What’s a scene from one of your WIPs that you’re most excited about? Is there a trope, character interaction, plot point, etc that makes it your favorite?

there's a scene in the seventh year of my hoa hogwarts au (that isn't even published yet, so this'll be vague lmao) where joy and jerome finally have this really intense talk. it comes after a break in the mystery, so there's a lot at stake even if they didn't have a history at this point. there's no trope or specific plot point (out of the many involved in this scene) that makes this so exciting. it's truly just joy and jerome talking and i love it.

there's a scene in sixth year where i’ve written a shit ton of dialogue that i'm proud of, but this is a real dialogue-heavy scene that's not even finished yet that i just love. i normally don't have extremely long, back-and-forth dialogue like this, but it's realistic. it also makes me think of @darwinquark's AMAZING jeronica fic those kind of friends. she crafts the most realistic, back-and-forth dialogue i have ever seen period. so i'm proud of this reminding me of anything even remotely similar to her fics.

overall, they say everything they've been holding in. they talk about similar trauma, how to trust each other, this one instance they've been avoiding for a really long time, and character study-esque snippets. i love it.

I don't have another just jughead-focused fic but I do have a jeronica timeloop fic I've been working on :) it's told form his pov and takes place during the jughead paradox, in a universe where archie does kill him and it causes him to keep repeating the day until he and veronica finally get it right. here's a small scene from that :)

"We've had this conversation before." Jughead says, the memory suddenly flooding back to him. "You're about to raise your glass and say, 'Here's to Vughead becoming canon'."

Veronica frowns, raising an eyebrow. "So, let me get this straight. First you tell me that we need to make out to save the universe, and now you're telling me that we've already done it?"

"Yes and no, not entirely. We've had this conversation before, but we never got far enough along to actually go through with this."

Veronica takes a sip from her glass, confusion and frustration evident on her face. "And why is that?"

"Because we died before we could." "Because Archie killed us." hangs on the tip of his tongue, but he opts against saying it.

Veronica nods. "Sure, Jughead, maybe that's true, but there's still a massive flaw in your theory. We're not dead."

"That's the thing, though. People in Rivervale don't stay dead. Archie died and came back. Toni died and came back. We died and came back."

Jughead stands up and takes a step towards Veronica. "I'm serious about this. If we're gonna go through with this plan then we both have to be careful."

Veronica sighs. "You know what, fuck it. Sure, I'll kiss you to keep the universe from collapsing. Here's to not dying a second time."

She raises her glass in cheers, before downing her drink in one go.

hello, hello i am extremely new to riverdale (and jeronica) and while i may have devoured your story in approximately five seconds flat, i noticed it's the only one you have for the pair. do you have any other favorite authors/works for these two? pls help i'm in so deep

embarrassingly late answering this, I'm so sorry! I'm a crappy person to ask this unfortunately because I got into jeronica fic super early on and haven't had a lot of time for keeping up with newer fics (try and put that time into writing), so all my recs are on the older side! but a few of my oldie but goodie faves:

(honestly, anything by @thefudge is going to be 100/10 but that's my personal favorite, aside from her cursed colemila series which is one of my absolute favorite things in all its sticky, messy glory)

(finalfrontierpioneer in general writes such fun, lighthearted AUs and I feel like she writes such an authentic teen boy Jughead without the piles of angst/broodiness the rest of us tend to give him - she has an iceskating one that's super cute and also one where Ethel's crush on Jughead starts making Veronica see him in a different light that I really enjoyed, but the halloween one is still my fave for some reason, maybe because of himbo Archie)

honesty haven't read this in a WHILE but I just remember it being really satisfying/crisply written and true to their season one characters

very much an AU (heathers-inspired) but I love me some messy mean girl Veronica and bitchy loner Jughead, and the atmosphere/vibes of this AU are dark/fucked up and fun at the same time, which is such a tough combo to pull off (especially in jeronica fic, where I feel like people either go full angst or full fluff). really can't go wrong though with anything by @alicuntisms!

not only CANON but possibly ENDGAME jeronica. how do you feel? honestly, i always knew they'd be great together but i never thought the writers would have the courage. (i remember you used to write them and i loved (i still love) your writing)

i literally do not have any fucking words to describe how i feel tbh. like. i cannot believe that we're here!?!?!?! they're canon?!?!?!?!?!? the show may very well end with them still as a couple?!?!?!?!?!? like. to go from literally crumbs to this full course feast would be fucking whiplash if i actually still kept up with the show. ugh. i also love the way their arc has unfolded because it really does work with them in any timeline, in any universe. this is how they would fall in love every time regardless if it's 1950 or 2017, you know? i am just. overwhelmed.

(my beloved jeronica fics! thank you so much! i've orphaned a couple of them but the heathers au remains like my favorite fic that i've ever written ever. i make no promise but i can see myself coming back to them. i already have plans to binge the entire show once its on netflix with the bestie and if that doesn't get the fic gears turning, i don't know what will. lol.)

Aemond/Luke is THE most unlikely out of all the ships for exactly the reasons you outlined. Imagine becoming permanently disabled because of someone and then forgiving them? Betraying your mother, the only person who cares about your pain for the person who maimed you? Not in a million years would Aemond do such a thing-

Listen, if you ship it, that's your thing, live your life, I too have liked many an unpopular ship in my time (you are currently looking at someone who is forever bitter that Dair broke up and that Jeronica will never be canon). But a lot of the content for that ship hinges on Aemond either somehow already being over something we know he's not over, to the point where his idea of restitution is the exact same thing that his mother said would be adequate restitution back when the event happened because it was such a formative moment for him at such a young age.

There's a way to make it work, if that's your thing, but you need to put in the effort to make it work, and I haven't seen a lot of people do that. There's a common scenario that's just "Luke agrees to stab out his eye and Aemond suddenly realizes it was bad and pledges his sword to Rhaenyra" or something and it's just.......Would he tho? Would he think it's bad? Or would he decide that justice has been served and go on his way and leave Luke's healing to his own people? A lot of the shippers also tend to be Team Blacks (again, fair and valid and etc) so there's not much of an impetus to reconcile the idea that Aemond has to forgive someone who has never shown any remorse or guilt and hasn't tried to give any restitution or atonement towards Aemond for what happened, which makes the whole thing hard to reconcile.

And just, nah Aemond isn't betraying his fam any time soon. He's way too attached to his mother and it's clear that he loves his siblings enough to go to bat for them (well, loves Aegon enough, they've given Helaena next to nothing and Daeron is error 404 right now). I'm all for AUs and canon divergence and all that, but that doesn't necessarily mean I gotta like it or think it's good storytelling.

Jeronica Fic #AU Stonewall Prep idea/Concept

Slight season 1 change being that Veronica didn't go to Riverdale High and make friends with Betty and Archie.

Veronica instead got sent to Stonewall Prep. But she still wanted to be different than the other rich kids she immensely bored around.

Until Jughead and Moose come to Stonewall. She takes an interest in Jughead. [He can either be with Betty or he can be single. Either works.] And she decides to help him with the Stonewall Four mystery. And which allows them also get to know each other.

Now of course the bonding can go from near kisses to actual ones. And depending on if he's with Betty or not will depend on how the actions would be perceived. But either way, if he's with Betty it ends the relationship or Veronica and Jughead deal with their feelings.

He can still fake his death but maybe they decide to set Veronica up as the fall guy instead with the change in gfs per say.

And Veronica continues to help him. Visiting him any chance she can while he's in the bunker. Allows them to have feelings conversations and such.

Then of course the happy ending. Betty and Archie can get together. And of course, Jughead and Veronica start officially dating.

i could write it is set to be 10 chapters right now like. firmly enough im gonna update the chapter count to that once chapter 8 is done which probs wont be for a week because i have been travelling but. there will probs be a one shot or two for that universe though, for beronica and maybe donnadrake, and then im gonna move on to my heathers au wip as my main focus cuz that is gonna be a big fic too probably, idk how long but. id guess as long or longer than i could write it. i was gonna wait to publish til i had it done but i might just start releasing 5-10k length chapters whenever im done with i could write it because i already have 3kish written the plot outlined. that one will be like. vughead/jeronica focused with past jarchie but mostly a veronica character study, possibly some background/implied cheronica and beronica but even less than the jarchie which is also minor. it will be insane and i am very excited for it to see the light of day

If riverdale ends with everyone ending up in a new version of the town where they’ve succeeded in “bending towards justice”, erasing everything from the previous seasons so they can all live happily in new!Riverdale, would that be a satisfying ending for you? It certainly won’t for me, but unfortunately that seems to be the direction we’re headed… and I don’t like it :/ invalidating the first 6 seasons of your show makes the entire show pointless.

This whole season lowkey feels like a waste so far - there’s no plot progression! All we’re doing is slogging through things we as the audience already know (I don’t need to see why Varchie doesn’t work for the 80 billionth time, or watch Kevin struggle to come out when he’s always been out and proud, or watch Cheryl torture herself by being with Archie when we all know she’s a lesbian). Why bother investing in these new relationships like Kevin & Clay, Jeronica, or Cheryl & Toni if none of this is going to matter… unless it is going to matter beyond the 50’s, in which case the previous 6 seasons get thrown out the window and we disregard everything these characters have gone through, their lives and families, and all of their development. Making the last season of your show an AU is just a godawful choice. It’s fun for maybe an episode or two, but it certainly shouldn’t be more than half the season! We’re only 3 episodes in and it’s already tired, laughably irrelevant, and blatantly mocking fans and the relationships we’ve all come to love.

I like the idea of the characters in the '50s (most of them at least) not being weighed down by the pain and the trauma of the last six seasons. But you are right, that works when it is something like Rivervale for a few episodes. It doesn't hit the same way in the final season — especially when it looks like most of it will be set in the '50s.

The only way I feel like it won't fall flat for me is if they return to the present day with their memories. Specifically, though, I think they would need to regain their memories in the '50s and spend a good chunk of time in the know before they get to the present vs too much time as these new versions of themselves.

I think in an ideal world this '50s storyline could be compelling if it shapes the characters we already spent so much time with. Like if Betty and Archie still find their way back to one another proving that they are meant to be in any universe. Or Cheryl and Toni getting their happily ever after which helps them get back together in the present without all the big obstacles still at play.

Long story short, I do agree with all of your points. We have only seen 3 episodes out of 20 but it feels too ambitious for a season that needs to wrap things up. The only thing from the '50s that we actually need (in my opinion) is Clay. Take him and leave everything else.

A couple things first, the descriptions on each song are just an outline as to whats happening in that moment/what the song calls for. Also, this is like a story, so its not really something you can play on shuffle lol. I’m confident you didn’t really need these “instructions” lmao, just want you to have a bomb-ass jeronica experience XDD

Jughead and Veronica’s moments of glee when they finally set up a date with each other. Veronica squeals and jumps up and down, Jughead punches the air, they both fall down on the bed with blissful looks on their faces. Two cinnamon rolls.

“So, I’ll call you tonight?”

“Yes! *Too enthusiastic- calm down Veronica* Yes. Call me tonight.”

Just Like a Movie-

Jughead calls this their theme song one day when they’re just hanging out in the student lounge as a joke.

Veronica calls this Jughead’s theme song in response, they have a good laugh and Jughead rolls his eyes at the lyrics A LOT.

Jughead calls this Veronica’s theme song- because she’s “oUt oF tHiS worLD!”.

She smacks his arm for being so cheesy.

Good Morning-

The morning after they do the “horizontal tango” with each other for the first time, they dance in Veronica’s kitchen, knowing all the words- only to be interrupted by an amused Hermione Lodge.

Unforgettable-

Their first Christmas together, spent snowed in at The Pembrooke. But honestly, they don’t mind.

Shake it out-

Jughead and Veronica cry together after her parents blackmail them/force them to break up. #parentssuck.

Coping with the breakup, newsflash- they aren’t, or when they are... they don’t go the healthiest route. So. Much. Angst.

Veronica changes up her style a little bit, which really is just lower cut tops, just trying to forget about Jughead- does a lil sexy performance singing to this at a pep rally.

After some hOrIzOnTaL TaNGo at Sweetwater River, they admit that they can’t keep away from each other, saying that they love each other for the first time- followed by Veronica crying tears of joy cuz she’s never done that before- and that they’re going to work everything out, together. They just hold each other after that.

“I love you, Princess.”

Veronica props herself on her elbow to face him (they were laying down before)

Jughead sees her widened eyes. “Y-you don’t have to say it back, I know its ha-“

“I love you too, Jug”

You and I-

Montage of working at Pop’s for summer, ending with a jam sesh in Jughead’s trailer- Veronica just in his shirt and Jughead just in his sweats. FP comes in, surprised to see Veronica, but welcomes her easily. FP and Veronica bond, and he embarrasses Jug with some baby photos. While Jug’s probably beet-red, he can’t help but completely oggle at Veronica- happy that they don’t have to hide from his dad anymore.

Start a Riot-

Jeronica send a little message to Hiram through security cameras (they just make out lmao), showing that he can’t keep them apart. They then proceed to trash Hiram’s jingle jangle lab. :)

Moon River-

Slow dancing after having been crowned homecoming King and Queen. And of course, because Veronica is 1/2 of this relationship- this becomes their song.

“That’s us.”

“What do you mean?” Veronica asks, confused.

“The two drifters in the song. ‘Two drifters, off to see the world.’ That’s us”

Veronica’s eyes start to gloss.

“I absolutely love that. And you.”

Teenagers-

Being the badass power couple they are, being 100% team Serpent against the Bulldogs during the riots. Its all one long shot too- no cuts :))

A Sunday Kind of Love-

Looking at each other in slow motion (wow- I really love putting stuff in slow motion) when Veronica is officially named Serpent queen, they’re absolutely smitten with each other. Cut to them dancing in the Wyrm to the song, discussing how they’re going to make their big debut as Riverdale’s resident power couple… second to Choni of course.

“So… now that I’m your queen, I was thinking had a debut of sorts. Just to educate the public of this new order.” Veronica jabs, only kind of joking.

Jughead laughs, but it sounds more of a huff.

“Could you settle for a hand-in-hand entrance at school? Or would you be more comfortable with a red carpet event?”

Glory-

Veronica and Jughead walking into school as Serpent Royalty with matching Serpent jackets- no special colours thank you very much. You can bet your ass its in slow motion.

Worlds Apart-

Veronica crying at Jughead’s bed-side after the Ghoulies fuck him up.

Boss Bitch-

Veronica gets revenge on the Ghoulies and Penny Peabody with the help of the female Serpents, the River vixens, Hermione, Betty, and Alice.

Le Symbolique-

Veronica and Jughead reunite from his state of unconsciousness, this whole sequence is in slow motion, with a lot of white lighting/glare. Jughead almost died and just that thought alone KILLED Veronica.

“Jug I was so scared-“

“Shush Ronnie, let me look at you.” His teary eyes trace over Veronica’s face with a beaming smile, before he brings his girlfriend closer and kisses the top of her forehead.

Harmony Hall-

Some core four bliss before it gets chaotic again, with a side of Jeronica and Barchie cuddles.

Not Your Barbie Girl-

A River vixen performance, Jughead is so fricken in love with Ronnie right now cuz she’s just RADIATING empowerment.

Therefore I Am-

Jeronica sends Hiram to jail again after a bomb ass one liner from Veronica:

“Mija, you have no idea what you’re doing.”

“Only one thing’s false in that sentence Hiram, I’m not your Mija anymore.”

This Life-

Veronica meeting JB and Gladys, them getting along great- just a wholesome Lodge/Jones get-together.

Don’t Call Me Angel-

Veronica changes her name to Luna, fully emancipating herself from Hiram, and this gets Jughead really turned on XD

Sway With Me-

La Bonne Nuit’s first successful night, Josie, Veronica, Toni, and Cheryl perform. Veronica somehow convinces Jughead to dance with her in public. Think Moulin Rouge’s Diamond Dogs type editing.

My Oh My-

Getting screwed over my Hiram, Veronica is in a TON of debt and needs some “stress relief” with Jughead. He obliges. Happily.

HIP-

Veronica and Cheryl start their rum business, Jughead helps and oml he’s so proud of her. Btw, Cheronica are HUGE badasses right now.

Bury a friend-

Surviving Eversgreen Forest and Penelope Blossom…

Youth-

The core four are free from the forest, successfully escaping Penelope Blossom. Jughead and Veronica share a tearful but happy kiss, laying down on the back of a truck.

Don’t Take The Money-

The core four hang out at pops and promise to have fun this senior year, Jughead steals Veronica’s cherry from her milkshake, but being so vulnerable to Midget’s (He calls her Midget. Yup.) puppy dog eyes, he makes it up to her by sharing his fries.

“And for a brief, shining moment, we were kids again.” all that good shiz

The Four Seasons: “Winter”-

Jeronica hangs with the Stonewall psychos.

(Online Love)-

Veronica and Jughead FaceTime and Veronica has this vibe like she’s the montage of the hero’s dead girlfriend in a movie. Like her hair is all splayed out on her pillow and she’s all smiley-

“You look like an angel right now- with your hair like a halo and how much you’re smiling.”

Veronica laughs

“Well it’s your fault I’m smiling you idiot.” Her voice softens towards the end of the sentence.

“I love you too, Ron.”

El Tejano-

Party at Stonewall, Jeronica are absolutely WASTED. Fun fact- Jughead get’s really into PDA when he’s drunk

Burned Out-

Oh shit… I guess Jughead is dead now. (dw, Betty’s still the one who “kills him”)

Claire de Lune-

Just kidding, he’s alive, and he and Veronica have a really cute moment in the bunker. Veronica starts reading his novel, per his request, and he just starts playing this on the record player and she smiles but her eyes are still on the book. He just kind of watches her, and when she starts beaming at the book he can’t help but kiss her right there. Then they just cuddle and little bit, Veronica on Jug’s lap, reading the book some more.

Girls Like GIrls-

Veronica has to prove Jughead is dead, so she and Betty kinda sorta… make out. Like, a lot. Betty is dating Archie at this point, and he’s the one who gets “mad”. But basically Betty and Veronica end up making out again cuz they spot Donna watching them. Veronica is a bi con, and Betty might be too but everyones in denial so *shrugs*.

Dream Lover-

(Time skip, because I’m lazy) Jughead’s alive again, sadly, his spot at NYU was taken by well, Veronica. Luckily, after pulling some strings, she surprises Jug with a full-ride acceptance letter from NYU starting second semester.

Magic Moments-

Yay! Prom! Barchie gets crowned king and queen (Beronica was kind of forgotten about, but thats fine, because we’re here for Jeronica first). While Betty and Archie are totally lost in each other, Jughead and Veronica are just kind of joking around on the side. While it’s Barchie’s moment, Jeronica is still looking pretty damn cute rn. Also, this becomes Barchie’s song!!

Oxford comma-

The song comes through the speaker at prom, Jughead invites Veronica to dance. As they sway, they gaze at one another like they’re seeing one another for the first time, to the song that started it all.
