Rebaldistrap and Akihiroffelees!!

Jack Rebaldi is just… the quintessential Munkustrap imo. Every time i see footage of him, it’s just him being the perfect Munk, and I love him so so much.

And while I can’t find footage of Akihiro Hanebuchi’s Mistoffelees, the images I’ve found of him are just the most regal Mistoffelees!

So i love love love the idea of a Munkoffelees pair who are so regal and proper, but they have such a soft spot for each other. I think they’d be the perfect Munkoffelees within the context of the Jellicles being almost like a kingdom- with the Jellicle Leader and their family being royalty in a way.

So I was looking at a video relating to the Dutch Tour 2006 and I noticed three things:

This cast does not entirely look like the cast I know

That Munkustrap kinda looks like Jack Rebaldi and not Roberto or Pierre

Bombalurina is singing Jemima's part in Memory!

I was so confused but I think I figured it out. I'm fairly sure it was (at least partially) the last German Tour cast (which is why I recognised Jack Rebaldi) with some members of the then upcoming Dutch Tour cast. The actress playing Bomba in the German Tour was Dutch so she might have been the only one able to sing the part at the time... Still, I love love love Bombalurina joining in in Memory!

Mark John Richardson! They who hold the records for most performances of Misto, and also longest period between first and last performance of Misto. 1998—2015, in the UK, Denmark, Germany, and various tours.

Misto is their thing.

But yes, they have played other roles. Most notably, they played Pouncival and Carbuckety a little at first, in the London and Berlin productions, while just covering Mistoffelees.

Besides that? Well... in their first year with the London cast they were actually a swing, covering a lot of roles! I know I had a converation with them about this, and I added this paragraph into their wiki page:

Hoorah for me for adding a link to the source; however, boo to the fact that the source now ends at a 'page not found' link. Presumably the conversation was in comments on one of their own posts rather than mine, and they've changed their username since, so the link broke.

But yes: for their first year, they covered multiple roles, including some you wouldn't associate with a Pounce/Misto actor, and if the 'big boy' requirements were too much then one of the other boys would cover those parts of the track.

But after that first year, they were exclusively Pounce-cover-Misto, and then just. Misto.

I do know that when they auditioned it was mostly for the Misto track (and Pounce as cover) because I remember another conversation which was about the Gumbie tap solo, which, at the time of auditioning, Misto led—so they had to prove they could do that!—but it got phased out very soon after.

asking you the same question bc I'm curious now- what would your dream demestrap actor combination be and what is your favorite actual demestrap combination?

I would be really interested to see what Lauren Louis/Mariasoosay and Alexander Auler would come up with as a demestrap dynamic! I love Lauren's performance and voice and I always wished I could see Auler because the clips I saw of him always gave me good Munk vibes. I feel like with him as a partner Lauren could let the more mature aspects of her Demeter shine though, as opposed to having to work with the sort of boyish attitudes brought on by her costars. Plus they're both gorgeous dksjgdbsdg

I'd also REALLY LOVE to see Aeva May with Jack Rebaldi!!!! His Munk is just so strong, I think they'd make an insane pair. Like the couple you look up to and do not mess with. They both bring a kind of intensity and complexity to the characters and I think it could make for a more serious, maybe even slightly darker production. Throw a strong Macavity in the mix like Aiden Pressel and it'd be off the charts

But unsurprisingly my favorite actual pair is Michael Gruber and Aeva May <3 I would honestly kill to have seen them with the revival blocking/more Demestrap moments. They don't get much 'alone time' in 98 but the moments they do have are so visceral in an easy-going way, it's like "yeah these two belong together." Like just LOOK at them. perfection

Hello and good morning/afternoon/evening! I hope you're having a wonderful day. I consider myself kinda a new fan of Cats (I've slowly become obsessed with it since the beginning of the pandemic) and I've been enjoying the posts of the fandom here in Tumblr.

I really, really like Munkustrap and my first fav actor of him is Michael Gruber. But then I started to dwell in the Munk actors pit hole and I fell in love with Alexander Auler's & Jack Rebaldi's portrayals of him. It caught my eye with how tall they looked from the rest of the cast. I found out on the internet that Alex Auler is around 193 cm-ish..? but I cannot seem to find out about how tall Jack Rebaldi was when he played Munkustrap. I was wondering if maybe you know his height as Munks? I'm really curious after seeing so many gifs, pics, and vids of him towering over everybody lol

There's not much information available regarding Jack Rebaldi's official height measurements. The closest I can find is a fan account that met him that mentions he's "six foot" (182-ish cm). I would theorize then it's safe to say he's at least 182cm, though I cannot be more accurate than that, I'm afraid.

If you're looking for tall Munks that heights are confirmed, Ivan Ozhogin clocks in at 193 cm as well.
