This parallel feels so special, so perfectly special: standing in front of Darkling in the "Siege and storm", Alina was repeating "I won't scream", and she thought, she was going insane; while Nina, locked in a torture chamber, was repeating "I won't beg", standing in front of Brum in the "Six of crows". Two women, who suffered from the men with an enormous power; two women, who survived and didn't give up on fighting. They were magnificent.
Sorry for my English, we all love the women of Grishaverse.

The only tragedy of possibly having a screen adaptation of six of crows is that we won’t be able to hear Nina’s thought track whilst talking to Jarl Brum, because girlie was throwing shade and I adored it. A few of my faves:
Brum: How are you liking our country?
Nina: It’s a magical place!
Nina, internally: If you like ice, ice, and more ice
Brum, patting her arm: Good girl
Nina, internally: Maybe I’ll make you impotent
Brum: It is where we hope to here the voice of Djel
Nina, internally: Djel says “you’re a fanatic drunk on your own power, try again next year!”
It’s one of my favourite scenes, but the show fans may never know 😭

I am not a fan that they pretty much adapted CK already, but on the series’s sense there can be a bright side
You’ll see, Pekka Rollins is not the main villain of Soc nor CK , Jarl Brum is probably the main treat on the first and Van Eck on the second. And they are way harder villains to take down, which means the stakes are higher, Jarl Brum rules the whole country so he holds more power while with Van Eck, Kaz can’t defeat him like he did with Pekka Rollins, you know why.
So at least the CK subplot may be useful for that, having worse villains than raise the danger

I find this blog and its thorough breakdown of S&B to be an absolute blessing. Especially since this is one of the few books that started out with so much promise and by the latter half went to absolute shite. I agree that the Darkling was nothing but a respectful gentleman for a vast majority, while Mal was disgustingly cruel to his 'best friend' and Alina was a doormat who in the end shows very little positive growth. It's like LB is saying, "if a dude treats you respectfully, it's all a sham!" I couldn't even bring myself to read past book one I was so upset.
There are other "controversial" wisdoms to learn from these books:
Accept oppression and genocide, because if you can fight back, you deserve to be slaughtered.
All wars and social injustices will stop, if you say pretty please...
Killing and maiming are inexcusable, unless you have a nice cry about it, or you're POV's gf's Nazi dad...
... sorry, I got carried away. This was RoW. Slightly different can of worms.
