I would love to hear your thoughts on Peter Quint, personally I'm kind of conflicted on him: I hate him for what he has done and I pity him for what has been done to him, that he is so much in pain and anger that he doesn't care about his actions or his behavior. He tried to use Miles's body for his own means, and tried to tell himself that he was better than his father.
(Also that scene between his mother and him was painful, I had to cry 😭)
I love the execution of Peter Quint. My only complaint, which is minor, is the drastic and sudden shift during the scene with Hannah. It isn't that I don't think he was capable of it, I just wish they had shown this capability by gradually increasing his violent tendencies. As it stands, he was only ever violence twice: once when he grabbed Rebecca (and their subsequent argument, if you count that), and then the well scene. Even Rebecca's death was very passive and clearly wasn't something he reveled in.
But even with that (incredibly minor) complaint, I think Peter Quint was rendered wonderfully. As you pointed out, Peter was an abuse victim--specifically, a victim of sexual abuse as a child via his father--who then grew up (and died) to then carry that abuse over onto Miles, another child. Not sexually, but through a sort of grooming nonetheless, consistently crossing Miles' boundaries and disregarding his autonomy, doing what he wanted with Miles' body, in a clear reflection of the way Peter, like so many child abuse victims, didn't have any control or autonomy over his own body in the face of the adults who were supposed to care for him. Miles loved Peter, and I believe Peter did genuinely care for him, which is why Miles allowed Peter to take control of his body, even though Miles clearly wasn't comfortable with it. He still, after everything, trusted Peter, and Peter woefully misused that trust, though I'm sure that because it wasn't sexual, and because he "tucked" Miles' consciousness away safely and comfortably, Peter would never understand the comparison between what he did to Miles and what his father did to him.
I found him fascinating, and I found his relationship with Rebecca--toxic and doomed and unhealthy as it was--fascinating. I do believe Peter loved her, as well as he knew how to love, but having been taught love in such a twisted environment, his love is also twisted. Like Jamie said, he confused love with possession. But I think also, possession was a symptom of his desperation to not lose the first real love he'd ever found for himself. And Rebecca, love of my life, was willing to overlook that possession because she, like many of us, fell in love with someone she thought could be fixed. Obviously, as the audience, we can look at their relationship and see all the signs of toxicity and wrongness; the rage Peter feels when Rebecca interacts with Owen, the way she's so quick to forgive him, his secrecy. But they can't look at themselves from the outside (yet). They're still trapped inside the story, and in the story, they're in love. When you're in love, it's easy to convince yourself that nothing else matters. That your love is worth it. Your love will surmount any obstacle. Your love is different.
For Peter, sick in love and terrified because of it, terrified not only of losing it but of being left behind, forgotten, eroded at the bottom of the lake like so many others, it was easy to convince himself that staying with Rebecca--keeping Rebecca with him--was worth the pain of ending her life. That forging a future with Rebecca was worth the horror of hurting a child, two children, of hurting Hannah, of stealing the lives of children who loved and trusted him, stealing their bodies and using them for his own purposes, just as his was so cruelly stolen from him and used. Peter, as evidenced by his being trapped in the memory of his mother--forced to re-live it over and over, sometimes confronting her the way he never could in real life but knowing that it will never matter because it isn't real, it will never be cathartic and it will never stop, it was just an echo of pain--is a walking, festering wound. As a character, he is defined by pain; he loves painfully, and he dies painfully, and he continues the pain even in death. As a ghost, he's haunted by the form that pain takes, as his mother. And he is terrified of pain. Even when he walks Rebecca's body into the lake, he leaves at the last moment, when the pain comes. So he won't have to feel it. He leaves her to feel it alone.
Rebecca, meanwhile, is perhaps not as wary of pain as she should be. She takes Peter's pain, sure she can heal him. She means to take Flora's pain, so she won't have to suffer.
Jamie exists as Peter's foil. She was also abused as a child. She also hasn't felt real love before her au pair. She is just as lower class and embittered as Peter--but rather than putting her hurt onto others, she helps to heal. She's a gardener. She nurtures things, and helps them grow. She, unlike Peter, does not confuse love with possession.
All of Bly Manor is a love story. Not all the loves are equal, but the love is always there. Owen and Hannah. Miles and Flora. Dani and Jamie. Dani and the children. The children and their uncle. And, possessive and desperate and harmful as it may be, Peter and Rebecca.

So
I have managed a songfic after ages of brainstorming. And I'm gonna post it. I'm not very proud of it, but I tried. And it's my first songfic. So.... Enjoy, I guess.
This is my late contribution to Herongraystairs Week Day 2 : Tessa Gray.
This fic is Tessa reminiscing her old times. The time is during the events of TMI.
House Of Memories
A songfic inspired by the song "House of Memories" By Panic! At The Disco.
Woah, woah
Woah, woah
If you're a lover, you should know
The lonely moments just get lonelier
The longer you're in love
Than if you were alone
Tessa wiped her eyes. She'd been crying without even realising it, for God knows how long. It's December, the outside is wrapped in soft white snow. It had been snowing for a long time. Tessa tried to remember when it had stopped, but couldn't. She'd been staring out the window for so long, but was she really paying attention? She checked her watch. 12:03. It's midnight already. Which means- Another tear escaped her eyes. It's the 30th of December. It's Will's birthday.
Once again, memories flooded through her mind like crashing waves. Will laughing, Will playing with their children and later, grandchildren, even Will singing. She smiled a little at the memory. Will loved to sing. His voice wasn't.....much good for the ears, but it was lively. She chuckled. Whenever Will was in a mood to socialize, he'd sing. Then she remembered the day Will had died. The precise blue of his eyes, which Tessa can't remember anymore, hadn't faded even a little bit. They stayed the same bright blue until his beautiful eyes closed shut. Tessa choked back a sob remembering the moment. Jem was there, holding his hand, having finished playing his violin for his parabatai. One last time.
Neither were with her now. She felt so alone. Perhaps it gets lonelier with time. Especially if you're immortal and keep seeing your loved ones die before your very eyes. Tessa had loved only two people in her life. Both were gone now.
Memories turn into daydreams become a taboo
I don't want to be afraid
The deeper that I go
It takes my breath away
Soft hearts electric souls
Heart to heart and eyes to eyes
Is this taboo?
Tessa had so many memories. So many. They keep fading with time. They keep fading and slipping away. Tessa can't bear the thought of completely losing them someday. It'd be like losing her Will again. But slowly. Agonizingly. She wants to preserve the memories until she dies. Which is.... She doesn't know how long. Tessa sighed. The memories- they keep chasing her everywhere. Sometimes, she wakes up from a nightmare, crying out for Jem, only to realize Will is no more there to comfort her. She cries, and cries and cries, and lets the memories take control. She lets the sad ones make her cry until the happy ones come to soothe her soul and put her back to sleep, with tear stains on her face. Without Will. Without Jem.

And when your fantasies
Become your legacy
Promise me a place
In your house of memories
Woah, woah
Woah, woah
Tessa got down from her place beside the window and went to get the photo albums she'd preserved for so long. Over a century. The photos are faded now. She can barely make out the faces of the people in them. But she can tell who is who even with her eyes closed. She brushed her fingertips over the photos, as if caressing the faces of her loved ones who were once alive. But not anymore. They're all gone. She flipped the pages of the album and tried to remember once again their features. The features that made them different. She can remember, but not precisely. She knows Jamie had golden eyes. Beautiful golden eyes. The sign of her warlock heritage. But she can't remember the precise gold. Tears started falling again. She closed the album.
Perhaps when they're finally reunited, she can remember them again. She'll have her family again. With her. Happy. "Wait for me," She thought, "on the other side. I'll meet you there. Someday. For sure. Wait for me until then." She made a silent promise and got up. It's late already.
I think of you from time to time
More than I thought I would
You were just too kind
And I was too young to know
That's all that really matters
I was a fool
Tessa remembered the first time she met Will. She chuckled. He almost got hit by the jug she'd thrown at him. The string of curses- she grinned thinking of it. She'd always found him beautiful. Since the time she first saw him. He was like a fictional hero come to life. Just like she'd once imagined. He was so beautiful he'd taken her breath away for some time. Then he'd quoted Inferno and then they'd bonded over books. It was like a dream. She chuckled again, remembering his sarcastic and witty remarks and his puzzled face when she or Jem made cleverer retorts. As if he didn't have better comebacks. And he really didn't. For example the time when.....
Her mind got flooded with memories once again, this time happier ones, as she remembered their first everything.

The first time she'd met Jem, it was midnight. He had been playing his violin and she'd been hearing it in her dream. She smiled a little as she remembered him totally engrossed in playing. They'd talked a lot that night, until Will came in. She still remembers the way they'd looked at each other. Like they were two halves of one soul. As they were. She remembered Will's absurd story of Six-Fingered Nigel, and smiled. He'd never been able to completely hide himself from them, had he? Then again, he had. Not quite completely, but mostly. She sighed remembering how worried and protective he'd gotten when Jem had started coughing that night, and when he made her promise not to tell anyone about it. She still remembers Jem's smile when they'd been talking and then him bickering with Will when he entered. She still remembers those two laughing and smiling and bickering. All three of them had their own secrets. But they'd managed to open up to each other with time.
Those thoughts of past lovers
They'll always haunt me
I wish I could believe
You'd never wrong me
Then will you remember
Me in the same way
As I remember you
Tessa remembered the time when Will had gotten too protective of his secret. When she fell in love with him. When they both fell for each other. When they couldn't hold back. She remembered how he'd treated her. Against his own will. Against his heart's desire. How he broke his own heart by breaking hers, thinking that he was keeping her safe. How he'd repeatedly pushed her away, thinking about his curse and caring too much. How his eyes lit up when he talked about Jem. How much he loved Jem. How worried he'd been when Cecily had arrived. How his eyes got soft everytime he mentioned his family and Jem.
Tessa still remembers the time he thrust his hands into the fireplace just to retrieve Jem's Yin Fen. The drug that kept Jem alive. How Jem had thrown it in the fire without having a second thought because he wanted to save Tessa. The love that the three of them shared, it was an exceptional kind of love. Not everyone gets so lucky.
Baby we built this house
On memories
Take my picture now
Shake it til you see it
And when your fantasies
Become your legacy
Promise me a place
Tessa remembered Woolsey Scott's words. "Most people are lucky to have even one great love in their life. You have found two." Then she'd lost them both.
She remembered hearing about.... Jem....from Will. In Cadair Idris. She remembered the pang in her heart she'd felt. She swallowed the sob that was coming up. They hadn't lost Jem after all. But they didn't have him near, either.
She remembered meeting Jem... In his Silent Brother robes. Her Jem. Their lost Jem. She remembered the look in Will's eyes after their meeting. She remembered the endless nights of nightmares. The nights of Will and her comforting each other. She remembered years of Jem being by their side. By her children's sides. Always. For centuries. She and Jem. The constants in each other's lives. Still so distant.
Baby we built this house
On memories
Take my picture now
Shake it til you see it
And when your fantasies
Become your legacy
Promise me a place
In your house of memories
Woah, woah
Woah, woah
"Wait for me," She whispered, to no one in particular, yet to so many people. Her Will. Her children. Her family. "Wait for me. I'll meet you on the other side."
In your house of memories
Woah, woah
Promise me a place (woah, woah)

Last episode...
Probably last ever Game of Thrones episode will begin with Dany’s trope marching into the city - the Unsullied lining up, etc. Her coming out to name herself Queen.
Tumblr media
Possibly we then move onto Tyrion's trial. This was leaked a long time ago and I have a hard time believing word about Tyrion having let Jamie go (even if he & Cersei died in the end) won't reach Dany's ears quite quickly even in the chaos.
Imagine her first act as Queen being burning Tyrion. I don’t like him but I’d still hate for him to go out burning.
Maybe that's even the reaction shot we get of Arya, looking up in disgust/ anger at something from the promo. Or maybe that's "only" of Dany declaring herself Queen. Or her looking at Drogon.
Tumblr media
But maybe there won't be a Tyrion trial until later (or at all if some leaks are to be believed, I firmly feel he needs to pay for enabling Dany for so long + betraying the Starks + Shae) BUT maybe he'll have a chance to do something about not siding with Varys (and Jon) earlier and somehow help Jon before being put on trial. They were friends of sorts once and that would be a bit of a call back to season 1. It’s clear we’ll be getting some of his POV as he walks through the city and realizes his mistake, in the promo. Maybe he’ll tell Jon to ride north before Dany decides to execute them both.
Tumblr media
I wish I could predict Jon will have had some sense and taken his remaining men north but I’m not sure. He’s not in the trailer so it’s possible. But unlikely. But he's at least figured out he can't just sit back and let Dany be Queen. Not when she’s just gotten done killing thousands of civilians, in a city that had surrendered to her. I mean he has to have realized this! He just can’t keep walking around with his head in the sand.
But maybe we will get him killing Dany and going to the wall like some leaks suggested? I’d hate it but it’s a possibility. Especially if he’s staying in the city. But if they do that who is going to rule? Who is qualified? Is there anyone left (but Sansa, who has no claim). Would they really attempt the whole Bran & remaining folks rule together as a council? I feel like Bran as king would be the biggest let down ever.
IDK, depends on the timeline. If after Dany’s initial “I’m the Queen bow down to me” as she takes control of King’s Land we get a time skip? Then things could be very different. If she calls all remaining lords to KL, including Bran and Sansa, and we get some politics...IDK. Then maybe a council of some sort could be believed.
But it doesn’t seem likely, does it?
Besides, we don't have any conflict BUT Dany/ Jon left, all the other baddies are dead. Cersei, Euron, Golden Company. And Dany has won. She’s claimed the throne. She still has one dragon. All the dragon killing balistas are gone. She’s gonna be hard to beat. Especially in one ep.
I guess the real question is, what will she do now. How will she rule?
What is her first course of action? Execute Tyrion? All remaining Lannister soldiers? Attempt to kill Jon? Exile him? We don’t know at this point, all we know is that she is officially the Queen of Ashes. We know she doesn't like mercy so she’s hardly going to pardon anyone, now is she?
Tumblr media
My favorite theory (that I’m hopeful for and would enjoy would be) Arya killing Dany. That would mean she gets to kill the most bad guys (with her taking down Walder Frey and the Night King in the last few seasons) out of everyone which would be cool! Or even more interesting and useful would be Arya killing Drogon. Then Dany would execute her, or try to, making the Starks truly and fully her enemies. And the horse does foreshadow her going after DT, both with Dany’s own white horse, back in season 1 and the whole horsemen of the apocalypse and the Prince Charming on a white horse off to slay the dragon motif.
Tumblr media
Behold a pale horse and he that sat upon him, his name was Death.
Tumblr media
Arya taking down Dany or Drogon makes sense and would be satisfying. She’s seen the horror of what Dany and her dragon did up and close. This would also mean Jon would not have to kill Dany, which I’d prefer. We have enough of men killing women they’ve slept with/ “love”. I like this idea more and more and it feels in character and like it makes sense with what happened during episode 5. I don’t feel like this would be Arya backsliding into vengeance like some have mentioned. She decided to live when she talked to the hound but she also wants to live free. Killing Dany is not a personal vengeance it is justice and something that will contribute to a better future.
Arya taking out Dany or Drogon while Jon goes north, might also fit in with the Riverland clash we saw in the first trailer with the fire and ice meet in the middle of Westeros. Sansa could meet Jon halfway, having gathered the remaining men / the ones that have healed up enough to reinforce Jon’s army? Because Bran saw it in his visions or Vary’s little birds got word of things and decided they would prefer Jon.
Tumblr media
Who else forgot all about this trailer? It still might have some foreshadowing...
Tumblr media
If Jon doesn't go North and all we get is a cluster fuck in KL. Well, maybe once word that Dany is dead (maybe Arya kills her) reach them, the Northen Lords just decided to name Sansa Queen. Because f*ck those Targaryan bastards, Jon did side with D, gave up his crown and fought by her side in King’s Landing. They might not want him for King and who’d blame them at this point?
So we might simply get Queen Sansa in the north. I wouldn’t love this, but at this point, I’ll take anything I could get. But really Jonsa makes a lot more sense and is basically the only way for the story to have a tiny bit of a positive end.
So let’s say Jon do go north, possibly to Riverrun and met up with Sansa and the remaining lords (are there any?), the north/whole of Westeros would be all “we don’t want a Targaryan ruler because they’re clearly into burning shit” and Sansa would be all “What about a Stark?” and a Jonsa political wedding could go down.
Jon would be re-named king (in the north or all of Westeros)? after this, with Sansa as his Queen (because if she’s not going to be Queen, what was the point of Sansa’s arch really? We need also succession and she is the only one that makes sense.)
Dany targeting Sansa and Jon stepping in somehow would also be fun and could happen instead of a wedding but feels unlikely with how he’s been for the past two seasons. But maybe the reveal is in this ep.
Tumblr media
Then maybe just as they have the wedding sorted out, news that Arya killed Drogon reach them (or she killed Dany herself, maybe she’ll wear Grey Worm’s face doing it? Feel like he’s the only character actually fully on D’s team left.) Dany and her remaining soldiers against Jon’s remaining ones? I don’t think we’ll get another big battle so not sure. Maybe Arya kills Dany and Drogon just flies off? Or goes crazy so the Unsuild have to kill him or something?
Both Dany and Drogon should be dead by the end at least. Else they’re doing some good old dystopian shit. A terrible, history repeats itself and you can’t escape it. The big superpowers will always have the weapons of mass destruction and people in power will always be able to do what they want with the small people thing.
I do believe we will get dead Dany and Drogon and that the last scene is something reminiscent of Winterfell’s opening with the kids shooting arrows or Samwell Tarly reading to/telling the story of the Song of Ice and Fire the next generation.
Only how do they make even half of this happen in 80 minutes? Maybe they can, but really, I'm preparing for a very depressing ending. Something fitting with the whole "you can't escape your destiny" vibe that seems to be happening this season. Still, I have a little bit of hope we'll get some sort of "sweet" ending since 1/2 million people dying (or whatever the population of King’s Landing was) feels like enough bitterness.

Ok so, I read a lot of your work on Ao3, but I just found your blog, and I gotta say, Armies is one of the best fic that I read, it's absolutely amazing ! Thanks for the work that you put into it ! I really love the Hartford verse, I saw the prompt you did in it, it's so great ! I don't know, I just really like the family ! Do you have, like random facts or just little things about them ? (If that doesn't bother you to tell us) ! Thanks again for writing it ;)
Thank you SO MUCH. 😘 I’m really proud of that fic and so happy when people enjoy it, the darkness aside. And I do adore my Hatfords (well, Stuart’s not really mine, I just expanded on his grumpy greatness).
Of course I have a lot of little facts about them tucked away - it seems there’s never a chance to get all of it down on fic. Let’s see…
Jamie idolizes Mary. It’s not a blind idolization, mind you, but she grew up hearing all these stories from her dad and uncle and even a bit from her mum about Aunt Mary, about this lovely young woman whom no one could really control, who was smart and headstrong and could take down men twice her size and outwit just about anyone. She heard the affection and admiration and longing in their voices and wanted to be just like her aunt, wanted people to talk about her like that.
It wasn’t until she grew older and learned about Nathan Wesninski, about what had happened in Baltimore and why Mary had left her husband, had run off with adorable young Abram that Mary became more of a cautionary tale. She still wanted to be like Mary… but a smart Mary. A Mary who didn’t cause her family so much grief.
It’s also in part why she looks after Abram so much.
Will fell for Miriam when he was with a couple of cousins and enforcers around his age, and ran into a small group of young women out enjoying themselves. One in particular refused to be intimidated by him and his friends, to put up with the crude language and come-ons, and he was intrigued. So he and a couple of others kept going back to where the women hung out, and eventually Miriam became charmed despite herself with the way he put up with her sharp tongue and put-downs.
She came from enough of a ‘socially disadvantaged’ background to know what it meant to be with a Hatford, but wasn’t involved in that life before she meet him. That’s part of the reason why many people in the syndicates favor Abram over her children.
Ally was definitely spoiled a bit as the third child/second boy. Part of it was Miriam’s (and a little Will’s as well) hope that he would decide to live a life outside of the ‘family business’ since there was Henry and Jamie to take over things (to not be Mary). That’s part of the reason for his often foolish behavior, why he doesn’t take things seriously; he grew up knowing that his older siblings would take care of things and do it well. It’s still one big game to him, something he can walk away from at any moment.
At least, it was, until he met Nathan Wesninski. Even so, it’s hard to change after so many years, but he’s trying.
Stuart was always closer to Mary than Will, there was less of an age gap between him and his younger sister than his older brother. That wasn’t to say that he and Will didn’t get along, because Will took his job as the oldest seriously (Will takes everything seriously, as Miriam likes to tease), but he was older and had a lot of expectations on him. Stuart was the middle child and second son, and often had to look after Mary (which had somewhat to do with her rebelling so much). Which was why in part he always saw her as his little sister, as someone to protect and look after, and couldn’t understand why she insisted on marrying some Yank with cold eyes and a cruel smile, why she had to move to the States. Why she wouldn’t accept help when she finally left the abusive bastard.
He could count the times he’d cried once he’d hit puberty on one hand (the first time he’d had his heart broken, each time his parents had died), and he’d cried again when Abram had called him to tell him about Mary. Then he’d put aside the grief so he could focus on his dear sister’s son, the only bit of her he had left even if he barely knew the boy.
He’d die before he let anything happen to Mary’s child - he wouldn’t fail her again.
He’d die before he let anything happen to Ram. He wouldn’t let the boy down ever again.
Henry. Ah Henry. He was so much like his father, so serious and earnest, yet he had enough of his mother in him to unleash a smile so charming which made people forget that he could shoot you in the heart without the expression slipping if he felt just cause. No one doubted that the Hatfords would continue to grow, to expand, with him as the heir apparent.
Then he saw Jamie’s back exposed during the fight with Nathan’s people, and he did what his father had always taught him, and that was to put blood before everything else, and Jamie became the new heir apparent.

Mom: "Oh, she's gonna lose it. She is gonna lose her shit."
Jamie looks at Cersei from the ship
Me: "He just CAME BACK?! He didn't kill those bitches?! Oh my God. Jamie, you're fucking fired."
Margaery still in the cell
Mom: "This poor girl."
Me: "No one got her out yet?! What the fuck."
High Septim: "Your husband misses you terribly."
Mom: "What?"
Me: "Tommen."
Mom: "Who?"
Me: "The king, ma. She married the king? She's the queen?"
Mom: "OH!"
To be fair, I don't think she caught what the high septim dude said to Margaery, and she keeps forgetting Tommen's name
Mom: (on the high septim) "Who is this guy to judge anybody?"
Me: "Hahaha!"
-
Dorne
Elliria and co just straight up murder everybody?
Me: "Really? Ugh."
Me: "I'm genuinely annoyed I have to watch this storyline. Like, who is this bitch and why do I care?"
Mom: "I'm so aggravated."
Drystane chillin' in his chamber
Mom: "Oh, God. They're gonna kill him."
Me: "Because I guess that's just what they do? Kill everyone because... why? Oberyn? Did Drystane kill Oberyn? Did Marcella kill Oberyn? What the FUCK?"
Mom: "I guess they're in control now."
Me: "This makes no fucking sense. Are they just crazy, or...?"
-
Meereen
Me: "Oh, I guess we're with Tyrion now. Motive doesn't matter in Dorne."
Mom: "Oh, her dragons are still there!"
Ships are burning
Mom: "Dragons!"
Me: "No, someone burned her ships."
Jorah rides with Dario and looks at his greyscale
Me: "They're gonna have to like hack his hand off."
Mom: "Why didn't he do that to begin with?"
Me: "He probably likes his hand."
Mom: "She dropped her ring! He will find it! Because he loves her. Ungrateful bitch. The other guy wouldn't have found it."
Daenerys marches with the horde
Mom: "Close your eyes and call your dragon. They want to fuck you in the ass and shit."
Daenerys speaks Dothraki
Mom: "'What up, motherfucker?'"
Daenerys rattles off all her titles
Mom: "God, her eighteen names. Call the dragon. Fuck this."
-
Braavos
Arya
Mom: "Oh my God, she's blind and begging? She's blind and begging."
Creepy girl shows up
Me: "Who the fuck is this bitch?"
Mom: "I think it's the guy."
Me: "Who's the guy, even?"
The creepy girl tosses a stick at Arya
Mom: "Oh fuck. Fight blind."
-
The Wall
Mom: "Oh my God. Oh my God. Jon Snow. Kill this guy. Motherfucker."
Alliser asks Davos and co to surrender
Me: "Fuck that. He's gonna kill them."
Mom: "The red woman. Bring her in!"
Mom: "She's already fucked up. Killed the girl, the wife hung herself, the guy died."
Melisandre starts to disrobe
Me: "Why is this bitch always naked?"
Mom: "Right? She's not even hot."
She takes off her necklace
Me: "Oh my God she's old!"
Mom: "OH, she IS old!"
Me: "Yeah, she's really not hot."
Me: "I think she was immortal and now she's done and she's gonna die."
Mom: "She can't die! They need her!"
-
After the show
Mom: "So Jon's dead but he's not. The red woman's gotta come back for like a hot minute to bring him back. Because he's in all the other episodes. What the fuck's she doing?"
Me: "Well, she was devoted to the god of death, which is the same god Arya's people she's with worship. The necklace was like her thing that symbolized her service to the god. She just took it off and gave up her service like 'fuck you, God' because everything she did went wrong. So she's done with that."
Mom: "Okay, but Jon has to come back. And he's the only one who killed a white walker."
Me: "Sam did too."
Mom: "No, but not with a sword."
Me: "But Sam killed a white walker. It's the only brave thing he's done, you gotta give it to him."
Mom: "Okay, but he killed it with that dragon shit, not with a sword. How many swords like that are around?"
Me: "They don't know. The only ones we know about are the one Jon has and the one Ned had, which is now two swords. Brienne has one, and I don't know who has the other one because it was Joffrey's. I don't know who got it when he died. Maybe Tommen."
Mom: "Who?"
Me: "The king."
Mom: "Oh, the brother!"
Me: "Yes."
We then had a lengthy debate about how the white walkers and the wights work and whether or not they can get far enough south for anyone to give a shit. Mom thinks they can't cross running water and that they can't last in hot weather, and that winter weather will not affect the south (like Dorne and Meereen). I'm not 100% sure if any of that's true or not. She wanted me to look it up but I wouldn't because I don't want spoilers.
