Want to hear my fun little TSC afterlife headcanon? Cool.

So basically, there are two sides of the Great River. Will waits on one for Jem and Tessa. The TLH characters cross over really quickly and enter into the Shadowhunter afterlife.

Because Will has not crossed the river, the TLH characters take it upon themselves to build a gorgeous home for Will, Jem, and Tessa to all live in together. James chooses a basic decor theme and adds fixtures like wallpaper and lighting; Matthew provides aesthetic features like paintings, sculptures, and other artwork. Anna and Ari add unique, one-of-a-kind curiosities in random corners; Christopher and Grace, who finally are together, build all of the clocks and gizmos inside the house. Thomas, a handyman, builds annexes and reading corners and windows with natural lighting. Alastair and Cordelia create a gorgeous music room for Jem complete with perfect acoustics.

Despite them going and sitting on the other side of the river to chat with Will regularly, they never share this with him. When Jem shows up and eventually sits next to Will as they wait for Tessa and throw things at the steady stream of ducks that heaven has supplied them, they don't tell him, either.

Tessa gets there, and the three of them cross over holding hands. They're immediately greeted by a massive but cozy house that their children, nieces, and nephews have spent over a century lovingly crafting for them.

i just read this page and i know it’s just supposed to be a throwaway line, one that doesn’t really matter. but i find it sort of sad in a way how jem has just given up on hope that he’ll find a cure. like it’s gotten to a point where he can joke about himself dying. and this isn’t any suicidal joke either, those are still bad and (in most cases) NOT A HEALTHY COPING SKILL and you shouldn’t do them, no. this was a joke about himself dying from an outside force. which basically he has given up on any hope of living into adulthood. so now you know what im going to be thinking about tonight

Headcanon that. . .

Kit isn't used to love. He's not used to being loved, he's not used to being told he's loved, and he's definitely not used to being able to live without the fear that the same people who say they love him won't be the ones who abandon him later down the line. Like most things, Jem catches on very quickly, and starts telling Kit, "You know I love you" instead of the typical "I love you." But still, Kit is skeptical. It only gets worse when they all start realizing just how dangerous his Faerie lineage is; just how dangerous he is. Until one day, it's Jace who murmurs soothingly to him after Kit has a panic attack, "You know we'll always love you," and all Kit can do is shake his head forlornly and whisper back, almost imperceptibly, "You can't tell the future. No one can." Nothing is forever, and Kit is near certain that they'll have to leave him behind soon, because he's a threat and they deserve to be happy, because he would rather die than hurt them.

(They live for the day Tessa touches the top of Kit's head in a motherly gesture and tells him warmly, "You know we love you" and Kit just smiles slightly and says, "I know.")

headcannon that one time when alec was at cirenworth to talk to jem or smth, he gave kit his number "for emergencies"

and kit, being a herondale, texts him regularly. what does he text, you ask? selfies. what kind of selfies? ones where he is breaking the law.

alec gets pictures of him getting a flu shot every year. and he's so frustrated b/c several people would be really pissed at him for arresting kit, and he did worse anyways.

just... kit interacting w/ the tmi squad brings me much joy

(and ofc jessa told kit the demon pox story, and alec is saved in his phone as 'consul lightworm')

as requested, here is your will and jem headcanon <3

i can only imagine that considering jem was destined to die quite early, he had a little bucket list of things he wanted to do before he eventually died

and will being will found this hidden in jem’s room

he took note of what things jem wanted to do and he just started to slowly tick off things

will didn’t want jem to notice will was taking him out to do these things on purpose… more like a happy coincidence

but jem, as we know, is quite observant, and he seemed to notice a pattern in the places will would take him, the foods will would make him try, the books will would give him 

so jem would tick off the things on his list, and add new ones, leaving the list in the same spot for Will to look at. 

eventually it turned into a “let’s see how many will can force jem to do in a year” challenge

sometimes, will would smash out three things in one day, which would leave jem to retire to his bedroom for a week

on jem’s slower days, will would try and do the more quieter wishes, like sitting by the fire together while jem teaches will how to play wei qi 

either way, they both enjoyed how it made them even closer and it also gave them ideas of things to do on their days off

neither of them spoke about the bucket list. it ruined the whole fun of it. after all, they were just two parabatai having fun together, right?

Alastember - day 21 - Jem headcanons

Jem first met Alastair when he was in the Academy. Jem hoped to build some sort of relationship with him since he does consider him family. Alastair feared Jem might make things worse for his family and rejected him.

In a modern AU, something similar happened when Alastair was young.

After CoI Alastair does slowly accept Jem's presence more and starts talking to him more often

Alastair will often go to Jem for advice because he is independent and is great at helping Alastair come to a solution himself

In modern AU, Jem is a psychiatrist and at some point Sona asks him for help with Elias because she wants him to seek help

While Jem attempts to gently bring up the issues with Elias during a family dinner Sona invited him to, Alastair gets mad because Jem implies Elias was a hero

Jem recognizes that Alastair's outburst is a sign of serious mental health issues and not him being a difficult teenager.

Alastair goes to his bedroom very upset, and Jem follows him a little later to allow him to calm down

Alastair is very reluctant to speak with Jem but after a while Jem puts him more at ease. Jem explains he has seen many patients who had a parent with an addiction

Alastair tells Jem a little about how he feels and how he is struggling with his moods and temper and Jem recommends he sees a therapist

Alastair refuses at first but changes his mind later and eventually he's diagnosed with c-PTSD and starts trauma therapy, including EMDR

Sona leaves Elias after Alastair's diagnosis since this confronts her with how bad the situation really was

Alastair eventually moves in with Jem, since he has enough spare living space and lives close enough to the university where Alastair studies.

Alastair becomes the second human Church doesn't dislike

one legend is that xiaolongbao - soup dumplings - were invented in the 1870s when Jem was ten years old by a man named Huang Mingxian, the owner of a restaurant called Ri Hua Xuan in Nanxiang, a district of Shanghai. the second legend pre-dates this, that they were sampled by the Emperor in sometime during his life (1711-1799). either way, the buns were a more recent culinary invention during Jem’s childhood.

he first tried the two years before the tragedy with Yanluo & his subsequent move to London. he didn’t have them again until he was released from his service as a Silent Brother, & one of the first things he did after reconnecting with Tessa was try them again. He was surprised to find how many different types had sprung up in his long, long absence - the tangbao - the steamed version - & the Shengjianbao, which are pan fried, but he has a special weakness for the crab meat filled buns in 南翔馒头店/Nanjing Bun Shop, now located within the Yu Garden area of the city.
