Love was an unfamiliar territory for Jaskier, an uncharted realm where he navigated cautiously. Uncertain of whether his parents had truly loved him or simply embraced the notion of loving the idea of Juilan, he found himself grappling with the complexities of affection. While Jaskier had indulged in numerous physical encounters before, those encounters were mere acts of carnal pleasure, devoid of any deeper emotional connection. Yes, Jaskier enjoyed sex, but he understood it to be separate from love.

In the past, Jaskier had harbored a deep affection for Geralt, but he eventually came to terms with the unreciprocated nature of his feelings. Geralt would never love him in return. However, when it came to Radovid, everything changed. Jaskier was certain that he loved Radovid, and he had reason to believe that Radovid reciprocated those feelings.

Jaskier and Radovid had experienced a period of profound happiness together. Their days were brimming with endless conversations that left Jaskier feeling a delightful sense of exhilaration at their conclusion. Jaskier took pleasure in teaching Radovid the intricacies of playing the lute, and the prince appeared to genuinely enjoy the lessons. As night fell, Jaskier and Radovid shared intimate moments in bed, their love and passion intertwining flawlessly. It was an idyllic union, until it abruptly faltered.

Jaskier found himself entrusted with the task of bringing Ciri to Redania, but he was resolute in his commitment never to coerce her. He also held firm in his loyalty to his chosen family: Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri. Despite the tight deadline of five days he was given to accomplish the mission, Jaskier ultimately faltered and failed in his endeavor.

Philippa and Dijkstra showed no qualms about undoing Jaskier's efforts as the sandpiper, viewing it as a suitable punishment. However, Radovid's loyalty lay not with Jaskier, the man he professed to love, but with Redania. Thus, Radovid devised a plan to penalize Jaskier for his failure to fulfill the task: a punishment that involved putting him into a deep slumber for five hundred years

Jaskier made a desperate plea to Radovid, professing his love and hoping for a way to remain together. To Jaskier's surprise, Radovid admitted his love for him and proposed an alternative: they could still be together, albeit with Jaskier being in a perpetual slumber. Despite the gravity of the situation, Radovid assured Jaskier that he would take care of him during his sleep. With a heavy heart, Jaskier accepted his fate as Philippa cast the spell, enveloping him in a deep and timeless sleep.

Within a matter of days, Jaskier's true family came to his rescue. Geralt and Yennefer arrived, their hearts both shocked and devastated upon discovering Jaskier's fate. Geralt gathered the sleeping bard into his arms, his protective instincts heightened, while Yennefer made a solemn vow to find the counter spell that could shatter the sleeping enchantment. In the midst of their efforts, Radovid entered the room, attempting to halt their escape, claiming his actions stemmed from love for Jaskier. In a burst of emotion, Geralt vehemently disagreed, shouting that it was not love but possession.

With determination and defiance, they departed, Geralt issuing a stern warning to Radovid that he would not hesitate to kill him should he ever approach Jaskier again, regardless of his status as a prince. Once safely away from the clutches of Redania, their focus turned to reuniting with Ciri. Holding Jaskier tenderly, Geralt pressed a gentle kiss to his bard's forehead, promising to find a way to break the sleeping spell and reunite them once more.

Yet, despite the apparent harmony surrounding him, Geralt couldn't shake an unsettling feeling. Deep within, he sensed that something was amiss. It was during one fateful night when Jaskier casually made a remark that triggered a surge of memories within Geralt's mind.

A sudden recollection struck him like a bolt of lightning — he had been on a contract, locked in a perilous battle with a monstrous creature possessing the ability to ensnare its victims within fabricated worlds of dreams. These dreamscapes rendered their captives powerless, stripping them of their ability to fight back. The only escape from this illusory trap was the annihilation of the creature itself.

Realizing the truth of his situation, Geralt understood what he had to do in order to reunite with his true family: Yennefer, Ciri, and Jaskier. With heavy heart, he clenched his swords tightly and strode purposefully back toward the cabin. Determined to vanquish the counterfeit existence that held him captive, Geralt readied himself to deliver the fatal blow to his fictitious loved ones
