drabble day 4: memories
from @deancaskiss bex’s august drabble prompts
for most people, the memory of their significant other saying those three little words for the first time, is a good one.
but not for dean.
“we’re all out of cereal and milk so jack and i are going to pick some up. love you.”
dean’s heart dropped in his chest and he stumbled to where cas was leaning in the doorway, throwing his arms around him and burying his face into cas’s shoulder.
“you’re coming back.”
it wasn’t a question but cas answered anyways.
“of course, dean.” he pulled away a slightly to cup dean’s cheek. “… are you sure you don’t want me to remove the memory?”
dean leaned into cas’s touch and looked back and forth between his eyes. they’d already lost so much.
he shook his head. “i don’t want to lose another second with you.”
cas kissed him softly. “then you won’t. do you want to come with us to the store?”
dean smiled through his tears.
“i’d love to.”

drabble day 8: jealous
from @deancaskiss bex’s august drabble prompts
dean wasn’t sure when it started happening, but lately cas’s wings would materialize out of nowhere. and it always seemed to happen when he was getting hit on.
the female vampire looked dean up and down licking her lips. “i’d love to suck you dry.”
there was a familiar ‘fwuff’ sound as one of cas’s huge dark wings was suddenly arching over dean’s head, cas practically growling next to him.
“easy, cas,” dean warned.
the vampire’s eyebrows rose, “oh i didn’t realize he was your plaything, feathers. but i’m still gonna enjoy this meal.” she winked.
before dean could blink, cas had lunged forwards and taken her out. completely silent and lethal. blood slowly dripping off his angel blade.
dean adjusted his pants. he shouldn’t be so turned on but goddamn that was hot.
he patted cas’s shoulder as they made their way back to the car. “you know you don’t have to be jealous, angel. you’re the only one for me.”
cas ducked his head to hide his blush but his wings betrayed his true feelings as they puffed up in pleasure.

drabble day 3: strangers
from @deancaskiss bex’s august drabble prompts
as dean watched the strangers pass them by on the pier, he wondered what they thought when they saw he and cas on the bench, sitting close, holding hands.
did they see a normal couple? who’d probably met at a bar, or through friends. a couple who’d gone on cheesy first dates before deciding to give it a go. people who had quiet lives, taken up by work and friends.
he turned to take in cas’s profile, as he tilted his head happily toward the sun. surely they didn’t see the truth. they didn’t see a fallen angel next to a monster hunter. a couple who’d literally been to hell and back. who’d lost each other more times than he could bear.
he squeezed cas’s hand at the thought.
cas turned to him, concern in his eyes. “what’s wrong, dean?”
dean brought cas’s hand to his chest and stroked his thumb over his knuckles.
he didn’t want normal. “i’d always pick you.”
cas’s lips tipped in a soft smile.
“and i you.”

drabble day 2: beach
from @deancaskiss bex’s august drabble prompts
jack and sam were building a sand castle. well, sand fortress might be a more apt description, dean supposed, given the sheer scale of their creation.
cas was sifting sand through his fist, the grains shimmering as they flowed into a pile near the edge of their blanket. dean shifted closer to him and asked, “what makes it white?”
“on this beach, mainly quartz,” cas replied, grabbing another handful to examine. “but large amounts of broken up shells can also make a beach appear white.”
“what about black beaches?” dean moved closer still and rested his head on cas’s shoulder.
“volcanic rock.”
“red beaches?”
“iron oxide.”
dean lifted his head at that. “iron oxide… there are beaches made of rust?”
“mhmm.”
“huh.” dean sprawled out on the blanket and laid his head on cas’s warm firm thigh. “what else is this beach made of?”
“well, there’s some feldspar, and biotite mica…”
cas’s words faded as dean closed his eyes and let the comforting rumble of his voice wash over him, weaving between the roar of the waves, the faint cry of gulls in the distance, and the sound of jack laughing. he smiled to himself as he felt cas’s fingers run absentmindedly through his hair. he didn’t think he’d ever felt more at peace.

drabble day 6: rendezvous
from @deancaskiss bex’s august drabble prompts
dean hated being back in purgatory. he was at the rendezvous point and searching the trees for any sign of cas returning. but the woods were deathly quiet.
the grey surrounding him seemed to pull all feeling from his extremities, numbness creeping ever deeper. time stretched strangely and dean started to get more anxious, his breath catching in his chest. he checked his arm, but there was no watch. why hadn’t he worn his watch?
the sinking feeling in his gut grew, and he knew, he just knew that something was wrong. it had been too long.
“no no no, please, not again. i can’t lose you again.” dean jogged the perimeter of the clearing calling cas’s name as loud as he dared, worried about attracting unwanted attention.
cas, please be ok. i can’t do this without you, please… he prayed steadily as the trees blurred from the tears in his eyes.
“dean.”
he swung around at the sound of cas’s voice but he was no where to be seen.
throwing all care to the wind he screamed, “cas!”
“dean, i’m right here.”
blinking, suddenly there was cas. the dark of their bedroom surrounded them, and cas’s hand was stroking over his jaw.
“it’s ok. i’m here, dean.”
dean sobbed and threw himself into cas’s chest, relishing the feeling of cas’s arms wrapping tight around him. “i was so scared i lost you again.”
cas pressed a kiss to dean’s forehead.
“i’m not going anywhere.”

drabble day 5: kiss
from @deancaskiss bex’s august drabble prompts
dean was eyeing the pile of hersey’s kisses that jack had left on the library table. he was usually more of a gummy man, but he was really craving something sweet. since cas was sitting closer to them, he flipped his fingers at him and said, “gimme a kiss.”
cas didn’t move.
dean looked up to see cas staring at him with wide eyes. “are you sure?”
dean scoffed. “ya, i’m sure.”
cas leaned in closer and before dean could think to move, cas was kissing him.
when cas pulled away, dean felt like he couldn’t breathe. “… i- uh- meant one of the chocolates.”
cas looked at the pile, his cheeks flushing pink. “oh.” he slid one of the kisses across the table to dean.
dean just stared at it. “… i’d actually like to try one of yours again.”
before he could second guess himself, he kissed cas firmly and thoroughly, feeling him melt under his touch.
pulling away slowly, dean sighed happily. “yup. i was right. better than chocolate.”

drabble day 1: summer
from @deancaskiss bex’s august drabble prompts
summer used to mean long night drives to avoid the intense heat of the day, followed by fitful sleeps in humid motels while ancient AC units sputtered away. it used to mean sweat dripping down his back and never feeling fully comfortable in his sticky skin, the cold from a morning’s shower never lasting quite long enough.
but it was entirely different now. dean couldn’t keep the smile from his face as he watched cas’s eyelashes flutter softly as he slept next to him. his face lit by the orange glow of the morning sun reflecting off the azalea bush cas had planted outside their bedroom window. the fan in the corner blew a light breeze across the linen sheet over them; cas had insisted that it was the best fabric for summer when dean had had a miniature heart attack over the price. but of course, cas had been right.
sighing happily, dean started planning the day in his head. he’d make breakfast and maybe they could eat outside, enjoying the cool morning air before he helped cas in the garden. then once they got too warm, they’d jump into the lake from the dock dean had just finished building, letting the clear, cool water refresh them.
the glow of the sunlight shining in through the window matched the bright feeling in dean’s chest. he never thought he’d have this, but he was so very glad he did now.
cas wrinkled his nose and opened his eyes to look at dean, the blue of them set off against the warm tones of the morning light.
“morning sunshine,” dean rolled over to face him.
“why do you call me that?”
dean leaned in to press a soft kiss to cas’s lips and stayed close, stroking his fingers over the rough stubble on his cheeks.
“because you light up my life.”

drabble day 12: date
from @deancaskiss bex’s august drabble prompts
“but tonight was supposed to be date night,” dean grumbled.
“you have a cold. you’re staying in bed.” cas tucked him in tighter. “and we could just have it here.”
dean scoffed. “it’s not the same.”
“oh?” cas raised his brows. “close your eyes and give me two minutes.”
dean rolled his eyes, but closed them obediently.
there was a ‘whuff’ as cas flew off, and true to his word, two minutes later he returned. “ok, you can open them.”
dean looked around to see lit candles all over his desk and the shelves around the room. cas was standing next to the bed with takeout containers of what smelled like his favourite soup in one hand and a bouquet of wildflowers in the other.
he knew he was doing a terrible job of hiding his blush as he accepted the flowers. no one had ever given him flowers before. ever thought that he deserved something pretty.
as they were curled up in bed with his laptop playing when harry met sally, dean leaned over and kissed cas’s cheek. “turns out having an angel boyfriend is pretty cool.”
cas made a soft pleased noise.
“eat your soup, dean.”
written with my friends with covid in mind
@regardingjenmish and @nicolegendary i hope you’re not feeling too terrible and have a cas to bring you soup!!💖💖💖

drabble day 9: magic
from @deancaskiss bex’s august drabble prompts
dean loved when cas healed him. the sensation of all his aches and pains fading away was simply magical. it was warmth sinking through his veins like a hot drink on a cold day, it was comforting like one of cas’s full wrap hugs.
he’d never told anyone that he remembered a bit of his rise from perdition. he obviously hadn’t known it was cas at the time, but he remembered feeling the faintest brushing of feathers all over, surrounding him, holding him, caressing him. keeping him cozy. safe. loved. in a way that he hadn’t felt since he was very small.
he felt an echo of that every time cas healed him.
it never lasted long enough, and dean always found himself leaning after cas’s touch. desperate for a care that had been so scarce in his life. a care he often didn’t think he deserved.
but he allowed it from cas.
cas was his exception.

drabble day 14: roadtrip
from @deancaskiss bex’s august drabble prompts
roadtrips used to be so common, they didn’t even warrant the name. they were just part of the job. driving for hours on too little sleep, food scrounged from gas stations, and the tedium of endless highways. all to end up in a middle of nowhere town, to gank some creature, which may or may not deserve it.
it had seemed inescapable.
and yet, here he was. reclining in the back seat for once. trusting sam to drive, while eileen fed him baby carrots at regular intervals. jack sat between he and cas, playing some game on his switch. his arm draped over the back of the seat so he could rest his hand on cas’s shoulder, fingers stretching to play along the side of his neck absently.
they were making excellent time to reach their campsite in the redwoods by the afternoon and dean was looking forward to jumping in the nearby river to cool off. though he was looking forward to seeing cas in his swim trunks even more.
he tapped the side of cas’s neck to get his attention before flipping him the sign for ‘i love you’ with his other hand. he loved being able to say things without actually saying them. it was almost like praying. cas smiled softly and turned his head to press kisses to dean’s fingers.
sighing happily, he slouched further down to shut his eyes, the sunlight streaming in the window soaked into his clothes and made him warm and sleepy. cas had leaned over so dean could tangle his fingers in his hair and he let the contentment of being surrounded by those he loved, pull him into a peaceful nap.
he might be on the road, but he was also home.

drabble day 13: sunset
from @deancaskiss bex’s august drabble prompts
watching as the last of the sunlight worked it’s way across the clouds resting above the horizon, dean felt unsettled. cas was next to him on baby’s hood, the glow of the sunset outlining him in gold. a gilded halo.
the tightness in his gut became too much and he spoke.
“you must have seen a million of these.”
“yes.”
the sensation got worse.
“surely you must be bored of them by now.”
cas tipped his head thoughtfully. “no. each is unique.”
dean bit his lip. “do you have a favourite?”
turning to look at him, cas squinted and dean wondered if he’d been caught out.
“this one.”
dean scoffed. “it isn’t even that great.”
“it isn’t simply about looks. it’s about how it makes you feel.”
dean’s breath caught. “how does it make you feel?”
reaching out, cas’s fingers brushed over dean’s cheekbone and he felt frozen in place under his considering gaze. “we’re not talking about sunsets are we?”
dean choked out, “no?” he felt like he was drowning in cas’s eyes.
cas leaned in further, his hand cupping dean’s jaw so tenderly. “it makes me feel…” he glanced at dean’s lips and dean didn’t dare breathe. “in love.”
gripping cas’s wrist to anchor himself, dean gasped, “really?”
cas nodded. “and you, dean?”
he’d barely finished speaking as dean blurted out, “the same,” and surged forwards to capture cas’s lips with his own.
the sunset continued on, completely unnoticed.

drabble day 11: trust
from @deancaskiss bex’s august drabble prompts
“did it look like jack would have a good time?”
dean remembered jack’s huge grin as he had dropped him off at the summer camp. “oh ya. it was all three legged races and trust falls.”
cas squinted at him. “trust falls?”
“ya, you know.” dean gestured nonsensically. “you fall backwards and someone catches you.”
“for what purpose?”
“uh… i guess building trust. knowing that even if you fall, the other person is going to catch you?”
dean watched as cas smiled softly. “ah. i’m familiar with that idea.”
cold guilt seeped into dean’s chest. “cas… you know i’m sorry that you fell-”
cas stopped him by touching his arm with a squeeze. the warmth in his gaze thawed every part of him.
“don’t be sorry, dean. you caught me.”

drabble day 7: thunderstorm
from @deancaskiss bex’s august drabble prompts
dean leaned against the railing outside the motel room and took a deep breath of the fresh petrichor in the air as lightning forked across the sky in the distance.
“smells like cas.”
sam gave him a weird look.
“what?” dean rubbed at his neck. “you must have noticed that before.”
sam shook his head. “actually, i always thought he was weird because he doesn’t smell like anything.”
dean found cas in the library back at the bunker and slid into the seat across from him.
“so, i’ve always thought you smelled like a thunderstorm. but apparently sam doesn’t think you smell at all? that’s weird, right?”
cas looked up from his book with wide eyes, and dean thought he might even be blushing.
“you can smell me?”
dean waved his hand, “don’t worry man, it’s not a bad smell. it’s nice actually.”
“you’re sure?”
“ya.” cas still looked freaked. “… why? it that bad?”
“no.”
dean huffed. “what’s it mean, cas?”
cas bit his lip and fiddled with his book. “only an angel’s true-mate can smell them.”
“their what now?”

drabble day 10: fire
from @deancaskiss bex’s august drabble prompts
fire was loss.
it consumed and stole away, leaving empty hands and the taste of ash in his mouth. leaving him alone. always alone.
it filled his dreams as a constant reminder. that no one was safe. that it was easier to build walls than tempt fate.
but as he looked into the flames, he thought that maybe things could be different now. the flickering light dancing across the smiling faces of his family, providing light and warmth.
jack’s marshmallow fell into the fire with a sizzle, eileen laughed and helped him put another on his stick. sam’s got too close and started burning, he yelped and hurriedly tried to blow it out.
dean smiled and squeezed cas’s hand, letting his thumb stroke over cas’s gently. cas was proudly inspecting his own perfectly toasted marshmallow.
he leaned over and whispered in cas’s ear, “i love you.”
cas turned to him with soft eyes. “i love you too. but you’re not getting my marshmallow.”

excerpt:
Castiel came back to the car and sat in the front seat again. “Sam will just be a moment.”
Dean shrugged. “Ok.” He picked at the side of his thumb. “He seems pretty upset.”
Castiel turned in his seat so he was facing towards Dean again and stared. Dean felt like he was deciding what to say, so he waited.
Finally he spoke, “You and Sam are close. You’re very important to each other.”
Dean nodded to himself. “Ya, I guess I wouldn’t be too happy if my own brother forgot who I was.” He glanced up at Castiel, wondering… “Are we important to each other too?”
Castiel’s eyes widened slightly and he stared some more. He opened his mouth once but then shut it again.
Dean cocked his head and smiled to himself. He thought he might have figured out why Sam had hesitated to call Castiel his friend and why Castiel himself was now tongue tied. But he decided to keep it to himself for now.
--
outline:
dean gets hurt during a hunt and wakes up in the hospital not remembering anything. not his name, not sam, nothing.
sam decides that they shouldn't tell dean about the hunting/the supernatural, etc, and makes cas promise he won't either.
dean assumes that he and cas are dating but that sam and cas didn't want to make him feel awkward about not remembering it. there are also a ton of little things that are different about dean because he doesn't have any memories of hunting or growing up with john. it bothers sam a lot because he feels like this man isn't dean.
dean asks cas about if they're dating, cas says no, dean still doesn't believe him and they decide to just do what they want, which is obviously make out and be boyfriends.
sam feels weird about the whole thing but he and dean talk it out.
dean starts having dreams that he doesn't know are memories. of hell, and hunting. he tells cas about them and wonders at where his mind would get such awful ideas. cas feels terrible but doesn't say anything. but they have a big emotional talk about who dean is at heart and what bearing his memories have on that. it's so mushy, just you wait.
they go on a road trip to the beach. it's fun and lighthearted, but dean can tell from how sam and cas are acting that this isn't normal for them. dean asks cas to help him remember this feeling when he finally does get his memories back, because he doesn't want to lose this, or him.
dean eventually does remember and has a major breakdown over it. goes for a long drive and cries.
then comes back to the bunker and has a huge emotional reunion with cas and sam!! literally ALL the feels

CHRISTMAS! MOVIE! AU!!!!!! HOLY SHIT WAIT ALSO BRIDGERTON AU!!
ahhh renu thank you for asking!!! i'm gonna put bridgerton under a read more or else this ask is gonna be REAL long lol
--
christmas movie au excerpt:
They came in to find Anna and Jack sipping from mugs on the couch and the whole house smelt of hot chocolate. “You read my mind, Anna. I was thinking we needed a hot beverage.”
“Great minds think alike,” she quipped in return.
“Marshmallows too?” Dean asked.
“It wouldn’t be hot chocolate without marshmallows,” Anna frowned jokingly. “We’re not heathens here, are we Jack?”
“We have big ones and small ones,” Jack nodded seriously.
“That’s what I like to hear,” Dean grinned at Jack.
Castiel found Anna had already set out two mugs for them on the counter. He poured hot chocolate from the pot on the stove into the mugs as equally as he could and turned to find Dean waiting next to him. He was so close that his arm was brushing against Castiel’s and his warmth was apparent even though his thick sweater. Castiel could smell a fresh pine scent with a hint of something warmer and spicier - he felt his cheeks flush. Dean smelt even better than the hot chocolate. Dean’s eyes crinkled at the edges, “You okay Cas?”
He’d frozen again. “Uh, yes.” He put the pot down hurriedly and gestured towards the two bowls of different sized marshmallows. “Big or small?”
Dean glanced at him, “Which ones do you like?”
Castiel frowned. He had no idea why Dean was asking him for his opinion. “Um… I like the small ones. The big ones take too long to melt and with the small ones - the ratio of marshmallow to hot chocolate as you’re drinking is better.”
Dean let out a small breath of a laugh. “Small it is then. Can’t argue with logic.”
Their hands brushed lightly as they both reached into the bowl at the same time and Castiel almost dropped his marshmallows all over the counter.
--
outline:
christmas movie au is based on my generic version of a lifetime christmas movie.
cas works for his family's company in the big city and doesn't enjoy it. on a whim he decides to spend christmas with his sister anna and her son jack in the small mountain town they live in.
he helps them get ready for the holidays and in the process meets dean the handsome christmas tree farmer. anna mentions that they had a thing once and cas is disappointed that dean is straight.
they keep running into each other all over town, dean saving cas from various debacles. cas starts crushing on dean.
then a snow storm hits and cas's car gets stuck while he's out and about. hypothermia is just setting in when dean rescues him and brings him home to his cabin.
they weather the storm together by the fire and get to know each other better. he invites dean and sam to spend christmas at anna's with them.
on christmas, gabriel joins in the festivities too. dean and cas end up under the mistletoe and dean kisses him. cas is shocked. has a bit of a crisis stemming from past trauma. dean gets upset and leaves.
sam and gabe both talk to cas and help him work through his issues. but cas is still scared. he ends up going back to the city only to realize that it's not where he wants to be anymore.
then yayyy he goes back to be with dean!!
i'm REALLY close to finishing this one. hoping to post for this winter season coming up!!

bridgerton au under the cut
bridgerton au excerpt:
As they walked back into the party with his hand on the Duke’s arm, Castiel could feel everyone’s eyes on them. Mostly surprise and curiosity, with a few glares thrown in from the ladies he had seen surrounding the Duke earlier. They made their way to the dance floor and Castiel felt at a loss for what to do. It was as though every dance step had left his mind. “Stare into my eyes,” the Duke’s voice interrupted his thoughts.  He looked up and found the Duke smiling softly at him. The picture of an interested lover. Clearly, the Duke was a better actor than he had anticipated. Castiel hoped he would be able to keep up his end of the facade. “Here,” he held out his gloved hand and Castiel took it. The Duke pulled him in, “Closer.” His whisper was warm in Castiel's ear, “If this is to work, we must appear madly in love.” Castiel felt a strange flutter in his stomach.
They began to dance and it was all very easy. Their feet flowed across the floor and the Duke’s green eyes looked at him adoringly the entire time. Castiel felt himself blushing but did not hide it. It would play perfectly into their scheme. If he enjoyed himself while they were playing pretend, well, where was the harm in that?
--
outline:
honestly it basically just follows the storyline of s1 of the show. with slight changes to account for who's related to who and to fit with the spn characters we know.
i'm not 100% if i'll finish this one, or if i do end up working on it more, i think i'll have to redo a lot of it. right now it's too similar to the show and i don't like au's to essentially be the same but with character names changed. but i LOVE a good period piece so maybe when the mood strikes me i'll get back into this one!
