.. how time has kept us all in tune and line .. 1957 Sherwood , Nainital, School Play, Nikolai Gogol's 'The Government Inspector' , Danny Kaye the phenomenal talent, playing the Inspector .. and I use it on stage in Milman Hall for the Annual Concert, where I play the Mayor .. and during a rehearsal, class mate Chris Borthwick, who plays the Inspector suggests the famous line to be spoken at a particular scene - impromptu .. and the entire Hall comes down .. it was the most popular song of the World .. and gives me my best actor Cup - the Kendall Cup .. Geoffrey Kendall, who built the drama Company Shakespeareana, travelling all over the World with it .. came to put up the plays of Shakespeare in School .. asked me to play a part on one such day .. I did not coz' was prepping for my Finals Senior Cambridge Exam .. John Kurrien, classmate did it .. Shashi Kapoor married his daughter - Jennifer - who acted on stage with her Father, and where and when Shashi ji met her ..

"The New Voyages" review

This one is actually a collection of short stories by fan authors, which makes the stories seem more like episodes of the series. It has also the distinct honor of being introduced by Roddenberry and most members of the cast. The stories are generally well-written and in character.

Some spoilers ahead:

Ni Var (by Claire Gabriel; intro by Nimoy) takes the plot of "The Enemy Within", but applied to Spock and the division between his Vulcan rational part, and his human emotional part. Besides the fact that I'm not sure such division works at that biological level, the two Spocks aren't all that different really. And it's not a very novel concept, specially right after a similar plot in previous book "Spock must die". But bonus points for Kirk giving the middle finger to his own reflection.

Intersection Point (by Juanita Coulson; intro by Doohan) is one of the best stories. The Enterprise is seriously crippled while navigating through an anomaly cloud, which is quickly contracting and threatens to crush the entire ship. Anyone who enters the cloud to retrieve a crucial component of the ship, is mentally destroyed by its eldritch qualities. Great tension and difficult choices.

The Enchanted Pool (by Marcia Ericson; intro by Nichols) is an attempt to write a fairy tale with Spock thrown in the middle for good measure. A bit of purple prose, and doesn't quite work. The resolution of the mistery is ingenous, even when convoluted.

Visit to a Weird Planet Revisited (by Ruth Berman; intro by Barrett) is actually the other half of a fanfic (Visit to a Weird Planet, not published here) where Kirk, Spock and Bones end up in the real world, right in the studio where they're filming Star Trek. Here instead, we follow the actors, who appear in the Enterprise and have to improvise to avert a danger. The other story was more fun, since Kirk and co. are more clumsy and hilarious in our world (being even "attacked" by fans), while the actors are just slightly less competent than their counterparts.

The Face on the Barroom Floor (by Eleanor Arnason and Ruth Berman; intro by Takei) is a really fun story. Kirk gets into a fight in a bar while in shore leave, is detained, teams up with a ratty thief, and crashes a party, while his crew search for him frantically. In the line of TOS best comedy-adventure episodes.

The Hunting (by Doris Beetem; intro by the editors) is a bit "meh". Spock goes into a Vulcan ritual which requires to mind-meld with a wild beast, and McCoy accompanies him. When Spock goes wild in the process, the good doctor has to hunt him and give him back his sanity. There could have been a more homoerotic fight between them, as in "Amok Time".

The Winged Dreamers (by Jennifer Guttridge; intro by Kelley) is another high point. The Enterprise crew falls under the influence of some creatures that make their fantasies seem real. So real that people can actually die if imagining the wrong thing. Spock is less affected, but slowly begins to hallucinate too, and the triumvirate fall into paranoia as neither they (nor the reader) can tell what's real and what's not anymore.

Mind-Sifter (by Shirley Maiewski; intro by Shatner) drags a bit at the beginning, when Kirk wakes up in a sanatory, his mind almost destroyed. It gets more interesting once Spock and McCoy start a quest to search for him. Great interactions between these two, reminiscent of "The Tholian Web".

After the eight stories there's still a little poem about Spock and Leila.

Spirk Meter: 10/10*. Not all stories are equally slashy, but the parts which do, are slashy in spades.

Ni Var has Kirk worrying about Spock all the time, and "human Spock" wondering if what he feels for the Captain is friendship... or love (something which happens too in one of Roddenberry's story concepts for a movie, around this time).

Intersection Point has a clear parallel between the anguish of a female crewmember, after a man (obviously her boyfriend) loses his mind in the anomaly, and Kirk agonizing once Spock has to enter the same anomaly.

The Enchanted Pool, where Spock refuses to kiss a beautiful female time and time again. Even when the woman assures him it's the only way to break a spell and escape. Even when Spock is doing far more dangerous things ALL THE TIME to solve problems. Of course, he considers the kiss a total waste of time once it doesn't work.

The Face on the Barroom Floor: Kirk is invited to a bar by McCoy and Sulu, who have found three women to pass the time, one for each. What does Kirk do? He gets out the bar two seconds later, puts on a samurai costume, and goes instead to a bar full of muscular, rowdy men, to get thrashed by them. Of course.

The Winged Dreamers has Spock wishing to stay on a planet with Kirk, just the two of them, for ever and ever. McCoy totally gets what's going on.

And I thought that Mind-Sifter would be about the love between a (quite unproffesional) nurse, and her mentally unstable patient, Kirk. But oh man, where do I even begin!? For starters, we have Kirk using his mind link with Spock to cry for help, across the galaxy and several centuries. And later he's concerned about how much can Spock read into his mind. Then we have McCoy informing the nurse that no, Kirk can't stay with her, because his love is his career and his... (trails off, having said too much). Gallant Spock carries an unconscious Kirk in his arms, and tells the nurse that, no matter how much she loves him, Kirk DOES NOT love her back (bitch!). If that wasn't enough, there's a lenghty conversation at the end, where Kirk almost melts in love and appreciation for Spock, and the Vulcan blushes at his own emotional display.

*A 10 in this scale is the most obvious spirk moments in TOS. Think of the back massage, "You make me believe in miracles", or "Amok Time" for example.

Branch: Troll Of The Wildglade

Chapter 7: Branch's Rebellious Spirit And Faces

In the Trolls Brotherhood AU, Branch is seeing his father's sacrifice himself to stop the hunter's leader Hernan Reyes, after the brothers were captured by Dante Reyes and his hunters, Clay have a fear of losing his brothers, while he blaming himself for leaving the forest, when Viva, his friends and the children comfort him, he delivered a message to his brothers. They discover that Clay is survived by the fires. Branch is marked by Ignacio Carapax, the trolls are became slaves.

Everyone all gathered around the corral, eager to see the new trolls being tamed. It's not everyday when the new trolls comes here that would later become new slaves for the aristocrats. All the hunters knew how the gates is destroyed by a bomb, the brothers would go against the hunters that challenges them. But Viva looked and see a phoenix that leading her to the arena.

Viva: The phoenix, but it's my only hope. Don't worry, Poppy, your older sister will rescue you from being coming a slave to the Talons. (She braided her hair in a braided bun, with a white hair tie. She follows the phoenix to the arena, the brothers to wear, not that they are helping him, Branch struggled when they attempted to add the helmet on them they managed. The brothers hated the armor because it was quite heavy.)

Forge Fitzwilliam: We have the challengers, the creatures from the forest, the trolls. We have the champion, the David Kane known as the Black Manta!

The brothers gasped and looked at him, the brothers have to work together as a team, the Black Manta stood in the ring, ready to fight. Branch had a look of determination in his eyes. They're fight these guys even with their last breath. They had to win to escape them. The troll slaves waited eagerly to how Branch, John Dory, Spruce, Clay and Floyd will do against them and after seeing him mess with Ignacio Carapax, they can't wait to see him in action. When they unlocked the pen, they bursts out and charges at him. John Dory skids to the before he slams his club at him. Floyd then flips over him and headbutt him in the face, making him dizzy. While fazed, Clay then ran around him until the Black Manta swung his onto John Dory and Spruce's faces, they groaning and got knocked out.

Forge Fitzwilliam: Two trolls are out! Three more to go!

Branch scoffed at the him and then turned his head towards the Black Manta, who was watching the whole thing, and smirked back.

Branch: (confident grin) What do you think of that, Blockhead?

Floyd and Clay: Yeah!

David Kane/The Black Manta: Hahaha! You trolls are no better to defeat me. But okay, my turn! (He used his spear, Clay, Floyd and Branch just stood there, not moving an inch)

John Dory: What the hell!

Spruce: (groaned) Ow! What! Hey, that's cheating!

Forge Fitzwilliam: Silent! You little creatures!

Suddenly, Clay, Floyd and Branch dropped their shields and weapons, and got on all fours. The Black Manta wondered what was that all about. The brothers looked to him and grinned. They gasped and they got back to the ring, the brothers dashed like a raging bull and jumped onto his face and he threw the four of them flew against the wall. Jennifer got jumped into the area before the guards saw her, as she ran toward the wall and giving them knocked down. Viva jumped in to the ring.

Clay: Viva!

John Dory: Brothers, we have fight that man with our weapons.

David Kane/The Black Manta: Pathetic, and that's without your shield and club. Lousy blue and pink shrimps with wheat and weed hairs!

Branch and Viva: (glared and growled at him) What did you call me! (The crowds gasped, Dante Reyes growled at and grabbed Forge Fitzwilliam.)

Dante Reyes: What the hell, a pink troll doing here?

Forge Fitzwilliam: I don't know! The creatures are acting like wild animals! (A man with a black jumpsuit with black belt around his waist, he threw a smoke bomb by the knock out gas towards to the hunters, the hunters coughing and Noah and Vanessa put on the gas masks on, then they punch them, the hunters gasped when they passed out, and William Afton heard the slave trolls laughing at the hunters.

Cooper: That's funny! HAHAHAHAHAHA!

When he saw his glare, the trolls stopped and acted natural, he whipped on them as they scream in pain.

William Afton: (growled at the slave trolls) Alright! NO ONE ESCAPE FROM PRISON, YOU MONSTERS! (Poppy growled at him, she hisses) You troll escape! (Point her with his dart gun with toxic chemicals in it) HOW'S DARED YOU! GRAYING!

Poppy: FUCK YOU, MONSTER! (She manages to grabbed a red carpet, while she whipped with her hair and pulled it, below his feet. William Afton slipped as he screamed and he fell down on the floor) Branch! (As she ran to the arena.)

Cooper: Darrell, let's leave this horrible place!

Prince Darrell: I'm agree with you, bro! Let's get out of here!

William Afton: (He got up from the floor and seemed two funk trolls began to run away from him) Hey! HEY! HEY! You trolls can't escape from prison, got back to both of your cells! Wait! Wait! Wait! Wait! That's it! I HAVE A ENOUGH WITH YOU CREATURES! (Grabbed Poppy, Cooper, Prince Darrell and a naked glitter troll with pale grey-blue, white hair, a green green and blue eyes, as they scream)

Poppy: LET'S ME GO!

Pale grey-blue glitter troll: HEEEEELLLPPPPPPP!

William Afton: My lord, say two for four! You're messing with a wrong person! (He put them in the bag and he tied it up for the aristocrats)

Branch then charged around like a wild animal, facing the the Black Manta behind the fence and scaring the aristocrats with his glares and growls. The Black Manta used his toxic dart guns and shoot at his right leg, he groaning his right leg. He then threw them against the wall and Dante Reyes laughing wickedly at the brothers.

David Kane/The Black Manta: I defeated six trolls that challenged me!

Branch: (groaned) Why don't you spare yourself the humiliation and give me back my freedom!

Forge Fitzwilliam: (evil smile) Your freedom! HAHAHAHAHAHA!

The hunters grabbed them from the floor, the brothers struggled to break free for hours with no sign of success.

Branch: (yelled angrily) We won't and will not give up. We will escape from here, somehow! Of all the places for a fortress it could have been a meadow, a forest, heck, even in a swamp would be better, but no, it had to be in a desert in this scorching heat caused by this blazing sun! (Ignacio Carapax used the iron on his back.) AAHHHH! Branch faced his head against the pole, hoping to make some shade and to cool himself from sweat along with his brothers and Viva. Outside of the arena, he asked two of the hunters to held them. Elena Wallace as a grown woman wearing navy bluish black sleeveless jumpsuit with black belt around her waist with her knife, a man with a black jumpsuit with black belt around his waist pulled out his sword and say.

Elena Wallace: Michael! What are you!

Mike Schmidt: Leave them alone! (He slashed the hunter's face and he stabbed the other hunter's back, the two hunters groaned in their pain. He pulled out of the hunter's back and Elena Wallace grabbed the one of the bag and escape the arena.)

The teal troll was thirsty, hungry, jealous mostly mad, while he is in pain by poison, William Afton walked into the arena, the villains with their evil laugh at the funk trolls, the hunters holding the brothers in the bags.

Guy Diamond: Hey, you just gotta look on the bright side, we keep sinnnngggiinnngg! (The villains covered their ears and they scream and then Arthur Slugworth used his whipped on his back) Ow! My back!

Arthur Slugworth: No singing! You made a loud noise! (He grabbed Branch, he smiled evilly at him) Hey, what are you doing to do? Singing and making the aristocrats scream, we covered their ears.

Branch: Your new leader killed my father, 20 years ago and he is going to pay for the murder, since father sacrifice himself to save us all. We came from the land of Nonya!

Jennifer, Noah, Elena and Mike saw the hunters held them as their prison, he lazily pulled his rope.

Branch: What was that? Eninac? (groaned in pain)

John Dory, Spruce, Clay and Floyd: BRANCH! (They got out of the bag, a rock troll ran in her battle cry and she rescue her girlfriend and the brothers of the bags, she threw a rope and pulled them as they scream in the floor.)

Viva: Barbara! (Hugs her) Thank you so much!

Barb: The wild teal troll, he's injured from the hunters.

Clay: We got to get out of here and we are going to take him to the hospital.

Mike Schmidt: Come on!

Elena Wallace: Hurry!

The trolls ran out of the arena, the group of people, and the trolls leaving the arena, a Latino man named Rudy Reyes who is in a truck, they got on the truck, he drives out of the arena and get to the hospital on time.

Ignacio Carapax: The trolls got away from us!

Dante Reyes: How's could they?

Forge Fitzwilliam: We will find the trolls soon!

The villains laughing wickedly for the aristocrats.

The brothers, and the group of people are taking Branch to the hospital and recovering from his injury. When Branch wake up from the hospital bed.

One gin and tonic. The bartender raises her eyebrows. Her shoulders, broad like a gymnast. Her voice comes out deep and tough. You got it. I suck on the lime. The tang travels through my nose. First time at Ladies Night?

I had been going to gay clubs for the better part of my adolescence—that is, gay boy clubs, where I danced next to men who smelled like flowers and tequila. They had eyelashes that sparkled with glitter, smooth, bare chests, and pretty red mouths. They told me I looked like Doris Day, hugged me close, and whispered secrets in my ear—who was fucking whom, who got cast in what play, who was peaking on what drug. I knew that other girls my age were sneaking out of their bedroom windows to go to rock concerts and parties at Hollywood mansions, but I was convinced that my nightlife was cooler. I danced up and down Santa Monica Boulevard like it was paved just for me. The posturing and stoicism of the straight guys at my high school could not compete with my warm, new friends. I had the vague hunch that we shared something fundamental, but at sixteen and seventeen, I didn’t know exactly what.

Hot Vintage TV Women's Bracket - List of the Ladies!

As promised below is a full list of all 130 women in the Hot Vintage TV Women's Tournament! Thank you to everyone who submitted their favs!

Just a brief bit of cleanup before the list. Thank you for all the submissions. If your submission didn't make it into the bracket or some of your propaganda isn't used know that I still appreciated the submission even if we weren't able to use it. Some things got cut for being outside the bounds of the tournament, some things got cut because the links were broken, etc. Anything I wasn't sure about got brought to family and friends for a second opinion. I did my best to keep as much in as possible but some things just ended up leaning too far outside of our criteria. If you notice some stuff that seems outside the criteria slip by it's because I tried to be very generous so as long as something wasn't obviously outside of our time period or rules I usually gave it a pass.

Anyway, I am working on the bracket as we speak and apologize in advance cause I don't think there's any way to make round 1 completely painless, as you'll see we have a pretty stacked line-up so I'm excited to see how things work out! hiii your explanations are so succinct and easy to spot. may i ask from your pov what the difference is between SD, FN and SN? like, i have a really hard time telling them apart on not extremely athletic or curvy women & i wonder if you could give some examples & what the main visual cues could be?

Moderate sized people are harder to type, I agree. The people who are easiest to type are those who are extreme examples of their own ID. But since there's 8 billion people on this planet, there's going to be a lot of variety and diversity and people who look like a mix of several things.

The easiest way to identify a Natural type (SN or FN) is by looking for width. Now "width" is the most misunderstood Kibbe term of all time. But it's really not that complicated at all.

Both these women are Natural types and when you look at them, you do not register them as "curvy". You just see their frame. They do not look "voluptuous" in any way. Nothing on their body stands out. Not their breasts or their hips. Especially with Kat, who is known for having a large bust, you can't see them at all in the above dress.

However, while Julia looks visibly tall and "strong" with her shoulders, arms and body, Kat looks more soft and visibly shorter. They are FN and SN respectively.

Compare these two looks. Both of them are wearing strapless gowns that show no cleavage. Yet, you can just tell that Sofia is voluptuous. By looking at her body, even when its fully covered, Sofia's breasts and hips are very pronounced and prominent. This is what is meant by "double curve" or "curve accomodation". Her body's structure itself is curved so its visible through her outfit.

Whereas with JLaw, even though she has a moderately big bust, you cant really tell with this outfit. Again, nothing on her body stands out in any way. You can only see her frame.

Again, the shape of their body does not stand out in these form fitting dresses. Their mid-section looks "wide"; they do not have a small defined waist. They are both Naturals. However Jane looks shorter and "softer" than Brooke, hence she's an SN. Brooke has strong shoulders, arms and visibly looks very tall and strong. She has a typical supermodel build. She is an FN.

now lets compare these two

Christina Hendricks is a verified SD & ScarJo is a verified SN

Even though both of them have covered their bust, its very obvious with Christina that she has big breasts. The shape of her bust and hips stands out, accentuated by her small defined waist.

Meanwhile with ScarJo, nothing on her body stands out and you cant really tell that she's busty.

There are many Natural types who have big breasts but you can't tell they do unless they go out of their way to show some cleavage. A curve dominant type (R/TR/SD) does not have to do this because their curves break the line of their frame and are thus, very prominent.

when she shows cleavage, its apparent that ScarJo has big breasts but when she doesn't, you can't tell at all if she has big breasts or not.

by looking at their faces you can tell that they all give off very different vibes.

Doris has a very sweet harmonious face where no individual feature stands out. She looks like the nice girl in class who you could borrow a pen from.

Cameron has a more badass-esque look, so she looks tougher than Doris. All her features are very balanced tho. She looks like a model or like someone who you could cast in an action movie.

Anita has a bigger nose and lips, long eye shape, a strong jaw. All her features are slightly bigger, sharper and more prominent. She looks like she's about to seduce you. She also looks older and more womanly.

Doris has Natural, Classic essence

Cameron has Romantic, Natural & Classic essence

Anita has Romantic & Dramatic essence

GREAT year for the Favorite Drama category! I knew from the first few minutes of tick, tick...BOOM! that it was winning, but two of the finalists (Dramarama and Everything Everywhere All At Once) gave it a real run for its money. And then TÁR was just impeccable in every way (CATE!!!!!!). Special shoutout to The Godfather for actually living up to the hype and The Batman for being a genuinely good superhero movie. Highly recommend Dramarama in particular to any of my theatre friends that see this.

After Halloween Kills won Biggest Letdown at last year’s Mackolades, I went into Halloween Ends with rock bottom expectations, but was pleasantly surprised! From the opening scene it showed it was completely different from any Halloween movie that came before it, and I was mostly delighted by what followed. It’s far from the best Halloween, and has some major problems, but it’s leagues ahead of Kills, and that alone win it Biggest Surprise for me.

BIGGEST LETDOWN

WINNER: Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness (2022) dir. Sam Raimi

I’ve engaged in a fair bit of MCU hate over the last few years, but I’ve held onto the belief that I’d probably enjoy them if I gave them a chance and just didn’t think too hard about it. Well... I guess I was wrong. I really thought I’d like this, the trailers looked interesting and Sam Raimi has a pretty good track record with me. But yeah... Martin Scorsese was right, these are just flashy theme park rides. Absolutely zero substance worth engaging with. What a disappointment, for me and for general culture. Anyway, somehow this was the only movie I watched in 2022 that I went into with expectations that were significantly let down, and I figured I’d give it its own multiverse of mediocrity with the myriad of posters available.

Okay I have to bullet point this one so I can talk about all the finalists.

Cate is THE performance of the year for me. Her take on Lydia Tár is nothing short of amazing - even from the opening scene, with that TED Talk-like scene where she just talks about music for a few minutes, had Brendan and me grabbing each other and whispering in the (otherwise empty) theater about how breathtaking her performance was. I can’t believe I’m giving her lead actress two years in a row (out of three total!) but she really does deserve it.

Brendan and I loved Mia Goth in 2020′s Emma, but she reached new heights in X and, in particular, Pearl. The monologue! The face journey! The everything else! She’s now on the We’ll See Anything She’s In list, and I can’t wait for MaXXXine.

Janelle! I don’t have as much to say for her, but damn she picks projects well! Incredible lady and fantastic performance(s) in Glass Onion.

Keke - #ReleaseTheSpinCut! What a joy.

Okay I adore Michelle Yeoh and if Cate doesn’t win the Oscar I hope it’s hers. Truly wonderful and deserves everything good that’s coming her way right now.

During the Ladies Who Lunch sequence of the Company documentary, I must’ve turned to Brendan at least three times to say “I love being gay” - Elaine’s an icon and a queen and I hate I didn’t get into theatre soon enough to appreciate her while she was alive. (NOTE: If I’d started this category a year earlier, Carol Channing certainly would’ve gotten it for the documentary Larger Than Life, and it felt wrong to not mention that here)

The starman legacy is gigantic.

I always knew that the starman legacy was big but never really sat down to just count it you know? So today I did and holy shit it's fucking infinite, like it's not just a bunch of dudes going by starman and associates.

It's more like starman + phantom lady + star-spangled kid + girl of 1000 gimmicks/gimmic girl/gimmix?? + Manhuter + martian manhunter + brainwave + mist.

Here's the list of superheroes and btw this is by legacy and not family ties:

I say only superheroes because a lot of these people have supervillain relatives, it's also interesting to note that this the oldest super powered lineage in DC because Ramsey Robinson is the great-great-grandson of Hugo Munro the protagonist of the 1930 novel called Gladiator (one of the inspirations for superman) by Philip Wylie.
