Wbu? What are your lesbian headcanons? I'd be excited to hear! 😍
Aaaa! Most of mine are from Big Hero 6, but I do have a few from other fandoms too.
From Big Hero 6/BH6 the series: Honey Lemon and Gogo (they’re dating, Gogo is a butch and Honey Lemon is a femme) and Wendy Wower from the series.
Also Isabela from Encanto, of course. I love her so much and she deserves an adorable animated series (I need more Madrigal family shenanigans please)
Plus my video game girls, Jesse Faden, Polaris (nonbinary lesbian icon) and Emily Pope from Control. Also GLaDOS from Portal.
I think I have more bi headcanons than lesbian headcanons. It really depends on whether or not I like any male/female ships with that character. If I do, they’re bi. If I don’t, they’re a lesbian.

okay lemme ask you a question
so I have, like, a bunch of reaction gifs of me expressing basic emotions (angry, joyous, thumbs-up, villainous, stoic acceptance of the darkness, shotgun, etc), right
like, see, I realised a while back that A) standard reaction gifs didn't always capture the exact emotion I wanted to express, and 2) I am a literal animator, so I just. like. made my own, right.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(there are more than these, these are just a sample)
anyway, turns out when you send a gif file on Discord, you can then click the icon in the corner to favourite it, and then it'll be in your Discord faved gifs list. so now I use these all the time.
then I realised I have other characters who I can put in these gifs, because, like, hey, I have all these characters, I can do whatever I want
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this one's Jesse Faden but I could make a version of this gif with Harrowhark Nonagesimus or Waluigi or Joe Biden or Dan Povenmire or Alyx Vance or Captain Picard or anyone else who I already have the little picture for, and if I wanted someone else, I could just... make them.
thinking about this, this gave me an idea.
so my question is this:

Tag Game
@einsesk tagged me, thank you! Again, sorry this is late. :)
1. Why did you choose your url?
I would draw tons of dragons as a kid when I became obsessed with them after watching the movie, Dragon Slayer (A movie I was probably too young to have seen tbh. The movie rental store from my childhood was a very carefree environment). Though I don’t draw dragons much anymore these days (unless my own kid makes a request), I still enjoy various media with dragons, like BioWare’s Dragon Age video game series.
2. Any side blogs?
Not anymore. This one has become my main and only blog.
3. How long have you been on Tumblr?
Since the beginning of this site, but I abandoned my old original blog years ago after my hiatus.
4. Do you have a queue tag?
Nope. I have no system here.
5. Why did you start your blog in the first place?
I made this one originally for gaming stuff. After my hiatus (which happened when my art and my friends art was being flagged and removed sadly) I started using this as my main blog when I wanted to retire from my old one. My old blog is/was filled with Phantom of the Opera stuff and fanart I made. I had a lot of paintings of Erik and Christine on there. Many removed however. Not sure why. Nothing was explicit.
6. Why did you choose your icon/pfp?
My icon is my art of Raya Underhill from Control. I’ve had three icons over the years and all have been my art. First was my oc from Dragon Age. Second, was my pencil drawing of Casper Darling. And now, Raya. Been on a Control theme lately.
7. Why did you choose your header?
I recently just changed it from a picture from Dragon Slayer (that I had on the blog since the beginning) to my fanart of a long haired Casper Darling I made awhile ago. Wanted some change.
8. What’s your post with the most notes?
One of my fanart pieces of Jesse Faden and Emily Pope from Control. The one where they look to be floating/falling while embracing each other. I’m really proud of that one. Took me awhile to finish it. :)
9. How many mutuals do you have?
A good few. :)
10. How many followers do you have?
Under 100.
11. How many people do you follow?
Over 100. I think many blogs I did follow have been abandoned though.
12. Have you ever made a shitpost?
Not sure. Does my gushing of Casper Darling count?
13. How often do you use Tumblr each day?
I check it on breaks if not too busy and when I’m making meals for myself and the kid. Sometimes I check it at night after putting the kid to bed, but I mostly use that time to draw, play games, or try to catch up on shows if I’m not too exhausted.
14. Did you have a fight/argument with another blog once?
Nope.
15. How do you feel about “you need to reblog this” posts?
I actually don’t see many of those posts. I don’t have anything against them though.
16. Do you like tag games?
Yes! I’m just always late in replying.
17. Do you like ask games?
Yep, they can be fun.
18. Which of your mutuals do you think is Tumblr famous?
Hmm…? Idk. Maybe an old artist friend I had back in the early days of tumblr. They left when the site started to delete their work without warning. Not many older fan artists stayed during that time period. That’s why I took a hiatus for several years. Got very sad about the whole thing.
19. Do you have a crush on a mutual?
Nope.
I tag anyone who would like to do this! :)

Just out of curiosity, what are your thoughts on the idea of Jesse Fayden, the protagonist of the videogame Control, as a Paladin? And for that matter, what are your thoughts on the Board as a patron?
I think Jesse Faden would be an excellent Paladin, and she’s essentially one in all but name. Armed with myriad powers and a weapon deliberately referred to as an incarnation of Excalibur/Mjolnir/any weapon of legend, all of which directly tied to belief as a tangible force of power that she uses to fight for a benevolent order against a malevolent chaos, at the behest of not one but three potential deific beings, The Board, as you’ve noted, Polaris/Hedron her spiritual guardian, and Ahti the Janitor/Ocean God.
Tumblr media
Each of those three represent very different but ultimately unified incarnations of gods/projections of faith/belief, united in their forever battle against Chaos/Entropy/Id/The Hiss/The Darkness for the Astral Plane/Collective Unconscious/The Shared Soul of Humanity.
The Black Pyramid/Board represents the most distant and yet overbrearing of these icons. Its symbol is ever present, dominant in its place over the FBC, Astral Plane, and Oldest House. It has no humane features or expression, with an almost equally opaque background. It is ascribed benevolent, ambiguous, and malevolent goals by different humans who know of it. When it speaks, it does only to the Chosen/Director, and only after they pass a life or death test of worthiness that they alone determine. And when they do speak, it’s in a chaotic distortion of static only Jesse can understand, and even then it’s disjointed, the Board itself even frustrated with attempting to explain hyperreal concepts in away that a still human Jesse can understand. It’s also only a one way street: The Board gives orders, it does not converse. As a patron it certainly could be one, but its standards are exact, and it clearly cares more about results than developing personal connections with its followers. A paladin who follows them must be comfortable with that lack of connection, even as they have faith in a seemingly shared goal.
Tumblr media
Polaris/Hedron are also mysterious, but take a more active role in their world. Polaris is tied directly to Jesse, and can best be described as shards of light haloing in perfection around her, communicating silently but in such a way that Jesse always understands them. They also project themselves as a direct shield for people against the infectious power of the Hiss, and therefore fight them. If the Board is a solid immutable icon, then the Hedron is the means to see icons form from chaos, to help survive and percieve the universe as more than the collapse into entropy. Polaris/Hedron when they die represent both loss of faith and despair, but illustrate that being reborn is to have faith in yourself as well. Jesse’s most important revelation is that helps her take control of her destiny is when she realizes that she is Polaris/Polaris is her, and even if Hedron the being that many shared faith in is gone, she can still believe in herself. A paladin with something Polaris as their patron has a spiritual guardian walks step by step with them to the point that the two become interchangeable. If one falls, the other rises and begin again. Faith as a personal journey that pulls you up again.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ahti alone among these three benevolent gods is the most human among them. He represents several concepts, but perhaps the most importantly is that the gods are fighting the same battles you are. He takes the role of a humble Janitor, cleaner of messes, restorer of machines, in what ultimately is safeguarding the shared soul of humanity from decay, and sees Jesse as his assistant, another humble role. With the name of a Finnish Ocean God, in a setting where the ocean is symbol for the multiverse, him choosing to take the form of a simple janitor says much about him, and also his faith in Jesse, that he feels he can go on vacation and leave her to face his duties without hesitation. A paladin who follows a god like Ahti, sees their gods as people, fighting the same battles they are, and that the hero’s journey is a humble task akin to keeping things running. Therefore, take pride in what efforts you accomplish. You’re defeating entropy itself by doing so.

rules.
01. following and activity.
i am mutually exclusive and low activity. writing is my job outside of tumblr too, i have quite a few other blogs, and sometimes i simply don't have the energy to do threads at the end of the day. my energy can be extremely sporadic so please keep this in mind when following.
i highly prefer plotted interactions. i will very rarely post starter calls but i am always open to having mutuals message me asking to plot. in addition, i reblog a lot of memes so if you want to interact, sending one of those in is the best way to get a thread started!
i will only write with those who are over 18. this is simply because i am 20+ and being considerate of younger writers on this site considering the source material.
02. interactions.
i can be fairly selective with who i decide to follow - i generally follow (back) if i can see potential for plotting and also i think that we would get along well out of character. i can take some time to follow back because trying to do anything with my brain is like pushing a 2002 ford taurus uphill so please do not follow / unfollow for attention.
i generally only break mutuals if you have not been active in over two months, we haven't particularly interacted, or i've been notified by a friend of something i wasn't aware of in the past ( such as racist / sexist / transphobic etc behavior. ) in all cases i will softblock.
+ for my own comfort, i won't write or interact with the following media unless i am friends with the person: american horror story, riverdale, chilling adventures of sabrina, descendants, any rooster teeth property, most anime/manga.
03. characterisation and content.
caleb is not a nice person at all. he’s manipulative and self serving and is more than willing to throw your muse under the bus if it means furthering his goals. he’s also extremely powerful and capable of affecting characters who are still alive including possession. he truly cares for little other than himself and i will not shy away from this in threads. any hostility from caleb does not reflect on me, the mun’s, perception of you or your character. he’s the villain and will behave like a villain.
in addition, while julie and the phantoms is generally intended for younger audiences, i will approach some more mature themes as they make sense for caleb’s character. most prominently will be themes of death, grief, and some more horror aspects depending on his verse. if you don’t feel comfortable with that, you are not obligated to write with me. i simply would like to approach a version of his character that’s less like a cartoon/disney villain and more nuanced.
since we don’t really have any lore on how the ghosts and their abilities work, most of the lore about caleb’s abilities has been created by me. if you’re writing another jatp muse and would like to borrow it, you’re fine as long as you ask me first. please just don’t copy and paste it without acknowledging that it’s been borrowed.
04. shipping.
caleb is straight and thus i will only write romantic content with woman-aligned characters. shipping will probably be pretty rare considering he’s been dead since the fourties and also he’s a self absorbed bastard. i also will not be featuring nsfw content on this blog in any capacity. even though caleb is an adult, the source material is a kids show and i don’t feel comfortable including nsfw content in that regard.
05. everything else.
i use minimal formatting with 60x60 icons. i will probably not follow back if you do ‘photoshop’ replies or super spaced out ones just because it’s insanely hard for me to actually read and absorb those.
i won’t be following duplicates just to tailor my own experience to what i’m comfortable with. no hard feelings!
personals will be blocked. this ain’t your space.
at the end of the day, if you’re not a dickhead, we will get along fine.
06. supplemental.
hi there! i'm pidge; i'm 20 years old, transmasc, and living in yuggera country ( queensland, australia. ) i currently work in customer service and studied film production at university, writing and directing content is my ultimate end goal. this isn’t my first rodeo writing a jatp character so you may already know me!! i'm also a big fan of suburban gothic, iced coffee, and podcasts. i am generally around at odd hours but my discord is always open to mutuals. where else you can find me: bucky barnes, ethan winters, jesse faden.

Best and Worst of 2019
So a new year is upon us, it’s a good time to reflect on our best and worst of the past year.  There’s always plenty of good stuff in our positive examples, and sexy male armor, tags of course.
The Best of 2019
Pretty good year for video games and other media in that more studios seem to be trending towards creating more equitable attire for characters to varying degrees.  Even Games Workshop has released some new Sisters of Battle that look like formidable warriors (as opposed to well...), and have promised more. There are a few stand outs:
Captain Marvel by Marvel Entertainment
This movie was a great start to the year and addition to the dialogue regarding the Marvel movies.  Representation of women and same-gender relationships were great discussions sparked by it, and it smashed a box office record in the process.
Control by Remedy Entertainment
Weird, compelling and a whole lot of destructive fun - the adventures for Jesse Faden warrant almost infinite exploration and interpretation - all without needing to engage in exploitation of women.
Wolfenstein: Youngblood by Arkane Studios & Machine Games
The iconic game of killing Nazis provided as with the new and exciting opportunity let the players co-operate as a pair sisters killing Nazis for themselves.
Apex Legends by Respawn Entertainment
Battle Royales are a big market right now, and it’s nice to see one that embraces diverse characters and provides the female characters with interesting roles and equipment (that is also practical looking)
And because I’m not too proud to admit to schadenfreude:
Sex Sells - Confirmed invalid, again
Amongst others we took great delight in that the attempts to use sex to sell by EM83R completely fall over, along with the release of the Kill la Kill video game going pretty much unnoticed.
The Worst of 2019
For simplicity I’ve limited this to major media and not the various groups of the worst people supporting the worst celebrities - because those people don’t need  our platform and never change.
Mortal Kombat fanbase highlights general toxicity in gamer culture
So, Mortal Kombat 11 came out and it’s... well it’s a Mortal Kombat game, but a few changes to default designs and made a few female characters have less conventionally sexy outfits... and well, capital G gamers did not take it well:
Tumblr media
(And of course, Final Fantasy had a small riot due to a portion of the cis male fan base having no idea of how boobs or bra sizes work)
League of Legends studio, Riot Games, confirmed as misogynistic cesspit
Throughout the year various details came out about the studio being a horrendous to female staff - to the point where a judge ruled they have to pay ten million dollars compensation to female employees.  It’s good that they received some compensation, but it shows how the video game industry still has a long way and how if a studio’s products look like it doesn’t care about women... it probably doesn’t.
Media and platform capitulation to Nazis
If you’re wondering why you hadn’t seen more on Wolfenstein: Youngblood or Control, it’s because pretty much the vast majority of platforms such as Steam and rating services such as MetaCritic still want to take a hands-off approach to their communities because they just don’t care.  Of course, there’s also the issue of how Kelly Marie Tran was all but written out of Rise of the Skywalker.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night
Well the game is out now and while it was celebrated for its nostalgic qualities, it sadly also carried along all the nostalgic ideas on how female character’s costumes should just be generically sexy without anything thought on... anything else at all... not even whether the clothes can even exist.
Of course, the comic industry remains a trash fire... for many years running now.

Control
Control was my birthday gift to myself. I had just returned from the hospital, and it was my birthday, and I needed something I could really dive into. Control had been pitched to me as “truly Lynchian”, so I coughed up my united states dollars at my local gamestop and brought it home.
I stepped as Jesse Faden through the front doors of The Federal Bureau of Control. On my way through the building’s foyer, I picked up a document intending to remind employees of items banned from the premises of the Bureau. On the list are all smart devices, number two pencils (??) and “any objects considered an iconic representation of an archetypal concept (i.e, rubber ducks, ketchup bottles)”. “Oh.” I said, out loud and to an empty room. “I’m gonna like this game.”
(Spoilers ahead.)
Control sounds like a familiar story: a secret government organization dedicated to studying the paranormal. Scratch a little further and you see more of the SCP Foundation than the X-Files- lots of talk of the containment of Altered Items and even Altered World Events. Beyond that, Control is a video game unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. It manages to genuinely unsettle in the first act as the player gets used to seeing full-motion video right along side the game’s semi-realistic art style, and it uses that experiment in format to great success throughout the game.
The sequences where Director Trench speaks to Jesse are sleek and interesting every time, which is surprising given the nature of these introductions. A live-action video semi-transparently imposed over your view without warning has the potential to be a really irritating mechanic, but the way they’re framed isn’t imposing and they’re spaced so they never interrupt combat, so seeing them is only ever rewarding.
Bad acting would have absolutely killed this game, so it’s a great thing it’s full-motion actors do such a good fucking job. Dr. Darling’s presentations are stop-the-game-and-watch moments every single time. I was happy to set down the controller and wait to learn more of Dr. Darling’s theories or watch an episode of the delightfully surreal Threshold Kids.
All this to say nothing of the action, which is some of the best of it’s kind since inFamous 2. The Service Weapon (which is almost too clever a name) feels great. Modifying your different forms and mastering your abilities is immensely satisfying. A game where I can pull up a shield made of office supplies while I fly into the air and reload my gun before throwing the office supplies at the nearest enemy and slamming down into another is a game I’m going to keep coming back to.
(Story spoilers coming soon. You’ve been warned.)
The Bureau is an excellent setting, as well. Control is semi-open world, in that it doesn’t put a lot of walls in between you and it’s world, and the story and side missions will send you to all corners of the map often at the drop of a hat, almost forcing you to learn the Bureau’s layout and explore further. The game has a lot of wonderful little lore about how labyrinthine the Bureau is and it truly feels that way- I was shocked at the end of the game to discover I’d only actually seen four of the Bureau’s sectors.
The characters are brilliance. Helping Jesse Faden reassemble the Bureau’s Board and watching her map out it’s future with Emily Pope is compelling and moving- retiring the harmful policies of selfish men and building a better Bureau feels good. It helps enforce the Bureau as a place the player wants to be- a place the player can see get better.
It was frustrating to me for that reason that at the end of the game almost nothing has gotten better. My primary goals in Control were to find out what happened to Dr. Darling, reunite Jesse and Dylan, and get rid of the Hiss. When the credits roll we have no idea where Darling is, Jesse and Dylan still aren’t reunited, and the Hiss are still rampant in the Bureau. On their own each of these little disappointments would be forgivable, but they add up to an ending that doesn’t feel like much of a conclusion.
This is an admittedly minor complaint in the face of what the game gets right. The worldbuilding is especially phenomenal. As familiar as the concept is, the paranormal in Control is made unique and refreshing. From the Service Weapon to the Board to the ever shifting Oceanview Motel, Control does a great job of making the paranormal feel not just unnatural but truly alien, different from us in form and function.
The other big issue for me was the performance. Control is often loading massive maps, and despite doing it’s best to conceal these load times would often slow to a crawl during combat or when coming out of a pause menu. I even had a few crashes during particularly busy scenes. Apparently playing on PC resolves most of these issues, which I can’t attest to cuz I played on PS4.
Over all, I highly recommend Control. I came one boss-fight short of the platinum, and I’m anxiously awaiting the DLC. In the meantime I intend to check out the developers other titles like Alan Wake.
Oh, also I’m working on a review of the IT movies. So that’ll be fun.
