A Jaguar SS 100 that was driven by a RAF pilot in the Monte Carlo Rally is up for sale, and could fetch almost half a million pounds.
The SS100 was one of the first Jaguars to be produced and part-time racer Jack Harrop was quick to buy this beauty back in 1936.

I would like to offer this resource for therians, an extensive list of all of Sir David Attenborough’s nature documentaries that are available on soap2day, and a full list of what species* they each (notably, prominently) feature the natural behaviors of, separated by episode, and omitting species that were only shown dead, juvenile or being predated on. This took me a while (I have been working on it since Prehistoric Planet’s release) because I did in fact have to watch every single series in full in order to list all the species and the episodes are around 50 minutes long, but enjoy.
Long post ahead:
Most of these shows have closed captioning, which is why I’ve picked soap2day. Planet Earth is the only one that doesn’t. I did not include Dynasties and Dynasties II because each episode only features one species.
Thank you to Birch (@ambiguousmutt) for his help (he watched about half of the episodes) so I didn’t have to do it individually. Credit goes to him as well.
*Sometimes Attenborough doesn’t say the specific species and I was too busy trying to get through the episodes to identify it. In those cases I just put the most specific name I could.

The 1965 Lotus-Ford that Jimmy Clark drove to the 1965 Indianapolis 500 Championship.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jim Clark was a 2 time F1 World Champion and Indy 500 Champion
Jim Clark died because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. On 7 April 1968, Clark should have been at Brands Hatch giving the DFV-engined Ford F3L its debut in the BOAC 500 sports car race. But he had been double-booked that weekend, and instead spent it at Hockenheim in Germany for a big European F3 meeting where Lotus was fielding its works team, to oblige sponsors Firestone.
Clark was a sheep farmer from the Scottish Borders who had started competing in sprints in his Sunbeam Mk3 saloon in 1956. He won his first event. He raced friend Ian Scott Watson’s DKW Sonderklasse and Porsche 356 1600 Super before graduating to a Jaguar D-type run by the Border Reivers team.
In 1958 Scott Watson bought one of the first Lotus Type 14 Elites, and at the Boxing Day Brands Hatch race meeting Clark had Lotus founder Colin Chapman in his own Elite all but beaten, until a backmarker spun in front of him.
Clark’s smoothness and mechanical sympathy meant he could often get a Lotus to last a race distance where other drivers could not
By 1960 Clark was a Lotus F1 driver, and he won his first championship race at Spa in 1962. It was one of three wins that year, leaving him in contention for the world championship at the final race of the season in South Africa – but his Lotus failed him, and BRM driver Graham Hill was crowned champion.
There was no mistake the following year. Clark won seven of the 10 races in 1963 – the most any driver had won in one season – and took his first world championship win in dominant style.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Chapman was renowned for building cars that were as light as possible, but often their reliability was suspect. Clark’s smoothness and mechanical sympathy meant he could often get a Lotus to last a race distance where other drivers could not, but it didn’t always work out: in 1964 a strong of retirements robbed him of the chance to defend his F1 title. He was back in 1965 with the new Lotus 33, and six race wins guaranteed him his second world championship.
Graham Hill joined Lotus for 1967 – typically, Clark insisted they were both paid the same salary – and carried out much of the development work on the new Cosworth DFV engine. It was obvious that the DFV-powered Lotus 49 was the class of the field at its debut race at Zandvoort, so Hill and Clark tossed to decide who would win. Hill won the toss, but his car expired, leaving Clark to win – in a car he had never seen before that weekend.
Clark had immense natural ability: he often struggled to understand why other drivers couldn’t keep up
Arguably his greatest race came in the 49 at Monza later that year when he suffered a puncture while leading. The pit stop to change the tyre left him a lap down but he fought past the leading group to unlap himself, belying some commentators’ opinions that Clark wasn’t a racer, and was only any good when controlling a race from the front. He lapped faster and faster, caught up an entire lap, and passed the front-runners again to re-take the lead. But the epic win was not to be: the Lotus ran out of fuel with a couple of laps to go, and John Surtees won in the ‘Hondola’ RA300.
Clark had immense natural ability: he often struggled to understand why other drivers couldn’t keep up. When he had a big enough lead he would keep himself amused by setting the car up in a big slide for the benefit of trackside photographers. His feel for the car was legendary: driving the Lotus 49 for the first time at Zandvoort in 1967 he was convinced something wasn’t right with the car, though there was nothing obvious amiss. But when Team Lotus tore down the car overnight they found one of the wheel bearings was just starting to fail.
Tumblr media
Clark won the first F1 championship race of the 1968 season in South Africa, where he beat Juan Manuel Fangio’s all-time record of 24 world championship Grand Prix victories. He was well-placed to win more F1 races and maybe become champion again in 1968, but then came Hockenheim…
His Lotus 48 F2 car was up against a strong international field and Clark was running eighth after the first four laps. On the fifth lap the Lotus headed uphill out of the stadium section of the course and into the woods, was seen to twitch, and flew off the road into the trees. Though the cause of the accident was never established beyond all doubt, it’s likely that a rear tyre failed, possibly due to debris from a previous incident. The Lotus hit a tree, and Clark died from a broken neck and fractured skull. He was just 32.
The whole motor racing community was numb. At Brands Hatch the news was announced to a stunned crowd. Colin Chapman was so destraught he considered giving up motor racing for good. Chris Amon, one of the greatest drivers of his era, summed up the general mood among the drivers by saying if this could happen to Clark, “What chance have the rest of us got?”
The shockwaves from his death were felt not just in Europe, where Clark was a superstar in F1 and touring car racing, but also in the US. Clark had been denied victory in the Indy 500 in dubious circumstances in 1963 but returned, and dominated the race, in 1965 – becoming the first F1 World Champion to win at the Brickyard.
But for a few quirks of fate, Clark could have been F1 champion 1962-1963-1964-1965-1968 and might even have gone on to race and win in the slicks-and-wings era of the early 1970s, which brought two world titles for the Lotus 72. He was, without doubt, one of the greatest drivers ever to race in F1.
Family and community meant a lot to him: his gravestone in Chirnside lists his occupation as ‘farmer’ before ‘World Champion motor racing driver’.

Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona (very first) Prototype by Scaglietti
In the late 1960s, it seemed as if the performance car world was at a crossroads. With the introduction of Lamborghini’s P400 Miura and its revolutionary mid-engined design, some thought this design would be the future for the upper echelons of performance cars, and that front-engined cars would begin to fade from popularity.
Spurred on by the success of the Miura, Ferrari knew that the replacement of the 275 GTB/4 needed to be something spectacular and new in order to take the fight to Lamborghini. Rather than move to a mid-engined format, it was decided that the front-engined V-12 platform would remain, alongside coachwork penned by Pininfarina. Quite simply, if it works for you and your clients, why go about reinventing the wheel? After all, this is what Ferrari had built their reputation on, and there was no one better at building twelve-cylinder, front-engined GT cars than Ferrari. They were not to be outdone by this team of renegades at Lamborghini, headquartered just down the road from Maranello!
Chassis number 10287 was the genesis of that new model of Ferraris and the Scuderia’s fighting back against the Lamborghini and the Miura. At first glance to the casual observer, the car offered here seems to tread the line between a 275 GTB/4 and a 365 GTB/4 Daytona. Visual cues to both can be seen and some design elements seem to have blended together, but this car is far more than a design study to determine Ferrari’s future. A total of six 365 GTB/4 prototypes would be built, but this example, as the first, remains the most recognizable, the most unique, the most significant, and is undoubtedly the most desirable.
Chassis number 10287 is that of a Tipo 596 chassis, the same type which was used for the 275 GTB/4, made of tubular steel and a wheelbase measuring 2,400 mm (a wheelbase length shared by both 275 GTB/4 and 365 GTB/4). At its heart is a completely unique Lampredi engine, one that would not be seen in any other Ferrari road car at the time. Designated Tipo 243 internally, it is fitted with dry sump, three-valve heads rather than the usual four valves per cylinder, dual ignition, twin spark plugs per cylinder, and is topped with six Weber 40 DCN18 carburetors. The block itself is based on that of a 330 GT but has been bored out to 4,380 cc. What is worth noting about this completely unique and radically redesigned engine is that it bears similarities to the engines found in the 330 P4 prototype racers, the race car that won numerous races and earned its place in the history books after their memorable 1-2 finish with a 412 P coming in third at the 1967 24 Hours of Daytona. These racing cars also have double inlet valves with one exhaust valve per cylinder.
Aesthetically, the design in front of the windshield was similar to that of a 275 GTB/4, albeit with a slightly stretched and flattened nose, still boasting covered headlights and a bonnet with a central bulge similar to a 275 GTB/4. The shape of the tail section of the bodywork is instantly recognizable to anyone familiar with a Daytona, utilizing 275 GTB/4 boot hinges and a full-width rear chrome bumper. Chassis number 10287's side profile is most evocative of the production Daytona, and allegedly what Enzo Ferrari loved most about this particular prototype, featuring a near identical rear ¾ section and roofline. Looking at the nose and bonnet, similarities can be seen between this and Jaguar’s E-Type.
Once completed in early 1967, 10287 saw extensive factory testing at the Modena Autodrome over the course of that year. It was first registered on May 8, 1968, wearing Italian number plates ‘Roma B 85391’ through the official Ferrari dealer in Rome, Motor S.a.s. di Carla Allegretti e C, noting a sales price of 8,000,000 Italian Lira. It is interesting to note that, at the time, this was similar in price to a new 275 GTB/4, but by that time, the production version of the 365 GTB/4 Daytona had yet to be introduced, this being about five months before the 1968 Paris Auto Salon.

The problem with writing about Andrew's love of cars is that Nora didn't know anything about cars.
Take Andrew's original car for example: a Lexus GS is a very EXPENSIVE car yes, but look at it in 2003!
Tumblr media
It's what a business exec buys not a speedfreak little shit head blowing his abusive mom's life insurance when the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo existed.
Tumblr media
The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, usually called an Evo, is the obnoxious boy racer car. Look at it in matte black and tell me 17 year old Andrew Minyard didn't blow every penny he had on 0-60 mph in 5 seconds, all-wheel drive asshole machine.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Equally the only 5 seater Maserati on the market in 2007 was the Quattroporte which is just another CEOs towncar with a V8.
Tumblr media
If you were going European imported sports saloon (which a touch out of character anyway) in that year the Jaguar S-type is right there!! You don't need to speak car to see it.
Tumblr media
However, assuming he wouldn't have replaced his Evo which the even faster Evo that came out in 2007 (0-60 in 3.9, a full 5 seconds faster than that years Porsche) then why go European sports saloon conservative if Andrew could get a suped up Ford Mustang GT with 4.6 ltr V8 (0-60 in 5 seconds with 13.7 second quarter mile) that looks like every cop in 80 miles going to hate you on principle instead of I'm on my way to an important merger.
Tumblr media
I rest my case.

Eccentric Rich Guy Dept.: It’s  a painful sight for classic car enthusiasts- Jaguars, Porsches, Mercedes, BMWs; just a few of the iconic cars you would never expect to find in such a sorry state.
Tumblr media
What will shock you is that these cars are not abandoned, and their owner is in fact a classic car lover and expert who wants it this way.
Tumblr media
Michael Fröhlich is a former designer, racer, philosopher and artist among other things, but is best-known as a unique classic car dealer and expert restorer.
Tumblr media
For years, he drove around his home town of Düsseldorf, Germany in a charred Rolls Royce that was all but incinerated when his dealership burnt down
Tumblr media
He likes to call this forest of rotting cars his Auto Skulpturen Park, a museum/ sculpture park of sorts in the Neander Valley near Mettmann, Germany.
Tumblr media
Surrounded by a security fence in the wooded hillside next to his house, 50 classic cars were parked here when the car enthusiast turned 50 in the year 2000.
Tumblr media
Each and every car was personally tracked down and purchased by Michael himself. “They’re like my brothers,” he says. Many were roadworthy when they were parked on his property, never to be driven again.
Tumblr media
“Nature is stronger than technology, and that I will show here,” said Michael.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
TV crews, photographers and fans were invited to the opening in the summer of 2000, but this “museum” has rarely been open to the public since.
Tumblr media
Fröhlich even has a piece of the Berlin wall inside his sculpture park as well as many cars with scandalous pasts.
Tumblr media
He’s even got the late Queen at the wheel of one of the cars.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The only way to visit this curious place is to contact Michael himself and request it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Since every car on the property has its own unique adventure story that only Michael knows, he’s probably the best bet for a guided tour.
Tumblr media
Michael and his Steel Dragon creation, part of his Crazy Car Collection.
Tumblr media
He bought 50 classic cars just to let them rot. Hmph.

New Justice -> the South's very own Young Justice. Made up of Wavecrasher (Ximena Gutierrez), Racer (Lawen Summers), Rouge Raptor (Theo Mallard), Minotaur II (Andy), and Tsuru II (Celine Judge). Somehow just as, if more, unhinged than main YJ.
Jacinta Tylers -> Jaguar's mother and the ex wife of Al Tylers. She is the best mom and did everything she could to protect Minka and her sister from Al.
Jim Mallard -> Theo's father and the unofficial sponsor of New Justice. Embodiment of too much disposable income.

Brad gets out of his car, locking it up while walking away. The gravel rustles under his shoes as he is walking towards the building. In front of him there is an old but beautiful castle. A red carpet is rolled down the stairs which lead to the front door. He walks up the stairs which are also lit up by torches. A security man asks his identity to which Brad replies with his name. As he enters the building he can hear classical music echoing through the halls of the castle. With a sigh, he enters the ballroom where the event is taking place. He got an invitation from Jaguar, the car company, to this fancy party. Tomorrow there is a race not so far from the castle and they wanted to unite all the biggest car sports fans the evening before. It’s an exclusive party for sponsors, influencers, shareholders and the important people who work in the racing world. It has everything that an exclusive and fancy party should have: fancy food, classical music, and people in suits and fancy dresses. Despite all of it Brad is really not in the mood for such a fancy party although he has no choice.
Brad takes a glass of champagne from a tray and takes a sip. His eyes are scanning the room to see if he recognises anyone. With another sigh, he tries to mingle with the other people. This is really not his scene so he doesn’t know what to do. Should he talk to people or not?
‘You’re Brad Simpson right?’, someone taps him on the shoulder.
‘Yes, that’s me’
‘Nice to meet you, I’m Jason, one of the racers’, he introduces himself.
‘Nice to meet you Jason, so are you ready for tomorrow?’
‘Oh yeah I am, I’m also not staying long, I need a good night's sleep’
‘Wish I could say the same’
‘You don’t like these parties?’
‘No, it’s not really my thing but I don’t really have a choice since I’m sponsored’
‘Yeah I get that, just try to enjoy it a little bit, at least try the food, it’s the best part’, Jason laughs.
‘Maybe I should do that then’
‘I have to go, good luck mate, it was great meeting you’
‘Yeah, you too’
As Jason leaves Brad takes another sip of his glass. Following the guy's advice he makes his way to the table where the food is stalled out. He takes a few things to eat and he needs to admit that the food is not bad. He drinks from his champagne before trying some other things. When his glass is empty he takes another one from a tray.
Brad turns around and decides to leave the ballroom. He walks down one of the castle halls where it is quiet. A few people smile at him when they walk by. In the distance, he sees a girl who is staring at a painting that’s hanging on a wall. Her silhouette and her long hair look familiar. He steps closer and more of her features become visual.
‘Y/N?’, he asks surprised.
You turn around and you can’t believe your eyes. You can’t believe that he is standing here in front of you. It’s been years since you’ve seen him. If you remember correctly it’s 5 years ago since you’ve seen each other. Both of you were 22 at the time. You had a fling with Brad, not something really serious. Your relationship back then was more focused on sex and pleasure but you were young. Neither of you had ended things back then, you just grew apart. Brad went on a world tour and you went to study on the other side of the world. The contact was lost.
‘Brad? What are you doing here’, you ask surprised.
‘I got an invitation for this party, what are you doing here?’
‘My dad works in racing’
‘Yeah that’s right’
You can see that Brad is taking all of you in. His eyes are scanning over your body. He is looking at how your tight black dress is embracing your curves. He bites his lip slightly. You can’t also keep yourself from looking at him. You can see how his shoulders got broader just like his arms and chest. It’s only now that you realise how you’ve missed those chocolate brown curls. You swallow which Brad notices.
‘Maybe we should go back to the party’, you say.
Brad follows you back to the ballroom. When you enter it you see your dad. He is smiling and coming your way.
‘Hi Brad! It’s been a long time since I’ve seen you!’, He says and gives Brad a brotherly hug.
Your father and Brad always got along well. When he was at your house they would laugh and joke the whole evening. If they didn’t talk about cars they would talk about golf as your dad is also a golf fan. Luckily someone starts talking to your dad which gives you the opportunity to pull Brad away from your dad. You’re not really in the mood to listen to a conversation all night that only involves cars and golf.
‘What are we going to do now?’, Brad asks.
‘Dance?’
‘We’re surely not going to slow dance on this music’, Brad sighs.
‘Oh we are, you've got a better idea?’, you smile and you pull him to the place where a few other couples are slow dancing.
Brad takes you by the waist to dance. It feels weird to be here with him but it’s more fun than staring at a few paintings.
‘So, how have you been?’, Brad asks.
‘Good, I finished uni in California and now I’m working for a company in London. How have you been doing?’
‘We’re celebrating the band’s 10-year anniversary this year, it’s been going well
You smile at him not really knowing what to say. He is looking extremely hot and all you can think of his how much fun you two had back then. To be honest it was the best time of your life. Sometimes the two of you would do reckless things like driving around in the middle of the night or exploring places you weren’t really allowed to do that.
‘I’m bored’, you say.
‘You were the one who wanted to dance’, Brad laughs.
‘What if we go discover this castle?’
‘Are we allowed to?’
‘I don’t know but do we care?’
Brad smiles and both of you leave the ballroom again through the same door. You’re wandering through the halls of the castle. The details of the interior are impressive. You open a door that makes a lot of noise. Brad looks at you with a scared face.
‘Y/N, do you really want people to hear us?’
‘Oh come on Brad, you weren’t so scared when we did this years ago’
Brad sighs as you walk into a big room. You guess it’s a big dining room as there is a long table with chairs. Brad follows you as you inspect the room. You touch a statue and you hear Brad sigh again behind you.
‘Please, you’re going to break something’
To provoke him you sit down on the table and Brad rolls his eyes. He stands before you and you take his hands in yours in an impulsive action. Brad looks surprised but he doesn’t let go of your hands. You pull him closer until he is standing between your legs.
‘I’ve missed you Bradley’, you say.
‘I’ve missed you too y/n’
Brad stares into your eyes and you bite your lip. Your fingers are playing with his and you can feel the contrast between his warm fingers and his cold rings. Brad’s eyes never leave yours and it feels like time stands still. It feels like you and Brad are the only people on this world. Brad can’t handle it anymore and pushes his lips onto yours. His warm lips are moving against yours and you can taste the champagne on them. His tongue slips into your mouth and you moan in the kiss. Unaware you pull Brad closer to you and you’re grinding against his crotch. The anticipation is building up as the kiss is getting more heated. You can feel Brad getting hard which turns you on.
‘We should take this to another place’, Brad says out of breath.
‘The guests are staying in the other wing, I have a room there to stay the night’, you say.
You take Brad’s hand and make your way to the other wing. To go there you have to pass the ballroom again as it is on the other side. The halls on this side of the castle are more restored and the rooms are furnished as hotel rooms. You open the door of your room and walk in. You close the door when both of you are in. You turn around to Brad again and you start kissing him again. Your hand is going over his length which becomes even harder under your touch.
Gently you push Brad onto the bed so he is sitting at the end of it. You walk towards him and sit on your knees. You unbutton his pants and Brad helps you to get out of his pants and boxers. His dick is hard and almost touches his belly. Slowly your hand moves over his length and you get wet only looking at his dick. Brad is looking at you with his eyes filled with lust and you look at him while you take his cock into your mouth. You start to suck on the tip and Brad closes his eyes. You take it further into your mouth while you go up and down. Brad moans and throws his head back. You try to take his whole dick into your mouth but it’s difficult because of how big he is. You take him out of your mouth again and you pump him with your hand. Pre-cum is coming out of the tip and as soon as you take him back into your mouth you can taste it.
'Fuck y/n, your lips always feel so good around my dick', Brad moans.
While you're sucking on Brad's cock, your hand is going up and down at the base of it, giving him extra pleasure. To add to that you start to gently play with his balls with your other hand. Brad gasps from all the pleasure you're giving him.
Brad looks down on you to see how you're sucking his dick and he loves the view. He loves how your body looks in that tight dress. He loves the way you're being so desperate for him right now. Nobody could ever make him feel this good like you do.
'How I've missed these lips, take it all in baby', Brad groans and throws his head back again.
His moans are getting harder. You try to take him as deep as you can. His dick is hitting the back of your throat, almost making you gag. You can feel his dick twitching inside your mouth, indicating he is close. You're going up and down faster. Your tongue is playing with his tip, making him go crazy. One of Brad's hands is gripping your hair while the other is keeping him steady on the bed.
'Fuck y/n baby, I'm-, fuck', Brad moans out.
Loud groans are leaving Brad's mouth while his hot load is filling your mouth. You get his cock out of your mouth. His cum tastes salty but you swallow it. Brad looks at you and he smiles.
'Babe, this was amazing', he says.
You love the way he calls you babe, he used to do it all the time when you were together. You stand up and sit on his lap while you throw your arms around his neck.
'Only for you', you say smiling.
Brad kisses you softly this time. A meaningful kiss which tingles on your lips. His lips moving slowly against yours while his hands are on the small of your back. After the kiss you rest your forehead against Brad's.
'What do we do now?', Brad asks.
'I don't know, I don't-', you can't get out of your words.
'Tell me y/n'
'I don't want to lose you again'
Brad takes your face between his hands and makes you look at him. His eyes aren't dark and filled with lust anymore, now they are the brightest brown looking soft. A small smile is playing on his lips.
'I promise you, you won't lose me again princess', Brad promises.
Gently Brad kisses you again and it feels like your life lights up again. It's only now you realize how much you've missed him all these years.

This one-off 1956 Buick Century X was custom-built for GM styling director Bill Mitchell.
Bill Mitchell was Harley Earl’s handpicked successor at GM Design and Styling. Their association seemed to go beyond the standard boss-employee dynamic. Many called it a father-son relationship. Mitchell was just 23 when Earl appointed him chief designer of Cadillac. His design of the ‘38 Cadillac 60 Special was a landmark. But Mitchell was a “Buick man”. His father was a Pennsylvania Buick dealer, and despite being the design prodigy given the reins of the Corporation’s premier car division and style leader, Mitchell ached to draw Buicks. In 1954, Mitchell, right, with the iconic ’65 Mako Shark Corvette, became GM’s Director of Styling, working under Harley Earl. Mitchell drove over 50 “personalized” vehicles during his GM career and was best known for his love of Corvettes and Camaros. But his heart belonged to Buick and, in 1956, he created the customized ’56 Buick Century X. It wasn’t a landmark dream car like Earl’s Buick Y-Job or the ‘51 GM Le Sabre, but a modified production car – special order 90022 – a true factory custom. Buick auto show cars were the glamour models of the Corporation. Much was expected from the Century X; Buick delivered. Mitchell’s 225 changes were more subtle than startling, hardly the usual fare for a GM “dream car” of the 1950s. Dual side exhausts exited through the rocker panels requiring holes cut in the frame with plates welded around the openings for added strength. Century X also wore twin telescoping power headrests, swivel bucket seats, plush carpeting, Skylark-style wire wheels, Mitchell’s signature red chassis, and a prominent tachometer. Chrome accelerator and brake pedal trim told anyone who knew the design section’s secret internal language that this was indeed BILL MITCHELL’S BUICK CENTURY X. Being a racer at heart and taking a page from his mentor’s corporate playbook, Mitchell had the Century X driven to Elkhart Lake, WI for the Road America races in 1956. His timing was good. A new V-8 Corvette – another Mitchell favorite – defeated a field of Jaguars to notch the mighty Corvette’s first victory at Road America. Mitchell spent the race weekend cruising around the resort village much as Harley Earl had done at Watkins Glen during 1951 Grand Prix week with the Le Sabre dream car. Bill Mitchell spent 42 years at GM, working his way up to Vice President of Design, a position he held for 19 years. He retired in 1977 and opened up William L. Mitchell Design, a design consultancy he ran until really retiring in 1984. He passed away in 1988.
