Next day, Jennifer actually took a day off to visit Kristen and Daniel. She wanted to congratulate them and also make sure her brother is not planning to do anything stupid.
Tumblr media
She kept throwing not-so-subtle comments at him throughout the whole lunch, trying not to expose him to Kristen but letting him know hurting her pregnant friend will not be tolerated.
Tumblr media
Daniel knew there's no exit out of this situation. With Mary-Sue he at least knew Jennifer never liked her, so when things got messed up he could count on his sister's support. But Kristen and Jennifer became absolute besties and as soon as he's mess up, it's over for him.
Tumblr media
Daniel: Look, I don't have any intentions to hurt Kristen. But it's really weird how you're going against me so hard. I'm your brother and you don't even like kids, so why are you so excited for Kristen's pregnancy?
Tumblr media
Jennifer: Because you will not find anyone better than Kristen and for your own good I'm trying to beat some sense into your head. If friendly nudge doesn't work, I have to be more convincing. If you mess things up with her, I will use my position to ruin your ass, brother.

I just don’t get how people can be so mean to some female characters. Like what’s the point of hating on them continuously?
People started calling Kamala crazy and obsessed because she met her idol, she was pretty excited (who wouldn’t BE?!), but when Peter Parker behaved the same way towards Tony everyone was like: “Omg!! He’s such a cute baby🥺🥺 They have a father-son relationship! So cute uwu!”. LIKE???!!!?!
Another example, Starlord singing and dancing in front of the enemy: “Oh my gosh!! So quirky!! Chris Pratt is the best🤣” . Jennifer Walters/SheHulk twerking with Megan Thee Stallion: “Mcu is in shambles” “This is what feminists like” “Cringe”
Again, Jane Foster has been called annoying, bitchy, or USELESS since 2011 (she only an astrophysicist who proved the existence of the einstein-rosen bridge, won a nobel prize, she’s the reason Thor is part of the avengers, and she’s also a cutie, nothing serious.) She was also called evil, you know by who? Fans of the same guy who took New York as hostage killing millions of people, yeah. She’s a bitch because Frigga died defending her, of course!!! It’s not (partially) Loki’s fault for showing the Dark Elves the fastest way out of the cells. (And I’m saying this as a Loki fan)
I could go on and on talking about Riri as the new ironman or Miguel O’Hara fans hating on Spider-Gwen. (OR LITERALLY THE WHOLE INTERNET ISSUE WITH BRIE LARSON/CAPTAIN MARVEL FOR SOME REASON?!!?)
You have all the rights to dislike a character, just don’t be sexist and incoherent, it’s easy. Why would you hate women for the same reason you love those men?

You would think that after all that Brie Larson, Jennifer Lawrence, Daisy Ridley, Kelly Marie Tran and, most recently, Halle Bailey endured, we would’ve learned our lesson. First, you said Rachel wasn’t Latina / Latina enough; then you said she was Latina and therefore she can’t be Snow White.
Y’all spent years criticizing the princesses, – namely Snow White – calling them “weak” and “passive”, saying that young girls shouldn’t aspire to be them and shaming those people that did. Disney heard you and decided “Fine, we’ll give her a more modern update,” and tasked Rachel with playing her.
Now y’all wanna do a complete 180 and want to claim that Snow White is “sacrilege” and was always a beautiful role model. You’re calling on Rachel to quit, calling her ungrateful for her role (nevermind that these photos exists), saying she “ruined the movie” for you, and hoping the movie fails based on an out-of-context 5-second Tiktok clip from a year old video. Disney creatives are the ones who made the decision to portray Snow White this way; Rachel is merely her vessel. What is wrong with y’all?!
Not to mention that y’all have the Audacity™️ to compare her handling of this whole thing to Halle Bailey’s handling of the racist campaigns against her. Rachel doesn’t it to owe to you to handle all of this with grace, by staying quiet and putting on a brave face. This constant barrage of hate and over analyzation of everything she says, does, and thinks is clearly taking a toll on her. (Also, Halle has signaled her support for Rachel, so just try pitting these two against each other again.)
Y’all need to realize that you are bullying a 22 year old for sport and have no shame for it. It’s sickening. I am exhausted from watching female actresses get torn apart on social media, at this point for just existing.
We just had “Barbie” come out – a movie that famously talks about the difficulties of being a woman and how no matter what you do, no matter how hard you work or how hard you try, nothing you do will be ever be enough. Everyone missed the message. I’m disappointed, but shit am I not surprised.

What is a nymph?*
If the female under discussion is not a well recognized goddess, one must decide whether to refer to her as a mortal woman (that is, a heroine), as a nymph, or as a member of some other group. It is, of course, made more tricky by the ambiguity of the term numphê, which can refer not only to the minor female divinities of the wild places but also to any nubile woman or, more commonly, to a bride. Occasionally, a numphê may be a mature, even matronly woman. When applied to a mortal woman, the term points to her status as a sexual being.
Below are enumerated the main criteria of the distinction between heroine and nymph.
Terminology used by ancient sources. Surprisingly often, the Greek sources take the trouble to identify nymphs. More often, the terms naiad and nymph are juxtaposed in order to make the sense unmistakable.
Parentage. Nymphs are described with great frequency as the daughter of Zeus, of Ge, or of various river gods. Acheloös often figures as the father. Heroines, on the other hand, are normally the daughters of heroes. There are exceptions.
Mortality and death narrative. While the ultimate mortality of nymphs was debated among ancient authors, it was clear to the ancient that they enjoyed a superhuman lifespan far outstripping that of mortal men and women. Heroines were all too easily killed. The emphasis on their death is complemented by the focus of heroic cults at what were believed to be the tombs of the heroes and heroines.
Gender restrictions and vulnerability to mortal men. The nymph is a highly ambiguous figure. Though sexually desirable, she is usually free of familial restrictions applied to mortal women and can rarely be fully domesticated. They may be sexually promiscuous, and they often act as the aggressors in ephemeral affairs with mortals. Sometimes these could be deadly to the male. Unlike nymphs, mythological heroines who indulged in promiscuity or violence are usually punished in one fashion or another. Moreover, their narrative often emphasizes their passive availability to men’s use and their vulnerability to male violence.
Role in heroin genealogies and narrative flexibility. The nymph often played a role in local genealogies as the earliest, autochthonous ancestor and provided a link to and an implicit claim upon the land and its resources. This is in contrast to heroines, who may be virgins, wives, or crones, admirable or villainous, and who play detailed roles in the local myths.
Associations with a water source. Nymphs regularly personify and inhabit springs, rivers, and lakes. One of their main mythic and cultic functions is to provide fresh water.
Special functions in relation to gods. While the cult of heroines usually exist within a familial context, so that they are worshipped in conjunction with a husband or son, nymphs are associated with Hermes, Apollo, Pan, the river god Acheloös, and other deities. Their cult organization isn’t analogous to the family but to the relationship between a god and their thiasos or the chorus leader and chorus.
Cultic functions. Comparison here reveals some overlap. The main area of overlap encompasses human fertility, childbirth, and childcare. This kourotrophic function can be further divided into concern for young children and for those approaching adulthood, a group of special interest to the community as future warriors and fertile wives. The participation of nymphs at each stage of this process is well-documented. Heroines may play a similar role, especially when concerns are given a civic focus. There are some divergences. Nymphs, because of their associations with springs, are often healing deities. Though there are several examples of heroes who heal, there is little evidence for heroine healers; this gap can correspond to the societal restraints on female physicians. Another area that nymphs normally don’t share with heroines is that of inspiration, and to a lesser extent, divination.
Physical setting and significance of cult spaces. Heroines’ tombs and shrines, like those of heroes, tend to be strategically located in central spots within the city walls. Sometimes, they are literally focal points of the city. The cult places of nymphs, on the other hand, are as a rule associated with natural features: rivers, caves, and springs. Many, if not most, are rural. Exceptions abound, however. Both nymphs and heroines contribute to the community’s sense of itself in history. Heroines, on the other hand, are more likely to have civic functions of little concern to the nymph (political concern, for example).
Objects commemorating cult. Two votive reliefs with well-developed iconography can be compared: one for heroines and one for nymphs. Sculptural conventions oppose the domestic setting of a banquet for heroic figures with natural settings in caves for nymphs, and familial relationships with “choric” ones.
Other narrative or cultic motifs. Satyrs or silens, herding and pastoralism, caves, trees, bees, and honey are all common motifs in the myths and cult of nymphs.
None of these criteria should be employed alone or applied too rigidly, but taken as a whole they can provide a workable method for us to distinguish nymphs from heroines as well as from various minor goddesses, and they indicate that the Greeks generally did the same. Of course, there are hybrid cases of female figures who exhibit some characteristics of both nymph and heroine; there is no use attempting to force such individuals into one category or the other.

On Sunday, Jennifer wanted to at least try making peace with John for their daughter's sake. She invited him over for lunch, so they could discuss everything. Lucy wasn't thrilled about it, fully expecting some drama to unfold again.
Tumblr media
John really felt out of place in the big city and wished they could have this meeting on a more neutral ground, but he knew inviting Jennifer over to his house was out of the question. Kaylynn already had her hands full with all the babies, she wouldn't feel comfortable hosting John's ex-wife for dinner.
Tumblr media
Before letting John inside, Jennifer had to make some things clear with him. Both of them agreed any fighting is unnecessary at this point. Unfortunate cheating aside, things went well and both of them were happier than ever. The only real victim in all this was Lucy, so they had to show her they're willing to put their differences aside for her.

Outside the walls of Trozen was a sanctuary of Poseidon Phytalmios (of Growth). The legend said that the angry god once inundated the crops with seawater until he yielded to prayers and sacrifices. Overlooking this shrine was a sanctuary of Demeter Thesmophoros, established by Poseidon’s son Althepos. In recognition of his connection with agriculture, the god was offered aparchai, first fruits from the crops. This facet of Poseidon’s personality is unexpected, yet the cult pairing of Poseidon and Demeter is widespread (present in Attica, Argos, Mykonos, and of course, Arkadia). It is likely that Poseidon’s flood was originally a freshwater inundation, for as a god of subterranean forces, he controlled springs and rivers. Having caused a drought at Argos by drying up the springs, he relented and revealed the sources at Lerna to the Danaid Amymone. Aeschylus (Sept. 304–11) names Earth-supporting Poseidon and the rivers, offspring of Tethys, as the deities who pour forth the waters that fructify the earth. Poseidon’s waters nourish the plants, yet too much water just as surely destroys them. Thus Poseidon’s relationship with Demeter was both intimate and adversarial. Argos had a flood legend according to which Poseidon, angry when the land was awarded to Hera, caused an inundation, and the Argive sanctuary of Poseidon Prosklystios (of Surging Water) was located beside that of Pelasgian Demeter.
