I was originally just going to leave it as only the first panel, but then I remembered that one bit on the painful where it’s explained that time is apparently very messed up (with day that last forever and nights that only last a couple of hours). so that got me thinking “do the stations even change?” “do people know what month they’re in, or even what year they’re in? do they even know if they have aged at all????” soooo yeah, is it really october yet?

Death Row Diner (1988)

The VHS Shot on video ultimately trash garbage horror comedy that started my addiction at a very confused young age.   That sentence alone is all you really need to know to understand why every year I need to relive this movie and why I may screen at my next bad movie night this movie either from my vhs tape or just a shit blown out digital transfer, just so more people can take a stroll in what makes my brain tick. 

Here is what I wrote about it in my first book on bad movies.

“ Another VHS tape that legends are made of. Camp Motion Pictures, the pioneers of selling shot on video home made horror movies to the masses, hit a low even for them (so of course its one of my favorites). Michelle Bauer stars in a near inaudible meta movie about a movie production about a Hollywood producer killed in the electric chair. Well as luck would have it, his ghost comes back to the haunt the film crew and he wants to eat them all. Otis the ghost is fat, gross and as he often says he's hungry. This VHS tape is famous for having extra space at the end of the movie so often random secret things were added on to the end of it by Camp Motion Pictures. You would sometimes see the end of other movies that they had taped over to save money with used tapes. Stories of hardcore gay porn have often been told but on my personal copy I have a bonus half hour of Women's All American Oiled Up Arm Wrestling. You should see the mullets on these bikini-clad amazons. “

I am often more interested in the shittiness and just the legends behind this vhs tape more than the actual film or “story” it’s self, cause well basically it’s stupid as well. But I do enjoy this moronic comedy for just how stupid it dares to be. Filmed like a cable access episode of Jerkbeast with the simplest gore gags you will ever see. It feels like its purposefully just showing you all the basic how to gore make up tricks that you can do at home to scare your siblings. That would be if this movie was at all kids as the humor is pretty rude and offensive to most groups. Funny how mature comedy is usually pretty immature. The random murder of a foil covered parking attendant and the Elvis impersonator with bad diarrhea are as equally confusing if not pointless as they are entertaining. Is it avantegarde or just stupid? Probably just stupid but of course I love it. Pure fun garbage that you don’t need your mother to watch. If you and your mom watch it together I fear you and your mom have a very weird relationship. 

This is one of my favorite pieces of trash ever so I needed it to live again in 2020. Live OTIS... FEED OTIS... Fart Otis... Thank you Otis. 

Come on AGFA remaster this I fucking dare you.

Maybe it will be super remastered when it has it’s actual 40th anniversary, just like when Otis came back from the dead. Dun dun dunnn
