We turned this Pokemon from the land of Kitakami into a festival treat during this week's Pokemon baking livestream over on Twitch!
Kudamono ame - candied fruits - are a popular Japanese festival treat. 🎆 While we didn't make ours with the traditional millet flour starch, we did flavour our candy with cinnamon, and it was a perfect combination! Dipplin's eyes and tail are made from chocolate (and I can't count how many times the pieces broke on me 🥲) and I painted on gold luster dust for the shiny.
It's also really cool that this new Pokemon dropped right around Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year - which we celebrate with apples and honey to represent a sweet new year! 🍯
When the capital was established in Kyoto in 794, Hirano Shrine has long enjoyed prosperous relationship with the Imperial family, and the two Samurai factions, the Genji and the Heike, that served them.
A sakura festival has occurred at the shrine every single year since 985, for over a thousand years. This makes it the oldest festival in Kyoto that can claim to have continued unbroken for that long.
Made by a chef who came directly from Japan🇯🇵. Black vinegar chicken nanban with egg tartar🍗. Fried chicken cooked with black vinegar, cloaked in fluffy egg batter🍳. The meat taste fragile and smooth. Not very oily. More natural. Not that salty. The egg sauce makes the chicken more fresh. Fulfilling and delicious😋
After cancellations due to typhoons, then three years of pandemic restrictions, 2023 marked the resumption of our local festival. It was again great to be out in the warm sunshine with a cool breeze blowing through the forest...
Day 4 of #Creamtober2023 , Cream and Cheese in their Tokyo 2020 Olympic games outfits! I've been calling it a kimono for years, when it's clearly a yukata lol. I feel so uncultured! This took forever cause I struggled to get the lighting right, but it's still on time, and I love how it turned out! Cream should be playable in a future Mario & Sonic Olympic game, but this cute outfit was totally worth the wait ~ 💙⭐️
Music is the Town Overworld from Mario & Sonic at the 2020 Olympic Games!
I got bored and did the ‘characters based on 3 Emojis’ thingy!
I made six in total: These three I enjoy the most ‘cause they all look like they’re from the same universe (like they’re at a Japanese festival of sorts!)
This one character I also like who doesn’t fit in with the other three
And two really crappy Pokemon designs (I did these two first that’s why they’re so…blegh)
Went to Sake and Sakura last night at my Botanical Garden!! The Sakura were very few, but the sake was GREAT and I got to try seven new kinds, met the Sumo world CHAMPION who said he liked my yukata, and got to hear some AMAZING taiko drumming!!
All in all it was amazing! Too bad about the tea house island tho ;; it was such a far walk that by the time we got there, there were shooing us out ;w;
