TPP HADESTOWN AU PART 5 PROLOGUE EDITION

seeing as how this has me in a stranglehold, I will continue writing this in bits and pieces as it comes to me until I can get it organized into coherent chapters and on ao3. but for now, enjoy a nice prologue (the thoughts within are inspired by an absolutely feral conversation I had with @smidgen-of-hotboy regarding rita's position as hermes, the narrator)

the story you are about to read is not a new one. it's not a kind one either.

I should know. I've told it thousands of times before.

why keep telling it? what's the point?

well, for me, it's to see the past again. to see if I can pinpoint where it all began to go wrong. when the sappy love story turned into a tragedy. when I began to lose my best friend to his need to fix everything.

and maybe it's to see if the ending will change this time. I know the chances are that it won't. but I've got to try. he never gave up on the world, not even when it all began to turn against him. i'm doing this for him.

I've spent my life surrounded by people who knew loss and knew it deeply. I was lucky that it never got me, that i was never affected by empty space and grief in my life where a person should have been.

he certainly knew loss, my best friend. I was as gentle with him as I could be, but he always said the feeling of missing his brother was like a hole in his stomach that would take big bites out of him to get his attention. that feeling only doubled when he lost his husband to hadestown too.

he tried to get him back. of course he did. but something went wrong. he was never quite the same after that. he'd be up singing at odd hours, staring at the potted dahlias we kept out in front of the bar, watching the stars in the sky like his life depended on it.

and then one morning i woke up, and he was just....

gone.

i guess he'd finally had enough of that empty feeling and went down to find his husband again. and he left me behind. now I know that feeling. that horrible sense of absence. I've felt hollow for months. telling this story again is the only thing that keeps my bleeding heart in place.

but what matters is that i'm here. i tell his story, and sing his song, and keep the memory of his life alive, all in hopes that the ending might be a little different this time.

so once again, this story is not new. it is not kind. it is ugly, painful, and heartbreaking. but most of all, it is a memorial.

to the best friend i lost. to his husband. to the world.

i raise my glass.

you all deserved far better than us gods had to give.

OC not-so-nice asks for Siv, Jessi, and Jay: betrayal, bound, break, future, skin, torture, and wound :)

betrayal: Has your OC ever been betrayed by someone they thought they could trust? Has your OC ever betrayed someone who trusted them?

Oh, sweetie. It'd be easier to list the people Siv hasn't either betrayed or been betrayed by than the people she has. They're basically a betrayal magnet at this point.

Jessi both has betrayed and was betrayed by Eobard, and she has backstabbed several of her business partners.

Jay has been betrayed by Siv MULTIPLE times (he really needs boundaries), and by several other people he believed were allies.

bound: Has your OC ever been imprisoned or captured? What happened? How did they get out? Did the experience leave any scars?

Siv was held captive by Eobard when she was 18 for ten days, and by Director Hawke's goons when they were 22, for 45 days. Both experiences made her paranoid, cynical, and added yet another layer of trauma to their already fucked-up brain.

Jessi was kidnapped and held hostage for about two weeks when she was 12, in exchange for $10,000 of her father's money. He did not pay the ransom, and she had to escape on her own wits, an experience which has shaped the dog-eats-dog philosophy which she lives by.

Jay was tied up in his own basement for a week and replaced by a shapeshifter. Because he was unconscious the whole time, he managed to escape with his mental health intact, however, if he ever tried to process what happened, he'd probably have an existential crisis. Soon after Cassandra rescued him, the shapeshifter captured her and replaced her.

break: What would cause your OC to break down completely? What do they look like when that happens? Has anyone ever seen them at their lowest?

Siv's lowest is an extremely dark place. The only thing that could cause them to break completely is for their reality to be completely upturned, which has only happened twice- once, when she found out that their father was Gina's murderer, and again, when they discovered the truth about her origins. Jay's seen Siv at their lowest, and Ember and Hailey have seen glimpses of her in that state.

Jessi's lowest is extremely destructive. So far, no one's seen her at that point, but essentially, she drops all guises of caring for others, cuts off all her connections, and goes rogue, usually on a killing spree or something.

Jay's lowest came soon after the injury that left him in a wheelchair. He went from a very active young man with a bright future as a secret agent to having to spend his days trapped in the house while Cassandra looked for a new apartment that wasn't on the second floor. After that, Jay became extremely depressed, since his prognosis said that it was unlikely he would ever walk unaided again.

future: What's the worst possible future for your OC? Are they taking steps to avoid that outcome? Are they even aware it's a possibility?

Siv's worst possible future involves them losing themself to their own rage and hatred. Her worst fear is becoming like Eobard, and a lot of their self-loathing comes from the fact that the two of them are undeniably similar.

Jessi's worst possible future involves her fading into obscurity. She can't imagine a future where no one knows her name, and in order to prevent this, she's become a criminal overlord/pop star.

Jay literally can't even imagine losing Cassandra. He has nightmares about it, where he's back at the prom where it all went down, but instead of finding Gina's body, he finds his fiancee's. Usually, when mid-March comes around (the anniversary of Gina's death), Jay becomes super protective of Cassandra, to the point of obsession.

skin: How comfortable is your OC in their skin? Do they grapple with anything that lives inside them—a beast, a curse, a failure, a monster? How do they face the smallest, weakest, most horrible version of themself? Are they able to acknowledge it at all?

Siv is terrified of losing herself completely, since they have to live with an entity under their skin at all times. Thankfully, she managed to get away from Eobard before he could bind her to it completely, but they're still very much connected to it, and occasionally lose control to it and it ends up killing a bunch of people.

I... honestly don't know if Jessi even knows how horrible she is. I don't really think she sees herself as evil, or even bad. She just kinda sees herself as "the ultimate girlboss", and doesn't really think about the people she hurts as people, only as assets.

Jay fears the version of him that he becomes when he's desperate. The darkest part of him comes out in the moments where he's out of options and the only choice is the death of his loved ones or to hurt other people.

torture: Has your OC ever been tortured? Would your OC ever torture someone else?

Siv was tortured for 45 days straight by a meta-trafficking ring, as they tried to extract her eldritch abilities to sell them on the black market. Siv probably wouldn't torture another person unless they really had to, like if someone she loved was in imminent danger.

Jessi's never been physically tortured, however, when she was held hostage when she was 12, she was kept in unintentional sensory deprivation, locked in an abandoned bank vault with no light or sound or anything. She doesn't personally torture other people, it's too messy. She has her goons do it instead.

Jay's never been tortured, but he would torture information out of someone in order to save someone he cared about. It's something he feels very guilty about, however, if it was the only way, he would 100% do it.

wound: How does your OC handle being wounded? Are their wounds mostly physical? Mental? Emotional? What's the worst wound your OC has ever experienced?

Siv's worst injuries came when she faced off against Eobard for the first time. Injuries included: several broken ribs, broken arm, broken wrist, shattered kneecap, sprained ankle, two teeth knocked out, punctured and collapsed lung, severe concussion, traumatic brain injury, crushed nose, and a whole lot more. They almost died, and never really fully recovered from that, despite their regenerative healing.

Jessi's worst wounds are emotional, from the parental neglect that she faced as a child. She never really had any support from a parental figure, and because of this, she grew up to become the absolute queen of the attention whores.

Jay's worst injuries came when his team was purposely sent completely unprepared to fight Zoom by Director Hawke, leaving everyone dead except him and Cassandra (well also Hailey but she's already dead so it doesn't count). He was struck by a bolt of speedster lightning, which threw him out a third story window. He basically shattered every bone below the waist and also received extensive nerve damage from both the electric shock and the injuries he received.

♇ i believe this post and theory needs an introduction, you have to read this very carefully because my time here has proven to me that a lot of people here lack media literacy, so i am here to say that this post was inspired by Alyssa Sharpe and i dove into the matter with my own research and i'm here to say that 99.5% of my own specific research for this topic was correct.

♇ if you have watched one of alyssa sharpe's videos, especially the future spouse videos on her tiktok, she said moon, juno or groom can convey and inform someone about their future spouse, but they're not strong enough, thus, the only thing that can talk about the wife and the husband is jupiter.

♇ there's many arguments that jupiter is only about the husband and the wife is venus, or that jupiter is not the sole indicator for the husband or future spouse, and i respect their perspectives, but this one specifically is my own, which is influenced by alyssa sharpe.

♇ i have gone through mostly 30+ couples, specifically celebrity couples and i have been able to identify that jupiter had almost correlated with all of their future spouse's big 6; and if their jupiter sign did not correlate within the signs in their spouse's big six, then it had meant that it likely connected with their ascendant, sun, moon or jupiter, specifically with conjunct aspects.

♇ plus, they dont need to be currently married, they can be divorced.

♇ example, person A has jupiter in leo which means person B would have leo in one of their big six.

♇ if person B does not have leo in one of their big six it would mean they would likely have the sun in their first house or one of their dominant planets.

♇ however person B could also have the sun aspecting the core planets or jupiter because it is the spouse planet :).

D9 is so accurate, like I said before, I do paid readings in real life (Tumblr is also real life, but you know what I mean right?) and I was reading this woman's chart and she had a lot placements in her d9 that indicated that her husband would be a huge gossiper and she got married a week ago and today I met her husband and this man knows EVERYTHING about EVERYONE, he's also really sweet, it's so nice to see.

I wanna make Vedic astrology content, but I have noticed that it does not get as much attention as Western and Its kinda sad. if you want to see the level of compatibility between 2 people,then Synastry and composite is the most accurate. but if you wanna know how your spouse is gonna be like then d9 for the win. I had a lot of faith in juno and groom persona charts but....I just don't find it accurate. I'm sorry. I know A LOT of people and it has never managed to correctly predict their spouse's nature or appearance, for 2-3 people it was kind of accurate but I think it's just a coincidence. And I tried using Jupiter persona chart as well, but that too didn't work.

If you are into astrology and want to know more about your future spouse, I would highly recommend you to take a look at your d9. According to ME, it has never been wrong, like not even once.

I was actually just looking at Beyonce's d9 and everything fits like a puzzle. she has venus in 1st, born to be a star, gaining success through marriage, sun in 2nd, getting a lot of money through spouse, mercury in 8th, joint accounts with the spouse, marriage of convenience (let's not act like beyonce and jay-z actually love each other), saturn in 10th, VERY VERY AMBITIOUS, Jupiter in 11th, a lot of social influence through marriage....

Someone whos into men and have Mars Square/Opposite Juno(3) might attract the complete opposite of what they are attracted to. For example someone with Scorpio Mars Square Leo Juno wants a confident, open and funny partner, but they only attract the mysterious , sneaky, obsessive kind of men. Or vice versa.

The annoying part of 10th house placements is attracting attention from people you dont even know exist.

If you have Eros(433) Conjunct Moon synastry just know you will both remember it forever and you know what I mean by it.

Use your transits to get stuff done. I swear I never clean & exercise like I clean and exercise when Sun or Venus are transiting my 6th house.

Women with Lilith Square Moon struggle with the Madonna/Whore complex. They also feel a deeprooted need to be a part of society, have a family and be the kind of woman whos accepted. But at the same time they feel a strong need to rebel against those same things.

Moon conjunct/square/opposite Pluto needs to practice letting go. They be the ones to check a certain persons instagram everyday almost like a routine. Especially when it comes to people they dislike. An obsession with powerstruggles. Especially when the enemy is a woman.

I know of someone with placements there and she posted a video of herself eating at a restaurant she works at during her break. Someone called the restaurant and tried to have her fired saying shes high in the video etc(ofc she wasnt).

Mars & Moon in the 2nd house can be a real envy aspect in synastry. From what Ive seen the planet person is envious of the house person.

Something Ive noticed, wont be true for everyone tho: The difference between Neptunian Venuses (Venus aspecting Neptune/Pisces Venus) and Saturnian Venuses (Saturn aspecting Venus/Capricorn Venus) is that saturnian Venus expects the same perfection from themselves as they expect from a partner while Neptunian Venuses be expecting to marry Beyonce while looking like Shrek.

Neptunian Venuses dream too much and have unrealistic and high standards. Saturnian Venuses have high standards but they are realistic. They dont want a fairytail princess bc they know it doesnt exist, they want someone who looks good on paper and they usually look good on paper themselves.

Saturnian Venuses can also be satisfied with someone who hasnt made it yet as long as they know the person is ambitious and will make it in the end, while neptune energy wants to be saved by someone who already made it.

Mars conjunct Midheaven be having a lot of public beefs. Or might be known for being a winner or ruthless. Beyonce for example got Mars in the 10th house and everyone who messed with her and Jay Z just magically disappeared from the spotlight.
