It’s been ~two months since I started drawing Starkid comics, so I decided to make a little comparison between when I first drew a character vs the most recent time I drew that character.

OKAY
i am a huge star kid fan.... a stan, if you will.
and i think they are all so talented and work hard and are good at what they do.
but... "Together" from firebringer just isn't as good as their other songs from any musical...
i think Lauren and Meredith are so talented, but that song was just... weird.
i think it is important to the story, especially to the zazzalil and jemila storyline
(also i cant spell to begin with and i'm too lazy to look this up)
but the song was just awkward and i get what they were trying to do but like i think the harmony was weird idk.
i just don't see anyone talking about this ever and everyone is like "lol ouch my butt is the 'worst' song ever in firebringer"
but like "together" just doesn't hit the mark...

Ok but Firebringer is supremely overrated. I see people love it so much but it’s not that great. And I can’t STAND Zazalil x Jemila, it feels like they have no chemistry and just smashed them together to say that they had a lesbian couple be the main characters. The songs are good but that’s about it

Zazzalil glared at the old oak door. They were snowed in. Their date was ruined! And she was going to propose tonight! Fuck whatever god had messed this up! She was going to fight them herself!
Jemilla hummed in the kitchen as she made breakfast trying not to let her frustration show. She had planned on proposing tonight! Now their day long date wasn’t going to happen! She could still make today special though!
Zazzalil ran threw ideas. She didn’t want to postpone. She could make this romantic! Maybe some slow music? Make dinner? She could do this!
They spent most of the day lazing around relaxing, watching old Christmas specials, and enjoying warm drinks (tea for Jemilla and hot chocolate for Zaz). The fire crackling while they curled up under a soft flannel blanket with their cat, Snarl, curled on the chair nearby purring up a storm.
“I never realized how creepy this movie was,” Jemilla murmured as the elves started singing. Her hand brushed Zazzalil’s.
“But elf practice,” Zazzalil smirked knowing full well what Jemilla thought of that meme.
“I hate you.” Jemilla said though her eyes told a very different story, “I hate you and your elf practice.”
Zazzalil kissed her cheek “You love me.”
Jemilla kissed her back without hesitation, “Maybe.”
Zazzalil took a second to admire Jemilla’s face is the firelight. How the orange glow caught her hair. How she tapped her mug absentmindedly.
They stayed like that for hours. Together and warm as cheesy Hallmark movies and Christmas specials played. Frosty, Rudolph, A Year Without a Santa Claus, A Christmas Melody, A Christmas Prince, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, then A Charlie Brown Christmas came on.
Jemilla stood as Christmas Time is Here started to play “May I have this dance?”
Zazzalil smiled as she took Jemilla’s hand “Of course.”
Christmas Time is here
Zazzalil put her head on Jemilla’s shoulder and looked up at her. God she was gorgeous.
Happiness and cheer
Jemilla smiled down at Zazzalil. The firelight caught her eyes so they glowed. She wanted to marry Zazzalil. The ring felt heavy in her robe pocket.
Fun for all that children call
Snarl brushed against Zazzalil’s legs but she paid him no mind. Sorry dude she thought I’m mentally getting ready to propose.
Their favorite time of the year
Snow had started to fall again outside. The cool glow seeping threw the window and showering Jemilla in its beauty. Making her look like some otherworldly queen of winter who spared Zazzalil out of the goodness of her heart.
Snowflakes in the air
Zazzalil double checked that she still had Jemilla’s ring. Thank god she did. The blue sapphire glittered on the silver band, Jemilla complained about the diamond industry a lot and Zazzalil had figured she wouldn’t want her wedding ring to be a product of that.
Carols everywhere
Jemilla felt it when the ring box hit her leg. The gold band with a small fire opal. Zazzalil’s fascination with fire made the stone appropriate, and the diamond industry was incredibly unethical. Gold because of how beautiful Zazzalil looked in it, like a sun goddess above the mere mortals below.
Olden times and ancient rhymes
Jemilla could do this! She could get down on one knee and ask the most important question of her life to the woman she loved with her whole heart.
Of love and dreams to share
Zazzalil could do this! She could ask the most amazing woman in existence to marry her!
Sleigh bells in the air
Jemilla pressed a soft kiss to Zazzalil’s lips. Their soft and she tasted like hot chocolate.
Beauty everywhere
“I love you,” Zaz smiled up at her eyed full of adoration.
Yuletide by the fireside
Jemilla dropped to her knee “Then will you make me the happiest woman in existence?”
“Jemilla,” She looked shocked. Wait had Jemilla fucked up? Was Zazzalil not ready? Oh god!
And joyful memories there
Zazzalil pulled a ring out of her plaid shirt pocket “I was gonna ask you asshole.”
Jemilla broke out into a laugh as she was filled with relief “Will you marry me?”
Zazzalil dragged her up and pulled her into a searing kiss. That was a solid yes in Jemilla’s book.

Emoni: One of my MC's, just drawn by @workinpurgatory :) I mean I'd love to be my own main chr but she has different skin and eyes than I do :/ She's Australian-Irish with a sort of medium skin tone with green eyes and purple hair...she's basically my Gamora lmao
Ruby: When I started working on her character, I was like 'oh okay I don't really want to focus too much on her because **' but I've grown to really like her! Also I the more I decided on her the more she was reminding me of my old friend...who I never really liked and she was a bitch but Ruby has so much more depth than this person I know IRL...but like appearance? 92℅ based on/inspired by that ex friend...so her I guess
Lowen: When i imagine him i get a I Am Number Four, Riot Club, The Host vibes...so someone like Max Irons crossed with Douglas Booth and Matthew Daddario?
Lonnie: She is inspired by my bright and bubbly and sweet and cute little cousin who just turned 5 the other day... :) this character (who is 9) and my cousin both remind me of Elle Fanning!
ReBelle: Ava Phillipe! Reese Witherspoon's clone! But with like brown hair
Ray Gibson: HE'S MY RON WEASLEY TBH not only red haired but sweet and charming and strong but sad and my baby 💓 Josh Hutcherson

Samson's group: the guy rebelle has a crush on I forget his name, I haven't written these ones yet, can be THOMAS BRODIE SANGSTER literally the whole maze runner group and The Boys from The Riot Club they are dickheads in the movie but my chrs are a friend group not at all violent
Grace: Chloe Grace Moretz from Kick Ass? Yeah.
Devinia: okay I swear I haven't ripped off all my characters from existing fandoms but relating them to other well know characters seems easy so that y'all understand what kind of person they are or what they look like...but Devinia is similar Princess from the Starkid Company's production of Twisted, a parody of Aladdin told from Jafar's P.O.V, in a Wicked style. Her personality is like that of Zazalil from Starkid's original Firebringer, they both want to get out in the world and do things and be more than what is expected of them. Amaya from the CW's Legends of Tomorrow comes to mind as all these women are badasses who appreciate knowledge and culture and history... Devinia is cute and short and thicc so basically the opposite of Lauren Lopez, who plays Zaz.
Jaala:....Jemila!! Zazalil's partner and former Tribe Leader from Firebringer...they're a cute couple in the show and so Devinia and Jaala are my cute lesbians 💗💝💓 Same sort of body shape as Meredith Stepien who plays Jemila
Haycinth: I THOUGHT THAT THIS NAME WAS ORIGINAL FROM MY BRAIN BUT ITS ACTUALLY A PLANT!! I DONT WANT MY EVIL GUYS NAME TO MEAN PLANT BUT I'm too lazy to change it... A squat guy, middle aged, threatening, Dylan Saunders as Dumbledore in the Potter series by Starkid, less gay and more creepy, like if you saw this guy down the street you would go out of your way to avoid him (Haycinth, not Dylan) I used to see an evil Danny deveto but not the Penguin...like genuinely psychologically scary!
