Jaebum AU Series
Tumblr media
Chubby (8)
pairing: im jaebum x reader
genre: drama, romance, angst
plot: bleeding hands, and a bleeding heart or two
a/n: its real rusty lmao not edited, real rusty, read at your own riskhi, im back. it has been a long time so my style of writing has changed and its so rusty so go easy on me. hope y’all like it tho! i do!!
Tuesday purred against your leg as you retreated from Jaebum’s bathroom.
“Where’s your brother?” You brushed his soft grey fur as your eyes scanned for Jaebum. It was strange that he hadn’t made himself visible yet, or tried to make sure you were okay again.
But, this was better in a way, it gave you a minute to gather yourself.
What happened earlier today was the first time, and it was horrible. Just the thought of those dirty hands and their filthy gaze threatened for bile to rise up your throat once again.
You didn’t want to know how worse everything would’ve gotten if Jaebum didn’t show up.
You didn’t want to know what would happen if you remained as pathetically scared as you were in that room.
You sighed as you threw your head back, letting the light ceiling cover your vision. You felt tears prickle your eyes, but you pushed them back. You didn’t feel like you had the right to cry, not after you let that happen to yourself.
Why couldn’t I fight back?
Everything else that you suffered through, you do it because you deserved it. Because you let it happen to her; you let so much worse happen to her. But even she wouldn’t have stood for this; heck even Jenny would have saved you. All and everyone would save you, all except yourself. You had no one else to blame, but yourself. You let yourself become so pathetic, so weak, so disgusting.
Tee must’ve felt your sadness as he snuggled closer to your legs. He meowed softly, as he rubbed his softness against you. It was almost as if he was telling you that it’s okay, that next time, just fight harder.
You scooped him up into your arms, before twirling him gently. You nuzzled your face into him, as he purred in delight.
“I’m sorry, Tee,” you whispered to him, “I’ll try to get better.”
Just as the words left your lips, you heard the door code be entered. Jaebum strutted in with a handful of the cold winter raging outside.
“Hi,” you whispered softly, as you walked up to him and took the bags from him.
Jaebum froze for a second, before smiling brightly at you.
“Hi,” he beamed as his eyes began tearing up. “It’s been a while since I was welcomed back home.”
It was now your turn to freeze in your spot as Jaebum shook his head, dismissing the tears. He cleared his throat before, taking the bags from you and walking towards the kitchen.
Your heart broke as you stared at Jaebum making his way through the kitchen like he knew it like the back of his hand. He wasn’t even looking at the cupboards as he perfectly placed everything in its place. Instead of a homey familiarity, you saw a lonely boy who did everything by himself, enough to know every aspect of his house as if it were a part of him.
You took a step towards him, as you studied his dark hair moving with him. The different shades of brown and black shining and mingling under the fluorescent lights of his kitchen. His hands strong, arms long, him; comfortable and warm like home.
You sighed as you looked at him, not knowing exactly what you were feeling. All you knew that it was happiness and warmth.
“Is ramen okay for dinner?” Jaebum looked up at you, as he nervously scratched the back of his head.
You kindly smiled at him as you nodded. Anything is fine with you; everything is perfect with you.
“Great,” he smiled nodding, before holding up a container. “The old lady next door gave us some side dishes!” He shook it victoriously making you chuckle slightly before you noticed the blur of colours spreading over his hands.
The smile instantly fell from your lips, as your brows furrowed in concern.
“Jaebum?!” You gasped as you raced to his side. You hurriedly placed the boxes down on the counter before clasping his hands in yours. You inspected the deepening purple, blue and dried blood swelling on his hands. Your heart hurt seeing this.
Your teary eyes peered up to meet his dreamy brown ones, taken aback as he stared at you, bewildered.
“Does it not hurt?” You whispered to him, however along the softness and worry, there was anger. “Come on, let’s get you cleaned up.”
There was anger, so much of it; too much of it. It consumed every inch of you as you pulled Jaebum to the bathroom and made him sit on the cabinet as you pulled out the safety kit.
You slammed the clear box on the white surface, before whipping it open and reaching for Jaebum’s hand. Despite your furiously racing breathing and sharp actions, your touch on Jaebum was so soft it was scarcely touching him.
“This will sting a bit,” you told him, concentrating on the dampening cotton.
You tried to ignore Jaebum’s heated gaze that remained on you. He watched you and refused to look away.
He smiled as he saw the way your brows furrowed adorably in anger and concentration. His chest filled with warmth as he noticed the frown on your lips from the worry you felt for him. Jaebum felt happy seeing you care about him.
A hiss left his lips as the alcohol burned his cuts.
Your gaze immediately snapped up to meet his in worry.
“Are you okay? Does it hurt too much?” The words left you a hundred miles a second. “Just hold on for one more second; it’ll be over. Just count back from ten for me.”
Jaebum just nodded, as he tilted his head to the side to watch you better.
You gently blew on his bruising knuckles as you cleaned it with alcohol. It didn’t hurt anymore, Jaebum noticed. It felt nicer now, it felt sweeter. It made him feel lightheaded.
Despite what Jaebum felt inside, the panic and anger inside you would not reside. Especially with the little winces, Jaebum failed to hide. You applied the cream in silence trying to calm yourself down, but as the process began to wrap up, you were nowhere near your dawn.
You pinned the bandage securely in its place, but instead of moving away, you placed your hands on either side of Jaebum holding him in place.
“Are you stupid?” You glared at him, finally voluntarily meeting his eyes.
“Huh?” Jaebum stared at you, eyes widened, unsure of how to react.
“Huh?” You mocked, before biting your lips to hold in the tears. “Don’t you see how you get yourself hurt to help others? Do you realise how dangerous it was today?
“I get that you’re the bad boy of the school and what not, but there were three of them and one of you. Do you realise how bad this could’ve ended up on the flip side? And not to mention--”
“And what about you?” Jaebum cut you off. The surprise and confusion replaced with anger of his own. “What if something happened to you? Do you think I could just walk away when I saw you like that?!”
You took a step away from him as you shook your head.
“It is not your job to protect me!” You stared at the wall as angry tears escaped you. You couldn’t look at Jaebum. You couldn’t show him how pathetic you truly were. “Stop trying to save me, Jaebum!”
“Why? Why not?” He asked after a moment, his voice calm, but the anger still lingered. “Even if it wasn’t you I would’ve done the same-”
“But it was me!” You turned around to meet his gaze. The tears were now falling; the shame, disgust, the pathetic little girl out on display. “Jaebum you don’t understand; I don’t deserve to be saved.”
“Fuck! Stop it.” Jaebum groaned as he kicked the sink behind him. His hands ran through his hair as frustration roared through him. “Stop fucking acting like you are beyond saving-- like you don’t deserve to be loved and taken care of.
“Stop fucking being like this, y/n. Because whatever you think, it is not true,” Jaebum sighed, as he stepped closer to you. His eyes burned with an emotion you couldn’t comprehend, as he held your shoulders softly. “I am here, y/n. Despite everything that you believe, I am here. And I will stay here; not for you, but for me.”
You looked into Jaebum’s eyes and you felt your stomach drop. You didn’t understand a single thing they tried telling you. You couldn’t decode the glistening of his eyes; you couldn’t hear what he was trying to whisper. But you could understand it, and it was tearing you apart.
Everything that you had believed in. Everything that made you who you were was all getting challenged in this small white bathroom, and it made your gut twist.
But more than that, it was him. He, who stood in front of you. His eyes staring at you like you were a mystery so beautifully complicated. He, who tiredly sighed and rested his forehead against yours. He, who’s hands slipped from your shoulders to your waist, drawing your body closer to his, and into an embrace.
He, who was breaking your walls down with every passing second, brushed a strand of hair from face.
It was him who made you feel safe enough to step out of the room you had hidden in. He made you feel like deserved to stop drowning.
“You make me so happy, y/n,” he whispered, as he closed his eyes, “I will protect you until I am nothing.”
You crumbled in his arms, as your hands fisted the hem of his shirt.
“Please, Jaebum,” you rested your head on his shoulder, as he hid his face in your hair. “Please stop this if you’re only going to break me.”
Jaebum chuckled as he moved away from you.
“Do you listen to anything that I say, kid?” He smiled at you with the warmth of a thousand suns. You tried to reply with one just as bright, but all you could offer was one broken down and wasted in a thousand stormy nights.
However, it was enough for him.
Jaebum placed a kiss on your forehead, before holding you close once more.
You couldn’t understand Jaebum. You couldn’t comprehend his actions. You didn’t understand how he entered the story your grandma had told you a thousand times.
You already had a castle tower that locked you away. You had a fierce dragon that reminded you of it endlessly, guarding you captive.
All you ever missed was a prince, a saviour; but he was the only one you didn’t believe in. You didn’t believe anyone to ever find you in this far away land.
But there he stood, his white shirt flowing in the wind, as the dragon breathed restlessly, and your heart raced in your chest.
There he stood against all odds, and there you were, turning away from the skylight. There you were blinding yourself of the only star in this endless night. There you were addicted to your shackles.

Jaebum AU
one / two / three / four / five / six / seven / eight / nine / eleven / twelve / thirteen
Tumblr media
Genre: Drama, Romance, Mature Plot: Everything that happens, happens for a reason. The reason why Jaebum wasn’t by your side anymore, was because you took his heart and tore it to shreds.  a/n: this is a flashback of sorts from the past, to set the scene for the next few parts which may be the final. one/two!  hope y’all enjoy it!
You adjusted the falls of your pale red dress by your feet one last time, to make sure it doesn’t hinder the path of your red heels. You could already feel the blisters forming and the hurting of your feet, but you welcomed it.
You needed the distraction.
One last shaky breath left you as you heard the murmur of the guests from the other side of the door. You straightened your shoulders before giving a subtle nod to the doorman letting him know you were ready to enter the glamorous jungle.
It was the night of your parent’s anniversary, and you were getting nervous with every passing second. It wasn’t due to the room full of people ready to scrutinize your every move; no, it was just one person.
One dark-haired boy with eyes that sparkled brighter than the stars whenever they met yours.
According to rumours, Jaebum was back in town and making his comeback at your parent’s anniversary party.
You rubbed your sweaty palms on a tissue, as you checked your hair in the mirror for the hundredth time.
You watched the girl in the mirror, and felt a surge of pride as you saw how beautiful and confident she looked. She wasn’t the little girl Jaebum held left all those months ago.
Jaebum’s little girl was gone.
You walked through the high doors, and the room unmistakably quietened at your entrance. You returned the smiles of everyone, nodding here and there, being poised and graceful like it was your second nature.
Hiding your pounding heart wasn’t that difficult for you. You were taught as a child how to hide all of your feelings, except for your happiness and arrogance.
You had missed Jaebum so much.
There wasn’t a single day that past and you hadn’t thought of him and waited for him to return.
The knowledge of him being part of the sea, present, to celebrate your parent's marriage made excitement jolt through you.
You were finally going to see him. and that excitement caused deep resentment to swirl inside you. You were disgusted at the butterflies and the lightness of your heart as you thought of his dark eyes meeting yours.
Nonetheless, your eyes scanned the place over and over again, looking for the familiar boy with eyes like the crescents of the moon and a smile so pure it melted your heart.
However, you couldn’t find him anywhere; he hadn’t come.
You let out a wry chuckle at the stupid little girl that had hoped he would come tonight.
The boy whose arms you were in, gave you a weird look, before asking if you were okay.
You shook your head with a sad, yet humoured smile, and told him, it was nothing.
He returned a skeptic smile but shrugged it off before twirling you around, making you giggle slightly.
“There’s that beautiful smile,” Jackson grinned, as you met his eyes. Your cheeks tinted pink, but not because of butterflies, but because of the awkwardness that rushed through you.
“Mind if I cut in, Jackson?” A familiar voice, filled with discrete authority, asked making you freeze in your spot.
“If it’s alright with y/n-”
“I’m sure she wouldn’t mind,” even without looking over at him, you could tell he had that stupid cocky smirk on his face. It was an expression reserved only for the of the rest world. Jaebum barely ever used it in any of the private moments you shared together.
You could tell his smirk was growing into a victorious grin, as Jackson let go of you slowly.
“Thank you.” Jaebum gave him a polite smile before he stepped in front of you.
His dark eyes scanned your face with a hard expression, as you stood there frozen staring at him.
He reached out to you, circling an arm around your waist, pulling you in closer as he took a step towards you.
Jaebum held you closer than Jackson or any of the other guys you dance with did. He placed his hands on you with authority and certainty, like he had the right; like this was what his hands were meant to do.
He brought your bodies close together, as his touch seeped through your dress, burning brightly against your skin.
Your chest heaved as the air around you shifted, igniting, heavy with electricity.
His large warm hands held yours softly, as you moved in closer. Your chest pressed against one another, and your heart pounding so loud, you were sure he could hear it too.
His breath fell over your exposed shoulder; the warmth softly kissing your skin, raising tiny goosebumps in its wake.
“How have you been?” His deep low voice asked you.
Your fingers dug into his shoulders; the black coat creasing under your grip, as you tried to remain calm and unaffected.
You looked away from his eyes that were holding you prisoner in those brown orbs, glowing with affection and passion.
“I’ve missed you,” he breathed softly, as his lips lightly kissed your forehead. “I missed you so fucking much, y/n.”
His words pricked your heart with such softness, as you felt the wall you had raised begin to crack. Just a few simple words from Jaebum and you were befalling back into the palms of his hands.
You closed your eyes as they began burning red with the tears you had shut away since the night you had returned.
This was everything that you were so terrified off. You were scared seeing Jaebum would make you weak again. That maybe he would make you believe there was a way to make the past better.
You were scared that you would fail down the same hole, and be stuck in the same dark room again. So, you ran away from it.
You were scared, so you ran.
You were running away from the only person who had the power to make you happy again.
But you were already doing it.
You took a step back and rested your hands on Jaebum’s chest to hold him back.
“I can’t,” you whispered, hoarsely, felling your throat close up.
“I didn’t miss you.” You lied, and Jaebum could tell you were too.
His fingers grasped your wrist as he looked at you in question.
“What’s wrong?” He asked you softly, and your heart broke.
Your heart broke as you looked at his beautiful face and saw it was coloured in confusion. Your heart broke because you knew that confusion is about to turn into something so much uglier.
What you were going to do was horrible, not just to yourself, but to him as well.
“I don’t like you, Jaebum,” you told him, keeping your eyes cast away from him.
“What?” He asked, even more puzzled.
You lifted your eyes, meeting his squarely.
You removed all the regret and sorrow that was swelling inside of you. Instead, you replaced it with a sinister gaze, that matched the malicious tone of yours. You threw in a smile of pure wickedness that would soon become your signature smile.
“Get over yourself, Jaebum.” Your smile grew, though your heart ached, as you watched his face sink with despair and surprise. “You’re not my type. I won’t ever like you; even if you were the last guy on earth. So, just stay out of my way.”
You ripped your wrists from his grip, before turning away from him.
“Y/n,” Jaebum called out, as you tried getting lost in the sea of bodies.
However, his voice kept on calling out to you.
You felt him following you until you finally stood out on the balcony.
You gripped the dark railings, your knuckles turning white as you tried to contain everything you felt. You peered out into the distance and watched the golden lights twinkle with traffic.
The cold wind rushed past you, but you didn’t feel it. Your skin burned hot, as goosebumps rose all over it. You were seething with anger at yourself, and your situation.
Why did you have to be this way?
You heard Jaebum escape the labyrinth of the ball inside, and join you outside. He didn’t let out a meek to let you know it’s him, but you knew it was.
You could tell by the heaviness in the fall of his steps, by the rhythm of his breath. You could tell by the heat of his gaze burning your back. You could tell by the way your heart wriggled painfully in its cage at the thought of hurting him.
You heard him let out a breath, and you know he was going to say something. But you didn’t want to hear it.
You didn’t want it to make your weak.
You reached inside you, and tucked away all your emotions, except for anger.
“What Jaebum?” You turned towards him, your voice filled with rage and annoyance to hide the blinding pain of your heart.
“I don’t know why you’re being like this. And we can talk about it later. Tomorrow, maybe? But, I got you this,” he replied, pulling out a box from his jacket.
How can you be so stupid, Jaebum? How can you so adorably simple? So lovingly stupid?
You took the box from his grasp; without even a glace at the velvety box, you threw it behind him in a fit of anger.
“God damn it, Im Jaebum!” You groaned as tears threatened to spill. “Leave me the fuck alone!”
You hurriedly moved away from him, as a tear slipped from your cheek.
Your steps got faster and louder in your red heels, as you got closer to the door.
You felt the blisters painfully pulling at your skin, but you welcomed the pain.
You felt something press beneath your shoe, as a crunch rang through the air, but you ignored it and raced home instead.

Jaebum AU
one / two / three / four / five / six / seven / nine / ten / eleven
Tumblr media
Pairing: Im Jaebum x Reader
Genre: Drama, Romance, Mature
Plot: When the nights are cold and full of monsters, all you need is the warmth of someone to make it all disappear.
a/n: I will finish this before 15 april lol, i already have so many other series planned. but, i hope y’all enjoy this!
You stood outside Jaebum’s door with sweaty palms and a pounding heart.
It was well past one in the morning, and you knew you were going to suffer through another sleepless night if you just simply lay in bed.
After scrolling through the same google articles about ways to sleep without drugs. Jaebum’s words from that afternoon in the garden flashed through your mind.
If you ever have those nightmares again, I’m less than a door away.
‘That’s right,’ you nodded as you tried to reassure yourself. You didn’t come here on your own will, you were just taking up his offer so you don’t be rude.
You were cruel, manipulative, but rude you were not.
You let out a deep sigh as you fisted your hands and brought it up to the wooden door standing tall in front of you.
You quickly landed three short knocks on his door; your lips caught between your teeth, and your nails biting faster into your palms.
You watched the light peering from underneath the door, and you felt somewhat relieved.
You were glad you weren’t waking Jaebum up from his slumber because your monsters were clawing at your feet during dark nights like tonight. You didn’t want to burden him with your problems.
He shouldn’t have to share it anyway; he was your husband only in name. He was your husband, simply because he was your groom.
Jaebum shouldn’t have to deal with your problems.
“Hi,” Jaebum’s suited body greeted you with a raised eyebrow and somewhat surprised face.
“Hi,” you replied, meekly, as you wrapped the silky gown tighter around your body. “I couldn’t sleep, so I’m here to take up your offer.”
Jaebum’s lips quirked with an amused smile, making you glare at him in return.
“I’m thankful that you did.” He replied, bringing a hand up to his heart in a dramatic gesture, bowing slightly, as he moved to the side letting you step through.
“I didn’t want to be rude,” you responded with your chin high, as your body brushed past his.
You were lying in his bed, under the dark green covers of his king size bed.
You smiled as you took a deep breath in; the sheets smelled off Jaebum.
From far away, you’d think he’d smell like an expensive man in expensive cologne. That scent was there, but it was so miniscular, it was hidden beneath everything his warmth carried naturally.
Jaebum smelled like the peak of a wintery mountain. He smelled of the rainforest, rain and of laundry and soap.
You felt like you were crazy, thinking about how Jaebum smelt. Even crazier for remembering how smelt over all the years you’ve known him.
In the beginning, he smelt of cake and freshly baked cookies. You always found that a bit off on someone who barely entered the kitchen, but you still welcomed it.
You would always steal a sniff while playing house, then fight Jaebum, when he’d notice and call you out on it.
“I see you still like sniffing things,” Jaebum’s voice made you jump in your spot.
You pulled the blanket from your nose and turned to him with accusation in your voice.
“I see you’re still imaging things,” you retorted with a confident voice, even though your heart was failing to return to its calm beat, after being caught in your crime.
Jaebum shot you an eye roll, before turning off the lights as he walked towards the bed.
“You know, if you were in Harry Potter,” you told Jaebum as he stood on the other side of the bed, untying his robe as he looked at you. “You’d probably be in Slytherin?”
Jaebum gave you an annoyed look, as he pulled the robe off his shoulders revealing his bare chest. Your cheeks painted red, and you tried to look away, but you didn’t want to seem weak.
Therefore, instead of following the hardness and curves of his stomach and toned chest that called out to you. You zeroed into his eyes with a straight face.
“We took the tests as kids, y/n,” he sighed, as he lifted the blankets beside you. “I was in Gryffindor.”
“We both know that was just your hero complex, and your desire to be like Harry Potter that took the quiz, not the real you.” You rolled your eyes at him, as the lazy smile danced on his pink lips.
“Yeah, well, it is what it is,” he grinned at you. “I am in Gryffindor.”
“But truly belong in Slytherin,” you sang teasingly.
“Just because you’re in it,” he stuck his tongue out before he lay down beside you. “You always want me beside you, don’t you?”
“Do not,” you retorted instantly.
“Then what’s this?” He smiled at you, with a challenging gaze.
“I’m just taking up your offer,” you pouted, before frowning. “However, if it’s too much of an inconvenience then I’ll just leave.”
You trailed off, as you began climbing out.
Before you could properly peel the sheets off yourself, Jaebum grabbed onto your wrist and pulled you down beside him.
He wrapped his arms around you and hid your face in the crook of his neck.
“Stay,” was all his soft low voice said.
Jaebum’s fingers ran through your hair, calming you and your racing heart, as his other hand wrapped around your waist. Your chest pressed against his bare one; the heat of his skin burning through the flimsy silk of your nightdress.
“Why were you still wearing your suit when I knocked?” You hummed softly, as you finally rested your hands on his skin.
You bit your lip to hide the giddy smile that was threatening to spill as you felt little jolts spark run from your palms and travel up your arm.
“Because I was still working,” he sighed, as his fingertips drew small circles on your lower back.
“So late?” You asked and felt him nod.
“One can say I’m a workaholic,” he paused for a moment, before changing the subject. “What about you? Why’d you come so late?”
You swallowed the lump that was forming in your throat, managing to reply in a raspy voice.
“I had another nightmare, and you told me that I could come over, so I did.”
“You did the right thing. Well done, y/n,” he commented, as he hugged you tighter.
You both lay in silence for a few minutes, lost in thought and the sounds of your gentle heartbeats.
“What happens in your nightmare?” he asked, softly.
“It’s different parts of the same torture, but it’s always the same theme: me getting kidnapped.” You spoke after a few moments. “Some days they are taking me away. In some, I’m in the same dark room again, and I’m crying and yelling but no one can hear me. Sometimes, I hear them laugh through the door, and I try to stay quiet so they don’t come inside.”
“Y/n,” Jaebum blew out softly, as you choked on the threatening tears. “You don’t have to say it-”
“No,” you cut him off, quietly. “I’ve never told anyone this, and maybe this will help, you know?”
You felt him nod against the top of your head, and you smiled lightly.
“The worst of the nightmare is when I get home.
“No one cared, Jaebum.” You shook your head with the bad memory replaying, not noticing your nails digging into Jaebum’s lower back.
“They didn't ask me if I was alright, or if I was hurt. All they did was do damage control.” You smiled cynically at the memory of you returning home to your family.
Your parents weren’t worried about you at all.
Their faces were calculating their next moves on how to keep this away from the public. They didn’t care for the scars you had etched on your body, all they cared about was how to hide them.
“I cried for hours that night. I cried and cried, and I wished someone had walked into my room earlier and have realised I was gone. I wished someone would’ve found me sooner.”
You let out a shaky breath, as you fisted the blankets between Jaebum and you.
That night when you had returned, you wished with all your heart that Jaebum was there. That this moment was the moment he fulfilled his promise and returned back from wherever his parents took him.
You had stared at the door, and counted to a hundred a million times, hoping Jaebum would walk in any second.
“What I really wanted- needed- that night was for someone to walk in through those doors, and just hold me and tell me that I was okay, that I would get through this.”
That was the night you got over everyone and everything.
That night you let go of Jaebum completely and shut him out. You wouldn’t even open up to your sister anymore, and you gave up on your parents entirely.
“But no one did,” you hiccuped, as the memory closed on your throat. “No one gave me a second glance, while I waited in my room for them. No one came to help me because it was my sister’s birthday party downstairs.”
“I’m here now,” Jaebum whispered into your hair, as held you close to his flushed body. “I’m sorry I wasn’t there for you then, but I’m here now, and I’ll always be here.”
“I will protect you with everything that I have and am, y/n,” he moved back, his eyes searching your face, before staring into yours.
Even in the dim lit room, glittering in the moonlight, you could see the raw emotions of love and affection dance in his eyes.
You gulped under his intense gaze, as he looked at you as if you were the stars and moon on a cloudless summer night.
“I promise. I will keep you safe,” he whispered, his hot minty breath falling on your parted lips.
“You are so fucking magnificent, y/n.” He pressed his forehead against yours, as he squeezed his eyes shut.
His large tender hands brushed the sides of your faces, as one tucked a loose strand behind your ear.
“If you knew how much you meant to me,” his lazy smile returned to his lips, but as his eyes opened again, the same loving emotions remained. “You would think I’m stupid.”
You watched as his eyes trailed down to your lips for a few moments, before meeting your dark ones again.
You felt yourself do the same, and you gulped with nervousness.
One hand of his, dropped to your waist, squeezing it ever so slightly. You moved closer to his body, leaving no distance between your bodies.
Your palms lay flat against his chest, the hasty beating of his heart vibrating through your veins making you dizzy as it mingled with your own.
“You’re lucky then,” you whispered, breathless,  as you moved closer to him.
Your lips hovered over his, and you noticed the nervous bobbing of his Adam's apple.
His dark brown eyes stared at you, and you grinned up at him.
“You’re lucky because I think you’re the biggest fool I’ve ever met.”
You placed your hands on the side of his face before gently placing your lips on his.
You smiled at the softness of his lips, and the faintly tightening grip of hands on your body. You smiled as you felt a jolt of happiness rush through you, as he kissed you back,
You moved away from the lingering kiss, as you bit your lip nervously.
“But I’m starting to think I’m a bigger fool.”
You peered into his eyes feeling your lips tingle from the innocent peck, as your hearts beat faster than it did before.
You smiled at him with the softness of the cold winter morning breeze, and Jaebum returned one that filled your heart with sunshine.
“You have no idea how crazy you drive me, y/n,” Jaebum told you with dark eyes and tender words. His fingertips lightly brushed the stray hair away from your face.
“You can tell me anything you want, Jaebum,” you whispered back, in a low voice. “But, I won’t believe half it.”
Jaebum smiled at that and returned the knowing grin.
“So just believe this one thing,” he whispered into your ear, as he tucked your head to his beating heart. “I will always back to you.”
You sunk closer into his arms, welcoming the heaviness of your eyes Jaebum’s heat brought.
“And so will my heart.” You heard his low voice breath before you fell into a peaceful slumber after a long long time.

Characters: Im Jaebum x Reader
Genre: Drama, Romance, Mature
Plot: No matter how heartless you acted, you would always give in for her happiness
a/n: help me. uni is draining me, but i’m glad i wrote this before hand. i hope y’all enjoy
The bells on the door of the coffee shop chimed as you made your entrance. Your eyes scanned the little area searching for the familiar face. She must’ve noticed your entry because she rose a hand to get your attention.
Your lips curled into a nasty smirk, as you walked towards her. Her face was pale with worry, and her fingers fidgeted on the table, nervously, with two cups of coffee waiting for you.
“Thank you for being able to meet me on such a short notice,” you greeted her, your words meaning business, but your tone was a backhanded remark. You shot her a smile, as you looked at the coffee she had chosen.
“Oh my god, sister!” You replied in humoured shock, bringing a hand to your chest. “You remembered my favourite drink! I thought you had got a dangerous disease that made you forget about everyone, but yourself.”
You sipped on the milky coffee, as you saw her fists clench and unclench on the table, as she swallowed anxiously.
“I don’t know where to start, y/n,” your older sister sighed, softly. Those were her first words to you since she left your’s and Jaebum’s family to deal with the damage of her reckless actions.
“An apology and explanation is a great place to start,” you told her folding your hands in front of you, with a haughty smile.
You weren’t going to show her how nervous you were, or how your heart was shaking from the inside. You were glad to see her alright, and you were happy to see that she was living happily. But you didn’t want her to have the satisfaction of being accepted back with arms wide open.
“I’m sorry, y/n,” she started quietly, her eyes on the table, frantic. “I couldn’t do it.
I couldn’t marry him.”
You snorted at that, but she continued.
You felt sorry for her. You really did, but you couldn’t find it in yourself to forgive her. Her reasons for just not being able to marry him and hurting everyone in the path was unforgivable. She hurt your parents, Jaebum’s parents, you and mostly Jaebum.
You didn’t talk about it, and your sister probably failed to see, but there was always a sadness lurking in Jaebum’s eyes. A kid who was heartbroken and needed love to be repaired lived in those dark pools. Your sister, who didn’t see it or saw it and choose to ignore, and hurt him even more, making him even more miserable than he ready was.
You couldn’t forgive your sister because she couldn’t tell Jaebum that she wanted outs. You couldn’t forgive her because she almost ruined him completely; his reputation and him as a human. You couldn’t forgive her for hurting Jaebum because her nerves got the best of her.
“I thought I could do it. I was preparing myself for it from the moment our wedding was decided, but when the day game...” She sighed, tiredly as she shook her head. Her dull eyes lifted from the table and met yours, as she tried to make you believe her.
“I was in love with him, y/n,” her breath came out shaky. “I couldn’t let him suffer like that.”
You stared at your sister in disbelief.
There she went again; acting like the whole good of the world depended on her selfless decisions. As if her decision of not showing up on her wedding day was saving everyone involved.
“If you loved Jaebum; you should’ve been the one exchanging the vows with him, not me.” You replied, through gritted teeth.
“No,” she shook her head, instantly. “I don’t love Jaebum. We never saw each other that way.”
Your brows scrunched in confusion as you tried to understand what she was saying.
Your mind went back to the time you both were lying in bed, and you saw the hickey on her neck. She had giggled and told you it was from someone special. She showed you her letters and mixtapes that the person who had marked her neck gave to her.
She never told you a name, but she didn’t have to. You had always assumed it was Jaebum, anyways.
“Then,” you breathed confused. “Who gave you the hickeys, and the love letters?”
She bit her lip as she looked at the table.
“There’s something you should know,” she let out a deep breath, gathering all her courage. “The reason I didn’t show up that morning was that I took a test.”
She met your eyes trying to make you understand, but you couldn’t get her.
“It came out positive, y/n.” A smile was now on her lips, as her eyes sparkled with joy. She moved from her seat and stood up, showing her baby bump.”I’m pregnant.”
“Oh my god,” you gasped, tears filling your eyes. Despite how much you resented her for leaving you in this mess, and hurting Jaebum, you couldn’t not be happy for her.
You got from your seat and hugged her as tears streamed down your cheeks. All the false bravado you had walking in through the door melted away, and you were really happy and relieved, and you showed yourself to your sister.
She knew you better than anyone else and smiled at you, as you smiled brightly at her. She wasn’t surprised with your attitude, instead, she had expected it.
She knew you were never one to scream and shout or turn a blind eye. She knew you would face the issue head-on and torture the other person until they begged for mercy.
Your sister knew you the best. Even though everyone treated you worlds apart; she understood you the best.
You snorted as you thought of our parents. They would’ve been just as ecstatic to have their precious daughter back.
You knew she could’ve easily won your parents back, but a little angel in her arms would make them more in love with her. They would give up the whole world for their grandchild.
“D-does Jaebum know?” You stammered, trying to get your thoughts together.
“I didn’t really have time to tell him,” she bit her lip. “Does he know you’ve met me?”
“Not yet,” You shook your head, before sitting back in your seat.
“This is so messed up, your child’s aunt is their father’s wife.” You shook your head, feeling exhausted.
“What? No!” Your sister gasped. “Jaebum and I weren’t in love. We were just friends in a contract marriage with zilch feelings for each other. It was like an open relationship-”
“You both had an understanding,” you added, with pursed lips. Your mind going back to the conversation between Jaebum and you in the kitchen.
However, the contract marriage didn’t change much of anything for you.
Jaebum was still in love with your sister and was too much of a pompous twat to admit it. Your sister was living with her dream guy, with a baby growing inside of her. While Jaebum found his distraction with his little play toy, Cynthia.
And of course, there was you, Mrs Im Jaebum.
“Exactly.” She nodded, before biting her lip with a small smile. “The guy at your apartment.”
“Joshua.”
“Josh is the father. I’ve been in a relationship with him since before Jaebum and I were engaged.” She told you, with a small smile.
Her smile dissolved and she gave you a sorrowful look, as she stared into your eyes with regret.
“I’m so sorry, y/n.” She apologised again.
You didn’t say that you forgave her because you couldn’t. You could be civilised with her, and treat her like your sister, but you couldn’t forgive her. You weren’t your parents who would see the white flag she waved with her baby bump, and a bucket full of sorry’s, and forgive her immediately.
Instead, you turned the conversation to something that had been bugging you since you found the photo of your sister and Joshua.
“Did our mother know?” You asked her, your voice low.
You didn’t need her to answer because you knew what she would say. But when she nodded her head slightly, all your doubts were confirmed.
“Guess who my new tenants are, Jaebum?” You greeted the male, as you barged into his study.
Jaebum looked up from his paperwork, reading glasses sitting on his nose, as he watched you walk in. His shirt rolled up at his sleeves, tie loosened around his neck, with the first two buttons open.
He let out a sigh, as he leaned against his chair, running his hand through his already messy hair.
You settled across from him and crossed one leg over the other.
You took him in and pursed your lips as realised how goddamn delicious he looked. The image from yesterday in the gardens flashed in your mind, and you bit your nails into your palm to keep your head steady.
“A certain Mr and Mrs Joshua Adams,” you smiled wickedly at him, succeeding in hiding his effects on you.
You saw his face shift for a moment upon hearing the familiar name, before going back to its normal arrogant stare. If you weren’t looking closely, you probably would’ve missed it.
“Mrs Adams is pregnant,” you added, trying to see any form of pain in his expression. But that left him even more unaffected than hearing the name.
“She looks a lot like my sister,” you sang playfully, as you tilted your head to the side, giving him a mocking grin.
“Okay fine,” Jaebum held his hands up in defeat, rolling his eyes. “So you found your sister.”
You grinned widely, as you nodded your head feeling proud.
“I would’ve missed it,” you told him, shrugging. “They hid their photos in the bathroom when they knew I was coming by to collect a few things. But luckily my business was in there.”
“What business did you have in your tenant's bathroom?” He scrunched up his nose in question.
You gave a pointed look, then leaned back in your seat, watching him.
“How do you feel about all this?” You asked, curiously.
“I’m happy for her.” He told you, his voice steady and light.
You got up from your seat and made your way to where he was sitting. You placed a hand on the chair, beside his head, and the other on his armrest as you stared at his face.
“Say that again,” you squinted your eyes, trying to find out if he was really unaffected and telling the truth. “How can you be so unaffected if the girl you love is with someone else?”
“I wasn’t in love with her, y/n,” Jaebum told you. His hard eyes staring at you, as the same unknown emotion swam in his eyes, again.
Your tummy flipped, as your cheeks painted pink.
However, you could Jaebum was telling you the truth; just not the whole truth.
“Then who was she?” You breathed, leaning back onto his wooden table. You watched his face turn into a confused frown as he peered at you.
“What do you mean?” He asked.
“Your eyes,” you replied, your voice soft. “Sometimes I see the broken hearted little boy in there.
“I saw it on our wedding day.”
It was the first time you had acknowledged the wedding day as something that belonged to Jaebum and you, alone. A memory for the both of you, and no one else.
“On our wedding day?” He echoed, a playful smirk danced on his lips, as he got up from his seat.
Jaebum placed his land on the table underneath you, holding you captive in her arms. He leaned in closer; close enough for his minty breath of gently brush your cheeks. His eyes held on you, watching you squirm in amusement.
You turned away from his heated gaze, as your cheeks flushed. You felt his gaze burn on the side of your face, causing butterflies in your tummy.
“Answer my question, Jaebum,” you faced him again, your spoilt princess persona coming through. “Who was the girl that broke your heart?”
Jaebum took a step closer to you, the same hurt look of a heartbroken man returning in his eyes.
Jaebum brought a hand up and softly, caressed your cheek. His eyes he kept studying your face; searching your eyes as if all the answers to the world was hidden deep within them. Your breath hitched as he placed his other hand on your waist.
Your heart was drumming loudly in your ears, as your veins glowed from hazy pink. Jaebum’s touch and gaze were too much for you to handle, and you could tell you were having the same effect on him.
HIs breath came out short and ragged, as he gently rubbed his thumb across your cheek.
“My heart broke when I was eighteen,” he replied, his voice low, resonating deep in your chest. “She didn’t even realise that she crushed my heart under her red heels.”
“Does she have a name?” You whispered, softly.
When you didn’t get a reply, a light smile made its way onto your lips.
“So, now, you have a thing for red heels?” You smirked playfully, after a moment. Not wanting to push his comfort zone.
Jaebum returned your smile, as his hands burned you with his touch. You rose an eyebrow, and he chuckled in reply, his eyes falling to the floor before meeting yours with light dancing in them with delight.
“You can say that,” his lazy smile returned to his face.
“I always knew you had a long list of kinks,” your eyes sparkled, as you ran your hand over his shoulder. “You look like you’d be a devil.”
“And you look like someone who needs to be punished.”

Characters: Im Jaebum x Reader
Genre: Drama, Romance, Mature
Plot: After your older sister bails on her wedding day, Jaebum and you tie the knot. You weren’t always so bad, at one time you were kids who were true friends, but I guess time is a horrible thing.
a/n: help tried to make steamy
You were fifteen years old when everything between Jaebum and you changed. He had always been a little shithead, but he was also your friend. Something happened and you both were never the same again.
You stood outside of Jaebum’s house, hiding behind your parents as they talked.
The adults were saying their farewell to each other, as the kids stood idly beside them, trying not to show their sadness. You couldn’t bring yourself to look up at Jaebum, whose gaze you could feel on you.
You didn’t want to see him leave. He was such an important part of your life, just the mere thought of him not being there sent chills through you.
Your parents stepped away from you and went back into the house leaving the kids behind. The three of you stood there at the bottom of the steps that led to Jaebum’s old house. You didn’t move from your spot and kept staring at the ground.
Your sister said her goodbyes first, being as gracefully as ever, leaving after a quick hug. You stayed the back, awkwardly rubbing your arm, still refusing to look up.
Saying goodbyes weren’t really your thing. Actually saying anything emotional wasn’t much of your thing. You didn’t talk to people unless it was small talk or a sarcastic banter battle.
“Y/n,” Jaebum’s soft voice pulled you out of your thoughts. You finally looked up from the rocky cement to find his warm brown eyes focused on your red face. The spring breeze rushed through your hair, warming up your hands, but your heart felt cold.
“Will you stay if I ask you to?” You whispered, tears pricking your eyes.
Jaebum took a step towards and stood close to you, as a sad sigh left him. You felt his heat envelope you, as the smell of clean laundry and something that only Jaebum carried surrounded you.
“You know I can’t even if I wanted to,” he held your wrists, as his eyes meeting yours. “But I can make a promise.”
You watched as his lips turned into a small smile.
“A promise?” You asked, meekly. Jaebum’s smile grew as he held your hands in his.
“I promise I will come back to you.” His words made your heart feel lighter, as more tears escaped you.
“You promise?” You peered into his eyes, your eyelashes wet from all the crying.
“I promise.” He placed a soft kiss on your forehead.
You grunted as you pulled at the plant, but ended up falling on your ass. The plant mockingly stayed in its place, not even swaying at your attempts.
You heard light laughter behind you, as you saw Jaebum make his way towards you. His hands were rolling the sleeves of his business shirt, as he took long strides that led him to stand above you.
“Need help?” He asked, with a mocking smile.
“Don’t mind if I do,” you replied, simply, instead of being mulish.
He moved in front of you and tried to pull at the plant. After a few tries, he ended up beside you with a terrified yelp, falling on the soft green grass beside you.
A little giggle escaped your lips, as you saw Jaebum’s face contour between terror, defeat and surprise.
Slowly, your giggles grew into a tummy aching laugh. Tears began streaming down your cheeks, as you remembered Jaebum’s horrified look over and over again.
You pointed at Jaebum and laughed harder as he brushed the dirt from his palm, frowning.
He looked over at you, his frown slowly starting to dissolve and turn into a chuckle, as he saw you dying from your laughter.
His lips whirled into a loopy grin, as his eyes closed into tiny slits of joy. He grinned widely, light laughter leaving him, as he watched your laughing face.
This was the first time Jaebum had seen you laugh so freely since you were kids. He realised how much he had missed it, and how badly he wanted to see it again. He cherished your face so free, not hiding behind a pretence of a heartless princess.
He watched as your hiccups began dying down, and you wiped the tears that escaped your eyes.
“Come on, you little demon,” Jaebum patted your back. “Let’s try it together.”
You both got up and counted to three, as you held the plant.
“One, two, three!” And then, you both went flying through the air with broken leaves in your grips.
You sighed in frustration and threw the leaf at the plant.
“Why is this so hard?!” You pouted angrily, cursing the plant.
“Why are you even gardening all of a sudden?” He asked you instead, turning to look at you. You cleared your throat, not wanting to reply.
But when he nudged your side, you crumbled and groaned.
“Fine. I read somewhere that it’s good for relaxing. I’m hoping it will help stop the nightmares.” You muttered looking at your hands.
Jaebum pursed his lips in deep thought, before studying your uneasiness.
“What exactly do you dream of?” His voice came out careful.
“I’m getting kidnapped,” you blurted out, the fear that squeezed your heart tightened, as you took a deep shaky breath. “Again.”
The last part was barely above a whisper as it left you. It was almost as if you had just breathed it, but Jaebum seemed to hear it loud and clear.
“Again?” He asked, surprised and serious.
You nodded, chewing your bottom lip. “It happened when you went to New York with your family. My parents covered it up from going out to the public, the kidnappers are in jail, but that doesn’t change the fact that it happened.”
“I didn’t know-” You cut off his pity party before it could even start.
“It’s okay, my parents didn’t realise too,” you turned to face him, with a wickedly bright smile. “Not until three days later, when I wasn’t ready for my sister’s birthday party.”
You removed your eyes from Jaebum’s pitiful ones and looked at your palms dark with dirt instead. You began rubbing it together to clean them, watching as the dirt circled together then fall down at once.
“Maybe,” you took a deep breath, trying to lighten up the heavy mood. “We should try wetting the area around it, and then pull it out.”
Jaebum turned to you, his normal-lazy smile slowly coming back.
“To soften the soil,” he added, nodding.
“I’m a genius, I know.” You rolled your eyes, before pushing him to go fetch the hose.
He reluctantly got up, and you made your way towards the stubborn stub. It was prickly and had pretty white flowers, but it wasn’t what you wanted.
All it was, was a stubborn little plant in your greater scheme of a tiny strawberry farm.
“Hey, so like this?” Jaebum called out making you turn around to face him. You were greeted with a spray of cold water hitting you blank on your face.
You tried to save yourself by holding your palms in front of you. You tried to protect your self from Jaebum’s cold attack, as a loud squeal left you when the water soaked your clothes.
“Jaebum!” You tried to be mad but failed as a small giggle left you. Jaebum stopped and put his hands on his hips. He took in the work he had created, as you stood there, water dripping down your back.
“You’ll pay for that,” you muttered, as you lunged at him. You won the hose, thanks to the element of surprise. Jaebum shrieked as you returned the favour, showering him as he tried to get away from your reach.
“Give that back!” He laughed, trying to get it off. You both began struggling over the control of the hose, which resulted in you both getting more drenched with every passing second.
A raspy laugh left you, before Jaebum took your wrists that gripped the hose, and held them behind you. You felt the beads of water run down inside your shirt, and sliding down from your hair.
Droplets of water slipped off Jaebum and landed on your cheeks as he towered over you. He hands pulling you close, attempting to hold you in place.
Jaebum’s wet hair stuck to his forehead, as a wide wicked grin of sheer joy adored his lips.
When you tried to free yourself from his grip, his arms roughly pulled your body against his. Holding you closer to him, making it impossible for you to move.
Your laugh instantly sobered up when you realised how close Jaebum was to you. The warmth of his body, and the nostalgic smell of Jaebum with a hint of cologne wrapped around you, as heat escaped from his skin and hid into yours. His breath fell over your cheeks, making your cheeks flush with nervousness,  as your eyes locked with each other.
You could see the two moles above his eye that always made your heart flutter. You saw the little kink in the corner of his eyebrow, that he got when you were kids.
You had mistakenly hit him with a paddle during an intense game of ping pong.
It was barely visible now, but it was there, and it crinkled slightly with his slightest smile.
Your breath got caught in your throat as he leaned in closer, and his eyes gleaming with something you couldn’t understand.
You felt his grip on your wrist tighten, as your chest pressed against his.
You gasped in return, welcoming the pain of his searing hold on your wrist.
Jaebum’s gaze dropped to your lips before meeting your eyes again.
Despite everything that has happened; your past, and the reasons for why you were here today, you wanted the kiss.
You really really wanted to kiss Jaebum.
You rose a little on your tippy toes and inched closer to Jaebum.
“Y/n,” Jaebum breathed, his voice dark and low. His eyes searched your face looking for something, as his eyes lingered on your lips before meeting your eyes once again.
For the first time in a very long time, a real smile lightly danced on the corner of your lips. Jaebum noticed and his eyes swirled with tenderness, as his lips reflected your loving smile.
“Jaebum!” A voice called out pulling you out of your trance. You both to jumped away from each other and turned to Cynthia running towards you. “I got a fork!”
Your heart that had forgotten how to beat a few seconds ago, was beating fast, as the real world slowly caught up with you. Your cheeks burned brighter, as Jaebum’s gaze burned in your mind.
“Thanks, Cynthia,” you gave her one of your classic smiles and took the fork of her. “I can handle it from here.”
You turned away from them, trying to hide your uneasiness.
You avoided Jaebum’s eyes that refused to look away from you and stared at the garden instead. You began digging around the prickly-white-flowered plant when someone began pouring water over it.
“We should still soften the soil first,” Jaebum said, before bending down next to you.
“And, y/n,” His melting brown eyes gazed softly into yours. “If you ever get those nightmares again; I’m less than a door away.”
You stood outside your old apartment feeling nervous as you talked to Jihyo over the phone.
“Are you sure I can go in?” You asked for the fifth time.
“Yeah, its fine,” Jihyo answered, her patience holding strong. “I ran it by them yesterday, that you’ll come to collect a few things.”
You hung up your phone after saying goodbye, and turned to see the familiar white door of your old apartment. You lifted a hand and briefly knocked on the door, holding your breath.
“Coming!” A voice called out, it sounded strangely familiar.
The door opened to show a man a few years older than you on the other side.
“Hi, I’m Joshua.” He said, holding up his hand. You shook it, introducing yourself before going inside.
You told him you forgot a few files that you kept somewhere, and began making your way towards the bathroom.
Once inside, you stood on the bathtub and lifted the secret section of the roof up. You grabbed your files and got off the tub.
You were about to leave when you saw something glint from the corner of your eyes.
You looked between the bathtub and the vanity to find a photo frame.
Your lips parted as a gasp left you, and betrayal washed over you.
You picked up the photo of the boy and girl and made your way to the living room where Joshua sat, looking anxious.
You snorted as you saw the guy rubbing his hands together, the worried look evident on his face.
“Treasure hunts were always my favourite. Especially if the price is so rewarding,” your lips curled into an ugly smirk, as you held up the photo.
Joshua’s lips parted in terrified shock as his eyes travelled to the photo of a couple on their wedding day.
A photo of Joshua and your older sister on their wedding day.

Characters: Im Jaebum x Reader
Genre: Drama, Romance, Mature
Plot: No one says, but there is no need for it. It will always be your sister.
a/n: even though my sisters are living hells, I swear this is not from personal experience lol.
You smiled at the photo of three children in the photo. The resemblance between the girls was uncanny, but the boy was the odd one out. You could tell he wasn’t a sibling, it seemed like he wasn’t even enjoying himself.
While the two other girls were beaming with toothy grins; the boy sat on the side with his arms folded, brooding.
However, if you looked close enough, you could see he was having fun.
His hands were covered in the same paint that decorated the girls face, and all three of their clothes. You could see the glinting sparkle in his eyes that showed his happiness.
But, you couldn’t see that sparkle in his eyes anymore; It was no longer there. No matter how hard you searched you couldn’t find it in his dark eyes, instead, you were met with empty sad eyes.
The photo faded into another, and you turned your eyes to see the other’s reaction.
Jaebum sat there sipping his wine looking unaffected by the photo of his first choice, and their happy childhood together. You tried to look for any signs of a damaged man who was in pain seeing his last love, but you couldn’t find him.
Instead, all that you saw was an egotistical asshole, with his signature lazy smirk on his lips.
You let out a quiet sigh, as you turned to see your parents face.
And that’s when your heart dropped.
Your mother had tears glistening in her eyes, and your father sat there with heavy shoulders. Your eyes met your mother’s, and she gave you a sad smile.
You could tell that smile wasn’t for you who had to suffer so much, because your sister decided to take off.
No, instead they were for her missing child.
They both still wished for your older sister above you.
You can never be her.  Jaebum’s voice echoed in your mind, and you cast your eyes away from your parents.
You heard a sniff from your mother and your head snapped towards her. Unwillingly, you lips curled into a snarl as you stared at her in disgust. You felt anger poking at your sides but you tried to it at bay.
The truth was that you missed your sister too.
You missed her more than you liked to admit. The early mornings when you woke from nightmares, not being able to go back to sleep, you wondered how different things would’ve been if everything went according to plan.
If your sister’s wedding dress didn’t have to be pinned to fit her little sister, how different would things be?
Her husband would’ve been smiling, and her parents would be shedding tears of joy. Most of all, her little sister wouldn’t have been married to an arrogant ass, and have to sit on a table filled with people who missed her selfish sister.
“You miss her, don’t you?” You harshly whispered to your mother. You knew you were being hypocritically cruel, but you’d much rather be that than a pathetic sog crying over her irresponsible sister.
You didn’t want to miss someone who left everyone a mess, or want to admit it, at least.
Your mother didn’t answer, but her actions were louder than any lie she could’ve uttered. Her body froze with tears glistening in her eyes,  as her lips shook holding in a heart-clenching sob.
Instead of being the perfect daughter and comforting her, you lips turned downwards in distaste.
The role of the best daughter went to your older sister; you were the heartless nuisance.
“I don’t believe this.” You huffed, leaning back in your chair. No one seemed to have noticed the heated exchange between you two, but that didn’t mean you no longer felt like screaming your lungs off.
“Hey, you okay?” Jaebum asked, placing a hand on yours. You met his brown eyes, that seemed lighter than most times. They almost looked caring and sincere.
However, that was the last thing you needed. You didn’t need any form of genuine affection right now. All you needed was a distraction, and your mother seemed to be a step ahead of you.
“Your parents and I were thinking, Jaebum,” your mother stared, drawing Jaebum’s attention from you. “You both should start thinking about the future.”
You stared at her in confusion, as she kept on only addressing Jaebum, whilst she talked about both of your futures. You looked at her as she continued to plan out your life as she wished it was her other daughter instead of you beside Jaebum.
“When do you plan for a child?” She asked Jaebum.
“The child will be coming out of me, mother.” You muttered through gritted teeth, bringing your mother’s attention back to you. “Shouldn’t you be asking me?”
She stared at you, speechless, before letting out a little dry chuckle.
“You must be joking, y/n,” she shook her head at you, with a small smile. “Of course you should want to have a child as soon as possible-”
You placed your utensils down on the table and tried to swallow all the anger bubbling inside of you.
“Mother, I think it’s only appropriate for that Jaebum and I to make the plans for our future,” you said, the at least left hanging in the air, reminding her what their choices in the past have done to their children.
“Right,” your mother blinked, wiping her mouth.
“But it should happen soon,” your mother started, but you stopped her.
“It should happen when we both are ready.” You placed your napkin on your plate. “Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a lot of work to get back to.
“The dinner was lovely, dad.” You smiled at your father. “Goodbye, mother.”
You gave everyone in the room the smile you had been taught as a child. A smile that belonged to someone who controlled the room, and everyone in it. You didn’t even have control over your life, but you could always pretend like you did.
You woke up in the middle of the night and stared into the darkness surrounding you.
It was another night of the same nightmare, and it was starting to take its toll on you. You got up from bed without looking at the time and made your way to the kitchen.
You flipped the lights looming over the fridge on, and gasped in surprise when you saw a figure standing there. But you relaxed when you saw Jaebum’s suit from tonight.
“Gosh, what are you still doing here?” You muttered tossing your hair to the side, as you got out the milk.
“I just got back in,” he replied, before letting out a sigh. “About what your mother said-”
“You don’t have to clarify for her or do anything about her. Just ignore her.” You told him.
It’s about time she tasted her own medicine, you wanted to add, but you bit your tongue.
Jaebum nodded not meeting your eyes.
This was the first time you both had talked since the other night.
“Why are you here tonight?” You asked as you sipped the warm milk from the cup.
“Oh,” Jaebum snapped out of his daze and looked at you. “Last minute paperwork.”
You pursed your lips and nodded not sure what to say. You stared at the cup in hand and looked at the white liquid swirling inside. You could feel Jaebum’s gaze remaining on you, and you tried to ignore it. With every passing second, you could feel it burning brighter through you.
“What?” You snapped your head at him. You hadn’t realised how close he was to you and ended up spilling your milk on his suit.
“Omg! I’m so sorry!” You exclaimed, reaching for the towel. You began wiping it furiously, trying to distract yourself from Jaebum’s heated gaze. Or the feeling in the pit of tummy fluttering due to his gaze, or how you could feel the hardness of his chest under his thin shirt.
“As much as I love to see you in pain,” Jaebum whispered softly, his heat seeping into your skin. “I have to ask; why do you look like you crawled the hard way out of hell?”
You smiled at that and looked up to meet his eyes.
“There was an easy way?” You smirked playfully, as his eyes glistened with something you hadn’t seen in a long time. It was the same happiness that once sparkled in those warm brown eyes. The one the little boy had in the photo, and all of your memories.
“There it is,” you whispered, staring into his eyes. His eyes looked back, taking in the patterns of your eyes that made them deeper, and the lashes that surrounded them, making them look darker.
“What is?” he asked, his voice low. His gaze dropped to your parted lips for a moment, before snapping back to meet your eyes. Your heart beat so loud in your chest you could feel it pumping in your ears.
“It’s a secret,” You replied, poking your tongue out mockingly, as you stepped back. Jaebum gave you an annoyed look, before rolling his eyes.
“Sorry, about your suit.” You said as you gulped down a new cup of milk.
“You should be,” he gruffed, dusting off the liquid. “It can’t be saved anymore. This was the first time I wore it, too.”
It was your turn to roll your eyes at his childishness.
“You didn’t answer though,” Jaebum reminded you, folding his hands behind him as he followed you out of the kitchen.
You let out a long exhausted sigh, as you rubbed your eyes feeling slightly sleepy, thankfully.
“I keep getting nightmares in that room,” you told him. Jaebum looked at you surprised, before clearing his throat.
“That’s a first, normally guests sleep like a baby in that room.”
“Well, this baby gets visited by the same monster under her bed.” You retorted, half-jokingly.
“Recurring dreams?” He asked with a raised eyebrow. You nodded, with pursed lips, your shoulders dropping in defeat.
“Well, would you like to sleep in mine?” He asked, wiggling his eyebrows. You slightly shoved him away, before laughing a little.
You were outside the room you slept in. You sighed, looking at the light wooden doors.
“You were right, Jaebum,” you hummed eyeing the closed the doors. You turned to find a confused Jaebum studying you.
“I can never be her. None of this is mine; even her room can’t seem to get over me taking her spot.” You shot him a sad smile.
Jaebum’s lips turned into a frown as his brows scrunched together, upset. He looked at the way you nervously rubbed your elbow and sighed feeling guilty.
“Look, y/n, I’m sorry about last time. I was out of line that time; I was being petty just to win. I didn’t mean it.” He scratched the back of his neck, nervously.
You smiled at his nervous boyish ways and shook your head.
“But you were right though. It doesn’t matter if I take her place-”
“But you didn’t,” Jaebum cut you off in a rough voice.
You avoided his hard eyes and stared at the dark floor instead, as you tucked a piece of hair behind your ear.
“You did not sabotage her wedding to take her place.” His voice demanding you to look at him, but you couldn’t meet them. ”She’s the one who didn’t turn up. She’s the one who ran away; you’re the one who saved all of us.”
“But,” you whispered, there’s always a but. You lifted your eyes to meet his dark ones. The tears burned behind your eyes, and you felt your chest tighten as the next words left you.
“But you’d rather have her than me, any day.”

Characters: Im Jaebum x Reader
Genre: Drama, Romance, Mature
Plot: The worst thing about growing up together is that you have too much dirt on each other.
a/n: i’m a mess
Beads of sweat dripped down your forehead as you shot up in bed. Your chest heaved as your breathing struggled to return to normal. It was another nightmare; the same one but just another night.
You reached for your phone, deciding that you were finally going to find out what your recurring dreams meant, but sighed as you changed your mind. You already had so much on your plate, the last thing you needed on it was a superstitious paranoia.
You turned on your phone, sighing as you saw the time. It was four am, again. You sighed as you fell back into your bed. You closed your eyes trying to fall back to sleep, but the vague images from the dream repeated itself over and over, flashing different parts before you.
After a moment of just lying there and staring at the bare ceilings, defeated, you heaved off your bed.
You slowly opened the door, quiet as a mouse, as you peered at Jaebum’s door. There was no light peeking from underneath so you guessed he was sleeping. That made you feel relieved for some reason, but you didn’t want to explore why.
The truth is that Jaebum scared you. He was such an arrogant, egotistical and self-absorbed prick. A complete nob if you’ve ever seen one, and it made you so mad. But there was something other than that, something that really crept under your skin.
Whenever he would give you his devilish smile, or laugh at your remarks, something ticked inside of you. It kept on ticking every time you were near him. You wanted to find out what the trigger was, but you were also too scared to get too close to him.
You softly closed the door behind you as you tiptoed towards the kitchen.
Emily, your old nanny, would always give you a warm glass of milk whenever you couldn't sleep. You weren’t sure if it was a truly magically white potion that whizzed you off to sleep, or if you had made yourself believe that it was. Nonetheless, it worked, and it was better than being dependent on pills, you had decided.
Just as you were about to reach the kitchen, you felt movement from the corner of your eye. Suddenly, the shadow became more prominent, taking shape of a real man.
A terrified scream left your lungs, as you threw yourself backwards.
You heard the familiar chuckle of Jaebum, as you cowered against the wall. Your hands over your pounding heart.
“Jaebum, you asshole!” You huffed, trying to calm your racing heart.
His chuckle deepened into a laugh as you sat there frowning at him. You tried to ignore how he looked as his eyes disappeared, or the way his laugh resonated deep in your chest. Instead, you straightened yourself as you took in what he was wearing.
“Did you just get back home?” You asked, raising an eyebrow at his suit. Without waiting for an answer, you turned and began walking to the kitchen like you had planned.
Jaebum followed your suit, humming in reply.
“Yeah, I had a wonderful, yet exceptionally long day today,” he sighed, as he leaned against the bench. “A lot of investors are wanting to sponsor the new app that we’re developing.”
Your lips curled into a smile hearing that, as you took out the milk. Your eyes darted over to Jaebum, and he smiled knowingly. The marriage was showing off its effects; it wasn’t all in vain.
“That’s great to hear,” you smiled at him, as you poured yourself a cup of milk. “Want some?”
“I’m good, thanks,” he shook his head, before walking over to the fridge and taking out a pink coloured bottle.
You watched him from where you were standing.
He looked fine, good even. Nothing like a guy whose bride didn’t show up on his wedding day. He seemed like someone whose life was on track and perfect. No sign of an angry, heartbroken man you had seen before.
“How can you look so fine?” You asked, shaking your head lightly.
Jaebum chuckled, before throwing a smirk your way. “It’s mostly in my genes, but it takes a lot of effort to have such a great body and run a multi-billion company.”
You rolled your eyes at him, as you failed to hide the humoured smile making its way onto your lips. You pursed your lips, as you shook your head slightly.
“God, you’re insane,” you muttered, before taking a sip of your milk.
You both silently stood there in the dimly lit kitchen. Covered in the golden hue of the few lights illuminating over you. You couldn’t see his face properly, but you could tell he was thinking of something.
“Aren’t you upset because of her?” You asked, eyeing the milk in your cup.
“No, not really,” he shrugged sighing, and it really did seem like he was okay.
“You both were supposed to get married, Jaebum,” you tried. “How can you be fine?”
“Your sister and I had an understanding,” Jaebum answered, his tone truthful and sincere, but that wasn’t enough for you.
“Yeah,” you chuckled, “An understanding that lets you screw your secretary while you’re engaged to someone else?”
You bit your lip, as the last words left your mouth. You didn’t mean to say that, but you had wondered about it the whole day. You wondered how long Jaebum had been screwing the foolish little girl. If your sister had known, if the that was the reason why she didn’t show up. If Jaebum was really cheating on your sister.
“So is this what all this is about?” Jaebum huffed, as he rose an eyebrow in question. “God, you’re such a child.”
You stared at him in disbelief as he loosened the dark tie around his neck.
He stood there upright and almightly like being three years older than you made him much more of an adult and human than you.
“A child?” You sneered, your voice low. “I’m sorry, my three years younger than you brain can’t seem to comprehend how an understanding between to a soon-to-be-married couple allows them to go around and fuck their personal assistants. That kind of understanding makes no sense to me. It’s truly beyond my minuscular understanding of ethics.”
You slammed your cup on the counter in anger as your blazing eyes rested on Jaebum. You hated it when he treated you like a child. When he left you out of the circle. When he treated you like a little girl tugging on his sleeves to come play with you.
Jaebum’s lips curled into an easy smile as he slowly walked towards you. His eyes never leaving you with every step. Your breathing fastened as he neared, but you told yourself it was the anger. You could feel that it was mostly the anger and a hint of something else.
He stopped in front of you, less than a feet away from you. You took a step back, as your raging eyes met his dark stormy ones. Your hip hit the counter, and your hands gripped its cold granite top.
Jaebum took a step closer to you. His warm brown eyes watching you as he placed his hands on your wrist, slowly tracing them up your bare arms. His fingers curved on your shoulders, brushing the ends of your neck before gently travelling down the middle of your back. His touch causing sparks to dance up your spine. He rested his hands behind you on the counter, trapping you in his arms.
You held your breath, as his gaze and hands touched you.
You felt his warm breath gently hit your lips. He leaned in for a bit, inviting you for a small little taste of their softness. You turned your head to the side, not wanting to give into the wicked temptation. You avoided his intense gaze, but could still feel his eyes on you.
Jaebum’s lips grazed the side of your neck, causing goosebumps to rise all over your body. You bit your lip, holding in any sound that would let Jaebum know of the excitement sparking inside you. Your heart was beating erratically, your chest rising and falling, as his soft lips gently touched your skin, leaving a trail of fire behind.
His lips caressed your ear before he bit it, gently.
“This is why,” he whispered, and you closed your eyes at the feeling of his soft lips lightly touching your ear with every word. “You will never be able to be like your sister.”
You felt a bucket of ice water be dumped over your head, numbing you out of the trance he had cast over you.
Your body froze at his words before you roughly pushed him away. You felt bile rise up your throat, as anger spiked up your spine painting your vision red.
If your eyes were raging before, now they were raining fire.
“How dare you?” You whispered, through gritted teeth. You fisted your hands on your side, as you stared at him standing there nonchalantly.
He knew your worst thing, your personal hell, was being your sister’s shadow. Always in her comparison, always one step behind her. Even though you were complete opposites, the whole world wanted to see how you measure up against your sister on a scale based solely on how she was.
“You know it is the truth, y/n,” he replied, the smile resting lazily on his lips.
“And you know how I am.” You challenged looking into his eyes.
If he was going to strike at your weak spots, you were going to do the same.
You saw Jaebum’s eyes flicker with an unknown emotion as your eyes began to burn red, with tears begging to be shed. But you didn’t cry, you won’t cry.
You will never cry because a stupid boy likes to play dirty.
You didn’t say anything more and just walked out of the kitchen.
You didn’t stop until you were in the bathroom. You stood under the shower, as hard drops of warm water washed over your skin. You closed your eyes and took deep breathes to control the storm hurling inside of you.
When you walked out of the shower, you snickered looking at the time. It was six thirty, meaning no more time to sleep. You got ready for work and planned on skipping breakfast.
You walked past the dining room where Jaebum was seated, and a plate set out for you.
“Y/n,” he sighed, his voice heavy, as you walked past him. You stopped in your tracks waiting for him to continue.
“Look I should-” Before he could continue, his assistant wondered in through the doors.
You smiled brightly at her, as you took in what she was wearing.
“Oh my, Cynthia,” you plastered on the sweetest smile and voice. Your eyes travelled to the outfit that she was wearing which was neither appropriate nor professional enough for the secretary of a multi-billion CEO. “Aren’t you off to the conquer the world with your hard work today? Wonderful choice of clothes, by the way.”
You winked at her as you walked past her, but stopped when you were a step behind her.
“A word of advice, Cynthia, I would start counting down my time with him if I were you,” she turned to look at you with a horrified look. You gave her a soft smile that you were taught since you were a child.
You got into your car. You pulled out your phone and texted your assistant to put your apartment on lease. Before you could put it away, your phone buzzed in your hand. You sighed reading the message, before sending another text to Jihyo.
Look for dresses for the both of us. My mother is planning to have a dinner party tomorrow night. Excited. xx

Jaebum AU
one / two  / four
Tumblr media
Characters: Im Jaebum x Reader
Genre: Drama, Romance, Mature
Plot: After your older sister bails on her wedding day, you were left to fill her shoes. Now you’re in a marriage that seems to be from hell; maybe because Jaebum and you were the works of the devil.
a/n: I wondered if I wanted a classic good girl to be the girl’s character. It would’ve fitted perfectly, and been great. But good things start to become boring, sometimes a little wickedness is needed.
Jaebum was sitting on the opposite side of the table. The displeasure and darkness radiating off him in waves. He shoved another pile of breakfast into his mouth and kept his eyes on the table.
You wanted to talk to him, about everything that’s happened and everything that is soon to follow. You didn’t know what will happen next or where this all left Jaebum and you.
It’s true you both were married, legally and publically, but that’s all you were; a bride and groom. You wanted to ask if you both would be husband and wife, be companions or at least friends. But every question was stuck at the tip of your tongue as you laid eyes on Jaebum.
He looked the same as he always did before the marriage. The same mysterious and dark demeanour; the same expressionless eyes. He looked sharp and dangerous, yet so beautiful.
Jaebum was like a rose; beautiful to look at, but dangerous to touch. He had thorns sticking out of him from every point, all ready to defend his walls.
But you had to, you had to talk to him. It had been three weeks since your marriage and you both had barely said a word to one another.
“Jaebum,” you carefully said, his black eyes snapping up to you. You gulped, as he raised an eyebrow in question, his right hand holding a fork to his lips. “We need to talk.”
Jaebum sighed as he plopped down the utensils and leaned against his chair.
“Alright then, talk,” he replied, bored, yet challenging.
You stared at his behaviour but shook your head to concentrate.
“There’s a lot we need to discuss,” you took a deep breath in before starting your list. “What do we do now, where does this leave us, what are we-”
Jaebum cut you off holding a finger up.
“We are nothing, y/n,” he told you with a playful smile. You stared at him for a second, before a smirk made its way onto your face.
“I’m sorry, Jaebum, but we are something.” You tsked, as you leaned back in your chair. “We got married at an altar, and then celebrated our union for the whole world to see. We are something, and we need to figure out what, in order draw clear lines.”
It was Jaebum’s turn to stare at you, to calculate your next move and strike before it.
“So, you want to play the role of a good wife?” He asked, taking a sip of his drink. Your eyes followed the dark liquid and you realised it was alcohol.
“Only if you’ll play the husband just as well.” You both sat there, tension thick in the air as you both challenged each other.
Despite being familiar with each other growing up, you were two distant people.
Your older sister would've accepted it, and moulded right into the role of the perfect wife. But you were raised to have the power, to hold the reigns, but so was Jaebum.
Jaebum was the first to look away, but that didn’t mean he had lost. The arrogant smile on his face remained, letting you know he was just going to play another game.
“I think we’re both too old to play this game of house, y/n,” the corner of his lips lifted in a mocking smile. Growing up the three of you had played house; Jaebum would always be the father, your sister was the daughter, and you the mother because you always insisted. But, that was all it was, a game; now it was almost reality.
“We both know we can’t get out of this,” you ignored him. “Divorcing will be just as worse as not having the wedding at all.”
Jaebum let out a long exhausted breath, before staring at you.
“Then what do you want, y/n?” He said, his voice low and your name sounding like velvet on his lips.
“I want us both to make rules, a common ground, of sorts,” you replied, leaning on the table. “We both respect each other, listen to each other and protect one another.”
Jaebum nodded with a convinced smile.
“Seems fair to me,” he said, getting up. He made his way around, with a mocking smile, and planted a soft kiss on your cheek. “I’ll take my leave then, my lovely wife.”
You rolled your eyes and waved at him as he was making his way to the door. He stopped a few steps away when he saw a figure appear in the doorway.
“Cynthia,” he said, with a tight smile. “Come meet my wife,” he said, jokingly turning towards you.
“Y/n, this is my assistant Cynthia,” his hand gestured to the lady in the black dress beside him. “And Cynthia, this is my wife, Y/n.”
You stared at the girl in front of you, she was probably a few years older than you, closer to Jaebum’s age. She had long black hair, a killer body, and a smile that belonged to a winner.
You chuckled at her confidence, as she placed her hand on Jaebum’s chest, gesturing him to let’s go. You snickered at her idiocy for believing that she actually had a chance. Somewhere deep inside you, you maybe even felt bad for her dreams that were never going to come true.
At least, not with Jaebum, for sure.
You got up from your seat and made your way towards Jaebum.
Cynthia was staring at you with curious eyes, as you walked like your godmother had taught you.
Walk like a Queen, like you rule this world, y/n. Only then you will truly be respected.
As you stood in front of Jaebum, her hand slipped off his chest, falling to her side. She looked at you both, with her lips slightly parted.
You shot Jaebum a knowing smile, as you got on your tiptoes. You planted a lingering kiss on his cheek, just missing his lips before you wrapped your arms around his neck.
“Remember Jaebum; respect, listen, and protect.” You whispered into his ear, before moving back.
“Have a great day at work, Jaebum,” you gave him a plastered smile. Jaebum smirked back, understanding your game, as he nodded.
You looked over at Cynthia who was looking at the floor, uncomfortably.
“Goodbye, husband.” You winked, as you strutted out of the dining room with the winner’s smile.

Jaebum AU
two / three / four
Tumblr media
Characters: Jaebum x Reader
Genre: Drama, romance, mature
Plot: After your older sister bails on her wedding day there was only one choice left for both the families; you to marry Im Jaebum.
a/n: I should really stop coming up with more series when I have writer's block for the others.
Another tear fell down your rosy cheeks as you rested your hand on your father’s forearm.
“Don’t cry, my dear,” his deep voice soothed you, as he squeezed your palm. He turned you around towards the crowd, but your eyes remained on the floor.
You saw your white flowered shoes peek underneath the white majestic dress. Your slippers were the same as the ones the other two bridesmaids adorned, except this pair was taking steps down the ivory carpet leading to the altar.
The live orchestra played How long will I love you, by Ellie Goulding as everyone rose from their seats to welcome you.
There were gasps and awes greeting you with every step, all in awe at how beautiful you looked at as a bride.
This was your day.
But it wasn’t.
The only thing on your body that truly belonged to you were your shoes because your older sister’s ones didn’t fit you. They somehow managed to squeeze you into the dress she found after fifty different stores. The delicate lace design around the bottom of your dress moved with every small step you took towards the alter that your sister had created.
The ivory and off-white colours matching with the majestic wedding dress on your body. The details in the palest pink that co-ordinated with the bouquet of flowers in your hands. Everything was to her taste.
Everyone sat in rows of white chairs that were Italian leather.
Everyone who welcomed you down the aisle believed this was truly your day, to your taste and design.
Only it wasn’t.
The song that played softly in the background was your sister’s dream. She had cried the first time she had heard it; she looked over at you and told you this was the one. This was the song she would play on her wedding day.
And it almost did come true. Almost, but almost is never enough.
Everything was going perfectly until this morning, two hours before the wedding. Your sister went missing and in her place was a note saying, “I’m sorry.”
Your father hummed over the music, much closer to you. His voice resonating in your chest. It was the song you both sang every time you went camping down by grandma’s cabin. More tears left you, and you felt your father choke on his own sorrow too.
No father ever wants to send his daughter off like this, but we didn’t have a choice. Your family didn’t and neither did the Im family. Spiderman, or whoever said it was true, with great power comes great responsibility.
When two of the most powerful families were merging together, it was a fairytale marriage. Everyone was anticipating it, watching with hawks eyes; to witness the rise or the horrendous downfall of both families.
Calling off the wedding two hours before the wedding would bring both the families down, and you knew it. You agreed to this for the sake of the two families and their pride.
Your father patted your back in an attempt to calm you down, and you really tried to do just that. You took deep long breathes and counted to ten backwards.
It was almost funny how relieved the whole room, with the two families, felt when they read the card again. The card never stated your name or your sisters, it was the first initial that you both shared and your last name, weds Im Jaebum. Your eyes caught Jaebum in the room, and your heart sank seeing someone as strong as him looking so broken.
You both agreed instantly, you understood the consequences of this wedding not happening. The empire that was created would crumble down to nothing; all the investors would pull out, and the deals would be withdrawn. Your families would have nothing; no wealth, no pride, nor honour.
You knew you had reached the end of your walk when you heard your mother's quiet whimpers as she held you from the other side.
You lifted your head and looked at your mother. For her sake, you pushed your tears back and gave her an encouraging smile as you nodded at her reassuringly.
Your mother gave you a grateful smile and it broke your heart.
You moved your eyes away from her and finally met his dark ones.
This was supposed to be your day, but it wasn’t.
If it was, you’d be wearing a simple dress. You’d be outside, not in an old traditional chapel, and there’d be fairy lights and candles. The air would smell of sweet flowers and spices, and your heart would be filled with warmth.
As you’d walk down the aisle Beautiful [Goblin Ost instrumental] would play, and you’d be smiling, maybe crying just a bit too. At the end of the aisle would’ve been your groom looking breathtakingly handsome. He’d shoot you a cheeky smile and take your hands in his. He’d lean down and softly whisper, “You look beautiful.”
His eyes would sparkle with tears of happiness and joy, and it would’ve been truly beautiful.
Instead, your eyes met cold ones. His hand outstretched for you to hold, as his face remained unchanged. You lifted your hands off your father's forearm and placed it in his.
Your father kissed your head and moved to his seat.
Jaebum stared at you. Your heart was beating fast and your breath was shaky, as you looked back at him. He lightly pulled you to stand beside him, as everyone took their places.
The song was reaching its end, and you turned to face Jaebum for a moment. He turned and your eyes met. You looked into them, searching for the hurt boy you had seen a few hours ago. The broken-hearted, hurt boy was gone, instead, there was nothing.
There was a cold emptiness and darkness in his eyes that didn’t exist before.
You never saw it when he’d come over for dinners and lunches. You didn’t see it when he got into a car crash and his back got hurt. You didn't find it when he lost his lucky pen and turned your parent's house upside down searching for it. You never saw it when his first business attempt had failed, but you saw it today. A man defeated by love.
You let out a shaky breath and faced forward as the Officiant started the ceremony.
You didn’t say your own vows like you had always wanted.
The ring that was slipped upon your finger wasn’t the one you chose.
The groom that kissed your forehead wasn’t someone you loved.
As you both exited the chapel only one thing remained in your mind.
This day wasn’t yours, nothing about this day belonged to you, but it was. Somehow, it was now your day.
As Jaebum closed the door behind you and settled into his seat staring out the window, you didn’t know if this could really work out.
A groom that wasn’t yours, and a bride that he didn’t love. How could this marriage work?
