Krzyż w zadymce
Krzyż w zadymce to niezwykły obraz Józefa Chełmońskiego.

Has anyone nominated Servant of God Joseph Müller? He's wonderful. Also maybe Jerzy Popiełuszko, because I was obsessed with him as a seven-year-old.
I know that's too many votes, but I'll give Aniela Salawa one too.
Both Joseph Müller and Jerzy Popiełuszko have been added to the beatified list! I'm going to do a smaller bracket with this category - currently about 25 nominations, will likely do top 16 for the bracket!
Aniela Salawa was already on the list and got another vote!

Parafia Św. Stanisława Kostki na Warszawskim Żoliborzu
Parish of St. Stanisław Kostka in Warsaw's Żoliborz was erected in 1927. The construction of the church was completed in 1938. During the war, the temple suffered slightly. The temple was consecrated by Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński in 1963. From 1974 to 1987, the parish priest was Fr. prelate Teofil Bogucki, who gave the church a patriotic character. Between 1980 and 1984, the resident of the parish was Fr. Jerzy Popiełuszko, who, after the introduction of martial law, celebrated here the famous Masses for the Homeland, attracting tens of thousands of believers, from 1982. Father Jerzy Popieluszko, after his martyrdom, was buried next to the church and his grave has been visited by 23 million people to this day. In the lower church, a modern museum was established, and the Amicus Pilgrim House was built nearby. Currently, 8 priests serve in the parish, youth and adult communities operate in it.

The Catholic Priest & Martyr Who Helped Free Communist Poland: The Heroic Story of Blessed Father Jerzy Popiełuszko

Kiedy blisko czterdzieści lat temu Tom Clancy wydał swą debiutancką powieść The Hunt on Red October trwała jeszcze zimna wojna. A w Polsce stan wojenny.

Blessed Jerzy Popiełuszko (14 September 1947 – 19 October 1984) was a Roman Catholic priest from Poland, associated with the Solidarity union. He was murdered by 3 agents of the Polish communist internal intelligence agency, the Służba Bezpieczeństwa, (English: Security Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs) who were shortly thereafter tried & convicted of the murder. He has been recognized as a martyr by the Catholic Church, & was beatified on 6 June 2010. Born in Okopy near Suchowola, Jerzy Popiełuszko was a charismatic priest who was first sent to strikers in the Warsaw Steelworks. Thereafter he was associated with workers & trade unionists from the Solidarity movement who opposed the Communist regime in Poland. He was a staunch anti-communist, & in his sermons, interwove spiritual exhortations with political messages, criticizing the Communist system & motivating people to protest. During the period of martial law, the Catholic Church was the only force that could voice protest comparatively openly, with the regular celebration of Mass presenting opportunities for public gatherings in churches. Popiełuszko's sermons were routinely broadcast by Radio Free Europe & thus became famous throughout Poland for their uncompromising stance against the regime. The Służba Bezpieczeństwa tried to silence or intimidate him. When those techniques did not work, they fabricated evidence against him; he was arrested in 1983, but soon released on intervention of the clergy & pardoned by an amnesty. A car accident was set up to kill Jerzy Popiełuszko on 13 October 1984 but he escaped it. The alternative plan was to kidnap him & it was carried out on 19 October 1984. The priest was beaten & murdered by three Security Police officers. Then, his body was dumped into the Vistula Water Reservoir near Włocławek from where it was recovered on 30 October 1984. News of the political murder caused an uproar throughout Poland, & the murderers & one of their superiors were convicted of the crime. On 19 December 2009, it was announced that Pope Benedict XVI had approved the decree of beatification of Father Popiełuszko. He was beatified on 6 June 2010 in Warsaw's Piłsudski Square. https://www.instagram.com/p/Cj8DZGjr_Cn/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
