(1/2) For a Zaun Family prompt, can I please have Viktor and Jayce babysitting Viktor's newest baby sibling (the one Silco was pregnant with as new Zaun representative) due to an emergency? Maybe all the siblings had prior commitments and the parents had a sudden political engagement they couldn't refuse? The only one available was Viktor and ofc Silco's favorite Piltie. How would they handle practice for *their* future babies as busy scientists? Notwithstanding Silco's disdain for Jayce lmao.
(2/2) It would be interesting for both the reader and Jayce to see Viktor's maternal side in an intimate setting. Also the image of Viktor snuggling a baby is adorable beyond words. Thank you!!!
So I made this pre-Jayvik getting together (but only just – you'll see)

“I can finish this up and we can stop for the night,” Jayce says after Silco has left the lab in the same hurry he had entered it only minutes before.
“Why would we need to do that?” Viktor asks as he finishes tying his baby brother against his chest and reaches for his cane again to stand up.
“Uh- your brother,” Jayce says gesturing generally at the baby in Viktor’s arms who Silco had dropped off because the rest of the family were unavailable and the Zaun Representative had been asked to a meeting that would no doubt involve yelling, cooing at his pup that his brother would take care of him before leaving. “You need to look after him right?”
“I can keep working with him,” Viktor says. “He will likely fall asleep anyway.”
“If you’re sure.” Jayce figures Viktor would know his brother and how to care for him better than Jayce would.
“I am,” Viktor says. “You were going to show me something before my Dam came?”
“Oh, right!” Jayce had almost forgotten about it with the interruption. “I think I figured out a solution to our battery-limitation problem.”
Viktor comes over to look at Jayce’s work over his shoulder, keeping his brother steady against his chest with his hand not holding his cane. The pup’s eyes darting around the lab as if to take it all in while safely snuggled against his brother.
Eventually the boy’s eyes find Jayce’s face and Jayce smiles at him, earning him a toothless grin back.
“How does it work?” Viktor asks, pulling Jayce’s attention back onto him.
“Huh? Oh, it should dispense the energy from the Hex Crystal over its full surface so it doesn’t overload any of the parts.” The problem having caused all the explosions that unfortunately had been a common occurrence in their lab for the last few weeks.
“And have you tested it?” Viktor asks, eyes darting over it, looking for any faults obvious to him.
“Not yet,” Jayce says, noticing Viktor’s brother trying to twist his head and body to look as well. “And what do you think?”
Viktor glances down, his expression softening at his brother’s curiosity.
He rests his cane against the desk before undoing the ties of the wrap to turn his brother around to have a look. Jayce moving the new prototype to give the boy a better look, fully aware that there isn’t anything a baby can actually offer in terms of assessment or advice.
The prototype seems to only interest him for a moment. Viktor’s brother glancing at Jayce and then his brother as if looking for some cue as to what to do.
When he reaches up to Viktor with a distressed whine Jayce can’t help but stress. He knows Silco will find it his fault if he returns to his baby crying.
“It is alright pup,” Viktor says, pulling his brother close so the boy’s head is by his neck.
Viktor switches to the Zaunite language Jayce sometimes hears him and Silco talk in. And while Jayce may not understand all the words, the tone is clearly soothing and Viktor’s brother settles for it, clinging tightly to the omega.
“Did I do something wrong?” Jayce would like to know so he can avoid repeating it in the future.
“No, you were fine Jayce. He is just getting irrational from tiredness,” Viktor says, gently running his hand through his brother’s hair as the boy scrunches up his face. “I might try and get him to fall asleep so we continue?”
“Of course.” Jayce had suggested Viktor could stop until Silco came back.
Viktor limps over to the couch they keep in the lab, sitting down with his baby brother cuddled close as Jayce brings the cane over for him before going back to the workbenches to pack away what needs to be for the day. They should probably stop for the night anyway, go get a real dinner for the first time this week and think about something other than batteries.
Jayce finds he struggles to keep his focus on task. His eyes and attention keep going back to Viktor and his brother.
Viktor has his brother lying against his chest as he rubs along the baby’s back. The boy’s head pressed into the crook of his neck where the omega’s scent-gland is as Viktor presses soft kisses into his brother’s hair.
Jayce abandons his task when the soft lullaby fills the air of the lab.
Viktor softly singing words Jayce does not understand but finds himself captivated by more than any performer he has heard.
He hopes that one day he will get to hear Viktor sing it to a child of their own.
He shouldn’t think things like that, he knows. Viktor is not his mate just his partner. But there is a part of Jayce that wants that to change despite the risk of potentially ruining their relationship by bringing it up. And seeing Viktor with his new brother only makes that part of Jayce grow. Makes him want to build a life and maybe, hopefully, eventually a family with Viktor.
Viktor peers down at his brother when he is finished the song. Gently brushing the boy’s dark hair aside to check if he is actually asleep. Going by how he relaxes Jayce figures he is.
“Can you get me the blanket?” Viktor asks quietly with a nod at the blanket they keep in the lab in case either of them end up staying too late and decide to sleep there. “I do not want to wake him up by moving.”
Jayce doesn’t say anything from fear of waking the baby. Just quietly getting the blanket from the other end of the couch and helping Viktor cover himself and his brother in it.
He presses a kiss against Viktor’s forehead as an afterthought.
He realizes what he’s done when Viktor stares up at him with wide eyes.
“I’m sorry-“ Jayce starts because he knows he’s overstepped and doesn’t want to lose Viktor because of it.
Viktor brings a finger to his lips to stop him from continuing.
“We can discuss that later,” Viktor says quietly and Jayce can only mutely nod.
He knows if he woke Viktor’s brother it would only make it worse. Even if he doesn’t know how he’s going to stay calm until that later time arrives. Especially seeing it will likely be after Silco comes back to pick up his youngest pup from his eldest.

I’m just such a big, big fan of how physically affectionate Jayce is with Viktor. Regardless of whether you view them as platonic or romantic, it’s equally heartfelt and meaningful, given the circumstances.
Viktor has been a loner and an outlier all his life. It’s unclear if he’s ever had someone show him affection, be it from family or friends. The fact that Jayce openly touches him—that his first impulse to reassure him is to gets in his space, physically remind him he’s here, they’re in this together, and that he does it often—that’s a huge deal for someone who’s had to endure loneliness the way Viktor has. That display of comfort, camaraderie, and solidarity is something that everyone deserves, but he’s probably scarcely gotten from others.
We already know the implications if this is romantic, but the platonic implications are just as important. Viktor deserves to have people he can feel close to. Physical affection happens to be one of the prominent ways Jayce shows his support, and I just think that’s neat.
