I don't know if you know blue eye Samurai, but I hate how people talk about the protagonist.
I'm a non binary Trans man, and I actually identify a lot with Mizu (the protagonist), but I go here on Tumblr and I see a lot of posts that say: "I know everyone can see Mizu however they like, but I want everyone to know that the right interpretation is that she is a woman pretending to be a man... but everyone can think whatever they want, not forgetting that she is a woman of course."
And it's a bit annoying because when I see explanations of why is "wrong" to see Mizu as a Trans man, I see people going "Why can't there be representation of gender non conforming women!?" And "she wouldn't pretend to be a man if it wasn't for the society she lives in!"
The last one makes me especially angry, because of how many Trans men get erased from history with that same argument.
I don't know, I think it makes me mad because that fandom feels like a micro cosmos of the anti Trans masculinity a lot of Trans men have to face.
And it's not like I think it's wrong to see Mizu as a woman, but when everyone goes "of course she is a woman, why would she want to be a man for anything other than necessity?" I don't know how to feel.
I'm gonna steal my own words from that post about jeanne d'arc:
And the best part is, we can say all of this and also see her as part of women's history! Because women's history, too, does not have to be exclusively about woman-born or woman-identified women. It can be about a larger cultural experience. And Jeanne d'Arc suffered because of transphobia which is always fundamentally misogynistic. I would argue it even makes sense to say her death involved transmisogyny in a very literal sense. The thing about transfeminism is that it can free us from the need to view personal identification with the role of "woman" as vital to feminism. Being a woman, in whatever sense, is certainly not unrelated to feminism, but one can be a feminist and have any kind of personal or communal relationship with womanhood. Anyone can be inspired by the story of Jeanne d'Arc and her bold defiance of both misogyny and transphobia, no matter how she may have personally understood her gender.
People have this idea where if a character or historical figure (or even currently living person) is anything but a woman, then any kind of Feminist Story falls apart. Especially when it comes to misogyny! People act like someone being a trans man means all their experiences with misogyny are like. gone? Or the story is now, essentially, about a cis man being mistaken for a woman, and thus women are Not Allowed to feel any connection at all.
All of this on top of the fun hypocrisy that is "we can't say this person/character is a trans man because they wouldn't have that concept, but we can say they are a cis woman because those are both the only options and ciswomanhood is a natural and universal concept we can apply regardless of any other context :)"
& with Mizu its like. you literally can see her as a GNC woman. people calling him a trans guy or transmasc or genderqueer or anything else are not taking away your experience of her as a GNC woman. Transmasculinity is not just Negative Womanhood, the idea that transmasculinity is something which saps away representation/power/dignity/identity/value from (cis) women is like ATM 101.
But the whole way people treat trans men and misogyny really annoys me, I guess because the assumption is that for women, having to dress as a man to get respect inspires anger at one's position in society, but trans men are incapable of having any complex feelings about that. Like trans men must fully enjoy not being able to have sex with others, or go to a doctor, and having to live in fear of being outed and facing the brunt of transphobia and misogyny, and trans men also couldn't possibly be angry about misogyny that they experienced, and also nonbinary people don't exist and no transmasculine person could possibly be anything but fully comfortable being seen as a cis man all the time. Sure, some trans men are perfectly happy passing as cis men, but like. there is more than one trans man. & ignoring all other transmasc experiences besides The One is a form of erasure, it just passes as something else because technically you are acknowledging A transmasc existence.

why do you think cytherea targeted the fourth the way she did? we know why she killed the fifth, and we know why she killed people generally, but the writing in blood and the chasing jeanne after killing isaac feels weirdly personal
It does seem personal, yeah. I'm sure it was intended to. I'm also sure it wasn't. I doubt Cytherea even noticed they were people enough to have beef with them.
Let's look at her goals:
Tumblr media
She's using the heirs as bait to get John's attention, but doesn't want to make the real stakes apparent. So she kills them off, one by one, slasher movie style. She's playing with them, creating a narrative so that when the terrified survivors call for help, John is curious enough about whatever theory they've come up with to come take a looksee.
That's probably why she planted the idea of vengeful angry ghosts so early. She knows it's something that's bound to get John's attention without alarming him enough for him to be on the defensive. His old house is haunted by violently angry revenants? That doesn't sound right, but you never know with ghosts. Seems both interesting and a bit concerning, he'd better take a look.
The Fourth specifically were targeted because their investigation into Abigail and Magnus' murder posed a threat to her plan. They had found Dulcinea and Protesilaus' ashes in the incinerator and raised the alarm, which put them way too close to asking the right kinds of questions. Like: "Whose ashes are these?" and "Is this connected to the other murders?" They had to die, and they had to die in a way that drew attention away from their investigation and lent credence to Cytherea's angry ghost narrative, or the story they had to tell when they called John might be a little too close to the truth to get the intended effect.
So. Giant bone monster in the basement laboratory, a sleeping child skewered in a locked room, and ominous writing in the victim's blood. A tableau designed to be so horrifyingly personal it doesn't occur to anyone it might have been pragmatic.

Full Metal Plate
Winter: So, are you all packed, and ready to go… l-little sister…?
Jeanne: D-Did you just try to call me, ‘little sister?’
Winter: Is that alright? I mean, we’ve only know each other for a little while, and I’m still not sure that you’re… Huw?!
Jeanne rushed over to, Winter, and wrapped her arms around her for a tender loving embrace.
Jeanne: It’s okay, you can call me your little sister all you want, big sister~!
Winter eyes teared up before wrapping her arms around her in kind. They stayed that way for a while before breaking away.
Winter: Thank you, Jeanne. I… I needed that.
Jeanne: Any time sis. And, as for packing, I’m all ready to go. Well, bar my armour, well, my planned armour that is. I’m still a growing lady, I mean, look at these~!
Jeanne provocatively gestures to her sizeable chest.
Winter: Looks like… Double D-Cup’s?
Jeanne: They used to be A’s.
Winter: And, you’re fifteen?
Jeanne: Yep! Meaning these gals are still growing~!
Winter looks down at, Jeanne’s chest before looking down at her, C-Cup chest.
Winter: Well… good for you~!
Jeanne: You absolutely seething with jealousy, aren’t you?
Winter: Oh absolutely. Seriously, how are all, Arc woman so well endowed?!
Jeanne: Don’t forget about the men too!
Winter: …
Winter: I did not need to know that.
Jeanne: Yet~!
Winter: So you don’t have any armour at all, excluding your shield?
Jeanne: Oh I do have some armour! Give me - moment, and I’ll show you!
Winter: Alright, take your time.
~~~
Jeanne: And, done! What do you think?
Tumblr media
Winter: Not bad. It really shows off your figure. Seems light, and easy to move in. You are a fast fighter, this must suit you quite well. And, it does look like it will accommodate for any future growth spurts.
Jeanne: Yep! I can really move around in this. But, after I reach the peak of my growth spirt, I’m going to switch to wearing some more full plate armour. This is just a stop gap until then.
Winter: Oh? Why do you desire to do that? Light armour seems to best suit your fighting style. Wouldn’t full plate armour slow you down?
Jeanne: Depends on how the armour is designed. If it’s thick, and made from heavy metals, its going to be damn heavy. But, if the armour is dense, and made with thin armour plates, it can be quite light, and easy to run around in. Hell, I can even do a backflip while wearing heavy plate armour.
Winter: But, you don’t have heavy armour?
Jeanne: I… I could do a backflip in full plate armour!
Winter: Alright.
Jeanne: Whatever, just know this: when I get my full plate armour, you going to be amazed with what I can do with it. And, more importantly; I’ll look damn good in it too~!
Winter: Oh really? My grandfather may have worn full plate armour, but he didn’t look that good in it.
Jeanne: That just means he didn’t have any style, just like the rest of you snobbish, Atlasians!
Winter: Like anyone can look good in full plate armour.
Jeanne: Wanna bet? Hey, Jaune!
Jaune: Yeah?
Jeanne: Put your armour on, I wanna win a bet with, Winter!
Jaune: Am I playing any other part in this bet?
Jeanne: Nope!
Jaune: …
Jaune: Ha… fine… I’ll be out there in a moment.
Jeanne: Thank you~! Ha! Just you wait, Winter, I’m gonna make you eat your words!
Winter: Oh I highly doubt that.
~~~
Jeanne: You done, Jaune?
Jaune: Yeah, I coming down.
Jeanne: Get ready to lose, and question your sexual preferences, Winter!
Winter: I doubt…? Wait, what was that bit about, ‘sexual preferences?’
Jaune: Okay… Care to tell me why I’m doing this?
Tumblr media
Jeanne: Oh yeah… Momma likey~! So, Winter, what do you think?
Winter: …
Winter: Okay… You win, Jeanne. You can look sexy in full plate armour.
Jeanne: Hell yeah, I wi…?! Wait, did you say ‘sexy?’
Winter: No! No I didn’t! I-I’m leaving! I-I-I still need to pack!
Jeanne: You think your little brother is sexy you brocon~!
Winter: I AM NOT A BROCON?!!
Jeanne: Don’t be upset, Winter; we can still share him!
Winter: What the hell are you talking about?!
Jaune watched as the pair left, their voices slowly drifting off into the distance with only one thought upon his mind.
Jaune: …
Jaune: I got to get out of here. I have got to get the hell out of here!

AITA for not swapping chores back.
I live with friends. We are on a schedule for all house chores. I am having a problem with one of my friends/roommates : Ethan.
Ethan used to clean stuff right after me. It drived me nuts. I don't particularly like cleaning but it's part of adulting so I do it quick and well. I have lived both alone and with other people and never had issues with the way I clean things. Ethan himself tell me it's nothing personal. It's just "the way he is", he just needs things to be done his way. He does it Whenever anyone clean something. It's not a me thing.
Other roommates were not overly bothered by Ethan cleaning just after them. "He is free to pointlessly clean if he wants, I have better things to do than be bothered about it"
Ethan and me decided to exchange tasks. He got my cleaning tasks and I took his cooking turns.
About cooking. Everyone one of us has food preference or restriction. We try to accommodate everyone.
I eat everything BUT one of the thing I asked was to eat a different homecooked meal everyday. (We are a Lot of roommates so it's really feasible for us to only cook once a week or less) I am OK with leftovers and alternate leftover foods for some days. I just want to not eat the Same Meal Everyday. I had a difficult depressive episode while I couldn't cook and just ate the exact same thing for 6 months, and now, eating bland rice twice makes me sad.
Ethan is Difficult with food. He hates a lot of common ingredients and favors the most bland flavors. He is the pickiest eater. He asked us to always cook him bland pasta (or Rice) for every meal. He will eat the same things as us all, then takes two servings of pasta. Whatever you might cook will never be as good for him than pasta and butter. It's OK, I got to live with it.
Ethan is a terrible cook. He hard boil and overcook everything. No seasoning except salt.
I am a very good cook. I spend hours cooking. It's the way I express love. Homemade lasagna, ramen, boeuf bourgignon, … Because I don't have to cook everyday, I love overdoing it on the days I am cooking. Even making complicated deserts. I also often prepare two or three versions of the same dish to accommodate the tastes of everyone (no cheese for Ethan, less spice for Jeanne and Ethan, no Pepper for Alix and Ethan, no gluten for…)
I love all of my roommates cooking. I am grateful when I don't have to cook and always compliment my friends and thanks them for cooking even if they cook more everyday food than I do. I always say : The one doing the thing is the one who is doing it the best.
I don't hate Ethan cooking. It's just terribly bland. You can't really hate boring. It's just meh.
But we swapped.
I thought everyone was happy.
But yesterday, we talked about a new roommate joining our home. He is Ethan's best friend. Everyone was happy and asking question to Ethan about his bff and how cohabiting with him will be.
Me : Does he cook ? Ethan : Well, we never died of hunger for all the years we lived together Me : That's not what I asked, though. Ethan : Yes he cooks, but I don't know if he will be up to your impossible standards. Me : I appear yo have impossible standards only from your place. You are the one with a 5 y.o palate !
Now Ethan is acting all upset saying I insulted him. That he always felt so much pressure cooking for me and that I am a upthight princess and I didn't have to insult him. That me specifically (I am autistic), should know how it is (he is not diagnosed with anything but there is hints here and there).
He says that I have to swap back our tasks to demonstrate I like his cooking. I asked if he will stop cleaning after me then. He said he can't promise, so I said no. I don't want to. I hate him cleaning after me more than I dislike eating bland food once in a while but he is acting all offended and insecure. Our other roommates also doesn't want to force the change as they prefer my cooking. Ethan says obviously I am the one that cook the best of all of us but it's not the point. He wants me to prove I don't have impossible standards by eating his cooking Again.
AITA for insulting my friend and telling him he has a child's palate. While it's not very nice, I think it's rather true. And AITA for not swapping our tasks ? If I am the A, I will agree to swap. I will present my excuses anyway because I don't like seeing my friend buthurt.
What are these acronyms?

🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
The only coherent, non-rabidly misogynist and factually right thing OP say in this whole thing is at the very beginning when she recognized transgenderism as a completely made up modern human concept XDDDDD
Okay, let’s go through this word by word:
Tumblr media
you can piss of both because it's just blatantly wrong and stupid. I could also say "the earth is flat" and piss of the catholic church and trans activists. what have I proven? nothing.
Tumblr media
correct so far lmao
Tumblr media
well yeah, everyone shares common experiences with trans and genderqueer people, because nobody identifies and behaves 100% according to their assigned gender at birth
Tumblr media
woah, if I didn’t know that this was a gendie blog, I would think that this is a terf lmao. yes, some women are trans (aka trans men), and some men are trans as well (aka trans women)
Tumblr media
I mean yeah, if you define “transphobia” as “opposition to gender nonconformity”, she sure as hell lived through transphobia. it’s just a bullshit definition, because being gender non conforming does not imply being trans. the thing with these definitions (i.e. defining trans as “not identifying with your gender assigned at birth” or defining transphobia as "an opposition to gender non-conformity") is that in this type of analysis, there is simply no space for gender non-conformity. every type of discrimination a gnc person experiences is transphobia, and every gnc person is trans or genderqueer.
Tumblr media
yeah, maybe she just wore this type of clothing because she liked it. maybe she thought it looked stylish. maybe it suited her best. maybe she had sensory issues with skirts and dresses. maybe she really got a message from God. maybe she wanted to protect herself from sexual violence. it literally doesn’t matter, because she should be able to wear whatever she likes for whatever reason
Tumblr media
good for her that she stood by what she wanted to do and started wearing the clothing she liked (which happened to be associated with the male sex in that time). and yeah, the society of that time was sexist, so they probably wanted to punish her for crossing gender roles
Tumblr media
i mean, many gnc women wear clothes that are typically associated with the male sex for very different reasons, not just as a means to an end. women have always seen things that defy the patriarchy as vital to their soul, like loving other women, abortion, wearing certain clothes, doing certain trades etc. all of these things could have gotten them killed at one time or the other. you just pick “wearing masculine clothing”, because for you gender is just about fashion statements.
also, nobody presents as cisfeminine, because femininity is an unreachable standard imposed by patriarchy, and “cis” would imply a total identification with that absurd standard. everyone is gnc in one sense or the other, some less and some much more, so there is really no inherent transness about Jeanne D’Arc.
Tumblr media
no, I don’t care about what the Catholic Church says, and we also don’t know whether Jeanne D’Arc actually heard some divine commandments or whether she just had mania or schizophrenia or something. It doesn’t matter at last, because “genderqueer” is not a useful analysis of anything. the human condition is one of being “genderqueer”, because at least for women, it is considered genderqueer to not shave - our natural bodies are “genderqueer”. you’re “queering” something that didn’t exist in the first place - a happily gender-conforming woman. Jean D’Arc is "genderqueer" because she did what she wanted, like every woman who does what she wants is "genderqueer". every free woman is “genderqueer”, every happy woman is "genderqueer", every courageous woman is "genderqueer".
so in conclusion, this is not per se wrong, because gendies will just define any word how they like it and don’t do any analysis in the end, because the definition of things like “genderqueer” or “trans” is constructed in such a way that it always confirms the point the author wants to make. but because of its tautological nature, we don’t learn anything.
but the huge problem with this type of analysis is that the language of “her gender expression”, “her masculine gender expression as vital to her soul”, and the individualised analysis of an experience that fundamentally, all women share to varying degrees: the inability to remain both a whole human and to submit to patriarchal demands. You can’t be gender-conforming and be a full autonomous member of society. And in that sense, being “trans” or “trans-adjacent” is an emotion that every woman shares, some more and some less. The thing is that gender roles were never meant to produce a woman that fulfils them completely, they were only ever meant to occupy women’s minds enough so they don’t start a revolution.
But why do we have to call that very natural impulse “genderqueer”, implying that feeling like this distances you from womanhood in any way? Feeling like patriarchy is restrictive is the most female thing anyone could experience, and is a confirmation of Jean D’Arc’s womanhood.

Hey guuuuuys
As a heads up, I'm going to be converting this blog to be mostly my main/pokemon blog. I've been thinking about it for a while tbh and when it comes down to it, I've been feeling a huge disconnect from selfshipping as a whole for a while. It was nice and a great way for me to cope before I was able to get mental health care, but it's definitely more of a hobby now more than anything. Don't get me wrong, I still love my funky little gals and guys and it's fun to think about them in different scenarios! I'm still going to always lose my shit over Piers! But honestly? All of my "inserts" have basically come into their own, if that makes sense. They are not me. They may share a name with me sometimes but that's definitely an OC, that and I'm too lazy to rename the various Mandas and Jeannes across franchises cause that shit is a lot of work. And besides, literally everyone who has made a character has put some of themself into it and I know that I'm not wrong--
Now, what does this mean for me/the blog?
I'm still gonna post how I feel like posting. Things are going to be a lot less selfship focused. If anything, I'm leaning more on the side of oc x canon and oc x oc cause that's where I'm finding more enjoyment. No more fancy carrd with f/os and all that happy stuff, it's just going to be an about. No long ass dni honestly who the hell even takes the time to read them anymore (I mean, I do, but not the point I'm trying to make here). Granted my dni was never long in the first place but kgjwjdjejejjfayhs still. I'm still deciding if I'm going to go through the blogs I follow and trim things up. If I unfollow you, by no means is it anything against you and there are no hard feelings on my end. And if you'd like to unfollow me due to my focus shift, I encourage that.
Honestly over all, I haven't had a lot of energy to be publicly online in a while, anyway. It's what happens when you work full time, go to school part time, and have some mental disorders and a chronic illness that's been fucking you over since you were 2. The burnout is real lmao. I'd rather enjoy myself when I'm on tumblr than be all bleh, ya know?
I mean this when I say I did enjoy my time when I was selfship focused, but I think that part of my life is... Not quite behind me, but not a major part of my future anymore. In some aspects, it made my mental health worse, if I'm being honest, and I should have never let it get to that point. Granted that was before I was able to get diagnosed and start my mental health journey, but still. Should have stopped as soon as I felt myself not doing okay. I'm not going to dumb down or sugar coat myself anymore (granted I haven't been for a while but eh is what it is). I'm probably going to be leaving most servers I've been a part of and clean up my discord as well.
I'll still post self ship stuff here occasionally cause I mean, c'mon it's my blog I can do whatever the hell I want with it forever.
But I do think it's time to finally start finishing up this chapter. I'll forever and always be Amanda Pierswife though, you can pry this url from my cold, dead hands <3

Bayonetta has always been deeper character than people give her credit for.
So I have adored Cereza and The Lost Demon a lot more than I thought I would. But I was watching a review video on the game and one of the points they brought up was how the game makes Bayonetta "A more three dimensional character". While I agree with this, it got me thinking about how a lot of the more subtle and deeper aspects of Bayonetta's character are overlooked, even by people who like her.
There's always been more to her than "Dommy Mummy step on me please"tm who kills supernatural forces with style. Don't get me wrong that's still a huge part of her but she does have other aspects of her.
She is very protective and nurturing like we see in the first game with how she protects and cares for her younger self. In Bayonetta 2 when Loki is struggling with his memories she mentors him and gives advice. As much as she taunts him she is still trying to in her own round about way give him good advice.
She is a fiercely loyal friend who literally went to Hell and back for Jeanne. Regardless of whatever wrong direction platinum themselves take their relationship there can be no doubt Bayonetta loves and cares for her best friend. So much so that one of the only times we've seen her drop her confidence and actually panic is when she thought she was too late to save Jeanne.
Her relationship with her parents is actually very tragic. She was separated from her mother at a young age, and even came upon her mother's dead body during the witch hunts. Then she killed her own father thinking he was an evil bastard who used her and her mother. Only to then learn, no actually he did love her and her mother so much he was willing to destroy himself and his reputation to protect them.
Even her relationships with her mundane friends have depth to them. She goes from teasing Luka with her pet name to showing him she recognizes him as a person she respects by addressing him by name. Even the way she drags Enzo everywhere illustrates she has a weird affection for the little gremlin man.
Bayonetta 3's Bayonetta feels so much hollower by comparison because they made the stupid decision to isolate her for the vast majority of it. Bayonetta depth comes out in her relationships to both friend and foe alike.
Cereza and The Lost Demon does a wonderful job of putting her relationships to other characters at the forefront. But that three dimensional character has always been there. People just needed to look a little harder to see it.

Delivering Justice
Tumblr media
(Should Scott deliver justice for the Hale family before or after this scene?)
I can't get out of my head the Teen Wolf rewrite idea that appeared in the #scott mccall tag (because of course it did). Let me reproduce it.
I want someone to rewrite Teen Wolf, but making it about Scott bringing Justice to the Hales and restoring some sort of supernatural balance, and saving the town from a curse or destruction or whatever brought on by that crime, by bringing justice and forcing the Argents to face the consequences of their actions, from both a human and a cosmic pov (i still think Allison should have been the one to kill Kate). Even if he doesn’t like the guy because of his issues with male authority, he sees that what happened was an atrocity and vows to make things right.
The fundamental racism of this post is undeniable. The fundamental misogyny of this post comes in a very close second. I'm sure that some people are scratching their heads about how I came to this conclusion, so let me explain. It's about whose lives are considered important.
Notice, first off, that in this proposed rewrite, they don't talk about what happens to Scott at all. What will change for him in this story? Is he still a sixteen-year-old lacrosse player at the start with asthma and a broken home? Is he still attacked by a power-mad Peter in the woods and transformed against his will? Does Peter still mentally and physically violate him? Does Derek still stalk him, beat him, manipulate him and sell him out to his uncle? Will Derek and Peter be required to set aside their own personal trauma to train Scott to be able to "bring justice" to the Argents or will Scott just have to figure it out by himself with the help of his just-as-much-in-over-his-head best friend once again?
As an aside, Scott does not have issues with male authority, because the Hales were not authorities over him. See here.
Notice that the consequences of actions should only fall upon the Argent family. Maybe after Scott is done restoring the balance for the Hale Fire, he can restore the balance for Paige Kraiskeva? Or for Julia Baccari? Or Braeden? Or Marie-Jeanne? Or for the entire village in Gévaudan? Or for the victims of Aiden and Ethan's alpha? I have a feeling that the OP may not know who half those people are, so let me put it another way. The show made it clear that the Hale Fire wasn't unique. Derek said as much. The endless war between Werewolf and Hunter has continued for centuries. Why does this particular instance need balancing? Because good looking white men cried about it? Because the primary culprit was a woman? In any event, why is it a good thing that Allison should have to pay for Kate's crimes? What is attractive about having Allison murder her aunt, someone she sees as her sister, for a crime that happened when she was eleven years old? Or does Allison have to earn the right to be a good guy by killing another woman?
Notice that the OP completely missed that Teen Wolf was almost entirely about Scott bringing justice and restoring supernatural balance! He did it by saying "No!." He did it by stopping the self-destructive spiral of endless vengeance. He did it by refusing to accept the ancient calculus that a crime can only be redressed by committing more crimes. He did it by valuing each life, ranging from a supernatural serial killing werewolf who personally tormented him to people he didn't even know, for their own sake. He delivered it by not privileging one life over another. That was Teen Wolf's central tenet! The Hale Fire would never be balanced by an Argent fire; it would only be balanced by Hale Auto.
This is the poison that runs through the core of this fandom. It isn't enough that Scott spent the first 36 episodes of a show which was supposed to be about him cleaning up the mess of the Hale/Argent feud. It isn't enough that he looked past Peter's viciousness, Derek's brutality, and Cora's hostility to care for them when he absolutely did not have to. Of course not; it will never be enough, not for a fandom that says, again and again and again for over 12 effing years: "I love Teen Wolf, but I would love it more if it was entirely about white people!"
BUT IT'S NOT RACISM.

saw that post abt the saberfaces and like while I can understand the point in like, a billion dollar company reusing a design/design element might not appear favorable and it isn't even that wrong to say they are squeezing their cash cow flagship character i fundamentally disagree because thats like the equivalent of complaining about jojo having every protagonist with a name that can be shortened to jojo or final fantasy always having reused monsters like bahamut
and this isnt even a "oh saber is good i swear!" type thing but like. fate's been around for almost two decades now and has had tons of media made with plenty of recurring motifs and thematics that are acknowledged by the writers who are incredibly vocal fans of the series so if you're going into a long established franchise and complaining about long standing injokes and long standing patterns it comes across less as poining out the flaws in a billion dollar company and more like you just dont like that you didnt get it at first? takeuchi samefaceness isnt a problem unique to takeuchi and there are thousands of artists who have the same issue and even then a bunch of the saberfaces werent even drawn by takeuchi at first (nero was wada and jeanne & mordred was konoe) so them playing off the saberface jokes with designs isnt even that agregious because even if they have similar colors you'd have to be reading it in bad faith to say that the fgo artoria and fgo jeannes takeuchi designs are the exact same. an artist can have a style to how they draw their characters and just because there is overlap does not automatically equate that to having lazy designs.
more than anything saberfacing is part of nasuverse iconography, when a character is a saberface it isnt just about selling the design it is in fact an intentional design choice that tells you about the themeing of the character. im not going to say that nasuverse lore is sacred because it definitely isnt and they are in fact just doing what they think is cool but when you have nasu literally adding a chapter for limbo because he thought hasendows design was so beautiful it shouldn't be limited to a single appearance and then had that expanded into one of the more popular story chapters that tells you that these are creators who do pay attention to the designs that go into their characters. the same applies to chica umenos oberon, to wada and redrops designs and so many more, they absolutely care about the art that goes into their series.
I'm not gonna tell you that you must absolutely do your homework to enjoy any piece of fate media we are all free to do literally whatever we want forever and -clenches fist- you can also enjoy it in any type of way even in a surface level way. but when you acknowledge that a series is long standing with deeper themes acknowledged by its long standing playerbase and that the writers have so much passion for their own work (for better or worse, again nasuverse is absolutely not immune to criticism), saying that it comes across as disingenuous to have a recurring character design injoke because its heavily popular now despite not being popular once upon a time in itself comes across as disingenuous. nasuverse stuff being born of niche doujin circles and still being in touch with those roots isnt some kind of disqualification of the existence of saberfaces or the reasons behind them. when we ask you to read fate stay night its literally because we want you to enjoy it More so that you can, in fact, understand why saberface is a thing to begin with. being a popular franchise nowadays doesnt remove any of that charm unless you're specifically ignoring them. we literally have bbs profile in fgo say 'if you want to understand her deal and the deal of other similar characters read fate extra ccc' (bb herself being a sakuraface) so like theyre fully forward about the most accessible entrypoint into the franchise having a ton of history behind it

Do you guys think that countries in the nationverse speak whatever language of the media is in, or do you think that, since they technically aren't human, the tower of babbel wouldn't have applied, meaning that they all just speak the first language ever and then speak whatever language their country speaks ie. French or Chinese, and that humans just can't comprehend the language from the tower of babbel? because it's mentioned that France refuses to learn a single word of English out of arrogance, but then how does he speak to Jeanne? Are they just speaking french???

Bayonetta 3 Spoilers
Another aspect of this tragedy of a story that bothers me is the fact that Bayonetta herself, as a character, seems... unaware of the storyline she is in?
Let me explain what I mean: BayoLuka is endgame (let's ignore the MANY problems inherent to that fact for the sake of the length of this post), so let us take a look at how Bayonetta speaks with and about Luka in this game. The way I perceived it (since subjectivity and all) is that she viewed him as something of a troublesome child, annoying and inconvenient, not fit to be taken seriously. What does she do when Luka flies face first into danger? She dismisses it and leaves the perfect stranger Viola to tail him and make sure he doesn't fall face first into lava. How does she react when the "big reveal" of Luka being the beast happens? Again, she is really fucking dismissing, all things considered. "Oh, he'll come back, he always does", that sort of thing (my time-line might be a bit off but I refuse to subject myself to this story again so please bear with me). The most engaged she gets is when she jokingly(?) threatens Viola to make sure SHE keeps him safe. Again, at this point in the story Viola is still a stranger, and Bayo still viewes her as a bit of a, for lack of a better term, noob.
Now let's turn to how Bayo interacts with Jeanne. The goofy-ass smile she has when Jeanne drives in to take her away from danger, the way she gets visibly enraged when Jeanne is captured by Kraken, and also, she follows a fleeing Kraken in order to save Jeanne. It's in the way she looks at her and calls her name here... (again maybe I'm biased, but there is undeniable affection). It's the small things, like when she glances back to make sure Jeanne is following when they enter the Gates of Hell, or when they look to each other when Viola is dumping exposition on our asses.
But maybe they are just very close, gal-pals one might say. We don't see enough to be able to say for sure what the nature of their relationship is. Fair, but we see LESS from Luka. There is no in-universe reason why BayoLuka get together, that's my issue. If we had spent time with the two of them like we do BayoJeanne, I don't think people would have been so bothered.
Fucking hell, when she gets to the Tokyo version of BayoJeanne she reaches for Jeanne first! The alternate universe version of herself is apparently uninteresting compared to Jeanne, and when she figures out that she has been killed, she gets angry (arguably angrier than Tokyo Bayo, who is so vengeful she takes over the gameplay in order to beat the shit out of whatever cloud-themed entity of the day we have going on). The interactions with Egyptian Jeanne don't even need me to point out the subtext. The point us that every time a Jeanne is present, player Bayo goes IN.
I'm well aware that this is also, definitely, copium for yours truly. I'm just trying to verbalize why the story causes such strong emotional reactions. This is the INTEGRAL problem with the writing in Bayonetta 3—the cutscenes do not feel like a continuance of the gameplay. Oh, did you beat the shit of this cloud and saved the Bayonetta of that universe in gameplay? Well tough fucking luck because she gets necked as soon as the cutscene starts. It's like there were two writing teams at Platinum with two very different stories in mind and they keep struggling for control throughout the length of the game. The result is a catastrophe, pretty much. A catastrophe that leaves me feeling frustrated and unfulfilled.
But the good news is that skipping the cutscenes pretty much creates a new story for the game. There's still flubs, definitely, but in my opinion this is the superior way of enjoying the game.
I wonder if any of this is coherent, lmao. At least it makes me feel better to rant.

Rebirth AU question: does Jaune still have his white streaks in the new life? I think it be pretty cool if he did and since there is a real life condition called Poliosis it wouldn't be considered that wierd.
Family Bonding
Jeanne: Uhh, Jaune, is your hair turning white?
Jaune: Seems so…
Jeanne: Doesn’t that only happen when you’re old?
Jaune: Well, it was a side effect after I returned from the, Ever After. Maybe I just picked it up?
Jeanne: Well, while it’s a bit weird that, that’s happening to you, since everything that has happened to you. But, you looked absolutely great with those white streaks in your hair in our past life.
Jaune: I know, Rin absolutely loved it.
Jeanne: Rin absolutely loved you. Hell she had a daughter with you. Even if she knew you couldn’t be there for you, she loved you enough to conceive a child with you, and what a wonderful child she was.
Jaune: …
Jeanne: Jaune?
Jaune: …
Jeanne: Jaune, are you okay?
Jaune: This world is our second chance at life… my second chance of living a happier life. A life without the pain, and all the rage I endured in that life. And, if there’s anything, anything in this life I want more than anything else… I want the life I could have had with, Rin. I want to live my life with the daughter I never had… I want that happy life…
Jeanne: …
Jeanne: I thought you were fine with not being there for them?
Jaune: Not really… I was okay that I couldn’t be there to help her, but… I wish I was… I just wish I could have been there for the both of them. See her grow up, and become the fine woman, and huntress you said she became. I can’t help but feel like the deadbeat dad who abandoned his pregnant wife, and child. We were okay with what we did, but…
Jeanne: Don’t worry, Jaune, you’ll find her, and get to live that life you never had.
Jaune: I hope so… I know I plan to do that with, Pyrrha, and May if she’s here to. I want to live those lives I could only dream of.
Jeanne: Tell me… Is there… Anyone else you want to live those lives with…?
Jaune: …
Jaune: Maybe, Nora?
Jeanne: Jaune! You know I was talking about me!
Jaune: Hehehe! I know, Jeanne. It’s just…?!
: Ohhhh~!
JJ: …
: Mmmm-AH~!
Jaune: …
Jeanne: That’s not mom, is it?
Jaune: No… I think it’s…
: AHHHH~! That’s it darling, right there~!
JJ: Willow Schnee.
Jeanne: Well, that didn’t take as long as I hoped.
Jaune: Couldn’t wait until we were…
: Ohhh~! Right there baby~! Right there~!
Jeanne: Oh there’s, Mom!
Jaune: They’re having a threesome, good for them. We’re leaving now!
Jeanne: I’ve already sent a message to the others, they’re already heading to the storage house, and grabbing their gear.
Jaune: Okay, lets grab our usual stuff, and get the hell out of here!
Jeanne: We should also grab an extra sleeping bag, and at least a four person tent.
Jaune: What, why?
Jeanne: For, Winter. We aren’t leaving her here with that are we?
Jaune: No, that’s a good point, I didn’t even think about her. Lets go do that, but uhh… where is she?
Jeanne: I don’t know, do you have her number?
Jaune: Nope. You?
Jeanne: Me neither. Shit. We need to find, and quick. Before…
Winter: Before what?
Jaune: Ah! Winter! What fortuitous timing! We need to go, now!
Winter: Why?
Jeanne: The less said the better. Come on we have to go!
Winter: Not until I talk with my mother, then I’ll go on whatever it is you want me to go with you for.
Jeanne: That’s not a good idea.
Winter: Why not?
Jeanne: Well…!!
: OHHH YESSSSS~!
JJW: …
Winter: W-What… Was that…?
Jaune: By the gods! Were on the pouch, and we can still hear them!
Winter: Wait! Are you parents having sex; Was that your mother?!
JJ: That wasn’t our mother.
Winter: W-W-What…?!
: That’s it dear! OOOHHH YEAH~! Just like that~!
JJ: That’s our mom.
Winter: What?! What’s going on?!!
~~~
Winter: …
Winter: So… Considering how you had all this camping equipment just sitting there, you’ve had to do this before haven’t you?
Jaune: I think we were six the first time we did this.
Jeanne: Four; it was after Angela was born.
Jaune: Really? I don’t remember that.
Winter: Wait, this has been happening since you were four years old?!
Jeanne: Yeah pretty much.
Jaune: Yeah, if, Saphire’s pregnancy didn’t end up with, Mom being infertile, we would have at least six more siblings.
Jeanne: Luna’s probably already started a betting pool that we’ll have another one.
Winter: But, if your mother is infertile, that means what was that betting pool, Luna mentioned was all about?
Jeanne: That the betting pool, Luna made is on when it is born, if it’s a boy, or a girl, and if it’s twins.
Jaune: Good gods… please tell me she didn’t do that. Luna seriously didn’t make a betting pool on that!
Winter: WHAT?!! You degenerates are betting on whether, or not my mom gets pregnant?!
Jaune: Not me! I never take part in these bets. But, the rest of them are. And, if you think that’s bad, then I would love to hear your opinion on the betting pool involving me.
Winter: Do I want to…?
Jaune: Actually, I don’t want to hear your opinion on that..
Winter: Okaybthen.
Jeanne: The pool is on which sibling sleeps, and/or takes, Jaune’s virginity~!
Winter: What?!
Jaune: Jeanne?!
Jeanne: I’m currently holding the lead~! While you coming into the top ten, Winter.
Winter: I’m in the top ten…? No wait! I’m on the list?!
Jaune: And, you wondered why I wanted to shank one of my sisters with a rusty spoon.
Winter: Oh good gods… I thought dealing with, Weiss, and Whitely’s antics was a nightmare. But, the rest of my siblings are worse… So, so much worse.
Jaune: Siblings…? You referred to us as, ‘siblings.’
Jeanne: Do you see us as your siblings, Winter?
Winter: …
Winter: I’ve only been around you guys for a week… I’ll acknowledge that we are siblings by blood, but by bond… I… I need more time…
Jeanne: Take your time, we’ll be here when you need us, Oneesan.
Winter: Grk! Good gods why does that hit so hard?!
Jaune: You’re not used to genuine love, and affection.
Winter: You heard me?!
JJ: Yep!
Winter: You two are unnerving in how surprising you can be… You two are exceptionally skilled students, too skilled in fact. You have incredibly strong, and versatile semblances that you know the ins, and outs of by heart. You seem to have extreme knowledge about me, and my family. Even about things I never told you about… None of this makes sense. What are you…?
Jaune: We get that a lot… Were just a pair of hunters-in-training, nothing more.
Winter: Nonetheless, you two know quite a lot about me, especially you, Jeanne. Why is that??
Jeanne: Even if we told you, you wouldn’t believe us. I wouldn’t believe it, and I was a part of it.
Winter: Try me.
Jaune: Should we…? She is family after all.
Jeanne: By blood, but not by bond.
Jaune: She must earn the rights to our secrets then?
Jeanne: Yep, and I have the perfect way she can earn it!
Winter: How?
Jeanne: Specialist have a special program that allows you to take on a protégé, correct?
Winter: It does, why do you…?! Wait, you want me to be your mentor?!
Jeanne: Yep, I shall become your beautiful little protégé~! What do you say?
Winter: You can’t be serious.
Jeanne: Why not? You’ve seen how good I am, I wouldn’t be a burden to you.
Winter: …
Jeanne: Come on, it would be a great learning experience for me! Imagine all the things you could teach me!
Winter: I don’t know…
Jeanne: I’ll give you a hug if you say yes~?
Winter: You seriously think that would work, on me no less?
Jeanne: Yes.
Winter: …
Winter: Haaa… It will take some explaining to my superiors. But, fine… I will take you on as my protégé.
Jeanne: Whoo! Thanks, Winter!
Winter: Yes, yes, you’re very welcome… Please let go of me…
Jeanne: No~!
Winter: Grrrrr…!
Jaune: When did you decide on doing this, Jeanne.
Jeanne: A while after our first duel. Since you’re leaving to, Vale to do some training with our uncle. I thought, why can’t I do the same with my, Oneesan?
Jaune: Fair, but are you really okay with this, Winter. Jeanne can be a bit of a handful, especially when using her semblance.
Winter: Jeanne will be an exceptionally skilled, Huntress. The skill she has shown me will prove that to be true. While she does seem a bit unruly, I think she will go far. And… Why not spend more time with my little sister?
Jeanne: (Gasp!) Oneesan~!
Winter: Grk?! Jeanne?! Let go! You’re chocking me!
Jaune: Well, everything seems fine then. Now come on, we got a fire going, lets have ourselves some smores!
Jeanne: Yes! Smores!
Winter: Uhhh… what’s a smore?
JJ: …
Jeanne: What blasphemy is this…?!
Winter: W-What?
Jaune: No wonder she’s so uptight; she doesn’t even know what a smore is!
Winter: Excuse me?!
