the post i rb'd a little while ago abt the mlp fandom always being kinda into grimdark parodies reminded me to go rewatch friendship is witchcraft for the first time in like eight years or smth and tbh i can't lie and say i'm not having fun since edgy parodies have their charm, but some of the jokes being made are like.

well you can tell they were made by people who didn't know any better at that time.

Stereolab themed Blythe doll concepts

-Jenny ondioline: not immediately obvious to me but probably the transient random cover art but in red and yellow like the EP on a screen printed long sleeve top. She comes with a tiny ondioline obviously

-Brigitte/Calimero: idk tbis is a gimme if Brigitte Fontaine has an iconic outfit she’d be wearing it. Baby bangs and comes with a cigarette

-Lucia Pamela: long sleeve long midnight blue dress with gold embroidery to look like stars hair scarf with little planets on it comes with mini color book into outer space with Lucia Pamela

Wait the Sims have lore? I thought it was just a funny sandbox?

Oh, it is a funny sandbox, but the developers had a lot of fun setting up the drama in the premade neighbourhoods and linking the games together chronologically! I've talked about the iconic Bella Goth, so I'll also go into just. The whole lore of Strangetown. Because it's my favourite town in the Sims franchise and it's bonkers.

The town itself is tiny, being a small desert town barren of much life. There's a few extra roads off the main one, but it is a small, out of the way place. The roads have lovely names such as Cover Up Road, Road to Nowhere, and Dead End Lane. It's also described in game as a place truth seekers move to, due to it's secrets, and where nothing is as it seems. Basically, combine Gravity Falls with Area 51, and you've got the vibe of Strangetown.

Five families live in Strangetown, and there are two premade families for you to move in. All of whom- with the exception of one, who's designed to be a straight man, have some insane lore, both in the sense of it being good and in the sense of it being unhinged. Here's a recap of each and every one because I adore them all.

The Grunts are a military family, with the father, General Buzz Grunt, running the household like a bootcamp since the tragic divorce and later tragic murder of his ex-wife Lyla. He's not the murderer, to clarify, we'll talk about her later. General Buzz has a grudge against the strange and unusual, and especially the supernatural, and discriminates heavily against his alien neighbours, the Smiths.

His three children, Tank, Ripp, and Buck, all have their own issues. Tank is the only one to go along with his father's vision, and deeply looks up to him, but he doesn't have any friends and feels pressured to join the military. Ripp is a teenage slacker who doesn't get along with his father and is bullied by his older brother, but who has a close friendship with Ophelia Nigmos and Johnny Smith, who I'll get into a little later. Finally, Buck is a sensitive soul, who wants to become a stylist, and doesn't know why his father doesn't pay attention to him.

The Curious family are made up of three brothers, Pascal, Lazlo, and Vidcund, who are alien enthusiasts who have gotten a closer encounter with them than they could have ever expected. See, Pascal was abducted by aliens and returned home pregnant! Not only that, but Vidcund will also get abducted by aliens if you play through the scenario the game gives you playing as the Curious family. Of course, being a bunch of nerds who wanted to learn more about aliens, the brothers are excited and happy about raising some alien kids, so all is well!

Outside of the new arrivals to the family, Pascal is logical minded, but not cruel, and is enemies with the more evil Loki Beaker, partially due to a past crush on his wife Circe when they were teenagers and partially due to how he mistreats Pascal's close friend Nervous Subject. Vidcund is serious and exact, and used to date Circe as a teenager before she got with Loki, though he still holds a torch for her. Lazlo is less serious and more chilled out than his brothers, and is in love with a townie called Crystal Vu. They also have a sister- Jenny Smith, who's just as alien mad but in a differing way.

Speaking of the Smiths, they're perhaps the strangest family in Strangetown, both due to being literal aliens (mostly), but also due to being suprisingly normal despite all that. PT9 (short for Pollination Technician Nine) is a stay at home dad who adores his family even more than his hobbies of caring for his lawn, collecting coupons, and staring at the sky, while his wife, Jenny Smith, is a career woman and nurse who wishes she could spend more time with her family. Also, she really likes green.

The two of them have two kids, Johnny and Jill. Johnny is soon to become an adult, and he desperately wants to be cool and popular. He's going out with Ophelia Nigmos, and is friends with Ripp Grunt, but he and Tank Grunt are enemies. Meanwhile Jill is a little nerd who loves dolphins and wants to be a deep sea welder.

Onto the Specter family, which consists of Olive Specter, wan elder nearing the end of her life, and her teenage niece Ophelia Nigmos. Olive Specter is, to be blunt, a serial killer. Her house is full of the graves of the Sims she's killed, and she has a want to invite over her enemy General Buzz Grunt- presumably to make him her next victim. Her potential victims include her sister and brother in law, two out of three of her husbands, Lyla Grunt, her own parents, and many strangers, all of whom died either by drowning, starvation, electrocution, or fire, and while obviously in game your sims can't murder anyone in these ways these deaths were likely picked as they are ways you could theoretically kill someone.

The reason she's a serial killer is implied to be because she is in love with the Grim Reaper. In fact, they are heavily implied to have had a child together. However, she neglected her son and he was taken away by the social worker, and adopted by the Beakers as a test subject and (presumably) renamed to Nervous Subject.

Ophelia Nigmos lives with Olive after the suspicious death of her parents. Understandably, she's incredibly anxious about things, and is described as a hypochondriac. She cares deeply about family, and is dating Johnny Smith along with being friends with Ripp Grunt, despite the animosity between their guardians.

Finally for families that already live in the neighbourhood, and I have been saving best for last, is the Beaker family. As can be judged by the name, the Beakers are scientists, and mad ones at that. Loki Beaker is seeking the recognition he knows he deserves, and Circe knows 238 ways to make people scream and is eager to get a promotion. While mean and very very obviously evil, they are close with each other.

However, what few people know is that in secret, they are performing unethical human experimentation in their own home. They adopted a child from the social worker to use as their test subject, who gained the name Nervous Subject due to his tendency of twitching and blinking a lot. Despite his erratic personality- being incredibly sloppy, cripplingly shy, overly active, serious to a fault, and incredibly grouchy- his focus in life is on having a family, which is perhaps ironic for the son of Death himself.

Onto the families without houses but able to be placed in the world, theres the Singles- four roommates, including the Curious's half alien half-sisters and Loki's sister- and Ajay Loner, worlds most normal man, but they're less involved in the lore. Love them too though.

We're back to me just sharing my micro comments about the episode, because why not 🤣

Beau calling the guy's car "his cherished baby" maybe went straight to my heart 🥺💘

Was that Jenny trying to make Beau jealous with the "you mean the car, right?"? Because I think it was 👀

Dean Winchester's "Murder. I'd murder 'em all. There'd be torture first. There'd be like, a lot of torture. And then there'd, it would end up with death." 🤝🏻 Beau Arlen's "Savages! Oh, that is a hanging offense."

The way this cop is flirting with Jenny and she's having none of it. I wonder why 🤔👀😏 And don't think I missed Beau's little smirk/smile when she shuts the guy down with the "I'm a tea drinker actually."

"Hoyt always gets her man. So to speak." Beau realizing she's got her manz' heart or........???? And her little flirty smile after he said that.....😉😘

"You are a mystery wrapped in an enigma." Considering he's the sheriff and his literal job is solving mysteries, I'm going to take this as a sign, she's the biggest mystery he has to solve 😌💕

"I don't date cops. At least not anymore." Or, is this Jenny creating an obstacle simply to protect her heart from getting broken again, because she knows there's something here? 🥺😌 And "Copy that." No, don't. Beau, I repeat, do NOT copy that.

"We still have a few secrets and mysteries up our sleeves." Beau trying to simultaneously flirt with and impress Jenny? Without even realizing he's doing it? More likely than you'd think 😌😏👀💕

Beau smiling so happily looking at Jenny after he got her laughing has my whole heart 🥺😍🥰💕

The way Beau jumped on that car, seriously risking himself, it just goes to show how he'll do anything to protect people 🥺💘 Which simultaneously makes me love him even more and be scared for him, because if something happens to him...... 😱 Beau Arlen must be protected at all costs 🥺💘

I like that Beau was just chilling there, in the middle of the road, and that calling Jenny was a priority before getting up 🤣 How's he so cute? 🥺💟

The scene of Beau and Jenny in her office is so cute, him being so hurt but still on the case, her teasing to lighten the mood, being impressed with him putting the lo-Jack on the car 💯👌🏻

The way Jenny kicked in the door because Beau was hurt has me on the floor bawling. They care about each other so much 🥺💕

"My daring ingenuity. And her smarts." The dream team 💟👑🏆🔥💯

Beau's excitment over the legendary baseball card is so adorable, as is the fact that he actually kept his deal? Let the old guy have one last peek 🥺

"So, really, you're never gonna date a cop again?" "Why, would it break your heart?" "Oh. You wish." His lips are saying "you wish", but the tiny cautious glance Beau takes at Jenny right before asking her about dating cops again and the fond way he looks at Jenny right before he says it is saying something else 😌💕👀

Jenny telling him & herself that she's never going to date a cop again to try to ignore her feelings for Beau 🤝🏻 Beau pretending that the thought of her never dating "a cop" again doesn't break his heart to try to ignore his feelings for Jenny

And believe you me, it does matter to Beau, because after his "copy that", not only did he bring it up w/ Pop at some point, he also asked Jenny again at the bar. Clearly, it's important to him, for Reasons™️ 👀😌😏💕

You guys know that meme like "we were dating, but it was a secret. And it was so secret that even we didn't know about it."? That's Beau and Jenny 🤣😘😏😎

Cormac's about to end up in the crossfire between Cassie and his parents, and I'm intrigued to see how that goes......... 🧐

Okay so I reread Coquet up until chapter 8 (I’m not sure my heart is ready to relive the angst yet) BUT a few things I need to comment on:

1) If haru is in love (🙄) with Jennie then why the fuck is this man all side eyes and daggers to JK??? Like??? Is it just typical male bravado or? And was he really gonna tell reader about the whole Jennie sich at the wedding rehearsal dinner??? 😐 when he cornered her before she was like you know what it doesn’t matter and blew him off (iconic btw)

2) JK literally tells her “trust me” (like direct quote) THREE (3) TIMES. Once in each chapter for the first three chapters…oh shoot and then he writes it at the end of chapter 8 so that’s four (4) times!!!!! And idk 😐 I’m upset about it 😭 the man has been literally begging for her trust from the beginning??? They even had a whole ass convo about the inherent irony about it but he also has done a really good job of being open and honest I think and I’m just even more sad now 🤧. YN is gonna need quite the grand gesture to make it up to him 👀👀👀, bc he deserves it!!!!

3) chapter 6 had a ridiculous amount of foreshadowing in it that went completely over my head 🤦🏽‍♀️ I took so many screen shots of it 😂 I’ll send a separate ask with them bc wow…I should have seen so much of this coming wtf. IT WAS RIGHT THERE THE WHOLE TIME 🤯

4) this line in chapter 7 hits different now and just 😣😬

Like I know after he’s like no no that’s not what I meant but it still hurts to hear more now that we know what went down and that he called off the wedding (for now 🤞🏽).

So, I had to sit and think about this for a minute because I’m in the middle of trying to write Coquet 9 and it’s getting way too angsty 😂😂😂

Anyway, I’ll answer this per question:

1) The short answer is—typical male bravado. He feels threatened and somewhat insecure that the woman whom he left is somehow happy without him? Also, (even though I only glossed over it) –JK literally just got there and everyone is already fawning over him?? That’s just testimony to how ‘charming’ he is. Those 5-star ratings don’t lie!

2) Ah…trust. Very tricky. 😬 So, going into this date, as I wrote in Part 8, he wanted to try something ‘different’ for this booking. This was going to be the last one—ever since, well—keeping up with his other job has been a challenge lately, which is mostly why he stepped away from being an escort (tiny spoiler there). I’ve also gone into a lot of introspection from OC’s POV in the beginning, where she is fully aware that this is all for show. It’s fake. That’s not new information to her because she wanted this. But as she spends more time with JK, those lines are blurred…and then there’s their convo about being honest with each other early on. As someone who’s recently gone through a bad breakup, OC finds herself questioning his motives even though he is trying to be honest with her. I think that’s one thing that JK forgets. They haven’t really gone into detail about OC and Haru’s breakup and all that. At the heart of it, there’s some trauma and lots of apprehension on her part. That’s the bit of reality that I’m trying to add there. She’s obviously attracted to him but it’s also a confusing time for her. I sort of implied that OC hasn’t really gone out with anyone since Haru dumped her so—it’s a complex dance.

For JK’s part—this is the first time he’s actually trying to be himself around someone he’s attracted to. It’s also been a while for him (another spoiler) so in a way, there’s also some lack of experience on his side.

They’re both trying to figure things out as they go. Also, as deep as I feel like this story has gotten, I have to keep reminding myself that we’re basically talking days here—not even a week into them getting to know each other. In ‘Bachelor/Bachelorette’ context, this marks the end of the group dates and we are just starting to get into 1-on-1 dates and maybe, MAYBE…the fantasy suite. In the end, somebody gets disappointed and/or ends up crying and having to leave in a fancy car 😂😂. I hope that made sense?

Having said all that, he still didn’t deserve those words from OC. She was emotional and irrational, yes but—at the end of the day, words hurt just as much, if not more so…OC will have to grovel!

3) YES it did LOL!! I like to set my table early, you know. But sometimes, the details get buried…much like that locket detail when I first read HP: OOTP 🤣! I literally had to go back after they referenced it in HBP. But anyway, I felt like I was a bit more explicit in my writing and I appreciate that you actually went back to look. Some readers were already picking it up after I published that—hence all the, “I knew it” comments 😅

4) I just wanted to really drive the point home—that Taehyung loved Jennie soooo much, which would make the scene in Part 8 much more potent…and in turn, it will also play into the next couple of updates. Funny enough, as my sister was beta-reading this part for me, she referenced a similar musing that Taehyung made in “In The Soop” (I think??) where he talks about his mixtape and he says he doesn’t know when he’ll release it yet and that he keeps deleting songs because he doesn’t want to sing about emotions that he doesn’t feel anymore.

And, honestly, how you’re interpreting that speech now wasn’t my initial intention but given the context of the events that took place after that, that can easily apply to that situation, too.

As I’m writing Part 9, there will be similar monologues to this, or at least in the same context. It’s a bit dramatic but then…I wouldn’t be me if it wasn’t dramatic, right? 😎

NAME OF MUSE(S): Doomstar Magician (you are here), Aether (you are here), Silent Magician ( @silentmagician ), Iida (Discord), Gilgamesh (Discord), and a handful of OCs from more obscure fandoms that I won’t detail here.

EXPERIENCE/HOW LONG (MONTHS / YEARS?): I’ve been roleplaying on tumblr since 2012 but I’ve roleplayed far longer outside of here.

PLATFORMS YOU'VE USED: Skype, Tumblr, Discord and other forums long since forgotten.

BEST EXPERIENCE: Probably all the extensive development my best friend and I put into growing Doomstar into his own person and writing his story in a way that let him decide who he wanted to be and how he wanted to live his life. From there he’s had so many opportunities to meet so many other muses and develop relationships and bonds with others that he’s so proud to hold on to. Also, anything involving Atlantis automatically rises to the top for me.

RP PET PEEVES/DEALBREAKERS: Y’all really want me to choose violence huh? Fine.

PEOPLE WHO DON’T READ CHARACTER ABOUT PAGES AND THEIR RESPECTIVE VERSES. Did y’all think we as the writers wouldn’t notice? Did you think it would go over well with us? Do you know how disrespectful it is to the writer? Do better. Once I know you didn’t take the time to do some reading, I automatically start ignoring. You want to interact? Too fucking bad.

A pet peeve of mine… it has no impact on the actual writing aspect but it’s when people have those tiny, over baked Kentucky fried icons. If I can’t see what the icon is? I start losing interest because I can’t see what you want to show me. OR when people have no icon size consistency. Is there any reason you have to use an entire screenshot as an icon? Like why does it take up such a chunk of the page? Do you need help cropping? What’s the major malfunction here?

FLUFF, ANGST OR SMUT: Angst is my bread and butter, fluff is also a preference, but there’s no smut here. For obvious ace muse reasons.

PLOTS OR MEMES: Plotting. There’s something about actual planning and development that really catches my interest and it’s something that we as muns enjoy talking in length about.

LONG OR SHORT REPLIES: I gravitate towards long replies because I like putting in the effort. I can do short replies but it feels like wasted potential. I’m also not a fan of one sentence replies either. If I’m giving effort, don’t hit me with one sentence because I promise I won’t respond from there.

BEST TIME TO WRITE: Night.
