this is one of my many worldbuilding monsters so i knew there was no way i was going to have it written in time for @jatpsongficweek, but when this song came out one of my first thoughts was *sigh* you’re going to do something with this, aren’t you? so then i started conceptualizing a willex angel au, because usually when things happen i try to shove them onto willex. i was going to write a summary idea for it, but everything kinda went to shit by the end of september and now i have a horrible, horrible dry spell so all i have to offer is a moodboard as a form of concept art but i think it looks pretty sick.

happy for you that you’ve found the magic that is jatp! so the fandom used to be livelier but it’s slowed down a little lately, what with yknow. things (don’t get me wrong tho, there are still lots of people posting gifs and fics on a regular basis, and you could probably find quite a few just by browsing the tag!)

but ya i would say most of the corners in this fandom are sfw? and even when people post nsfw they always tag as far as i can see! (sorry this is not helpful whatsoever lmao)

It’s a nice feeling. Fuzzy. Floaty and heavy at the same time. It makes him want to hum, just for the feeling the sound makes in his mouth, or to pluck his guitar strings not to play a song, but just to hear the notes ring out, to watch the string vibrate til it stops.

Are you a crafter? Are you emotionally attached to a children’s Netflix show about ghosts featuring some of the best music since Abba? Then do we have an event for you!

To celebrate the amazing crafters in the fandom, we want to see all of your beautiful JATP creations. Show us what you have – we want to see them all! Let your fingers fly with inspiration and let’s see what you have inside you!

WHEN WILL IT BE?

Craft Week will be held from the 15th to the 21st of November 2021 - plenty of time for you to start planning and get excited!

HOW WILL IT WORK?

Each day, we’ll be highlighting a different craft. You can do anything for it, so long as it is JATP themed and fits the prompt. Maybe you want to make Flynn’s sewing playlist, or show us a ghost themed photoshoot inspired by Ray and the boys. Maybe you want to write about a meet cute at a yarn store – whatever it is, we want to see it!

Tuesday – our favourite supportive dad with a heart of gold wants to see what you have for photography! Ray can’t wait to see all the photography themed ideas you have – a fic about Rose and Ray meeting through photography? Yes please! Want to show us how he and Carlos bond over it? We want to see all your ideas. Anything to do with JATP and photography for this day is wonderful!

Wednesday – our resident fashionista Flynn wants to see what you can do with a needle and some thread. Get those sewing machines going and let the ideas fly – did Reggie make those Sunset Curve shirts himself? Have you made your own JATP themed embroidery piece? Do you have Flynn's sewing playlist on repeat? If you have anything to do with sewing for this day, throw it our way!

Thursday – we all saw Julie’s killer future album cover, so now we want to see – what are your drawing creations? Have you drawn a character that you’re particularly proud of? Do you have ideas of when Julie began drawing? Does Luke tease her by asking if she needs a model? Let’s see where this one takes you all – we’re excited!

Friday – After spending so much time in museums screaming with Alex, Willie wants to see all your painting! This one really is wide open – have you painted the Sunset Curve logo on your jeans? Do you think Willie takes Julie to burst paint balloons with darts? Does everyone get together to make communal artwork before running away from the cops? Or have you painted something from the show that you’re bursting to show to the world? Whatever you have, we want to see it!

Saturday – Carlos the Ghost Toaster is always on the lookout for more digital art and today, he wants to see what you have up your sleeve. Did Tia teach him to edit on the iPad? Did Ray teach him photo manipulations? Do he and Reggie bond over digital art and the satisfaction of a finished piece? Do you have digital art you’re just bursting to show him? Please share!

Sunday – Reggie and Alex understand that the world of craft is large and varied, and that we’ve only begun to scratch the surface of what there is out there, so here’s a day when they want to see anything else you’ve got up your sleeve. Show them your hobbies, tell them your head canons, write your fics including the wonderful and varied craft forms that help make this fandom such a beautiful, varied space – we want to see everything you have.

This event is about celebrating Julie and The Phantoms and enjoying crafting, so there should be no hate. You will not always agree with others and what they may interpret the crafts as, but you should be respectful at all times. Remember the Golden Rule: don’t like, don’t read (or look at).

ALL TYPES OF CONTRIBUTIONS ARE ALLOWED

If you make it, it’s acceptable as a contribution for Craft Week! It can be fanfic, gifsets, fanart, photo manipulations, moodboards, playlists, physical craft projects, digital craft projects, etc. Whatever the prompt inspires in you will be accepted.

White-washing of any kind is completely unacceptable. JATP has several POC in its cast and you should respect them by coloring/illustrating/writing their skin tones appropriately. Any examples of white-washing will not be accepted.

This week is designed to be a fun week of celebration for craft. We all have our different favorite characters, and least favorites, but there is no room here for anyone to bring down a character/ship. If you don’t like them, make your contributions based on another character.

Do you love to make our favorite himbos and their wrecking ball of a leader suffer? Does it bring you joy to create fictional pain? When people yell at you about how much they cried over something you’ve made, do you feel at peace? (lookin at you @angelofarts) If you answered yes to any of these questions, help us bring even more pain (and maybe even a little joy) to this fandom during The JATP Angstravaganza!

HOW DO I PARTICIPATE?:

Angst week will run from the 7th through the 13th of November 2021! You can participate with art of any kind - fanfics, drawings, playlists, moodboards, etc. If it’s angsty and JATP related, we wanna see it!

RULES:

No whitewashing/orange-washing

This show has several POC characters and they should be represented as such. Whitewashing or orange-washing of any characters, whether written or drawn or in gif form, will not be tolerated. If you need an example of whitewashing/orange-washing and how to avoid it jatpsource has a very helpful post here!

No extreme angst / Keep content SFW - (i.e. no graphic depictions of violence or abuse, no conversion therapy for any queer characters)

Yes, Reggie’s parents can be verbally/emotionally/even physically abusive, but it must happen off screen. Yes, Alex’s parents can be homophobic, but we are not going to traumatize him with conversion style therapy of any kind. There are limits to angst and we are not looking to push the boundaries into traumatizing territory. If you want to write hardcore you can, but we will not associate or promote it with this event.

Please keep the ratings to M and below

At the end of the day, this is a show targeted towards minors so we want to be mindful of that with our event. We understand that some of the subject matter that might be covered in fics like these could fall under the “Mature” category, but at the same time we would like this event to feel inclusive to the parts of this fandom that aren’t comfortable with super explicit content. All M-rated fics should still be SFW, and all fics will be vetted by our mods to make sure they don’t contain any of this content. Any fics that include NSFW content, or content that does not match what we are willing to support, will not be backed by our event.

This is very important, especially when it comes to angst writing! We can put these characters through the ringer while also respecting that some things may be triggering for readers. This is a great post regarding how to tag on AO3. If we want to follow the golden rule of fanfic (don’t like, don’t read) we have to warn potential readers accordingly.

Sunday, November 7th - Day One - Canon Day

Let’s start off the week by screwing around with canon! You can either expand on a sad/angsty moment from canon, create something canon compliant, or create something that could have been really angsty but didn’t actually happen in the show - canon divergent!

Monday, November 8th - Day Two - Relationship Day

Whether it be romantic or platonic or familial, today’s theme is about angst within relationships! Breakups, pining, tension, arguments, unrequited love… Feel free to explore this dynamic in canon or an AU of your choice.

Tuesday, November 9th - Day Three - AU Day

Incorporate angst into an AU of your choosing! This day is basically a free for all. Put our favorite cast of characters into different settings not yet explored in canon and then BRING THE PAIN

Wednesday, November 10th - Day Four - Death Day

Molina Murderers, Sam ‘n Ella enthusiasts, here’s your time to shine! Create something that includes at least one canon, or fanon, character death. This could be Rose related or hot-dog centric, or it could be a creation of your own making! (Looking @ all of you people killing Carlos) Please remember to tag your deaths with the appropriate trigger warnings!

Thursday, November 11th - Day Five - Hurt/Comfort Day

Today’s the day to put somebody Through It™, and have someone else there for support! This can be either physical or emotional hurt/comfort. Think sickfics, heartbreak, death day anniversaries, guilt spirals, misplaced blame or post-fight comfort (both verbal and physical fights are okay as long as any physical scenes aren’t graphic or are kept appropriate for a T rating).

Friday, November 12th - Day Six - Character Centric Day

Create something based around one character, a study if you will. Do you want to explore what it must have been like for Alex living with his parents after coming out? Maybe you’d rather delve into Luke’s fights with Emily or Julie dealing with the aftermath of Rose’s death? Would you like to experience a day/night in Reggie’s house or wonder why Willie is so afraid of Caleb? Today is the day for you! Can be pre, during, or post canon.

Saturday, November 13th - Day Seven - Flangst (Fluff/Angst) Day

As a wind-down for all the angst, and so that @flynn-taylor doesn’t completely disown all of us, create something with both fluffy and angsty elements! Think of flangst as a reverse sour patch kid - first it’s sweet, and then it’s sour. This type of angst is meant to be interwoven with moments of soft fluff. As our resident anti-angst mod has so lovingly referred to it, this is a bit of fluff deception.

We can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with for this event! We hope you all have fun with it— please make sure to follow the rules and water your plants when the spray bottles come up!! Feel free to reach out with any questions you might have. Our ask box will always be open!

Hey! Sometime last week I created a new discord server called JATP Fic Storming. It’s a place for fanfic authors and readers in the JATP fandom to gather and discuss fics: posted, in progress, planned, or hypothetical.

Each author gets the opportunity to get their own channel where they’re able to interact. These channels can be used to talk to readers about fics, to discuss planning of fics, to chat casually, or whatever they please. There are also private channels for those who’d like to collaborate but have no where else to do so. And then there are channels for our three main roles: authors, betas, and readers. And of course there are also other channels: a general chat, fic recs, a sprinting channel, etc.

Joining JATPFS can be a lot at first: after all, there are over 50 authors with channels (which is great! there are so many authors for you to talk to!) but it also means it might be overwhelming. We recommend checking out our frequently asked questions channel once you’ve arrived to figure out how to mute channels and manage notifications. This will not prevent you from visiting those channels, just from seeing and/or getting every notification.

A few basic rules: - JATPFS is SFW beyond swearing. We do not support JATP smut/NSFW content in the server at all. - There’s no harassment. This can include bugging authors for updates, for content, for anything that they have the option to provide you with and that you are not entitled to. - Mainly: we want to keep the server chill and friendly. Please help us do that. Be respectful, be kind. This server is meant to help others discuss fics they love, bring ideas to life, and come together. Please keep it positive.

ABOUT ME

i've been putting this off for ages but it's time, so if you're new here (or even if you've been following me for a while) here's some things to know:

my name is justine

i'm in my 30s, so i'm apparently what's known as a fandom grandma

for whatever it's worth, i'm a virgo, hufflepuff, and infj

this blog is multifandom but i post a lot about julie and the phantoms and, uhh... i guess stranger things now, too

i write fic (current/past fandoms include: jatp, stranger things, 9-1-1, 1d, shadowhunters, young royals)

i accept prompts but only on occasion (see under the cut for further explanation)

i do not participate in fandom drama, the block button is my bff

i've been told i'm intimidating but honestly i'm just a nerd so if you're nice to me i'll be nice to you too

now let's move onto some specifics:

regarding my fics:

yes, i write/have written explicit fic.

yes, i write/have written rpf.

no, you will not change my mind about what i want to write.

regarding my posting schedule:

i used to post/update chaptered fic twice a week on saturdays and sundays, but as of 1/1/22, i no longer follow this schedule.

now i'm just an agent of chaos and i have no idea what i'm doing anymore!

if you do not want to follow me because of what i write, that's your decision. but i will not entertain nor accept hate in my inbox just because you don't like what i write. first rule of fandom: don't like, don't read.

regarding prompts:

my bio will always state whether or not i'm currently taking prompts.

if it says prompts are closed, do not send prompts to my inbox.

NEVER send prompts via DM!

unless otherwise stated, all prompts i post are sfw.

if the prompts are explicit, they will be tagged with "lemon fic" (thanks tumblr and your shitty banned tags, explanation here) and all explicit material will be under a cut.

currently, i am accepting prompts for both julie and the phantoms and stranger things.

within jatp, for regular prompts i accept all pairings except julie x luke and any pairing involving nick. when i'm accepting smut prompts, please do not send any pairings involving julie or flynn.

within stranger things, currently i will only accept prompts for the older teenaged characters (i.e., eddie, steve, chrissy, robin, nancy, etc) - this applies to both sfw and nsfw prompts.

i reserve the right to delete any prompt i receive that i decide i do not want to write.

Another JATP Headcanon!

I was mindlessly scrolling through my dash, watching JATP gifs and as always my mind just went “OKAY BUT WHAT IF-” and I typed it all out to a friend of mine. We bounced some ideas back and forth and here’s the more organized outline! Please add to it if you have any fun ideas!

!!This takes place before the last episode!!

Julie and Luke are physically unable to touch, that much is obvious.

However, one day she catches Luke in the act of going through her dream box again. She loses it and tries to grab the piece of paper to save the words written on it.

Luke however, doesn’t give in right away and holds onto it. Julie stares at their hands. She can feel the resistance of Luke holding onto it. She may not be able to feel him, but... Simultaneously she can?

Luke notices it too and from that moment onwards, he always holds onto things a couple seconds too long to be socially acceptable. Julie rolls with it and never calls him out. Sharing knowing glances as they both pull on whatever random item they’re holding. Feeling his presence physically is comforting and makes him all the more real.

Julie wants to feel his presence more often. Maybe she’ll grab his beanie and wear it, laughing as he takes it off her head.

She starts to ask him to hand her things too: “Luke, can you pass me my mic?” or; “Luke, can you hand me my bag for a sec?”, or; “Luke, I can’t reach the peanut butter, my dad put it on the highest shelf again.” Luke happily gives her everything she asks for. He teases her for being lazy, of course, but they both love this new way of interacting.

The boys start to catch on. As does Flynn. They can see how they just... Hold everything together. They think it’s cute. Flynn definitely gives them a pair of friendship bracelets (with a little chain to attach them together, something that Luke and Julie do when they write songs together. It makes the process so much better).

It’s really cute to Julie how, whenever they hold things, Luke has to focus really hard to tug on it to make it not slip through his fingers. His tongue occasionally sticking out as she challenges him by tugging extra hard. He gets better at it every day, though.

Occasionally, they do this as a band too. Tug Of War definitely becomes on of their favorite games to play. (Alex and Reggie make it their life goal to beat them one day).

And last but not least, Luke and Julie cuddling (SFW!!) on Julie’s bed on their easy Sunday mornings. Luke playfully tugging the sheets away from her, laughing as she tries to pull them back. In the end, he obviously wraps the blankets around the both of them.

Julie may not feel Luke. But he’s there. Always.

it's just the sweet weather

luke & bobby | G | 2.1k | pre-canon

Bobby leans across him, and for a bizarre, inexplicable, wonderful moment, Luke thinks Bobby’s going to pick him up and lift him out of the car. His arms go to wind around Bobby’s neck, and he’s ready to tuck his face into Bobby’s shoulder, only to hear the click of the seatbelt being undone. Bobby starts to pull back.

“Luke?” Bobby says again, still gentle, sounding almost amused, when Luke’s linked arms prevent him from moving any further away. “You good?”

Before Luke can even think it through, he finds himself mumbling, “Carry me?”

After a particularly exhausting gig, Luke's too tired to get himself to bed. Bobby helps him out.
