring? (Note: Survival Guides don’t count).
The Shining, The Dark Towers series - Stephen King, The Client - John Grisham and The Outsiders - S.E Hinton
7) Something new you’ve learned in quarantine/lockdown/corona times?
That no matter how hard I try, I cannot apply false lashes. That more than two noisy things going in the background is TOO MUCH. Oh and I’m pretty damn good at baking when I bother to try / don’t toss out the directions.
8) Favorite alcohol? (Or non-alcoholic beverage if you don’t drink!)
Haven’t drank in... a while-ish. But my favorite thing to drink when I do is vodka or tequila. Occasionally White Claw ( i know, i know.). Favorite non-alcoholic beverage is water lately.
9) Music you can’t stand? Music you love?
I’m gonna get torn the fuck apart for this but yolo.. I can’t get into K-Pop. I’ve tried. It’s just.. It’s up there with new pop for me. Older boy bands / pop stars? Not a problem. I just don’t like a lot of pop music and I can’t get into K-pop. If you like it, awesome. It’s just not for me personally. Beyond that? I love literally any other kind of music. I have a veeeery varied eclectic listening preference but my all time favorite? 80′s glam / pop or country.
10) Have a favorite herb?
FIRST OF ALL.. GARLIC.. yeah, it’s not a herb buuuut... yeah.. Anyway, for actual herbs..Basil, Rosemary and Sage.. Oh and cilantro. Cilantro will save your ass in a pinch.
11) What kinds of cups/glasses/bottles do you prefer to drink out of?
My big tol cold cup. Or.. my stemless plastic wine glasses, of which I have apparently lost.
12) Preferred mode of communication: texts, phone calls, emails, letters?
Text or email. I’m not... fond of making calls, but I will if I have to. I prefer texts or email. Oh, I do enjoy writing letters now and then.
13) What is your favorite weather?
Not too hot, not too cold. Not too sunny but not overcast and gray either. A light breeze. NO POLLEN.
14) What kind of lighting do you like?
Softer lights, for the aesthetic.. Overhead lighting, so my blind ass can... yannow... see. If I had my way, I’d have candles and string lights every where though.
15) What is the best thing you cook?
Honestly, I feel like it’s my chili or my stew. Alternately, husband seems to ask for chicken / bacon / ranch pasta casserole a lot, so... Idk.. I guess pretty much anything (except fucking hamburger helper, i can NEVER get this shit right, despite directions, sacrifices to the culinary gods and pleas/promises of my first born. It always turns out icky so I never cook it.)
16)  Do you have a favorite font to write in?
Handwriting or typewriter fonts for the most part. Roboto when I’m writing / editing my own fics and such.
17) What is something you’ve always wanted to write in a fic, but you’ve been too afraid to? Or, what is something that you were afraid to write, but then you did and it ended awesome?
Honestly, I’m scared to death to write smut. Which is why I’ve been trying to write more of it lately. I won’t say it’s going awesome ( I’m pretty sure some of you sit and read it when I post and are like what the fuck... this isn’t realistic and this is so bad.) but it’s going.
I’ve wanted to dip my toes into writing for more obscure fandoms too. Like ones that I personally enjoy. As far as something I’ve always wanted to write? Horror. But I’m scared to death I’d fuck it up.
18) If you were in your favorite fantasy world, what would your weapon of choice be?
A sword or a knife. Machete, maybe?
19) Is there a commonly used expression/saying that you can’t stand?
While I agree with the answers J and K put to this “It’s in God’s hands, etc” - sometimes things are GOD AWFUL. The last thing I want to hear is what the reason God had for doing it is. So don’t tell me.
Triggered is a useful term.. if it’s used right. And I’m starting to realize that 95 percent of people DO NOT know the proper use. They think that being triggered =‘s a reason to bitch and tear someone apart over some miniature thing they’ve done. So now, when I hear it being misused, it fucking annoys me.
20) What is something that you would like people to know about you?
I’m a grumpy ball of rage. I’m petty as fuck and saltier than all the oceans combined in the right circumstances. But.. I can be a nice person and I love getting to know people and helping people or talking to them. Even if it’s hard for me to start it off bc I’m fucking awkward as fuck also - hence the reason it takes a while for me to actually... attempt... conversing with new people both IRL and on here.
I’m gonna leave this open to anyone who wants to do it bc Idk who has or hasn’t already and I don’t want to annoy people.
This was a blast!

Rum and Ginger
Genre: Fan Fiction (Animal Kingdom) Pairing: N/A Warnings: N/A Rating: G Length: Drabble Disclaimer: a strict work of fiction, I own nothing except the original characters and the plot line. In no way am I affiliated to any of it.
A/N: FINALLY! I was able to throw together my entry for the Winter Wonderland Writing Challenge that @pixiedustandfairywings and I held. -- Prompt was #31 Ugly Christmas sweaters and too much rum and eggnog
Tumblr media
Pope Cody had never enjoyed Christmas, even as a child Christmas came and went, no enjoyment from Pope. Each year he would sit back and watch his brothers tear through their gifts, never appreciating or caring for what they received.
This year was no different.
Craig would fuck off to do who knows what.
Deran would be working at the bar.
Baz was...well, his Christmas celebrations were long over.
And his nephew J would be hanging around the house, lurking like a thief in the night.
Or so Pope had thought.
The day began like any other Christmas Eve in the Cody house. Smurf woke up to make Pope and J breakfast, Craig stumbled in about an hour later - still stoned, and Deran was...wherever Deran went these days.
Nobody mentioned Christmas. Pope was content to carry on with his day, treating it as any other Monday. Any other Monday it was, until the phone rang around noon.
"Baby, I need you to get a tree and make sure you have presents under it by dinner." Smurf informed her eldest son.
"No." Pope growled his eyes lifeless and cold.
"Maybe you didn't hear me, Andrew?" Smurf sneered. "That was Lena's foster family, they're granting you a courtesy and allowing her to come over for dinner. I want a tree, I want presents, and I want my boys to be here and be merry."
Fucking Smurf. Pope had his doubts about this. He'd taken Lena back, with the intentions that his niece would be better off without her family in the mix. Still, he would do everything he could to giver her a good Christmas.
By 5:30 the house looked as though Santa himself had shit Christmas all over. The outside was brightly decorated, out of place snowmen characters on the green lawn, lights all over the house, and a plastic Santa next to the garage.
Inside was just as colourful and festive. A tree in the living room, the biggest tree that Pope had ever seen. J had brought it back, from where, nobody asked. Lights, wreathes, and even mistletoe were strung around the house.
No Christmas was complete without the food and family togetherness, of course. Food the Cody's could do, the issue was being a normal functioning family for a few hours. Somewhere in the express planning  matching ugly sweaters had shown up. The real joy was how hot and itchy the fucking things were.
"This was a stupid fucking idea." Deran grumbled pouring the dark rum into the glass, swiping the egg nog from the counter top.
"You're the one who bought the fucking things." Craig complained, pulling at the neck of the red and white sweater.
"I was told to make a good impression and be festive, or some shit." Deran defended chugging the egg nog mixture.
"This was the best you could do?" Pope glanced down at the dancing gingerbread men on his matching sweater.
"I'm not the one who asked about the kid coming over." Deran shrugged.
"Nobody asked. Okay." Pope rolled his eyes. "But she's here now, let's at least act like we care."
"I don't think they're all that bad." J shrugged, admiring the battery operated lights that donned the front of the sweaters. "Besides, we only have to wear them while Lena is here."
"Not that bad? How drunk are you?" Craig laughed at J's amusement.
Picking at the little lights placed among the dancing gingerbread, J's focus was lost.
"Hey Craig, what did you put in those cookies?" Deran raised his brow.
"I didn't make those. Smurf did."
"Hey man, you okay?" Craig watched J admire the shiny shit on his sweater. "You have something that you'd like to pass around?"
"You want to know my secret?" J mused.
"I asked, didn't I?" Craig urged.
Leaning in closer to his uncles, J took a deep breath, waiting until the moment was right. "You can never have too much rum and eggnog at Christmas." J declared taking another glass and waltzing to the living room, calling out for Lena to come open presents.

Risking everything - part one
Okay so I guess I finally got some motivation to write the imagine I had in mind for a while now. I even got a bigger idea as I started writing. Hope you’ll like it! As usual I don’t like what I do, so I think it’s shitty.
Warnings: mention of domestic violence
sum: you have a violent father who tries to keep you as close as possible to him, especially since he discovered that you started dating J. He knew about his family, which you didn’t. One night your father has to leave for “business”, but he doesn’t leave you alone, and has paid two guards to stay with you. You got rid of them and you managed to stay at J’s place. But it won’t go as planned.
Tumblr media
_______________________________________________________________________
“I told you once already, you stay away from that boy!” My father yelled. I was currently in the kitchen. My father had heard about me dating Joshua Cody some time ago. He warned me if I stayed with him I didn’t dare say a thing yet.
“I don’t want you to be close to his family, and-”
“I didn’t even meet his family!”
“I DON’T CARE” my father yelled as he step really close to me. I closed my eyes, scared he would touch me again. My heartbeats were going on like crazy, I thought my heart would just burst out of my chest. “you stay away from him, or I’ll make you” I opened my eyes again, meeting with his. I recognised this expression, the one he had when he locked me up in my bedroom for a few days. I was shaking with fear. “Got it?” I nodded. “I need you to say it” he said holding my face, forcing me to look directly at him.
“I got it” he smiled.
“good. now go to your bedroom” I left without saying anything.
I haven’t seen J in a couple days already, and it was killing me. The relationship we had was making this shit so worth it. We’ve been seen each other for a couple months. I was surprised my father didn’t say a thing before, maybe he didn’t know. Whatever. He was now, and I didn’t know how to tell J. I don’t have my phone anymore, nor my tablet. I just had my computer, but it’s controlled.
I was laying in bed, fighting the urge to cry, when I heard footsteps, then the door suddenly opened. It was my father, if I could call him that.
“I have to leave for a while. But I’m not leaving you alone” then two massive guys showed up behind him.
“guards??? seriously???”
“what did you expect?” he smiled. “I can’t let you alone and you know that.” he then left. The two guards stayed still, looking at me. I sat in my bed, not being able to do anything else. Then I heard a car leaving.
Wherever I was going in the house, I had those two guys following me. They were staying so close to me it was so annoying.
“You know I’m not stupid, I’m not going to leave” They didn't say anything. I went to my bedroom. “Can I at least close the door to have intimacy?” They looked at each other. One guard stepped inside, went to check the bathroom and then the windows, then went back in the corridor.
“Don’t lock it. We’re not going anywhere, we’re staying here” I simply closed the door.
“I need to find a way out of here” I whispered. I went to the window.
“too high” then I had an idea.
“SHIT” I said out loud, the door suddenly opened.
“what happened?”
“I- no, nothing, I just remembered that I have this project for tomorrow with my friend”
“then do it”
“didn’t you hear me? I said it was with my FRIEND dumb ass. I need to go to her place so we can finish it”
“no”
“I can’t even talk to her ! I don’t have a phone ! I can’t do anything on my computer ! If I fail this, my father will not be happy about it. And you know who he’ll blame? You guys, because I will tell you that you refused to help me” They didn’t say anything for a moment.
“Fine. But make it quick”
“I’ll need to stay there for the night.”
“No way”
“how do you want us to write an entire essay in just a few hours?” they rolled their eyes.
“you can check my location with my computer and you’ll know what I’ll be doing on it, I won’t go anywhere, I promise”
“Fine”
I finally arrived at my best friend’s place. She knew most of my situation. She wanted to say something to the police and all, but I begged her not to do anything. He is bribing them, so it would come back at us. I rang at the door.
“y/n? What are you doing here?”
“I’ll explain, let me in please” I quickly went to her bedroom. She followed me.
After some time, I finally told her everything.
“that was genius, those guards are dumb as hell”
“tell me about it. Can I use your phone? I need to speak to J” she smiled
“no problemo, you can even tell him to come” I looked at her.
“now you’re the genius one! I wanted to try and sneak out of here”
“very risky, it’s less dangerous if he comes”
“thank you”
half an hour later, I heard knocking on the window. We both turned to see J. I ran to the window to open it. When he was fully inside, I hugged him tightly.
“I missed you so much”
“Me too” he said “where have you been? you weren’t at school today”
“I need to tell you everything J” he was kind of confused.
“I’ll leave you two alone” you best friend said.
For the next twenty minutes J and you were sitting on the bed. You were explaining him everything.
“I can help you y/n”
“J, I appreciate that, but you can’t. He is armed and violent, it’s not a good combination”
“now it’s my turn to tell you the truth”
“huh?”
“Your dad is kind of right to make you stay away from my family”
“What?”
“They- we.. rob places, my grandmother, smurf, she is paying a lot of people, she has an entire business, so when I say we can help, it means we can”
“I don’t know what to say”
“Just say yes. Y/N, you can’t stay in that situation, he locked you up, he beat you, that’s not acceptable. I won’t let that happen to you again.” You smiled. He was so protective over you, and you liked it. You hesitated for a moment. You thought about your past. Yes your dad was a bad person now, but he wasn’t always like that. Before your mom died, he was the opposite.
“yes” J was kind of surprised, but he was happy.
“Okay, we need a plan. To protect you, you need to come with me.”
“I have two guards outside waiting for me” he hesitated “maybe I can go back home, and sneak out, you pick me up and then we’re good.”
“No no, I don’t want you to go back there”
“I know, but we can’t do it here. I don't want to put my best friend in danger. They’ll go after her if something happens here. Plus, I could take my stuff at my place”
“Fine.”
“If I leave now, in an hour you can pick me up, is it okay?”
“okay, I’ll park not to close to your house, but I’ll wait under your window so you can give me your stuff”
“Are we really doing this?” J cupped your face with both of his hands.
“Yes we are” You kissed him passionately. He was doing this all for you. Risking his life, his family, for you. It meant so much.
After explaining everything to your best friend, J left, and you were heading outside too.
“be careful” she said.
“I’ll tell you everything once I’m settled”
“I love you”
“I love you too, and be careful too, they can come asking questions.”
“Don’t worry about me”
I walked towards the car where the guards stayed. I opened the door and sat.
“We can go now”
“I thought you said you were staying the night”
“I know, but we finished early, and I’m not feeling really well” we left.
An hour later, I packed most of my stuff, and was waiting for J to show up. I had kept my window open so I could hear him coming. I was laying on my bed, when I heard footsteps outside. When I went to check, I saw J which made me smile. He made a sign so I could give him my stuff. I grabbed my bags and threw them outside. After he got everything and brought it to the car, he came back, I was about to try to go outside when the guards knocked at my door.
“shit” I whispered. I went back inside and told J to hide. I then went at the door. “Yes?”
“What are you doing?”
“Nothing”
“Why your window is open?”
“Got hot”
“it’s not”
“I didn’t say it was. I say I was”
“Close it”
“I will, now if you’ll let me, I said earlier that I didn’t feel well, so I’m going to bed” I was about to close the door, but the guard stopped me.
“don’t close the door”
“I’m not sleeping knowing you’re at my door watching me”
“closed or not we’ll be here”
“with the door close I won’t see it. And you said it, opened or not, you’ll be here”
“you better not try to do anything”
“good night” I said closing the door. I waited a few minutes, then I closed the window, but I closed it from the outside. After a few minutes and a lot of thinking I was downstairs. I don’t know how I got down but I did.
“You did it” said J, smiling.
“Let’s get out of here before they find out” J took my hand and we ran away.
We finally arrived at his place. I went there a few times, but we were always alone, his family was never around. It meant I was going to meet them. It was past midnight, and no one seemed to be sleeping. We arrived in the kitchen with all my stuff. An old lady was waiting for us, I guessed it was his grandmother.
“Hi baby” she said “how do you feel?”
“good, but I probably think it’s the adrenaline, I'll be panicked in a minute” she laughed.
“don’t worry, you’re safe here”
“are you sure? My dad is very dangerous”
“where do you want me to put those?” a man interrupted us. He was holding two big guns.
“put them on the table with the others” then I saw the rest of it. There were guns every where.
“What is this for?” I said.
“I told you you were safe here” she said “we’re going to protect you” she put her arm around my neck “now you need to rest, go with J to your bedroom” I turned to face J, then I followed him.
“Are you okay?” he asked.
“Is it weird that- I wasn’t scared ?”
“Scared of leaving?”
“Yeah, but, also- all those guns, I wasn’t scared, it made me feel safe”
“no it’s not weird” he smiled. I was sitting on his bed, he sat next to me.
“you know that my dad has probably the same stuff on his side, and he won’t mind use it”
“that’s why we got this, we won’t mind use it too” I looked at him.
“Thank you, for everything, for risking your life, risking everything for me” he simply smiled and kissed me.
“Come on, let’s go to bed, you deserve it”

BUT DON’T WORRY!!  I AM STILL POSTING ON THIS PAGE ALL THE TIME!! And updating my fan fictions - business as usual !!!
This Chapter sets up a whole series of events to follow so stay tuned loves!
Now.... on with the story....
(NOT MY GIF - ALL CREDITS TO THE WONDERFUL OWNER)
Tumblr media
2 weeks. I hadn’t seen a single Shelby or Gray in 2 weeks. I’ve been going about my days, mostly surviving by suppressing the memories of Michael’s return. Out of sight out of mind, right? Ignorance is bliss, as they say.
Well, that was until I found Arthur Shelby in such a drunken state that if I didn’t know him any better I would have assumed he was dead. Mumbling, grumbling and slumped over on the floor against someones back door.
The moment I saw him, I forgot about everything. About having to stay away from the Shelby’s. God know’s I have a soft spot for Arthur, and there was no way I could leave him on the street like that. Especially as a Shelby. There’s entirely too many people in this place who would do unspeakable things to a vulnerable, defenceless Shelby.
Most of the time while dragging him back to his apartment, his arm draped across my shoulders, he’s uttering nonsense and reeks of whiskey. A few times he mentions Michael and Gina. I hate hearing their names. At some stages me mentions things not being the same, grumbling about Gina. But I try my hardest to shrug it off, and not read into it. He is completely and utterly wasted.
When we reached his apartment, and I dig in his pockets for his keys, it occurs to me that he doesn’t have them on him.
Of course he doesn’t.
What I do next I do quickly. Through the backs of the streets, I drag him and he stumbles and trips trying to keep up with my pace. I need to get him to the Shelby house and leave. When we come up to the front door step, I’m relieved to see all the lights are off. They’re all asleep. No one is to be seen.
“Alright Arthur,” I breathed heavily as I sat him down on the front steps. I kneel in front of him, making sure he’s sitting up straight and not hunched over uncomfortably “You silly thing” I sigh as I look at him sadly. He always struggled with alcohol.
Unable to risk spending anymore time at their house, I stand up and brace myself to knock on the door and run. With three loud and quick knocks that will hopefully wake someone up, I quickly run away from the house, hiding behind the corner of another building.
My breath hitches as Polly pulls the door open, her robe draped around her. Irritated and sleepy, she begins fussing over Arthur and by then, Tommy has met her at the door. They look at one another in confusion about how on earth Arthur got there, especially in the state he’s in. While Polly stands him up, pulling him inside, Tommy looks out into the streets, his brows furrowed. Knowing Arthur is safe, I leave quickly and quietly darting through back streets until I’m far enough away from the Shelby house to walk back in the streets again, and head up to my apartment.
It takes me a while to wind down once I’m home, but after half an hour the exhaustion gets the better of me. I rub my neck gingerly where it aches from dragging Arthur. He’s not a big man, but I was practically hauling all his dead weight.
God he’s lucky I have a soft spot for him.
As I fall asleep I think of Arthur, if he’s okay. If Polly and Tommy got him inside alright. I’m sure they did. I’m sure he got a good scolding from them both which undoubtedly would have sobered him up pretty quickly.
And I try not to think about the things he said about Michael. And Gina. Something about Michael not being the same? Or maybe it was Gina not being the same? I don’t know. I can’t go over this. I’ve always believed there was some honesty in drunken words. But right now, I don’t want to believe a bar of that. I’d rather just tell myself he was drunk out of his mind and was mumbling anything and everything. For my own sanity. For my own peace of mind.
THE NEXT DAY
I don’t remember when I fell asleep, but I wake up in a jolt as knock at my door sends me upright in bed.
“What the fuck” I hiss as I pull my unruly hair out of my face. I glance at the clock.
9am?
Jesus. I slept in. As the knocking persists I grab my robe from my cupboard, wriggling it over my nightgown in a tired and flustered hurry.
“Who is it?” I call as I patter down the hall way barefoot as I fold my arms across my chest tightly.
I’ve god no goddamn bra on.
She the person doesn’t reply to my question but persists knocking, my irritation levels rise. I’m truly not an angry person. But I’m also truly not a morning person.
“Who is it?!” I shout again in frustration as I quickly rush into the bathroom, trying to comb my hair with my fingers before I answer the door.
No answer. Probably a kid playing knock and run. I swear to god if it’s that Timothy boy from the floor below…
Irritation and desperation for the incessant knocking to stop, I give up on fixing my appearance and fly to the door, ripping it open in lightening speed without even checking the peep hole first.
Prepared to launch into a lecture about how knock and run isn’t funny, I’m caught dead in my tracks by my visitors standing before me.
Polly, Arthur and Tommy.
They stare at me in shock, just as taken aback as I am.
Without even thinking, I begin to slam the door shut. Why. I don’t even know. Panic, I guess. Shock?
Just as the door is about the close it is stopped with a loud thud, as Tommy’s outstretched arm holds it open.
Silence follows as Tommy and I stare at one another through the opening in the door.
Fuck.
“Tommy move” I manage to say “I’m not doing this”
“Izzy just open the door for a second-“
I shake my head, my grip tightening around the door knob.
“Well I guess I’ll just have to stand here all day then, eh? Until one of us gives up”
“You’re both too stubborn for that” Polly say’s and Tommy raises his brows at me.
We both know I’m not going to be able to close the door. And we both know Tommy will stand there all day if he has to.
My thoughts are interrupted by the door suddenly the door flying open.
I stumble back, as Tommy stands broad shouldered in my door way, Polly and Arthur watching nervously from behind him.
I shake my head, a lump in my throat beginning to swell. I can’t do this. I don’t want to see them. I can’t. They’re out of my life now.
It’s supposed to be that way.
It’s easier that way.
Quickly, the lump grows into an overwhelming need to cry, that I can’t control. Tommy watches me nervously, but quickly his face turns into a distraught panic as I clasp a hand over my mouth.
“I can’t do this” My voice is muffled behind my hand as tears well heavily in my eyes.
Tommy rushes forward immediately, reaching out to hold me. Initially I fight against it, trying to wriggle out of his grip. But the weakness from crying makes me give in, and he engulfs me in his arms. His smell, his feel, everything about him feels so foreign but familiar. It’s been a long time since I’ve had a big, brother like bear hug from Tommy. Realising this only makes me cry harder.
“I’m sorry,” he coos as I cry into his chest.
We stay like this for a few minutes, and I can hear his heart racing in his chest the entire time. Just like mine. Knowing how much this breaks his heart, I begin to stifle my cries, and pull myself together.
“Come here, eh” He says to me in a low voice as he holds my face firmly “Just breathe”
His voice sounds shaky, which is something I rarely hear from Thomas Shelby. It almost sounds like he has a lump in his own throat that he is swallowing down.
“Darling, sit down yeah? Arthur will put the kettle on” Polly says gently, nodding at Arthur who rushes to the kitchen beside us.
Tommy gives me one encouraging but worried smile before he lets me go, and I take a seat at my dining table. Tommy and Polly follow suit, and we sit in silence as I wipe the tears of my face. Once Arthur returns with tea, we all take a deep breath in unison to prepare ourselves for whatever is about to come next.
“Isabelle, we need you to talk to us…” Polly begins slowly, before asking the question I’ve been dreading facing for weeks “What did Michael say?”
I rub temples, tension rising as my mind races.
I don’t want to tell them, but I cannot lie. I cannot keep acting like I hate them, just to keep them arms length away and abide my Michael’s request. It’s only hurting them more.
I sigh. There’s no other way to put it but exactly how it happened.
“He asked me to stay out of his way. That he was happy, and if I really cared about him I would leave for him”
“That’s why you left the pub” Tommy says quietly, almost to himself, as he puts two and two together.
I nod, gravely.
Polly shakes her head as she looks away. I know she can’t believe the cold, cruel man her son has turned into. Either can I.
“Is that why he visited you that night?” Polly looks back at me.
“What?” I reply in shock, wondering how the hell she knows that he visited me.
She sighs, taking a sip of her tea “Gina was asking Michael. Pestering him about it. Constantly. I told her who you were. The day Michael came home, I couldn’t stand to see him pretend like he barely knew you. I wouldn’t have it. So since she knew who you were, since I told her, she’s been suspicious” She pauses, looking at Tommy and Arthur nervously before she continues “So I started reading her letters, she was telling her friends that she thinks that Michael went and visited you on his first night back, to sleep with you. That he got it out of his system and now you’re out of the picture”
“Jesus Polly” Arthur exclaims, almost laughing “You read her letters?”
“Of course I did, I read them all. I don’t trust her as far as I can throw her” She scoffs.
“I am out of the picture” I speak up, referring to Gina’s letters “He definitely didn’t sleep with me. He couldn’t have looked like he hated me more”
There’s silence in the room.
“Isabelle” Polly sits up straight in her chair, leaning forward “Michael is my son. But he has been a horrible, cruel, prick. I won’t, I cannot, defend his actions. You, even when Michael was gone you we’re part of the business. Part of the family. Regardless of him or Gina, you’re family. You are family”
Some how hearing Polly say that breaks and mends my heart in different ways all at once.
“And family look after family” Arthur says firmly “Like how you looked after me last night”
My mouth parts slightly. I thought I had gotten away with that.
“We knew that was you sweetheart, thats how we knew we hadn’t lost you for real” Polly smiles at me gently.
I look over at Tommy, he’s the final say. Always.
“We want you back in the family meetings Isabelle, back with us”
No. No. I understand that I can’t continue on avoiding them like the plague. But I can’t - I don’t want to join back into the family. I’ve spent weeks hating every second of time that I remember from seeing Michael with Gina that day. How am I supposed to cope seeing them together on a daily basis.
“I can’t-“ I shake my head quickly, refusing the proposition.
“Michael is not in charge of you Isabelle” Polly replies. But that’s not the problem.
“It’s not that, I-“ I pause, trying to gather my thoughts into words “I can’t see him… with her”
Silence, again.
“The last time I saw him… they way he looked at me” I swallow hard “Ive spent every waking moment trying to get it out of my head. And he wouldn’t want to see me. He doesn’t love me Polly, it’s done”
“Yes he does” Polly says plainly.
I look at her, brows furrowed.
Trust me. I want more than anything to live in denial. But it’s a fact. Michael does not love me. Sometimes, a lot of times in the past week, I’ve been forced to question if he ever did.
“You don’t see him with Gina. How he is. He’s not himself. He doesn’t look at her the way he looked at you. Tommy caught him the other day…” she pauses, looking over at Tommy to finish the story.
“We had some old boxes moved around, stuff from old houses. They were sitting at the house. Gina was out, and when I came into the room I saw Michael holding a picture from Christmas two years ago… Of you” Tommy pauses “He must have found it in one of the boxes… or he was looking for it. I watched him. His was just staring. Frozen. Then when Gina came home that night, he was different. Like deep down his mind was somewhere else. It was with you, Izzy. He just can’t see it”
I know the exact picture. Me sitting on his lap as we laugh. We were always laughing. Always touching in some way. Always. I used to stare at that picture myself, waiting for Michael to come home.
“But I can’t make him see it, Tommy. I can’t make him. Im not going to beg for a man who doesn’t even want me” Saying those words out loud stings.
“Then come back for us, god knows we need you” Polly smiles, reaching out for my hand. I take it, and she squeezes gently.
“What about Gina?” I say anxiously “She’ll have my head if I set foot near Michael”
“She won’t dare say anything around me if she’s as smart as she thinks she is” Polly hisses. I don’t know this girl. Gina. Whatever I don’t like about her mostly has to do with the fact that I wish I was her. But everyone else seems to have a deep hatred for her. I can only imagine what she’s like.
When I have no argument against them anymore, I shrug, sitting back in my seat completely defeated.
Tommy smiles, giving me a wink “Welcome back to the family eh?”

Photography || Josh Dun x Reader Chapter.1
Chapter.1|| Rain
Word count: 2700
Warnings: Maybe cursing? I dunno depends on my mood , fainting.
//This first chapter doesn't have Josh in here but a lot of Ty x Jenna , So live with it sorry ,probably next chapter Jish will be in it. \\
//And I guess I tried to recreate how Jenna and Tyler met , but I don't know much about it . So please don't be rude , or harsh . I'm a little insecure about it ... Thanks for reading..
what am I doing with my life --
Sitting quietly I stared out the window of the music store , I hum lightly before looking back over at the collection of Cd's and records .  Humming along to the song that been blasting to the speakers , it seemed familiar , patting my leg to the beat quietly I looked over the all the Cd's, I stopped as I stared down at the CD with a series of circles on it , I stared at it."Blurryface?" I whisper aloud. I jumped at the sound of the bell on the door, I turn to a flash of red seemed to blind me, looking down , I wanted to see the features of this beautiful man , but there was nothing , I stared face to face with a blur.
I jump awake , leaning up quickly I gasp for air .Panting  harshly I glance around my room , eyes landing on my window, a light shade of blue shined through giving my room a winter's morning aesthetic. I sigh , taking deep breaths in through my nose and out through my mouth, glancing around my room I quickly made sure no human , or inhuman thing was in sight . continuing my rigid deep breaths , I look over at my phone before picking it up I stared at the time , Groaning I leaned up in bed lazily scrolling through twitter . It was 3:30 am for Christ sake , what is up with these nightmares .
Why did this happen to me ? I couldn't talk about my nightmares to anyone ,I used to tell my best friend Codi . But he left me for dead once he got a new girlfriend . ( Seeing as I wouldn't let him into my pants.) He thought I was crazy , insane. He wasn't even the only one , my dad thought I was delusional , my mom thought I was just 'sick' from the anxiety pills I was taking.
Nobody knew that I wasn't crazy , delusional , or sick , These were actual dreams and I couldn't get rid of them . There was no way out , I was trapped inside my own mind , and I was slowly killing myself .I jumped from my thinking position as I looked down at my phone 5:30 am , Time for work .
Leaning up in my bed I got up , running a hand through my hair , biting down on my lip , I strolled over to the bathroom . Sliding into my ( DM's ) my work uniform before turning to the mirror with a sigh . Pulling my hair back I put it up , staring at my face in the reflection , I stood emotionless , before muttering a sigh as I began to put on a light layer of make up . Once I was done , i looked back in the mirror , still emotionless , before putting a fake smile on my face. Good enough . After all , There is no distraction to mask what is real.
I huff another sigh before leaving the bathroom , heading out of my small room , picking up my husky puppy , Harley letting her lick my face . Letting out a slight giggle i set her back on the floor , feeding her breakfast shortly after , glancing over at my kitchen I simply shook my head.I'll just eat something at the Cafe ,any silverware I had had been dirty , along with every other dish I had . Patting Harley on the head I turned toward the door I grabbed my keys , Locking the door and heading out to my car.
I sat quietly ( NOT IN SILENCE READER-CHAN NOO!)in my car , looking over at my radio . (WHICH NOBODY STOLE.) I turn it on , letting a random channel begin to play , switching to a different channel this one was full of static , Music barely being heard below it.' I've been thinking too much , Help me..' I furrow my brow slightly as I tried to listen closer , but the song went up in static." Weird... I usually get this channel.." I change the channel once again , ' music ' had begun to play , Obnoxious music , This wasn't really music...
' My anaconda don't want none unless you've got buns , Hun!' Quickly turning off my radio I continued to cringe . Once I arrived at my work , I groaned as it began pouring down rain . Looking around my car for my hoodie , biting down on my lip I found it nowhere in sight.Huffing , I turned my body toward the door of my car , getting ready to spring out. Planning out a plan in my head , my work had been a block away from here, cause god knows parking in this city. ( If you've ever been to Portland Oregon you know the struggle.) Quickly jumping out of , My car I quickly locking it and took off running down the street , realistically speaking : I'm pretty fast , but not fast enough to not get soaking wet.
I walked into the entrance of my work , shivering I looked up to be greeted by red cheeks , blonde hair and blue eyes , This was my best friend Jenna Black . She was stunning , it was unfair , call me selfish but I'm just telling the truth. She doesn't know about my nightmares either.. I don't want to lose her either,
( Quick comment : This was before Jenna and Tyler met , and I'm pretty sure Jenna never worked in a cafe , but since I'm pretty new to the Fandom oh well , Come on guys, It's FAN FICTION )
" Y/n, Your soaked!" She exclaimed speeding over to me , pressing a small towel to my face to clean up the slightly smeared make up and water." I think I noticed." I joked and looked up at her , I could feel my hair sticking to my scalp , and adding a slight waviness .
Pushing into the back I tore off my soaking wet over shirt , luckily my undershirt only being damp , pulling my work shirt over my head , along with my apron , I tied it behind my back before I redid my hair . Looking at myself in the reflection of my phone , most of my makeup had already came off , and what was still on my face had been smeared and messed up. Groaning i turned on my heel I cruised into the bathroom to wash off the rest of my make up .
Once I was 'pleased' with my appearance I headed out off the back and up behind the counter, Where Jenna had been cleaning the counters . Glancing back at me before she doubled back .
"Well that's different." She stared at my face for a second before turning back to the counters." Do I look okay ?" I asked being  slightly insecure about my bare face ." You look beautiful Y/n" she smiled and walked up to me , hugging me tightly ." Don't you have any extra  make up in your purse?" I practically beg her ."I'm sorry Y/n , I left it at home . I wouldn't lend it to you anyway , you look beautiful !" She smiled and tucked a loose hair behind my ear.
"Sure I do " I rolled my eyes before turning on my heel , heading over to the door I flipped the sign from closed to open , walking behind the counter I began to  start up the coffee machine and get everything started.
-Time skip sponsored by the many times I've cried over Truce -
Feeling my heart beat raise as I paced around behind the counter , finishing orders and taking orders , walked back over to the register to receive another order.Stopping abruptly in front of the counter I looked up at my new customer , panting lightly i smiled."H-hey what can I get you today?"
He looked over at me and gave off a slight grin .  He had short brown hair , brown eyes , his skin was slightly tan , not dark but not to light , as a black hoodie hung over his shoulders. ( REMEMBER THIS IS A JISH FANFIC NOT A TYJO FIC)He opened his lips to say something ,then paused ,closing his mouth before opening it again.
" Do you need air , cause I can wait." He chuckled . I smiled and shrugged." Oh I'm fine , Lunch break is in five minutes." I paused. " Anyways what can I get you?"I asked and looked up to him with a small smile." Oh, right , Um. Do you happen to have red bull here?" He asked , quiet serious ."Oh , Uh , hold on a sec." I turned around and looked over at Jenna . "Do we have red bull here?" she stood up straight and gave off her ' are you kidding me 'face . I shrugged and motioned behind me . She walked over to the counter and raised an eyebrow at the dude.
"You wanted red bull, yeah?" The guy looked up from his phone realizing someone new was talking to him and turned red as soon as he met eyes with her." Uh yeah , j-just wondering . " He stuttered." You are aware this is a coffee shop , not a gas station or a Walmart? No we don't have red bull." Jenna stated clearly  unimpressed , I pressed my hand on her shoulder to try and persuade her to calm down."Alright , s-sorry , I'll just have a black coffee , thanks . " She nodded before typing something into cash register, She gave him a forced small smile and handed him his receipt soon after he paid .
Jenna turned and smiled at me before she was off to go make his coffee,I motioned him over to me ."Sorry about her." I gave slight smile."No that's alright , Just tell her I'm sorry, I guess." he gave off a sad smile ."How about this " I paused . " You stay here for the next fifteen minutes and I'll get her to lunch with you." I smirked at him."Are you serious?" He asked slightly surprised.
" Yes! Sh." I looked over my shoulder to see Jenna heading back over to us."Here you go!" She seemed to have calmed down a little , but still gave off a somewhat unimpressed aurora."Thanks! " He smiled and looked between me and Jenna  before heading over to a table."He was a nice guy." I smile , but Jenna shrugged."I guess. " She looked down at her hands .
"Jenna , just because he wanted Red Bull from a cafe doesn't mean he's a bad guy!"I explain, trying to get her to give him a small chance."Yeah , I get he's not a bad guy." She huffed, washing off the counter."Take my break then , Go have Lunch with him." I smile. and lean against the sink."What? Are you serious?" Seemingly  copying Tyler's surprised attitude earlier." Yes , go!" I smirk and shooed her off, before I began cleaning down the counters with a wet rag.
-Time skip cause I'm lazy-
It was now 7:30 pm (19:30) as I tiredly walked over to the door  and flipped the sign to close , Jenna and Tyler had  been talking even while  Jenna had gotten back to work , Tyler still actually hasn't left the shop." Alright , I'm going home ." Almost tripping over my feet , I walked into the back to grab my  stuff."Wait !  I don't think you should  should drive home."Jenna followed behind me , making sure I didn't fall on my face."Why's that?" I ask , yawning, grabbing my things.
"You don't look to good." She paused and placed her hand on my forehead. " Your burning up!" She squeaked , trying to pull me out of the back to get me to sit down."I'm fine Jenn-" She interrupted me."Give me your keys." She demanded."Jenna No-"I tried again but I was interrupted once again."Just give her the keys." Tyler commented from behind her , I looked over her shoulder and glared at him.
"Ugh! FINE" I groaned and handed her the keys , as Jenna shut off the lights in the cafe I stood near the door , where Tyler stood next to me and waited patiently."I don't see why I can't drive myself home-" I groaned not being able to finish the words coming out of my mouth for the hundredth time that day.
"How much sleep did you get last night Y/n?" She pushed me out the door , Tyler in tow."Um.." I carried off , not giving her an answer."Exactly, Now What did you eat for breakfast?" She asked as she locked the door  to the cafe."Um, I had leftovers?" I carried off , She turned  and looked at me , clearly upset.
"Oh my gosh ! Fine you got me." I groaned, crossing my arms over my chest, how ever, that didn't help the empty feeling in my  stomach. My legs straining to move."Y/n you need to take care of yourself!"Jenna argued with me."Yes mom." I stuck my tongue out at her and Tyler. Tyler didn't like that much , but took side with Jenna."Y/n stop" He added.
"Yes Dad" I rolled my eyes , that didn't seem like a good Idea , as I took my first step away from the cafe I  went tumbling into a brick wall, I stared up at the crying sky. My eyes aren't rolling  , the world is just spinning , Then it all faded to black , the emptiness in my chest all seemed to fade and I couldn't feel anything. Emotionless.
-
I woke up back in my bed , luckily it was still night out, but I still heard chatting down stairs , probably Jenna and Tyler, Well that or I really needed to rest. Walking down the hall once I get to the stairs I look out over the railing to see Jenna showing Tyler all my photography . I had a stack of photos that I kept on my coffee table in the living room , no apparent reason why they were there , I just don't keep them in photo albums , I'd waist all my money buying photo albums.
"Wow she took these?" I heard Tyler ask Jenna in.. awe?"Yep! She's amazing isn't she?" Jenna gleamed, talking me up like I was some sort of professional.. well after graduating College , I hope I'm considered a professional.." Yeah! She's amazing.." He agreed, I mentally deadpan ,Jumping into their conversation"I mean . I wouldn't want to brag but yeah , I'm pretty awesome."I laughed from the top of the stairs  , making my way down the stairs.
" Jeez Y/n!"Tyler shouted as I had clearly scared them with how I jumped into their conversation."You gave us heart attack!" Jenna followed his lead."That's a thing now ? You guys finishing each other's sentences?"  I smirk and sit down on the floor , looking over the coffee table full of my photos.
"Wha-"  Ty started but I interrupted him"Never mind that why are you looking at my photos?"I ask , biting my lip as I began to get self conscious over the fact that Jenna had been talking me up the way she always had. "I figured your photographing hobby could use some publicity." Jenna smiled and wiggled her eyebrows."Oh really, and how is Tyler going to help my publicity?"I ask, quirking a brow at how she was so relaxed.
"Oh Right! Tyler is in a band called twenty one pilots. " She looked looked over at Tyler than back at me."So?" I question , standing up to start collecting the photos back into piles."We just lost our photographer,  and I would love if you would be our new photographer."  He grinned from ear to ear."Wha-" I began ,He cut in quickly , continuing what he'd began to say.
"But that would mean  you would have to travel on tour with us , and Jenna is all for it to , So you would have a companion , to help you with  everything . " He swallowed nervously  , I stare at him a second before looking back to Jenna , who nodded in agreement. Maybe I should , It's better for my career and I could always come back and get my job back at the cafe if It doesn't work  , And Harley could probably stay with my parents , I continued to stare off into space , deep in thought before  looking over at Tyler .
"Alright fine , I'll do it." Jenna and Tyler seem to jump in excitement , Jenna tackling me in a hug. "Jenna!" I squeak.
This was going to be one hell of a ride.

"THE GREAT GATSBY" (2013) Review
Tumblr media
"THE GREAT GATSBY" (2013) Review Before the release of Baz Luhrmann's 2013 adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's 1925 novel, "The Great Gatsby", there have been three previous movie adaptations and a television movie version. None of these versions have been well received by the critics. Even this latest adaptation has been receiving mixed reviews. I must admit that I had been reluctant to see the movie, myself. But dazzled by the movie's MTV-style trailer, I decided to see it for the sake of the visual effects. Many who have read Fitzgerald's novel or seen any of the previous adaptations, know the story. "THE GREAT GATSBY" told the story of a mysterious young millionaire named Jay Gatsby who settles in a large house in the fictional town of West Egg (for the noveau riche), on prosperous Long Island, during the summer of 1922 - the early years of the Jazz Age. Narrated by Gatsby's neighbor; the well-born, yet impoverished Nick Carraway; audiences become aware of the millionaire's desire to woo and win back the heart of Daisy Fay Buchanan, an old love he had first met during World War I and Nick's cousin. Unfortunately for Gatsby, Daisy is married to one of Nick's former Yale classmates, Tom Buchanan, who comes from old Chicago money. Tom is engaged in an extramarital affair with one Myrtle Wilson, who is the wife of a gas station owner located in the Valley of Ashes - a stretch of road between Long Island and Manhattan. Gatsby invites Nick to one of his nightly lavish parties, given to impress Daisy, who lives across Oyster Bay at East Egg, a neighborhood for those from old money. Nick learns from Jordan Baker, an old Louisville friend of Daisy's, that Gatsby would like him to arrange a meeting with his former love over afternoon tea. The two former lovers reunite on a rainy afternoon and re-ignite their love affair that eventually ends in tragedy. If critics were hoping that Baz Luhrmann would produce and direct a flawless or near flawless adaptation of Fitzgerald's novel, they were bound to be disappointed. "THE GREAT GATSBY" is not flawless. There were times when I found the movie a bit too melodramatic - especially during the party sequences. And I never saw the need to open the film with Nick Carraway being treated for alcoholism in a sanatorium. Luhrmann and the movie's other screenwriter, Craig Pearce, apparently included the sanatorium additions to transform Nick's character into some F. Scott Fitzgerald clone. The movie even ended with Nick's written recollections being given the title of Fitzgerald's novel. Frankly, I found this dumb and unnecessary. I also found the party sequence held by Tom and his married lover Myrtle Wilson at a New York apartment rather frantic. I realize that Nick became drunk at this party. But this scene proved to be one in which Luhrmann's colorful style nearly got the best of him. I suspect that many expect me to complain about some of the music featured in "THE GREAT GATSBY" - namely the director's use of hip hop music. However . . . I have no complaints about Luhrmann using modern day music in a film set in 1922. For some reason I cannot explain, I believe Luhrmann and composer Craig Armstrong did a pretty bang-up job in blending their occasional use of modern-day music with some of the movie's scenes. There were also complaints that Catherine Martin's costumes were not a complete accurate projection of 1920s fashion. I did notice that although the movie was set in 1922, the clothes seemed to be a reflection of the mid or late period of that decade. Then I saw images like the following:

Or images like the following for the male characters:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I had wept with exultation and joy at my first sight of Martin's costumes. Her costumes for this film are some of the most gorgeous I have seen in a period drama in quite a while. Absolutely . . . bloody . . . gorgeous. The moment I set eyes on those costumes, I realized that I could not care less whether her work was an accurate reflection of 1922 fashion or not. Martin also served as the movie's production designer. If there was any justice, this would earn double Academy Award nominations for both her costumes and the movie's production designs. Baz Luhrmann filmed "THE GREAT GATSBY" in Australia, which means that he and his crew had to re-create 1922 Long Island and Manhattan from scratch. Martin was basically responsible for the movie's early Art Deco look - especially for scenes set in Gatsby's East Egg manor, his Manhattan speakeasy, the Manhattan restaurant where Nick and Jordan met, the Buchanans' East Egg home and especially the bleak-looking Valley of Ashes, the location of George Wilson's garage and the infamous Dr. T. J. Eckleburg billboard. Needless to say, I was more than impressed. I was dazzled. I have been so busy discussing the movie's technical aspects that I failed to say anything about Luhrmann and Pearce's adaptation of Fitzgerald's film. I have already expressed my displeasure at their attempt to transform Nick Carraway into some kind of Fitzgerald clone at the movie's beginning and end. But aside from this faux paus, I feel that the two did a pretty damn good job. Were they completely faithful to the novel? No. Did this spell disaster? For some moviegoers and fans of Fitzgerald's novel, it did. But I do not share their feelings. I do not demand that a movie or television production re-create a novel or play in exact details. That road leads to insanity and sometimes, disaster. Aside from what was done to Nick's character at the beginning and end, the movie featured a few other changes. In this movie, a grieving George Wilson learned from Tom Buchanan that Jay Gatsby owned the yellow car that killed Myrtle at the former's gas station. Unless I am mistaken, Tom had conveyed this news to George, when the latter paid a visit to his East Egg mansion in the novel. The movie featured flashbacks of Gatsby's life in North Dakota and his years spent with a millionaire named Dan Cody. But Gatsby's father did not make an appearance near the end of the movie (for which I am utterly grateful). Did these changes bother me? Nope, they did not. I was too busy admiring the energy that Luhrmann injected into Fitzgerald's tale. This was especially apparent in the pivotal scene featuring Gatsby and Tom's showdown over Daisy's affections in a Plaza Hotel suite. The scene crackled with emotions and an energy that seemed to be either lacking or at best, muted, in other adaptations. More importantly, Luhrmann and Pearce's screenplay finally lifted a fog and allowed me to fully understand and appreciate Fitzgerald's tale for the first time. I am afraid that the previous two adaptations (1974 and 2000) had bored me to the point that the emotions and theme behind the story had failed to elude me in the past. And that is the best part of Luhrmann's adaptation. For the first time, I finally understood the pathetic nature of the Jay Gatsby/Daisy Buchanan love story. And I am being complimentary. A movie review would not be complete with a discussion on the performances. Leonardo DiCaprio became the fifth actor to portray Jay Gatsby aka James Gatz. And as usual, he was magnificent. In fact, I believe his Gatsby was the best I have ever seen on screen. He managed to maintain the character's mystery in the movie's first half without eliminating any of the character's strong emotions. Despite the attempt to transform Nick Carraway into a Fitzgerald clone, I had no problems with Tobey Maguire's portrayal of the character. In fact, he did an excellent job of conveying both Nick's observant nature and emotional attachment to Gatsby, while injecting a bit of warm humor and slight goofiness in the role. I realize that Maguire and DiCaprio had been friends for over two decades. I suspect that friendship made it easy for the pair to convey the growing friendship between Nick and Gatsby. Carey Mulligan gave an exquisite performance as the quixotic Daisy Buchanan. Mulligan made it easy for viewers to understand how Gatsby fell so hard for her. She perfectly conveyed Daisy's superficial idealism and warmth. But Mulligan also skillfully allowed Daisy's more unpleasant side - her selfishness, mild snobbery and lack of courage - to ooze between the cracks in the character's facade. Joel Edgerton really impressed me in his portrayal of the brutish Tom Buchanan. In the actor's first scene, I felt as if he was laying it a bit thick in conveying the character's unpleasant nature. But Edgerton quickly grew into the role and portrayed Tom's brutality with more subtlety. He also did a great job in portraying the character's surprising talent for manipulation and genuine feelings for the doomed Myrtle. For the role of Daisy's Louisville friend and golfer Jordan Baker, Luhrmann chose Australian-born stage-trained actress named Elizabeth Debicki for the role. And she did a pretty damn good job. In fact, I thought Debicki did a solid job of conveying Jordan's fast-living and cynical personality with great skill. Isla Fisher knocked it out of the ballpark as the fun-loving Myrtle Fisher. Not only did she gave a first-rate portrayal of Myrtle's garishness and warmth, but also the character's grasping ambition and desperation to escape from her stagnant and dull marriage to gas station owner George. Myrtle is not highly regarded by many Fitzgerald fans. But Fisher made it easy for me to feel some sparks of pity toward the latter's situation regarding her marriage to George. Speaking of the latter, "THE GREAT GATSBY" marked the third period drama in which I have seen Jason Clarke. His role as the pathetic George Wilson is a bit smaller, but Clarke made the best of it, especially in two scenes. One scene featured Clarke perfectly conveying George's clumsy attempt to toady Tom for a business transaction regarding the latter's car. And in another, he did a beautiful job in portraying George's pathetic grief over a woman who had stopped loving him a long time ago. This movie also marked a reunion for Clarke and Edgerton. Both had appeared in "ZERO DARK THIRTY". I also want to point out Amitabh Bachchan's much talked about portrayal of Gatsby's gambling friend, Meyer Wolfshiem - a fictionalized take on gambler/gangster Arnold Rothstein. No only did the actor looked unusual, he gave a lively, yet brief performance that I found quite captivating. And Jack Thompson gave a quiet (almost speechless) and subtle performance as Nick's psychiatrist Dr. Walter Perkins. STAR WARS fans should take note that eleven years ago, Thompson portrayed Cliegg Lars - father to Edgerton's Owen Lars - in "STAR WARS: EPISODE II - ATTACK OF THE CLONES". I am the last person who will ever claim that this latest version of "THE GREAT GATSBY" is perfect. Trust me, it is not. But it is a very entertaining film that I believe captured the emotions and theme behind F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel better than any previous adaptation. More importantly, director Baz Luhrmann injected style and energy not only into the story itself, but also its visual look and the first-rate performances from a cast led by Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire. I would have no qualms about watching this movie over and over again.

The Tick
The Tick is a superhero TV show with a difference. It& apos; s chock full of brightly-coloured heroes, sarcastic villains, excellent tales and fantastic wordplay. Unlike the sagas in Marvel movies, the heroes and rogues in The Tick feel like they belong to our world. They& apos; re messy, funny and construct lots of terrible decisions. Luckily, the display was renewed for a second season, which manages to be even smarter, slicker and more heartwarming than the first, with noteworthy performances from Peter Serafinowicz and Griffin Newman in the lead roles as The Tick and, erm, Arthur.

Arguably the best sci-fi show since Battlestar Galatica, The Expanse is based on the series of fictions by James S. A. Corey, the pen name of authors Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck. It& apos; s set in a future where humans have colonised most of the solar system, but there are big divisions between the occupants of Earth, Mars and& apos; Belters& apos ;, who reside on space station beyond the asteroid belt. Based on the novel by Neil Gaiman and brought to the screen by the ever-excellent Bryan Fuller, American Gods is an existential look at what would happen if deities were to walk the earth.

New Season Added: Bosch
With 20 -something novels to mine for source material, Bosch is a character that was always destined for the small screen. Created by Michael Connelly but brilliantly brought to life by actor Titus Welliver, the series follows the exploits of LA Homicide detective Harry Bosch and features enough grit to pave the longest of driveways.
This is no surprise – the series has been created by Eric Overmyer, who was part of the alumni that created The Wire. Bosch is another show that has been put together by Amazon Studios – proving that streaming services are becoming just as powerful as the HBOs of the world when it comes to producing compelling drama.
Bosch Season 5 has now landed on Amazon Prime, continuing the saga of Harry Bosch and it comes with a nice uplift in quality too, building season upon season to become one of our favourite presents on Prime at the moment.

Goliath
Billy Bob Thornton stars as a washed-up lawyer looking for a big break who stumbles on to a big case that may well give him the solace he needs. Made by David E Kelly who loves a bit of courtroom drama, having already made Boston Legal, The Practice and Ally McBeal, the display works well as a standalone series but there& apos; s talk that it may get a second season. Goliath is part of Amazon& apos; s Original series of TV shows.

The Good Fight
If you were a fan of US legal and political drama The Good Wife, then you& apos; re going to love The Good Fight. It& apos; s set one year after the events of the final episode of the The Good Wife and this time shifts the focus of the narrative to Diane Lockhart.
Season one has been a success and now the second season is available to stream via Amazon, but regrettably it& apos; s not free. But while you either wait for it to become free( it may take a while) or wait to decide whether it& apos; s worth it, catch up on the first season now to help you induce your intellect up.

Hand of God
Last seen in Sons of Anarchy, Ron Perlman has moved from the mad world of biker gangs into the stranger world of law. Perlman plays a vice-riddled barrister who, after suffering a breakdown, starts to believe he is a messenger from god.
The full first season for Hand of God arrived on Amazon Prime, after a successful pilot. A second season is also available, which will sadly be the last as Amazon has decided to not renew the demonstrate. This is a shame as it may not be a light-hearted ride – but it is one drama that takes dark turn after dark turn and is all the better for it.

Hell on Wheels
Hell on Wheels sounds like it should be a Sons of Anarchy rival, about motorcycle gangs or the like. But it’s actually centred on the construction of the US’s First Transcontinental Railroad. The first season begins soon after the assassination of President Lincoln and from there the demonstrate plays out like a western, indicating myriad sides of the railway being built – from slaves to their owners, to the money me behind the strategy. It’s a show that’s been a massive hit for AMC – dropping just behind The Walking Dead in their ratings for original shows.

The Last Tycoon
F Scott Fitzgerald may be known for The Great Gatsby and Tender Is The Night but The Last Tycoon – his last and unfinished fiction – is perhaps his most ambitious piece of work. It peels away the glitz and glamour of Hollywood in the& apos; 30 s to show a period when backstabbing was the norm, fascism was on the rise and everyone had an unbelievable amount of money. Kelsey Grammer is superb as movie mogul Pat Brady, while Matt Bomer is also great as Monroe Stahr, the up and coming cinema exec who wants to make it big. The Last Tycoon is occasionally flawed but it& apos; s a sumptuous watch.

The Looming Tower
The 8th episode of The Looming Tower are now available on Amazon Prime Video, but despite the fact there still aren& apos; t many compared against most Tv presents, it hasn& apos; t stopped this narrative of threat and politics from proving to be a hit. Based on the book by the same name, it& apos; s about the unease around Al-Qaeda and Osama Bin Laden in the 1990 s, as well as the rivalry between the CIA and FBI.

Downton Abbey
Like watching fictional posh people live their lives in early-twentieth century opulence? You& apos; re not alone- millions of people tuned in to Downton Abbey during its TV run, and it& apos; s now available to stream in its entirety on Amazon Prime Video.
Following the trials and tribulations of the Crawley family on the titular Downton Abbey estate, it& apos; s a kitchen sink drama of sorts- except all the cutlery is made of silver, and it& apos; s an army of servants doing the washing up.

Masters Of Sex
Yes, Masters Of Sex could have ended up being a Mad Men rip-off when it first arrived in 2013 but thanks to the brilliance of Michael Sheen and Lizzy Caplan the present soon elevated above being a copycat.
Sheen is Dr William Masters, a fertility expert who turns his hand to researching the world of sex. Turns out researching sexuality entails having a lot of it, which would all be rather gratuitous if it wasn& apos; t wrap in some of the most intelligent script work around.

Outlander
Game of Thrones with kilts and time traveling, Outlander was a solid show in its first season – by the second it was a great one. Based on the eight-book series by Diana Gabaldon, Outlander is about Claire Randall, a nurse who is transported from 1945 to 1743, where she satisfies a Scottish proscribe and a simmer romance ensues. Given it’s shot in the Scottish highlands, the prove seems fantastic, is well acted and should be your next binge watch.

The Path
Aaron Paul is back on Tv, thanks to The Path. And while his role might not be as enticing as Jesse in Breaking Bad, The Path is decent enough. Revolving around the Meyerist movement, and its’ not a cult/ definitely a cult& apos; cult, the show is a gripping and beautifully shot look at what happens when people genuinely believe.

Rogue
Now in its fourth season, Rogue has matured into a great crime drama. While it may not be the Sopranos in its scope, it has a realness to it that attains the violence that& apos; s shown on the screen hit home hard. Thandie Newton stars a Grace Travis, an undercover sleuth who is trying to balance being a wife and mother with the illicit affair of a crime boss. Gritty stuff.

Sneaky Pete
Sneaky Pete& apos; s plot maybe a little cliche – a con man presumes the identity of someone else to try and make a new break in the world – but Giovanni Ribisi is superb as Marius, the titular character and there& apos; s plenty of intrigue to keep you glued to this new Amazon Original.
Interestingly, the show is co-created by Bryan Cranston which builds him the streaming king, devoted he& apos; s done so well with Breaking Bad on Netflix. Don& apos; t anticipate Sneaky Pete to be as intense as Breaking Bad – it& apos; s a crime caper, yes, but it doesn& apos; t take itself too seriously.
The third season of the show is coming on May 10, 2019.

Startup
Not content with becoming a Hobbit, starring in the Marvel universe or playing Dr Watson, Martin Freeman goes back to his TV roots for Startup – a great look at what happens when a bunch of tech entrepreneurs generate something that is much bigger than they ever thought it would be. UnREAL
UnREAL focuses on the fictional goings-on behind the scenes of a fictional reality indicate. It& apos; s a show that holds a break mirror up to the vacuous and plentiful reality shows that litter TV channels at the moment and actually goes into some rather dark territory. Yes, it& apos; s melodramatic and will wave numerous moral flags at you while you are watching it, but it& apos; s nonetheless engrossing television.

Transparent
Anything Netflix can do, Amazon Prime can do better it seems, especially when it comes to winning a Golden Globe. Netflix may have induced history by being the first streaming service to win a Golden Globe, courtesy of the acting talents of Kevin Spacey in House of Cards, but Amazon ran and topped this by winning the Best TV Show prize in 2014 for Transparent.
It was much deserved. Transparent is everything you want in a Tv reveal. It& apos; s heartwarming, funny and packs a real punch about a subject that doesn& apos; t get enough attention: transgenderism. Jeffrey Tambor& apos; s Maura Pfefferman is a television character we hope will be around for a long time.

The critically acclaimed series based on the memoirs of chef and food personality Eddie Huang is back for a fourth series. The show follows the hip-hop preoccupied Eddie and his family as they reconcile their Taiwanese roots with their new life in Florida, where they have moved to open a cowboy-themed restaurant.
Funny and heartwarming, Fresh Off the Boat is not only altogether binge-able, but it also represents an important milestone in the portrayal of Asian-American families on the small screen.

This entails a( vehicle) crash course in black culture ensues. Catastrophe
From the minds of Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney comes one of the funniest, most well-written sitcom in years. The plot is slight: a one-night stand turns into a relationship once Sharon announces she is pregnant. But the series contains some of the most cut-to-the-bone humour seen on Tv. Combine this with a nice slab of pathos – nestled among many a sexuality joke – and what you have is a modern classic.
The third series, which recently aired on Channel 4, is now available on Amazon Prime Video – it features the last ever performance from the imitable Carrie Fisher.

Comrade Detective
Comrade Detective is a weird gem on Amazon. Starring Channing Tatum and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, the show is a parody of gritty American buddy policeman indicates and Communist Propaganda from the Cold War.
It& apos; s an unusual combining, but it works. Each episode is presented as though it& apos; s a remastered real episode of a lost Romanian Communist Propaganda series from the 80 s which was used to entertain and promote Communist ideals. The entire display was filmed in Romania with Romanian actors and then dubbed over by Tatum and Gordon-Levitt.

New Season Added: The Tick
We like a dark twisting on the superhero genre as much as the next person, and The Tick delivers it: it& apos; s about an accountant with mental health issues, who may or may not be a superhero – it could all be in his head. Peter Serafinowicz is the eponymous Tick, and despite that instead sombre-sounding plot outline, this is a black and surreal slapstick worth attempting out.

Clarkson, Hammond and the other one are back for Grand Tour: Season 2. Well, we kind of knew that they would be as they all have massive contracts that mean we will be seeing quite a few seasons of the Definitely Not Top Gear But Quite A Bit Like Top Gear show. This season considers Clarkson drive a fast auto, Hammond drive a faster vehicle and virtually die, and the other one drive a fast car considerably slower than the rest. If you enjoy watching middle aged men burn rubber in the middle of the desert, like a scene out of Mad Max: Fury Road, then “theyre for” you. Not many people can find the funny in the post-apocalypse, but Will Forte has managed it with The Last Man On Earth. He writes and stars in this comedy where he is the only survivor on earth after a virus kills everyone else. Mad Dogs
The UK version of Mad Dogs was a breath of fresh air when it first aired. Well, the first season was then it all went a little too strange. This remake – green-lit from Amazon& apos; s burgeoning Originals series – takes very good from the UK version and mixtures it with a plot that& apos; s a little easier to follow and humour that& apos; s more laugh out loud than pitch black.
The premise is the same: a bunch of mates go and visit one friend at his luxury villa to celebrate his early retirement, only for murder, mayhem and mind-boggling plot developments to ensue. A touch of genius is the recasting of Ben Chaplin. While he played the rich, retiring Alvo in the UK version here he gets to try his luck in a bigger and better role.

Parks and Rec is a joy of a indicate. Originally seen as a quasi spin-off of the Office – utilizing the same documentary style camerawork, awkward pauses, asides to camera – it soon grew from an amusing first season, about the goings on in the parks department of Pawnee, to a slapstick phenomenon that spanned a fantastic seven seasons. Seinfeld
Seinfeld is comedy gold. It’s the sitcom that was self reflexive and knowing. It was about Jerry Seinfeld who was played by Jerry Seinfeld but was playing a version of himself. It’s a similar trick Larry David used when spinning off his character for the show Curb Your Enthusiasm. He even took it a step further to make a whole season of Curb dedicated to bringing back Seinfeld. New Season Added: The Americans
The Americans was cruelly mishandled when it originally came to UK TV, so we are glad it has finally discovered a decent place to reside. The show is a cracking crime period thriller that follows the exploits of a couple of KGB agents posing as US citizens around the time Ronald Reagan became US president.
It may occasionally flit between the ridiculous and the sublime but you would expect nothing more from a is demonstrating that& apos; s main conceit comprises characters duelling with duality. The& apos; 80 s defining is fantastic, too, though there aren& apos; t enough shell suits for our liking.

The Crossing
This sci-fi thriller has a really interesting premise. A group of refugees trying to escape a war arrive in an American town looking for somewhere to live. The sci-fi twist? They seem to be from 180 years in the future. Gasp! The tale centres around a local sheriff, a federal agent and a mum looking forward to her missing daughter. The Exorcist
There has been an influx of TV adaptations of movies recently, with many of them actually reaching the mark. The ones that succeeded the most are those that take the theme/ feeling of the movies they are adapting and go in their own direction – Fargo is a perfect example of this. Another instance is The Exorcist. Although it takes a couple of episodes to to go in there, the Tv series is a decent spin-off of the movie, with only a slither of a thread attaching the two.
Don& apos; t anticipate full-on scares, as this is definitely a slow burner. But when the exorcisms come( and there are a few) they will send a chill down your spine. The show is now into its second season, too, so you can watch the first season with the knowledge that the narrative of terror is set to continue.

The Fall
Before he was whipping up a blizzard as Mr Grey, Jamie Dornan played an effortlessly charming and equally chilling serial killer in The Fall, a fantastic Irish drama that deserves all the acclaim it gets.
Dornan is Paul Spector, a care worker who has a sideline in killing woman. To help track him down, hard-nosed detective Stella Gibson( Gillian Anderson) heads to Belfast to try and capture the murderer. The Fall is a perfect blend of intelligent scripting, nuanced acting and a fantastic premise. Knowing who the killer is from scene one amps up, rather than releases, the present& apos; s tension.

Hap and Leonard
Filmed in Baton Rouge and based on the stories of Joe Lansdale, Hap and Leonard is a great swampy noir thriller of a show that’s based on the relationship of two friends and the sometimes violent scrapes they get into. James Purefoy and Michael K Williams are superb as the pair, one a Vietnam vet, the other a draft dodger. Haven is a strange one – it’s a show that started as an adaptation of a Stephen King short story, The Colorado Kid, and has mutated into a love letter to King and his stories. It was an agonising wait for Mr Robot in the UK – the first season had all-but ended in the US before we even got a sniff of it. But its popularity meant that there was something of a bidding war to see who would show it in the UK. Amazon, Netflix and other more traditional broadcasters fought for it, proving that even bean counters can see the worth in counter culture.
Amazon won in the end and is the perfect place for a show that focuses on the exploits of hacker Elliot( a superb Rami Malek ). Mr Robot is Fight Club for the Tor generation, lifting a lid on a world where what Linux kernel you use is not just a badge of honour but a way of life.

Vikings
If you have any interest in Norse mythology then the name Ragnar Lothbrok will entail a whole lot to you. Basically he was a king and powerful ruler that was a right git to the English and the French.
Vikings is a series that traces his Norse-based goings on with enough charm and scope to take on Game of Thrones in the sword and sandals stakes. Kicking off back in 1992, it bridges the gap of the Burton aesthetic and the comic book series, and is regarded by Batman fans as having perhaps the definitive onscreen take over the Dark Knight.
It& apos; s ostensibly a kids cartoon, but the ongoing storylines are captivating and stylishly noir-like in delivery. Suits is now available on Amazon Prime Video as is the much darker, much newer fifth season of Orphan Black.] You'll need a Prime subscription to watch Amazon Prime Instant Video for free, and best of all, you can get a free 7-day trial of Amazon Prime Video  Amazon has been developing and creating titles itself over the past few years, which are called Amazon Originals or Amazon Original Series. These homegrown TV shows are arguably some of the best that the Amazon Prime Video service has to offer (think The Tick and Transparent), which you can watch instantly when you have Amazon Prime access. There are many more shows you can watch through Amazon too of course, but some of these have to be purchased in order for you to start streaming. We'll be keeping this list constantly updated – if any paid shows become free that we feel need to be included, they'll be added too. Scroll through to see our picks that we've divided up into the following categories: drama, comedy and thriller. If you can only watch one... The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Nominated for the Emmy in Outstanding Comedy Series, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel tracks Midge on her rise to the top of the comedy scene in the 1950s. The basic premise of the show is that Midge, a perfect stay-at-home wife, never quite gets the recognition she deserves from her drunk, deadbeat comedian husband. She picks up the mic herself and, as it turns out, is actually funnier than her lesser half. The monologues Midge delivers feel as appropriate for today's audiences as they were for the fictional crowd in the '50s, if not moreso. The result is genuinely funny, inspirational and, above all, human. Check out our in-depth Amazon Prime Video reviewFancy a film? Absentia If you've had a Stana Katic shaped hole in your life since Castle ended in 2016, you'll be glad to know she's starring in a brand new series on Amazon Prime. Animal Kingdom could be what you're looking for. The show follows teenager J Cody who moves in with extended relatives in Southern California after the death of his mother. Far from being boring, Cody finds his relatives live a wild life of excess and it's all funded by crime.Seasons on Amazon Prime: 2  BoschWith 20-something novels to mine for source material, Bosch is a character that was always destined for the small screen. Created by Michael Connelly but brilliantly brought to life by actor Titus Welliver, the series follows the exploits of LA Homicide detective Harry Bosch and features enough grit to pave the longest of driveways. This is no surprise - the series has been created by Eric Overmyer, who was part of the alumni that created The Wire. Bosch is another show that has been put together by Amazon Studios - proving that streaming services are becoming just as powerful as the HBOs of the world when it comes to producing compelling drama.Bosch Season 4 has now landed on Amazon Prime, continuing the saga of Harry Bosch and it comes with a nice uplift in quality too, building season upon season to become one of our favourite shows on Prime at the moment. Number of seasons on Amazon Prime: 4 GoliathBilly Bob Thornton stars as a washed-up lawyer looking for a big break who stumbles on to a big case that may well give him the solace he needs. Made by David E Kelly who loves a bit of courtroom drama, having already created Boston Legal, The Practice and Ally McBeal, the show works well as a standalone series but there's talk that it may get a second season. Goliath is part of Amazon's Original series of TV shows.Seasons on Amazon Prime: 1 Good Girls RevoltLet me set the stage for this one: It's 1969, and there's a war going on in America. The war is being fought in business offices around the country and the group leading the charge are women in the workforce, fighting for equal rights and equal acknowledgement for the work they've performed for years. Good Girls Revolt is set in this backdrop, at a fictional news outlet where the women have for too long been swept under the rug.The show scores major points for its poignant subject matter – both in the way that it covers the struggles of women in the workplace pre-1970, but also in the way it handles talking about the American history that the women in question are tasked with covering. Part raunchy history lesson, part stellar drama, Good Girls Revolt is a smart interpretation of a still-ongoing issue.Seasons on Amazon Prime Instant Video: 1 Hand of GodLast seen in Sons of Anarchy, Ron Perlman has moved from the mad world of biker gangs into the stranger world of law. Perlman plays a vice-riddled barrister who, after suffering a breakdown, starts to believe he is a messenger from god.The full first season for Hand of God arrived on Amazon Prime, after a successful pilot. A second season is also available, which will sadly be the last as Amazon has decided to not renew the show. This is a shame as it may not be a light-hearted ride - but it is one drama that takes dark turn after dark turn and is all the better for it.Seasons on Amazon Prime: 2 The Last TycoonF Scott Fitzgerald may be known for The Great Gatsby and Tender Is The Night but The Last Tycoon - his last and unfinished novel - is perhaps his most ambitious piece of work. It peels away the glitz and glamour of Hollywood in the '30s to show a time when backstabbing was the norm, fascism was on the rise and everyone had an unbelievable amount of money. Kelsey Grammer is superb as movie mogul Pat Brady, while Matt Bomer is also great as Monroe Stahr, the up and coming film exec who wants to make it big. The Last Tycoon is occasionally flawed but it's a sumptuous watch.Seasons on Amazon Prime: 1 Downton AbbeyLike watching fictional posh people live their lives in early-twentieth century opulence? You're not alone – millions of people tuned in to Downton Abbey during its TV run, and it's now available to stream in its entirety on Amazon Prime Video.Following the trials and tribulations of the Crawley family on the titular Downton Abbey estate, it's a kitchen sink drama of sorts – except all the cutlery is made of silver, and it's an army of servants doing the washing up. Seasons on Amazon Prime Video: 7 Sneaky PeteSneaky Pete's plot maybe a little cliche - a con man assumes the identity of someone else to try and make a new break in the world - but Giovanni Ribisi is superb as Marius, the titular character and there's plenty of intrigue to keep you glued to this new Amazon Original. Interestingly, the show is co-created by Bryan Cranston which makes him the streaming king, given he's done so well with Breaking Bad on Netflix. Don't expect Sneaky Pete to be as intense as Breaking Bad - it's a crime caper, yes, but it doesn't take itself too seriously. As of March 2018, the second season of Sneaky Pete has landed on Amazon. The premise is that Marius is on the cusp of starting fresh and leaving all of his mess behind. But that'd hardly make a compelling second season, would it? Luckily for fans he's dragged back into the drama kicking and screaming.Seasons on Amazon Prime: 2 TransparentAnything Netflix can do, Amazon Prime can do better it seems, especially when it comes to winning a Golden Globe. Netflix may have made history by being the first streaming service to win a Golden Globe, courtesy of the acting talents of Kevin Spacey in House of Cards, but Amazon went and topped this by winning the Best TV Show prize in 2014 for Transparent. It was much deserved. Transparent is everything you want in a TV show. It's heartwarming, funny and packs a real punch about a subject that doesn't get enough attention: transgenderism. Jeffrey Tambor's Maura Pfefferman is a television character we hope will be around for a long time. The fourth season will be available to stream from 22 September.Seasons on Amazon Prime: 3 Comedy Alpha HouseOne of the first successes to come from the Amazon Originals program, Alpha House is the antithesis of Netflix's House of Cards. Yes it has a political edge but the back stabbing is replaced with a little bit of rib tickling. John Goodman is superb as one of four US senators shacked up in the same house. While the humor may get a little too dry for some, there's warmth in the cynicism and a strange amount of believability in the characters. If you were to choose one comedy that lampoons US politics then go with Veep - but Alpha House is a decent second.Seasons on Amazon Prime Instant Video: 2  Jean-Claude Van JohnsonOkay, we'll admit this show isn't quite as good as its teaser promised us. But it is still a fun, meta look at the man, the myth Jean-Claude Van Damme who plays, well, Jean-Claude Van Damme. It's only six episodes long but it's a lot of fun, showing Jean as a black-ops spy who has been covering as an actor all along. Yeah, right. This means that he's still an ass-kicking action hero but a real life one. Well, an actor playing an actor playing a black-ops operative who pretends to be an actor. If that sounds like your thing, then Jean-Claude Van Johnson is for you. Seasons on Amazon Prime: 1 CatastropheFrom the minds of Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney comes one of the funniest, most well-written sitcom in years. The plot is slight: a one-night stand turns into a relationship once Sharon announces she is pregnant. But the series contains some of the most cut-to-the-bone humour seen on TV. Combine this with a nice slab of pathos - nestled among many a sex joke - and what you have is a modern classic. The third series, which recently aired on Channel 4, is now available on Amazon Prime Video - it features the last ever performance from the imitable Carrie Fisher.Seasons on Amazon Prime: 3 Comrade DetectiveComrade Detective is a weird gem on Amazon. Starring Channing Tatum and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, the show is a parody of gritty American buddy cop shows and Communist Propaganda from the Cold War.It's an unusual combination, but it works. Each episode is presented as though it's a remastered real episode of a lost Romanian Communist Propaganda series from the 80s which was used to entertain and promote Communist ideals. The entire show was filmed in Romania with Romanian actors and then dubbed over by Tatum and Gordon-Levitt.Seasons on Amazon Prime: 1 The TickWe like a dark twist on the superhero genre as much as the next person, and The Tick delivers it: it's about an accountant with mental health issues, who may or may not be a superhero - it could all be in his head. Peter Serafinowicz is the eponymous Tick, and despite that rather sombre-sounding plot outline, this is a black and surreal comedy worth seeking out.The first half of the first season of The Tick has been on Amazon Prime since 2017, but as of March 2018 the second half is here and it manages to be even more baffling, entertaining and laugh-out-loud funny than the first.Seasons on Amazon Prime: 1 The Grand TourClarkson, Hammond and the other one are back for Grand Tour: Season 2. Well, we kind of knew that they would be as they all have massive contracts that mean we will be seeing quite a few seasons of the Definitely Not Top Gear But Quite A Bit Like Top Gear show. This season sees Clarkson drive a fast car, Hammond drive a faster car and nearly die, and the other one drive a fast car considerably slower than the rest. If you enjoy watching middle aged men burn rubber in the middle of the desert, like a scene out of Mad Max: Fury Road, then this is for you. And if we haven't quite convinced you yet - Gizmodo offered up this quote about the show: "Some men doing stuff for no clearly defined reason." Lovely stuff. Seasons on Amazon Prime: 2 (new episodes weekly) I Love DickRecently graduating from Amazon Originals pilot to fully fledged TV show, I Love Dick is a great subversive watch. The show stars Kevin Bacon and is based on the celebrated book that looks at a married couple who are having marriage issues and their relationship with college professor, Dick. Bacon is on top form as the charismatic Dick and the show's multiple POV storytelling (Rashomon style) works well.Seasons on Amazon Prime Video TV: 1 The Marvelous Mrs. MaiselA new series from Gilmore Girls creator, Amy Sherman-Palladino, The Marvelous Mrs Maisel tells the story of 1950s Jewish housewife Miriam Maisel. After her husband confesses he's been having an affair, Midge drunkenly gets on stage at a comedy club and discovers that she's utterly hilarious. In a time when women aren't encouraged to be publicly funny, Midge pursues her new-found comedic talent in the male-dominated stand up comedy world. Season one is on Amazon now, but a second has already been ordered.Seasons to watch on Amazon Prime: 1 Mad DogsThe UK version of Mad Dogs was a breath of fresh air when it first aired. Well, the first season was then it all went a little too strange. This remake - green-lit from Amazon's burgeoning Originals series - takes the best from the UK version and mixes it with a plot that's a little easier to follow and humour that's more laugh out loud than pitch black. The premise is the same: a bunch of mates go and visit one friend at his luxury villa to celebrate his early retirement, only for murder, mayhem and mind-boggling plot developments to ensue. A touch of genius is the recasting of Ben Chaplin. While he played the rich, retiring Alvo in the UK version here he gets to try his luck in a bigger and better role.Seasons on Amazon Prime: 1 Mozart in the JungleNow into its fourth series, Mozart in the Jungle was this surprise winner at the 2015 Golden Globes, where it won Best Comedy Series. The show is a comedy set in the strange world of classical music. Gael García Bernal plays young conductor Rodrigo who replaces a retiring conductor played by Malcolm McDowell. Based loosely on a true story and created by the likes of Jason Schwartzman and Roman Coppola, it's well worth a watch.Seasons on Amazon Prime Video: 4 Parks and RecreationParks and Rec is a joy of a show. Originally seen as a quasi spin-off of the Office - using the same documentary style camerawork, awkward pauses, asides to camera - it soon grew from an amusing first season, about the goings on in the parks department of Pawnee, to a comedy phenomenon that spanned a fantastic seven seasons. It's not just the script that makes it great, it's also the characters - headed up by the ever-brilliant Amy Poehler.Seasons on Amazon Prime: 7 Red OaksThe '80s is the en vogue decade when it comes to nostalgia. Not only are Seth Gordon and Adam Goldberg mining the era for their superb prime-time sitcom The Goldbergs, Red Oaks has appeared to prove that it is respectable to set shows in the '80s. Amazon-exclusive Red Oaks - made by another Green, this time David Gordon - focuses on David, a tennis player at the Red Oaks country club and his summer shenanigans. Great casting - Jennifer Grey! - some brilliant nods to '80s films, a short run time means this is a series you can eat up in one neon-fuelled sitting. The third and final season is now available to stream in its entirety on Amazon Prime and is a fitting end to one of the best shows around at the moment. Seasons on Amazon Prime Video: 3 Thrillers NEW SEASON: The AmericansThe Americans was cruelly mishandled when it originally came to UK TV, so we are glad it has finally found a decent place to reside. The show is a cracking crime period thriller that follows the exploits of a couple of KGB agents posing as US citizens around the time Ronald Reagan became US president. It may occasionally flit between the ridiculous and the sublime but you would expect nothing more from a show that's main conceit comprises characters duelling with duality. The '80s setting is fantastic, too, though there aren't enough shell suits for our liking. The final sixth season of The Americans has now landed on Amazon (but you have to pay for it), but the fifth season is now available to stream for free with Amazon Prime Video.Seasons on Amazon Prime: 5 Mr RobotThe popularity of Mr. Robot meant that there was something of a bidding war to see who would show it. Amazon, Netflix and other more traditional broadcasters fought for it, proving that even bean counters can see the worth in counter culture.Amazon won in the end and is the perfect place for a show that focuses on the exploits of hacker Elliot (a superb Rami Malek). Mr Robot is Fight Club for the Tor generation, lifting a lid on a world where what Linux kernel you use is not just a badge of honour but a way of life. Now in its third season, Mr Robot is proving to be one of the most addictive things on television right now.Seasons on Amazon Prime Video: 2 Man In The High CastleThere have been a number of successful Amazon pilots that have made it to a full series but none have the epic potential that Man In The High Castle has. This Philip K Dick adaptation is finally available to stream - with all episodes ready for your consumption. High Castle imagines what the world would be like if Germany had won World War II and the Nazis had taken global control. Turns out it's a bit worse than us all driving around in VW Beetles and wearing Hugo Boss coats.Season 2 is now available and expands on the mythos. Given this is a cautionary tale about what could happen when the hard right takes over America, things suddenly don't feel too far fetched.Seasons on Amazon Prime Video: 2 Sons Of AnarchySeemingly always vying for the top spot of Best Recently Finished Drama (we may have made up that award) with Breaking Bad, Sons Of Anarchy is a long brooding menace of a show that deserves your attention. Centred on a motorcycle gang that live by their own rules (you can probably guess what their name is from the title) the show is positively Shakespearean in its storytelling and will have you gripped from episode one. While Ron Perlman steals the show as Clay, Charlie Hunnam's Jax is one of the best tortured souls you will see on any television show. All seven seasons of the show are now streaming on the service.Seasons on Amazon Prime: 7 True BloodOne of the biggest advantages Amazon Prime Instant Video has over Netflix is its massive back-library of HBO programming that will make anyone with a monthly subscription salivate over. While each show could have its own entry on this list we instead chose to highlight the best of the bunch, starting with The Wire. A close, though vastly different second is True Blood, a show about the preternatural, social issues and sex. Lots and lots of sex. And if that  tag line doesn't sell you, nothing will.Seasons on Amazon Prime Instant Video: 6 VikingsIf you have any interest in Norse mythology then the name Ragnar Lothbrok will mean a whole lot to you. Basically he was a king and powerful ruler that was a right git to the English and the French.Vikings is a series that traces his Norse-based goings on with enough charm and scope to take on Game of Thrones in the sword and sandals stakes. Yes it takes a number of liberties with its source material but the acting is top class, as is the cinematography in a historical romp that's now deservedly in its fourth season - the second half of which is now available.Seasons on Amazon Prime: 5 NEW ENTRY: You Are WantedThe first season of this German cybercrime thriller has been on Amazon Prime for just over a year, but now the second season is available too. Set in Berlin, the TV show is about a man called Lukas who has all of his online accounts hacked and gets accused of being involved in criminal, terrorist activity. In the age where it feels like big companies know more about our data than we do, it's a compelling contemporary tale that might leave you feeling like you really go and tweak your privacy settings or delete your online presence altogether.Seasons on Amazon Prime: 2 The best of the rest, and coming soon Tomorrow's WorldTomorrow's World was a ground-breaking BBC documentary series that ran for 38 years from 1965 to 2003. In 2017 the brand was 'revived' as part of a new series that explores the same themes of technology, science and the future as an umbrella brand for BBC's science programming. The latest season has recently landed on Amazon Prime and it covers artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, biometrics, the quest for immortality and how researchers, big corporations, doctors, scientists and inventors are shaping the future. Seasons on Amazon Prime Video: 1 Batman: The Animated SeriesYou've seen all the Nolan and Burton Bat flicks, and you're wisely avoiding the new Batfleck films. If you're still hankering for a Batman fix, you could do far, far worse than jumping into Batman: The Animated Series. Kicking off back in 1992, it bridges the gap of the Burton aesthetic and the comic book series, and is regarded by Batman fans as having perhaps the definitive onscreen take on the Dark Knight. It's ostensibly a kids cartoon, but the ongoing storylines are captivating and stylishly noir-like in delivery. And to cap things off, the voice cast is superb – Kevin Conroy is an assuredly-good Batman (reprising the role for the recent Batman: Arkham games), while Star Wars' own Mark Hamill is a fantastically unhinged Joker.Seasons on Amazon Prime Video: 4 All Or NothingAnyone who wants something to fill their Friday Nights Lights hole need to look no further. This documentary is a superb look at how gruelling a season of American football is. It gives the viewer unprecedented access to the coaches, the staff and, most importantly, the players and it's a fantastic watch. Tying the whole thing together is also some superb narration from Mad Men's Jon Hamm. Grand Prix DriverThis new Amazon Original documentary takes viewers underneath the glitz and glamour that is the surface of Formula 1, to explore the inner-workings of the 2017 McLaren team. Narrated by Michael Douglas, this documentary follows  rookie driver Stoffel Vandoorne over four episodes, as he and his team prepare for the 2017 Formula 1 World Championship. Season on Amazon Prime Video: 1 GrimmMerge a fairy tale fantasy with a police drama and you get Grimm. It's all about Nick Burkhardt, a detective based in Portland in the US who discovers he's a Grimm. Which basically means he's a kind of mystical guardian who must keep the peace between humans and creatures called Wesen. As you might expect, a lot of the characters are inspired by Grimms' Fairy Tales, but the show draws from many other sources too to create a story that's a little like Buffy The Vampire Slayer, but with fairy tale creatures.Seasons on Amazon Prime Video: 6 Coming soon to Amazon Prime: OasisThe works of Michel Faber nearly always translate well to the big and small screen. The Crimson Petal and the White was given a great mini series adaptation by the Beeb in 2001. And Under The Skin is one of the most inventive films ever made. Another one of his works, The Book of Strange Things, has been given the Amazon Originals Pilot treatment. Called Oasis, the show is a twisty opaque look at a priest who is living in a human colony on another planet.  Richard Madden, last seen in Game of Thrones, stars.  Source link
