The world wants peace, but rejects the Prince of Peace. The world wants love, but rejects the Author of Love. The world wants life, but rejects the One Who gave His to save theirs. The world desperately wants Jesus, but they're too busy rejecting Him to realize He's the answer.

Serving in Ministry During Seasons of Waiting: A Biblical Perspective
In life, we often find ourselves in seasons of waiting – waiting for a job opportunity, waiting for healing, waiting for a relationship, or waiting for a dream to come to fruition. These periods of waiting can be challenging, as they test our patience, faith, and resilience. However, as Christians, we are called to use these times of waiting as opportunities to serve in ministry and grow closer to God. Let's explore why serving in ministry during seasons of waiting is so important from a biblical perspective.
Faithfulness in Small Things: In Luke 16:10, Jesus teaches us the principle of faithfulness in small things: "Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much." Serving in ministry, even in seemingly insignificant ways during seasons of waiting, demonstrates our faithfulness to God. Whether it's volunteering at church, helping those in need, or praying for others, every act of service is significant in God's eyes.
Stewardship of Time and Talents: In Ephesians 2:10, we are reminded that "we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." Even in seasons of waiting, God has prepared opportunities for us to serve and make a difference in the lives of others. By stewarding our time and talents well, we honor God and fulfill His purposes for our lives.
Bearing Fruit in Every Season: In Psalm 1:3, we read that the person who delights in the law of the Lord "is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers." Serving in ministry during seasons of waiting allows us to bear fruit for God's kingdom, even when circumstances may seem barren. As we remain rooted in God's Word and obedient to His calling, He promises to produce spiritual fruit through us.
Finding Joy in Service: In Philippians 2:3-4, we are encouraged to "do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others." Serving in ministry shifts our focus from our own desires and concerns to the needs of others, bringing joy and fulfillment in the midst of waiting. When we serve with humility and love, we reflect the character of Christ and experience His presence in a tangible way.
In conclusion, serving in ministry during seasons of waiting is not only important but also deeply meaningful from a biblical perspective. It allows us to demonstrate faithfulness, stewardship, and obedience to God, while also bringing joy and bearing fruit for His kingdom. As we wait patiently for God's timing and trust in His sovereignty, let us seize every opportunity to serve others and glorify His name. So, if like me, you find yourself in a season of waiting, do what waiters do...serve! - Sharri Van Zyl

Then a voice came from heaven
“Now My soul is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save Me from this hour’? But for this purpose I came to this hour. Father, glorify Your name.”Then a voice came from heaven, saying, “I have both glorified it and will glorify it again.”Therefore the people who stood by and heard it said that it had thundered. Others said, “An angel has spoken to Him.”Jesus answered and said, “This voice…

‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5‬:‭20‬-‭21‬ LSB
So then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as God is pleading through us. We beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Parents
Believing in Jesus means believing on all his commandments and laws he came to fulfil. One of those commandments is to honour your parents. -“Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you” -Exodus 20:12
Many might not have great parents who incentive them to pursue a relationship with Christ, but that does not mean we should dismiss what they tell us. Honouring them means, respecting things that they tell us to do (that do not put you or your relationship with Christ at risk) even though it might not please you should to comply with your parents rules because it is one of his commandments.
But its important to put your salvation and relationship with Christ first and focusing on God more. "Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me..." "Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; and whoever does not take up the cross and follow me is not worthy of me. " - Matthew 10:37-39
Like said in the first paragraph to be a believer of Christ you need to believe in all he has said. Just like you believe all your mother tells you when you are young, but there will be times where your parents might lie to you causing for you not to trust them so often, but that the difference between Christ and your parents, the Lord will never forsake you or lie to you that’s why it is in Him that we should trust and love most above all because to love others you first need to love God Yahweh. -Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” -Hebrews 13:5
It’s important to love everyone regardless because if you love someone you will treat them with kindness and respect and that is what the Lord call us to do but some parents might teach you to hate your enemy’s or to treat who you like with kindness that’s why is it important to trust in the Lord your God. - "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths." -Proverbs 3:5-6
Salvation is individual and you will be persecuted for telling the truth (Good News) even by your own parents that’s why it is necessary to discern if what your parents are telling you will harm your relationship with God. - From now on families will be split apart, three in favor of me, and two against—or two in favor and three against. 53 'Father will be divided against son and son against father; mother against daughter and daughter against mother; and mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law. -Luke 12:52-53
You might abide to what your parents said but you also might have displeased God while doing so and like Scripture tells us, God is the One that we should trust and ultimately Abide to.

I first became fascinated with it a few years ago when I noticed it out an airplane window on a flight from Texas to Southern California. In an expanse of endless desert, suddenly, a vast body of water. When I got home, I immediately looked it up on a map. The Salton Sea.
Tumblr media
It’s the largest landlocked body of water in California. It sits right on top of the San Andreas Fault at over 200 feet below sea level. It is more than twice as salty as the Pacific Ocean. It is completely toxic. And I had never heard of it before then.
(photo essay under the cut)
In the early 1900s the Colorado River was diverted through a series of irrigation canals in order to provide water for the farmlands of Imperial Valley. One of the head-gates broke during a flood, and the desert basin filled with water for 2 years before it was fixed. The unexpected lake soon became a popular vacation destination; it was stocked with fish, and resorts and hotels popped up along its shores. It became known as a great place for sport fishing, waterskiing, and yacht parties. Big name celebrities visited. At one point, it had more annual visitors than Yosemite.
Tumblr media
Salton Sea has no outlet, and is only filled via agricultural runoff. As the water evaporated in the hot desert sun, the lake became more and more saline. Chemicals began to build up from the run off causing toxic algae blooms, and mass die-offs of fish and birds started in the 80s. By the 90s, the beaches were littered with fish gills and bird bones and the resorts were abandoned. The lake began to dry up as irrigation run-off was diverted away. The exposed lake bed is also toxic, and the high desert winds kick up the dust, making the air poisonous.

Despite the unpleasant odor, the noxious air and the summer temperatures regularly reaching 120°, a renaissance of sorts began in the early 2010s. Artist and nomad colonies began to spring up around Salton Sea. Bombay Beach, once a popular resort destination, is now mostly a ghost town, but the folks who remain have turned the ruins on the shores into an outdoor art installation gallery where the found-art sculptures are cyclically destroyed by the elements and then replaced with new ones. Many of the houses and RVs in town are themselves art pieces.

In nearby Slab City, a settlement of off-the-grid lifestylers, you can find even more folk art. Salvation Mountain is a manmade hill painted with bright colors and bible verses and maintained by a community of volunteers. East Jesus is a sculpture garden and art installation.

This past weekend my partner and I finally made the pilgrimage to the Sea. California has the benefit of being home to a huge array of biomes. In just a couple of hours you can travel from snowy mountain peaks to lush oases to endless sand dunes. Driving the hour or so south from Palm Springs towards Salton Sea is like driving towards the end of the world.

Bombay Beach especially enamored me. The beach is crusted with salt and millions of tiny shells and bones. It smells awful, like sewage and chemicals and low-tide and rotting fish. You drive out onto the beach and park anywhere amongst the sculptures and deteriorating resort ruins. The art feels raw in a way I haven’t experienced before. It reminds me of seeing paleolithic cave art. Humans made this, with no motivation other than to create something intriguing or beautiful or sad. Not much can live out here, but what you find fills me with a great adoration for humanity. Despite the asphyxiation of the natural world, the human spirit persists.

The Exclusivity and Sufficiency of Christ for Salvation
In Acts 4:1 Peter states that salvation can only be found through Jesus Christ. It is necessary to trust in Jesus alone for salvation, and this salvation is a free gift from God that cannot be earned through works.
In Acts 4:12, Peter states, “There is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.” And the name he’s talking about is the name of Jesus, the theanthropic Person who came into this world (John 1:1, 14), lived a sinless life (2 Cor 5:21; Heb 4:5; 1 John 3:5), and went to the cross and died a penal substitutionary death…
