This is a special piece that's pretty tough to get right. The blue effect will burn on a third firing if the temperature is too hot, and gold/pearl lusters won't adhere if the temperature is too low. Fun fact, the ideal temp is ~ 666掳C in my test kiln 馃槇
She has real roe deer antlers and a wooden base. The pattern on the wooden base is that of my nan's old wallpaper, which I digitized from an old photo and recreated to line up in a repeating manner, as the original would have. Since rabbits used to live on the property, I figured it would suit this rabbit rather well.
I've been meaning to work on her since October, but now she is happily mounted and watching over my living room. I've named her Irina.
2-color riso printed in black and metallic gold. My contribution from last year to Collective Conscience V, the 5th edition of Push/Pull鈥檚 biannualish member zine.
~2mm color offset in the printing is really charming tbh, and considering how many pages and colors this zine ended up being (and how old this printer is), it鈥檚 not bad.
I can definitely understand why so many people seem to be obsessed with riso lately. It鈥檚 all the fun of screen printing with significantly less mess, but a lot more printer (and ink barrel) wrangling. (And to be clear, I didn鈥檛 print the zine. That was all Maxx!)
3D aspects of art have never been my strong suit, so layering on 3+ colors and understanding how each layer interacts with the one below it is hard for me (I feel like this tiger is the extent of my multi-color layering abilities lol), but it鈥檇 be fun to explore the options more.
decided to make another sona bc ive been going thru a bit of an identity crisis lately
this is chanterelle!! theyre a bat-winged wolpertinger
theyre constantly confused about everything all the time, literally "huh? whuh??" incarnate, though they usually keep to themself and are pretty quiet
the darker fur on their face is supposed to give off the impression of a mask and being in shadow since i thought it would be cute and fitting
probably couldve made this drawing look more polished but i havent had too much energy to draw in general lately, im just glad to finally have some sort of ref done for chanterelle haha
A bit of background: I saw this reposted earlier, without credit, and so was doing a reverse image search to find a source. Happily, this one was much easier to find than the other two I did earlier today! So rather than reblog that other one along with additions, I figured I'd make a post with the artist info, and a better (and watermarked) version of the art.
As you can see from the tag above, the artist, Lyndsey Green, has a Tumblr, although it has not been updated since 2017. She appears now to be more active on Twitter and Instagram, as well as her own website, a Shopify storefront, and an Etsy shop.
The jackalopes above were done for a little Jackalopia zine, which is available in her shops. She did make a Tumblr post about that when it first came out, which I'll reblog along with this.
