The New Year's holiday is one of the most important times for Japanese people. It's a time to clean the house, make resolutions, forget the old year, and make a clean start.
The kanji should be pretty easy for Japanese learners:
新 = new (pronounced "a-ta-ra-shi-i" by itself, and "shin" when in conjunction with other kanji)
年 = year (pronounced "toshi" by itself, and "nen" when in conduction with other kanji)
Some other New Years vocabulary:
大晦日 = New Year's Eve (o-o-mi-so-ka)
元日 = New Year's Day (gan-ji-tsu)
元旦 = New Year's morning (gan-tan).
These last two are often confused, even by native Japanese speakers because they look so similar. A good way to distinguish them is to remember that 日 means "sun". The kanji for new year's morning contains 旦 which looks like a sun just coming over the horizon.
I started learning Japanese a few weeks ago, so I really wanted to make this post. It's well known about Korea & Japan's past and the reason why they have so many things, not only foods + culture, but words that are similar.
💥I don't usually like to include romanization but for the sake of this concept being well understood by Japanese & Korean learners there will be romanization | romaji. Also there is audio included at the end.
This song describes Zaria's trauma when losing her family. I would call this " Zaria's 損失 Arc "
This is when Zaria was training to be a Demon Slayer and building up to becoming a Hashira. I'll call this " Zaria's Training Arc" or " Zaria's 訓練 Arc"
This is when Zaria and Muichiro fell in love and Zaria found peace. I will probably call this " Zaria's 愛する Arc"
All together I would call this " Demon Slayer, Solar Eclipse Arc" or "鬼滅の刃 日食編 "
Now in the Oxford English Dictionary, “Ikigai” is defined as “a motivating force; something or someone that gives a person a sense of purpose or a reason for living”
Whilst this concept has existed in Japanese culture for a long time, it was popularised by a Japanese psychiatrist Mieko Kamiya in the 1960s.
More recently it has been introduced to the West by various popular psychology books.
What’s your Ikigai? ;)
