Requested by: @roxi-reid @fictional-hooman thanks for the request ❤️
Warnings: not really much...I'm writing this before I make the story so...just read it.
A/n: this takes place in Season 2!
_____________
Y/n and Jaskier had met by Y/n traveling with the Witcher. Her and Geralt had stopped in a tavern and the bard started singing, when he came to bother the Witcher he didn't expect the effect he would have on the young elf girl.
She was from Vanyaria, her people were slaughtered by whom they called "Dark strangers from distant lands" more commenly known as humans. The Vanyar elves were a strong and magical people, hunted for there wings and for slaves.
When the Vanyar's were killed Y/n was left alone. She had no place to go, the young princess was lost. Untill she was found by none other than Geralt of Rivia.
The more Jaskier tagged along with them Y/n fell for him more and more. She felt more alive than ever when he smiled or sang his songs to her. When she told Geralt about her feelings for the bard he didn't approve. But the two still danced around each other like courting swan's, but when Yennefer broke Geralts heart and left, he took Y/n and did the same.
Y/n was furious, she had fell in love with Jaskier and Geralt took her away? She didn't understand why he couldn't be with them. And now the child suprise!? Now Y/n felt as if she was the outcast, the tag along. Y/n no longer felt needed, so one night she left. While Ciri and Geralt slept she went away, alone in the world once again. When she heard about the other elves being hauled off and imprisoned, she went into hiding.
Then she was at a tavern and got an ear full of a man who the elves called "The sandpiper".
And now here she was watching he sing in front of all the people in the bar. He wasn't as clean and kept as he used to be. His hair was longer and he had whiskers. His clothes were tatered and his song was full hurt, Geralt had lift a number on him and he didn't hide it very well.
He locked eyes with her and they both sang "BURN! BUTCHER! BURN!"
he finished his song with more sorrows and when it was over the bar cleared. He nearly ran to her, he pulled her close and captured Y/n's lips in a bruising kiss.
"I knew you would come back to me, my sweet."
THE END ❤️
Part 2.....😏🌹

im in my jaskier obsession era
so i did this!
just so no one tries to j'accuse me, i did this by painstakingly going over the original screenshot, color grabbing and (digitally) painting over each section that was that specific color (or close enough to that color)
i guess it's technically tracing but i still put many many hours into it and so I'm proud of how it turned out
oh yeah and then i played around with the background to make it more artistic and less loud and distracting
so yeah, that's my technique for this! tell me ur thoughts, ig :)

A comment I see a lot is that Jaskier’s outfits have gotten worse over the seasons, but not when you think about their relation to his character growth. Here’s a look at Jaskier’s outfits across the seasons of The Witcher.
Season one: his outfits change frequently and each is as boldly coloured and extravagant as the next. They’re detailed but also have an air of royalty to their design, with puffed sleeves, high collar, high waistline of the pants, and a slim-fit around the waist.
This is because he’s just starting out as a bard; he is still used to being a viscount, used having money and living in luxury.
Then in season two, we get the Sandpiper outfit, one outfit that is durable and layered so that it can be adjusted to suit different climates. It’s more practical but less detailed which makes it easier for him to blend in with normal people (which benefits his cause). At this point, Jaskier is more established as a bard and now pays for himself or scrounges money and uses it to help people in need, so there’s less fancy clothing or materialistic spending. His vest has a pattern to it that calls back to season one but it’s dull, faded and stained.
But what’s more, his hair is unkempt and his clothes are blood soaked and stained, a visual representation of his mental downfall since the end of season one when he and Geralt had a falling out.
And now, in the previews of season three, his hair is groomed/neat, his clothes are still the Sandpiper outfit but with a floral shirt and a detailed, open-breasted vest that calls back to the patterns and intricacies of his outfits in season one. He’s found a balance between simplicity and the elegance he was used to. He’s more comfortable in himself and has found a balance between who he was (a viscount who knew money and luxury) and who he wanted to be (the Sandpiper; someone who helps others).
Another detail is his collars.
In season one, he wears high collars that cover his chest and neck, suggesting he’s shut off and defensive or uncomfortable in his surroundings.
In season two, his collars stick up but his chest and neck are bare, suggesting he still has his defences up but he’s been laid bare emotionally and psychologically.
Finally, on season three, his collars lay flat, his shirt is unbuttoned and his vest has a wide lapel, suggesting he’s comfortable, open, and isn’t scared of being vulnerable.
That’s just my thoughts on the matter. And while I would love to see Jaskier in outfits like the ones in season one, I also like the other outfits and how they reflect him.

I know we all think of Burn Butcher Burn as THEE breakup song, but I’d like to turn everyone’s attention back to Her Sweet Kiss for a minute. It tends to get overlooked compared to the other in-universe songs, mostly because the final version was never technically diagetic. But it plays over the 1x06 credits, and we’re clearly supposed to understand it as having been written immediately post-mountain.
If you remember, Jaskier was working on this portion of the lyrics at the very beginning of the episode:
“I’m weak, my love, and I am wanting / If this is the path I must trudge / I’ll welcome my sentence / Give to you my penance / (Gorgeous) garotter, jury and judge.”
He wrote this before Geralt ever sent him away, and it becomes all the more heartbreaking in hindsight when you realize what it means in that context. This is Jaskier accepting that Geralt will never love him back. He’s too weak to do the harder thing and just leave, but he accepts that his feelings will never be returned because to him, being with Geralt in any capacity is worth the punishment of unrequited love. Supporting him in whatever way Geralt will accept is his penance.
And then Geralt blames Jaskier for all his problems and banishes him from his life. The lyrics are worked into a song all about Yennefer, a warning to Geralt about the dangers of being in a relationship with her. The original lines remain exactly the same (except that, tellingly, “Gorgeous” is removed), but the context shifts. The path Jaskier must trudge is now a lonely one, the punishment worse than ever. He feels he deserves to do penance for the crime of his unreturned feelings and sees himself as a burden and an annoyance for having them because Geralt just told him that’s what he is. He’s lost the one thing that made all that pain worth it, but now he’s too weak to do the harder thing and fight to stay with Geralt. Jaskier won’t protest Geralt’s cruel and unfair treatment of him because he knows (thinks) he’s already lost him to Yennefer forever. Burn Butcher Burn is full of rage, but in the immediate aftermath there’s no anger, only heartbreak.
Which only makes Jaskier’s relationship with Yennefer in Season 2 all the more interesting. This is the woman he thinks he lost his love to, and only months ago he wrote a whole song begging Geralt to stay the fuck away from her. There’s a deep bitterness when they first meet that is only slightly masked by Jaskier’s usual humour, but as soon as he realizes the danger she’s in, his first instinct is to help her and protect her. The camaraderie they find in their mutual fallings out with Geralt, and the softness initiated by Yennefer being a hugger, is really special to watch.
I don’t really know where I’m going with this other than that Jaskier is a gem and he doesn’t deserve to be shit on by the narrative the way he has been.

If I had a nickel for every time I've shipped a popular mlm ship during a whole season and wanted them to get together the next season after a sad season finale
only to end up shipping character A with character B's ex instead (and hating character B)... I'd have two nickels. which isn't a lot, but it is weird that it happened twice.

I've just gotta say...
The fact that Joey is the only actor we see near the entrance of the room just waving some people around and throwing kisses - more focused on greeting a "larger audience" than individually greeting his co-stars - is the most Jaskier thing ever!
Joey definitely picked Jaskier up on the side of the road on his way there, 'cause his inner bard is showing!
Seriously though, that video's focus is also like 95% on Joey/Jaskier...
So, here's Joey/Jaskier kissing and waving...
Here's Joey/Jaskier winking...
Here's Joey/Jaskier reading...
Here's Joey/Jaskier's singing and being a goof...
Hey! BTW we've got Laurence Fishburne this season, too! Yay! Big Hollywood name!
But enough of that! Here's yet more bard footage for you!
Do you see how precious that puppy of a bard is?
I mean look at him! Being all cute and bashful at being complimented/teased by his co-stars... Aww...
Oh! Right! We should probably do a Yenralt closing shot!
