Wednesday 100: A Logical Mind
“Ye’ll spoil yer supper, Jem.”
His grandson looked up sharply from the pie Mrs. Bug had set out to cool, his little brows furrowing together — a look Jamie knew well, but it still struck him to see it on Jem’s face, and he treasured it for the echo of Claire found in their grandchildren.
“One bite won’t, Grandda.”
“Suppose not.”
“Two bites, even,” Jem reasoned. Jamie fought a smile and went to get a knife for the pie before Jem convinced him he could eat two slices.
“Ye’ve a logical mind,” Jamie told him. “Ye get it from yer Grannie.”

I don’t know if anyone else has had the same thought, but:
Brianna, Roger and their family are Brian and Ellen family 2.0.
Roger has been compared to Black Brian often over the past few books, they are both kind, tall and dark-haired.
People always comment on how much Brianna looks like Ellen. Hell, Brian mistakes her for Ellen when he accidentally sees her at 1739 Lallybroch. Plus she is a gifted artist like Ellen as well.
Jem has inherited the MacKenzie red hair and features. Jamie’s brother Willie was also a redhead.
Mandy, much like Jenny, is small and dark-haired, having taken after her father in looks.
It’s unclear what Davy will look like, but it stands to reason that he will be a redhead and inherit the MacKenzie features. Also, Davy was compared to Jamie, as Mandy said that they both look like ‘water’ in her mind. Perhaps Davy will not be a time traveller but will be able to travel through dreams like Jamie?

I was wondering if you could share your thoughts and guesses on the season 7 tittles
Well, the first batch of episode titles were released a few weeks back:
As to what comes to mind for each of them:
The conclusion of the Malva storyline
Disneyland is the Happiest Place on Earth. There's a beautiful scene in A Breath of Snow and Ashes where Brianna and Jem and Jamie are talking about Mickey Mouse. And when the MacKenzies go back through the stones, Jamie asks Jem, if you see a big mouse named Michael, please give him my regards
Death Be Not Proud - that's the title of a sonnet by John Donne. Makes me wonder if this is the episode where we'll see the Big House burn, along with Donner's return (and death)
Tom Christie calls Claire this, in An Echo In The Bone. I doubt he'll still be in the picture by then, but I can see just about any man using this phrase to describe Claire
No earthly clue
Crossing the ocean to Scotland? Saratoga?
Return to the 20th century to see the MacKenzies all happy. This "practical guide" is something we see Roger and Brianna talking about in An Echo In The Bone
This *has* to be Claire returning from Scotland, and receiving word of Jamie's death. Meaning we get the marriage with Lord John. The awkwardness. I wouldn't think the season would end on a down note - so perhaps the final scene is the one I've been dying to see since the series was announced: [Lord John] "I have had carnal knowledge of your wife." [Jamie] "Oh? Why?"

704 - A Most Uncomfortable Woman
Looking good Lallybroch! Can't wait for the 20th century storyline, and the kids are so grown up.
Jamie and the apple. "Delicious : /" I laughed out loud. So cute.
What the heck with that ho being burned? Oh my goodness, so brutal! Are they cutting out Jane and just using this incident to show William's good character? I would be fine with that except for Fanny. Leaving out that sweet girl seems kind of a big deal for future seasons.

Brianna being a boss. Get it girl.
Good job on the snake. Thing looks just like a copperhead and I am assuming its really something nonvenomous. Gave me a shiver.
Roger's crisis of faith hurt since it is such a big part of his character. In this case the MacKenzie's don't know if they changed history. They didn't even change the darn obituary. My husband's theory was that you can't change history since if time travelers are there, then well, they were always there.
Bless little William, having a rough day. And Young Ian was so perfectly posed when he appeared. I mean look at that shot. King.

Tom Tom Tom Tom Tom. So very flawed, but what a confession. Does such maturity between adults and depth of feeling exist in the world?
Jamie and Claire. At last. I'm glad they left out Jamie's unwanted kiss from the books. It would have been unnecessary here, and Jamie's willingness to use his physicality to prove a point wouldn't have translated well, especially to non-book readers. As it was this scene was lovely. Look at the insanely gorgeous lighting. I am also really enjoying how Sam Heughan is portraying Jamie this season. Just a little softer, with good humor.

That wound is disgusting, but they did get me about the arm for a second so kudos for that. William does look like Jamie sometimes.
The Nuckelavee. Wonder if it's the same actor? ; )
One little pet peeve about the kids. If Brianna and Roger don't recall Jamie and Claire to them often, if they don't remind Jem of the Spaniard's cave, then there is no way someone as young as Jem was when he left would retain that memory.
I am so excited for Ticonderoga! I saw an image somewhere of Jamie in buckskin and fringe. I cannot wait to see that. And finally a real battle in the revolution. We've been building up to it for so long!

Wednesday 100: Family Means
"Brianna and Roger left suddenly for Boston, seeking a cure for Amanda's heart," writes Milord, although he includes no address to which Fergus and Marsali might write, although Fergus cannot imagine the most expensive Boston expert knowing more than Milady.
Even without being told, he understands that the MacKenzies are gone now as Milady was for all that time, gone such that grief leaks from the letter's staunchly inked words, gone so that he has no answer when Germain asks when they will visit Jem again, gone in a way that has robbed him once more of a true goodbye.

She finds him, sitting on the steps, outside Lallybroch. Taken a seat beside him, she says, “A penny for your thoughts.” Turning, he grins.
“Just thinking about my parents.” She takes his hand, and rests her head on his shoulder. His parents were killed in WW2. He rarely talks about them.
“What brought them to your mind?”
“This place in a round about way. I was thinking about Claire and Jamie, trying to picture them here.” He shakes his head, “I can feel them here. See them in Jem’s stubbornness, in Mandy’s sweetness.”
“Me too. There are days I miss them so much, I feel like my heart is breaking.” Bree confesses.
“Aye. Mine as well. It is different with my mum and dad. They have been gone so long. But still, I was just thinking about whether they would love Jemmy and Mandy.”
“Of course they would!” She calls out.
“They are so different then the children of their generation and even mine.” He chuckles, “My mum would be shocked by Jemmy’s straight forward way of talking. My dad would frown at Mandy’s way of getting into scrapes with her brother.”
His wife nods. “They are unique. Because of their upbringing. Without time travel, they would be children of the sixties or early seventies. That would make them different, as would Jemmy not growing up for the first part of his life, on Fraser’s Ridge, in the past. Still,” she threads her arm through his, “They would adore them because they are their grandchildren.”
“I wish they could know them.”
She turns his face to hers. “Teach our kids about them. They should know both sets of grands, after all.”
He smiles and kisses her. “A wonderful idea Mrs. Mackenzie.”

Outlander Season 6 Finale
I thought this episode was very well done. Stuck fairly close to the book. I don't think we've had a true cliffhanger ending since Season 1a with Jamie in the window. Hopefully droughtlander isn't another 2 years wait.
SPOILERS BELOW>>>>>>>>>
Jamie Fraser knows how to build a house! Not only is it big and beautiful, but there is a full armory in the basement! Did he stash some of the guns he gave the Native Americans? Because, he had at least a dozen rifles and half as many handguns. Prepared for just about anything, that's our JAMMF!
I saw someone refer to Claire as Clannie Oakley and it made me laugh. She's a pretty good shot! How she fit that horse pistol in her skirt pocket is a seamstress miracle! Was it like a tunnel pocket and the gun was strapped to her thigh? That thing ain't lightweight. Anyway she wasn't messing around and shot that dude in the gut without missing a beat. Claire Fraser, ladies and gentlemen, dealing out “fuck around and find out” since 1774.
The Jamie/Claire love scene was OK. Sam completely nude to distract us all from Cait clothed. They hid the pregnancy well - kudos to Caitriona and Sam though because that could not have been comfortable for either of them - even if they trust each other completely. Pregnancy is a vulnerable state of mind and body.
Poor Tom Christie! You can see that this whole ordeal has just taken it out of him. He's determined to make sure Claire doesn't come to any harm. And Jamie's no fool...he studied Tom and figured out the why of it and seems to have made his peace with it. Jamie has a lot of great qualities, but he's admittedly a jealous man. That he lets this slide without comment is interesting. Jamie is using Tom’s feelings for Claire to keep her alive. Very shrewd, that Jamie.
Richard Brown! Is he evil? Misguided? I thought maybe he was really just trying to do his best in a bad situation there for a minute when he talked to Claire, but then he had to go and ruin it. The guy is bad news and he's got to go! I can't remember in ABOSSA if the Frasers take him out but hopefully someone will. Ian? Where you at dude?! If anyone needs an arrow to the heart it's Richard Brown.
Turns out Ian is on their trail and attacks in the knick of time! Before the B team of this whole debacle puts Jamie on a boat to Scotland, Ian and Chief Bird along with some friends comes to the rescue and takes out the bad guys. There’s one guy left and Jamie says “don’t shoot him He knows where Clare is!” And bad guy is like “Ha! Can’t kill me, MFers!” but then Ian says “So do we” and you can just see the guy went to “Oh Shit!” in about 1/10 of a second. Chief shoots this guy through his hand and into his eye - pretty graphic, but kinda cool - gotta say.
The MacKenzies are on the road to Edenton so Roger can look into becoming an ordained minister. I think in the book they are in the future, so not there when all this goes down at the Big House. Too bad because Bree could have shot the snot out of those bad guys. Anyway, Jem gets lice - they cut his hair and find out he's got the same birthmark as Roger. Hurray! Roger is a biodad.......Hey show! For the love of Outlander fans everywhere, please stop the Roger/Bree love scenes. Really...they don’t work. The actors do not have romantic chemistry and the age difference makes it kind of icky. Thank you.......The most interesting part of this section to me was that Jemmy was talking to Bree's stomach. Now kids do this all the time IRL, but I found this interesting because in the books Jem & Amanda can "feel" each other and have a very strong connection. Laying some groundwork writers?
WTH with the Fisher folk??!? What an ungrateful, ridiculously pious bunch of crazies! And that one lady that Fergus threw the drink in her face should get another one....was she in Cranesmuir back in the day when they tried to burn Claire as a witch? Because she sure is stuck on that witchcraft stuff.
So they left us in an interesting place. Claire is in jail, awaiting trial. Tom Christie is watching over her. Jamie and Ian are heading there to rescue her...maybe? Break her out of jail? The MacKenzies are still on the road and don't know any of this stuff yet. Maybe Fergus will get the news and save the day with a scathing article in L'Onion on the injustice!

I am confused whether Bree and Roger's son from book 9 is unable to travel or not? It was not clear to me when i read the book. What you think of it?
Wee Davie MacKenzie isn't able to travel.
Meaning, that it's very unlikely that Brianna and Roger and Jem and Mandy will ever return to the 20th century
