My build for the Simsie Chicken Shell Challenge:
A small traditional home with a Japanese garden and hot springs
30 x 20 lot
§ 54.176
2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom
NoCC
Origin ID: Bewarethenifla
What you need to know before downloading:
Please place while having bb.moveobjects on.
It shows as having CC on the gallery because of the photos I added. You will have to check the box for showing CC builds if you’re trying to find it. I promise it does not actually have CC.
I used a lot of packs for the build. If you don’t have some of these packs it might still be okay to download. You absolutely need to have Snowy Escape as 80% of the build and buy objects I used are from that pack. I also reccomend having Dream Home Decorator as I used some of the included items for the shelf wall in the teenage bedroom and kitchen appliances plus a few clutter items. If you don’t have any of the others you’re fine. These will be mainly clutter items and are only 1 or 2 per pack. Most of the plants I used outside are base game and Snowy Escape, though a select few may be from different packs and should not be super noticeable if they disappear. The desk in the teenage bedroom is from tiny living. Bigger desks would be hard to fit if you need to replace that, however other packs have also included one tile desks.

“glorification of an imagined unified Western Traditional Culture as the single objective best culture is a fascist red flag” and “a lot of modern vernacular architecture is boring, actively harmful to the mental health of people who live around it, destroying older buildings that had more personality, and shoddily built + as bland as possible for the ever profit-focused needs of capitalism” are concepts that can coexist
like. yes, be wary of Roman Statue Profile Pics decrying “modernity” on Twitter, but the idea that IKEAfying the world is somehow Progressive and if you don’t like it you MUST be far-right is just. bizarre

i was very surprised at how difficult it was to find (good) resources for learners that accurately describe how 部首 (in English we translate this to be the "radical") work in 漢字 (kanji). i pulled these from a very comprehensive guide of kanji from おじゃちゃん, a native speaker who is also a language teacher and if youre interested in learning more, you should check out her full overview here.
to a beginner this might not be as useful - but when you get deep enough into japanese i think it's worth it to understand how kanji is actually used by native speakers. understanding how the radical works can also help you guess at meanings and recognize common patterns that may make memorizing kanji easier

"I wish this shelter to blend with the landscape. I will make it of the rock to be found there, of the lumber to be found there, and I will cover it with the vines that are native"
RUSSEL WRIGHT'S MANITOGA (2011)
This short film from Anthropologie explores the beautiful Manitoga, which was created on a ravaged industrial site in Garrison, NY. The land was regenerated by mid century designer Russel Wright and his wife, designer Mary Einstein Wright, to be a home, studio and garden for their family. After Mary's death, buildings were designed with architect David Leavitt.
The site is open to the public as the Russel Wright Design Centre (although currently closed due to winter weather). It also appears in the documentary ART HOUSE (2016). (Image via Dwell)
