Tamara Natalie Madden (Jamaican, 1975-2017) • The Black Queen • 2010

Tamara Natalie Madden was a Jamaican-born painter and mixed-media artist working and living in the United States. Madden's paintings are allegories whose subjects are the people of the African diaspora. In 2001, Tamara underwent a successful kidney transplant, thanks to a family member organ donor. She died at the age of 42 from ovarian cancer.
